Camp Robber Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

I used to live in Montrose, and I have eaten here several times. The food is good but on the pricey side. There aren't a lot of options for vegetarians, but I have had them "vegetarian-ize" things for me before without problem or complaint. The bar is great - my friends and I wanted a specialty drink that wasn't on the menu and they made it perfectly and gave us a great price! When my parents came out to visit a few years ago, we went here. My dad complains about every place we ever eat. Seriously, he will find SOMETHING to complain about everywhere - the napkin isn't big enough, or there is too much food, or he didn't like that the salad didn't have baby spinach in it. It drives me nuts! This is the ONLY place we have EVER gone where he didn't complain about one thing. NOT ONE THING. So that was amazing in itself right there.

My wife's vaguely orange scented undercooked salmon was a disaster, we just sent it back. My Chicken Marsala was hot at least, but unseasoned. Nice servers.

we came for our anniversary on a whim and we literally could not stop eating. The atmosphere is comfortable and easy going. The restaurant is clean. The staff is beyond personable. And the food.... The food was indescribably amazing. My fiancé was a chef for 15 years, so food has become a religion to us. I could talk all day about the art that was their St. Louis ribs. The deep fried artichokes were to die for. And really everything we got was incredible. This is a hidden gem in plain view.

We had a faboo meal at Camp Robber last night!! There were so many items on the menu that we wanted to try - alot of familiar dishes, but with interesting twists or unexpected ingredients. My mom had the tomato bisque soup and raved about it, while I had a side salad with the most amazing peach margarita dressing. Seriously, I wanted to drink it. We both had the special which was a chicken breast on ginger rice with a fresh pineapple salsa. The portion was just fine, but it was so good, I think I could have eaten another plate! Everyone we dealt with was super nice and chatty, giving us some insight into life in Montrose. We were just traveling through and probably won't find ourselves nearby anytime soon, but, if we do, we will definitely be back to Camp Robber.

Thank you Yelp! We wouldn't have found this gem without you! The chicken pistachio salad is gluten-free and fabulous! The beer-battered chili rellenos were unique and delicious. Travelers, don't miss this one!

Dinner tonight...it's always so nice to be greeted with a smile that won't quit....very welcoming and two for two on being greeted this way. The great thing about Camp Robber is the vast menu...something for everyone. Tonight we dined on the Orange Ancho Salmon, which was was perfectly prepared. Love that slightly crispy roast from the oven and juicy tender inside. With fresh lemon and orange it was simply delicious with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh green and yellow beans, still with a bit of a crunch even after the sauté. My companion had the famous pistachio chicken salad...I had it for lunch earlier in the week....she seemed to enjoys her selection as her plate was pretty much clean. A couple glasses of Kendall Jackson Chardonnay and the evening was complete. Heading back to L.A. tomorrow...and will miss Montrose and its cute hometown feel.

We ate here five years ago and thought the meal was great. We returned the other day and our lunches were great again. We started with the salsa sampler. I really liked the Cheese salsa. Partner had the enchiladas with posole. I had the green chili and potato soup and salad. It was all delicious and very fresh. Our service was very good. We even had a short chat with one of the owners. Cant wait to return.

Nice patio, good food, good drinks. Had salsa sampler, crab cake, house salad, and a pork entrée. Margarita & peach long island ice tea to drink. All good w/ friendly, prompt service from Linda - thank you!

Walked in around 7:30 on a Saturday night and while it was busy there was no wait for us to get in. The menu has a good variety without suffering from being too large. We stuck to a wrap and the Mexican plates which were reasonably priced. Portion sizes were appropriate and very tasty. The side of posole was a pleasant surprise and something different than I normally see. The rolls that came around were very interesting and fun. I believe that they had some chillies in them, I just wish we were given more. The only downside to the entire experience is that the service was a little slow. Waitstaff was great, just took a while to get the food then get out. If I'm in Montrose again I'll be coming back.

Not a fan went several times and it just wasn't the "oh I gotta go back" kind of experience. Food was ok, prices reasonable, staff was friendly, and atmosphere was average.

