Why 4 stars? Because it was good food and great service. --- --- --- Jeffrey is the man! He was EXTREMELY attentive and courteous throughout the dining experience. I usually order Crab Rangoon as an appetizer when enjoying a sushi dinner, but Jeffrey told me that it was only a seasonal item. He told me he had an alternative that I would like and brought out Chicken Tatsu-age. It tasted and looked like something you'd find at Outback before a Japanese restaurant, but it was really really tasty and addicting. My friend got lost on the way to meet me for dinner, so I ended up eating all of it before he arrived! My order was: Spider Roll: 3/5 - Solid, standard roll. Shrimp Tempura Roll: 3.5/5 (Yeah, that's right. Decimal ratings) - Above average. Sumo Roll: 3.5/5 - Kind of flavor-less, honestly. Waikiki Roll: 4/5 - The Main Event. Definitely tasty and unique. At that point, I was finished. However, good ole' Jeffrey convinced us that our experience would not be complete without a Tempura Cheese Cake. I wasn't sure about it, but I was THOROUGHLY pleased in the end. Jesus, Mary and the assorted Shepherds....that...was...some SERIOUS dessert. It was ice cream, fried cheesecake and whip cream. 12/5 rating. I would rate the sushi 3rd in the Bay Area, after Samurai Blue and Soho Sushi...but the service was top notch and the dessert was one of the best I've ever had.

Pop music on the poor quality, tinny sound system. Hibachi was good but it's cooked in the back. Sushi was better. Decent food but without good atmosphere a place can't be fun. That's my $0.02

Searching reviews for the best location for hibachi in the Bay area and stumbled upon Tsunami. Made reservations for 3 and we drove in from Tampa. Made reservations for 8pm. Arrived at 7:40 and by 9:00 we were still not seated. Asked 3 times about our table and hostess stated "You're coming up next. You have a few ahead of you." Area to wait was crammed, in front of the door way and bathrooms. Spoke to the manager, Britney, and she stated that a Christmas party was hanging around longer than they anticipated. Needless to say we did get a gift card in hopes we would we come back. Enjoyed a good dinner next door at TGIFridays.

Great place and definitely high quality! I've tried just about everything off their menu and love it! Come on holiday's and they will most likely be running some type of special. Wednesday's are perfect if you are also looking for Sashimi because they are $1 a piece. Will come back again.

Went to try this new sushi place after a friend told me about it. It was very nice inside and empty so we were able to sit right away. We had four people at the table which 3 of us ordered sushi and 1 ordered hibachi. The hibachi came out very quickly and looked delicious. When the sushi came out we were missing two rolls! When we told the waitress she asked if we still wanted it. It then took about 30 minutes to get the missing rolls. There was no apology at all. The sushi was delicious but the service was not as great.

After a couple of visits, I think I can safely say this is a consistently good sushi spot. There is nothing spectacular about the sushi, but the price has my coming in as a regular now. The hibachi is good, the BBQ squid is delicious, and add mentioned before, all the sushi I've tried has been good. The service every time I've visited had been stellar. The dining area is nice and neat; it's a very comfortable atmosphere. This place is casual, but romantic enough for a date night, and even good for a family outing. They are not reinventing sushi here. Everything is pretty standard, with a few unique Tsunami twists here and there. I'm giving 4 stars because it's a well run restaurant, with good food and service, and great prices. I haven't had a bad experience yet, and I can't think of anything to complain about.

I went here once before about five years ago. I was less than impressed then, but I decided to give it another chance. From the outset, the hostess was absent for quite a while and then took quite a bit to seat us. The restaurant wasn't busy, so I am not sure what the deal was. However, that is really the only negative part of dining. The wait staff was there when needed, and not when not, as it should be. The miso soup was a bit on the bland side, but still good. We had the Pumpkin Pumpkin, Sesame Tuna, Sumo, and Tiger roll. They were all quite good. The cost was a bit, but just a bit, lower than average for the quality. So, my opinion of Tsunami has changed from my previous visit so long ago. Overall, I would go back in the future, and I would recommend dining in if you are wanting to try a new sushi joint.

Inventive and well-crafted sushi rolls in a cozy little atmosphere to enjoy them in. I've tried quite a few maki here but the Hurricane Roll stands out among them. Saki and fried ice cream were highly satisfying. The specials are worth taking advantage of, but these magnitude 9.0 rolls are worth the price either way.

