I have been on a Yelping hiatus. I was inspired to come out of hibernation today due to my Pickles & Chips lunch. This is the 5th time I have ordered from them. 4 out of 5 times I have experienced rude customer service, a snarky delivery driver, and the wrong order. I am not picky by any means. I have never sent a wrong meal back in a restaraunt and I've never been rude because I follow the, "don't mess with the people who mess with your food" rule. To top it off, I always tip at least 20%. To sum all that up: I'm a food pushover. Maybe I shouldn't be so nice. Every time the food arrives it is cold. Not even luke warm. But cold upon arrival over an hour later. Every time I call I have to ask for a total and every time I get a huff and puff over it. What if the price has gone up and my menu doesn't reflect it? It's happened before! Today, I called to place an order for three co-workers. Each time I started to give the order I was made fun of before I could finish. "1 egg salad sandwhich please on.." ..."yeah? on what? you want me to plop it on a plate or do you want bread?" With each sandwhich I ordered fries. Each time I was interrupted. "Did you get the order of fries with that last sandwich?" ..."yeah what else do you want?" "Can I have the total please?" "uggghhh" Jesus, sorry I asked. Well an hour and twenty minutes later the driver shows up. "I called you and you didn't answer." ..."sorry I came out front to wait for you so you wouldn't have to wait around in the lobby..." Nothing but attitude. On top of it the total was $2.25 more than I was told. I didn't say anything. The fries were also missing. So I called back and told them they didn't add all three orders of fries that I asked for. They call me back 20 minutes later and ask if I actually want to order and pay for one more order of fries. I told them never mind and hung up. Never again. Sometimes businesses feel that when their food is good enough they can act like an a**hole. Well not to me. This isn't Seinfeld and you aren't the Soup Nazi. If deliveries are a hassle--don't offer deliveries. Real disappointed Pickles & Chips.

While I normally love some Capriotti's, I also like to give other businesses my business. I headed on over to Pickles and Chips and WOOT! Folks, they make a daaaamn good Italian sub-- definitely get the one with the prosciutto; you'll be very happy. Fast, friendly service... and it does a heart good knowing that you're supporting an indie business. I think I might be a convert! Note: CASH ONLY! Plan ahead.

Great cheesesteaks. The meat is chopped small and rolls are great. Hope he don't change a thing

Hey I live around the corner from this place and it is a winner if you like a real Phillly Steak . Lots of meat - great bread and lots of cheese. The best in north wilm by far.

Love this place! The barnyard and the buffalo banger are the best. My only complaint is that they only take cash. That being said its never stopped us.

    Over priced. Stale roll.

Really awesome menu items. Ordered the barnyard and the meat was delicious but the bread was too soft and airy for the type of sandwich. Please get better rolls to match the creative contents!!!

Very creative! Very attentive . Caters to customers whims. Many different sub & sandwich creations . Best omelets in the area .

Great spot for a good sandwich. Their larges are truly large so go big or go home. Wish they had Ruben or a lox sandwich.

Cash only, so bring some with you. Go for the Barnyard which is a cheesesteak LOADED with chicken, beef, and bacon. Order without the ketchup to make it less soggy if you're ordering take out. The rolls are good though. I also recommend the fries and Kim's Tender Concoction.

Sandwiches were OK. Rolls were fresh. But cash or check only? C'mon, it's 2013! Who carries cash, let alone a check book. Too cheap to pay one percent for your customers convenience? Oh, but you can send them to the ATM next door where they pay $2+ to get cash?!?! Poor business. No wonder the place was empty during lunch hour on a Thursday. I won't be back.

In 14 years of patronage, I've only ordered breakfast sandwiches and that may be because their breakfast sandwiches are so damn good! Nothing fancy, but great bread, ample eggs and meat sit nestled in a lovely coating of cheese.

I was in need of a breakfast sandwich with an ACTUAL egg on it, and this place delivered. Bacon, egg, cheese, salt/pepper on an ACTUAL kaiser roll. (No offense Capriotti's, I love ya, but your 'kaiser' rolls are snowflake rolls.) It was filling and delicious and cooked to order in about 3 minutes.

Pickles and Chips is the best cheesesteak and sub you're going to get in Delaware hands down. And it is on par if not better than anything Philly has to offer, and without a doubt better than Pat's and Geno's. They also have lots of other bangin jaunts including the Barnyard (steak/chicken cheesesteak, bacon) and the Buffalo Banger (tenders, bleu cheese, lettuce, hot sauce on a large roll). facebook.com/group.php?g…

Funny thing - I got all the way to Philly to get a cheese steak. Tried the tourist traps Geno's and Pat's (which are by far the WORST cheese steaks in the world), some small hole-in-the-wall place that was recommended and some other place at Redding Terminal. Guess what? NONE OF THEM COMPARE! Kevin at Pickles will make you the best damn cheese steak you will ever have. By far - with cheese wiz and all if you like it that way. Philly has nothing on what he is doing in Delaware. IF you happen to be lucky and make it there when he makes his Turkey Salad Sandwich - you are blessed! It is the best damn chicken/turkey/tuna salad sandwich you will ever eat!

Walked in and got 2 sandwiches one day, they were so soggy and filled with way TOO much meat. It took them liek 15 mins to make it (noone else in store) and the owner might of said 2-3 words to me the whole time... awkward...will never return.

I used to love this place in high school. The last couple years, however, I have ordered a few things and always end up disappointed. I've never used Yelp before but today was truly an inspiration after my visit to pickles and chips. I ordered a sandwich and at the counter they took no debit or credit cards, but the price for my sandwich was pretty high so I had to go next door to the ATM and get cash which had a surcharge. Already steaming because of the price for what seemed like a pretty minimal sandwich, I waited 20 minutes and there were only two people in front of me. When trying to give my server the $8.50 , he said $9. I asked him why the price has increased from what was listed right in front of me and he said nothing, looked down at the counter and turned a menu over. on the menu was a small handwritten sign that said ."50 extra for any item with meat." Doesn't nearly every item have meat at a sub shop?! Change your prices to the real thing, liars! And start taking plastic! When I opened the sandwich they had forgotten one of my ingredients and I would say that it looked only half full. I will never get the cherished memories from high school hoagies back. Save yourself at least $5 and just get a WaWa hoagie. Forget about these rude sheisters @ P&C's.

There are no real sub shops in Los Angeles so we were pretty excited to be on the East Coast and be able to find something other than Subway or a mediocre chain. We Googled what was in the area and found Pickles and Chips and were not disappointed. We had tried to go to Cassapula's in Hockessin which was no longer there, which was surprising 'cause they had great sandwiches and had been opened since the '80s. So, shot down after that search we were in hankering for a good old fashioned Italian sub. It was as good as I remember from my childhood. Just straight up awesome. The place is kind of a bare bones sandwich shop but that is what I remember them being when I was a kid. And I don't need fancy wallpaper I just need a good sub.

Okay so maybe I am a little biased because my uncle owns this place, but they have the BEST subs and the BEST cheesesteaks!! Nothing else measures up! My personal favorites are the turkey sub - they also have a store-cooked turkey that they bake in-house that is really fresh and great - and the chicken cheesesteak. extra pickles please!! they also serve breakfast for the early birds - egg sandwiches and french toast are the favorites. They do takeout and deliver orders too, and they will cater special events if you call ahead of time.
