This place would've gotten two stars if it wasn't for the manager's swift response and EXCELLENT customer service skills. I didn't get his name but I wish I did because he COMPLETELY TURNED AROUND the situation. I literally thought to myself, "I'm never coming here again" before I spoke with him. A+++ When placing our drink orders The waitress looked at me amusingly when I asked for a virgin margarita. Strike one. The main courses hit the table, and she almost took off without offering me steak sauce. I had to ask for it. My steak was over cooked and she did not stop by our table once in OVER forty minutes to check on us. (It was fight night so everyone in the restaurant was staying put. I only saw one table turn over in her section so her excuse of being "very busy" just didn't make sense) Strike two. She didn't offer me a refill on my drink, she never came by to collect the plates until after those 40minutes I spoke of, and she didn't offer dessert. When I took her aside and mentioned how horrible her service was she didn't even offer an apology. Just an incredulous look and the excuse of she was "busy". Busy doing side work? Busy handling other tables that would've left larger tips? So busy that she couldn't even touch base in over 40min?? Im a server myself and have worked under similar circumstances on SUPERBOWL SUNDAY and other major events. Her excuse was just unacceptable. Strike three Her manager was amazing, took the matter seriously and completely rectified the situation. Most certainly will return

Went with my boyfriend and sister one night. If you're working in the service industry, you shouldn't be going around with such a shitty attitude. I work in the service industry and my day might not be going so well, but I still manage to put a smile on my face. I deal with rude and annoying customers all the time, but I still am smiling. My boyfriend, sister, and I were in no way being rude or annoying and greeted our waitress with a smile. But we ended up being totally put off by her negative attitude. Also, we ordered burgers and it took a very long time for them to come out. We were super hungry and our stomachs growled louder with every passing minute. And when they finally came out, we were even more disappointed. Yeah, they sucked too. It was my first time at Quarterdeck and my last.

Not good. Went in for lunch looking for a healthy piece of fish. First, the restaurant is dirty. It smells musty as though the a/c isn't working properly. The carpet is filthy. Hostess was aloof at best. I ordered the salmon and veggies. Not bad, but overcooked. Waiter was quite good. Friendly and professional. I like other quarterdecks. This one needs some attention from corporate.

It was a lucky day! Being tourists, we were looking for something great but expecting little as we walked into this restaurant. The lunchtime ambience is that of empty sports bar, with a few stragglers and regulars throughout. Our dozen raw oysters were big and tasty! Better yet, the lobster bisque and the New England clam chowder was out of this world! It stands in stark contrast to the red lobster nearby, where their lobster bisque and clam chowder ran a distant third. I can't believe that we lucked into finding exactly what we were looking for and more!

Last night...Saturday....the family wanted to go out to dinner. Smokey Bones...50 min wait...Chili's...45 min wait...Flanigan's...45 min wait...Buca...50 min wait....Quarterdeck right next to Buca? no wait. We should have seen the sign. The place is clean, staff is nice. It was cool out, and we were immediately seated outside. I've stopped here for a few drinks at the bar & the bar staff has always done a good job...but I'm pretty sure the most I've eaten here is a couple appetizers. Last night we ordered calamari, 2 different burgers (both medium) & a blackened dolphin san. The sides for the burgers were tater tots & mac n chz (by far, the 2 best parts of the meal). Both burgers were well done and the fish san was over cooked & dry too. The calamari...apparently they dont know that the tentacles cook much faster than the rings do. The rings were just a bit overcooked but the tentacles were horribly chewy. I spit it out. The 10 yr old son was too hungry to complain about his burger & ate 3/4 of it. The 14 yr old daughter ate 2 bites. We all ate the tater tots & mac n chz. Apparently they do have a good happy hour...even on a Saturday night ( 2 4 1) which would be the only reason I would return. Maybe next time we'll go to happy hour here while waiting for a table at buca ;-)