Being a fan of sushi and sashimi, this place was in a word, underwhelming. The place was nice and can't complain about the service, but overpriced to say the least. If you're going to charge $13 for the hell rolls then please bring out more than 8 pieces. The rolls themselves were not bad but when ordering something like the Philadelphia rolls, it looked like the chefs made it for a children's portion. We went on their ladies night special and the special turned out to be a dollar per roll on certain nigiri and sashimi rolls that were also tiny pieces. The green iced tea was good and nice that it was unlimited refills. So to cap it off, if your starving and have not eaten, I recommend eating something little first unless you wanna spend $50 easily and still end up hungry. I would try out other sushi places first.

Stopped in for a quick and early lunch. No hostess present just sat at sushi bar, server was fast drink came fast and order was placed. Ordered two sushi rolls of course my favorite anywhere I go the volcano and another roll called firecracker or something of that sort. This place was empty and it was probably because it was 11:15am when I stopped in to eat. The place is decent for an early lunch ambience, not to loud so I could take business calls throughout. They don't offer wifi which is huge anywhere I go, if they did no one said anything about it when I was there to eat. Sushi was great and service was too. I will be back again and I recommend you visit.

Very good soups and sushi, always fresh. Friendly staff. I like to go there with my husband for sushi (volcano is our favorite) in a calm setting.

I've been here a few times just for sushi but tonight I tried their tofu hibachi and I am in love. The food was seasoned to perfection. I've never had tofu this good in my life. I am very impressed with this meal. It did not take long for the food to come out when I ordered either. I HIGHLY recommend this spot to anyone who loves Japanese cuisine (or try it for the first time).

I had a pretty good experience overall. The service was very friendly and fast. The sushi was very tasty. We had the Hell roll, spicy tuna and another roll I can't remember the name of that was equally good. The Hell roll is always my favorite here as I really like spicy food, but don't take my word for it. Try it out.

Sushi was amazing. Sashimi roll was insanely good. Definitely worth it. Dragon roll was also great. My waitress wasn't amazing but I've only been once so maybe it was just her since the other waiters seemed really friendly and were checking on their tables more often. Oh and their soup (not the miso) was great. Lots of flavor but if you don't like onions then it's not for you.

Love this place! I've had my birthday party here 4 years in a row, I have had pretty much the entire menu. But my favorite 3 are the double J, the tiger roll, and the hurricane roll, (in that order)

Love the sushi here!! Lunch specials are an amazing deal. 4.25 per roll! Also Wed is ladies night so their sushiami and nigiri sushi is 1$ per piece. Fresh fish and great staff :)

Best place I've found in not only brandon but in Tampa for sushi. This place has a modern cool feeling to it, the food is great, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Even as I write this I'm hesitating because it's like telling you all about my secret little find lol. Just don't steal my seat! :)

Been frequenting this little gem since 2007. Tsunami has fabulous and fresh Sashimi and amazing rolls. My favorite the Japanese Bagel Roll.. Yummy! My now Husband and I had our first date here in Jun 2008 and as we both have been stationed in Japan during our military service, we have yet to find another local sushi place that even compares! We love you guys, keep it up and we'll be there!

All in all this place just seemed a bit weird. Just a bunch of little things that didn't quite fit. First up was the music - soft rock when I arrived (because nothing says sushi like some good Kenny Loggins), which transitioned to club music, and then eventually back to soft rock. Then there was the sign advertising party platters, with a little football and helmet on it. Putting aside the fact that it's June, I don't think I've ever had the boys over for a game and set out sushi. Maybe that's just me. Off-kilterness (if that's a word) aside, the place was pretty good. Not great, but not mediocre. We started with the tataki and the dumplings, which were pretty standard fare. We moved into a bit of sashimi and a bunch of rolls. The rolls were mostly hit or miss, but still nothing that made me want to say, "This is the reason I will come back." Their spicy tuna roll was done up differently than anywhere I had ever seen - normally it's a "mix" of the tuna and hot sauce. This was just a tuna roll with some hot sauce poured over it. I think 3 stars about sums it up. Maybe closer to 2.5, but I'm feeling generous today.

I love the food but the wait is RIDICULOUS! It's nearly impossible to get in and out on my HOUR lunch and I call ahead with my order. It happens ever time I go. What's interesting is the place is almost empty on lunch, yet service is at a CRAWL!! If the sushi wasn't so good I'd give them only 2 stars. I'll be back, just not on my lunch.

My aunt and I use to come here once a week for the sushi lunch. A good variety of sushi rolls from $4-$7. Who doesn't love good sushi at that price? Well now the saying "you get what you pay for" comes into play. The rolls lack flavor and the raw fish always seems to be at room temp, not what I like to bite into when I eat raw sushi.

