My husband and I stopped here without looking at Yelp or the website first, so we were expecting a larger selection of pizza/toppings. What we ended up with was basic but good. There are signs everywhere saying their pizza is "well done" which made me nervous, the pizza at the table next to us was black, but we lucked out and just got crunchy. Service was pretty good, but it was 3 o'clock so not exactly during a rush. One point that has been made several times already is that the soda is in bottles which I hate on two levels: I love fountain soda and I cringe thinking about all the waste because who knows if they recycle since it isn't required in DE. Honestly, they have a bar how could they not have fountain soda? The food was a 3 but the soda thing bumped it down to a 2.

My husband and I have eaten here a few times and were real fans of the style of pizza-- crispy, well done crust, chunky tomato sauce. But then a couple of weeks ago we both got *very* sick from the pizza. Curious to know if anyone else had this experience?

The restaurant has only been open a week, and I'm sure we'll try it again at a later date to see if it has improved, but our experience tonight was very disappointing. We arrived today (Sunday) at 4:45. It was relatively empty, maybe 4-5 tables seated. Our server was friendly and prompt, and we ordered an appetizer and a small pizza to share. The appetizer--Eggplant Marino--was delicious, though a tad soggy. It arrived about 5 minutes after we placed our order, and we finished it at maybe 5:10. At 5:15, our server told us that our pizza should be out shortly. She scored points for dropping off a plate with two of their (absolutely delicious) chicken wings as well, to try for next time. i would love to provide a fair review of the pizza, but by the time we got to eat it it was cold, so I have no idea what one tastes like right out of the oven. While we sat there from 5:15 to 5:50, the place slowly filled up and we watched numerous people get seated and get their food. Our server stopped by 2 or 3 times and told us the pizza should be there shortly, but it never arrived. To show how delayed it was, the family that arrived the same time as we did finished their food, paid, and the next family seated at that table got their pizza before we did. Finally at 5:40 we told the server that we needed the pizza to go (since a friend was coming to our house at 6), and we finally got our boxed pizza and a check at 5:50. I was shocked that no one came to apologize for the delay, though the manager walked by and looked at us and our empty table several times. We ate the pizza when we got home (late to meet our friend) and it was tasty but cold. It would have been better hot (I'm sure) but the cheese was no longer melted and the toppings had gotten cold. We paid the full price for our meal and left with a "come again soon!" from the very friendly hostess. Will we come again soon? Not likely. But we might give it another chance again in a few months after they work out all the kinks. Again, very disappointing service, but decent food.

This is seriously one of the best places for pizza around. The crust is thin and a little chewy, very unique. The toppings are high quality and delicious. Both the take out and eat-in service is good. Great neighborhood addition!

It was busy, so some people must like it. I on the other hand thought it was ok. The service is good, meaning the waitress was attentive and checked in plenty, the problem was the kitchen was backed up so it took way too long for our pizza. Of course as it says on the wall the pizzas are well done, and it was. This of course creates a crisp crust, borderline too crisp, but that's debatable. They do have some pretty good meatballs and ricotta, which I would go back for.

The pizza was good. You can tell it was cooked under a coal fire as the bottom was a little too coal burnt for my taste. We also thought they skimped on some of the toppings (olives). The service was quick, but it was not too crowded.

I think at the end of the day this is pretty much a 3.5 star place. It's not really as "bad" as a 3 but not quite on the 4 star level. The price slightly more than your average pizza place but it is in-line with any other place you sit down and eat at. Food was good, not amazing. Prices were reasonable. It sits in a strip mall so the ambiance outside it what it is, but inside it's nice, a bit on the low-light side. Service was good. In all, for where you're at I think you could certainly do a lot worse. The wings were good, and were recommended as something to try. They were different in that they were not obnoxiously greasy or full of sauce. More of a dry roast with caramelized onions and some bread. Pretty good, easy to eat and I did not feel like I was whaling in the calories. They say the pizza is "well-done" but it was not a bad thing. It was cooked just fine. We got the sausage & broccoli raub pizza and it was a pretty good combination. I ended up having 3 slices and we took the leftovers home and they warmed up well the next day. Pizza was balanced well, not too greasy. Solid. The unsweetened tea was from a bottle which I didn't like since it was not endless refills. But it is what it is. We ended up coming here after a bike race on the way home. And for sure it hit the spot. Maybe not your marquee Friday night meal, but for early Sunday dinner before a 2 hour drive home it was certainly a solid choice.

Not New York style and not Chicago style, this is different pizza. I don't know what "coal-fired" matters for it, but it did make for a charred sort of crust. Not burnt, just different. Of the pizza choices, the one with the roasted cauliflower appealed. Meatless, which is maybe healthier. And why not? It arrived quickly and cut into squares, not slices. Lots of toppings and it had an excellent texture and an excellent taste. Quite different and a quick sprinkle of the hot pepper seeds really kicked it up. Top notch service from Alex, who didn't mind at all that I sat there for about two hours with my pizza and just the one beer while I surfed away on their nice wifi. Awesome tunes, but then, I really like the '80s. You kids and your new-fangled "music" might not appreciate these classics.

First time here last week with a gf. We went about 15 min after opening and a good amount of people were already at the bar and seated so must be a good place! Waitress took alittle while to get out order. We ordered the white pizza with Italian long hots. Delicious! But beware!!! Very hot burned the roof of my mouth but that's bc it looked and smelled so good I couldn't wait! Service was mehhhhh. Waitress took a while to check on us and was no where to be found or waived down to pay for our meal. I guess a manager walking around and checking up on people likes to engage w patrons about what they ordered which is nice. Will def come back to this place if I'm around again but I'm going to try thier pike creek location.

OK, I know there are a lot of people that love this place and I get it, but I'm not one of the "Anthony Lover's". Not that I'm a hater either but I just don't see what's the big deal. Pizza is ok and wings and things are good but does not live up to some of the reviews I've read and the food I've eaten there several times. I've really gone back this many times because 1) my wife seems to enjoy it there, and 2) because there is not a lot to chose from while shopping in the immediate area when you get hungry . They brag about "well done" and I've even asked for food well done that simply was not. Believe me as a Chef I know what well done is. Nice place small cozy and plenty of TV action. Staff Is very attentive and prices are in line with the food and ambience. Parking is good and place is always clean. I just think there are way too many "Great" and I do mean "Great" places to get pizza and wings in a similar setting in the surrounding area.

Definitely the place to go if you want "well done" pizza. You can't go wrong with the traditional, but their white pizza is even better in my opinion. The coal oven gives it a nice crispy crust, but it's not burned. Parts of the crust may be a little on the burnt side, but I think this gives it character. Be sure to try the coal oven roasted wings. They are delicious. They're a little crispy on the outside, but so juicy on the inside. I don't eat pizza as often as I used to, but when I'm in the mood, better believe I'm going to Anthony's. I'm definitely a fan of coal oven pizza.

Love this place. The pizza is so good. I usually have a regular or pepperoni but yesterday I tried the fresh mozzarella and basil (their Margarita version) - excellent! I had a choice of fresh tomatoes or sauce. 1st place I've heard of that does that! I prefer the sauce unless the tomatoes are diced. The atmosphere in there is great and the customer service is excellent. The staff is very accomodating and professional and the prices are good too. I live 35 minutes away, but every time I need to go to Concord Mall, Trader Joe's, or NTB I make my way over to Anthony's. Well worth it.

One of my all-time favorite pizzas. I usually order pepperoni and onion pie and the crust is awesome. I love well done pizza and not a fan of doughy and overly cheesy pies. They have also a decent craft beer selection. The house salad is very good and wings are awesome. Service is consistently good. Hot tip: Discounted craft beers on Tuesdays and Thursdays!

Pros: the service was great! The eggplant was good, I dont know how they sliced it so thinly, but it was tasty. We had the white pizza, which was different from either white pizzas I've had before. It had no sauce (as is traditional), a very thin layer of what seemed like REALLY good ricotta cheese, and then mozzarella on top. Very unique and delicious. Cons...all sodas and teas were bottled. I get its a convenience for the place, and I guess they clean up on recycling, but I don't prefer it. I like fountain soda and brewed iced tea. It was LOUD in there...the music was loud and it was hard to hear. The table wobbled, which is distracting to me when I'm trying to enjoy my food and have a conversation. Finally, our plates were plastic. I am getting cranky in my old age, but I believe if you are paying 33.00 for a pizza, one soda and an eggplant app, you could serve your food on china. To me, it's a letdown eating some beautiful food on a plastic dish. Their food deserved better.

I enjoy Anthony's pizza and wings. The flavor added from the coal is great and the thin crust is terrific. However, tonight I thought I was biting into the crusts and struck something hard. Upon further inspection it was a piece of coal. I told the manager about the coal and showed him. He was unimpressed and says it happens all the time with coal, and did not offer an apology. I have friends who served there before and they told me that has never happened to them in all the time they have served there. The pizza is good. The wings are good. The manager this night was not so good.