I am a seafood lover, so naturally I had to try this place because of those who raved about the lobster bisque... It was good but not amazing I would probably order it again but it's not the best I've ever had next I tried the lobster roll, I don't know what it is about southern states and lobster rolls. They add lettuce and celery, I'm from up north and am not use to the celery and lettuce so when I ordered it I assumed it would be the way I enjoy it since the menu didn't mention the additions to the lobster and mayo. The waitress noticed I was unhappy with my meal and offered to fix it, so I got the sausage and shrimp po boy. WOW what a difference this was really great with different flavors, which I enjoyed. My boyfriend ordered the tuna philly rare. He loved it, I had a few bites and it was fantastic. The service was great out waitress was quick and friendly and the manager was pleasant to talk to and made sure we were happy with our meal. Overall, this place had nice service for a late dinner and the food was good but nothing I would go out of the way to eat again.

Service was fine. But the place is just gross now, and food is bleh. I guess if your drinking it's good but I'll never go back there to eat. A complete 180 from the one on dania beach! :/

I recently visited quarter deck and I know I can't expect much from bar food but I had my worst meal ever!!! I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich... safe choice... I think!?!?! Wrong! The bread was hard, the chicken lacked flavor and the blue cheese dressing tasted like spoiled ranch. It was a complete waste of money. I would have been better off going to the Wendy's next door.

Oh my, how this place has fallen. We used to come here quite often when the the boys were little because they had a nice kid's menu. Back then some items on the menu were decent including the soup and fresh fish. Fast forward to tonight and most of the items were just bad: Lobster Bisque: Weird consistency. It had no creaminess and no lobster (not even a taste of it) French Onion Soup: So salty I could barely stomach a taste without spitting it out! Fish Dip: Seemed fresh and was somewhat tasty Caesar Salad: Dressing had no flavor Sautéed Snapper: Flavorless & not sure if it was fresh Burger: 12 year old liked it but he could not finish it because after eating a third of it he was in the rest room for the rest of the meal. Was it the burger, fish dip, or just coincidence? Buffalo Chicken Sandwich: 10 year old loved this. Said it was crispy, juicy, and had great flavor. Buffalo Shrimp: I had one and could not eat any more. I ordered it mild and it was pretty spicy. The coating was not crispy at all. At this point for dinner I decided to stick with my.... Loaded Baked Potato: it was fine but it would be hard to do damage to a baked potato! Service was good. Our server kept asking us what she could do to make it better however I really did not want to risk trying anything else. She offered to change out the Buffalo Shrimp that I did not touch. She really should have just taken it off the bill. Needless to say we will not be returning.

The staff and service here is amazing! Great menu, beer selection, and fun atmosphere. 3 dozen clams for $16.99? Can't beat that! We will definitely be back!!

Been coming here for a year and a half now for some post-exam fun. They have tons of indoor and outdoor seating so you never really have to wait. They have pretty decent prices for their drinks and a good selection of draft beers to choose from. They recently added new cocktails to their menu and I must say, they are tasty and give you a nice buzz. My favorite of their new drinks include the strawberry lemonade, the blue & gold, and the mango mojito. These new cocktails range anywhere from $7-12, but there's always happy hour so stop by and try them out! The food here is like at any other Florida bar, but they do have one gem of an item that I always get: tater tots. I don't know what they do to cook them, but they always come out super light and crispy. You won't get weighed down by an insane amount of grease. They also have good portion sizes so you get a bang for your buck. Overall this is a good place for a quick drink and munchies. So if you're in the area and don't have much time to spare, I recommend stopping by.

3 stars is about right. Nice people, great location, but there offerings are as average as it gets. Nothing worth eating on the menu. More a place to hang out, catch up with friends, grab a drink and see some of the game. Not a destination restaurant until they upgrade the choices.

  • Daniel M.

Great place to chill and have some drinks. Food is bar food so don't expect 5 star meals. I recommend the burger which pretty damn good for the price. Wings are decent as well. Looking forward to the remodel of this place which is happening summer 2015.

