The Savannah Inn

330 Savannah Rd
Lewes, 19958
Reviews:
My wife and I stayed two nights over the weekend of July 10th. We were in town for a family reunion and needed to find a place to stay on fairly short notice. We stumbled upon the Savannah Inn and luckily they had availability! The room was immaculate, the building itself was charming, and the staff was INCREDIBLE! They were so friendly and accommodating. Breakfast each morning was absolutely delicious. Everyone was just happy all the time: the staff, the other guests, and my wife and I. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone. We will certainly be returning, hopefully in the very near future. A-Plus!!!
Awesome!! Great B&B with fabulous and healthy breakfast. Wifi makes for work and play all in one!! Been here twice and always treated special. Clean, well appointed, simply Zen like environment. Gina treats you like family and her husband, mom, and everyone working there are well versed to provide the best hospitality. Thank you to all!
My wife and I stayed here for our third anniversary and it was also our first B&B. Everything was very clean and well maintained with very friendly and accommodating staff. Walking distance to many places. Would highly recommend to anyone. The steam shower was a bonus. :D

Hopkins Farm Creamery

18186 Dairy Farm Rd
Lewes, 19958
Reviews:
Very popular with our family. The ice cream is truly excellent. Watch out they only have one size milk shake and its large. It's delicious but it's real big. How do you feel about cows? At Hopkins they are right next to the shop. They are very visible. Let's just say cows don't make fine French perfume. They do have their our unique farm aroma. It's strong but it's authentic. The kids all complain and then run over to see the cows. They also have a large play area with a kid friendly tractor and castle.
Absolutely Amazing Ice Cream. YUMMY!!! We have been a few times this summer and my family loves to go see the cows especially the baby cows. I love that when I tell them that I need a single scoop in a bowl for my dog they ask if I want it to be sugar free. More benches and picnic tables would be nice
Yay to seeing a bunch of cows laying around/chillin' by the outdoor ice cream shop! Haha. They had so many fun flavors here, I just had to try a bunch! I had their candy crunch, cappuccino delight, peanut butter ripple, brownie and moo cookie. All were tasty!! I believe I got two kids' scoops for $3.50ish.

Great fun place! The interior design is very fun, inviting and colorful. love when frozen yogurt places give you tonz of option like this place. The banana frozen yogurt was delicious. If you haven't had frozen yogurt yet you should check out this place. Enjoy.
Dulce de Leche is the bomb. Nice and clean! Fresh tasting...need one in the DMV!! I loved the flavor choices and the 1950's ice cream shop feel. It was a great place for something cool..

The Blue Water House

407 E Market St

Reviews:
I see mixed reviews from a couple of years ago, but from what I can tell, Rick left and returned and has been busy ever since getting the house "back in order" because there was NADA to complain about on our 2 night stay this past weekend. The BWH is "kitchy", colorful and very Key West, which is the theme of the B and B. Rick is an excellent host and never stopped asking if he could do or get something for us. There was plenty of parking, a relaxing outdoor patio with under cover bike racks where we could secure our own bikes. But he had some nice beach cruisers available if you don't bring your own. Beach chairs, umbrellas, sunscreen, water, snacks, fresh fruit , wine, etc. are all available. Our room was large, clean, a very comfy bed, flat screen TVs, a fridge and our view of our balcony gave us a beautiful sunset. Breakfast was hot and cold foods and was simple but oh so very delicious!! OH! And if you are there in inclement weather, or even just in the evening, the 3rd floor is open and "loft like" with books, a TV, sofa, tables, games and a view on all four sides. We will definitely stay here again! Keep up the good job Rick!
I love this place! I'll definitely stay here again whenever I return to Lewes, DE. This is cozy little bed and breakfast with funky decor. I stayed in the 'Key west' suite. It was spacious. The room comes with a bed (either queen/full not sure) and a little futon that pulls out as a bed. Since I was sharing a room with two other people, they were nice enough to bring us a cot so that we each had our own bed in our room. This place offered beach chairs, beach towels, and boogie boards for free which was great because we didn't have to spend money renting them. We also had free breakfast between 8am-10:30am. The cook was nice enough to accommodate everyone. We had a bottle of Merlot (courtesy of Blue Water House) while we enjoyed the view from our room balcony. The rooms have a TV, however no cable which is a bummer. However, they do offer free wifi. The staff was super nice. Rick really tries hard to please everyone. This is a great place. You really get a bang for your buck. It was worth every penny.
My husband and I just spent 2 relaxing nights at the Blue Water House. Rick (who owned the place from 1999 till a few years go is back (as of 2010) with his little dog Lola. Noel, who cleans, and the breakfast lady were very nice. Accomodations are a little "kitchy" and the place could use some sprucing up - but all in all we had a wonderful time. I recommend the Hemmingway Suite (best room in the house) if you can afford it. We stayed in the Key Lime which was just OK. (Queen size bed - and we wanted a King bed but there were none available the nights we wanted to come.) Best part - a short 3 block walk to the beach - and they provide umbrellas, chairs and towels.

Never disappoints. Great food. They don't skimp on portions. Delicious! Oh and bonus...they deliver!!
This place was ok. I'm from New York so I have attitude about pizza (Don't hate. New Yorkers know their pizza). We ordered a plain cheese pie and a mushroom/pepperoni pie. They are VERY stingy with the toppings. There was probably about ONE slice of pepperoni on each slice of pizza (see pictures). The crust was a little underdone although the sauce had good flavor. Overall the pizza was not bad for non New York pizza.
App: onion rings, mozzarella sticks Nothing exciting here. Fried frozen food. Ok Entree: Large cheese pizza with extra cheese, half pepperoni. Pizza is very good. Best i have tasted in Lewes so far. Service: You order at counter and they bring it to table.