Well we stopped in this place last weekend after finding that Panera Bread was wayyy too packed for us to wait around (surprise, surprise!). Anyway, kinda glad Panera was packed cause I got to try Anthony's and we weren't disappointed at all. The service was really good and the food was great! They gave us a few free wings to sample which were just superb - nice and crispy and served with some caramelized onions. My daughter and I ordered the Fresh Mozzarella & Tomato sandwich which came with a nice amount of prosciutto and arugula on it. Very tasty. My daughter's friend has a pepperoni pizza that she enjoyed. Not a whole lot on the menu there, but that seems to be the way alot of restaurants are going these days. I will definitely stop in again sometime.

Definitely not your typical pizza place. They specialize in wood oven thin crust pizza as the name would suggest. It's also a little more upscale inside then a typical pizza place with a nice bar to watch the game or whatever else at. The service was fine . Nothing extraordinary. I liked the pizza I got (cheesesteak) but I definitely didn't love it. In my opinion it was a little overpriced. It was $10 for a personal lunch sized pizza. I like my pizza with a little more dough then theirs has. Overall I had an average experience here but would suggest it to others but just warn them it is a little classier then just a pizza joint.

I've been hearing about Anthony's for a while on 94 WIP. Anthony Gargano is both doing advertisements and also the weekly "well done, well done" awards. Gargano also speaks highly of the food in general conversation. The food sounded really good. Some of our family from southern Delaware were coming up and wanted "good" pizza. This place did not disappoint. The chicken wings (not buffalo style) were perfectly cooked and possibly some of the best straight-up wings that I have ever eaten. Definitely top 5. The pork ribs with vinegar peppers were superb. The meat was falling off of the bone and the peppers were hot, but also super tasty. We had a plain "well done" pizza and it was absolutely top 5 all time plain pizza. No joke! The sauce is defiantly the high point, but the well done coal-fired crust was something very special as well. The bottom line is... You should go here if you dig good Italian style wings, ribs, and fantastic pizza. Next time I am going to try the meatballs!

Pizza and wings are AMAZING, buy you'll pay for them. I'd give this place 5 stars because ive dined in several times and its been a good experience. However tonight we ordered take-out and what a disaster, they forgot our salads ($11/piece) and we sure payed for them. So we paid $66 and got 1 large pizza, 1 small specialty pizza, and an order of wings for $66 :(. they need to shape up their "curb side to go" and train the teenagers better.

I wish there were separate ratings for this place in particular. So I had to give my average above but will divide my review: Pizza Rating: It is damn good, solid, kick ass pizza. And in Delaware, this is an extreme rarity. The standard traditional pizza is simply excellent. Ask for some fresh cut basil on the side to put on the top - just damn good pizza. Looking for something different - try the eggplant marino or the roasted cauliflower. Yep, cauliflower, which I am usually not a fan of. But this is the exception. Good when it comes to the table, good when you get home a few hours later and good right from the frig the next morning. Atmosphere Rating: It's noisy. It's crowded. You need to speak up if it is in the evening, especially on the weekends. But aren't all good places like this? Pricing Rating: Yep, it's on the expensive side. But please remember that you get what you pay for. They are not spending their money on china plates and soda fountains. They are spending it on an 800° oven, fresh ingredients and a small but well diversed menu. If you want cheap pizza, this is not the place to go.

Stopped in for lunch. The pizza is delicious! Love that they use while crushed tomatoes on it. The cheese on it was delicious. And they even put out fresh grates cheese in their shakers. Service was friendly and fast. Wish there was one close by us! Would recommend this place to any pizza lover.

Our pizza was completely burned on the bottom. All black and charred. Tastes terrible. Waiter said "that's what brick ovens do! they burn!" not true had great brick oven pizza that wasn't burned. Was such a shame!

Honestly, if I had to describe it in one motion, it would be a shrug. The wings were charred and covered in onions, and the roasted cauliflower pizza tasted like a burnt garlic bread. After waiting for 20 minutes, my family got to see in a small corner by the window. The atmosphere was loud and the entire stay there was a little screaming girl. If you want to go there sure, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Delaware generally lacks good pizza, but Anthony's is a good bet if you're looking for something slightly different. The coal fired style definitely adds a little extra something to the pie and helps the crust taste better than the crappy stuff you get at most pizza joints around here.

So there are 2 different things to be reviewed here...the pizza/food and the atmosphere. Food/Pizza - the name of this place has the words "coal fired" in it...so you have to expect that the pizza is going to be well done. It is a little black in some spots but it's thin and crispy/crunchy. On every pizza they put thinly sliced pieces of roma tomatoes that just adds a little "something" to it and the sauce is wonderful. Their toppings are different which is a nice change. It is a little expensive...like $20 give or take for a large. We also got the family house salad. The dressing was delicious and it had olives and beans in it...BUT...it was all the ends/stumps of the lettuce!!! You should be ashamed to serve a salad full of the ends of the lettuce. I would give it a try again and hope for better Atmosphere - this place is so unbelievably loud. The music is blaring and the acoustics are not good either. I could barely hear the person sitting right next to me so to have a conversation you have to shout. We asked them to turn the music down and nothing happened. Not quite sure what kind of scene they are trying to create but the current one does not work. So if you want to have a meal where you actually can have a conversation with the people you are with, this is not the place to go. I would eat here again, but not at this location.

We loved the pizza there. Thin, crusty, original mozzarella cheese, great tomatoes, basil ... the perfect Margarita! The house salad is very good as well. The locale has as almost as many TVs as tables and lacks originality.

No, like, guys, this pizza is perfect. Absolute best pizza I have had in my life. I like it with just onions on it, and that's all it takes for it to take the victory for most flavorful pizza around. First time I went, they brought out a free sample of their famous wings (as is their policy.) It was a great marketing tool because we have been raving about them to anyone who will listen and now we get wings AND pizza on our diet cheat days. Just go here.

Totally delicious pizza. The edges get consistently blackened, due to the heat of their coal oven, but the pies we've ordered have never been badly burnt. This is one of our new favorites for pizza in the area, and we really appreciate the curbside service they offer now, too. Want to take a trip to Flavortown, USA? Order the roasted cauliflower pizza. It's freaky delicious.

Hard to find a dish that I don't like here. We usually get the italian salad (serves 2-4) and a large pizza. Try the Paul & Young Ron and/or Broccoli Raab and Sausage. Also, the Tuna Sandwich is unsuspectingly good.

Great tasting pizza. My suggestion is the "paul and young ron" specialty with hot peppers. Caprese salad is delicious. I have had the meatballs as an Appetizer and they were pretty good. Have been here on busy and non busy nights and never really had more than a 10 minute wait. Decent beer selection.

Driving by and noticed this place and decided to give it a try. I love pizza and figured a new place that I hadn't tried before was a must eat. The menu is short, which I thought was promising since that implied they did a few things and probably did them well. The pizza I got was a half and half of a standard pepperoni - mushroom and the specialty broccoli rabe and sausage. The crust is a thinner crust that is coal fired oven cooked. The edges are nicely crisped but if the staff is not on the ball easy to burn. The tomato sauce was okay, not the best I have had but nowhere near the worst. The pepperoni was good, nicely spicy. However, I idid not that it was a commercial pepperoni, but the logo was too small to make out on the menu. Mushrooms were thickly sliced and still tender on the pizza without raw pieces. The broccoli rabe and sausage was good. The rabe was tender and well cooked. They did choose good quality rabe that was not overly fibrous or hard. The sausage was a bit disappointing as it was one dimensional in flavor. It did not have the complexity of flavors that I have come to expect with good quality sausages. I did pick up a piece of their new york cheesecake. It was okay. Standard graham cracker crust with a moist body. There was a nice even feel to the cheesecake, not dry spots or cracks. Overall it was a pretty okay pizza, better then some mass market chains (even with their new crust and sauce, not to point fingers).

Pretty darn good pizza, the sausage and broccoli rabe was very good and the basic pizza with an arugula salad on top was fantastic. Somewhat limited menu and the crust can be a tad on the burned side (charred is good, burned is not) but overall I would definitely eat here again - or in this case get takeout.

Really good salad and one of the better pizzas I've had in a while. On the other hand I ordered a bottle of Malbec and it had a small piece of cork in it. This prompted Abby our bartender to dump the half glass of wine in the sink for some reason and then not replace it. She said she would give me the wine she tossed then proceeded not to. Thanks Abby!

