Ryuu Japanese Steakhouse Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

We had dinner here on Saturday evening. We were not very impressed with anything about it actually. The decor is nice enough I suppose but I didn't come to look at the decor I came to enjoy a nice dinner with my husband. First I'll start with the good things. My husband ordered a spicy tuna hand roll, which was indeed spicy and he enjoyed it, we noted it was somewhat larger than typical but we aren't complaining. He also had the special sashimi roll about which he said he didn't care for the white sauce otherwise it was fine. He also ordered a selection of nigiri which he said was good but we noted that it while it was cut the correct direction it was cut somewhat larger and thicker than traditionally, again not complaining because the fish was of good quality and he did enjoy it. Then there was my meal. I ordered a drink called the Blue Hawaiian, please don't ever do this it was a huge mistake. I expected something fruity and light and instead got something huge, overly sweet, frothy and containing some sort of creamy liquid I suspect to have been coconut milk but the overpowering flavor of artificial coconut was so overwhelming I was just grossed out by it. The service was pretty much poor. We sat at the sushi bar and while there were several employees visible in the restaurant chatting and sitting around rolling silverware there were very few working and we were basically ignored most of the time. Our server did occasionally ask if we were alright from across the sushi bar area, not really checking or introducing himself so I couldn't tell you his name. It seemed to escape his notice that I was not enjoying my drink and that most of my dinner was still on my plate. I ordered three rolls the Philadelphia roll, the Mexican roll and the Double J roll. I do not eat raw fish so I always order some kind of veggie roll or a cooked fish roll. The Philadelphia roll was so bland I only ate half of it, I was really disappointed with it. The Mexican roll was better although there was one serious issue with that. The shrimp had clearly not been De-veined before they were cooked. Maybe I am nit picking here but there is just something very unappetizing about looking at a sushi roll with a black dot clearly visible on each piece of shrimp where the sand vein has not been removed from the shrimp, yuck. The Double J roll was the best of the three and I actually ate mostly all of it. It was odd though that they fried the Krab stick. That made it fall apart into a mess on the plate. It tasted the best of the three but it was far from the crispy, tasty veggie and fish rolls I was hoping for. The sauce was good on this one though. In the future we will go ahead and make the drive across town to Mike's Sushi or Yoshi Cafe when we want good sushi. The food was not terrible but the inexperience of the sushi chefs was very obvious to us because we like sushi and eat it regularly. It was however a far cry from the worst we have ever had, at least the sushi chefs were actually Japanese but clearly young and inexperienced.

Let me start off by saying that we were a "high-maintenance" group. We had a vegetarian, and someone with gluten & dairy allergy, we had 2 kids and were celebrating a birthday. They don't have options for gluten free (no gluten free soy sauce) so my guest had plain rice, an undressed salad and no noodles. We felt rushed the moment we sat down. Another guest didn't care for the plum wine and asked to switch it out, well they still charged and then proceeded to argue with us about it for literally 5 minutes, and the never comped the drink. The server had an annoyed attitude the entire time. The chef was boring and his tricks were old. The only thing they have going is the decor.

Food is good, our service was HORRIBLE. Waitress never checked on us once we received our food. Had to ask the hostess for our waitress so we could get our check and we saw the waitress just standing in the back by the kitchen doorway. Hostess ended up bringing us our check, never saw the waitress again. Overall we waited an hour just to get our check and change. Waitress also lacked knowledge of types of sushi and amount in a roll and other basic menu questions. Sat outside where we were greeted by ALL the tables being dirty and in the 1+ hour we were there, they were never cleaned off. The restaurant wasn't busy when we were there so not sure of the lack of service or cleanliness.

My family and I visited this place for my mother's 50th birthday dinner (on a Friday night). What was meant to be a celebratory evening for her turned into a great disappointment. First, we made reservations for 8pm and when our entire party arrived at a quarter till we were told we would be seated right at 8. However, we were not seated until 8:20 due to overbooking. Second, after we were all seated, it was a good while until a server came to take our beverage orders. Apparently the server did not even know our table was theirs. Third, after giving our food orders, we were told we all had to shuffle our seats around for the chef to cook. In a group of 18 people (2 babies included) this was a great inconvenience for us and we expressed such. After we shuffled ourselves around we were then told we did not have to move after all. I give my rating 3 stars. 2 is for the chef. He made up for the disappointing evening with great service, food and showmanship. The other star is for their adjustment of the bill.