After having stopped going to this location of the Quarterdeck chain for about a year, SWMBO and I returned for lunch with a friend. My wife teaches less than a mile from here and we used to live across the golf course from here as well. We ate here at least weekly for years. Bad service, mediocre food and, frankly, a kind of dirty atmosphere had soured us. I noticed on the way in that management had not changed, but I hoped maybe enough staff had.Overall, the visit was a success. Upon walking in, there was not that stale beer-urine smell that had become noticeable before. Also, the place looked a little shinier. The waiter was attentive and not too "hover-y". I ordered the fish tacos, as I usually do. They have a good version here. Not great, but also not disappointing. They had new menus since last time and now the tacos are listed as made with mahi. That was great. They used to make them with Tilapia and I would always see if I could pay the 2 bucks extra for mahi. The Tilapia ones were always $9.99 and these mahi ones were menued at $11.99. even up on the price, but now I don't have to ask. They have always given the option of grilled, blackened or fried with the fish and I rotate around depending on mood. I got the fried today. The plate is three 6" soft flour tacos with rice and beans. They give you a dollop each of sour cream and guacamole and a tablespoon of fresh salsa on a small bed of shredded lettuce with these. If you've seen my reviews of other fish tacos, you know my stance on lettuce instead of cabbage. No Bueno. I was also not in the mood for rice today and it came to me in a flash. Order cole slaw instead. You see, I had some tacos at Southport Raw Bar a while back that had cole slaw on them instead of just shredded cabbage. although I was a little wary, they turned out dynamite. You can check that review if you like. Anyway, the cole slaw made these a little better than they normally are. i could have used a spicy component to offset the sweetness of the slaw, but I'll try that addition next time. The place is looking up. Hopefully it wasn't an aberration. I wouldn't mind going back a little more often again.

I've come here a few times to have a drink, some food, and chill out for a bit. I must say the bartenders and servers are attentive and friendly, but the food is pretty mediocre. I liked the lobster and lobster chowder, but the fishsticks were just awful. I don't mind coming here for a couple of drinks, but if I am in the mood for some great food I take my butt elsewhere. On the plus side, those swinging benches in the outside dining are a bit fun! Three stars for the staff, drinks, and anything lobster!

This place used to be great, not sure what happened. I think that the business went north and south on university. The wait staff has gotten slower along with the business. Waited 30 minutes for a burnt buffalo chicken sandwich that was all grissle (fo shizzle). Drink refills took 15 minutes and asking for the check was like waiting for christ to return. IT WASN'T EVEN BUSY. Probably still a decent place to sit at a bar and watch a game but food, no.

I never had the Tuna Philly, but I'm sure to try it after reading the other reviews. Some time ago I had the Pork Osso Bucco which was moist, tasty, tender, and just out of this world! I've ordered it quite a number of times since and unfortunately, was terribly disappointed. It had become consistently tougher, dry, and less tasty (the server staff agreed with me that it had changed). Not to be dissuaded, I have tried and found that they make an excellent Bacon Cheeseburger, and their Lobster Bisque soup is superb, so I remain a fan. They also serve a great Margarita on the rocks.

I've only been here once, but I have to rave about their specials menu. I was craving seafood one night while driving down University with my husband, so we pulled into the Quarterdeck to check it out. Pros: low-key ambience, cool aquarium, happy hour buckets of beer. But the best part was that we only paid $9.99/each for 1lb of snow crab legs. It was delicious, and they were cooked perfectly. Our total bill was less than $30 for a bucket of beer and our meals. Can't beat that. Cons: there was a child's birthday party going on while we were there, and this evil-looking clown stared at me the whole time. Between the loud children and the creepy clown, I was just skeeved out. I don't know if the clown is provided by The QD or if the family hired her, but still, that sort of put a damper on my experience.

I looooove going to Quarterdeck. Most of what can be said has been said, but they do have good food, and I've never been disappointed. Service has also been pretty good over the years as well. Two things of note to mention: 1. TUNA PHILLY: they will also make it super-rare - yay. 2. Outside seating - the tables/chairs/benches are actually swings - super cool!

  • Ikam A.

