I don't understand some the negative reviews. I have been here several times and I used to work at the Texas Roadhouse in Union City, CA.I have always been ta fan of the Roadhouse. Great atmosphere, friendly people and great food and drinks. How can I forget free peanuts and the delicious bread and cinnamon butter. This is a great place to go for lunches and dinners (lunches only on weekends). Also, a great place to have a birthday as they get to sit on a saddle and be the center of attention. A must go.....

The atmosphere is loud and servers are young and inexperienced but the rolls and sweet butter are enough to fill up before ordering. The best appetizer is the fried onion with that spicy sauce. Most plates are tasty except buffalo chicken, it's very dry and not what one would expect. Prices are good as well and free endless peanuts! It's like you don't even have to order an entree.

We had the best customer service tonight! My husband's steak came and it was a little more done that he would have liked. We didn't complain or ask to send it back, but the waiter noticed that it wasn't right. Within minutes the manager came over and offered to bring out a new one. It was perfect! 2 managers and the waiter all made sure that we were happy! This never happens at a restaurant! The rest of the food was fresh and delicious and we didn't have to wait long!

It started off well. Then my salad was never brought out. The entrees arrived and I requested my salad. I was told I could get something else. I repeated I ordered a salad. While I wait for my salad, I start cutting my steak up. I trim the edges and eat, then I notice a dirty piece of paper under my steak. My husband brings this to the attention of the bartender. They shrug their shoulders, and they disappear into the kitchen. Then our waiter, Alex, comes out. He then says they can make another one. I said ok, let's make this right. My new steak comes out in record time; four minutes to be exact. The steak is paper thin, and cooked well-done. My original order was rare. Alex asks if I would like a refill. I say yes. I am diabetic and I get a battery acid sugar sweet tea. We flag him down, again. Explain I'm a diabetic and I cannot drink this. He then argues that what he gave me. I told him no that is sugar sweeten tea. He gave me several "I'm sorrys." I just suck it up and try to enjoy what little dinner I have left. Then my toddler, that has finished his dinner way before me, goes under the table and grabs the garbage build up throughout the day. He continues to throw it on the table. Where is manager during all of this? I don't know. Your guess is as good as mine.

I have visited this location with my wife on a weekday and enjoyed the experience. I have never had an issue with the waitstaff in our visits and the majority of them look to be college students. What is disappointing is the quality of food we received on a Friday evening. Our appetizer and salads were delivered promptly. Unfortunately a salmon entree and chicken fingers took over 30 minutes to arrive. When they arrived at the table, everything was overcooked. We were both hungry and just picked at our food. Our server inquired why wenhad not been eating and we explained the issue and she agreed. The manager came over and we explained the same thing and she offered us a 10% discount on the meal and neither of us touched our food. She never offered to recook the meals. If we return, it will be on a weeknight when they can handle the volume. I had really high hopes for this establishment

Look at the parking lot.......... Always full of cars. That says it all!!!

Between the peanuts on the floor an the massive steaks in the display case, this spot is definitely blue collar, no frills steak and meat dinner emporium. It's loud and the wait can be long, but this is a really good place to go when you're hungry for (relatively) inexpensive steak and fattening treats. Despite the fact that the wait staff is being pulled in 100 different directions, they're fairly attentive and super nice. Every table gets these glazed rolls with apple butter, which are so dangerous that they should be banned by the Geneva Convention. Anyways, you won't be disappointed by this place. I come here every time I visit UDel, and I think it's one of the best dinner spots in town.

This place use to be absolutely phenomenal but has gone down over the last few years mainly due to the fact they can't keep up with so many customers. They are packing tables in like sardines, you can't even enjoy your meal if you are at a table (not a booth) without having someone including wait staff constantly bumping into you as they go by. The food is usually still great with an occasional goof up. You have to watch the upcharges though - make sure that if you ask for a cherry coke that they tell you they don't have it but will make you one with grenadine for a small extra charge - nice surprise on your bill when they don't.

