Striper Bites is by far my favorite spot at the beach for lunch or dinner. I have never had a bad meal there. The atmosphere is great. The service has always been good. It is the only place I have found besides Dogfish Head themselves that serve the Dogfish Head Lawnmower draft which is my favorite summer ale.

This is a great local restaurant. Food and service have both been very consistent through all our visits to Henlopen and Lewes. Try the blackened rockfish, especially on the house salad. Good beer selections, and the sports bar element is not obtrusive. Have no idea where the 2 star reviewers were coming from.

Lunch, Lunch, Lunch. We head for Striper Bites to get a tasty mid-day meal, especially when we pick up the out-of-towners from the ferry. You can always count on delicious food, nice portions, and friendly staff to provide great service. All the lunches are excellent! Their menu offers a wide range of choices. We head there after season is over for their half-price burger night. And their beer selection ROCKS!

We visited this place on our last night in Lewes. We were a large group of nine and we waited about an hour for our table. To be expected on a Friday night. I am not a big fish/seafood eater, but was with a group who are and they chose this place. The meal was very uneven. I had the burger with bacon and cheese. It was ok. I ordered medium and it was cooked a little past medium but not unpleasantly so. The French fries were very underwhelming. My mister had the maki roll as his appetizer and it wasn't great. It was a tempura roll and he said it lacked the genuine tempura texture. It was more like fish and chips. For his meal he ordered the fish tacos and those too were disappointing. First, there were only two. Most places serve three tacos. Also, they were served in flour tortillas. They are better on corn. Another friend had wings (not sure why she would order wings at a place like this) but she said they were not good. Again, not really surprising. Another person had the fried flounder sandwich and she said it wasn't anything special. The only person who really enjoyed his meal was my friend who ordered the crab bisque and the lobster mac and cheese. He said his food was excellent. Overall, it seems a little hit and miss. We may give it another chance. Not sure.

Kitchen open a little later then rest of Lewes. Flexible chef, wife has gluten sensitivity. They adjusted a chicken and crab recipe. The food was outstanding. I had the fish taco, it was very good. Service was great and bartender was outstanding. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Went here for lunch today and expected the decor to match the food and service. The menu was limited but that didn't deter us from staying. The waitress was friendly and we placed our orders. The food took forever to come out and the presentation was weak. My boyfriend had the pork sandwich which he said was good but the fish tacos were subpar for the price. The service fell off after a while and by the end we were just ready to leave. Expected more but sometimes the food doesn't match the decor.

This is a hard review to write because the good things were really good and the bad things were really bad. I split it in the middle. We were vacationing at the beach and several of the locals recommended this restaurant. They don't take reservations. We were told to go early because the wait time could be up to 2 hours. My husband and I had been with family 24/7 and this was our date night. When we arrived there was no one waiting but they said it would be a 20 minute wait. We saw empty tables inside the restaurant and outside also so we weren't sure why we had to wait. After a bit of time they came and said they could seat us if we would sit at a high top. We said sure. BIG MISTAKE. The table was TINY. It was about 2 feet wide. Trying to fit our drinks, bread, bread plates, and silverware on the table was tight. We had no idea how our entrees would fit. Not only was the table tiny, but we were right next to the small crowded bar. They had 2 huge TV's and female soccer was on. The TV's and people were extremely loud-especially when the match against the US and China came on. That was one side of the table. The other side of the table was two steps away from the bathrooms. Not. Even. Kidding. So there we were in the middle of loud soccer games and fans and the people coming in and out of the bathrooms. UGH!!! After checking out the menu I ordered the Lobster Mac and Cheese. My husband ordered a broiled seafood platter. We ordered the Bisque as a starter. The bisque was very good. We both enjoyed it. Then our entrees came. It was a tight fit on our table. Very tight. We asked for the bread holder, glasses, bread plates and our bisque bowl to be removed so we had room for our entrees. The Lobster Mac and Cheese ($28) was good. There was a lot of lobster in it. We both enjoyed it. It was a big portion so I took some of it to go. My husband's dinner was good. The crab cake was almost all crab. There was no filler. The shrimp tasted like it might have been frozen and not fresh. The green beans were undercooked. The scallops were cooked perfectly. We opted not to have dessert. We had eaten some rich food and didn't want anything else rich. As we were leaving we again saw empty tables inside and outside. There were 2 couples waiting to be seated. We are still not sure why we were seated where we were. It really ruined our date night. If we had wanted a rowdy bar/sports fans we would have eaten at a bar. We were just wanting a nice night out. And being seated next to the bathroom is just inexcusable. As I stated earlier-some things were really good and the rest were really bad. I'm not sure we would go back.

