This bar, in only its second year of participation, has become my second favorite FEST venue. Only 1982 is better, and it is drastically different so the comparison ends with the FEST. One of my favorite things about 8 Seconds is that no matter how big the FEST banner hanging on stage, it is never quite big enough to completely cover the humongous Dale Jr poster hanging behind it. More positives: It is HUGE. There is an entire second area upstairs with it's own bar, never too crowded, but the view leaves something to be desired from here. The beer is CHEAP. Fuck all that PBR everyone is drinking, Yeungling is only $3 at 8 seconds. Furthermore, probably the only venue during FEST that has NO minimum on credit cards. Hell yeah. With all the jumping from venue to venue, that's a big plus if you aren't a cash carrier. There are a couple other things that make it stand out. I swear, they staff more people during FEST than the Venue/Florida Theater does. There is RARELY a line out front. After the first day this year, they were running two lines the entire time. So quick to get in! And so big it's rarely at capacity. The staff is also friendly, despite being out of their element. This is a country bar after all, and their staff is country folk, for the most part. One of these years they'll wisen up and leave the mechanical bull out for the punks to ride. ;-)

Been going here since 2007 and it's still my favorite bar in Gainesville! They do play mainly country music but they also play a little of everything else from classic rock to house music to hip-hop... They also have great drink specials!

Massive two-level country bar right in the heart of downtown GNV. I've only been here to watch more punk-centric groups during The Fest (which is a weird experience) so I can't say much about their regular operation. But, chances are you'll have plenty of breathing room and ease in finding a drink. USA! USA! USA!

The flyer said, "Corn Hole, Beer Pong, Line Dancing, Live Country DJ*..." W T F I can tell you right now that I would never step foot in here on a night that wasn't The Fest. Country bars just aren't my thing. At all. Ever. Neither is a wall of ridiculous shot concoctions. As a venue, though, it was mediocre. Acoustic sounds way better than thrashier stuff. There are a bunch of obstructions around the place, but I guess the balcony makes up for it? Oh wait, there are obstructions up there, too. I think I counted four bars, which makes me wonder just how many people they cram in here because the place doesn't seem big enough to justify it. This has to be a country-loving, college kid's wet dream. *[ distillery.s3.amazonaws.…

You shouldn't be allowed to sell all you can drink beer for $9... wait, let me correct that... I shouldn't be allowed to get all I can drink beer for $9. Good drinks, pretty girls, great times.

I love the ladies night there. And they teach country dance, which is so good! I am moving out of FL, and can never find such a great place like this.

The sound here is great, and it's very spacious and open with an upper level featuring a second bar and pool tables. The only downside to this place is the smell. It smells like shit due to their policy (or lack of) for smoking indoors. They allow it and the place smells like absolute shit. Also, if disgusting sexual relations are your thing, you'll love this place. There is a glory hole conveniently drilled between the two stalls of the men's room. I get it. It's a redneck bar in Florida for Gods sake. But could we possibly do without at least PART of the filth? Cut the smoking and you'll double your audience. Trust me.

One of the best places to spend a Thursday night in Gainesville. Line dancing, great country music (including the older stuff like Hank and Merle, not all that new crappy pop-country stuff), and cheap beer. 2 floors, pool tables, huge dance floor, the bartenders are cool, and there's a $5 parking garage right around the corner so you don't have to worry about towing. They also play some top 40/hip hop occasionally. The only downside is it's 18+ (what do you expect in a college town though) so watch out for all the kids drinking in the bathrooms!

I really liked this venue, during Fest anyway. They managed to keep the line moving pretty well while trying to get in, and the staff was probably the most friendly of any of the venues I went to. As for the place itself, I thought the sound was great; clear, loud, but not ear-shatteringly loud like so many places I go to. Big space, and there wasn't a bad place to be if you wanted to see the band. Wish there were more venues like this.

Good to go This is Gainesville premier COUNTRY BAR Ive been going to :08 for years. Its been remodeled a couple times but it all stays about the same. There is an upstairs balcony with a couple of pool tables for the more casual drinking atmosphere Downstairs has a huge dance floor and a couple of bars. It is never terribly crowded and is very rarely any serious fights break out. On some nights a live band will play some country and southern rock favorites. There is line dancing and toward the end of the night they throw in some rap and dance music. Bouncers are cool guys not your usual asshole. This bar is not for everybody like i said, it does have country line dancing, but if you can see past that its really a fun time

They call it a country bar yet they barely play any country after the first hour. On top of that, the place is so crowded you can't even move. There are so many people just standing around talking that they take over the dance floor.