Tried Anthonys today for lunch and was impressed. I also stay away from chains but after hearing 610 WIP rave about there pizzas for the past week I had to try them out. Drinks do come in bottles, which is weird and pricey if you are a big soda drinker ($2.50/bottle). We started with the salad with gorgonzola cheese. It was really fresh with just the right amount of dressing. The small salad was big enough to split. We then had a pepperoni pizza. It was great, possibly top 10 in my book. The crust was crunchy and light. The pizza itself had a nice crunch to it as it is cooked in a high temp oven. Give this place a try!

Our intention to eat here was the result of wanting to try, in this region of Delaware, baked pizza that wasn't prepared in the conventional commercial grade, silver oven. Since Buckley's Tavern tends to be where everyone seems to flock over the weekends, this place was the only alternative that had been open until 11pm with available seating. It had the typical franchise flare- large and open tables that seemed bolted to the ground, pre-recorded tunes in a moderate decibel, front and back of the house staff that included our waitress who looked exhausted and irritated. Overall, the food was tainted with impersonal, unceremonious preparation. Our pizza had remnants of burnt spots from the coal fire that tasted authentic, however the topping choices were sparse and never offered anything beyond the usual onion, mushrooms, tomato and pepperoni deal. Maybe their supplier was the Domino's across the street. The price reflects the dim lighting, waiter service and the careful placement of classic celebrity pictures on the walls. They were pleasing to look at with Marilyn Monroe's pouty, teasing smile and Carey Grant who overlooked the dining patrons at table #5, but I was more interested in the food which, unfortunately, didn't make an impact. The sodas came in bottles, which was satisfactory, but nothing was on draft. Even the drink selection was a little bland. At this point I've manually changed my initial three star to two which better represents this place. If you appreciate a good tastey pie you'd come to find in NYC or a quaint little town with a burley man that tends to a brick oven in the back, this place is not for you. It leaves the imagination, and our appetities, yearning for more.

The menu is Pizza and that's about it. They have wings and gave us a couple to sample but they were pretty darn dry and like the Pizza coal tasting. The Pizza was okay if you like that burnt kind of taste/feel. Sodas are bottle and $2.60 each! They haven't heard of a fountain?

My husband and I wandered in to Anthony's tonight on a whim - we just wanted something to eat while shopping. I had no idea what to expect, but right away, everyone was very friendly. We were promptly seated and our waiter asked if we had ever been to Anthony's. When we said no, he explained their shtick and mentioned that they have bottled sodas. The sodas are priced pretty high considering that they are bottled, but I'm more than used to overpriced restaurant drinks - I just got a water. However, although we didn't order any, the alcoholic drinks seemed reasonably priced, and they had a few tasty-sounding cocktails. Their menu has pizza "well done" (meaning charred spots from the charcoal, which i like) and a couple of other things like wings, some sandwiches, calzones, salad, and some pasta, but clearly pizza takes center stage. We ordered a 16" Traditional pie with Pepperoni, and then the waiter said that he put in an order for a little sample of their wings since we were new to the restaurant, which I thought was great customer service! The wings were well seasoned and charred outside, but hot and juicy inside - they were really nice. While we waited, I got a look at the many photos and portraits on the walls in neat black frames. There are a lot of classic photos of icons like John Lennon, Marilyn Monroe and Elvis, along with some signed athlete photos and the like. The music that was playing was also pleasant compared to many restaurants I've been to lately. They seem to have a knack for the "classic and classy" atmosphere without being stuffy. To my surprise, the women's bathroom had framed pictures of Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, Elvis, George Clooney, etc even in the stalls. I definitely had a laugh. My husband told me the men's bathroom had similar photos as well, and mentioned that some of the photos made him think the place was definitely geared more towards adults than families (eg: suggestive photos, obvious nipples, etc). I just thought it was funny that there was a portrait of Johnny Depp over the baby-changing table. :P When the pizza came, we were pleasantly surprised yet again, because we could see that the extra $2.75 for pepperoni on the pizza was well-spent. As the waiter said, "we don't mess around with our toppings". There was quite a lot of pepperoni on the pizza! In one bite, I even bit through a stack of 4 pepperonis. However, this was a step above the typical pepperoni pizza with the fresh basil, small chunks of tomatoes, and the delicious cheese and sauce. The pizza was fairly thin and the bottom was crisp with a crispy blackened crust as well. Overall I was very pleased with our meal and my experience. They don't have a ton of things on their menu but they stay true to what they do really well - the pizza. My only suggestion would to possibly shave off $1-2 from the pizza prices. At least I know the money is going to tasty ingredients!

I'm a sucker for ricotta on pizza and this place knocks it out of the park! I've been twice now and both times I ordered the chicken wings, which were crispy and served with delicious onions and decent focaccia bread. The flavor of the wings is not "hot wing" but rotisserie and they are so good. Both times I also ordered the pizza with meatballs and ricotta, but the second time was with hots and sausage on it as well. The meatballs... oh, the meatballs are so soft and delicious! I can see myself driving there for them specifically The ricotta is the creamiest ricotta I have ever had. It pairs so well on the pizza. OMG, it's fantastic! The crust is slightly burnt, but chewy. We get pizza in New Haven, CT whenever in the area and while this isn't as thin as that style it is the closest I have found in this area.

We generally stay away from chains (yes, I'm a proud food snob) but had been wanting to try this place for a while- had a craving for pizza and wanted something new. We ate in with another couple. The decor is all black and white movie pictures and posters with an Italian theme (will the Jersey Shore kids have their headshots on the walls here soon?) that was how I'll describe as tastefully campy. Our server was friendly. I ordered an unsweetened iced tea and she brought me a bottle of unsweet tea- not the cup I was looking for. Sorta similar when you order Coke at some Asian places- they bring you a can of soda and a cup of ice. Thought this was weird, but whatev. We got the broccoli rabe and some meatballs as appetizers. The sausage with the greens was spicy and good. The meatballs were very soft and tasty (soft is how I like 'em!). They were served with a dollop of ricotta cheese. We got a large pizza with kalamata olives, proscuitto, and italian long hots. The pizza was amazing- hot, oozing with flavor, and was well done, as our waitress had warned us. Incredible taste with a thin crust. Nice and crunchy. Would definitely go back for pizza, or pick it up and take it home. I'm a fan!

Do you like your pizza well done and overflowing with delicious high quality toppings? If you said yes then you should be eating at Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza. In the world of "gourmet pizza," Anthony's ranks very high. While still a fairly new restaurant on the Delaware scene, they boast 2 locations in the small state. The first being in the Brandywine Market Square on Concord Pike and the newer location in Pike Creek. They use a Coal Fired oven to cook their pizzas, as well of a lot of their other menu items. The flavor this adds is amazing. I had the pleasure of dining at the Concord Pike location and must say the experience was highly enjoyable. The atmosphere is not what you would expect of a pizza joint, its kind of dark and intimate. The walls are adorned with flat screen televisions and pictures of everyone from Don Corleone to John Lennon. There is always good music playing overhead that's just loud enough that you can enjoy it, but soft enough as to not ruin your conversation. The staff at Anthony's is great. They always take great care of me when I am there. They are friendly, attentive, and efficient. Lets talk about Pizza. As I was once told by the Manager there, they believe in light sauce, light cheese, and heavy on the toppings. That and the fact that it is WELL done paints a great picture of what to expect. The specialty pies thy have there are really good and probably not what you are used to. Most recently I had the Broccoli Rabe and Sausage Pizza, and the Caramelized Cauliflower Pizza(pictured). Lets start with the Broccoli Rabe and sausage. This is one of my favorite pies at Anthony's. It is a great mixture of all the ingredients. The tomato sauce is nice. It's not too thick but also not watery. There is a delicious layer of melted cheese, and plenty of Broccoli Rabe and italian sausage on top. The bitterness of the greens works really well with the mild sweetness of the sausage. The Caramelized Cauliflower Pizza is not a standard menu item at Anthony's. I believe it is only currently available at the Concord Pike Location. I gotta tell you, RUN to Anthony's and try this pizza immediately! I have never enjoyed eating cauliflower this much. This is a pizza that does not have tomato sauce on it. The texture and flavor of the cauliflower is really surprising and the roasted garlic that is on it is to die for. I really hope this pie makes it on the permanent menu because everyone should get to try this pizza. We also were able to try their Chicken Wings today. These, like the pizza, are cooked in the coal-fired oven. Once again, Anthony's did not disappoint. They were great. You wont find these wings covered in sauce, nor will they burn your mouth. They taste like they are drizzled with olive oil and rosemary and cooked in the oven until the outside is crispy and flavorful. As great as everything was at Anthony's, I will say there are 2 things that are a little disappointing. The first is the price. These pizzas are a little on the expensive side. A large specialty pie is going to run you just over $19. A large plain cheese pie is about $14. (A Large pie is roughly 16") The other is beverages. While they do have a full bar, and some nights the have a special where a bottle or Peroni is only $1.50, you might only want a soda or iced tea. They do not have fountain drinks here. If you order a coke, you get a small bottle of coke and a glass of ice. If you order an iced tea, you get a bottle of Gold Peak tea and a glass of ice. Refills are not free. This, on top of the pies can add up pretty quick so be mindful. Lastly, it's not really a place I would take my kids to. At least not yet. This is absolutely no fault of Anthony's, I just think my kids would prefer a pizza place with a large mouse and a ball pit. All in all, I think Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza has some truly amazing pies, excellent wings, and an awesome group of people working there. While they may not be my choice for family night out, I can definitely see taking my wife here for a date night, or meeting up with some friends and splitting a pie.

