The tamale was frozen and then microwaved into a rock hard iron lump of molten dry meat surrounded by a wrinkled prune like shell...it would make a burnt hot pocket look yummy. The green chili was a bluish grey color. I love making green chili and cannot imagine the ingredients required to turn it that color other than cooking it then freezing and thawing it hundreds of times. Overall everything tasted either old or hastily prepared or both. I didn't try the hamburger. That may be the way to go next time, but there will not be a next time.

Seriously the closest thing to mi abuelitas green chile that I have found. My kiddos from 12 to 18 love the food and I love that we can grab a quick meal from a local place.

They changed management recently and I think the food changed with it. Ordered the special (4 tacos and drink for $4) which is a great price. I ordered the tacos with shredded beef and ordered it to go. Another gentleman was waiting as well as I and there was a few others there as well. It go very busy shortly after and the wait staff had a lot of catching up to do. 20 minutes later (yes 20 minutes at least) passed and my special was finally ready for take out. Next time I will call it in. The tacos were good and warm when I arrived home. I think the wait is what bothered me the most. Better than Taco Bell, but think I might have to find another Mexican take out place. Might go back there again, but Jose was much quicker with the service and friendly smile, etc.

I ordered delivery from this place all the time. Their food is cheap and usually pretty delicious. I've even gotten a cheeseburger and fries and it was awesome, but there Carnitas tacos are outstanding :-)

Salty salty salty. That should say enough. I ordered delivery - shrimp fajitas for me and a chicken smothered burrito for the hubs. The delivery was fast so that was nice... Prices not ridiculously high... But I guess you really do get what you pay for because this wasn't good at all. When I opened the shrimp fajitas, it was a ton of peppers and onions and only 5 measly shrimp. I know most restaurants usually skimp on shrimp, but if you're going to give me only 5, at least let them be delicious! The rice was dry and tasteless. My husband also thought his burrito was too salty. To say the least, doubt we'll ever be back.

First of all, this is not Mexican it's crap. Second of all, the CEVICHE is made with ketchup! WTF? It was absolutely the most disgusting food I've ever eaten. I've had a lot of ceviche over the years, including on the beach in Mexico. The fish is supposed to be cooked in lime, cilantro and onion NOT KETCHUP! DO NOT EAT HERE! AND IT WAS $10 FOR THAT CRAP? THE CHIPS SMELL LIKE CHLORINE. I'm sick to my stomach.

Okay ordered delivery from here over 1/2 a dozen times because well, they're the only thing that's not pizza or chinese.. So while the foods not exactly bad, it's not my hmm..even 5th choice, but hey it's pretty darn cheap and hearty. So I'm lazy to drive and don't want taco bell an not too mention there's not really any good fast food Mexican near me so I settle on this place if my taste buds are flexible and well..I'm a bit desperate for anything But Chinese/pizza. Lo down: Chimichanga - good portion and really good.. Sof tacos- it's okay, meats moist.. I've had all the meats. Nachos - better to eat them fresh not deliver al pastor- Now this is REALLY good and a lot of meat. yummy.. Hard tacos- not the best choice for deliver because they are soggy by the time they get to your door. Not their fault, but I like something crunch salsa- ok Huevos con chorizo - not bad, I order this a lot All in all, it's cheap Mexican delivery food that settles my appetite when I'm not in a picky or anal mood. And they are always nice.

My fiancée and I discovered this place when we were both very tired from work and couldn't decide on who was gonna cook that night. We were in that, "I don't wanna leave the house" mood to boot. Both Chinese and pizza weren't cutting it so we were in a pickle. Long story short we found delivery in Los Lagos. I agree with everyone saying its "just okay." The food is good enough to make you finish the meal that you paid for, but you'd probably be more satisfied if you went to Qdoba or a place like La Loma down in Denver. If you're hungry and wanting inexpensive Mexican food, go for it. Chances are you'll have a decent experience. As for us, we really only order from this place when we are hungry, don't want to cook, and don't want to go anywhere. We consider this our "easy compromise" dinner. Essentially our last resort, but we don't wanna make it sound that negative, but it really is our last resort on those kick your butt days. We have yet to step foot inside this place because we don't feel the need to go there. If we're out we'll go somewhere better. I hate to say it but its our last resort. Now a little about the food, its greasy; the rice, the chili rellanos, the fried anything will seem like its dripping oil. The green chili taste tomato-y, which could be a good thing to some. Guac seemed authentic but needed flavor if you ask me, seemed like mashed up avocado and nothing more. The burritos, soft tacos, and non-fried things aren't bad... they aren't exciting either. Just a lot of "okay" here. Think teenage cook; the flavors aren't refined, matured, or has received proper training, but talented enough without. Basically I recommend this place, but only if you're hungry, live close enough for delivery, or just feeling adventurous.

I'm giving it 3 stars, I would give 4 for the staff and how nice and prompt they were, but... The salsa was pretty good but the green chili tasted like flour, very bland and I got the hot. Was not hot at all. The beans were tasty. We got an enchilada to try the red sauce. Bland! I would give them another try because the chimi itself with shredded beef was good but the greens weird taste was a fluke and I'm leaving tomorrow.

