I'm lucky that they are across the street from my office. I started less than a month ago and have been there 3 times already! The first time I tried the bratwurst platter with the warm potato salad and sauerkraut. Everything was awesome. Next I got the pork schnitzel sandwich with onions and cheese. Off the hook. Then I brought people there and got the chicken schnitzel platter. Once again, clean plate city. Service is warm and welcoming. It's such a hidden gem!

What a gem! German music, Nurnberger brats, Uschi's warm Bavarian hospitality. So glad I found this place. Thanks Yelp! Very casual place with a few tables, a few fridge units displaying meat and cupcakes and an extensive sandwich menu. But the great part is all the German food. My Nurnberger brats were huge and on a large platter with sauerkraut and homemade potato salad. Yum!

Not terrible, just terribly boring. Previous reviews suggest this place has great food. I personally was not impressed. Once again I was on a quest to try the $4.95 specials in recognition of the closing of the 495. Uschy's was one of the restaurants on the list of those offering specials. Their offering was their Chicken Schnitzel sandwich for $4.95. Granted I've never had schnitzel before so I have nothing to compare it to. I've always been curious to try schnitzel so this was a perfect opportunity. I live directly across the street from Uschy's and had never been in the place. On this my first and very likely my last visit I was underwhelmed by the decor. It just seemed lost in time. I was facing some trepidation about ordering this sandwich as I really didn't know what to expect. Luckily they had a photo of the sandwich on a board outside of the restaurant. A chicken sandwich shown with lettuce and tomato. It didn't look appealing in the photo but bravely I forged ahead. I went to the counter and there was a very sparsely stocked display counter. This is usually a warning sign for me. A display counter should be used to showcase delicious and appealing offerings. I have no idea what was going on in that case. There was a mish mosh of everything from can goods to who knows what. Again ignoring my intuition I carried on. The lady I'm assuming was the owner asked for my order. I told her to give me a minute. Though I knew what I wanted I wanted to look around. I spotted some brownies in a basket on the counter. I picked up several brownies and looked each one over. At this point the same lady informs me "They are all the same" and then she rolled her at me and scoffed as if this was the most ridiculous thing she'd seen all year. It was at this precise moment I almost walked out. Yeah I KNEW they were all the same. At least relatively anyway. I was inspecting the brownies not for uniqueness or lack there of but because a: I wanted to see how fresh or soft they were b: I was trying to decide between a corner or end piece (see they weren't all the same) c: I was really just churning in my mind whether or not I wanted the extra calories. Thanks lady for making my decision for me. My brownie selection having been thwarted I proceeded to order my sandwich. "Mustard?" she asked. "No, mayo." The guy who sitting outside smoking came in to make sandwich. Sure hope he washed his hands. A few minutes later he came out and asked if I wanted mustard. "No, mayo please". I got my sandwich to go. Took it home and unwrapped a thoroughly boring looking chicken sandwich. Firstly let me say there was NO lettuce or tomato as shown in the display photo. Just mayo, an over abundance of mayo. It tasted like someone fried up a chicken cutlet and put it on a roll. Chiabata to be exact. The chicken was very lightly dredged and slightly seasoned. Though it had had goo-gobs of mayo I did end up adding some brown mustard because this sandwich was terribly bland. I figured since they kept offering mustard it must be what makes this sandwich so great. It did make it better but certainly not great. Thank goodness for the roll. It was the best part of the sandwich. I doubt I would ever go back but I just might to try out the potato salad everyone is raving about.

My only complaint about Uschy's is that they're not open on the weekends. I went in for sausages and had a great chat with the manager - she helped me select the sausages and offered recommendations on how to prepare. They also sold peanut flips!

Good food at reasonable prices. I have had both the goulash and the turkey chile. Both were delicious.

I stumbled onto Uschy's Cafe while I was killing time in between a meeting. I walked in attempt to pull my life together with an espresso and was blown away by this little German eatery (fyi - they don't have espresso). On this occasion, and every occasion since, I have been greeted by Urschy. She is the best! You can tell she has a master vault of family receipt's under her belt that SHE has been cooking for year and is ready to share. She always goes above and beyond to not only accommodate everyone's taste but to make you feel welcome. What to expect: This is a hardcore, authentic German food cafe that also pumps out breakfast and excellent deli sandwiches. I am all about trying something new and obviously Urchy's specialty, so I have been ordering things like the Pork Schnitzel Sandwich, Bratwurst, Knockwurst & Bavarian Sausage Loaf. The Pork Schnitzel was pounded extra thin and served on a ciabatta roll which was delish! All of the other "wursts" and loaves are done to protection and come with potato salad & Sauerkraut. All food is brought to the table when dining in. I will make sure I post some more pics - I keep remembering as I have pounded half of my meal. The next time I go back I am going to try one of their deli sandwiches. They fly out the door and as a deli sandwich connoisseur they look amazeballs.

My coworker and I were out exploring during our lunch hour, since we're both here from different city offices, and found ourselves here. We both ordered the Schnitzel Wiener Art (chicken, instead of pork) which comes with sauerkraut and potato salad. I could not have been more pleased with this! The schnitzel was bigger than the toasted rye bread it came out and this was truly a sandwich that you need to eat with a fork and knife. It was just like the schnitzel I ate growing up as the son of an Austrian mother. The sauerkraut and potato salad were better than I could have expected. Uschy herself took our orders and was very pleasant to speak to. Getting to use my German conversationally was a treat as well. If I ever find myself back here in Wilmington I will be visiting Uschy's again.
