I have had the buffet twice. There was a nice variety. The decor is tasteful. The staff pleasant. The owners are polite to customers but rude to their staff and keep the credit card tips. Pay your waitress in cash! The price is a little high for lunch but they are the only Indian cuisine in the county so I pay up. I haven't had dinner here yet.

My experiences with Indian restaurants is limited so I can't speak to the authenticity of the food but I can say that it was delicious! They offer options on the level of hot spice you would like in your dish. There was a large variety of items on their menu and the portions were huge. The waiter was very friendly and service was good. The atmosphere was nice and they played Indian music. The restaurant and the bathrooms were impressively clean the evening of my visit. I will be sure to return to try out their lunch buffet.

My previous visit was a sit down meal. This updated review is based on a take out experience. I just want to say how pleased i was with my take out order from Taj Brooksville/Spring Hill. My wife called in the order and it was done when i arrived. Everything in the order was correct and i was in and out of the restaurant in no time. The Chana Masala was delicious as was the Saag Paneer. The garlic Naan was not like it is in the restaurant and became a bit chewy on the ride back. The rice was so good you could have just ate that. It was fragrant with saffron. Delectable! The entrees were far less oily as well which added to their attractiveness. I don't know how the service is in the restaurant. It appeared that there was only one girl serving and she seemed a bit haggard. There was a help wanted sign on the front window. I think i will be going take out from here from now on.

I know nothing about Indian cuisine but the authentic food they cook in this restaurant is out of this world! The dishes are so unique and so delicious you'll want to come back. The portion sizes are just right. The spices are used in such a proper way that they even don't keep salt and pepper on tables! You won't need that. The things they make with simple dried beans, lentils, potatoes and proper combination of spices are unbelievable. My favs were naan breads, choose any - it will be great, guaranteed. And dishes with home made cheese. Little missteps: overcooked tempura, it was a bit dry, especially shrimp. And I was not thrilled with dessert - lack of promised rose water flavor. But that could happen because I had very hot and spicy entree. :) Anyway - we are lucky to have this gem in our tiny neighborhood. Highly recommended! I'll be back and definitely will order a take out. Especially naan. ;)

The food was great. One of best and the freshest food I have eaten in a while. The paneer was fresh and the mint chutney was freely made. In all, a very good experience.

This place just opened and I'm pretty sure they are here to stay. I went in during lunch hours, at which time they have an open buffet, and it was delicious. I am not super experienced with Indian cuisine, but from what I have eaten, this place was ranked top. They did mild everything down for the buffet, but it was still delicious. In the evening they serve from a dinner menu that has a much larger variety, as well as a choice of spiciness. According to the menu they also do take out and cater.

I just tried this place and I am now questioning the palate of the residents of this town. The food is bland and questionable. The beef curry and some of the other food tastes like canned raviolis. At least the water tastes good. Decor is nice.

This was our second visit to Taj and we have been very pleased both times. The first time we had lunch buffet. Food was all fresh and very good with a adequate variety. I love their menu-plenty of vegetarian options. Flavor was absolutely perfect. I do wish the nan was a little thicker, but it was still acceptable. Service both times was attentive without being intrusive. Am looking forward to many more meals in this restaurant!

I've travel the globe twice and Indian food is my favorite. Tonight was not my favorite.it was good, but far from great. In defense of the restaurant I was not able to order the dishes with the amount of heat that I like due too that I was with two newbies and didn't want to scare them from Indian on their first experience with Indian food. So next time down will have to give them another try, but still from what we had it was not flavorful. The rice was perfect the appetizer was good. Go try it it was not bad just far from great.

Premium food, very good. My wife and I are very happy Taj opened up in Spring Hill. Go and check it out, if you enjoy different cultures foods then you will enjoy Taj Palace.

Go now. Go to this restaurant now... and in a year, you'll be able to brag to your friends that you found this restaurant. By then, the waitstaff will become more experienced, the food more predictable. The original Taj is in Tampa near USF/ University Mall. This second location was inspired by the need of an Indian restaurant in the Spring Hill area. Several Spring Hill Indians drove to the original Taj on a weekly basis. The wait staff is new. The timing is off. But the food is amazing. The staff shares their love of Indian food with neophytes. Try the buffet if you don't know Indian food. (buffet is at lunch time.) I was able to sample a variety of wonderful foods. Food on the buffet is mildly seasoned. The dinner menu is an amazing variety (when's the last time you saw goat on a menu). The dinner items are more expensive than the buffet. -- I ordered a meal with several different dishes. I adore the honey soaked dessert. and the fruit in yogurt. Try this. You'll learn a lot from a meal.

Looking for an authentic Indian restaurant? Well, look no farther than right here in Spring Hill. No more would you have to travel all the way to Tampa for delicious Indian food! This restaurant is very clean, the prices is great, the service is warm and welcoming and the food is delicious. A must try if you're a fan of Indian food or if you're looking to try something new. You will not regret it!