It didn't take too long for us to get our entrees, yet the service seemed slow because our waitress rarely checked on us. I had the Sonoran steak pasta and it was awesome. Husband had steak with spinach ravioli and a salad. He liked it but said it definitely wasn't worth $26. He also had a strawberry lemonade and didn't like it at all. The rolls that came with the meal were AMAZING! They only give you one tiny roll per person though. We should have asked for more, but our waitress took so long to check on us and when she did check on us, she was always hurrying away. So we didn't ask for more. We came in at 7 pm and had to wait 25 minutes to be seated, so try going early if you want to avoid a wait. I gave this place 4 stars solely for the food. The service wasn't good and even though the food tastes great, I don't think it's exactly worth how expensive it is to dine here.

I hate to be a wet blanket among all these positive reviews, but Camp Robber easily ranked as the most mediocre dining experience we had in eight days of travelling around Colorado. Luckily, it was one of the first meals of the trip, which ended up featuring a lot of good eating. Camp Robber is one of those restaurants that tries to tackle too extensive a menu--a variety of bar-food apps, big salads, pasta dishes, New Mexican, sandwiches and burgers, grilled meat and fish dishes--and probably does only a couple of things well. Unfortunately, those were not the things we tried. I had a smoked-brisket enchilada plate with both red and green chile sauce. It sounded great on paper, i.e.,the menu. But it was pretty horrible on the plate: rather tough blue corn tortillas, and the chile sauce was barely detectable. Worst of all, the brisket itself was a disaster, tough Steakums-like texture and barely identifiable as beef, let alone did it have any smoky flavor. Maybe it's only my own ignorance of New Mexico cuisine (or maybe the proprietors'), but "cheesey posole" was a disappointment as a side. I was expecting a succulent, meaty stew, but this was just hominy covered in a peppery melted cheese. Certainly edible, but quite simplistic. The wife ordered a trout special that was competently cooked, but little more. It was basically a banquet-quality entree. The decor and lighting seem a little clunky. The service was competent. No disrespect meant to the Good Citizens of Montrose, including those who own and work at this restaurant. We just didn't enjoy our food very much.

This is one of the better restaurants in Montrose, though it's not a field crowded with serious contenders, to be clear. Stylistically, the restaurant is unsure what it's about. There are occasional touches of what might be considered a western aesthetic, but much of the interior descends to the level of the diner, with linoleum in the tables, a cheap short-rug floor, and non-descript, mostly blank walls that not only continue the bland feel of the exterior, but similarly blow a fine opportunity to create meaningful design and ambience. The booth lighting should be considered by anyone contemplating a career in interrogation. The salmon, as one might expect so far inland, was perhaps a bit overcooked (and no options were given), but was topped with a nice pesto and chipotle sauce. A side of vegetables was waxy and tasteless. The hominy, which the menu calls posole, was stripped-down in taste but not bad to my palate; my gourmet mother thought the texture unpleasant and suggested some sauce or cheese to add real flavor. I understand the service is generally quite good here.

We had the Camp Robber cater our recent wedding in Telluride. They came highly recommended and their prices were beyond competitive. We were impressed that as a caterer, they provide plates (reusable heavy-duty plastic), real silverware, drinkware, etc. included in the catering contract. THAT, in and of itself, saved us a ton of money. And then we met with them to discuss our vision, what kind of food we wanted, how it would work, etc. and we were really happy. Kim, the co-owner was very gracious and enthusiastic and we felt comfortable talking budget with her while wanting the very best for our guests. We had about 130 guests at our wedding for a heavy hors d'ouvres buffet (carving station, many hot dishes, passed appetizers, etc). and were very happy with the food. Everything seemed fresh, made for our event and to the quality we expected. While we, the bride and groom, didn't eat much at the event, everyone else seemed to love it. We had eaten in the restaurant a few times, but did not have a tasting leading up to the wedding, so we were happy with the results. If we were to do it again, we would have insisted on a tasting-- but it wasn't offered when we worked with them to arrange details. In addition to the extensive food offerings on the buffet and passed, we had Camp Robber do a dessert buffet to augment the wedding cake. Again, we wish we had done a tasting because in reality we should have skipped the desserts and added more savory foods. The desserts were nothing special-- and many were leftover. Overall, however, we were thrilled with the Camp Robber for our wedding caterer. They showed up on time, did a great job, did not run out of food, kept the reception venue tidy and cleaned up completely before they left. Kim and Bill (and the event manager Kim who ran our event) were awesome and we'd highly recommend them in the future!