I really love this Quarterdeck. It's rarely packed, and the food is always good. I usually get the same few things on the menu, but the other day I tried the salmon and it was amazing! They put some mango salsa on it that was delicious. Must try that again. They have good drink specials, and even though the parking lot looks full sometimes, there's usually tables available, so we've never had to wait. I'm definitely a frequent diner there. The waitresses are really nice and one in particular already knows what we're having before we tell her. Free wi-fi is a plus.

I stopped here real quick passing by NOVA. Service was fast and attentive. Pay attention for the 2-4-1 and you can laugh at the NOVA students falling over each other during HH and tripping over the rocking bench tables.

This is a fairly decent alternative to the Ale House. Food is pretty good....drinks are great. Laid back and casual atmosphere.

Dinner for four - two kids, two adults. Sat us down at the breeziest table, with the AC right on top of us. Not a great start. She gave my son the kids' menu/games, without crayons- but she caught that mistake and brought us some quickly. Good move. The waitress was polite and cute, a big point in their favor. Menu is heavy on seafood - if a pirate walked in here, it wouldn't surprise me. The conch chowder was super tasty. Chock full of conch, with a spicy edge. Kids mini burgers were well made, and the fries super crispy. That's how we like em! The steamed clams were tasty, but they didn't warn us they were steamed with oil and herbs. Tasty, but I like them plain (my wife loved the flavor). The blackened Mahi was super fresh and tasty, and the sweet potato perfectly baked. Overall, a decent place for a "down home" seafood meal.

Although I am not a huge fan of sports bar, I happen to like the Quaterdeck. Every time I go, I like to sit outside. The tables outside are picnic style with rocking chairs (you have to see it to understand). They have 2 for ones happy hour but it only applies to the house wines. Also, when you sit outside, you have to deal with the smokers. Although, I usually do not mind something about foods and cigarettes is kind of gross.

I decided to try this location after having eaten at another location many years ago. The waitress was excellent and she checked on me and refilled my drinks often. The place was really packed because there was a UFC fight on pay-per-view so I imagine a lot of folks came to eat and watch the fight. I ordered the full rack of ribs with a baked potato and started with a caesar salad. The salad was really good and they give you a pretty big salad for only $2.99 with an entree. The ribs were not great and had more fat on them then I would have wanted. I think I'll probably stick to the burgers and wings from now on. This appears to be a great place to watch the NFL on Sunday as well since they have an excellent tv setup.

The Quarterdeck is a solid bar. They have a nice tented outdoors area, a pool table, and good happy hour specials - pitchers that come with nachos or wings, perfect for sharing with a group. The booze isn't cheap, but hello, this is South Florida. It is the kind of place you'd visit once or twice, then never think about again, if it wasn't for one serious sandwich. THE TUNA PHILLY. This decadent, delicious treat is a hoagie roll filled with ahi tuna, peppers, and melted cheese. They let you customize your level of done-ness, and it comes with a side of tasty cole slaw. Not that you are noticing that at all, because once you have dived into the sandwich, there is no reason to surface until you are full of Tuna Philly Goodness. My friends have nicknamed it "The Sammich," and it is a meal revered above all others. It is probably the best sandwich you will ever eat. It is DEFINITELY the best $8.99 sandwich you will ever eat.

    (4)
  • Michelle S.

The food is not great. I've had their burger, their fries and both were bland. However, their ahi tuna appetizer and their sweet potato waffle fries are a 5 turning my 2 into a 3. Plus their happy hour is great and their outdoor seating makes for a fun meeting place after work with a larger party.

Went here for the first time yesterday for lunch. First impressions it was noisy and a bit shabby. I ordered the Fish and Chips and my husband ordered the Rack of Ribs. My fish was dark, dark brown but I thought maybe that is there way but it was just plain BURNT. When the waitress came around I asked if this was normally dark and she said NO but I thought if you didnt like it I would get your another one, which she did - Burnt Again! Again, she came back and asked and I had to admit it was nearly as bad as the first and she agreed with me!!! Trying to not blame her I suggested the oil was too hot maybe and she agreed, again, and said it was probably old oil!! She said she would send the manager over and then came back and said she would just take it off the bill. I cant believe she served me my dish knowing it was burnt TWICE!! Oh by, the way my husbands ribs were fatty and charred burnt. We will not be going back!