Sat a the bar with Garrett. My friend and I split two entrees, nor'shore and shrimp and grits. Grits were to die for! Lump crab cakes fell apart in your mouth. Love the decor, staff was pleasant. Second time dining here and will definitely be returning.

Very cute little seafood restaurant! Loved everything I ate here starting with the crab bisque and ending with the sushi. My mom had the scallops and shrimp and she thought they were delicious! Loved the atmosphere here, it was very laid back while still serving quality seafood. This was hands down our favorite restaurant in Lewes!

Worrrrrst guac I've ever had. I mean, NO lemon juice, spice, OR salt. The Hostesses and Bartender were as snobby and focused only on rich tourists, as expected. Beer was good, though.

I really wanted to like this cute place in downtown Lewes! Unfortunately the food was just OK and service quite bad. Took about 20 minutes just to order a drink while waiting for a table. Drinks were decent. We were seated in the loud bar. About 20 minutes later we placed our order for the tuna appetizer, calamari, and shared entree of the crab cake, scallop, and shrimp. Appetizers were decent, crab cake good, shrimp and scallops below average, potatoes bland, green beans almost raw. Server never returned so we could order a glass of wine with dinner. I don't think I would return - just not a positive experience overall.

Stopped in on our way home to PA from a few beach days in DE, and wanted one last seafood dinner before heading home. Striper Bites didn't disappoint! The crab bisque was creamy and full of lump crab meat. It came immediately after we ordered, which was great. Service was slow for our actual lunches, but the waiter was completely apologetic and took a percentage off of our check and gave complimentary drinks. When our crab cake and lobster rolls arrived we thought it was worth the wait! I'd highly recommend this great restaurant.

  • Christopher S.

Overall great dinner. Almost 5 stars as decor is great, prices are fair and most of the food was awesome. Service was good but not stellar, the sushi I tried since this is a seafood place but that was only average and there was one entree we ordered they were out of. Just being a little bit picky but any one of those easily could have changed and i would have given it a 5. Overall the quality of restaurants at the beach aren't prime, so this is very good and beats out 90% of everything else I've tried within 45 min drive.

Located next to the Dogfish Head Inn, the service was fast and friendly, the food quality was high and the beer cold.

The food is great and the atmosphere is the same. This place is perfect for Lewes. It's also cool just to meet friends and have a few drinks. The sushi app is a must!

A great place - Nachos were yummy - you can ask for extra salsa! Bloody Mary was very good! Sat at the bar and met Matt the owner - nice guy. Go in for an Allagash white beer fro Maine! Great time!

Not very good seafood. Nothing has knocked my socks off. I feel like this is more of a social, happy hour place that keeps them afloat.