Travelling with a dog, it's hard to find good places to eat with patios that allow dogs. This place looked interesting, and turned out great for us. The staff was very nice, allowed us to bring our dog through a back gate to the patio. There was only one other family dining there, maybe because there was live music playing inside, where most people were sitting. Anyway, there were lots of intriguing choices for vege-fish eaters on the menu, and we chose beer battered shrimp and a black bean tostada salad. The food was very good, it's basically New Mexico style southwest cuisine, and lots of it. The portions were large and the prices reasonable. The patio was very nice, it's fenced in so no street view, with a little grass area. There is a parking lot out back. Overall, I think I'd go back if I was in the area again.

Nothing to write home about. The service was very good however. I asked the server about the BBQ cooker that was outside and how often they cook ribs. She didn't have an answer but said the ribs were really good. Ok...so I ordered them. They had no flavor except for the BBQ sauce that was brushed on top before serving. The vegetable side dish was yellow and green beans which came out luke warm as so did the ribs. Overall taste of everything was just average. A little pricey for average tasting food. I dined on an early Saturday night around 5:30pm and it was about half full with senior citizens. That usually tells me that food served has no flavor and is bland. This was definitely the case. The place did fill up with some younger people. I had the ginger rice as a side dish and didn't even taste any ginger in it. It was very dry too. Two bites and I was done with it.

Use to be good. Now they charge a lot and give you vet little food. Pasta dish is a joke. They could add another dimes worth of pasta and woukd then be a bowl instead of cup

This was an interesting stop for us. We were heading through Montrose and were needed a place to eat, but I also needed a place to do some work, so wifi was a must. After doing a quick search on the yelp app, Camp Robber came up as an option. We called to verify the wifi, and off we went. We over shot our entrance the first time, as it is a little tricky to get into, but once were were there we were pleasantly surprised by all. The menu is HUGE, its like reading a Dickens Novel. If there isn't something on it that looks good, you are on some form of starvation protest diet. They have everything from mexican to italian. They have a decent wine list and a decent beer list. The atmosphere is difficult to capture in words, but it felt like a fancy midwestern diner to me. Very cozy and booth focused, without feeling cheap. The wifi signal was great, and allowed me to get a lot of work done, and the food was also great. Very yummy green chili. I had pork loin, my wife had fish and shrimp. Both were very tasty. We aren't in Montrose a ton, but it is safe to say we are fans of Camp Robber and will stop in again when we are.

The menu is crazy. They literally have everything, which was pretty nice. Be prepared for an extensive local beer list and some super-friendly servers. I had the cheese/chile enchiladas and loved every bite. The chiles were roasted in house and had a very distinct flavor. The portion was gigantic, but I mustered up the courage to finish it. All in all, this was a great stop on my cross-country road trip. Definitely check this place out.

I want to give 3.5 stars. I like this place and will go back. It has an average menu so everyone in your party will find something they like. The service was good too. Prices are good. I say give it a go because there are not many choices near by. If you are Paleo there are salads and fish options.

  • Tanner C.

The reason why I give it such a low rating is because it's overpriced. They use fresh ingredients and that's wonderful. However you shouldn't have to pay a $5 premium for that. Plus the portions are small. Every time I eat there I leave hungrier than I came in.