I joined the Texas Roadhouse email list a year ago but things got in the way and I never made it out to a Texas Roadhouse until today, shortly after I got a first anniversary coupon from the mailing list. So how do you explain that you're using a one-year anniversary coupon even though you haven't been to any Texas Roadhouse before? It's a quandary of Seinfeldian proportions. Anyway, this restaurant was packed on a Saturday evening but they still were able to seat me right away. I was surprised at the bucket of peanuts on the table. The server also brought a basket of bread. Wow! So even before I ordered a single thing, there was already enough food on the table to fill my stomach! I was sure I wouldn't leave hungry even if portions were small. I ordered the rattlesnake bites, which were good but perhaps not terribly original. For the entree, I had fried catfish with baked beans and a house salad. The catfish had thick crisp breading. The salad was okay. Baked beans seemed like it had a bit too much water but the bacon flakes were a nice touch. Service was good. The server came back to check on me quite a number of times. He gave me a run down of the menu since it was my first time there and he never questioned why I was using a one-year anniversary coupon even though I'd never been to a Texas Roadhouse. So no Seinfeld quandary there.

I really want to give this restaurant just 2 stars, but the food is pretty good. It's the service that is total shit. I'm not sure if it's under new management, because I feel like a year ago, it was not like this. The hostess staff is terribly unorganized. They page you when it's your turn, but then you are standing up at the desk behind another party for about 5 minutes waiting for someone to take you to the table.....what was the point of paging us? Also, the call ahead seating is a joke. You will still wait in line, and once we waited over 40 minutes. The wait staff is younger crowd, which is fine, but they kind of suck. You may get a good egg, but be prepared to get one that will greet you probably 10 minutes after you have been seated, doesn't check on you that often, and you will probably want to take your drink to the bar to be refilled because it will be faster than waiting on your server. I've told my husband MULTIPLE times that I want to black list this place, but the steaks are usually on point so he can't just yet. Oh, and everyone knows that the rolls are legit.

This is the best steakhouse in upper Delaware. This place is always crowded on the weekend and dinner. Their prime ribs start at 4PM and is out pretty fast. Sometimes people need to wait almost two hours without calling ahead (They didn't call it a reservation). You should call ahead but your whole party needs to arrive before seated. Oh.. their beer is a must if you are a beer lover. If you celebrate a birthday or make an announcement, their staff will yell Yee-Haa for you ;-)

    (5)
  • Doug L.

It's a franchise and the quality of the service matches that of an absentee manager. Clueless. My ribeye was tasty and the beer was cold. The story ends with my appetite satisfied and the bill paid in full. Can't recommend this restaurant but if you can stomach the service, you'll love this place.

  • Steven M.

We love this place, I gotta specify how I exactly want my steak, but we love it!

  • Steve C.

Looking for a tasty steak? You will find one at the Texas Roadhouse! When I go here I usually get the 20 oz ribeye or the 18oz T-Bone (oink). Well my large appetite for steaks isn't the only reason I get their largest steaks, it's because whenever I have a steak at here, I want more. The steaks are always fresh, flavorsome and cooked to order accurately, I have had a hard time at many chains getting a steak cooked accurately so this a a big plus. Nothing more disappointing than ordering a steak medium rare and being served tasteless shoe leather or a steak that is still mooing. Ok, so the steaks are great, but what if you are not a fan of steak? Well first off a little piece of heaven that every customer gets and should dive into is their hot buns that are put on every table, no not the waitresses... really their buns are served warm with butter on the side and are some of the best I've ever tasted. Just like me, many people do not eat the bread or buns put on the table at restaurants so they don't fill themselves up, Texas Roadhouse is the exception to the rule. Don't cheat yourself out of this heavenly experience. Other menu items that I have found to be a hit over the years are their Texas Chili, Killer Ribs appetizer, and the grilled shrimp. What hold this location back from a five star rating? Well the service is sub-par. There has been times that I had over a 15 min wait due to a hostess not being available (not due to capacity), the level of service from the servers are hit or miss, and the management seems disengaged. For this reason, many times I have felt like a steak from here but went elsewhere because I wasn't in the mood for possible problems. In the end I will continue to return here on occasion, but I would increase the frequency of my visits if I saw the customer service improve.