During our recent visit to the quaint town of Lewes we were looking for a spot for dinner and settled on Striper Bites after consulting YELP. What a tough choice, Lewes seems to have several worthy stops. Striper Bites proved a pleasant experience however, and I'm glad its there for repeat future visits. We arrived early for dinner, around 5:15, and the place was dead. I think there were two other tables seated when we came in. We sat down and were greeted by a young, happy waitress who was all smiles. We ordered some drinks which leads to my only negative comment, though minor and nit-picky. We both ordered Caiprinihas, happy to see them included in the drink menu. It may have been bartender specific, and we've only been to Striper Bites this one time, but our Caiprinihas were served VERY sweet, and with only one slice of lime (lacking.) However we asked for extra limes and the waitress was happy and quick to deliver. We ordered bacon-wrapped scallops and a bowl of Crab Bisque to share for appetizers. We were also served complimentary bread with olive oil. The bread was good on its own, but divine with the Bisque. We discovered this a few bites too late so the waitress brought more bread upon request. For our entrees we chose the Seafood Pappardelle and a sample platter called the Nor'easter. Both of the meals were above average: the sauce in the pappardelle was awesome and the crab cake was the standout for the Nor'easter dish. It's not the cheapest dinner in Lewes, but reasonable for the quality of food and we both ended dinner too full for dessert. Restaurant is roomy and the decor is fun, shore themed. Thanks again YELP for another good find.

Signature salad was very tasty, but I got sick after eating it. Had Tuna added to it. Not sure how to rate this...

I've made regular visits to Striper Bites for years now. I think the essential thing to understand is how vastly different the lunch and dinner menus (and thus, experiences) are. That's not a complaint, by the way. At lunch, it's essentially pub food -- I love their crab cakes, but the burgers and salads are also terrific. At dinner, you'll fine a more glamorous (and, of course, expensive) menu with seared tuna and many other entrees that I wish would be available throughout the day.

Very good food and drinks. A hidden gem in Lewes Delaware. Give them a try and you will not be disappointed!

Delicious perfect burger. The side salad ingredients were far from most garden boring salads. Lobster roll was good/ I just had no idea what a lobster roll was . It's cold like tuna or chicken salad- not what I imagined . My bad though. Still awesome food & great atmosphere!!

I love this place - always fresh, creative cuisine on the menu. The lobster roll reminded me of my trip to Cape Cod - the drinks are delicious and I can't wait to try the new menu with Sushi!

Finally came after hearing good things about the restaurant. But I leave never to return. First, there is a small parking lot in the back. This is a plus since parking can be a challenge on summer weekends. Now for the food, we ordered nachos for appetizer. It was very hot but nothing but jar salsa and cheese and sour cream on top, and we did order an add of chicken for a dollar more but I think we found micro cubes and all of five pieces. The order of crab cake sandwich seemed tired and lacked freshness as I had a crab cake sandwich from the surfing crab restaurant the night before. If you want a good crab cake sandwich, this is not it. It seemed all but mediocre to me and lastly the lovely wait staff asked how everything was but her eyes were blank. I said the food seemed a mediocre and she apologized but I don't know why she asked. I have eaten at the Big fish grill and some other restaurants that have management go around to make sure the dining experience was good. Now I see why...

A mid-upper scale somewhat local hang-out with great food and drinks. Friendly service where the waitresses ad bartenders clearly knew the locals. Some original martinis and very tasty food for solid prices. Parmesan crusted lobster tails were good but the standout was the special, not listed on the regular menu. Basically a Cioppino, mixed seafood, mostly shellfish, in a tomato broth. We opted to have it NOT served over rice and it was worth it. Use the crusty bread at the table to sop up the broth....yum! Plenty of food in that dish and the broth, almost a warm spicy gazpacho style but thinner. Or sort of like a heavier Maryland style crab soup. Fantastic! We skipped dinner and headed out to Hopkins instead.

I can see the appeal of wanting to dine at this restaurant. The location and atmosphere are great, however that's where the appeal ended. The service was okay (nothing negative). My biggest quarrel with this place was that I paid $28 for lobster mac and cheese and got a dish that was completely overpowered by bacon. Now don't get me wrong: I love bacon just as much as the rest of you, but if I'm paying that price for a LOBSTER dish I want to taste the lobster! It was a nice one time experience, but I probably will not go back.