Honestly this place is pretty cutesy. The servers are dressed up like they are at a Hawaiian luau and they encourage diners to dress up as well by giving them a free cocktail if they come dressed up. The food is regular restaurant fair. Salads, sandwiches, seafood, Mexican food, and house made desserts. I got the crab cakes to start. Very deep fried. The crab on the inside was actually a dark brown from the oil. Still tasty cause...what is deep fried and DOESN'T taste good. I got the ahi tuna salad for my entree. I really wished they had spring mix or spinach for an option for their salads. The tuna was a good sized portion but it was extremely rare in the middle. I like it that way but others might not so just a warning. Both things tasted MEH....honestly probaby on par with Applebees or some other restaurant chain...nothing special. That is, nothing special until I had their dessert. Best dessert ever. I had the fudgey banana chocolate cake. The chocolate ganache was rich and had a deep chocolate flavor. The banana filler between the layers of the cake was almost pudding like! The cake was moist and the banana sauce that was drizzled over it was creamy and added another sweetness factor to the whole thing. If you do NOT like sugary stuff, skip this..but for my chocolate and dessert loving heart, it was perfect. My advice is to skip the meal and just order dessert to go here.

I was ordering food for six people during a training session. The staff was very helpful as I had never eaten here before. For food we settled on steak and chicken enchiladas and quesadillas as well. For sides we chose rice and the cheesy rice (I can't remember the name). The food was al delicious and everyone was very glad that we ordered from Camp Robber. Even the trainer who is visiting from Canada was glad. He had been there previously and was very pleased with the service for their dinner menu as well. I'll definitely be going back. I was also there just after they opened, so there wasn't much going on.

I was not impressed. We sat at the bar and the bartender was nowhere to be found during most of the meal. She forgot to bring my orange juice but charged me for it anyway. I had the Mexican Hash, which was bland and overpriced. She brought the check and disappeared for ten minutes.

You know how sometimes you are handed a well-laminated menu, open it up to see three pages that cover the span of just about every cuisine possible, and you just know what the food is going to be like? Yep, that's Camp Robber. It was mediocre at best. Salsas, chips, green chile were subpar, while the club sandwich and fries were decent. And -1 star for not warning that if we chose to be seated outdoors, there was going to be a sad freakin' guitarist singing 10 feet away (and while we appreciate his efforts, it was so not our thing...).

The pork medallions were overcooked and dry for a house favorite and not really good. Get the chile relleno. Ahi salad was nice. Fun little band on the patio made it nice. I forgive them for the pork and they really deserve a 4 or 5.

We love this area of Colorado and travel here several times a year. We have been eating at the Camp Robber since it was located downtown. This is one of my favorite restaurants. It consistently prepares wonderful dishes. The staff are always nice, even when they are busy. I recently started eating gluten-free and they have a separate menu for these selections. The gluten-free dishes were great from the orange basil vinegarette to the flour-less chocolate ganache cake!

Staying in Montrose there wasn't a whole lot of great food choices, but luckily we stubbled into Camp Robber. We ate here 3 times while we were here. The first time was the absolute best. I ordered the pistachio chicken salad served in a whole avocado on a bed of greens. It was superb. Merle had a chile relleno that was served with posole that we couldn't get enough off. The service was great. The food was hot and very flavorful and we left wishing we had this place in Denver. The second time was a bit more lackluster. The food while still good wasn't as good as the time before and the service was lazy. We figured it was an off night. This time I had the relleno and it was served luke warm. :( The last day we were there we went for Sunday brunch. It wasn't my favorite of the visits, but considering the other choices in Montrose this place still shines. I will also say I did enjoy how nice they were to my 16 month old. It's a nice place to go and we will go back the next time we visit Montrose.

