What it lacks in ambiance it more than makes up for in down home friendliness. Everyone of the staff was sincerely interested in making sure we were satisfied with our food. It's byob and you can by it next door at the Citgo. They totally don't mind you storing in their cooler(probably bc a good portion of the patrons forget theirs when they leave, as we did) It's a real trip to flavor town. Brings your cash bc they don't take plastic. Grab a coupon book by the register when you order, you can BOGO.

It is a bit of a kneejerk reaction to want to turn around in the parking lot - after all, let's recall the pizza you normally associate with a gas station. At worst, microwaved 7-11 slices. At best, a lukewarm Godfather's or Papa John's pie. I originally recommended The Pizza Joint to our group based of off reviews, and I had second through fifth thoughts as we walked through the parking lot. As soon as we got inside and took a look at the oven, my worries were alleviated. It isn't the best wood-fired pizza place, but it is still damn good. And there is NOTHING like this in Citrus County. We were staying in Crystal River and had no problem driving to Dunnellon to get this pizza. If everyone in your party is settled on pizza, don't think about it, just come out and get the best pizza available.

Best pizza in the free world. The owner is there most days and cooks the pizzas himself. Don't let the outside worry you. It's small but very clean. Our first time we were driving by with our windows down and smelled the pizza. Have been dozens of times and never unhappy. Cash only.

Yes, The Pizza Joint is connected to a gas station; there are only four tables inside (but a few outside too!!), and they only take cash. Do not let these things scare you! The Pizza Joint has phenomenal food and service. They serve traditional wood-fired pizza as well as some other more creative options. We always get the wings and the cheese pizza; however, we have tried the all the way pizza, philly cheese steak, salad, and cheese bread and have never been disappointed. Look for their coupons in the free local coupon books or hit them up for $7.99 cheese pizzas on Wednesdays.

So we were driving up the nature coast and decided to Yelp a place to eat...Pizza sounded good so we decided to try this joint (pun intended.) We pulled up and got a glance of this little hole in the wall attached to a gas station convenience store. But don't let the outside fool you. The inside was full of goodness. It is a small restaurant but they will be knocking down a wall for more space according to the owner. By the way, the owner was very friendly and great to talk to. We enjoyed the meat pizza. Delicious crust...don't let the charred crust fool you...it is meant to be like that and tastes awesome, sauce was very good and toppings were great. Could use a little more cheese, but I can understand not wanting to take away from the crust and toppings. My son had some wings that I am glad I tried...great flavor. All in all great food...a little pricy...very friendly.

Amazing pizza, perfectly baked with a wonderful slight char to the crust. Great high quality meat, cheese and veggie toppings that are cooked through nicely. Calzones stuffed with house made pulled pork and cheese also available along with salads and subs too. Cash only. Very friendly owner/chef. In a small strip next to a gas station. Open kitchen with a great wood fired oven in view.

Tonight was our 40th anniversary and my husband told me he would take me to dinner anywhere I wanted to go - I said let's get our favorite pizza (The Works with extra cheese ) bottle of wine and set outback in front of the fireplace. Couldn't have had anything better... You're the best

Had great food. Staff were all friendly. House wings along with the pies are great. Specialty pizza's were tempting and would like to return for some of their subs.

We were vacationing in the area for a week and were really impressed with the pizza! I'm originally from New York so I have high expectations. I would NOT call this NY style pizza, but it was excellent nonetheless. The crust was the best I've ever had, probably due to their wood oven. Hoping I'm back in this area someday so I can return!

Went last night and got one of the last tables available. We ordered two pies, a meat lover's add garlic and the shrimp fra Diablo. Both were awesome. The service was quick and courteous. I have been there many times for take out, this was my first dine in. Place is small but nothing better than the pie right out of the wood fired oven. They only accept cash, so come prepared. Let it be know we drove 45mins. to dine here. I will return soon. Make sure you grab a loft of bread on the way out, for it makes some of the best french toast, if your into that.

Two words the best pizza we have ever tried and so glad we found out new place to eat! The atmosphere was so friendly welcoming and just awesome! The flavor, size and taste of the pepperoni pizza was cooked to perfection! Best pizza ever!!!!!

Fabulous wood fired wings, better than fried! The truely home made meatballs are great on the pizza. The pizza was perfect, lots of vegetables, not too much cheese or salt. Better than south Philly, and I'm a Philly boy. If you visit Crystal River you must make the drive, it's only 10 or 15 minutes. The owners are great, friendly and committed to making the best pies and food. Damn good.

Even better then 5 stars, the Pizza is fantastic and don't worry it doesn't have a burned taste because of the wood oven. Treat your taste buds and try the pizza joint, you won't be sorry =)

First of all, I'm a pizza snob from NYC. Tonight was only our first time eating here, but we will be back. It is by far the best pizza in Citrus County. It's prepared in a wood fired oven by a person who obviously cares a lot about putting out great food. The crust rivals the really good crusts in NYC.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
