Quaint little place that we've been to before just for pizza which was worth coming back again for, however tonight we had complete meals that were delicious and authentic. We started with the artichoke hearts appetizer which was outstanding. My wife had the chicken piccata which was very good and I had the chicken florentine which was also very good. Pretty much all you can ask for in a little Italian restaurant fresh good food, friendly service from Michelle and reasonable prices. We'll be back again really soon.

If you think "Chicago Pizza" is actually pizza.....you can stop reading now. This isn't for you.... are you tired of all these horrible pizza joints who claim they make "Real NY Pizza"? This is the place I steer my friends to when they ask.... Umberto's of Long Island in Dunedin is the only way to go. I'm a Pizza snob. To me..I have to have a Pizza that has a slight char underneath. When I bite into the pie....I want to experience an initial "snap", followed by my teeth bighting into a pillowy dough. Finally, the dough has to have a certain amount of elasticity (gluten) as I pull the pizza away while biting down. THAT perfect mix is what a NY pizza must have...and every pie I have ordered at this restaurant since the 1970's delivers this. Their sauce is simple and light, never over powering...never sweet or acidic.... and of course they offer a variety of toppings. I'm a minimalist and typically order just pepperoni. And oh by the way....their pizza cheese is from Italy, not Sargento. Additionally, their large pies are 16"....not the typical 12" or 14" so many places are serving now. Call them....order a pie and dine in or carry out. I promise you that once you try their pie..you won't want it from anywhere else in Tampa Bay. I literally think their pie is equivalent to Lombardi's Pizza in Little Italy. (without the brick oven)

Excellent pizza and service! They sometimes have Italian ricotta cheesecake, one of my favorites.

I'm happy. Being a transplanted Long Islander I was in heaven when I found Umberto's of Long Island. Sat down to eat. Small calzone with side of sauce. Authentic. Crispy. Delicious. Then we ordered a sicilian pie. Very good. I had some of my wife's chicken eggplant. Good. She loved it. The only downside is the place is a little too dark inside. But the experience was 5 stars. Thanks!

Had dinner here last week. I ordered the Chicken Piccata again and true to my other two experiences, the chicken was thinly sliced, very white chicken, with a delicious creamy lemon wine sauce filled with capers. Chicken and sauce were served over the spaghetti option; they offer several. Absolutely delicious as always. Wife, brother, and sister in law all very happy with their pastas and salads. We'll be back many more times.

Garden pizza is delish. Tasted healthy and not heavy. Seemed low sodium and on the lighter side. Great service and a family owned business. Will definitely go back!

I'm sure everything is great on the menu but my family always orders the eggplant parm and pizza. These are just perfect so we haven't strayed from our favorites. If you close your eyes while eating the pizza it's like you're in NYC without the traffic or weather. The staff is always professional and friendly

I grew up on Umbertos food on Long Island, New Hyde Park to be exact. Do yourself a favor and eat here, you will not be disappointed. Never, and I mean never, had a bad meal. Everything is scratch made and great service.

Best peperoni pizza in the area! Main entrees are a bit on the expensive side, and alcohol is very over priced compared to competitors. Staff is always welcoming and friendly. Love this quiet little treasure.

Went in last night for a pizza and salad. We were not given a wine menu but I asked what the house wine was. The waitress said they had Chiante, valpollicello, et al. So I ordered a bottle of wine. When the bill came the wine was $40!!I am extremely upset, I would never pay that for wine to go with my pizza and salad. The waitress never told us the price we never had a wine list and the wine cost was not listed on the basic menu. The people in the table next to us had the same problem with ordering their wine also. They were also overcharged for their wine and they got up and left. I complained to the owner But he was not interested in hearing my complaint and began to verbally fight with me. I left and will never go back.highway robbery! Come on, $40!?

I needed to pick up my problematic car at the Pat's Auto next door, and since I was late they kindly left my keys with Umberto's. My wife and I figured, why not? Let's try it! We were greeted by the staff, presented our keys after passing a few fun tests, and ushered to the back to a nice table. With no preconceived notions, I ordered a large white pie (with four cheeses!) plus meatballs. I gotta say, this pizza was New York's (Long Island's) finest. Easy to pick up a slice in one hand and very very tasty. In fact, I'm hooked now. To make it better, we had Lavazza espresso at the end of the meal. This Italian coffee is my absolute favorite and this is the first place around here we've found that serves it! Yowza! Now, when my car decides to shred more parts, I'll look forward to taking it to Pat's so I can eat at Umberto's, every time!

I had the chicken florentine, which is a blush sauce (half red, half white) and it was excellent. Had the chicken Marsala on my previous visit and it was only okay to me. They have good cannolis and a great selection of wine. The inside dining space is very small on the inside, but I've never felt crowded. Great Italian food!