Had our second visit to Ryuu for my Dads birthday. Our experience was absolutely superb! Great service and amazing food. We will definitely be back!

This is our "go to" for Sushi in the Brandon area. Really fresh ingredients. No long wait times. We have never tried the hibachi because the sushi is so good. We always get a side of the spicy mayo which honestly would make shoe soles taste amazing. Not a huge drinker but I love their Mojitos.

Had dinner there, with my wife. Ate at the hibachi table along with 2 other parties. Ordered the Tempura Bagel Roll sushi and the Rib-eye dinner. Tempura Bagel Roll Sushi: was alright...wouldn't order it again. Probably try their soft shell crab next time. Rib-eye Dinner: this alone will get you full! They start you off with soup, which has mushroom and wonton noodles. Then they serve you a bowl of their house salad. Some grilled veggies. Then each person got 2 pc. shrimp. Then the fried rice. The Rib-eye steak was grilled to perfection (med-rare). It had a lot of flavor (I didn't even use any sauce for it). At that point, I was getting full, but then came the noodles w/sesame seeds. Couldn't finish it. I was surprised that the other parties poured 'yum yum' sauce all over their fried rice....it was good, but I didn't need it. It takes the flavor away from it. Overall, the food was great! The experience was also great. The cook did his knife tricks and was very interactive with everyone. Will be back for sure!!

I wasnt overly impressed, but it was definitely good. The sushi selection was abundant but nothing really different that would really stand out. But I love the fact that they have two big tv's on each side of the sushi bar....and they let you change the channel...

Not quite like my other favorites but I can say the following: Drink specials - great (2-4-1 Sundays + other specials throughout week) Taste of soup - great Green salad with ginger sauce - satisfactory (sauce has slight mayo taste) Portion of food for hibachi - great Charge for sharing plates - $7 - Silly I've been here twice and will continue to venture over from Channelside.

It's was just alright. For the money I could Of went to somewhere better. Service was okay, food was eh okay. Nothing to rave home about. The decor was nice though. I wouldn't go back, wasn't worth the money!

Can't tell you how much I love hibachi but it could only go well with a great chef. I would recommend asking for chef Rain because he puts on a great show and his food is full of flavor. I always get the scallops and ribeye here and it's always cooked to perfection. For the first time though, I got the salmon and let me tell you it was so delicious that it just melted in my mouth (fish lovers, I recommend getting the salmon)! You get so much food here that you'll never leave hungry!

Not bad Japanese food. Their sushi is decent. I decided to try one of their "Bul Ko Gi" dishes. I'm not quite sure what they were going for with it and why it was at a Japanese steakhouse but the food wasn't bad. Service is great though!

A month ago my wife and I came to this restaurant and had a horrible experience. I do have to say that the food this time was good. Last time the owner of the restaurant left me a message that I never responded cause I am not looking for a response but I do believe that every where you go or do there should always be a second chance. Like last we had the same selection; volcano roll, dragon roll and double j roll. The food was good the waitress was good and the atmosphere was just right. "Please don't fall off and stay consistent cause this is a favorite spot my wife and I go too."

Phenomenal sushi and great service by our bartender/server tonight. We had a party of six at the bar and all of our needs were met. The only problem I had was an extremely rude blonde server who we witnesses giving her manager a hard time about multiple customers' orders. Between verbally assaulting everyone in her general area, she also pushed another bartender while exclaiming to "get out of [her] way!" I would qualify this server as the most rude person I have experienced in 2015. I am a manager of a very large customer service-driven company, and I wouldn't tolerate this person on my staff. In fact, if it were legal to beat an employee half to death, she would have learned a valuable lesson tonight... kudos to the manager for not ripping this brat in half. We felt bad for the manager, as she seemed to be very nice. We may be back, but I'll be piping up if I see this wretch again.

The volcano here is my favorite. A must try. I also always get the sashimi appetizer. So yummy.

This place is good. Would I say it's great or amazing? No. But I'm giving it a 4 star review because it's not bad, the food isn't bad, and the ambiance is pretty decent. I hate how it's located in the mall though. Brandon is now a s***show now so battling traffic and finding parking can be a pain. Go for the experience if anything, but this isn't the place for a more "authentic" experience.

Service by the cook Lucky was good. Portion size was good. Steak was very chewy .. The chicken was rubbery. Noodles were ok.. Initially presented a coupon and and server stated to show it to her later, at the end she said the coupon wasn't valid for kids eat free. She did nothing to fix the inconvenience. Disappointment all around except for the cook.

