Road warrior. I get to eat at 'Mexican' restaurants from all over the South. I was a bit disappointed at this one. The heat and spice levels were way too low. The service, however, was speedy and friendly.

Food is delicious, facilities could use some work.

Had the hot and spicy burrito for lunch. Good choice, meat was moist and tender with the sauce just perfect. Friend had carne asada which was excellent. Good choice for lunch.

Not very flavorful, but I guess it is alright if you are in a pinch, feening for some Mex. No horchata (ugh). Salsa and guacamole was good.

Hope you like drinking because you'll probably need it to help get the food down. I've been twice now (and I only gave them a second try because I was meeting someone). The first time I ordered the fajita and it tasted more like BBQ than a fajita, YUCK! The second time I tried the pork carnitas and over half of what they gooped onto the plate was a big wad of fat. I have no intentions of going back. Unfortunately, the best mexican food in the area you have to drive to Milton for....

From the road this place looks ok, but up close it looks like a shithole and I do not use those words lightly. However, the actual food was great! I didn't care for the salsa too much and the guac was in such as small container for the price. So not good value on the guac. I had the shrimp enchiladas and they were marvelous. My sister had the enchiladas verdes, which I tasted, and they were really good too! I definitely recommend this place for mexican food. **The only caveat is that you probably need a lot of time to go here. My sister and I had nothing but time so we were fine with hanging out for a long time. However, while we sat outside a party of three came and ordered large margaritas. It took them a long time to get them their drinks and then the waiter never came back to get their order. The party eventually left. That made me really sad to watch. The least they could have done was gone into the restaurant and let the staff know that they were ready to order. It's not like it would have been inconvenient since they had to walk past the entrance to leave. But I also understood because they were out there for a really long time without service.

If you are looking to be able to talk to your dinner partner, don't come on karaoke night. Old people "singing" old songs. Nothing relaxing about it.

Never thought there was a way to screw up fajitas till now! This was our first and last one ordering from La Crapa. I did order fajitas to go but seriously they were bad. They put the beans, rice, lettuce, tomato, sour cream and quacamole in one bowl and of course the lettuce was limp, the guacamole was gross and it was nasty. Now for the meat of the entree. I ordered chicken fajitas and it tasted like a BBQ chicken strips with some peppers and onions. It was a sweet BBQ flavor and had no hint of anything Mexican. It was soupy and could almost pass for a BBQ chicken soup. Just not good. This was my first and last time ever ordering from there. I just moved to Crestview too.

Excellent quality of food and flavor. Accommodating to specific requests. Great waiter service. Would be a 5 star if the prices were less and the food was served faster. There were only a few tables being served and it took over 20 min for food.

I want to give 2.5 stars, but feel giving 3 would be too generous for the lack of courtesy by our waitress. The food here is good, when it is actually served hot. Four of us dined, and only two of us received our food, after about 5 minutes, the rest came out.. at room temperature, and not how we ordered it. I don't mind waiting the extra time for food as long as it is fresh and made properly. When the room temperature meat was brought to our waitress' attention, her response was defensive as if we were accusing her of letting our food sit, I just wanted her to be aware. Please don't ask how the food is if you genuinely don't care. Also, we ordered a beverage (agua fresca) that is on the menu, and she looked at us like we were stupid and brushed our request off. It seems like this restaurant has a high turnover rate filled by people who don't care about their customers. Had we not been a crowd who have all worked for tips, she would not have gotten a 15% tip. They aren't there to serve you, you're there to give them money, even when they're looking around, distracted, instead of writing your order down.

Came here with my mom and my two kids. I ordered the chicken chimichanga, mom has spinach Quesadilla, kids had pizza and chicken tenders. Food was excellent. We also has two for one margaritas on the rocks. They were super good. Had a buzz off of one. Prices were so decent. I would recommend anyone to try it out. :)

Went in on Sunday after seeing the advertisement for Sunday Funday = 1.50 beers and 15% off meal. After arriving we were informed by our server that the advertisement is wrong about the beer and that management will not change the ad. They would not honor the ad so we didn't get any beer. We ended up staying to eat. Service was slow but we were fine with that. One of our group was told the shrimp was fresh for the fajitas and it clearly was not. We ordered a cup of cheese dip that did not come out for quite some time. When asking another server about it we were told that the cheese dip was out for the night. About 15 minutes later we received our cheese dip, but without chips. After dinner was complete and the bills came the 15% was not taken off. Management took it off and we were notified by our server that it is only offered at lunch despite the ad. Needless to say we will not be going back. No matter how good the food is, the false advertisement and unwillingness to honor it turned us off for good. We won't be back.