Los Lagos looks small, and it is. But if you just judged it on the experience, you would never guess that! The staff made us feel at home--even though we're not Hispanic, we got friendly & quick service on big fancy plates! We felt so comfortable and taken care of! Definitely not what I was expecting! The location doesn't do this restaurant justice, it should be in the middle of a huge shopping center to get the attention it deserves. The ownership just changed, they said, and whatever this new family is doing is amazing! I wasn't sure if I wanted mild or medium chile and without skipping a beat their server, Nathan, offered me a sample and brought it right out, even though he was slammed with the phone ringing and there were take our guests. We will definitely be back!

Well, now I have actually been to Los Lagos in person. A few times, since I went for original and follow-up treatments at the Workers Comp clinic that is in the same strip mall and needed to eat lunch while waiting for the Dr. Kendra is right....this is indeed a Mexican restaurant staffed by Asian people. It does not have much of a south-of-the-border environment, although there are 3 (count 'em) pieces of somewhat Mexican looking decor on the north wall of the dining room. The chile rellenos that are made exactly like egg rolls are actually tasty although they could perhaps be a tad larger (like at least 2x larger!) The vegetarian green chile is quite good. My reason for retaining at least 3 stars. I'm hip to the fact that not everyone likes or looks for such features as veggie green chile, but I do, and it's indeed a favorite comfort food for me! The rice accompanying most dishes here is somehow a Mex-Asian fusion sort of a rice, with things like peas and carrots in it, and yet some Mexican spices too. Curious indeed. The most interesting thing of all was when 2pm rolled around and one by one 2 or 3 of the young people who work there started coming out of the kitchen with what looked like yummy steaming big bowls of----------PHO! It smelled and looked so very good! I almost thought of asking if I could order that next time. It doesn't even matter. They manage to stay pretty busy, though, from what I've seen.

Worst restaurant experience of my life. No exaggeration. I was told it was a Mexican place run by Asians which made it a little different and they are near my house. I went there and the place was dingy & shady - I've seen trucks with better ambiance. I got my food to go. Got home and it was awful. The consistentincy was like baby food for almost everything, but the burned shredded beef! No flavor on anything. I actually made my own queso dip at home to try & save it, but ultimately threw everything except my chimichanga away. The next day, I was eating my leftovers and found a fly that had been rolled up in the tortilla & fried!! I almost got sick. Again, this was the worst experience I've ever had at any restaurant. This place needs a visit from the Health Department and even that wouldn't fix the lack of flavor and horrible consistency.

We have been ordering here for more than 10 years - not so much because the food is great but because they deliver. Until recently we found the service to be top-notch but the last couple of times we ordered, a different gal answered the phone and she cannot get our orders correct. Once we were double charged because she said the register was out of tape and they had to run it twice to get us a receipt to sign!! Tonight we waited over an hour and had to call to check on its status. We were told they were really busy and it would be another 10-15 mins which told me they hadn't even started on our order yet!! This was the end of my patience with Los Lagos and we will no longer be ordering from here!! UPDATE: after waiting an hour & 45 minutes we finally got our order. It was cold, the guacamole was black and the containers has been placed sideways in the bag so all of the green chili ran out!! ORDER FROM LOS LAGOS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

If I had walked into this establishment with the intention of eating some excellent Mexican food, this review would be very different. I'd probably echo the thoughts of other Yelpers: they use store-bought shells, the food is made by non-Mexicans, etc. It would be a 1 star review, in all liklihood. But that's NOT how I experienced Los Lagos. I called them up, and they delivered to my door. MEXICAN FOOD! DELIVERED! I'm a lazy bastard, and when the wife and I don't feel like cooking or putting shoes on to go out somewhere, we make some poor teenager drive his ass to our house to deliver food to us. Sadly, when you're in the mood for delivery, it's basically a choice between pizza or chinese. When you aren't in a pizza or chinese mood, you have to order food that smacks of desperation. Maybe ordering a sub or wings from a pizza joint, or even sushi from a chinese place. It's rarely a good idea, but if I'm starving and lazy I'll do what I need to (except leave the house. I won't do that). A few nights ago, we were going through our pile of delivery menus, rejecting everyone. No to pizza. No to chinese. No crappy wings or subs. Ugh, no fake sushi. Whoa, whoa. What's this? Mexican food? DELIVERED? So, yeah, the food wasn't great. About on par with Taco Bell, maybe a bit better. But what WAS great was being able to have a bit of variation in delivery. Something reasonably tasty resembling mexican food, delivered to my door? Hell F**king Yes Please.