Whenever we are down in Delaware visiting friends, we ALWAYS (and I mean ALWAYS) stop here for a meal with them. The food is great and the service is excellent. Love the free peanuts. And there are large booths for whatever size party you have, so there is no problem seating a crowd and still allowing people to interact freely. The biggest downside to this place (aside from the peanuts, if you're allergic) is the noise. There is country music playing all the time, and the volume ranges from loud to LOUD. If you're at all hard of hearing or vulnerable to overstimulation, you may want to find another spot or request a table in the corner. Not a place I'd bring a date, but a fun spot to hang out with friends.

We drive here from Cape May about once every other month. Their food is really good. When you 1st walk in you're greeted with a big barrel of peanuts to dig into. Then you're seated with a basket of hot sweet rolls. Their ribs are pretty tasty, their pull pork is pretty decent too. If you like appetizers then I suggest their "snake bites" they're awesome. Simply a great country themed restaurant with above par food.

We sat at the bar for dinner. Yes, the music was loud, but not so loud that conversation was impossible! We had salad, big steaks, potatoes and vegetables - the food was good and exactly what we expected and wanted. The service was pleasant, cute and attentive; we wanted for nothing. That being said, please train these bartenders to make a drink! When I asked Kerri if she said could make a martini, she assured me she could. She was way too nice too be more than slightly offended. She chilled the glass (a nice touch considering how busy she was) then proceeded to make a shaken martini without vermouth! When I asked about the vermouth, she insisted that "up" meant no vermouth! She then added sweet vermouth and had to start over!! When she finally served my martini, it came with the 3 olives I requested and despite all her missteps, it was very good. When I tried to explain the proper way to make a martini for my second drink, she told me she could not make it as I suggested so I settled for a vodka rocks! Kerri - buy a book to learn to make the classics if TR can't teach you!!!

Driving up from OC, MD to NY. Had to try the ribs, well worth it, and recommending, even if its half slab as an appetizer, great amongst 3. We didn't get steak but looked like they had great cuts. Great turnaround on service.

Probably the worst T.R. I've been to in the DE/PA area. The steaks are usually tough, and not prepared well. The staff is courteous, but the food is "eh". Also, I dislike how you have to drive around the back of the restaurant to get into the restaurant. I've eaten here more than once, and I've been let know quite a few times.

  • Molly C.

We come here once or sometimes even twice a week. We absolutely love it. The food is always hot and fresh and everyone is so nice there. They always get our order right and they're really good about keeping up refills of drinks and rolls. We always come here for birthdays and other occasions too. There's usually a waiting line but it's worth it.

This is my go-to location for steak. It is prepared right and if there is ever a problem they will replace the steak. I once had a tough cord running through a steak, I let them know and they replaced it. I also enjoy their chicken critters which are large batter dipped white meat segments. They are too big to be called chicken fingers. Their salads are really good as well as their chili and loaded mashed potatoes.

This place is decent for sure. The apps, salads, steaks and service are always consistent and for the most part quite good as long as your not expecting anything fancy. Our server was very good tonight and all the food was cooked well and very tasty. It's very reasonable price wise I would be happy to return in the future.

I'll echo many other sentiments that the service can be lacking and is one of the few things holding this restaurant back from a 5 star review. On the good side, the wonderfully tasty yeast-risen sweet bread with cinnamon butter spread plays a wonderful counterpoint to the salty, crunchy peanuts which they both offer as free starters. The food is generally spot on.... I'm a consistent beef eater while I'm there (it is a steakhouse after all). I prefer them medium well, but usually wind up with well done, as I'm assuming the grill masters aren't taking carry over cooking into account. However, the plates are wonderfully prepared, the food is well seasoned and tasty. I would highly recommend Texas Roadhouse (usually busy on the weekends) and just pray you get a good server.