My husband and I stopped here without looking at Yelp or the website first, so we were expecting a larger selection of pizza/toppings. What we ended up with was basic but good. There are signs everywhere saying their pizza is "well done" which made me nervous, the pizza at the table next to us was black, but we lucked out and just got crunchy. Service was pretty good, but it was 3 o'clock so not exactly during a rush. One point that has been made several times already is that the soda is in bottles which I hate on two levels: I love fountain soda and I cringe thinking about all the waste because who knows if they recycle since it isn't required in DE. Honestly, they have a bar how could they not have fountain soda? The food was a 3 but the soda thing bumped it down to a 2.

The restaurant has only been open a week, and I'm sure we'll try it again at a later date to see if it has improved, but our experience tonight was very disappointing. We arrived today (Sunday) at 4:45. It was relatively empty, maybe 4-5 tables seated. Our server was friendly and prompt, and we ordered an appetizer and a small pizza to share. The appetizer--Eggplant Marino--was delicious, though a tad soggy. It arrived about 5 minutes after we placed our order, and we finished it at maybe 5:10. At 5:15, our server told us that our pizza should be out shortly. She scored points for dropping off a plate with two of their (absolutely delicious) chicken wings as well, to try for next time. i would love to provide a fair review of the pizza, but by the time we got to eat it it was cold, so I have no idea what one tastes like right out of the oven. While we sat there from 5:15 to 5:50, the place slowly filled up and we watched numerous people get seated and get their food. Our server stopped by 2 or 3 times and told us the pizza should be there shortly, but it never arrived. To show how delayed it was, the family that arrived the same time as we did finished their food, paid, and the next family seated at that table got their pizza before we did. Finally at 5:40 we told the server that we needed the pizza to go (since a friend was coming to our house at 6), and we finally got our boxed pizza and a check at 5:50. I was shocked that no one came to apologize for the delay, though the manager walked by and looked at us and our empty table several times. We ate the pizza when we got home (late to meet our friend) and it was tasty but cold. It would have been better hot (I'm sure) but the cheese was no longer melted and the toppings had gotten cold. We paid the full price for our meal and left with a "come again soon!" from the very friendly hostess. Will we come again soon? Not likely. But we might give it another chance again in a few months after they work out all the kinks. Again, very disappointing service, but decent food.

It was busy, so some people must like it. I on the other hand thought it was ok. The service is good, meaning the waitress was attentive and checked in plenty, the problem was the kitchen was backed up so it took way too long for our pizza. Of course as it says on the wall the pizzas are well done, and it was. This of course creates a crisp crust, borderline too crisp, but that's debatable. They do have some pretty good meatballs and ricotta, which I would go back for.

I think at the end of the day this is pretty much a 3.5 star place. It's not really as "bad" as a 3 but not quite on the 4 star level. The price slightly more than your average pizza place but it is in-line with any other place you sit down and eat at. Food was good, not amazing. Prices were reasonable. It sits in a strip mall so the ambiance outside it what it is, but inside it's nice, a bit on the low-light side. Service was good. In all, for where you're at I think you could certainly do a lot worse. The wings were good, and were recommended as something to try. They were different in that they were not obnoxiously greasy or full of sauce. More of a dry roast with caramelized onions and some bread. Pretty good, easy to eat and I did not feel like I was whaling in the calories. They say the pizza is "well-done" but it was not a bad thing. It was cooked just fine. We got the sausage & broccoli raub pizza and it was a pretty good combination. I ended up having 3 slices and we took the leftovers home and they warmed up well the next day. Pizza was balanced well, not too greasy. Solid. The unsweetened tea was from a bottle which I didn't like since it was not endless refills. But it is what it is. We ended up coming here after a bike race on the way home. And for sure it hit the spot. Maybe not your marquee Friday night meal, but for early Sunday dinner before a 2 hour drive home it was certainly a solid choice.

Not New York style and not Chicago style, this is different pizza. I don't know what "coal-fired" matters for it, but it did make for a charred sort of crust. Not burnt, just different. Of the pizza choices, the one with the roasted cauliflower appealed. Meatless, which is maybe healthier. And why not? It arrived quickly and cut into squares, not slices. Lots of toppings and it had an excellent texture and an excellent taste. Quite different and a quick sprinkle of the hot pepper seeds really kicked it up. Top notch service from Alex, who didn't mind at all that I sat there for about two hours with my pizza and just the one beer while I surfed away on their nice wifi. Awesome tunes, but then, I really like the '80s. You kids and your new-fangled "music" might not appreciate these classics.

First time here last week with a gf. We went about 15 min after opening and a good amount of people were already at the bar and seated so must be a good place! Waitress took alittle while to get out order. We ordered the white pizza with Italian long hots. Delicious! But beware!!! Very hot burned the roof of my mouth but that's bc it looked and smelled so good I couldn't wait! Service was mehhhhh. Waitress took a while to check on us and was no where to be found or waived down to pay for our meal. I guess a manager walking around and checking up on people likes to engage w patrons about what they ordered which is nice. Will def come back to this place if I'm around again but I'm going to try thier pike creek location.

OK, I know there are a lot of people that love this place and I get it, but I'm not one of the "Anthony Lover's". Not that I'm a hater either but I just don't see what's the big deal. Pizza is ok and wings and things are good but does not live up to some of the reviews I've read and the food I've eaten there several times. I've really gone back this many times because 1) my wife seems to enjoy it there, and 2) because there is not a lot to chose from while shopping in the immediate area when you get hungry . They brag about "well done" and I've even asked for food well done that simply was not. Believe me as a Chef I know what well done is. Nice place small cozy and plenty of TV action. Staff Is very attentive and prices are in line with the food and ambience. Parking is good and place is always clean. I just think there are way too many "Great" and I do mean "Great" places to get pizza and wings in a similar setting in the surrounding area.

Definitely the place to go if you want "well done" pizza. You can't go wrong with the traditional, but their white pizza is even better in my opinion. The coal oven gives it a nice crispy crust, but it's not burned. Parts of the crust may be a little on the burnt side, but I think this gives it character. Be sure to try the coal oven roasted wings. They are delicious. They're a little crispy on the outside, but so juicy on the inside. I don't eat pizza as often as I used to, but when I'm in the mood, better believe I'm going to Anthony's. I'm definitely a fan of coal oven pizza.

Love this place. The pizza is so good. I usually have a regular or pepperoni but yesterday I tried the fresh mozzarella and basil (their Margarita version) - excellent! I had a choice of fresh tomatoes or sauce. 1st place I've heard of that does that! I prefer the sauce unless the tomatoes are diced. The atmosphere in there is great and the customer service is excellent. The staff is very accomodating and professional and the prices are good too. I live 35 minutes away, but every time I need to go to Concord Mall, Trader Joe's, or NTB I make my way over to Anthony's. Well worth it.

Pros: the service was great! The eggplant was good, I dont know how they sliced it so thinly, but it was tasty. We had the white pizza, which was different from either white pizzas I've had before. It had no sauce (as is traditional), a very thin layer of what seemed like REALLY good ricotta cheese, and then mozzarella on top. Very unique and delicious. Cons...all sodas and teas were bottled. I get its a convenience for the place, and I guess they clean up on recycling, but I don't prefer it. I like fountain soda and brewed iced tea. It was LOUD in there...the music was loud and it was hard to hear. The table wobbled, which is distracting to me when I'm trying to enjoy my food and have a conversation. Finally, our plates were plastic. I am getting cranky in my old age, but I believe if you are paying 33.00 for a pizza, one soda and an eggplant app, you could serve your food on china. To me, it's a letdown eating some beautiful food on a plastic dish. Their food deserved better.

I enjoy Anthony's pizza and wings. The flavor added from the coal is great and the thin crust is terrific. However, tonight I thought I was biting into the crusts and struck something hard. Upon further inspection it was a piece of coal. I told the manager about the coal and showed him. He was unimpressed and says it happens all the time with coal, and did not offer an apology. I have friends who served there before and they told me that has never happened to them in all the time they have served there. The pizza is good. The wings are good. The manager this night was not so good.

