My boyfriend took me here for the first time the other day, and I was very pleasantly surprised by how good everything was. 1) It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's actually a really good place to eat. They serve cafeteria style in that they have trays of food behind the counter and you pick which ones you want. There are several tables for dine in, but it seems most people take it to go. 2) The store hours sign said they're open till 11pm, and we got there around 1115pm, but the gentleman working there was more than happy to serve us. I don't know if they changed the hours or generally stay open late, but I'm glad they were because we were starving. 3) The man working there was SOOOOOO nice! From the outside, I could see that he himself was eating and watching tv, but the second he saw us approaching he jumped up, went behind the counter, and greeted us very kindly. He was also quick to offer us samples of anything we wanted. He also gave some great suggestions. 4) The food was very good! I ordered the two meat, two sides combo -- lo mein, veggies, spicy chicken, and bourbon chicken. I can't say it was the best food ever, but definitely a good solid meal. It was all much fresher than I would've imagined at 11pm. Served hot and in generous portions. 5) I can't remember the exact prices, but between me and my boyfriend we spent around $16. I think that's a great deal considering we both had leftovers for lunch the next day, so we got actually got 4 meals out of it. Next time, I'm def gonna try the tofu!

For a fast food chinese restaurant, this place is pretty good. I bit on the oily side, but still pretty good. We ordered the lo main, veggies, and orange chicken. The price for a full container was pretty cheap and it was enough to feed 2 people! This place is very good to your wallet.

My main complaint is that they didn't give us the rice we ordered (we got delivery). The food was just okay, the lo mein was undercooked and the vegetables soggy but the bourbon chicken was pretty good. Luckily, we had some rice on hand and were able to save this mediocre meal.

Went here again cause the food wasn't bad last time, but I was very disappointed. The chicken tastes like it was sitting there for a while and I ordered a boba tea since they have it somewhat advertised. When I asked if they had any, he said just milk tea and what do you know, he literally mixed the milk and iced tea right in front of me. I have to admit if that's how you make it then I'm an idiot, but if not then really?! Plus he had me get the ice from the soda dispenser. The only good thing I got was the lo mien and bottled water.

If a vegetarian, AVOID! Three "vegetables" available: noodles , tasteless green beans, and pork fried rice! Avoid this place!!!!!!

I've had to come to Gainesville a few times the last couple of months and I've ordered from here 3 times (delivery) and always get the bourbon chicken, it's wonderful, the large is plenty for 2 adults but make sure you order a large rice, the small wasn't enough. The spring rolls are good as well. They forget the paper plates, this is my only complaint. If you are staying in a hotel close to Archer Road and I-75 this is a good place to order from.

Since becoming vegetarian, the thought of having fast Chinese food was slim to none. Came in with family and was sad to see only rice and a vegetable blend. Once telling the guy at the counter that I was vegetarian, he pointed out the special menu. It had several tofu options. Big thumbs up. Got the sesame tofu. Oh my goodness! It was THE BEST fried tofu I've ever had! Fresh and cooked right then. Highly recommend for vegetarians!

Good food and service .... Had the tofu, cashew and vegetable entree along with the cucumber soup. I ordered a 4 of 5 on their spice meter, it wasn't very hot. Next time I will go with the 5. A thai 4 is usually pretty hot for me.

Look at their menu online - they offer more than what's already prepared. I always order "shrimp fried rice" and it's a huge serving for a low price and very delicious. The family is very nice and friendly.

I seriously think that this is the best place to get orange chicken or general tsao in Gainesville. I have ventured out to other places that are just not even good ar all. I tend to like the general tsao the most because I think the meat is better and not as hard, but really all of the options here are really good. I also suggest the fried rice and the sweet plantains, which are my favorite sides! You can sit in and eat if you want, it is a cute little family business. I will say that when you reheat the food the next day, it is really hard to the point that it tastes better cold. They also have a sign up in the front written in mandarin or cantonese I am assuming...I wonder what it says!!

Tasty bourbon chicken, vegetables, and eggrolls all for a really good price. I recommend especially if you are on a budget. Their sweet and sour chicken tastes decent too. The one notable quality is the fast pace of service. Admittedly not the best Asian food I have had, but a great experience nonetheless.

I agree with the other posts. Fast service Not to greasy food (bourbon chicken, plantains and other good choices) We needed a placed like this around this side of town. I like !

Food price (lunch) is so reasonable and owner couples are friendly too. I always stop here at least once every couple weeks.

This place wasnt as good as I remember it, but I still love it. I've tried almost everything here, but the bourbon chicken and rice is still tops in my book. The orange chicken is good, but a little greasy at times. The mushroom chicken is good and so is the lo mein. The fried rice is not as greasy as some of the chinese takeout places around. Prices are still hard to beat.