We were in Lewes for a long weekend recently and enjoyed Striper Bites so much for dinner the first evening, that we ate there again the next two nights. Crab Bisque is a must. Great cocktails, too. We loved the casual vibe, the good service, and all the food was really very good. We'll be back!

Lovely. Was staying overnight in Lewes, so walked around looking for a lunch spot for the following day. Popped in and had a beer from their impressive craft list. Menu looked good and service was terrific and friendly, so we went the following day. Seated and served quickly despite a crowded holiday lunch crowd. Crab bisque was delicious and had a nice spice to it, although could have used a little more crab (that's a personal preference, though). Lobster roll was delicious and perfect. No extra garbage, just quality and the way it should be. Bloody Mary was great, couldn't get mussels with lunch which was a bummer but just means we'll have to go back. Excellent spot, really a fan. Well done!

I would probably give this place 4.5 if possible, they were great in just about every way. We came for dinner and were seated quickly. Our Server was friendly and explained the specials to us and we ordered drinks and appetizers as well as a kids meal for my son. My wife ordered the crab bisque which was rich and creamy with real crab garnish on top. My Mom's friend got the mussels which I tried that came with a garlic butter broth and were perfectly cooked. I was able to get the last bottle of Lot #6 they had which was tasty and went with my Nor'Easter entree which had shrimp, scallops and 4oz crab cake which had hardly any filler and the meal included garlic mash and sauteed green beans.I tried my son's Mahi Mahi and my Mom's lobster roll which was delicious with dijon mayo. I would recommend this place since the food was cooked very well and everything tasted fresh. They are reasonable and the portion size is good.

Our annual rainy-day trek to Lewes always ends with a trip to one of the many little places that dot this quaint, quiet little town. Having tested out the Half Full and Kindle waters in previous years, our next step was to stop by Striper Bites for lunch. Let me just preface this by saying this is the type of bar I could get lost in one too many pints of 60 MIn while chatting with the bartender while it pours outside. Cozy, nautical themed ambiance, with a menu featuring comfort foods like burgers and fish tacos. I enjoyed the fish tacos which were gone as quickly as they arrived on our table. The fried fish was delicious and flaky, and didn't need much fixin' up to be enjoyed. Service was great. The blond gentleman behind the bar was super friendly and chatted with us while we made up our mind. Definitely wish I had more time to enjoy this bar, makes me look forward to our next trip down to Lewes.

Small place with outdoor seating in the front of the restaurant. Bar area with TVs they have a light menu prior to dinner service that has some good nuggets on it! Dinner they have a variety of Delicious items from salads, to burgers, and some seafood! I had the shrimp and grits.....wow amazing! We also had a bowl of crab soup it was okay, the flavor profile was their but it was lacking crab meat! Great place to dinner Parking stinks but it's worth looking for a space and enjoying a meal with friends!

We are locals and have been to Striper Bites often and have always had an excellent meal whether it was lunch, dinner or burger night. Sadly, last night's burger night was a huge disappointment. We always look forward to their burgers and they've always been about the best in town. However, our medium rare burgers arrived looking like hockey pucks and were dry and tasteless. The lettuce on the side was pitiful, one piece of light green iceberg and even the blue cheese wasn't up to par. The cole slaw looked and tasted totally different. We should have sent the burgers back (as the lady across from us did) but since we were with friends we didn't want to bother anyone or take the time. Burger nights are coming to an close for the season but we'll think twice next year before going back to Striper Bites.

Great place. Nicely prepared food in a semi casual atmosphere. Great place to go coming off the beach but not wanting run of the mill type places in the area. Very friendly service and family friendly.

I had lunch here with a few others, everyone had the lobster roll. Delicious, lots of lobster meat and not full of fillers. Great beer selection and reasonably priced. Sat outside, beware of bugs. Very nice experience overall.

Being right on the water in a gorgeous setting is a great start but it's just the beginning. We ate there twice a lunch and dinner while in the area and the food was superb both times. The owner is on premises and it shows outstanding food and drink.... don't miss the Striper Bites Club...