Went there for lunch and the portions were excellent, we all had to get to go boxes. The chips and salsa were good as well as the meals. I saw a few comments that said the place wasnt that good but we decided to go anyway. I dont know if I liked this place as much as I was just thinking as I was eating that it was not as bad as the other reviews said it was. My family felt that after we left that we made the correct decision. We like this place.

My wife and I recently had dinner here, as sort of a date night if you will. First impressions were really good. The inside was bright and inviting, and the wait staff was immediately welcoming. This however was the high point of the evening. Things began to decline once we were seated, as the booths were cracked and were in desperate need of retirement/recovering. We ordered shortly after glancing the menu, I selecting their Enchilada Supreme and my wife the Taco Salad (on special at the time). Pricing was fair, especially given the quality of the food. The portion size was far smaller than a typical Mexican restaurant serves. This wouldn't be a problem, and could have been a good thing, if the food was good. The food was bland all around. The Enchiladas Supreme (4 enchiladas one of each type: cheese, chicken, bean, and beef) were served with sauce, sour cream, lettuce and tomatoes top. The lettuce tasted like it was bagged, and pulled from the freezer that morning. The chicken was alright at best, beef was bland, beans were watery and flavorless, and the cheese was at least melted at one point and had trace amounts of flavor. Overall, a poor dish and certainly not worthy to be called supreme. The Taco Salad my wife had suffered many of the same flaws: unfresh lettuce, bland meat, and unbalanced meat to veggie ratio per portions size. The consistency of the ground beef was more obvious in her dish over mine though. It was course and dry, like unseasoned and leftover Taco Bell meat. Yes, Taco Bell. Back to the service though. During the course of our meal, I observed several disturbing and troubling actions. The biggest problem I watched was one waitress braiding another waitresses hair. This was happening at a table where guests could be served and while two other tables needed cleaned. The bartender spent most of the time on his phone, and milling about from one side of the dining room to the other. I will admit, they weren't overly busy at the time, however it bothers me to see dirty tables and empty drinks and employees goofing off not doing their jobs. Final Scores: Food - 2/10 Service - 4/10 Appearance - 6/10 Bottom Line: If you're looking for cheap and low quality Mexican food, stick to Taco Bell. Go here if you want lower quality with a nicer environment.

My boyfriend and I just moved to Crestview and we tried this out for the first time tonight and it was great! The food (and margaritas) was delicious and we are from California, where Mexican food is a staple, we both cleared our plates. The service was also great, our waitress was very friendly and provided us with great service!

The food tasted like Mexican food that my high school cafeteria would make. Edible but bland...not nearly enough flavor or spice at all. Service and ambience were OK. I will not eat there again.

I don't know why we keep going to this restaurant, I quest it's the 2 for 1 margaritas on the weekends, which are not that great. Their food is mediocre as well. The enchiladas are terrible and the fajitas don't even taste like Mexican food. The one good thing I can say about their food is that their queso blanco is pretty good. The servers are less than par. The last lady we had had to be on some sort of drugs because she was very unattentive and spacy. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone in the area. If you want good Mexican food along with great service, go to Pepito's in Niceville.

This place was not good. When we walked in the atmosphere looked promising for the authentic Mexican food we've been searching for since moving to Florida but by the end of our visit we were saying never again. First two people in our part ordered margaritas imagine our disappointment when we received a fly in one. We promptly told our waitress who took it away and came back with another telling us that the manager was currently making a fresh batch. Well that's great but the new one she brought us was obviously still from the fly batch. We got our food and this time there was hair underneath the beans on one of our plates. We told our waitress again who offered to bring us a new plate but why would we want anything else? I would have given more stars but the whole time the manager on duty never once came over to address the situation or apologize. So no I would not recommend this place or return.

My husband and I ate here after lunch during a weekday. Our waiter was great and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend La Rumba over Azteca, the other mexican restaurant further in Crestview. Honestly not sure why La Rumba is rated below Azteca.

Agree with Michelle N. We had to wait forever for our food and it came to us barely warm. To be fair, I think the weekend management is to blame. Still, I won't be going back for a while. Regardless, Cold mexifood is bad mexifood!