I've driven by this place hundreds of times in the past several years. To be honest I wish I had kept driving and not stopped in on this evening. First off I want to say I have the utmost respect for servers. It's a hard job, one that I know I couldn't do. But our server Mel, well, lets just say she was a part of this 1 star review. The place is kinda cool when you walk in murals on the walls and such. One half of the length of the restaurant was seating, the other kitchen, prep area, waitstaff station. We were seated right away, sprite for my Bride, soda water with lemon for me. And here it starts..... The soda water tasted like..er..ah...crap. They must not filter the water, just nasty. So up grade to their bottled water. My Bride asked Mel if she could order what she wanted in the Calzone? Sure. She ordered green peppers, onions, and Mozzarella cheese. She also ordered a Caesar salad ( up charge here) with the homemade dressing that Mel said they make in-house. The salad was Just ok. (We seriously doubt that the dressing was homemade.) The Calzone....not so much. It had pepperoni instead of green peppers! My wife doesn't like spicy food that's why she opted out of the pepperoni in the first place! So after showing the error to Mel she says that it was her fault, and she'll bring out some peppers. When she returned they were raw, when she saw our displeasure, she then takes them back and heats them up. What a disaster. Instead of saying sorry let me make this right she just walks away! So here is my wife pulling out pepperoni and stuffing warm half cooked peppers into her overdone excuse for a calzone. I ordered Baked Ziti with a side of sausage. Caesar salad came with my meal. Any time I've ordered this dish in the past, it comes in a pasta bowl. This was served on a plate and not baked. It was unremarkable to say the least. About half way through our ....meal, I noticed bread on the other tables, so I asked Mel do we get bread with our meals? She says yea ok I'll get you some. Really?? Due to the low ceilings, the noise level was horrible. Keep in mind 25% of the tables were taken. So I don't know if this is how it's done on Long Island, but we'll keep driving past Umbertos from now on.

If you want REAL NEW YORK PIZZA, this is the place! The dough and sauce are classic and just perfect together. The owners and staff are friendly and I feel like I'm up north again, visiting my brother in the city. I love this pizza and am so happy to live two minutes away, since they don't deliver. Their Italian menu is extensive, portions are generous and taste is on par with their pizza. The inside dining area is surprisingly cosy and holds more tables than you might think. Try dining inside sometime; the waitstaff is friendly and efficient and the wine is unpretentious and good.

Have eaten here twice, once take out and once sit down service. Take out was good got pizza and pasta and everyone enjoyed it. Sit down was not as good. Seating is a little odd there aren't many small tables so we had to squeeze between two large parties to sit at one of the few small tables. We got a different waitress after making our drink order but the transition was smooth. The food was a let down. I got gnocchi and it was store bought frozen and not prepared well. Even though the sauce was good the pasta was not. Hubby got spaghetti and his was over cooked and mushy. We will try again because the pizza was good, but I think we will stick to take out.

Sicilian pizza was very good and surprisingly airy - a nice touch for a pie that is usually made like a brick. Pasta del mar was right on par and perfect for family-style ordering. Be sure to add in a delicious cannoli and espresso for dessert.

Visit time/day: dinner weekday Atmosphere: casual, cozy, unpretentious Italian style decor We moved to the area in late December 2012 and are trying restaurants. We chose Umbertos because it's been around a while and looked like a family owned restaurant. We ordered Chicken Parmigiana and an Umbertos Special (Sausage, Pepperoni, Mushrooms, Onions, Green peppers, Xtra Cheese) thin crust pizza. I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana with a side salad and pasta with their marinara sauce. The salad was lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and a cucumber slice with their house dressing (oil/vinegar/spices) - fresh, but nothing impressive. The breaded Chicken filet was large and tender, but could have been seasoned a bit more, the pasta was al dente, and the marinara sauce tasted very tomato-y. The pizza was decent but had an almost homemade taste (like when your mom would make pizza at home to save money - not necessarily what I want at a pizza restaurant). The toppings were fresh and still had a little crunch, the exterior crust was crisp and delicious - the interior crust was not as crisp, maybe weighed down by all the toppings. Overall, the food was good but nothing I will dream about. The service was great and everyone was very friendly. I would go back to support a family owned restaurant providing good service but it's probably not going to be on our weekly restaurant list.

A little bit of home in Dunedin. Funky traditional Italian restaurant. Murals on the walls, faux plastering but I like it. I had chicken parmigiana and I really enjoyed it... Service was great and the capp at the end topped things off.

This restaurant was just what we needed, a real good staff, and great Italian meals. I brought 6 others people with me. They needed additional attention by the staff because of their hard of hearing. The staff was up to the task, and made the time there very nice. I will definitely be back when in Dunedin.....

Pizzas awesome. Calzones awesome. Nice people. One of the best if not the best pizza places in Dunedin. I order from here once a week. I never really eat there. Usually just pick it up but the staff always seems really friendly and nice.

Great little fmaily run restaurant to get a HUGE and yummy calzone! Definitely one of my more favorite places to go the gooey cheese mix of ricotta AND mozzarella. I personlly enjoy Spinach, ham and mushrooms in mine. Be forwarned, there is definitely enough of this to share btwn 2-3 pple in my opinion. Maybe not 3 if you're w/ boys - since they can be greedy, but you get the picture. The other food served at this place is... meh ok? not worth changing up my menu selection when i come here.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