My husband and I love this place! The staff is extremely attentive and the sushi is amazing!!!!! You have to try the Double J roll., that is our favorite. Everything from the decor, lighting food and staff is on point. Great date place fellas! ;) not overly crowded.

I don't know if it was due to Mobil meals but ordered From Ryuu Japanese Steak House: $10.00 Sashimi Appetizer $4.95 Grilled Eel $1.00 Sashimi (3pcs) $10.75 Volcano Roll $3.50 Salmon Hand Roll and when all arrived, at $41.66 total (delivery and tip) the amount that arrived was less than satisfactory... In fact, the other member of the party had to order out as was very little served for the price... Maybe I am being cheap and petty, but the portion was very small, especially for the price... and the embarrassment of having ordered a meal and having to have them order something else because of lack of food. It was very good... but the price to food ratio was less than satisfactory, and sadly I cannot and will not order from Ryuu through Mobil Meals again... The embarrassment was more than I could care to deal with.

Ordered several pieces of raw nigriri and the volcano roll and had it delivered next door to Brass Tap. Eel is dry as hell and tuna/salmon/whitefish tastes over a week old. I would've been better off going to Publix for sushi. Update: Took half of the sushi back to the manager to show how dry everything was (tuna looked like proccuito). As I was complaining, the sushi chef commented "Well, you don't have to come back." So customer service is obviously a priority for them as well...

I give this restaurant kudos for supporting the local Japanese Club at the University, but I am not impressed with their food or service. I tried this restaurant because I had acquired a $10 gift certificate, but I would not return. The server did her job answering my questions and taking my order, but she could have been a little friendlier--I'm not sure if she likes her job...For my first time at this restaurant, I did not receive a good first impression and I can't even rationalize that it was because the restaurant was busy as there were only 4 other parties present (we were there between lunch and dinner at around 2 or 3pm). In regards to the food, it was "ok." There was too much dressing on the salad and I feel like it was to hide the fact that the lettuce was not fresh (it was a little soft and brown on the edges). There was a mistake with my entree, but it was corrected and the server apologized. The taste of the food wasn't bad, but it was, as another reviewer stated, not authentic. The mixed vegetables and meat tasted like something I would get from a Chinese restaurant. Hoisen sauce was served with my pork katsu instead of Katsu sauce and the tenpura sauce was a bit off as well (a little dark and no dashi). I will say that I did sit in a booth, so eating at the Hibachi during more normal meal hours may provide a different experience.

I walked in with my girlfriend to a beautiful looking bar with gorgeous lightning right around eight after a day of shopping at the mall. We waited a good five minutes at the front before the hostess greeted us which was strange since there were only a few booths and only two hibachi tables just about finishing up. It was a Monday night and not very busy at all. It also wasn't the most pleasant greeting we've ever experienced. We simply asked if there was room for two at a hibachi table. So they added us onto a hibachi that just sat down and the hostess didn't bring us to the table but rather some man who I believed was one of the managers which I didn't mind since his interaction was a little more pleasant. As we walked towards the hibachi room I was impressed by the glass wine room--it encased a touch of modern. We entered the hibachi room and there was what seemed to be rose wallpaper just slapped onto every single corner of the room which was very overwhelming for me. I liked the other room before this one but I figured we've already walked this far from the door that I guessed we were stuck here. Our waiter came and got everyone their drinks which didn't take too long. The clear onion soup and ginger salads came out shortly after the drinks and was absolutely delicious. After the whole table was done with their appetizers, the chef came out and put everyone's dirty appetizer dishes in front of my girlfriend. So we were off to a good start. Our hibachi chef was very unenthusiastic. Well, that doesn't sound very fair since I imagine he's been doing this all day for a while and there's only so much you could do to keep yourself entertained. Let's just say he was very monotonous. There was a heartbreaking moment for me during our meal. There was a girl sitting next to me who was part of the other family at the table. We were both out of our beverages and our server came in like a knight in shining armor with his pitcher of water -- thinking he was going to save me from inevitable death by dehydration. I raise my glass not only to signal I was out of water, but to honor the waiter himself. He walks past me and refills the girl's drink next to me and walks away. All I could think about were all the sins I have committed in my life and what I may have done in previous lives to deserve this. That Big Sean song IDFWY played in my head as he walked away. So, our food was subpar. Actually, it was the worst hibachi I've ever had. The fried rice was overcooked and dry. The vegetables were caked with sauce. I couldn't even feel better about myself for eating veggies because of that. The noodles were noodles -- that's about it. I ordered filet and shrimp and got maybe 3 pieces of shrimp. When the chef asked if anyone wanted extra shrimp, I couldn't speak up because the dry rice and lack of water kind of restricted that passage. I also asked for my filet rare, but I guess well done is pretty much the same, right? It's pretty bad when the included appetizers were the best part of the meal. I usually like to give places a second chance because maybe it was just an off night. But for the prices I paid for the initial quality that I received, Ryuu Japanese Steakhouse will never receive my business again.