Well we stopped in this place last weekend after finding that Panera Bread was wayyy too packed for us to wait around (surprise, surprise!). Anyway, kinda glad Panera was packed cause I got to try Anthony's and we weren't disappointed at all. The service was really good and the food was great! They gave us a few free wings to sample which were just superb - nice and crispy and served with some caramelized onions. My daughter and I ordered the Fresh Mozzarella & Tomato sandwich which came with a nice amount of prosciutto and arugula on it. Very tasty. My daughter's friend has a pepperoni pizza that she enjoyed. Not a whole lot on the menu there, but that seems to be the way alot of restaurants are going these days. I will definitely stop in again sometime.

Definitely not your typical pizza place. They specialize in wood oven thin crust pizza as the name would suggest. It's also a little more upscale inside then a typical pizza place with a nice bar to watch the game or whatever else at. The service was fine . Nothing extraordinary. I liked the pizza I got (cheesesteak) but I definitely didn't love it. In my opinion it was a little overpriced. It was $10 for a personal lunch sized pizza. I like my pizza with a little more dough then theirs has. Overall I had an average experience here but would suggest it to others but just warn them it is a little classier then just a pizza joint.

One of my all-time favorite pizzas. I usually order pepperoni and onion pie and the crust is awesome. I love well done pizza and not a fan of doughy and overly cheesy pies. They have also a decent craft beer selection. The house salad is very good and wings are awesome. Service is consistently good. Hot tip: Discounted craft beers on Tuesdays and Thursdays!

So there are 2 different things to be reviewed here...the pizza/food and the atmosphere. Food/Pizza - the name of this place has the words "coal fired" in it...so you have to expect that the pizza is going to be well done. It is a little black in some spots but it's thin and crispy/crunchy. On every pizza they put thinly sliced pieces of roma tomatoes that just adds a little "something" to it and the sauce is wonderful. Their toppings are different which is a nice change. It is a little expensive...like $20 give or take for a large. We also got the family house salad. The dressing was delicious and it had olives and beans in it...BUT...it was all the ends/stumps of the lettuce!!! You should be ashamed to serve a salad full of the ends of the lettuce. I would give it a try again and hope for better Atmosphere - this place is so unbelievably loud. The music is blaring and the acoustics are not good either. I could barely hear the person sitting right next to me so to have a conversation you have to shout. We asked them to turn the music down and nothing happened. Not quite sure what kind of scene they are trying to create but the current one does not work. So if you want to have a meal where you actually can have a conversation with the people you are with, this is not the place to go. I would eat here again, but not at this location.

Pros: the service was great! The eggplant was good, I dont know how they sliced it so thinly, but it was tasty. We had the white pizza, which was different from either white pizzas I've had before. It had no sauce (as is traditional), a very thin layer of what seemed like REALLY good ricotta cheese, and then mozzarella on top. Very unique and delicious. Cons...all sodas and teas were bottled. I get its a convenience for the place, and I guess they clean up on recycling, but I don't prefer it. I like fountain soda and brewed iced tea. It was LOUD in there...the music was loud and it was hard to hear. The table wobbled, which is distracting to me when I'm trying to enjoy my food and have a conversation. Finally, our plates were plastic. I am getting cranky in my old age, but I believe if you are paying 33.00 for a pizza, one soda and an eggplant app, you could serve your food on china. To me, it's a letdown eating some beautiful food on a plastic dish. Their food deserved better.

I enjoy Anthony's pizza and wings. The flavor added from the coal is great and the thin crust is terrific. However, tonight I thought I was biting into the crusts and struck something hard. Upon further inspection it was a piece of coal. I told the manager about the coal and showed him. He was unimpressed and says it happens all the time with coal, and did not offer an apology. I have friends who served there before and they told me that has never happened to them in all the time they have served there. The pizza is good. The wings are good. The manager this night was not so good.

Well we stopped in this place last weekend after finding that Panera Bread was wayyy too packed for us to wait around (surprise, surprise!). Anyway, kinda glad Panera was packed cause I got to try Anthony's and we weren't disappointed at all. The service was really good and the food was great! They gave us a few free wings to sample which were just superb - nice and crispy and served with some caramelized onions. My daughter and I ordered the Fresh Mozzarella & Tomato sandwich which came with a nice amount of prosciutto and arugula on it. Very tasty. My daughter's friend has a pepperoni pizza that she enjoyed. Not a whole lot on the menu there, but that seems to be the way alot of restaurants are going these days. I will definitely stop in again sometime.

I've been hearing about Anthony's for a while on 94 WIP. Anthony Gargano is both doing advertisements and also the weekly "well done, well done" awards. Gargano also speaks highly of the food in general conversation. The food sounded really good. Some of our family from southern Delaware were coming up and wanted "good" pizza. This place did not disappoint. The chicken wings (not buffalo style) were perfectly cooked and possibly some of the best straight-up wings that I have ever eaten. Definitely top 5. The pork ribs with vinegar peppers were superb. The meat was falling off of the bone and the peppers were hot, but also super tasty. We had a plain "well done" pizza and it was absolutely top 5 all time plain pizza. No joke! The sauce is defiantly the high point, but the well done coal-fired crust was something very special as well. The bottom line is... You should go here if you dig good Italian style wings, ribs, and fantastic pizza. Next time I am going to try the meatballs!

I wish there were separate ratings for this place in particular. So I had to give my average above but will divide my review: Pizza Rating: It is damn good, solid, kick ass pizza. And in Delaware, this is an extreme rarity. The standard traditional pizza is simply excellent. Ask for some fresh cut basil on the side to put on the top - just damn good pizza. Looking for something different - try the eggplant marino or the roasted cauliflower. Yep, cauliflower, which I am usually not a fan of. But this is the exception. Good when it comes to the table, good when you get home a few hours later and good right from the frig the next morning. Atmosphere Rating: It's noisy. It's crowded. You need to speak up if it is in the evening, especially on the weekends. But aren't all good places like this? Pricing Rating: Yep, it's on the expensive side. But please remember that you get what you pay for. They are not spending their money on china plates and soda fountains. They are spending it on an 800° oven, fresh ingredients and a small but well diversed menu. If you want cheap pizza, this is not the place to go.

Honestly, if I had to describe it in one motion, it would be a shrug. The wings were charred and covered in onions, and the roasted cauliflower pizza tasted like a burnt garlic bread. After waiting for 20 minutes, my family got to see in a small corner by the window. The atmosphere was loud and the entire stay there was a little screaming girl. If you want to go there sure, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Delaware generally lacks good pizza, but Anthony's is a good bet if you're looking for something slightly different. The coal fired style definitely adds a little extra something to the pie and helps the crust taste better than the crappy stuff you get at most pizza joints around here.

Our intention to eat here was the result of wanting to try, in this region of Delaware, baked pizza that wasn't prepared in the conventional commercial grade, silver oven. Since Buckley's Tavern tends to be where everyone seems to flock over the weekends, this place was the only alternative that had been open until 11pm with available seating. It had the typical franchise flare- large and open tables that seemed bolted to the ground, pre-recorded tunes in a moderate decibel, front and back of the house staff that included our waitress who looked exhausted and irritated. Overall, the food was tainted with impersonal, unceremonious preparation. Our pizza had remnants of burnt spots from the coal fire that tasted authentic, however the topping choices were sparse and never offered anything beyond the usual onion, mushrooms, tomato and pepperoni deal. Maybe their supplier was the Domino's across the street. The price reflects the dim lighting, waiter service and the careful placement of classic celebrity pictures on the walls. They were pleasing to look at with Marilyn Monroe's pouty, teasing smile and Carey Grant who overlooked the dining patrons at table #5, but I was more interested in the food which, unfortunately, didn't make an impact. The sodas came in bottles, which was satisfactory, but nothing was on draft. Even the drink selection was a little bland. At this point I've manually changed my initial three star to two which better represents this place. If you appreciate a good tastey pie you'd come to find in NYC or a quaint little town with a burley man that tends to a brick oven in the back, this place is not for you. It leaves the imagination, and our appetities, yearning for more.

Really good salad and one of the better pizzas I've had in a while. On the other hand I ordered a bottle of Malbec and it had a small piece of cork in it. This prompted Abby our bartender to dump the half glass of wine in the sink for some reason and then not replace it. She said she would give me the wine she tossed then proceeded not to. Thanks Abby!

Having tried coal fired pizza a number of other places, they sure seem to have screwed it up here. The pizza is not much better than any mom or pop place in town, inconsistently blackened, and the chain vibe to the place doesn't help much. Wow, this places rocks..as we do every other weekend..two of my good coworkers and their wives and I with the GF decided to go to Anthony's coal fire pizza. we started with the wings and ribs as appetizers. I can recommend the wings over the ribs. I was told by the waiter that the wings are placed inside the pizza oven..god what a great cinvinstion. We then order a plain pizza and a John and Ron pizza. John and Ron consist of small meat ball, peper(hot if prefered), onions. Delicious, delicious. This place is a most visit.

