We had resisted coming to this local restaurant due to the reviews here, and the lack of curb appeal. BUT, wow were we pleasantly surprised this morning when we decided to try breakfast. It was delicious!!! Eggs cooked perfectly, bacon crisped just right and apple pancakes with an apple syrup to die for. We'll definitely be back.

Sadly this place has slipped in recent years, it seems as if they just dont care. A recent breakfast stop confirmed this. The food was edible, but not great, service was hurried and confused. We had 4 waitresses come to take our order after our original waitress already did. I ordered scrambled eggs and I got an over-cooked dried out mass of egg loaf. Nasty. WHY CANT DINERS PRODUCE PROPERLY PREPARED SCRAMBLED EGGS!!!?? The home fries were scalloped potatoes with no seasoning or flavor. I've really lost faith in this place and dont think we'll be back.

The diner is old services beyond poor the regular old customers died waiting for service when you finally get a waitress to come over and take your order the food may or may not arrive hot or what you ordered the old wait staff is too busy complaining about management to care about new customers last thing you want to do is go to a restaurant or diner where the old worn-out carpet and worn out listening to worn out tired waitresses talk about how bad management is they should have been closed a long time ago never go there again

This was once a good diner where you could get a decent meal at a reasonable price. Unfortunately that has changed: the quality of the food has gone down and the prices have gone up. Breakfast is still reasonable though.

Usually safe for breakfast - soup's are decent for lunch. But the place looks like hell inside & out. The carpets are held down with silver duct tape & I'm sure it hasn't been painted inside since 1969. The outside is dingy with overgrown shrubs & cigarette butts scattered about. Too bad - I remember when this was a popular dinner place.

I'm not crazy about this place. It's a local landmark that farmers and other early-risers have been coming to for decades, but I think it's well past its prime. Food and service are just "meh" and both times I've been here I haven't paid, so I think that says a lot... That is, I wouldn't pay to eat here, and the times I have eaten here I've been glad I didn't pay.

The Ches Del (sardonically pronounced "chez d'elle" by knowing locals to give this name a francophonic twist) is just the kind of diner that Jim Rockford would have frequented in 1974 - and, apparently, management is doing their best to keep it that way. The decor is worn and outdated, and the culinary experience is punctuated by the likes of soggy fries and droopy sandwiches. Once upon a time, some friends and I hit the jackpot and had a waitress with only a few teeth who was comfortable enough with this fact to draw a one-toothed smiley face on the check. The fact that this restaurant is the only one for miles and is located near some major intersections is probably its main saving grace.

This is your usual below-average diner which is above average for Delaware (oh, I'm so confused now by that math...does that make it average? Gotta think on that one.) The place looks like it just grew and grew and grew out of a buried original steel and glass diner car, and if you look at the location, right off the St. Georges Bridge on 13, it probably was one of the only places to eat if you were venturing into the wilds of Lower Slower before Route 1 was built and the place got civilized. HOWEVER....I have to tell you a secret. The pies are out of this world. My sister went there, meeting up with an old high school flame after thirty or so years and he picked THIS place (well, they were both from out of town, in fact, out of state, so what did THEY know?) She came back with a slice of a coconut custard pie and we both agreed, best we'd ever had and the crust was flaky and just delicious. So now you know what to get here. Anything else, you are ON YOUR OWN.
