It's very rare that I write a review on yelp, but I couldn't resist in this case. We went in yesterday as a family of 11 people. From the moment we walked in the door we weren't treated well. Immediately inside the door is a sign that says "Parents: respect other diners! Control your children. Children running through restaurant will be asked to leave." I was so shocked by this I ended up secretly snapping a picture of it. We were all so shocked - what restaurant establishment actually puts that on their Welcome Sign??!! My poor 10-year-old son, who plays by the rules, was so scared to sit down we considered leaving. We also had two other kids at the table and we were all extremely nervous that a child might actually speak and be heard, or...worse yet...not place their napkin neatly in their lap! The woman who greeted us (sister #1?) rudely told us there was no way they would serve us given that we were a party of 11. She said they would have to serve us in stages, which we agreed to, no problem. But before she suggested to do this, she consulted another woman in the restaurant (presumably sister #2?), and it was very uncomfortable for us as we were standing there waiting to see if we were going to be allowed in or not. When it was finally determined that we could stay, sister #2 turned around no less than 4-5 times and literally GLARED at our table...giving us the look of death. I don't get angry easily, yet this woman was unbelievable. I had to bite my tongue and not approach her to confront her on her rude behavior. It was like something out of a movie. We're a nice looking group, too!! We were all showered and prettied up for a day of travel - it wasn't as if we were buck-naked or all dirty from excessive camping. So...wtf!! The atmosphere is cute enough, and there was one young woman who delivered our waters and took our drink order and she was fantastic and extremely pleasant. However, the behavior of some of the other staffers was so awful I can't give it more than two stars. If you have a group of no more than 4 people, or...God forbid...have children in your family, you may want to think twice (or 5 times) before entering this establishment.

These people obviously have no clue what the term "gastropub" actually means. Fine dining? This? Really? REALLY?! Wait staff was incredibly rude and gave short answers. Food was lackluster at best. Won't be coming back.

Ate there with two other friends. We were all pleased with our lunches, each different. Loved my burger, one friend loved her crepes, can't remember what my third friend had but I know she enjoyed it as well. Pleasant atmosphere too. We'll be back!

Unreal. Truly disappointing service, and menu that thinks more highly of itself than the kitchen can deliver. Felt as though I was at a restaurant that just opened and was trying to find its groove. Took forever to get seated (which seems like a common complaint), and there were TWO tables occupied! I'm told they a really a breakfast place (maybe a name change wd be in order?). Let's give them one star in the hopes that they can execute breakfast with some competence, bcuz they fail elsewhere. You can do better almost anywhere in town.

This place has a crazy five page menu and it reads like the start of an amateur sex novel with lots of innuendo. We were greeted by a young lady who got our drink order, which was served by another lady. The second lady got our food order and service kinda went downhill from there. The food was great. Partner had fried beans, which tasted just like TGI Fridays and turkey sandwich. I had flatbread with pesto, tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. Pesto had no flavor. The sweet potato fries that accompanied my sandwich were crisp and flavorful. But we were never seen by waitstaff until end of meal when our check was brought to the table. I would have liked another drink and Partner would have liked another beer. The room was not full and there was no excuse for lack of service.

Had the Ptarmigan Burger and it was excellent. Burgers are giant, fried pickles, fried okra, fried green beans and french fries were all fabulous !!!

Terrible service, not a kid-friendly (or anyone friendly) menu. Rewrite your menu so it isn't so gross, and hire some competent staff!

They have odd hours so be sure to check they are open. They have really good Latte. Also some specialty chai tea with amaretto. I had a fantastic omelette with asparagus. They have a good lunch menu also. Lots of salads and sandwiches. The prices seem reasonable also. I say give the place a go! The ladies that own it are very nice too.

Nice welcome by owner. So much potential here but deeply fell short in quality and service. Suggest having knowledgeable wait staff, cleaning the duct work, and cutting the menu by 75%. Nice concepts but a smaller menu with fresher options done well would be welcome rather than using so many preprepared and frozen foods. Do a better job with a few great dishes rather than a huge menu missing the mark on all of them. Would love to see them succeed but they never will with poor quality food and service. Great menu doesn't cut it.

So I though I would give this place another try, and this time for my favorite meal of the day....BRUNCH! We got there at 10:50am and was told that there was going to be a 10 min wait before we could order because they were switching the grill over from breakfast to lunch. Fair enough, I was with my best friends and we were full of good stories. 10 min turned into 37, and we placed our order. Took another 30 for our food arrived (we had sandwiches) and the food was decent. While we were eating the lunch rush came...and it was painful to watch all the other people waiting. two tables left and it was kinda awkward. With all the good places to eat in Montrose I doubt I will be back again.

Although the server tried her best, nothing about our dining experience was even acceptable. The server gave us options that ended up being unavailable almost an hour later. Yes, an hour. Two of us chose a biscuit for our bread option and 50 minutes later we were informed that they were out of biscuits. The tables where only 1/4 full (not busy at all) and it took over an hour to get basic breakfast staples such as omlettes, French toast, and scrambled eggs. The omlettes were edible, the French toast just barely, and the scrambled eggs were barely cooked. Total waste of time (lots of it) and money (not expensive but a waste none the less). And who makes French toast without powered sugar?