Over all the Service leaves something to be desired. I was put off by the wet table & menus with crumbs in the booth seat. Bread was served without plates, but it is very good. The only thing above average was the excellent & pleasant service we got from Sherry the waitress. Basically our visit was pleasant. However, we were not impressed. In my opinion OutBack, TGI Fridays, Famous Dave's, Lone Star Steakhouse & Applebee's do a much better job. My daughter eats the macaroni & cheese from every restaurant. She is 8 yrs old and this is the first place she did not like the macaroni & cheese in the kids meal.

I haven't been in more than a year but when I went the food was always yummy. I don't know if "Rattlesnake Bites" are still on the menu but they were so good (fried jalapenos). I gave a 2 star rating because the 2nd time I went to the Texas Roadhouse (for take out) the food was almost gross. I talked to one of the owners (forget his name) but he took down my name and address and told me he would send me a $20 gift card to make up for it...the card never showed up, so that's the main reason I haven't gone back. I don't give my money to places that don't seem interested in making their customers satisfied.

My boyfriend and his family went there for dinner and the waiter never visited us, didn't cook my boyfriends meat as order, his moms lemons in her water had gone bad and they forgot to bring out beans I had ordered, but the food was delicious so I didn't think much of it, simple mistakes right ? Well that night I was throwing up and all the next day, and the next day my boyfriend spent the day throwing up, we had both had salad and I had had some of is steak and we believe that is was the food, it was really awful

When I am home and when I travel I try and avoid chain restaurants, which is why I like Yelp. However, I found my self hungry and in the middle of Delaware with no time to shop around. I was pleasantly surprised with Texas Roadhouse. The parking lot and restaurant was packed, still they found a table for us right away. Everyone was very pleasant. I ordered the bone-in ribeye and it was very good. The bill was less than I am used to. So I hereby award this branch of Texas Roadhouse 4 stars.

i'll never give 5 stars unless it's absolutely the best! but it's a great steakhouse and atmosphere is wild, especially when it's someone's b-day. alot of peanut shells everywhere, lol.

Texas Roadhouse rules! Definitely one of the better chain restaurants. The steaks, chicken and pulled pork are all good. Service is good and prices are reasonable - definitely great for dining in! The beer is served ice cold! The menu has many options besides what I've mentioned - they also have fish, burgers, sandwiches, wings, etc. On the weekends and evenings, there will often be a little bit of a wait to be seated - if there's a line of people waiting, it's gotta be good! My few complaints are as follows: The take-out service can use some improvements. Often, if I call in an order and they say it'll be 20 minutes, I'll usually wait a half hour before picking it up. Rarely have I gotten take-out that's been ready in the time frame they specified. They could also use a better waiting area for take-out - if it's really busy, you'll find yourself in a constant barrage of people going in both directions, and it can get rather annoying. Also, the country music is REALLY loud!

Great chain and this is one of the best restaurants in the chain. For the money, I've never had a better steak in a restaurant. If you can, get Jorge to make your steak- it is always perfect. In the rare instances my steak was overcooked the manager, Nancy has always been awesome about setting it right. The sides are also good, the rolls and cinnabutter are a favorite. We recently tried the ribs and they didn't disappoint. The decor is what you'd expect- hokie chain 'Texas' flavor kitch. Overall, Great casual steakhouse, great service. Great meal for a great price! Did I mention the sweet tea? It's always perfect!