I love Camp Robber. I travel to Montrose to work quite frequently and eat here nearly every time. The food really is wonderful. I haven't eaten everything on the menu and really enjoy the basil salmon (comes with a baked potato, which means I can splurge on a yummy dessert). The ahi tuna salad is also super good as well as the queso dip. Kind of a diverse menu, which I love because I know I'll get really great service no matter what I'm in the mood for. Their wine selection is wonderful. I have had the opportunity to speak with Kim several times, who is one of the owners. She always recognizes me and welcomes me back, which means a lot to someone who is hyper-focused on client service. Last time I was in Montrose, I was running late from work and called to see if it was too late to order take-out. The kitchen was closed and instead of making me feel like "that guy", the hostess asked me if I could hold while she checked to see if the chef could whip something up for me. I felt so special, And full:)

We were passing through town, heading for Durango. We needed a place to stop for lunch. It took a little bit to have our food to arrive but when it did most if not all enjoyed what they got. From a salad perspective every salad seemed very fresh and the dressings were very tasty (orange basil vinaigrette or strawberry vinaigrette). The chipotle chicken potato soup was very good almost like a stew - filling. Sever was very pleasant and courteous.

This is the best restaurant in Montrose. We come a few times a month and have never been disappointed. Their Sunday brunch is fantastic. They provide a big basket of delicious quick breads for an appetizer, have a great special quiche each week, and even have some good lunch options if you aren't a huge bfast fan. Other meals are great too. The pistachio shrimp is excellent. The prices are reasonable. Only complaint is that sometimes service is a bit slow, but all things considered, blows the other restaurants in town out of the water.

Camp Robber has been a community standby for quite some time, and over the years, they have kept a consistent product, slightly above average service, and a clean, modern atmosphere. Their menu is standard American fare with just enough uniqueness to distinguish them from the flocks of locally owned American family restaurants. That is to say that their burgers, sandwiches, salads, pasta, Tex-Mex, and some creative specials are all a step or two above what you might expect. Their Sunday brunch is probably their crowning achievement, with wonderful waffles and pancakes, delectable crepes, quiches, Bene's, platters, fresh fruit, and more. Whether you lunch, brunch, or dine, you will be pleased, even impressed by the whole package resented at this fine establishment.

I absolutely LOVE this place! The menu is wonderful and creative, the food is abundant and never fails to please, and the service is usually amazing. My boyfriend and I frequently go here, and we are never disappointed. I would highly recommend the firecracker shrimp appetizer. Also, the Sunday brunches are amazing. They start you off with free pumpkin, banana, and lemon bread slices, and the menu is to die for. I had the green chile, ham, and cheddar quiche this morning, and it was wonderful! If you are looking for a variety, Camp Robber is a great way to find it. There is adventurous food as well as normal American food. I highly recommend this if you are looking for a place in the Montrose area.

I was working in Montrose for an entire week and found a few decent restaurants in this small valley with a population of ~25,000. I was in the mood for a decent filet mignon and Camp Robber was recommended by one of the locals working at the hotel I was staying, so I decided to check it out. I believe it was a Wednesday night, and the place was not too terribly busy. The hostess sat me immediately and the waitress was very friendly and prompt. The menu seemed to have many Mexican-American inspired dishes, but I opted for a cup of their house green chile chicken soup for an appetizer and the bacon-wrapped filet mignon with rosemary glaze dinner with vegetables (asparagus and pea pods) and changed the standard baked potato to their ginger rice, because it sounded like it would be very tasty. The soup was delicious, as I found myself finishing it in what seemed to be less than a minute. I cleansed my palette between each spoonful with gulps of New Belgium's Fat Tire Ale. It had just the right amount of heat, the chicken was moist, and it was garnished with a dollop of sour cream and a couple tortilla chips. Anything with sour cream gets praise from this big fella! I ordered the only Pinot Noir on their wine list to accompany my filet and was pleasantly surprised with it. My steak was cooked to perfection (medium rare) and was covered in a rosemary glaze. The glaze was OK, but I am not sure if the steak would be better with or without it. The vegetables were well seasoned and tasted great together with a bite of the meat. The rice was OK, but I just didn't taste the ginger at all which disappointed me. Regardless, if I were to be stuck in Montrose for another week I would most likely return to Camp Robber for another meal.

The best green chile soup ever! On occasion I swing by and pick up a quart for dinner and it always comes with two large, fresh, tortillas as well as tortilla chips. They also have a great little bar area and very yummy appetizers.