La Rumba does not deserve the negative reviews written here. I visited in November 2013 while on a road trip. It was recommend by the front desk clerk at our hotel. I found the service excellent, the beer cold and the food tasty. What else can you expect? The restaurant is clean and nicely appointed; the staff is very friendly, courteous, and professional. Jennifer, our waitress was excellent. The beer was cold and served in a cold frosted mug. That's what I'm talking about. Give La Rumba at try. I bet you will be glad you did.

We went here expecting great things, especially since it is just around the corner from home. The food and beverages were great. Chorizo dip was especially delicious. The service, however, was awful. As a former service industry worker, I saw that our waitress was swamped, but even still she completely forgot about us after taking our order and never came back. Not once. We didn't get our appetizer until with the main meal, and then had to chase down a different waitress to bring our check. The upside is that they comped our chorizo dip and gave us a coupon for 25% off or our next visit. We haven't gone back yet, but I am willing to give it another chance. The food is good and the other waiters were sympathetic to our lack of service.

I wanted something Mexican between quick and fine dining and close to the Interstate. La Rumba caught my eye. Came in and it was exactly what it was expecting: well-priced food, quick service, and most of all, white queso dip! I came in on a Sunday, so the entire menu was 15% off. The margaritas tasted a bit premade out of the box, but they were strong and 2-for-1. I couldn't even finish the second one since I was driving! This is a great choice for accessible and affordable Mexican food, especially if you're on the road.

Quality food, decent service, fair pricing & most importantly open later than all the other sit-down restaurants on a weekday in Crestview. I had the combo 26, bean burrito, cheese enchilada, tostada, nacho cheese. It was better than average.

Only doing a review because it was that bad...Taco Bell has better food, and that should be an insult....I got a beef quesadilla and my wife got a soft taco, and everything was bad. The one star they get is because the waiter was friendly and the sweet tea was good. Oh -- and they ran out of high chairs, and the place wasn't even half full......save your time and money and go to Taco Bell, or better yet, make the drive to Niceville and go to Pepitos if you want real Mexican food.

Being from Ca and AZ we know good Mexican food when we eat it. This was very good and the service was impeccable. Alberto was personable and got it right. Very attentive. Good a atmosphere and nice decor. Room to park a motorhome.

The best Mexican restaurant in the area. Their professional and friendly staff make you want to visit again and again. They always have some kind of money-saving special going on. Great place to take your family.

I love having a Mexican restaurant right up the road. It makes getting my favorite dish - Carnitas - that much easier! While La Rumba's version isn't always as flavorful or juicy as I'd like, it is the only place that I know locally I can order the dish at all. One thing La Rumba USUALLY does well is the chips and salsa (although the last time I went there, in mid-May, the salsa was soupy and bland ...). The "first impression" of any Mexican Restaurant, I find this appetizer/snack very important to the overall mood of my meal. My friends and I held our book club meeting at La Rumba (the mid-may trip), and all of us ordered Margaritas - all of which were perfectly delicious! We had a great time laughing and giggling our way through the book discussion and the meal. My daughter, nieces, and nephew all love the rice, beans, and tacos. They can all put away an adult-size serving at La Rumba, and always come away happy. I too am rather fond of the rice, although the beans seem to leave something to be desired. *shrugs* I'd be happy with delicious carnitas and rice, honestly! Oh, and yes ... the sweet tea is usually quite good!

If I could give this place half a star, I would. Is this really what passes for Mexican food around here? The chips and salsa were just OK. Nothing to get excited about, and the salsa was pretty runny. I ordered a Chili Relleno. Big mistake. I got a bland pepper stuffed with some nasty, runny cheese. Of course the whole thing is breaded and deep fried, then served....DRY??? Where is the green or red chili sauce, people? It was disgusting. The rest of the family felt pretty much the same way about their meals. Hubby had the spicy burrito. Not spicy at all, and just not good, according to him. Oh, and everything is ground beef based. If you order a taco, you are getting ground beef. What appears to be unseasoned ground beef, to boot. Yuck. And do not be fooled by their BOGO margaritas. The margaritas are watery and generally not good. Two margaritas have about a quarter of the liquor you should be getting in a margarita. Bad margaritas should be a crime! Total disappointment, will not even try it again.

Stopped on a road trip. The meal I wanted was not on the menu but they were happy to make it no questions asked! Cheese dip was excellent and it was nice to see the kids menu had non-Hispanic food as well!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