I've actually been here before, but things have gone down since my last visit. The image is of an upscale Japanese steakhouse but when the hostess wanted to seat us, she showed us to a booth where one of the cushions had a 14" rip down the middle so the stuffing was showing. EXCUSE ME, you want me to pay as if I'm at an upscale place but seat me in a Denny's booth???? Food was good, menu was confusing. I suggested that the general manager be beaten publicly for such simple over sites. We eat with our eyes first!

They staff was nice but really confused and lacking that higher level of service you expect in a place like this. We came for sushi but were seated at the hibachi table and told we couldn't move because the chef likes the chairs filled from left to right - so because we were on time, we had to take the worse 2 seats. When I questioned her, she said "I can ask" but this is how it is. So we decided to move into the other dining room, since we came for sushi anyway, but wait - even though there were several booths open, they didn't know where to put us. Finally another waitress seated us and low and behold, they forgot us. Eventually we ordered, had to have my sushi roll remade and the udon noodles in broth, I ordered, came in a troth - so unattractive when portions are ridiculously large, though they did bring two spoons as if my date and I were going to slurp soup from the same bowl.

The atmosphere, service and speed of food is unmatched. Service is top notch and so is the sushi. "Double J is all we have to say". We have frequented for a few years now and to know a company treats their employees with such respect is a rarity. Heck, even the owner gets in there and cooks/cleans with the rest of them. The portions and flavor of the hibachi could use a little work thus the 4 star reason as opposed to 5. Give it a try! Best hibachi and sushi quick fix in town.

ended up getting seated with three other parties, we were wedged into our hibachi table. After 10 minutes a waiter finally showed up to take drink orders, 10 minutes after that we got our drinks (he pretty much screwed up who got every drink), my friend ordered a plum wine, and it tasted like it had been made with liquid sugar. Another 15 minutes went by before the cook finally arrived, and the food that he brought with him wasn't right either. What followed was just, weird. Most places cook up a plate and get it to you, this guy cooked the veggies, then distributed them... then 5 minutes later began slowly cooking up the proteins (I had the chicken, which was dry and the scallops which were stringy). My friend had lobster, which was overcooked. After our proteins suddenly we got fried rice.... after we got rice we got udon noodles. it was the strangest japanese steakhouse food delivery I think I've ever seen. To add to our misfortune, one of the parties seated with us had been served WAY too much booze, and the server kept serving them. So bottom line: poorly cooked food, crappy service, and a poorly managed restaurant. Won't be coming back. Let the throngs at the mall have it.

It was very discussing when a roach surfaced on my wife's plate. The manager removed the plate and said he needed to call the exterminator again.

I've never gotten so much food. We ordered the hibachi style food (they call it something different). We also ordered two appetizers. The appetizers were huge. The gyoza were huge and there were five or six of them. The fried tofu was amazing and had alot too. We could've just eaten appetizers and been full. The hibachi style food came with a ginger salad and miso soup which I didn't see on the menu. Both were amazing. The miso was the best I've ever had. The mushrooms in it were great. I've never really liked mushrooms. I think they make their own dressing for the salad too. Delicious. The food finally came out after all that and noodles. There was a lot of food. I ordered the centrale one and it came out with tons of veggies and three tofu steaks and a bunch of fried rice. We were stuffed when we left and had enough leftovers for a good dinner. Definitely worth it.

Went there for lunch today , waited around for a server to come take our order for 10-15 mins . We ordered sashimi appetizer with fresh salmon and tuna , that we had to wait over 20 min to tell our server it was not kept fresh because she didn't bother to come check how our food was in a timely manner. She came back 10 mins after to ask if we wanted to order anything else ... We told her we ordered a sushi roll that she didn't even bother to ring in . I was so upset because when you have a hour to eat lunch before going to work you'd think that was enough time for 1 roll and sashimi appetizer . I left starving with no lunch nor did I get the chance to talk to a manager .