I'm a sucker for ricotta on pizza and this place knocks it out of the park! I've been twice now and both times I ordered the chicken wings, which were crispy and served with delicious onions and decent focaccia bread. The flavor of the wings is not "hot wing" but rotisserie and they are so good. Both times I also ordered the pizza with meatballs and ricotta, but the second time was with hots and sausage on it as well. The meatballs... oh, the meatballs are so soft and delicious! I can see myself driving there for them specifically The ricotta is the creamiest ricotta I have ever had. It pairs so well on the pizza. OMG, it's fantastic! The crust is slightly burnt, but chewy. We get pizza in New Haven, CT whenever in the area and while this isn't as thin as that style it is the closest I have found in this area.

We generally stay away from chains (yes, I'm a proud food snob) but had been wanting to try this place for a while- had a craving for pizza and wanted something new. We ate in with another couple. The decor is all black and white movie pictures and posters with an Italian theme (will the Jersey Shore kids have their headshots on the walls here soon?) that was how I'll describe as tastefully campy. Our server was friendly. I ordered an unsweetened iced tea and she brought me a bottle of unsweet tea- not the cup I was looking for. Sorta similar when you order Coke at some Asian places- they bring you a can of soda and a cup of ice. Thought this was weird, but whatev. We got the broccoli rabe and some meatballs as appetizers. The sausage with the greens was spicy and good. The meatballs were very soft and tasty (soft is how I like 'em!). They were served with a dollop of ricotta cheese. We got a large pizza with kalamata olives, proscuitto, and italian long hots. The pizza was amazing- hot, oozing with flavor, and was well done, as our waitress had warned us. Incredible taste with a thin crust. Nice and crunchy. Would definitely go back for pizza, or pick it up and take it home. I'm a fan!

Do you like your pizza well done and overflowing with delicious high quality toppings? If you said yes then you should be eating at Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza. In the world of "gourmet pizza," Anthony's ranks very high. While still a fairly new restaurant on the Delaware scene, they boast 2 locations in the small state. The first being in the Brandywine Market Square on Concord Pike and the newer location in Pike Creek. They use a Coal Fired oven to cook their pizzas, as well of a lot of their other menu items. The flavor this adds is amazing. I had the pleasure of dining at the Concord Pike location and must say the experience was highly enjoyable. The atmosphere is not what you would expect of a pizza joint, its kind of dark and intimate. The walls are adorned with flat screen televisions and pictures of everyone from Don Corleone to John Lennon. There is always good music playing overhead that's just loud enough that you can enjoy it, but soft enough as to not ruin your conversation. The staff at Anthony's is great. They always take great care of me when I am there. They are friendly, attentive, and efficient. Lets talk about Pizza. As I was once told by the Manager there, they believe in light sauce, light cheese, and heavy on the toppings. That and the fact that it is WELL done paints a great picture of what to expect. The specialty pies thy have there are really good and probably not what you are used to. Most recently I had the Broccoli Rabe and Sausage Pizza, and the Caramelized Cauliflower Pizza(pictured). Lets start with the Broccoli Rabe and sausage. This is one of my favorite pies at Anthony's. It is a great mixture of all the ingredients. The tomato sauce is nice. It's not too thick but also not watery. There is a delicious layer of melted cheese, and plenty of Broccoli Rabe and italian sausage on top. The bitterness of the greens works really well with the mild sweetness of the sausage. The Caramelized Cauliflower Pizza is not a standard menu item at Anthony's. I believe it is only currently available at the Concord Pike Location. I gotta tell you, RUN to Anthony's and try this pizza immediately! I have never enjoyed eating cauliflower this much. This is a pizza that does not have tomato sauce on it. The texture and flavor of the cauliflower is really surprising and the roasted garlic that is on it is to die for. I really hope this pie makes it on the permanent menu because everyone should get to try this pizza. We also were able to try their Chicken Wings today. These, like the pizza, are cooked in the coal-fired oven. Once again, Anthony's did not disappoint. They were great. You wont find these wings covered in sauce, nor will they burn your mouth. They taste like they are drizzled with olive oil and rosemary and cooked in the oven until the outside is crispy and flavorful. As great as everything was at Anthony's, I will say there are 2 things that are a little disappointing. The first is the price. These pizzas are a little on the expensive side. A large specialty pie is going to run you just over $19. A large plain cheese pie is about $14. (A Large pie is roughly 16") The other is beverages. While they do have a full bar, and some nights the have a special where a bottle or Peroni is only $1.50, you might only want a soda or iced tea. They do not have fountain drinks here. If you order a coke, you get a small bottle of coke and a glass of ice. If you order an iced tea, you get a bottle of Gold Peak tea and a glass of ice. Refills are not free. This, on top of the pies can add up pretty quick so be mindful. Lastly, it's not really a place I would take my kids to. At least not yet. This is absolutely no fault of Anthony's, I just think my kids would prefer a pizza place with a large mouse and a ball pit. All in all, I think Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza has some truly amazing pies, excellent wings, and an awesome group of people working there. While they may not be my choice for family night out, I can definitely see taking my wife here for a date night, or meeting up with some friends and splitting a pie.

My husband and I stopped here without looking at Yelp or the website first, so we were expecting a larger selection of pizza/toppings. What we ended up with was basic but good. There are signs everywhere saying their pizza is "well done" which made me nervous, the pizza at the table next to us was black, but we lucked out and just got crunchy. Service was pretty good, but it was 3 o'clock so not exactly during a rush. One point that has been made several times already is that the soda is in bottles which I hate on two levels: I love fountain soda and I cringe thinking about all the waste because who knows if they recycle since it isn't required in DE. Honestly, they have a bar how could they not have fountain soda? The food was a 3 but the soda thing bumped it down to a 2.

Great tasting pizza. My suggestion is the "paul and young ron" specialty with hot peppers. Caprese salad is delicious. I have had the meatballs as an Appetizer and they were pretty good. Have been here on busy and non busy nights and never really had more than a 10 minute wait. Decent beer selection.

However tonight we ordered take-out and what a disaster, they forgot our salads ($11/piece) and we sure payed for them. Driving by and noticed this place and decided to give it a try. I love pizza and figured a new place that I hadn't tried before was a must eat. The menu is short, which I thought was promising since that implied they did a few things and probably did them well. The pizza I got was a half and half of a standard pepperoni - mushroom and the specialty broccoli rabe and sausage. The crust is a thinner crust that is coal fired oven cooked. The edges are nicely crisped but if the staff is not on the ball easy to burn. The tomato sauce was okay, not the best I have had but nowhere near the worst. The pepperoni was good, nicely spicy. However, I idid not that it was a commercial pepperoni, but the logo was too small to make out on the menu. Mushrooms were thickly sliced and still tender on the pizza without raw pieces. The broccoli rabe and sausage was good. The rabe was tender and well cooked. They did choose good quality rabe that was not overly fibrous or hard. The sausage was a bit disappointing as it was one dimensional in flavor. It did not have the complexity of flavors that I have come to expect with good quality sausages. I did pick up a piece of their new york cheesecake. It was okay. Standard graham cracker crust with a moist body. There was a nice even feel to the cheesecake, not dry spots or cracks. Overall it was a pretty okay pizza, better then some mass market chains (even with their new crust and sauce, not to point fingers).

Wow, this places rocks..as we do every other weekend..two of my good coworkers and their wives and I with the GF decided to go to Anthony's coal fire pizza. we started with the wings and ribs as appetizers. I can recommend the wings over the ribs. I was told by the waiter that the wings are placed inside the pizza oven..god what a great cinvinstion. We then order a plain pizza and a John and Ron pizza. John and Ron consist of small meat ball, peper(hot if prefered), onions. Delicious, delicious. This place is a most visit.

Love this place. The pizza is so good. I usually have a regular or pepperoni but yesterday I tried the fresh mozzarella and basil (their Margarita version) - excellent! I had a choice of fresh tomatoes or sauce. 1st place I've heard of that does that! I prefer the sauce unless the tomatoes are diced. The atmosphere in there is great and the customer service is excellent. The staff is very accomodating and professional and the prices are good too. I live 35 minutes away, but every time I need to go to Concord Mall, Trader Joe's, or NTB I make my way over to Anthony's. Well worth it.

It was busy, so some people must like it. I on the other hand thought it was ok. The service is good, meaning the waitress was attentive and checked in plenty, the problem was the kitchen was backed up so it took way too long for our pizza. Of course as it says on the wall the pizzas are well done, and it was. This of course creates a crisp crust, borderline too crisp, but that's debatable. They do have some pretty good meatballs and ricotta, which I would go back for.