While this may be a fun place to hang out, the quality of the food varies. We enjoyed dinner here last Fall and came back to try it again. This time the food preparation was disappointing. The crab soup was too heavy and had very little taste. Mussels were fresh, broth was salty. The house salad was bland and the grilled shrimp toppers were rubbery and tasteless. The lobster roll came with white bread, lobster meat was OK. The wine list is extensive enough and we enjoyed the Riesling. Service was cheerful and attentive. The music on a Thursday night was nice, but a little loud inside. Next time we will try one of the other town restaurants.

Everything was really good. From start to finish was good tasting. Tuna seared like at a Japanese restaurant and a lobster roll plus bacon for Casper gets 5 stars

Food was pretty good. Tried crab bisque, crab cake sandwich, lobster roll, burger, blt and kids had the chicken fingers. Everyone enjoyed their food. Lobster roll was generous portion. Kids enjoyed their meals. And we walked around the area after. Service wa soso. But environ was cool. Walk into the main street area for ice cream or some other sweets. Enjoyable place.

THE GOOD.....$8 for a 22 oz bottle of Ranger IPA, their house salad. THE BAD.....clam chowder was way too salty and had no clams or potatoes and the menu had no vegan entree options for the vegans in our group. We asked if we could just get a side of vegetables (menu item) and some pasta but the request was denied so no entrees were ordered by the vegans. I believe there's a difference between ordering complicated things that aren't on the menu but pasta and some vegetables seemed liked a reasonable request. Their choice not to accommodate and our choice not to return.

We have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. Took our son and his awesome girlfriend here for dinner last nite. It is 4th of July weekend and the place was very busy. We put our name down and they call our cell within 30 minutes. We had a great table next to the window and the a/c was nice and cool. Now for the food- Seafood Pappardelle, amazing- loaded with seafood, shrimp and grits- yum, seafood medley with a wonderful crabcake, and fish tacos- great. The drinks are great, and oh, you can get a Rolling Rock for $2.50 ANYTIME. The waiter has been here for a few years and he is very good and nice and friendly. A great little spot in Lewes.

Meh. I had the lobster roll. It was just meh. Edible, though, but nothing like the luscious chunks of lobster meat I'm used to getting in Maine. If you can't shell out big delicious chunks of lobster meat, don't put it in your menu! I should have known better than to order it, though. My bad. Meh.

Nothing special. The food was average. This was our first visit to Striper Bites. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated and it wasn't worth the wait. The restaurant was over run with children. They were everywhere, walking around unaccompanied, playing in the bathrooms. We are a couple with no children, so we aren't happy to enter a restaurant where adults are out numbered. Our waitress was ok. She was very uninterested in being helpful or offering insight into the menu. I ordered the house salad with a crab cake. The crab cake is offered fried or broiled. I asked the waitress which she preferred and she said "it depends on if you feel like fried food or broiled." I opted for the broiled and she said "I would have ordered the fried, it has been one of those days." My husband asked her opinion on the signature club or flounder sandwich. She said "it depends if you like bread." Sigh. The house salad was ok. It was fresh and tasty with pine nuts and artichokes. The dressing was a vinaigrette with hints of rosemary. I ordered it with a crab cake. The crab cake was average. Nothing special. My husband had the flounder sandwich and he said it wasn't fresh and was over cooked and dry. Another reviewer said the food here tasted like airport food. On our way home I asked my husband who travels a lot if he thought it tasted like airport food. He said it depended on the airport. Don't waste your time going here, unless you are vacationing with a bunch of kids and are looking for somewhere other than a chain to go for dinner.

This review is based on multiple visits over the past year or two, although when we stopped in today, we ended up leaving without being seated because they have an extremely limited menu between the hours of 3:30 and 5:00, and we wanted dinner, not just appetizers. That was pretty disappointing, but at least the hostess warned us before seating us. On prior visits, though, we've had delicious lunches and dinners. I love their outdoor seating area, and that's where we always sit if the weather is amenable. The service is always friendly and fast, even in the outdoor seating area.

