What can I say about HTB? In Chicago this franchise is known a Old Country Buffet and it was one of the buffets that I missed going to when I moved here. They have a very impressive selection and now they offer $5 buffet on Sat. & Sun. mornings that can't be beat. Make sure you check out their menu choices because they change daily.

I have been here before but Tuesday's seems like a good day. Not overly packed. The kids also eat free. The roast beef was very good and so was the steak. Have to make several trips to get your fill. Price was definitely good. Family of four less than $24.00 to eat.

This buffet has a huge selection of things. I enjoy coming here without feeling rushed to leave by the wait staff. The food has great taste and it is always being replinished. The food did taste fresh which is hard to find from a buffet. I love the location of the shopping center where it is at. It is kind of hidden, but not hard to find. It is a great place to take the family and it is not expensive!

Cheaper than most buffet chains but the selection is less than the others so there's an equivalent trade off. Typical American food like all the other places.

god awful almost impossible to find anything worth eating....I guess it's better then the food @ the old age home but not by much!

I went for lunch, and the place was packed. With good reason -- all the food tasted fresh and well-prepared by buffet standard. Nice succulent roast chicken, meatloaf, really good sweet and sour chicken, fish nuggets, decent dessert selection, really good cabbage and carrots. And all for under $10. One of the best values in the area.

A great place to take the family when everyone wants something different. I go here about 4-5 times a year. I usually go with my family of 5 plus my parents. It has something for everyone. My husband loves the fried chicken, I like the meatloaf, kids like the taco & salad bars. People need to remember it's a buffet, not a 5 star steak restaurant. The desserts are small so you can get more than one without feeling like a pig. The corn chowder is great too. Every time I have been the servers have been excellent & kind.

Short burst of patrons come and go. Plenty of available seats/booths. The buffet selection is so so. When I eat here every couple of months there seems to be no food type rotation during the week. The waitresses are nice and friendly and readily available to clear the table. My lunch price was $11.43 w/tax (soft drink bar, etc. included). $8.49 price if you drink water.

Definitely not the best buffet I've been to. I came here once about 6 years ago and I know why I haven't been back. I came here this past weekend (Sept 2013) and I vow never to come back. The meat is below average, very under cooked and the flavor is unimpressive, and the salad bar is sad.. Don't even get me started on the dessert bar. You're better off going to golden corral....

"If you want to eat a lot of low quality and mostly unhealthy food for a reasonable price, this is the place for you. For me, the best I can say its that our server, Bonnie, was a nice lady and the water was cold. Oh, and the bathroom was clean.

The food was not bad for a buffet. But the entire staff was awesome. Everyone was friendly and polite. I was impressed. For me, it was a change of pace and different. The location is great.

I've seen HomeTown Buffet's ads on TV so I figured I'd give it a try. Oh, how I wish I had my $13 back. The restaurant is organized like any other buffet. You pay the cashier and serve yourself food and drinks. I'll come back to the food quality in a moment. Then you sit down, eat your food. If you beg one of the people who is wearing a nametag sincerely enough you may, (mind you I said may) have your plates taken away/ get any other service you may need. I get that at a buffet you are not going to receive the same level of service that you would at a sit-down restaurant, but none is unacceptable. Frankly, if you can get an employee/manager's attention, they act like they are moving the Earth to listen to you. Okay, now that I finished venting about that, let me tell you about the food: There are about five or six "islands" that each contain a few steam trays of food. The thing is, the way steam trays work is usually there is some sort of heating element beneath the food. Not here. All the food was cold. Mmm, what sounds better than chilly fried chicken and pork. Other Yelpers mentioned that the plates and silverware were dirty. I didn't notice anything egregious, but none of the servingware was shiny or pristine looking. All in all, the food was reminiscent of an underfunded hospital's cafeteria. The food is edible, but just barely so. Save yourself some disappointment and money and go somewhere else.

Yeah, I admit it I like this place. Usually we will venture to the Hollywood location but we decided to try the Davie branch for this moment of indulgence. It's a buffet, you get what you pay for. The price for dinner is cheap ($14), and lunch is ($10) so it's a pretty good value. The main difference is the presence of a carving station at dinner. There are 5 stations, with a selection of hot entrees, cold dishes, salads and desserts. Most of the items seem fresh and flavorful. There is always staff circulating around the buffet lines, rotating the dishes. It's not haute cuisine, but it doesn't taste like Sysco either. Standouts include the strip steak which was on the carving station, believe it or not it was a perfect Med Rare, The roasted acorn squash, and on the dessert end the "homemade" banana pudding. Sure there are the usual limp green beans and carrots, but the salad station is varied, crisp and fresh. If you want an inexpensive meal, that is perhaps better than McD but you don't want to spend a fortune give Hometown Buffet a shot. On a side note, both locations are similar, Davie seems a little newer and maybe a little cleaner.

