Wow, this place is incredible. I was at Longmont for business and stumbled upon this place via Yelp. The owner is very friendly and helpful. I was skeptical about the "best" awards they had won, but I was gladly proven wrong. Their sandwiches, simple but delicious, are very affordable and tasty. I can't say enough good things about their mac&cheese and their pies. Their pies are melt in your mouth, mindblowingly awesome. A must try for those who are looking for local eateries.

Friendly service. Scrumptious Roast Beef Po-boy. Tasty chicken salad sandwich and wholesome chicken noodle soup. Delicious homemade chocolate pie. Solid hometown diner. Great local spot!

So, this is tough, because as others have pointed out, the service is delightful. It's hard to be hard on nice people. That being said... Longmont Yelpers, you are killing me. First was the diner on Main with dozens of 4+ star reviews that was absolutely wretched, and now this. There's nothing "bad" really about L&L, but it's like the cafeteria at a senior center (Seriously. I think Moses was at the table next to us complaining about the Saltines being spicy). I just don't get how you could be "excited" about eating anything here, except maybe to satisfy a pang of nostalgia for lunch at your Nana's house, which hey, we all get sometimes, so you know, there's that. Again, the people who run it are so, so nice, so I apologize to them for not loving their food, and for my snark, but I just think you need set realistic expectations. I do really want to try the Cajun stuff, so I'll update if and when that happens.

First time here and what a great find. It's been there for years but it's tucked back in behind a gas station and, well, I just never went before. My loss. BEST turkey sandwich I've had in a long time. Hot, on a warm, fresh buttery croissant with some wicked cheese combo's and a sauce with a slight tang, but not overpowering. Downright delish. The chicken noodle soup was equally tasty and the potato salad was darned close to as good as mom makes. But what made this for me was the owner. This guy is all over this business. He loves it. He's talking to customers, he's coming over and sitting at my table and chatting with me, he's totally and completely into giving you a great casual lunch experience. And, he's a local family owned business. My favorite kind of restaurant. The only downside here is he only open M-F from 11am to 4pm.

I love, love, love Loaf & Ladle. The owners are friendly and clearly dedicated to achieving 100% customer satisfaction. The soups are of course delicious, as are the various sandwiches I've sampled. There are only two detractions from this place, and since both of them boil down to there not being enough of the good thing that is Loaf & Ladle, I didn't dock them stars for it: * they are not open on weekends. * they only offer 3 soups per day.

I had lunch here today for the first time and am really sad that I never knew about this restaurant sooner. It's family owned, everything is made from scratch and the owners and staff go out of their way to welcome and take care of you. They specialize in soups, sandwiches and pies(had the butterscotch pie which was delicious) but today we lucked out because it's Mardi Gras and their roots are from New Orleans and they also offered quite a few Cajun dishes. I had to go with the shrimp po boy sandwich. The shrimp was done perfectly, the bread was the right density and crunch with all the toppings. I highly recommend this place to everyone. If you crave home-cooked comfort food and love desserts like I do you won't be disappointed. Their prices are incredibly reasonable and the hospitality and food can't be beat. It has become one of my all time favorites.

Ate there for lunch today!!!! Excellent food and service. Just and awesome place with terrific tasting food! The Gumbo, Shrimp Po Boy and the Chicken Pot Pie are the best!!! The prices are great as well. We will be going back often.

Just realized that my original review was filtered, which doesn't make sense, as I was NOT approached to review this place, nor is it a 'solicitation' for some 'other' service. So here I go again, same story, different day! Only thing I'll add is that they need a facebook account that gets updated with the pies on hand! Loaf & Ladle Where simple food is perfected and customer service is excellent! I order lunch weekly -- sometimes more often. I'm not going to lie, the pie selection keeps me coming back! Keep up the good work Loaf & Ladle. My favorites include the egg salad on croissant, Reuben, cream of potato soup, and the Wednesday sandwich of the day -- meatball sub.

It was our first visit to this establishment for lunch today. They had three soups offered upon our arrival at about 12:20. By the time we left about 20-30 mins later, they had removed all but one soup, the clam chowder. My dad got the black bean with lime soup which he said was just okay. I had a reuben sandwich and coleslaw. Again, mediocre and kind of bland. Dad had the 'turkey supreme' sandwich which was far from 'supreme'. It is a down-home place and I like supporting local Longmont businesses but I probably won't go back unless it's for pie. They did look delicious.

The soups here are as good as it gets! I love their black bean and lime, corn chowder, vegetable, cream of broccoli, tomato Florentine, and chili soups! Their Key Lime and Strawberry Yum Yum pies are to die for! Customer base mainly composed of gossipy little old ladies but during the lunch hour has a mix of customers. You can also do take out from a wide range of soups listed and other things. They have great sandwiches and salads too! I give my highest possible recommendation of this place, anyone that does not like this place either has not tried the right thing for them(which is hard to imagine) or they need their head examined.

Really, the only negative about L&L is that they aren't open on the weekends! I would probably come here all the time if they were. I love the classic egg salad sandwich, haven't had a bad soup here either. I always get a couple of pieces of pie to go, and they are always very fresh and delicious. The menu is pretty basic (like the egg salad ) on white bread - it's not fancy, but it's made well and tastes delicious.

This is a Longmont institution! The service is always great - everyone has smiles on their faces and a pleasant attitude. The soup and sandwich selection is great and don't even get me started on the homemade pies!! You won't be disappointed in this Longmont gem!