Uninspired airport food. Tuna starter was okay. Tuna was great but the sauce and seaweed salad were over salted. Ordered the "popular" striper bites sandwich and fish tacos. Blackened fish on the fish was beyond overcooked...consistency was like overcooked chicken. Tacos tasted like fish sticks on flour tortillas served with a side of salsa and cup of sour cream. Pass.

Came here for a friend's birthday dinner while staying in Lewes, and sat in the back booth within the bar area, which made it extremely too loud for conversation (Captain Obvious FYI: if you're looking for more of a restaurant experience, don't sit in the bar area :-) The food itself? Mediocre. The crab dip was super cheesy and nothing special. The Nor'easter is what I chose and I found it to be somewhat bland (should have known with everything broiled). I also tried the seafood pappardelle which was not bad, but the tomato sauce was lacking flavor. Overall probably a great place better-than-normal bar food, but maybe stick to the more casual eats at this one.

Just stopped in to get out of the 90 degree heat and stepped into a nautical wonderland. The fish tacos were fresh and definitely the best I have ever had due in part to the lightly sweetened cole slaw and huge pile of fixings including cheese lettuce salsa and sour cream. My husband ordered the lobster roll which was packed with fresh lobster and very little filler. The roll was toasted to perfection. Definitely a seaside retreat worth visiting.

Great fresh seafood. Just what you are looking for on a trip to the coast. Buy a bottle of wine and try to land the cork on the shelf behind the bar to win a t-shirt. No pressure just the whole restaurant (and loved ones) staring at you. I was successful, will you be?

  • Susan S.

I had the rockfish, and it was great. Nice and meaty, cooked well, with a good balance of flavors. My husband said the scallops were fantastic, and the crab cake was about average. Service is slightly slow--they had trouble keeping our water glasses full--but really friendly. Also, you could talk in this place. No crazy loud music, no bad bands or open mics, just generally good acoustics for dinner conversation at a normal volume.

This was a great restaurant!!! The service was just OK, but if you like crab, get the Crab Bisque---it's made from scratch and the best I've ever had!!! The Lobster Roll was very good, authentic. The crab cake was eh...a lot of filler, Maryland Crab Cakes are more spicy and have more meat. But overall, I highly recommend this restaurant!!!

We decided to sit at the bar tonight. The bartender was on the ball - quick with a greeting, what can I get ya and would you like a menu. We ordered a drink and checked out the menu. When he brought us our drinks we even got the did ya see tonight's special board? Neither of us went for the special. I had the rock fish which was perfectly cooked ... Moist and flakey and delicious! My dad had the crab cake. He loved it. I tried a bite and wasn't nearly as impressed but my dad was very happy with it, so that's all that mattered to me.

Sat at the bar and had a beer and an appetizer. Pretty cool place. Great local beer selection, everyone friendly at the bar holding great conversation. Ordered the bruschetta which was extremely good. Can't say much about their other food since we didn't order a meal. Prices were a bit above their vibe/atmosphere but we were in Lewes (a vacation town) so everyone's prices rise way above their own vibe/atmosphere.

My family and I have been eating here for many years when we visit Lewes/Rehoboth Beach. We like the design and feel of the place and the food is excellent - although the entrees are a bit pricey and worth it. The blackened tuna pasta is delicious.

Food was great- scallops, amaretto crusted chicken, burger, all good. Mashed potatoes were decadent. As a group, we really enjoyed our meals. I ordered a mojito, though, and while the waitress sang it's praises, it was un-drinkable. It reeked of mint and was unsettlingly sweet, although there was no mint in the actual drink except for a garnish on top. However, my friend did like it, even though she usually hates mojitos. What this means? I have no idea. But the food was great! We sat on the enclosed patio, between the indoor and the outdoor seating, which we really liked!