I would give it ZERO stars but It won't let me. First of all the quality of food was cafeteria grade. There was absolutely no love put in while making the food. My fork smelt odd, the coleslaw was ROTTEN. I've had explosives diarrhea since I left. The service was nice but we're not going for shits and giggles were coming for food!!! even if someone paid the tab I still wouldn't go back. This is not a joke

This restaurant always has a musty smell, the plates are often dirty and the prices are always going up. The food is flavorless and low quality. Every time I eat there I feel sick after.

I've come to this place twice now, and trust me it's due to family brunches close to my grandma's place. The decor: If this place wants to survive, it needs some serious upgrade in their chairs and tables. Hometown does feel "homey" but it needs some spring cleaning. It has this really musty, gym-locker, someone-hasn't-taken-a-shower smell. It really clashed with my food. I notice some of their glasses and utensils are not properly cleaned, or rather, there's still some specks of old food from previous users... ummm ew. The food: In buffets, it's definitely a hit or miss. I recently went to their breakfast and I thought their hash browns were phenomenal. Cripsy outside texture, perfect crunch. They had some great smoked sausages, good biscuits, gravy and country fried steak. Then we transition to good scrambled eggs, alright french toasts. Then you have some of their microwavable soggy waffles, burned brownies, and a poor excuse of their bread pudding. So again, choose wisely in your food folks. So meh, I feel ok with Hometown Buffet. But you wouldn't catch me going here by choice.

Used to be good, But we wondered why no one was in the restaurant. The food was the issue. Cold, dry and just bad. Both me and my wife became ill from the food.

So i decided to give this place a shot i was not impressed as soon as i walked through the door for a home style cooking buffet it should smell like grandmas kitchen, instead it smells like a dirty rag wet clothes and a mens room. The food was very bad oily, greasy, just awful and they charge $15 a person for a limited selection menu. The cups plates and silverware all seemed dirty. I post alot of reviews throughout the country on yelp trust me people this is a no go my stomach already hurts. Just go eat somewhere else.

Love it here. Good food and a great value. Good salads, proteins, sides and Desserts. Used coupons to save even more.

To be completely honest I only come here because it's the only buffet I know of, (since I just recently moved to the area and the closest Golden Corral is in Pines.) It's alright, kinda pricey, especially since they always have the same foods. I went in today for dinner with my Dad and the "Manager Ambassador" was screaming across the restaurant for a pen... ridiculous? Other than that the staff is VERY nice, it could be a little cleaner, but then again it's a buffet. A solid 3 stars.

This place was dirty. I went though many plates on the buffet until I got a clean one. I shower them to two of the servers and they acted like they could care less. I ate very little and left. The dirty plates and them not caring tells me it was also dirty in the kitchen. $13 and got grossed out. They passed by with coupons for next visit. I left them, I will not return.

Typically, I'm not a fan of buffets, because I feel obligated to eat more to get my "money's worth." The food was downright decent and had a nice variety. Most of the meals did have a home-made feeling, like steak and meatloaf. It really depends what you expect from a buffet. I could see myself going back.

My family and I went there for the first time about a week ago for breakfast. The service and food is amazing!! The only thing I found was that some of the mugs were not clean, and the milk machine was not working. Also, my younger son and I were waiting infront of the lady who makes the omelets and she ignored us, and so we walked away without getting one. Other than that, we met Bonnie who was super nice and kind. She took time out of her day to make sure that we were comfortable. She told us all about how we can bring the kids on Thursdays for popcorn, a movie and explained that they eat for only $1.99!!! I loved the fact that she was very informative and knowledgeable. There needs to be more employees like her in this business!

Outstanding food!! Everything was very delicious and seasoned well. I felt like I was really eating at home. If you're on a budget or just feel like taking a break from cooking at home, this is the place to eat. The selection was a little slim compared to other buffets I've been to but they have enough of a variety to where you'll get a plate or two and be satisfied along with deserts. MMM MMM GOOD! Hahahaha

The food is a little on the greasy side. There is not a lot of selection when it comes to breads (no wheat or rye). I have eaten breakfast and lunch there and the selection was ok. The cleanup help could be improved by getting people to the tables faster.

I enjoy visiting this location from time to time. There are several standouts on the menu. The fried chicken is delicious! I enjoy the salad bar and some of the soups are amazing. Try the corn chowder or the broccoli cheddar with some of their warm yeast rolls on the side! Of course the desserts are decadent and most are worth the calories. I particularly like the bread pudding and the cobblers.