The restaurant has only been open a week, and I'm sure we'll try it again at a later date to see if it has improved, but our experience tonight was very disappointing. We arrived today (Sunday) at 4:45. It was relatively empty, maybe 4-5 tables seated. Our server was friendly and prompt, and we ordered an appetizer and a small pizza to share. The appetizer--Eggplant Marino--was delicious, though a tad soggy. It arrived about 5 minutes after we placed our order, and we finished it at maybe 5:10. At 5:15, our server told us that our pizza should be out shortly. She scored points for dropping off a plate with two of their (absolutely delicious) chicken wings as well, to try for next time. i would love to provide a fair review of the pizza, but by the time we got to eat it it was cold, so I have no idea what one tastes like right out of the oven. While we sat there from 5:15 to 5:50, the place slowly filled up and we watched numerous people get seated and get their food. Our server stopped by 2 or 3 times and told us the pizza should be there shortly, but it never arrived. To show how delayed it was, the family that arrived the same time as we did finished their food, paid, and the next family seated at that table got their pizza before we did. Finally at 5:40 we told the server that we needed the pizza to go (since a friend was coming to our house at 6), and we finally got our boxed pizza and a check at 5:50. I was shocked that no one came to apologize for the delay, though the manager walked by and looked at us and our empty table several times. We ate the pizza when we got home (late to meet our friend) and it was tasty but cold. It would have been better hot (I'm sure) but the cheese was no longer melted and the toppings had gotten cold. We paid the full price for our meal and left with a "come again soon!" from the very friendly hostess. Will we come again soon? Not likely. But we might give it another chance again in a few months after they work out all the kinks. Again, very disappointing service, but decent food.

Not New York style and not Chicago style, this is different pizza. I don't know what "coal-fired" matters for it, but it did make for a charred sort of crust. Not burnt, just different. Of the pizza choices, the one with the roasted cauliflower appealed. Meatless, which is maybe healthier. And why not? It arrived quickly and cut into squares, not slices. Lots of toppings and it had an excellent texture and an excellent taste. Quite different and a quick sprinkle of the hot pepper seeds really kicked it up. Awesome tunes, but then, I really like the '80s. You kids and your new-fangled "music" might not appreciate these classics.

First time here last week with a gf. We went about 15 min after opening and a good amount of people were already at the bar and seated so must be a good place! Waitress took alittle while to get out order. We ordered the white pizza with Italian long hots. Delicious! But beware!!! Very hot burned the roof of my mouth but that's bc it looked and smelled so good I couldn't wait! Service was mehhhhh. Waitress took a while to check on us and was no where to be found or waived down to pay for our meal. I guess a manager walking around and checking up on people likes to engage w patrons about what they ordered which is nice. Will def come back to this place if I'm around again but I'm going to try thier pike creek location.

OK, I know there are a lot of people that love this place and I get it, but I'm not one of the "Anthony Lover's". Not that I'm a hater either but I just don't see what's the big deal. Pizza is ok and wings and things are good but does not live up to some of the reviews I've read and the food I've eaten there several times. I've really gone back this many times because 1) my wife seems to enjoy it there, and 2) because there is not a lot to chose from while shopping in the immediate area when you get hungry . They brag about "well done" and I've even asked for food well done that simply was not. Believe me as a Chef I know what well done is. Nice place small cozy and plenty of TV action. Staff Is very attentive and prices are in line with the food and ambience. Parking is good and place is always clean. I just think there are way too many "Great" and I do mean "Great" places to get pizza and wings in a similar setting in the surrounding area.

Definitely the place to go if you want "well done" pizza. You can't go wrong with the traditional, but their white pizza is even better in my opinion. The coal oven gives it a nice crispy crust, but it's not burned. Parts of the crust may be a little on the burnt side, but I think this gives it character. Be sure to try the coal oven roasted wings. They are delicious. They're a little crispy on the outside, but so juicy on the inside. I don't eat pizza as often as I used to, but when I'm in the mood, better believe I'm going to Anthony's. I'm definitely a fan of coal oven pizza.

Definitely not your typical pizza place. They specialize in wood oven thin crust pizza as the name would suggest. It's also a little more upscale inside then a typical pizza place with a nice bar to watch the game or whatever else at. The service was fine . Nothing extraordinary. I've been hearing about Anthony's for a while on 94 WIP. Anthony Gargano is both doing advertisements and also the weekly "well done, well done" awards. Gargano also speaks highly of the food in general conversation. The food sounded really good. Some of our family from southern Delaware were coming up and wanted "good" pizza. This place did not disappoint. The chicken wings (not buffalo style) were perfectly cooked and possibly some of the best straight-up wings that I have ever eaten. Definitely top 5. The pork ribs with vinegar peppers were superb. The meat was falling off of the bone and the peppers were hot, but also super tasty. We had a plain "well done" pizza and it was absolutely top 5 all time plain pizza. No joke! The sauce is defiantly the high point, but the well done coal-fired crust was something very special as well. The bottom line is... You should go here if you dig good Italian style wings, ribs, and fantastic pizza. Next time I am going to try the meatballs!

I wish there were separate ratings for this place in particular. So I had to give my average above but will divide my review: Pizza Rating: It is damn good, solid, kick ass pizza. And in Delaware, this is an extreme rarity. The standard traditional pizza is simply excellent. Ask for some fresh cut basil on the side to put on the top - just damn good pizza. Looking for something different - try the eggplant marino or the roasted cauliflower. Yep, cauliflower, which I am usually not a fan of. But this is the exception. Good when it comes to the table, good when you get home a few hours later and good right from the frig the next morning. Atmosphere Rating: It's noisy. It's crowded. You need to speak up if it is in the evening, especially on the weekends. But aren't all good places like this? Pricing Rating: Yep, it's on the expensive side. But please remember that you get what you pay for. They are not spending their money on china plates and soda fountains. They are spending it on an 800° oven, fresh ingredients and a small but well diversed menu. If you want cheap pizza, this is not the place to go.

Honestly, if I had to describe it in one motion, it would be a shrug. The wings were charred and covered in onions, and the roasted cauliflower pizza tasted like a burnt garlic bread. After waiting for 20 minutes, my family got to see in a small corner by the window. The atmosphere was loud and the entire stay there was a little screaming girl. If you want to go there sure, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Delaware generally lacks good pizza, but Anthony's is a good bet if you're looking for something slightly different. The coal fired style definitely adds a little extra something to the pie and helps the crust taste better than the crappy stuff you get at most pizza joints around here.

So there are 2 different things to be reviewed here...the pizza/food and the atmosphere. Food/Pizza - the name of this place has the words "coal fired" in it...so you have to expect that the pizza is going to be well done. It is a little black in some spots but it's thin and crispy/crunchy. On every pizza they put thinly sliced pieces of roma tomatoes that just adds a little "something" to it and the sauce is wonderful. Their toppings are different which is a nice change. It is a little expensive...like $20 give or take for a large. We also got the family house salad. The dressing was delicious and it had olives and beans in it...BUT...it was all the ends/stumps of the lettuce!!! You should be ashamed to serve a salad full of the ends of the lettuce. I would give it a try again and hope for better Atmosphere - this place is so unbelievably loud. The music is blaring and the acoustics are not good either. I could barely hear the person sitting right next to me so to have a conversation you have to shout. We asked them to turn the music down and nothing happened. Not quite sure what kind of scene they are trying to create but the current one does not work. So if you want to have a meal where you actually can have a conversation with the people you are with, this is not the place to go. I would eat here again, but not at this location.

Really good salad and one of the better pizzas I've had in a while. On the other hand I ordered a bottle of Malbec and it had a small piece of cork in it. This prompted Abby our bartender to dump the half glass of wine in the sink for some reason and then not replace it. She said she would give me the wine she tossed then proceeded not to. Thanks Abby!

I'm a sucker for ricotta on pizza and this place knocks it out of the park! I've been twice now and both times I ordered the chicken wings, which were crispy and served with delicious onions and decent focaccia bread. The flavor of the wings is not "hot wing" but rotisserie and they are so good. Both times I also ordered the pizza with meatballs and ricotta, but the second time was with hots and sausage on it as well. The meatballs... oh, the meatballs are so soft and delicious! I can see myself driving there for them specifically The ricotta is the creamiest ricotta I have ever had. It pairs so well on the pizza. OMG, it's fantastic! The crust is slightly burnt, but chewy. We get pizza in New Haven, CT whenever in the area and while this isn't as thin as that style it is the closest I have found in this area.