Went on a weekday. They weren't that busy. Why they kept us waiting to take our drink order only leads me to believe they were short staffed. Service was friendly. Not fast. meh. I'd eat there if I was starving. Lemonade was WEAK. I am a lemonade-aholic. And if you're scooping up that powder and using tap water, I can FREAKIN' TELL! I asked the server for lemon wedges (hoping he got the message). My husband, son and I all ordered sandwiches. Son got grilled cheese which is ...well...grilled cheese. Problem with it is that I think it sat too long waiting for the other sandwiches. My sandwich: ham, brie, mustard grilled on ciabatta bread. Apples were missing. I said nothing because the sandwich was tasty without the apples. The french fries they serve are almost exactly like McDonalds french fries. They're good but not what you expect from a *bistro* serving gourmet sandwiches and upscale faire. Husband got a turkey BLT. No complaints. I wouldn't go there again. But it was just ok. I wasn't impressed. We were just hungry.

Service was my parties biggest complaint as it was slow. Food was ok. Muscles and shrimp stew were excellent. Lobster roll was ok, but fries from the freezer were still stuck together and only luke warm. Drink prices were high but wine and beer was reasonable. In the off season of post Labor Day either my expectation was too high or acceptable service to the staff do not mesh with my standard.

I was introduced to this charming restaurant a few years ago, and make it a point to return everytime I'm in the area, which is once a year for family vacation in Rehobeth Beach. The food has always been amazing, especially the salmon, the amaretto crusted chicken and crab cakes. Their wine cellar is pretty extensive, and you can look into it through the glass windows under your feet. The ambiance is great, and the restaurant is full of charm and history. We have always been pleased with the service, and I do ever so look forward to returning.

Excellent food for a good price. Good service with amazing interior and ambiance. Service was friendly and excellent. Rockfish, crab cakes and ahi tuna appetizer were all very good. We heard this place was not good when it first opened, but our experience was great.

The food wasn't really fantastic and we weren't planning to eat here but it was still spring and Striper Bites is one of the only restuarants open on Monday night in Lewes. Fun pub-like atmosphere, fascinating decorations (aquariums 15+ feet high above the bar), and decent food. Maybe slightly overpriced entrees but Monday night they had 1/2 off burgers so that reduced our bill. Decent beer selection. Acceptable service. BUT, if it had been a "busy" night I would have been disappointed that we had to wait for the table. I'm sure I would just go somewhere else if there was a 20+ minute wait.

My family of four went on a Wednesday night in mid-August close to 9pm. It was very busy. We waited a long time for a table and even longer for our food. I would rate 3 stars if it were only the food, but two things made our visit unwelcoming: 1) the hostess was flippant and 2) the food was very late but instead of the waitress letting us know, she sent the hostess to our table several times to let us know that "our food was on our way"....which it really wasn't. Now onto the food: I ordered mussles and 1/3 of the shells were closed (rotten, dead). Those should have been discarded and never cooked in the first place. When I told the waitress she told me to discard them. I was very surprised. The shrimp and grits and salads however were fresh and good.

The food was very good, we particularly liked the lobster roll. They have a kids menu. The atmosphere was lovely. However we had a group of 12 people and it took us three hours from the time we arrived at 5:30pm until our meal was complete and check was paid so we could go home. We had an appetizer, but no dessert. We made it a point to arrive early in the evening since we had a large group, but it was peak summer season. They do not accept reservations. I would go back again with a smaller group, but not with a large group.

Had dinner there on Wed., July 27, 2011 - -hostess was dressed like she just came off the beach with short shorts and flip flops and an attitude...we stood waiting for a table for 45 minoutes whith half the tables in the restaurant empty, then were seated and waited for a half hour to be served to find dinner overcooked.

Stopped in for lunch during a mid-week getaway to Lewes, DE. Sat on the breezy porch area. Prices were very reasonable for the quailty of the food. Ordered the Maine lobster roll with fries, a salad and an Allagash White pint to share between me and my partner. The lobster roll and salad were phenomenal - everything we were hoping for! Fries were mediocre. Allagash was delicious - have been wanting to try this brew, but can't get it in PA. Dining atmosphere was excellent, as was the service. Will definitely return next time we are in Lewes!