I really wanted to give this place five stars because I enjoy it so much, but I had one bad experience so had to do four stars. I have Celiac, so cannot tolerate gluten which of course limits my options. The first time I went there, the waitress was very knowledgable about what I could eat and told me they had gluten-free soy sauce so the Chef could make Teppanyaki. I had the chicken, vegetables with white rice and it was delicious! No salad or soup but there was plenty to eat without them. The second time we went, I told the waiter I had to have gluten free and he said they don't have it. I told him I had been there before and had it and he said they do not have any gluten free soy sauce so basically I was outta luck. Seemed rather rude and didn't want to be bothered. So, the next time we decided to go, I called first to make sure I could get GF and spoke to the sweetest woman who said of course they could make GF. That time when we went it seemed better even than the first time. The waitress was amazing and gave us great service. She told me the Chef made my food on a separate grill to avoid cross contamination. Color me impressed!!! So Ryuu has become my favorite place to eat out.

Out of the Japanese style grill show places in the area, Ryuu ranks 3rd. I'd Say Kobe is 1st , then JoTo's We tried Ryuu when it had opened at the mall for a change from the other restaurants during our shopping, and it was gross. Food was lukewarm and extremely salty. If you're in the mall and hungry, try Red Robin or Cheescake Factory. If you're in the mood for the show go to Kobe's.

I am only giving 1 star because I couldn't give less. I have never posted a negative review, but I feel like I have to in this case. I brought my Mom, my sister, my 12 m.o. niece and my 3 y.o. son to lunch. It was my Mom's Birthday. I was hoping to have a quick bite since we were in a rush. But we had a very negative experience overall. I heard good things about this Sushi restaurant, but have never been there myself. We ordered Chicken and Salmon lunch for my Mom and my son to split. Chicken was as tough as a rubber and there was an overcooked and burnt on one side about 3 oz piece of salmon in addition to that. If my Mom's meal wasn't $16 off since it was her birthday I would have asked to speak to a manager. We also ordered 3 rolls, which were okay for the price. Though the service was the worst. On my receipt it says SVR CK:20 STARR C. 0057 I am not sure of the name of the young blonde server girl since she didn't mention it while serving us. I have to say: I did tell her we were in a hurry in hopes she would come back to order soon. It didn't happen. She was gone for like 15 minutes. The only 2 things we asked her were 1) some extra ginger and 2) additional plate for my son (since he was splitting the meal with my Mom). She brought none of those. My sister wanted to order more rolls, but since the server only came by our table twice the whole time we were there (besides bringing the check) we weren't able to order more. By the time she came by the last time I told her that we were waiting on ginger and a side plate this whole time. She responded: "Sorry I was very busy"... After this response I told her not to worry about it, but didn't ask for my check. She brought check right away without offering us anything else or asking if we wanted dessert. After she brought me my check which was only $23.54 and I gave her $25.00. She asked if I needed change and I said "yes". She brought back $1.00 without change. I was going to tip her but this was the last straw. I took my dollar and left. I was extremely disappointed with this place. I have served for many years and I know how hard this job is and how busy you can get, but I don't think I ever treated my tables the way we were treated on my Mom's birthday! *This was August 21 2014 at 3:38 p.m.

My two little girls love this place. Every time we come here, they get so excited. They think it so cool. I love everything about this place. The service is a little lacking but we still love this place. The sushi is awesome. The Mai tai is so Delish! Yummy.

Came here for lunch one day with a girlfriend and was pleasantly surprised. Ryuu offers indoor and outdoor seating. the walls are brightly painted and the bar chandelier is pretty badass with multi colored lights. Our server was great and cheerful, it looked like she enjoyed her job. We both had the lunch hibachi special and a glass (or two) of chardonnay. Although they didn't offer the hibachi show like dinners the food came out cooked just so. I had the scallops and she had the steak, both were prepared perfectly. Can't go wrong if you are looking for a quick and inexpensive lunch.