For $11 and change with water for a lunch, I expected more. The food was edible and I didn't get sick is the reason I gave it 2 stars, but for the cost and what is offered there are way too many other places to go. My chance of returning is very slight.

Really enjoy this place. The staff go out of their way to make it a good experience...just gets boring for dinner after a few trips. Need to update with some new stuff. the good stuff like pulled pork is only available in little "dishes". Good taco meats would be a BIG upgrade..current one is really blah.. overall a great bargain, especially breakfast

This place is filled with piles of oily, greasy, fatty, unhealthy foods, combined with questionable cleanliness of the staffs, tableware, and establishment... seriously, who the hell would keep coming back to this place? I do! There is a dirty little gluttony in me and it seems to like this place when the moon is full.

This buffet certainly isn't the nicest one ive ever been to. But in the interest of giving a fair review, I'll say you get what you pay for. The place is very homely but it is like a Chinese Buffett that serves American food. The food is cheap and inexpensive but not healthy. Won't be coming back.

Dined here on Sunday 03/18/12 at around 1:30 p.m. As expected, there was a nice collection of families dining after church. It peaked at around 2:00 and there were actually folks waiting to be seated. The good thing about this is that you know the food is being freshly cooked. In terms of selection of foods, I wasn't impressed. There was a variety, I just didn't find it all appealing. The menu included roast beef, turkey, fish, mandarin orange chicken (baked and fried), steak, roast beef, make your own tacos, pizza, string beans, black eye peas, string beans, french fries, mashed potatoes, corn sweet potato souflee, spinach souflee, cornbread, dinner rolls, salad bar, multiple drinks, Icee machine, etc. The quality of the food? I think the obvious weakness is that when food is mass produced for assembly line consumption (i.e. buffets) you run the risk of sacrificing flavor and quality. I found the cooked food to be a little heavy on the sodium, for my taste. I did like the salad bar, but don't go there looking for a Sweet Tomatoes experience......it's not the same. The price for Sunday was $10 and some change. That's really not bad for the selection and all you can eat. It's kid friendy too. So, if your taste buds are discriminating, you will be disappointed at HomeTown Buffett. But if you want a relatively cheap, variety of American faire, this is your place, (i.e. eating on a budget and want to leave full)!

Glorified prison food, or maybe more like everyone brought one left over from their fridge to the hometown potluck picnic. The only thing I found close to edible was the salad.... yep, salad. I was lucky enough to find a couple of taco shells that I didn't witness people fondling with their bare hands, only to find out that the shells were only big enough to hold a spoonful of the oily, tasteless meat. Tried to dress it up with salsa if it could fit, but the whole thing tasted like the bottom of a drip pan. how did i get talked into this? you could say im taking one for the team for my pregnant wife. I did my best to choke down a few bites of what would seem to be the driest chicken leg possible, it was all I had to keep myself from swirling the leg in my over carbonated glass of sprite just to get it down. I tried the shrimp and wondered how it was legal to serve something so small. I moved to the new "Mongolian stir fry" section only to find an attendant and hostess making fun of how easy it was to pick up the nasty dry ball of noodles up with one tong #Barf. "C'mon honey, were getting the hell outta here"

Really nice atmosphere I thought. The food LOOKS wonderful. But, taste-wise it's lacking. The low price somewhat makes up for the food quality. If you're looking for a budget, decent meal better than fast food, this will do. FAR FAR better than Golden Corral just the same.

hometownbuffet.com Try the dinner on a Thursday or Saturday and you wont be disappointed ! We are talking steak, prime rib, ribs, ham and turkey. Drinks also included at lunch & dinner prices that range from $7.99 - $11.99. Nice array of foods but not huge, nice atmosphere. It is a "hometown" kind of place, being both very comfortable and casual.

I went here with a large group of kids, but still managed to have an OK visit. The staff are definitely kid friendly. However, the selections here are not the best. The most appetizing choices were their fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans and butter rolls. The pizza didn't even look good enough to pick up, but the kids ate it up. There was a frozen slushie that the kids loved. it looked good, however I am not a fan of them. The desserts did not taste like the name assigned to them like peach cobbler and tres leche cake. Very disappointed about those two since they are my favorite desserts. All in all it's an OK place with the typical buffet selections, just nothing amazing to me. A 2nd visit is highly unlikely for me.

Hometown Buffet is an excellent choice for budget conscience people who would like a large choice of food at reasonable price. I noticed a few of the reviews were negative and accused Hometown Buffet of lower quality or fatty foods. Well folks this is a budget restaurant . If you want high end then go to Don Schulas or Capital Grille and spend a $100 a person and shut up already. If you want a good wholesome American meal and lots of food at under 12 bucks and even a senior discounts and free meals for kids then you cant beat Hometown Buffet .