We generally stay away from chains (yes, I'm a proud food snob) but had been wanting to try this place for a while- had a craving for pizza and wanted something new. We ate in with another couple. The decor is all black and white movie pictures and posters with an Italian theme (will the Jersey Shore kids have their headshots on the walls here soon?) that was how I'll describe as tastefully campy. Our server was friendly. I ordered an unsweetened iced tea and she brought me a bottle of unsweet tea- not the cup I was looking for. Sorta similar when you order Coke at some Asian places- they bring you a can of soda and a cup of ice. Thought this was weird, but whatev. We got the broccoli rabe and some meatballs as appetizers. The sausage with the greens was spicy and good. The meatballs were very soft and tasty (soft is how I like 'em!). They were served with a dollop of ricotta cheese. We got a large pizza with kalamata olives, proscuitto, and italian long hots. The pizza was amazing- hot, oozing with flavor, and was well done, as our waitress had warned us. Incredible taste with a thin crust. Nice and crunchy. Would definitely go back for pizza, or pick it up and take it home. I'm a fan!

Do you like your pizza well done and overflowing with delicious high quality toppings? If you said yes then you should be eating at Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza. In the world of "gourmet pizza," Anthony's ranks very high. While still a fairly new restaurant on the Delaware scene, they boast 2 locations in the small state. The first being in the Brandywine Market Square on Concord Pike and the newer location in Pike Creek. They use a Coal Fired oven to cook their pizzas, as well of a lot of their other menu items. The flavor this adds is amazing. I had the pleasure of dining at the Concord Pike location and must say the experience was highly enjoyable. The atmosphere is not what you would expect of a pizza joint, its kind of dark and intimate. The walls are adorned with flat screen televisions and pictures of everyone from Don Corleone to John Lennon. There is always good music playing overhead that's just loud enough that you can enjoy it, but soft enough as to not ruin your conversation. The staff at Anthony's is great. They always take great care of me when I am there. They are friendly, attentive, and efficient. Lets talk about Pizza. As I was once told by the Manager there, they believe in light sauce, light cheese, and heavy on the toppings. That and the fact that it is WELL done paints a great picture of what to expect. The specialty pies thy have there are really good and probably not what you are used to. Most recently I had the Broccoli Rabe and Sausage Pizza, and the Caramelized Cauliflower Pizza(pictured). Lets start with the Broccoli Rabe and sausage. This is one of my favorite pies at Anthony's. It is a great mixture of all the ingredients. The tomato sauce is nice. It's not too thick but also not watery. There is a delicious layer of melted cheese, and plenty of Broccoli Rabe and italian sausage on top. The bitterness of the greens works really well with the mild sweetness of the sausage. The Caramelized Cauliflower Pizza is not a standard menu item at Anthony's. I believe it is only currently available at the Concord Pike Location. I gotta tell you, RUN to Anthony's and try this pizza immediately! I have never enjoyed eating cauliflower this much. This is a pizza that does not have tomato sauce on it. The texture and flavor of the cauliflower is really surprising and the roasted garlic that is on it is to die for. I really hope this pie makes it on the permanent menu because everyone should get to try this pizza. We also were able to try their Chicken Wings today. These, like the pizza, are cooked in the coal-fired oven. Once again, Anthony's did not disappoint. They were great. You wont find these wings covered in sauce, nor will they burn your mouth. They taste like they are drizzled with olive oil and rosemary and cooked in the oven until the outside is crispy and flavorful. As great as everything was at Anthony's, I will say there are 2 things that are a little disappointing. The first is the price. These pizzas are a little on the expensive side. A large specialty pie is going to run you just over $19. A large plain cheese pie is about $14. (A Large pie is roughly 16") The other is beverages. While they do have a full bar, and some nights the have a special where a bottle or Peroni is only $1.50, you might only want a soda or iced tea. They do not have fountain drinks here. If you order a coke, you get a small bottle of coke and a glass of ice. If you order an iced tea, you get a bottle of Gold Peak tea and a glass of ice. Refills are not free. This, on top of the pies can add up pretty quick so be mindful. Lastly, it's not really a place I would take my kids to. At least not yet. This is absolutely no fault of Anthony's, I just think my kids would prefer a pizza place with a large mouse and a ball pit. All in all, I think Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza has some truly amazing pies, excellent wings, and an awesome group of people working there. While they may not be my choice for family night out, I can definitely see taking my wife here for a date night, or meeting up with some friends and splitting a pie.

Tried Anthonys today for lunch and was impressed. I also stay away from chains but after hearing 610 WIP rave about there pizzas for the past week I had to try them out. Drinks do come in bottles, which is weird and pricey if you are a big soda drinker ($2.50/bottle). We started with the salad with gorgonzola cheese. It was really fresh with just the right amount of dressing. The small salad was big enough to split. We then had a pepperoni pizza. It was great, possibly top 10 in my book. The crust was crunchy and light. The pizza itself had a nice crunch to it as it is cooked in a high temp oven. Give this place a try!

Our intention to eat here was the result of wanting to try, in this region of Delaware, baked pizza that wasn't prepared in the conventional commercial grade, silver oven. Since Buckley's Tavern tends to be where everyone seems to flock over the weekends, this place was the only alternative that had been open until 11pm with available seating. It had the typical franchise flare- large and open tables that seemed bolted to the ground, pre-recorded tunes in a moderate decibel, front and back of the house staff that included our waitress who looked exhausted and irritated. Overall, the food was tainted with impersonal, unceremonious preparation. Our pizza had remnants of burnt spots from the coal fire that tasted authentic, however the topping choices were sparse and never offered anything beyond the usual onion, mushrooms, tomato and pepperoni deal. Maybe their supplier was the Domino's across the street. The price reflects the dim lighting, waiter service and the careful placement of classic celebrity pictures on the walls. They were pleasing to look at with Marilyn Monroe's pouty, teasing smile and Carey Grant who overlooked the dining patrons at table #5, but I was more interested in the food which, unfortunately, didn't make an impact. The sodas came in bottles, which was satisfactory, but nothing was on draft. Even the drink selection was a little bland. At this point I've manually changed my initial three star to two which better represents this place. If you appreciate a good tastey pie you'd come to find in NYC or a quaint little town with a burley man that tends to a brick oven in the back, this place is not for you. It leaves the imagination, and our appetities, yearning for more.

The menu is Pizza and that's about it. They have wings and gave us a couple to sample but they were pretty darn dry and like the Pizza coal tasting. The Pizza was okay if you like that burnt kind of taste/feel. Sodas are bottle and $2.60 each! They haven't heard of a fountain?

My husband and I wandered in to Anthony's tonight on a whim - we just wanted something to eat while shopping. I had no idea what to expect, but right away, everyone was very friendly. We were promptly seated and our waiter asked if we had ever been to Anthony's. When we said no, he explained their shtick and mentioned that they have bottled sodas. The sodas are priced pretty high considering that they are bottled, but I'm more than used to overpriced restaurant drinks - I just got a water. However, although we didn't order any, the alcoholic drinks seemed reasonably priced, and they had a few tasty-sounding cocktails. Their menu has pizza "well done" (meaning charred spots from the charcoal, which i like) and a couple of other things like wings, some sandwiches, calzones, salad, and some pasta, but clearly pizza takes center stage. We ordered a 16" Traditional pie with Pepperoni, and then the waiter said that he put in an order for a little sample of their wings since we were new to the restaurant, which I thought was great customer service! The wings were well seasoned and charred outside, but hot and juicy inside - they were really nice. While we waited, I got a look at the many photos and portraits on the walls in neat black frames. There are a lot of classic photos of icons like John Lennon, Marilyn Monroe and Elvis, along with some signed athlete photos and the like. The music that was playing was also pleasant compared to many restaurants I've been to lately. They seem to have a knack for the "classic and classy" atmosphere without being stuffy. To my surprise, the women's bathroom had framed pictures of Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, Elvis, George Clooney, etc even in the stalls. I definitely had a laugh. My husband told me the men's bathroom had similar photos as well, and mentioned that some of the photos made him think the place was definitely geared more towards adults than families (eg: suggestive photos, obvious nipples, etc). I just thought it was funny that there was a portrait of Johnny Depp over the baby-changing table. :P When the pizza came, we were pleasantly surprised yet again, because we could see that the extra $2.75 for pepperoni on the pizza was well-spent. As the waiter said, "we don't mess around with our toppings". There was quite a lot of pepperoni on the pizza! In one bite, I even bit through a stack of 4 pepperonis. However, this was a step above the typical pepperoni pizza with the fresh basil, small chunks of tomatoes, and the delicious cheese and sauce. The pizza was fairly thin and the bottom was crisp with a crispy blackened crust as well. Overall I was very pleased with our meal and my experience. They don't have a ton of things on their menu but they stay true to what they do really well - the pizza. My only suggestion would to possibly shave off $1-2 from the pizza prices. At least I know the money is going to tasty ingredients!