This is a typical Delaware place for good food. You have to realize that on the coast we are very casual and move more slowly than up north. Striper Bites has been one of our favorite local places for years. They do not take reservations, but then they don't have to because it's so popular, so be prepared to wait on a weekend. Food is great 99% of the time with a rare miss. Friendly waitstaff and they aim to please.

Striper Bites has become our favorite local restaurants. We go often, the food is always good and the service is excellent. Every once in a while it is even better. The last time we were there with friends I had the absolute best rockfish dinner I think I've ever had. Next time you're in Lewes, take yourself to Striper Bites for a great meal or just appetizers and a cocktail at the bar.

Their claim to fame is that Matthew McConaughey ate here once. Really? That's the best you can do? Like the star of such films as Dazed and Confused and Surfer Dude, Striper Bites is relaxed, easy-going, and could try harder. Like, a lot harder. The food is not good enough to justify the price- most of the fish tasted like it was flown in rather than caught locally, or recently, or even on this side of the globe. I didn't come to the beach to eat Chilean Sea Bass! There was some local rockfish on the menu, at least. Everything was way over salted, and service was pretty slow and inattentive. The cocktails were a bright spot- very well mixed and nicely presented. Even throwing in the usual caveats of reviewing a touristy beach restaurant, it's just not good enough to justify the price. I'd come here to sit at the bar and have some snacks, but I wouldn't eat dinner here again.

My bad. Meh.

Delicious perfect burger. The side salad ingredients were far from most garden boring salads. Lobster roll was good/ I just had no idea what a lobster roll was . It's cold like tuna or chicken salad- not what I imagined . My bad though. Still awesome food & great atmosphere!!

Went to Striper Bites for lunch when we learned that Agave wasn't open. The menu looked appealing. We were seated right away; the restaurant wasn't overly busy for a Sunday afternoon. We sat for about ten minutes before the server realized we were his table. It appeared the servers rotated tables as they came in, because they were taking tables inside and outside. We skipped appetizers, and went straight for entrees. My husband and son ordered burgers. I ordered the "Signature Sandwich", the Striper Bites Club. Our friend ordered the Wedge Salad with Salmon. Drinks came, and then we were forgotten about. Two other tables came in after us, were greeted by different servers, and had paid the bill before we got our food. And that was only with asking twice where our food was. Our server offered no explanation when we finally got up to ask him, only saying that it would be out shortly. When we finally did get the food, it was horrible. The fries weren't cooked. The burger was sub-par. My "signature sandwich" was dry, and needed more sauce. My friend's salad was supposed to have the dressing on the side, it came on the salad. The salad was the only decent meal served. Our server never returned to check on the accuracy of the order. I finally asked for the manager, who gave the lame excuse that the kitchen didn't realize the printer in the kitchen wasn't working. It worked for all of the other tables, just not ours. I told him his excuse was not acceptable and that we should have at least been told of the delay; the server should have made sure that our order was being made, and he totally dropped the ball.

Just ate here with my Wife and Kids. We had eight Appetizers and the fish taco entree. I washed it down with rum. Everything was excellent, the staff was very pleasant. top notch spot.

Pass.

Great fresh seafood. Just what you are looking for on a trip to the coast. Buy a bottle of wine and try to land the cork on the shelf behind the bar to win a t-shirt. No pressure just the whole restaurant (and loved ones) staring at you. I was successful, will you be?

We came here 3 times in 2 days. Great atmosphere and very tasty food! Fantastic, large martinis and margaritas. I wish I could transport it back to DC!

We stopped in while traveling for lunch. The staff was very friendly and attentive and they had a great selection of draft beers and the menu had something for all us. I definitely look forward to stopping back again next time around.