I was really pleased with the Jupiter location so we thought we'd give this one a try. We probably won't go back to this one. We arrived at 4:00 and were hungry. We sat outside with the dog. We are thrilled to have a place we can go where we can bring the dog. My husband had to go in after 20 minutes and let someone know we were there, which can happen. But it went downhill from there. The waitress came out in about 5 minutes and took our drink order. She returned after another 10-15 minutes and apologized for taking so long. She took our food order and we sat there another 20 minutes before she brought out everything we ordered which consisted of a salad, and a full order of ribs. We would have appreciated the salad while waiting for the entree. We had said we would be sharing everything, but she did not bring additional dishes. Add to this that the ribs were burned to a crisp and dried out. The manager did try to rectify the situation, but perhaps we should have ordered burgers instead. The replacement ribs were dry although not burnt. The potato was fine. We did not eat the ribs and the manager looked frustrated. He was out two racks of ribs and we really did not have much to eat that day.

Average Bar food joint The wings are good but the burgers are nothing to write home about.

This is the best neighborhood bar in Davie. Too bad we moved to North. We have a business in Davie too so we come in as mush as we can while we are down here. We love the servers and always enjoy the bartenders. MaryAnne, RT and Dave are one good reason to hang out longer. We always try to bring other family members with us when we drop it. Thanks for trading coupons with our comp. in the past. Hope to do more promotions with you guys again. See you so. Always hungry for your food. T. & R.

The outdoor patio picnic tables are the kind you might find at a park, where the wood is so old it seems perpetually damp. The beer selection is not great(fat tire gets a price hike because it's considered a "craft beer"), the margaritas overpriced and they don't seem to put salt on them unless you ask. This is the kind of place that might put sugar on the rim of your margarita and try to get away with it. I might give it a three if the servers were really nice(although I enjoy Michaels flirtiness), but they are just not great. Everything about this place says mediocrity to me, which is fine if you're a cheap dive. This should be a cheap dive, but the prices are absurd. Ten dollars for a one lb hot dog, for example. Why not pay 2 dollars for a delicious hot dog from a Home Depot and spare yourself the utterly disgusting feeling you MUST feel from eating a one lb hot dog? I think I'd be less disgusted working in porn or some other type of whoring than if I were to eat that beast. No thanks! This place gets two stars because proximity to a gas station means you can sneak in flaming hots or a bag of chips of your choice! :)

I was very disappointed in this place. when we first arrived the restaurant was mostly empty. we were ignored (when the discussion started about just walking out) somebody came over and with the excitement of someone who is going for a dental cleaning, walked us to a table. I noticed the wait staff chatting a lot more than working. the food was subpar (I was not expecting gourmet) the plastic plate had a big chip missing from it. the food was pretty bad and the service was without a smile. I am very simple, I do not ask any questions, I do not have any requests, I always smile and say please and thank you. and I never complain. I just never go back. they need to update this place, give it a really good cleaning and hire happier people. the food needs revamped too.

Place is really loud but the clams are excellent. ..the lobster bisque was so so...and the lobster roll I had was pretty good...this is a nice easy going place to eat at..

It's weird that I can like the other Quarterdecks so much but not this one. Service is pretty slow and not too friendly, and you get some really unbelievably loud people yelling their heads off in the place. I know it isn't exactly a fine dining place, I expect some noise, but jeez, the crowd here is really d-baggish. Food is okay, not great, like the other Quarterdecks. Prices are pretty good, again same as the others. But the staff just seems like they're putting up with everyone, and the crowd is beyond annoying.

Love this place! Close to campus, good daily drink specials, nice outdoor rocking seating, and TVs everywhere. This is a good lunch or dinner spot. The mac n cheese looks like the boxed stuff but surprisingly good. Good buffalo sandwich, shrimp on ice could be a little better but still good, and delicious chicken pecan salad. Try out if you're in the area. Sit outside!!!