Loved it. My wife and I were in town golfing and drove by. Just opened yesterday. Delicious. They had a buffet and everything was great. Saag, butter chicken, tandoori chicken. Yummy desserts were included: rice pudding and mango custard.

FINALLY, a pretty damn good Indian restaurant in Brooksville! Yaay! I turned my folks onto Indian food years ago (in Scottsdale, AZ circa 1999), and they've been huge fans every since. But every visit I took to visit them in Homosassa required a lengthy drive to Ocala (or Tampa) to enjoy some butter chicken, vindaloo, aloo saag, garlic naan, and some Kingfishers! ;-) So when my Dad told me that his cardiologist mentioned that a new Indian restaurant just opened up, we planned a trip to Taj. And on July 25th, my father and I enjoyed a very pleasant dinner of butter chicken (dad), chicken vindaloo (me), aloo saag (shared), and some garlic naan. My dad had a Kingfisher beer, and I had a Hayward's 5000 malt beverage. A very nice restaurant decor, and very clean. Great service, and some overall delicious food. My vindaloo could have been MUCH hotter (I asked for a 7 or a scale of 10 in "hotness"), but it came out a 4. Very pleased, and look forward to future visits in the years to come (and not having to drive hours to get to an Indian restaurant from Homosassa!)

My first visit to the restaurant was for a quick lunch on my own. My first impression upon walking in was incredibly positive, as it has a lovely ambience and the hostess was very courteous. The lunch features a small buffet of Indian dishes and, having had very little exposure to Indian cuisine in the past, I wanted to try a a few items and see how I felt. I was more than satisfied with the food, though I was hoping for a spicier selection. The butter chicken was a highlight, and the mango custard offered for dessert was delicious. Buffet options were somewhat limited compared to most establishments but, having glanced at their dinner menu, I can see that lunch, while pleasant, was not the time to come in. I can say with confidence that I will certainly return here for dinner and have a proper meal. It's a great little restaurant with a gracious staff and fine food. As the only Indian restaurant in Brooksville that I know of, it's nice to find that it's worth the visit.

GREAT food.....BUT I would highly recommend hand sanatizer near the buffet AND waitress using something other than Windex to clean tables....PLEASE use disinfectant....I have seen and heard many customers make these suggestions over the last year and a half but nothing has been done about it.

I love going to the Taj...I really wish people would break away from the chain restaurants and open up to more mom and pop venues..Carrabbas and Texas road house are packed and the Taj sits mostly empty but the food has tons more flavor and character.

My first time trying Indian food so I don't have much of a comparison... But for my first time, I'm happy it was here. This food was incredible!!! So glad I came for the lunch buffet to try a little of everything. The mango pudding is a MUST try... You won't regret it!

Best Indian resto in 50 miles radius . We drive 35 min to get there and make it a point to go once a month . It's delicious. Very fragrant and perfect texture. They take their time. Well decorated. Lamb Korma is our favorite ! Must try .

Let me start out by saying that Indian cuisine is by far my favourite in the world, and this restaurant was my first adventure into the world of Indian food. After visiting other Indian restaurants in other parts of the US and abroad, I have to say this place is exactly what you'd expect from Spring Hill: unfortunately average. Yes, most of the food is relatively fresh and the naan is good, but the prices are far too high for what you're getting, especially since Spring Hill is not in a major upscale city. Wake up Taj, a lassi should cost $2, not close to $4. One piece of naan is not worth $5. The prices for the Lassis and Naan are easily twice to three times what they should be, especially given the small size of the lassis and the small serving of naan. In fact, last time I went to Taj my naan bread was burned on the bottom... Perhaps a result of my waitress taking my appetiser, main course, dessert, and drink orders all at once. The staff is polite, but they'll likely only visit your table to take orders and then to bring you the bill. If you're new to Indian cuisine, this isn't a bad place to start. If you're an indian food aficionado, you won't be disappointed by anything but the prices. In addition, the tables are wiped down with windex and not sprayed with disinfectant. This is something that NEEDS to be addressed or the health department should look into. This updated review includes mostly my criticisms of the restaurant, however all of the positive remarks in my prior review are still true. My main reason for the reduction to three stars are the exuberant prices, use of windex in place of disinfectant, and occasional issues with naan being overcooked.

Was looking forward to something new, tried a little of everything at the buffet but found nothing appealing. Just not my taste.

I love Indian food, my husband not so much but he loves it here! The buffet is excellent with a large variety and is very reasonably priced. The service is impeccable and Indian music completes the ambiance. I definitely recommend everyone to eat here!!!

-FRIENDLY ADVICE FROM A FORMER SERVER AT TAJ-. Apart from wage disagreements with the owners and several disagreements over their standards of service, I had SEVERAL SERIOUS HEALTH CONCERNS while serving at Taj for a six month period. At Taj, I was paid $