Was in town visiting family and walked in here after we couldn't get a table at Cheesecake Factory and had eaten at CPK the night before. Interior looks nice and modern like you'd expect from an Asian fusion type place. Our experience, though, was that the food was just OK and the service was bad. Our waitress was bad from the get go. I ordered a Tsingtao (correct pronunciation followed by a deliberately incorrect one to try and help her out) and she had no idea what I was talking about so I had to point to it on the menu. My mother ordered a glass of wine that she also didn't seem to understand initially. We shared some sushi and it was the highlight of the meal. I'd give it a B+. We also shared some gyoza dumplings which were alright but not great. Kind of bland. Then we got the tempura appetizers that came with our mains...not impressed. Seemed like a sloppy, cop-out "throw it in the fryer" plate. All of the veggies tasted the same...like bland tempura batter. Our mains (chicken for her, beef for me) were pretty good. Overall, food was good but not great. Service was the real downfall for us. After the drink orders, the first food she brought was the gyoza on one plate. We had to wave her back down for serving dishes. Then when the sushi came, she didn't bring out any dishes for us to pour our soy sauce and we actually had to get another waitress to grab them for us since ours was nowhere to be found. This turned out to be the theme of the night. She was gone for very long periods of time and it took forever for us to get drink refills. When it came time for us to pay, we waited a long time to catch her and ask for our check. After she brought it, she disappeared again. We waited like 15-20 minutes with a card sticking out of our bill before we got fed up and asked one of the other waitresses to run it. Our waitress NEVER showed her face again before we walked out. Last time we saw her was when she brought the check. Needless to say, her tip suffered greatly. As far as our waitress goes, we may have just gotten unlucky with a bad egg or a new girl. Although this doesn't excuse how bad she was and the fact that she never apologized for her poor service, I must admit that I would have given this place 3 stars if it weren't for her. The food wasn't bad, it just wasn't great either. At the end of the day, though, I can see why they weren't nearly as crowded as the Cheesecake Factory, Bahama Breeze or CPK that are all right next to them in the town center. All three of those places have better food.

Beautiful room and the food is good, but nothing about this place is amazing. And the price isn't really justified... probably because they have to pay mall rent. I had the chicken, steak and shrimp combo. The shrimp was the best of the 3. The chicken and steak were pretty bland. The sauces didn't spice things up much either. Been to a lot of hibachi style places like this. This is by far the prettiest. But when it comes to food, the most forgettable. Watch for coupons in the paper. If you can get the buy 1 get 1 free entree one, the price for the meal isn't so bad. Waitress was nice, but the two giggly hosts were annoying.

I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. I did not expect to like it. I've been a longtime fan of JoTo's, but got tired of the substandard cleanliness and long wait. First visit we sat at the grill tables, standard performance that you associate with Japanese grills. One thing stood out that we thought was odd: serving grilled noodles and potatoes with the rest of your entree. Both were bland and completely unnecessary when coupled with your fried rice. On the next two visits we sat near the bar, to enjoy their beautiful color changing chandelier. Definitely Avatar-esque. Found out we could order anything off the grill menu (without the cloying grease perfume) or try their other listings. The house wine is pretty good, 2 for 1 made it very tasty. The sushi was excellent, if not particularly exciting. This is more of an adult restaurant, go here for a date or with a group of friends. I won't be bringing my 2 or 4 yr old here anytime soon. All in all, a great addition to the mall offerings.

I recently ate dinner at the ryuu steakhouse and very much enjoyed my time. The sushi was wonderful, and our server was very professional and polite. Plus, they have 2 for 1 happy hour all day every day. We did not eat at the tables where the chef cooks in front of you because we were short on time, but we saw one of the parties getting cooked for and it looked exciting and fun. We will definately be back! Oh, and the owner took the time to come out and talk to our table and make sure all was well. Great customer service!!!!

One of the worst restaurants we have ever been to. The ambience was great, but the food and service royally sucked. My husbands chicken was not fully cooked and our waiter did not speak english, so it was very hard to convey to her exactly what we wanted and getting our questions answered, forget about it! I can only think of one other time in the history of our dates that we gave a 10% tip and this was the second time. We love Japanese steakhouses...we will NEVER return to this one! Do not waste your money!!!!

Food was waaay overpriced, and wasn't even good. Ambience was great, they had this cool waterfall glass thing going on. Service was ok. Great location (at Brandon mall right behind the Cheesecake Factory). Very forgettable place

meh, dont care for this place. nice decor. most rolls have imitation crab. my roll was not memorable. i saw conch as a sashimi, figured i try it, eh its different. i got the bulgogi and the meat was tough. talked to a barback and he said he hates the bulgogi after finished eating it, weird comment to say to a customer.