The best place to start this review is with the waiter/cashier. If he was the only thing I was rating, I'd give Los Lagos 5 stars. Jose' (El Salvadorian, not Asian) was attentive, helpful, cheerful, and friendly. The restaurant is small; maybe 6 tables for 2 - 4, so it's not a place to bring a crowd. While we were there, several obvious regulars came in. They were greeted like old friends, by Jose'. My son and I started with the complementary chips and salsa. The salsa was good, with a hint of cilantro and gently spicy. The chips could have been a little crispier, but they were fine. We then had chili cheese fries. My doctor would say "never order those again," but they were tasty, even if not a typical Mexican dish. My son had quesadillas with steak, which he liked, and I had chicken soft tacos in flour tortillas, which were also good. This isn't blow-you-away great Mexican food, and the tortillas are probably not made on site, but it's affordable and the quantity is more than adequate. We had planned to have dessert - sopapillas and flan (1 each), but were too stuffed to eat more. I will come back, when I'm in the area. Next time, I'll pass on the chili cheese fries, out of deference to my doctor, but save room for dessert.

Just OK. Food had flavor but nothing spectacular. Portions were small. Not bad if you're in the area but don't make a special trip.

This was the worst place I have ever been to in my entire life. I love Mexican food, but this was not Mexican in any sense. I think that the people that own this place also own a Chinese restaurant and whatever meat they use in the "Mexican" food has a distinctly Asian taste. I just could not get over the fact that I was eating a burrito with mongolian beef inside of it. The only saving grace is that the place delivers the food quickly. Please don't waste your money here!

Did I miss the memo that a new fusion genre had emerged? Are they calling it Mexicasian? My Crispy Chile Relleno looked exactly like an egg roll, which really threw me off. The food was pretty good but out of shear confusion, I cannot give this place any more or less stars. I appreciated the speedy delivery by the nice Asian woman, and I was simple pleased that we could get Mexican food delivered on a snowy February day.

Los Lagos is a favorite around the office, not only for their decent, whole-in-the-wall Mexican food, but because they deliver. I personally like the shredded beef burrito supreme, but I mostly order it as an excuse to devour a bag of chips with that salsa. They make the best salsa, but only if you love onions and don't have an afternoon meeting.

Came here 8:45pm on a Sat night wanting something Mexican-esque without dealing with Taco Bell, Del Taco, or anything with the word taco in it -- although that's indeed what I was wanting unless something inspiring struck my eye -- they had many things that looked pleasing on the menu, but I went for the tacos. It will please the reading audience and former reviewers of this site, if they read this, to know that at least on Sat nights, they have at least a half-Hispanic populace preparing your food. Certainly my patient cashier was Hispanic. I couldn't tell about the guy squatting in the corner on his laptop, playing Asteroids and then later checking out eBay. I know I saw at least 1 Hispanic cook. Not much in the line of decor, generic white melamine tables, ok seats, standard ordering counter and a small off-color TV mounted in a ceiling corner completes the picture. I ordered 3 hardshell beef and 3 hardshell chicken tacos (not all for now, some for tomorrow when it's gray and wet Sunday, watching football). Taco shells may be store bought but at least it's not the same vendor as Taco Bell/Yum Brands uses. There's a bit of give to these corn shells. Real cheese, thinly shredded. Lettuce, tomato bits. Decent portions of meat, not monstrous ones, but not tiny either. Everything tastes perfectly cooked. I do have to give them props for using a non-Pace salsa, and it isn't Safeway or King Soopers either, if it does come from a jar -- it's moderately thick, with chunks of onion, bits of green pepper? or maybe jalapeno, more likely from the burn...and maybe...basil?? Tiny tiny bits of some off-green herb I can't lock onto. Possibly oregano, but I', thinkingmore basil. The longer you try and lock onto it, the more the salsa warms in your mouth. Either way, nice touch. Great place to grab something quick, just north of the 92nd & US-36 exit, 1st right into the plaza. I'll be back to try the non-taco dishes at some point.

If you want to eat here do so at your own risk. As I was sipping a beer at a local tavern, the bartender and kitchen manager decided they wanted to order a little breakfast from Los Roaches Lagos, the bar girl ordered a breakfast burrito with onions and cheese , egg potatoe thing. Since they deliver it was a quick handy breakfast treat. ( Wrong ) As she started to eat her burrito it appeared to have a few to many onions on it for her liking, so she opens it up to remove a few, And much to our disgust, a 1/2 inch roach was inside and alive, Well let me tell ya I about lost my import beer right there on the bar. and she did start gaging. We save the little fellow and call roach headquarters ( Los Lagos ) and much to my surprise about 15 minutes later an asian lady shows up. Well after we try and show her what we found inside the burrito, which she did not want to look at, outta sight outta mind i guess, She offers the bar keep a card for a free breakfast, After I picked myself up off the floor from laughing, and the bar keep, gave her the 411 and said that would be the last meal she ever ate there, the ordeal was over, This is no joke, eat there at your own risk.....

Should one be concerned if their enchilada/burrito/Mex dish is prepared by a staff composed of Asians? Judge solely on the taste of the food offered at Los Lagos.... Yes. Turn around and go somewhere else. Yuck. Store bought shells. Shredded chicken that tasted of chicken juice. The beans were so Grey you could've sworn they were the inspiration for the Grey crayon. Chips and salsa are free but I've had better chips from Don Pablos. 1 star for being cheap.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