In contrast to the other two reviews of this fast food Asian place, I was very displeased with my one experience here for lunch. Given its location in a new shopping plaza off Archer Road, I was hoping it might be pretty good but instead reminded me of the very worst mall food-court Chinese places I've dined at--and yet it wasn't even in a mall. Same concept as those mall places, too: a counter with a variety of cooked dishes, lo mein, and fried rice on offer. Bourbon chicken, kung bo chicken, that sort of thing. My kung bo chicken was without flavor and bland, and I was not impressed. Note also that I was there for lunch around one o'clock so it's not like I caught them at closing time and was dealing with old food. It's possible I caught them on an off day, but I highly doubt it. The whole concept of their food is very typical, bland, Americanized kinda-Chinese and neglects the vast and great tradition of REAL Chinese food. I cook Cantonese, Lao, and Viet food at home all the time and used to live in San Francisco's Chinatown, so I feel I know whereof I speak. Someone really needs to put a decent, authentic, Chinese restuarant into Gainesville instead of weak pan-asian efforts like this: Bento already has done pan-asian and done it right, and for now I highly recommend them (even though they are more expensive) over any place like Asian Wok N Grill.

K, I dig Asian food, and easy Asian food at that. This is one of those places. Spring rolls are yummy, all chicken dishes are tasty (I LOVE spicy!!), chow mein is thick and good, fried/steamed rice is great. Small, cafeteria-style joint. One of the best eateries I've found in Gainesville. Why not 5 stars? Because I found a little black fly stuck in my sauce. Now, how does a small black fly getting stuck in my food still warrant 4 stars, though? That sauce is damned good, so I couldn't blame him for being in there.

This is not the best Chinese I've had in this town... They have fried fish specials at times and they don't even know what kind of fish it is!?

I ordered delivery from 2 dollar delivery. I had two meats, two sides and picked Bourbon Chicken and Spicy Chicken. You would think, or at least I did, this would be two separate chicken dishes with separate sauces....no? No, they mixed the two together??? Thank God I didn't order two different meats, this would have been a disaster! However, it was seasoned very well, unlike other Chinese delivery which tends to be bland overall. The white rice was cooked perfectly and the veggie roll still crispy and tasty. I would have liked a few more bell peppers than 1 slice and maybe some onions as the dish was 99% chicken and 1% veggies. Better than most and they actually season the food. Large helping, so the dog got lucky and he gave them 5 stars, but then he is not the pickiest eater I have come across. If you are traveling this is a good place to try for delivery!

HUGE portions..Fast, and Cheap! Pros: General Tso & Bourbon chicken sauces, Not ridiculously greasy. Cons: You can't. stop. eating. it! and the quality of meat isn't anything to write home about. This place is typical, americanized fare. It hits the spot, beautifully. Pay it a visit if you need a chinese fixing, without the wait.

You can't really go into this place, or look at it from outside for that matter, and expect exquisite, authentic chinese dishes. If you walk into this establishment with the goal of eating food-court style fast food, you're golden. You're most likely to be greeted by the eyes of a bored employee who would like to be somewhere else, try a few samples, and be on your way for to a tummy-ache or, "what did I just eat" feeling. Regardless, it is good while you're eating it for what it is. Lately, I noticed that their air quality inside the place is getting better - they must have changed something because now it doesn't smell like a kitchen inside. I'm usually at a fork in the road when I go to this plaza - try healthier with subway? or risk a greasy food coma with Asian Wok. The latter usually wins.

This is the perfect restaurant when you're craving cheap, Americanized Chinese food. I'm Asian and even I love to have food like this every once in a while. The food selection isn't that vast, but the food they do have is amazing. The orange chicken and bourbon chicken are fantastic, and the lo mein, for some reason just keeps me coming back. My favorite thing to do when I don't know what to eat or don't have much time to spare is to take-out here since it's super fast to get the food and very cheap (perfect for college students). It's also located on archer and Butler Plaza, so it's close to campus. They also give you a lot of food, which is always a bonus. The service is very nice, and they offer free samples if you want to try anything.

Geoff and I were lolly gagging around Gainesville the other day (Ocala does get boring) and were hunting for some mom and pop pizza place within Gainesville's trillion plazas. Surprisingly couldn't find one out by the interstate. So, this place was the next best thing. I didn't really want Asian at the time, but eh we were hungry. It was just about closing time when we walked in, so i was just relieved that they still had food. The gentleman behind the counter immediately handed me some chicken to try and it was actually hot and pretty tasty. Long story short, the lo mien there was AWESOME. The noodles were thin, not greasy, not dripping with soy sauce. The chicken was REAL white meat. Not that chewy weird tasting stuff that could possibly be cat. Very good food, high quality. Great price too. Craved lo mien for days afterward, and when I did have it, it just didnt compare.

For like $8, you get a side and two main courses, and they load up your plate until it overflows. The food is pretty decent (no better than Panda Express or any other take out place), and the guys there are also really nice. I don't understand how you could possibly walk in here expecting authentic Chinese -- you're in the middle of Florida in a college town. This is pretty much all I can ask for out of a takeout Chinese restaurant.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