Just average. Nothing special at the hibachi, cook seemed new and unsure of himself. Food was good, and standard hibachi fare. Main plus is the decor. Would go to other japanese steakhouses first.

In town on biz from the SF bay area. Was escorted to a booth that had a large rip in the upholstery and what felt like missing material so immediately wasn't impressed with the cleanliness. That was followed up by a menu that literally smelled like someone had puked on it. I had thought it was on the floor and could merely switch seats, but figured it out soon enough. Looking at the details it also appeared half of the bar's interesting overhead light was burned out or not turned on. I ordered the larger sushi/sashimi plate and while it came quickly there was way too much ginger, which I don't eat, on way too many areas of the plate, which then made half of the nigiri taste like ginger. There also was not any wasabi anywhere on the plate so I took some of my co-worker's wasabi and started eating. Most of the pieces were fresh enough, though the salmon was limp and tasted a bit dirty, which is a sure sign it was no longer fresh. I tried my co-worker's tsunami wave roll and think I got an end piece because it was 75% spicy mayo and not much else. He wasn't impressed either, and didn't finish that particular roll. Co-worker said the rest of his meal was okay but with so many other places to try we won't be going back here.

After hearing mixed reviews and was presently surprised! We had hibachi at a full table and everything was cooked to perfection. The noodles are on the sweeter side, which I like. The white (yum-yum) sauce is on point and I even liked the ginger sauce for once! Definitely will be going back

I would never go back. After walking inside, I waited a while, yet no one acknowledged that I was there, so I decided to sit at the bar. Several minutes passed before someone finally spoke to me. I was going to order the sushi combo, which included 7 pieces of sushi. Since the menu didn't say exactly what rolls would be included, I assumed that I got to choose. Apparently, it's a mystery on what you might get. The server said that it was "chefs choice". Really? What if I don't like any of these mystery rolls? I walked out. What place have you ever been to where you can't choose what you order? I will never return, even if they paid me. Lack of service, cocky attitudes of the servers and mystery food? No thanks.

Great interior design!! Food was yummy. Tofu appetizer, the combo dinners, and the sushi. Wasn't the best I've had, but pretty good for Brandon area. It's a lot of food if you order the combos. The service there was awesome. Waiters were very nice.

First off, I ended up at Ryuu because the person I spoke with at Kobe Japanese Steakhouse was very rude on the phone with me and I am SO GLAD they were. Truly beautiful inside. We had two hostesses and they both ROCKED! Very attentive and I don't think I ever saw one of them without a smile. We were there for my birthday (which by the way you get $16 off your meal when you show them proof) The food was EXCELLENT. The show was entertaining. You start with an onion type broth soup that was SO YUMMY. My wife hate's onion soup and she would not let me have any of hers. The salad comes with a ginger type dressing which honestly, I did not care for. Then - the main course. Shrimp, steak with potatoes, fried rice and noodles. All prepared right before your eyes. I also got a dark chocolate lave cake on the house since it was my birthday. My sister in laws birthday is this Saturday and we are heading back!!!

Not too sure how I feel about this place.... actually my Firecracker & Waikikii rolls were pretty tasty... also the Banana guns were awesome! However, they serve a few Korean dishes (like bulgogi) and it tasted like beef terriyaki! And the server recommended it! SMH. Obviously he never had Korean food! LoL. But I must say that the service was decent and my friend who ordered the "Bulgogi" was able to make a complaint to the manager, who graciously took it off the check. So good customer service! Anyways, the sushi was decent....not authentic, but I did not expect Japanese authenicity at a teppenyaki grill and attached to a mall! LoL.

Great looking restaurant. However the food and menu selection was not that great. We didn't sit at the tables, however the table food was the only cooked option. The sushi menu was ok, however we didn't try any. I got the Ribeye and Shrimp. The shrimp was good, however the Ribeye was the worst. For the money I would rather goto Kobe and deal with the bad service. The hot Sake here was also not very good.

I actually ordered takeout/delivery from here through mobilemeals.com . Everything was fresh & delicious & pipping hot. Got so much food for a very reasonable price. I ordered fried rice & filet mignon. The steak was a little bland, but still decent (I'm a huge fan of Benihana & Teppan Edo at EPCOT - they have great dipping sauces for steak)... I will def order again & am looking forward to trying out their dining room!