So, after a long day at a rained out Busch Gardens, my friends and I decided to stop by a local sushi place to redeem the day! The sushi at Tsunami is fresh, beautifully presented, and a bit pricey. Each of their signature rolls is at least $10 and we had ordered their special roll, "Valentine Roll", which was $15.50. The size of the rolls are average and to be quite honest both the rolls we ordered tasted very similar. The service was awkwardly out of place as we had a Caucasian male serving us with a Brooklyn accent and very macho-like attitude. Definitely belonged in a Tony Roma's or something. He was a little annoying and didn't seem to listen very well. Besides that, we all had a good time and would come back if ever in the area again. The atmosphere is average, food was a little above average, and the service...well, I think we were just unlucky although he was attentive. Overall, the waves were choppy but definitely not worthy enough to be categorized as a "tsunami"

Food lacked pizazz. Sushi was underwhelming. We had the hibachi shrimp and a dragon roll. The miso soup was pretty standard, the garden side salad with ginger dressing was plentiful, but I wasn't a fan of the dressing. The food lacked flavor overall. It wasn't our cup of tea. I wouldn't recommend it.

Piss poor service. The quality and the size of the roll was disappointing for a place that specialize in sushi. I tried and will never go back.

My boyfriend and I go here a lot for date nights. The food is always good. I love the Pumpkin Pumpkin Roll, Double J, Tempura Mojo Roll and the hibachi is actually pretty good too. The wait staff is usually pretty knowledgeable about the food so if you need a recommendation, just ask.

This place is my favorite for sushi in this little area. Everything that I have tried there out of the 20+ times I've been in one year alone. This is the only place to find the delicious "Lollypop Roll" which I always have last instead of some crazy dessert. My favorite server was Jeffrey, but unfortunately he went to another endeavor in Texas. The staff are friendly and if you go frequently enough to get to know them all, they probably know what you want as soon as you walk in the door. My fiancée and I love this place and continue to eat here when the craving for sushi comes calling.

One of the better places for good and fresh sushi. This was only my second time here and this time it was for take out. I had ordered Edemame and a few rolls...the Maui, Spicy Tuna, and the Firecracker. All very good and the presentation for take out was seriously great! They had the rolls all nicely packed in one sturdy container. Not like the flimsy styrofoam to go boxes you normally get. It's the little things....ha ha! The next time I order to go, I think I'll actually go inside and look at their menu because they run specials all the time and have rolls that aren't on the menu on line. I already talked to the manager about that. :-) But overall, the staff has always been friendly, including the cute little hostess in the front. I'll definitely be coming here again for sushi!

Whoopsies, apparently the Publix and Tsunami Sushi are not related. My bad. I still enjoy many other places better than this one though, my sister orders takeout from there every once in awhile and it doesn't seem to have changed much since my last visits.

I have been to Tsunami several times and always have a pleasant surprize. The Menu is very large and diverse, so there is always something new to try. If you like really hot things try the Hell Roll - not for the faint of heart. Some of my favorites are the Cloud 9, Tsunami Wave and Hurricane Rolls. We also had a couple of great salmon appetizers. I have been with my wife and also with a large group of about 15 and the staff has always been prompt and attentive. The interior is neat, clean and well decorated. This is everything I want in a sushi bar.

The rolls are pretty decent. Not sure how business was post-Japan tsunami horror. But with the creativity and deliciousness of the rolls here, I am sure the business has not suffered. The rolls we ordered were fresh and the waiter was pretty patient w/ my bestie's baby throwing all his food on the floor! LoL (sorry!) Overall, great restaurant..but probably will not go back as fan-status. SOrry!

I might be a little bias since I know someone who works here but this restaurant is definitely on the top of my favorite sushi list. I loved their unique creations along with your standard favorites. I really wish this place was up north. I loved all of the large size sushi items we tried from the menu and cannot wait to come back and try some more. My favorites from what I tried were the Double J, Volcano, Tsunami Wave and Maui Roll. I also want to try some of their other main dishes. A friend ordered one of the salads, which I stole a bite and it was to die for. I only wish I could remember the name. I would have never had thought to order a salad on my own but now having tried a bite, i realized I have been missing out on some very good salads. Not sure how the wait is here, but it looked reasonably busy on a Thursday night. Just thinking about this place makes me want to buy a plan ticket to go down there just to get lunch.