My husband and I heard that this place just opened and decided to give it a try. Upon entering we were left standing and wondering if it was self seating until we flagged down a waitress. I heard others ask the same thing upon entering while we were eating. It was packed so service was slow. The menu is varied and creative. One complaint would be that each section of the menu has a daily special which are not yet implemented. Removing those from the menu until they have them would reduce confusion and disappointment. My husband had the pot pie and liked it but the potatoes were a little underdone. I had the Colona which was tasty though they put it on the wrong bread. Overall the experience was fair but i believe this place will be great once it gets past getting the hang of being newly open. Also, they don't serve alcohol yet since they are waiting on their liquor license.

Four stars for the food, zero stars for the wait and service. The restaurant only had 4 full tables plus ours (and 2 waitresses on duty plus a third woman we presumed to be an owner, and a busboy) when we arrived on a Sunday morning for brunch, but it took almost 90 minutes for us to get our food. The wait is more of a kitchen than waitstaff problem, so we didn't blame her for that, but she was horrible. We had to point out our choices on the menu for her, because she had no idea what was what nor could she remember what sides we had to choose from. During the 90 minute wait, she checked on us perhaps once, choosing instead to wander around looking baffled. When our food finally arrived, we asked her repeatedly for condiments and finally had to get up and find the other waitress to ask her instead. When we left, she bumbled her farewell and told us she didn't know if it was morning or afternoon. This is a very new restaurant, if they want to make it they desperately need to get their kitchen running more efficiently and train - or upgrade - their staff. I've been there twice and the food was good both times, but certainly not great enough to put up with poor service and hour long waits.

They were extremely rude to me when I came in and asked about their menu. They made me feel like I wasn't welcome at all because of the way I looked. I felt uncomfortable being on their establishment despite my numerous attempts to smile and ask friendly questions to start a dialogue. :(

So glad we stopped here. Amazing ambiece-an old wooden church. And a menu written with the help of a titillating romance novel. But best of all great service and wonderfully yummy food. A real gem in montrose.

Ignore the bad reviews. If you don't try this place, you'll be missing out. Disclaimer: I've only been here for breakfast, but it's now my favorite breakfast spot in town, hands down. Been here several times now. The food is simply awesome. I've never had a bad meal here. The menu has a ton of choices, enough to please almost anyone. Both traditional fare and unique options (think omelettes with shrimp scampi, or salmon crepes) are available. The menu is so expansive, you might get lost in it. That's not a bad thing. Oh...and the coffee is very good. That's a big plus. This place is in an old church, and the ambiance is great. Nice and relaxing. The menu is worded...umm...differently, but it's just part of the experience. Its actually quite amusing. The service is good. Coffee topped off frequently, otherwise they stay out of the way so you enjoy your meal. Perfect! If you want Denny's, then go to Denny's. If you want something different (and better), come here. This is the anti-Denny's. And it's damn good.

This is a wonderfully quirky place, the server had been there 4 months and knew nothing of the menu. Of course the breakfast menu is a dizzying 5 page listing of tantalizing choices from southwestern benedicts to breakfast enchiladas and a bevy of scrambles, sandwiches and sweets, so it's hard to blame her. That aside, The food is inventive and delicious. The atmosphere, a retired church, is relaxed and quaint with local art gracing the walls. Brunch on the weekends keeps us coming back. Definitely worth a stop.

We ended up walking out after sitting twenty minutes without anyone taking our order. The menu was borderline offensive with sexual references. I don't like thinking about bodily functions when deciding what to eat. Waitstaff wandered aimlessly as we waited. Overall a great disappointment.

What a gem. We both had a specialty sandwich for lunch and were really happy with the quality of the food. Our service was outstanding, and the history of the owner and the building was interesting. We will definitely eat there again when passing through.

We loved the food. Service was prompt and waitress was friendly. Everything was perfect and delicious. Best stuffed baked potato I've had in a long time. Fries were excellent. Everything tasted fresh and made from scratch. BUT: I think I know why the place is dead and they don't seem to be doing much business (meanwhile the brewery down the street is hopping) The terms "Gastropub" connotes BEER. They have about 4 beers on draft and 8 in the bottle. All of which you could pick up from the local Safeway. If they want to be called a pub, they should really carry Colorado craft beer. There are so many great microbrewers in Colorado, it's a shame they don't offer any. Also, the decor is kind kitschy, more "farmhouse craft" sort of decorations. Stuffed frogs and rabbits, tablecloths made from fabric you'd make a quilt with. This is fine. But also not really fitting with the name "gastropub." If this place wants to stick with the farmhouse chic decor and keep the selection of beer they have, they should really just call it a "cafe." It seems like people go in expecting craft beer and get disappointed when they don't find any. In summation, to the owner(s): 1. either change the name so it doesn't have "pub" in it. It creates an expectation you don't deliver OR 2. add more craft beer to the menu and "pub" up the decor a bit (farmhouse chic just doesn't fit) The food is great and you can't beat the location or building (a neat old church with beautiful stained glass window). A few tweaks and this place would be as busy as the brewery down the road. I would come back again just for the fried pickles alone.

Not impressed with the menu at all. Salad was painfully lackluster. The amount of veg for the cost was unimpressive. You start out with a bowl of lettuce and pay for each vegetable you want to add. The burgers looked really good but I'm gluten free so I didn't get one. I did try the fries and they were decent. Overall I'd say "schmeh."