What a find! We had been staying in the Dolores/Cortez area and the food was mediocre at best, really poor was the standard. Stopped at Camp Robber when going through Montrose and wished this was closer to the Cortez area were I will be moving. The food was great starting starting with the deep fried poblano strips which were nicely battered and crispy but the best part was the dipping sauce, you could eat anything covered in that sauce but why use anything else when you have those lightly battered poblano strips. I am a Chili relleno snob so I was a little worried about what I would get after my Cortez experience but they were very good. Just as advertised, fresh hand battered peppers deep fried to perfection with geen chili smothering them. The best surprise was the cheesey posole side that came with the plate. Yum! My wife got the prime rib french dip which was very good but I think it is harder to screw up a prime rib french dip sandwich, it should be good, but I also have no doubt a restaurant in Cortez/Dolores could find a way to screw it up.

Went there last night with my wife and daughter. Were seated right away by friendly hostess and within seconds our waitress came by. Restaurant was Not overly busy however they we're pretty full. From the appetizers to the dessert everything was cooked to perfection and the vegetables were tasted very fresh. I had the rib eye with blue cheese cooked to perfection. My wife had the chipotle wrap and my daughter had a buffalo burger. All of us were very happy at the same restaurant which doesn't always happen. The best part was our service. I eat out a couple times a week in a metro area. The waitress we had was the best waitress I have had in years. I don't remember her name but she had an asian word tattooed on her right arm. I will eat at camp robber anytime I am in Montrose. Well worth the trip.

I've been coming here for years especially for the Sunday brunch. The waffles are the BEST and are crispy, I recommend the cinnamon butter with it. The "benies" are a new addition to the menu. I've tried the crabby bene and it was delicious! Lunch and dinner are consistently good. I can't remember ever having poor service here. A must stop for Montrose!

This was the first place we headed when we moved to Montrose for the summer. Although it was decent, I've quickly learned that there are many other options I'd rather go than here. The food was okay, the service was okay, and the decor was okay. All around, a decent place, but for my money I'd rather go to many other places in Montrose

After getting two very enthusiastic recommendations for this place, I had to try it during a brief visit to Montrose. This place has a great menu. There are so many choices that it was difficult to decide what to try. My favorite part of the meal was the appetizer--fried poblano pepper strips with a yummy queso/salsa. What a treat! They had just the right amount of spice. For dinner, I had spinach and black bean enchiladas, which were very tasty. Both the green and red chile were good. The rice was made with lots of ginger--what an interesting twist. I wish that I'd saved room for a house made dessert. They have a ton of options. There was live music in the bar too.

Talked to some locals and the first restaurant they mention is Camp Robbers. They are right, very nice place with a great vibe. The owners are always in the restaurant, visiting tables and making sure things are right. Always a good sign. The food was great, we had the pork with pistachio chile coating, salmon, spicy shrimp and the ribs. Everyone was happy with the selection and portion sizes. We kind of made up our own combinations of meat, vegetable and starch and they happily accommodated us. The deserts were wonderful too! All are made onsite and the peanut butter pie was delish.

OK place. Good selection of wine and beers. Ordered a shrimp appetizer that was supposed to be spicy, but instead was bland. Had a chocolate flourless cake that was good, but good in that it was milk chocolate tasting. I wish it was a darker chocolate. I would have to go again as I did not order dinner. Just appetizers and desert.

Camp Robber is by far the best restaurant in town! The happy hour menu is awesome, the food is always delicious, and the desserts are always delightful. I am constantly impressed with their everyday new specials and great service. I definitely recommend the Camp Robber to everyone I know!

This wonderful restaurant has moved to 1515 Ogden Road, Montrose CO 81401. We have eaten there whenever we are in town and have never been disappointed. Tonight I had one of the specials, which was ribeye steak with crabmeat and an asiago cheese sauce. It was wonderful! My daughter swears by the sirloin steak over pasta with a chipotle cream sauce! This is a place that is definitely worth a stop!
