El Jacalito Taqueria Tortilleria

Reviews:
I've eaten killer Mexican in Sonora, So Cal, Tucson AZ and all up and down the Buford Highway in Atlanta. El Jacalito is exactly what it calls itself - Home Cooking. Better than 95% of the above. This is the Mexican equivalent of what we call a meat and three in the South. Momma in the kitchen cooking it right. Had the Lengua (Tongue) and Barbacoa tacos and they were melt in the mouth wonderful. My companions had the enchiladas with green sauce and the shrimp fajitas. Rave reviews all around. The salsa bar has several choices to liven up the main dish and they are all good. Don't expect chips and salsa, it ain't gonna happen. Ambiance has more of a pool hall feel, but that's part of the charm. You would pay 3x what they charge for food this good in a trendy Mexican restaurant in a major city. All the Atlanta, Montgomery and Birmingham new money couples spending spring break and the summer on 30A have no idea that a great kitchen like this is a 20 minute drive away. If you go, don't tell your friends. Lets keep this jewel to ourselves.
Saw the other 5 star Yelp reviews and decided to try it for dinner. Wonderful, best Mexican food I have tasted in many years. Authentic flavors - the real thing! Don't miss it! It's simple, very clean, with new booths and tables too. There is a small Mexican market there as well. The kitchen looks modern, clean and well equipped. Super happy nice people; looks family owned. Everything is cooked fresh and the salsa bar is well stocked and also very fresh. $7.99 for a full dinner and they have a great selection of unusual drinks. Absolutely great!
This is the kind of find my husband and I love to make. I swear the best tacos I've ever had always came from a little hole in the wall. It's not fancy but we aren't there for the decorations! My husband and I got carne asada which was amazing. Out son got enchilada and taco and he says they were the best he ever had! If we lived here, we would be regulars. Alas, we head back out of state tomorrow. Don't let the outside fool you, and don't you dare pass up this delicious food.

Great tea, great personable service, and very clean inside. LC's had always been awesome but Jason had really done an incredible job with the food and on the menu. Don't miss it
To be honest, I do t know know where these other reviewers have eaten but I am a cook and the food here was horrible!!! I got the large Italian sub and it came with a piece of ham, salami, and pepperoni. I had more bread than meat. Onions weren't sliced properly, they were large chunks as were the tomatoes. The other thing that really made me dislike the meal was their homemade bread. I don't know who told them how to cook but they should stop! The bread is some of the worst I have had. $8.59 for the sub was not worth it at all. Then on top of that, I was charged $1.85 for a 12 ounce can of sprite!! Why??? My wife ordered the large cheese steak and again, the pieces of onions and peppers weren't chopped properly, they were huge pieces which ruin the taste. I would never return to this place even if I was dying of hunger, I would rather eat a Tom Thumb hotdog. Maybe I should cook for these people that wrote these reviews because they haven't tasted good food if they think this place was great! The only thing worse than the food is the guy behind the counter. He was so loud it was obnoxious!
First time trying LCs because I usually drive by on my way to eat Mexican food. I have been remiss in passing this little gem by! I love the pizza. The dough is not heavy at all. The toppings are generous and although the crust is light it is more on the crisp side so it hold up well, even cold the next morning. The chicken wings are deep fried and not drenched in sauce. Tasty although I wish it had just a bit more heat. They also make subs and fried pickles so definitely will be back to try those.

This place has great food, service and an amazing view. I went with a good sized group and got to try a variety of foods. The gator tail was very good, and I personally got cobia, green beans and fries. I also had the Wisconsin cheese balls. That was probly the best appetizer I've ever had, along with the best fish I've ever had. If you happen to go look for the Boston Red Sox championship banner by the bar and you'll see all of our dollar bills we posted on the wall. Tell cracker the rooster who hangs out in the front I said hi too. 10/10 for this place, seriously if it's an option you need to try it.
Good was a little slow and the portions are way small. Also, menu online doesn't match in store (prices) sticker shock.
Nick's is a great hole-in-the-wall place in Freemont that is good for fresh, local seafood. From their raw oysters to their grilled shrimp, crab claws to fish of the day, this place isn't messing around. They will grill, batter and fry, or blacken most things on their menu. It's all seafood, all the time. Just make sure you check their schedule - call ahead even. This is a family-run place and that means sometimes family comes before the restaurant.

Neighbors and friends warned us that the pizza at Hungry Howies was pretty terrible. For the most part, my husband and I stayed away from HH and just made our favorite homemade pizzas. But after a long day at work and school, we were both exhausted to prepare anything for dinner. So, we took the leap and ordered a large "works" with the garlic butter crust and a junior cheese pizza for our 5 year-old from Hungry Howies because: 1. We were hungry...starving..and we couldn't see straight. 2. We felt too lazy to cook...too lazy to make PBJ or Ramen. 3. This is the only pizza place out of the two pizza establishments in town that deliver...yeah, our town is THAT small. One large "works" and a junior cheese pizza ran us about $24 and we wished there were a tad more toppings on our pizza and maybe a usable discount coupon that would satisfy the pizza we really wanted, but that would be the only gripe. Our pizzas were delivered in a short time... just under 25-30 minutes, it was tasty and we were satisfied. It wasn't the "terrible" pizza that folks had warned us about, but perhaps we got them on a good day or perhaps HH is actually a decent pizza place. If you order, get the garlic butter crust (there are several crust flavors). It really adds to the overall flavor of the pizza. So, bottom line, Hungry Howies makes a decent pie. It's not California Pizza Kitchen and there is nothing really artisan about HH, but give 'em a try and see what you think. In a pinch, we'll certainly order from Hungry Howies again.

Avoid this place at all costs! Have tried five different times to go through the drive thru, each time takes well over ten minutes and they have yet to get our order correct each time. Drive another mile and go to the Freeport Cafe!