The Surfing Crab

Reviews:
It's a small place. The food is great! Everything is made fresh as you order it. This does result in a wait for your meal but it's worth it. The crabs are steamed as you order them. Try the mussels and ask for a second loaf of bread because the broth is the best part. The blackened chicken is the best I've ever tasted. Even the chicken fingers are fresh chicken they bread themselves.... nothing here is frozen. Very laid back place and laid back service.... in a good way
Crabs were fantastic. The crab cakes were also great. I wish we had a place like this at home.
Best crabs in DE period. Good idea too call ahead and get crab availability... size and prices so you know the deal up front. You can reserve your crabs too. Staff are cool and owners are good peeps!

Lazy L At Willow Creek Bed & Breakfast

16061 Willow Creek Rd
Lewes, 19958
Reviews:
Quiet, secluded, dog friendly (people friendly too). Refreshing swimming pool (not many places at the beach have pools) with an incredible view of creek and marshes. Nice sized rooms, some with excellent views of nature - we watched from our bedroom window as river otters swam up the creek. Hot tub location is perfect as well. Added bonus is the large fenced in dog run.
Getting away this year has been a challenge, so we were excited to hear about a place in short-ish driving distance from Northern VA that welcomes guests with their canine companions. Perfect for a weekend for us and our dog, Buffy. Debbie and her staff at The Lazy L are relaxed and yet attentive to details that make guests feel special. Buffy was welcome at breakfast, beside us at the charming and cozy heated pool (we visited in late September), and anywhere at the resort where we were. The landscaping at The Lazy L is gorgeous, accentuating the natural wetlands backdrop. Even the spacious fenced-in dog run has beautiful flowers and shrubs along its borders. Guests include folks with and without dogs, and some stay for weeks at a time to really unwind. While we have stayed at a couple of other places in the past with Buffy, most require exorbitant extra fees and have restrictions on where you can roam with doggie. The Lazy L, a refreshing change, actually LIKES your dog! Big difference. A short drive away is Broadkill beach (head north on Rte 1), where doggies abound. Buffy, we discovered, isn't much for encroaching waves, but she loved sniffing the many horseshoe crab carcasses along the beach while we played paddle ball, and she made a few buddies among other beach bumming pooches. The Lazy L gives many suggestions for dog friendly restaurants and attractions in the nearby historic town of Lewes and beyond. We wish we could've stayed longer, and look forward to our next visit!
We really enjoyed our winter stay here. The owners were extremely accommodating, the rooms were spacious, well decorated, and clean, and the breakfasts were fabulous. The view of the Willow Creek is beautiful - it is a very peaceful setting. Since we were there is January, we especially enjoyed the hot tub that overlooked the creek. About 8 miles from the beach and Cape Henlopen, 5 miles from Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge, and also about 8 miles from the Dogfishead brewery (make a tour reservation well in advance - its free and awesome!) We stayed here with our dog - and it is seriously THE best place to stay with a pet. The owners go out of their way to make sure people without dogs aren't inconvenienced though - no signs of pets in the rooms or on the grounds. Definitely our new favorite place to stay in Lewes!

Great food! Started off with a cheese plate (we ordered 3 different cheese for 5 people. More than enough). The truffle fries were a huge hit at the table -- the bowl was huge, shared between 5 (despite previous reviews that they weren't great -- they were perfectly crisp and flavorful). Ordered the bistro chicken (prepared gluten free - they were really accommodating about that) and it was the perfect portion and really delicious. We also got 2 bottles of wine for the table. Will be going back for sure. Waitress was really helpful and nice!
This place had been highly recommended and I thought it was OK. I took a French friend for their birthday, as it was explained to be a French bistro. Had the tuna sushimi, it was fair. But the wine choices were OK, truffle french fries were excellent and the service was good. I was just expecting a little more from the food maybe it was just the day I went. It was raining really hard outside and we were on the outside terrace which was fine.
Extremely delicious food and presentation! Awesome variety, fun bar area, and outdoor seating. I love the people there and this place is quite the gem.

Unusually good for a roadside carry-out. They were most accommodating and helpful. Recommended.
I usually order vegetable dishes here because of their preparation. Very good flavors and efficient service. Clean surroundings but needs updating. Convenient location with ample parking. It's my go-to Chinese take-out in the Lewes area.
Sad food. Dirty floors. Very strange family run operation. How it stays in business is a mystery to me.

Great food, great service, and great atmosphere! Definitely coming back! I got the chicken and my partner got the salmon. Both meals were better than any similar dish we've had anywhere. The waitress told us everything on the menu is excellent, and although I'm normally skeptical of statements like that, I bet she's right. If you're in Lewes, you should definitely give this place a try.
Oh boy, we dined here a while ago, this won't be a very detailed review, but I can safely say that among the restaurants in Lewes, this one is very good, it is owned by the Striper Bites people, and is every bit as good. Much quieter here than there. Service was great and the food was good, the wine list was enough to keep us interested.
Ate here back in February for my moms birthday. Had the half chicken meal with Mac and cheese. The food was perfection! All of us loved our meals. The prices are a bit higher than other restaurants in the area but the quality and taste of the food made the prices worth it I can't wait to go back!