Ordered the BBQ chicken and mac n cheese. It was the driest chicken I've ever seen or took a bite of...I sent it back....by the time the new chicken arrived my family was done with their meals. The new chicken wasn't as dry...but it was tasteless!! The service was slow...at best.....I'm putting a big "no way...never again" next to this one!

Quarterdeck is an average bar/diner type place. Food is good but not mind blowingly amazing. They are slow when packed and fast when not. Seating is available by the bar, at tables inside, or these cool swing like benches outside (suggested). There bar is standard though they do have a few more beers then the average south Florida place. In short: - Very decent food and bar - nice out door seating area

  • Marisol C.

Disappointed with this place. Service was good but the food left something to be desired. The jambalaya pasta had generous amounts of veggies but I managed to only find 2 small pieces of chicken and about one sausage link cut up in small pieces. It was more of a veggie pasta. It wasn't at all what I expected. The Louisiana oyster presentation wasn't impressive either. Instead of sitting atop a bed of ice it was hovering over a few ice cubes. Needless to say I won't be going back there.

The food was good, service was fast, price was reasonable, portions were very large. I suggest the "handmade" cheeseburger with bacon and a fried egg.

DON'T GET THE PRIME RIB SPECIAL! $9.99 sounded great - this thin piece of rubbery meat had a taste an texture of leather rather than what I expected to be prime rib. I am far from a picky eater and I know a bit about food. This place gets decent reviews too. I was thoroughly disappointed. On the plus side, the waitress was very friendly and helpful. And my interactions with other staff there were great too. The servers and staff get 5 stars from me. The food, 2... not sure I am willing to try something else there at this point.

just left one of my grossest restaurant expeiences ever. I had previously only been to the quarterdeck on Dania or Ft Lauderdale beach and both of those establishments have always been top shelf in service, quality, and value. Now the QD on University......pretty shabby. Son had the childrens sliders and the buns had large spots of blue mold on them. Manager responded by stating that they get their bread delivered fresh daily, and just stared at us. I advised him that it was all a set up and i smuggled in some moldy buns that were exactly like theirs.....he said ok and offered to have some new sliders brought to us, sans buns. The manager returned with some extra fries and some extra something on his chin and face, not really sure if he got to close while sniffing the conch chowder or was getting in a few snacks in between customers. Rest of the food was sub par and was on the plate in a manner that reminded me of the episode of Orange is the New Black from last week. All in all, i will not be going back to that Quarterdeck.

My family and I just recently went to this restaurant for dinner and the only positive was the server was nice and very responsive but that was it. The food is horrible. My husband got the tuna tacos and the fish was clearly frozen previously and it was served with nothing more than the fish and maybe a piece of american cheese melted on it. We would have gotten a better taco at taco bell. My son got the prime rib special and the meat was disgusting was like eating a tire and with no flavor and the baked potato was very small and overcooked. I got the turkey club and how can you mess that up so it was ok. If you are looking for good prices on happy hour and maybe some fried bar food this is your place, but if you are looking for good food I would go somewhere else!!!!

Afternoon service is awesome, while evening is a bit more average in my experience. The Lobster Bisque is to die for --- basically as close to perfection as physically possible, and super filling at a great price. Drinking here can get a bit dangerous if you don't stick to the low-price domestics (or even if you do, in my experience). Overall an enjoyable place to visit.

I have been to Quarterdeck a couple of times. Each time me or one of my friends order a burger, they get the order wrong...among many many other things. Once my friend ordered a well done burger, it came out medium rare. Another time, my boyfriend ordered a burger with pepper jack cheese and they have him cheddar. When he told he waitress she just scrapped the cheese off and added the pepper jack cheese! If I was the chef I'd just make a new burger! Also, another time I ordered a tuna fish sandwich to go, and when I went home I found hair in it. And then multiple times they messed up my tater tot order by making them soggy when I requested them extra crispy. Plus, the service is slow. Whenever my friends suggest this place I always tell them we should go somewhere else because the food and service are lacking! I haven't been back in a while. I hope you find a better experience then me.