We went to Texas Roadhouse for the first time, searching for something a little better than Dover's Lone Star Steakhouse. We weren't disappointed! The wait time was a bit ridiculous, but they have open seating in the bar area (which we did, after avoiding getting in a fight over another open table with a "fellow customer"). The environment is loud, with country music blasting, but fun and pleasant. C'mon, it's "Texas Roadhouse" after all. They have an open menu, where if you see it on there, they can mix and match it up however you want them to. I had the filet mignon steaks, which was 3 small filets over a flavored rice, served with 2 sides of my choice (house salad, and a baked sweet potato). They also start you off with some delicious (yeast?) rolls that come out of the oven every 5 minutes. They're amazing. The filets were fantastic, although a bit smaller than I thought they'd be, at about 2" in diamter each. My meal was $16.99. My husband had the T-bone which was so good he finished it (surprisingly). The service was great - better than great - it was friendly, accommodating, explanatory, enthusiastic, and memorable. Our server, Elizabeth, made it a great experience. She explained everything since it was our "first time" there and she kept us very happy.

Texas Roadhouse. Go in, look at the cuts of steak in the waiting area, get a table, crack peanuts and throw the shells on the floor, eat food, leave. That's pretty much how every meal at any Texas Roadhouse goes. This location is no different, minus the fact we were meeting up with some friends we had not seen in a while so dinner was extended due to laughs between bites and jokes all around. This location is nice and I enjoyed the setup, it seemed a bit more open than the other ones I have visited. Service was great. One person in our party had never been to one before so our waitress brought over the manager, who provided our friend with a coupon for a free app and some other goodies inside a paper bag. Overall, you really cannot go wrong with TR if you're looking for decent BBQ at a truly affordable price.

The two of us went on a Tuesday. The waitress was really courteous and attentive. Overall, the food was decent. The bread is too sweet for an app, but being homemade was a plus. The side salad was awesome. Veggies were good but needed salt and little more time in the steamer. My ribeye was decent given the 60/40 meat to fat ratio. The mushrooms and baked potato were good. I will say, the loud and obnoxious line dance by the staff every 25 minutes ruined mine and my guests conversation.

The food is always good whenever I've gone here!! The service is ok. Not marvelous, not horrible....just ok. I usually get the stewed chicken, the seasoned rice (my fav), mashed potatoes, broccoli....even the side salad is delicious! And of course, the buttery rolls and honey butter. Omg! I try not to have too many before my meal comes. I don't eat peanuts, so that part of being there is not a thrill for me. It's actually annoying and seemingly a bit unsanitary to see all of the shells all over the place. Smh oh and i dont know if there's something wrong with their fountain or whatever, but their sprites are always bad :-( and the tea. So i stick with water. Other than that, 4 stars well deserved!!

There are few Texas Roadhouses in the area. I've been to a couple other locations in PA and I must, must, must credit the management at this location. Food quality is always beyond our expectations. My husband and I agree that this Texas Roadhouse serves up the best Prime Rib and Bone-In Ribeye (our favorites). Nevermind fancy steakhouses because the value, quality, and most importantly consistency causes us to rate this place top notch. The reason I mention management at this location is because of the side salads. It may seem like such a minor detail... but we notice! The salads are served up in a ice cold dish with only the freshest ingredients. And again it's consistently wonderful. Having had some restaurant experience in the past, I notice the team work displayed by the entire staff. Every dining experience (few times a month) has been an excellent one and this review is long overdue!

    Salty!! Meat undercooked.

It's a franchise and the quality of the service matches that of an absentee manager. Clueless. My ribeye was tasty and the beer was cold. The story ends with my appetite satisfied and the bill paid in full. Can't recommend this restaurant but if you can stomach the service, you'll love this place.

We love this place, I gotta specify how I exactly want my steak, but we love it!

i'll never give 5 stars unless it's absolutely the best! but it's a great steakhouse and atmosphere is wild, especially when it's someone's b-day. alot of peanut shells everywhere, lol.

This place is decent for sure. The apps, salads, steaks and service are always consistent and for the most part quite good as long as your not expecting anything fancy. Our server was very good tonight and all the food was cooked well and very tasty. It's very reasonable price wise I would be happy to return in the future.
