If you've ever been here, you'll know that the atmosphere and food is worth stoppin in. The wait staff is AWESOME!! The place gets incredibly busy and their focus is to make you happy! Tammy, Emily, Jen and Lara work their asses off and the bartenders are quick and witty...

Divey bar. Reminded me of college days in Tallahassee. We went during the day. Crap beer selection. NO craft beers were available because they had sold out during the weekend. Boo. Wings were ok, jalapeño poppers were good.

Oh, man. This is going to be fun. The Little Bear had to be one of the strangest places I've ever visited. It was kind of like going down a rabbit hole into another world. We came here for lunch, which I'm assuming is not a peak time here, considering they have a stage and clearly focus on musical acts and lots of drinkable, domestic beer (bud lite, miller lite, etc.) That stuff is for binge drinking on a Friday or Saturday night. Anyway, the place is covered in sharpie, dollar bills and license plates, and no one working there seemed to want to be there or knew how to serve customers. It almost seemed like everyone was hungover. Our main server did tell us that they were short-staffed, and apologized for wait times (which were not actually that long), but the whole experience was just weird. When I asked what they had on tap, he replied, "Beer," with no hint of sarcasm in his voice. Yes, "beer" was his actual answer to what they had on tap. Thanks, dude. There was virtually no selection (see above regarding drinkable, domestic beer), so I ended up drinking water. The food was pretty good despite all the introductory disappointments, although we did order things that are pretty difficult to mess up: mozzarella sticks and burgers. My burger was overcooked (I asked for medium, and there wasn't a spot of pink in that thing) but everyone else's seemed cooked right or slightly under. We all agreed that the food was surprisingly good, but upon further reflection, I think this assessment had more to do with our hunger than the quality of food. I mean, if I'm famished, I might say ramen is delicious, but does that make the ramen delicious? I don't know. I do know that The Little Bear is a weird place, but I bet they bring in cool musical acts.

Good beer, good nachos, great view and the bras from the stage cracked me up! Nothing like a mountain bar to make you feel at home. I recommend trying the Little Bear Red beer on draft if you like trying something new.

Probably some of the worst service I have had in a long time. No apology or accommodation. Don't eat here!

The Little Bear is right in the heart of Evergreen - and a fun divey spot to chill on a Saturday afternoon. We snagged a table about 11:30 and began with bloody mary's which were quite tasty! Their burgers are easily 1/2 pound and delicious! Try the buffalo and also the onion rings. Laid back vibe and super nice staff make for a fun afternoon. Live music is also offered during the day.

Servers? We don't need no stinkin' servers. Yet it looks like at least 2 people have that job. Very enjoyable old rock music. Very cool atmosphere. Would bring out of town guests for rustic mountain atmosphere. Did not like that there is a cover charge to get in to see bands.

I had lived in the mountains for a few years, and can't believe I'd never been to this place before! I finally came out for a Sunny Ledfurd show, and had such a great experience. The drinks were poured strong and very appropriately priced. They didn't have an ATM and didn't take a card for the cover charge, but did allow me to put the cover charge on my bar tab (which they did take cards for.) They have 2 pool tables upstairs AND a foosball table! The upstairs overlooks the stage and gives you such a great view. The wooden log seats give it such an awesome vibe. The sound in this place is amazing. The people that were there made my experience even better - I'm pretty sure most were locals. Didn't try any food there so I can't comment on that. But everything else about the place - top notch. I'll definitley be back.

While the Little Bear is well known for it's great music, my sister, niece and I stopped in there for a bite to eat after a morning of hiking. The place is your typical mountainy joint with dollars on the walls and lots of hand written messages scrawled on the tables and booths by patrons. Ordered the chips and salsa at $6 and I had the bacon guac burger with an Anaheim chile on top. Service was fast and friendly, but when the app came we were a bit taken back that the chips looked homemade while the salsa was like Pace Picante--$6, mind you! It did get better. The burgers were incredible. Hand patted, thick and juicy! The bacon was nice and thick and the chile was roasted and tasty! On the side were hand-cut fries! Little Bear, salsa is cheap and easy to make and makes a better impression than opening a jar. If you go through great lengths with your burgers and fries, homemade salsa would be the icing on the cake for me. If you need me to come in and show ya, I'd be happy to do it!

Great hidden dive bar in the heart of Evergreen. We don't make it up here much, but when we do it's always a great time! They also have excellent live bands play on the weekends!

Absolutely horrible service. We passed through on a Friday at lunch time, and sat down. We were completely ignored for 10 minutes. We finally moved to another table closer to the bar, and finally got someone's attention. After ordering our food and waiting several minutes, the food came, but the server forgot the toppings for my burger. Since she had disappeared (again), I had to go to the bar for them. After waiting several minutes for the check, I finally went looking for the server. She was on the other side of the bar, texting. Our biggest mistake - other than going there in the first place - was leaving a tip .

Surprisingly good food! Rustic transient vibe. My wife and I stopped in for lunch driving through town for a quick bite and were very happy with the taste and portions. Everything is made in-house, including the French fries! Hand packed burgers and Italian sausage hoagies made on premise. The atmosphere looks as if it hasn't been touched since the doors opened 40+ years ago and that's what makes it cool. The furniture and walls are littered with scrawling carved by past patrons. Many of the booth seats look like they've been repaired with duct tape more than once. This is a live music venue but there weren't any acts on stage at about 1 pm which was no big deal to us. Very old building with lots of charm. Would like to come back this summer and enjoy live music.

The Little Bear is an Evergreen staple... That being said, I'm not a huge fan. I've gone several times, mostly on week days, and the things that stand out the most are: The insane cover charges for mediocre bands The bras on the wall The decent drinks The neat old cash register The tourists This is not a "local" hang out and for the most part, you'll find all kinds of tourists here... Which is great, beef up the mountain economy, but with the tourists comes the insane covers... I tend to shy away from this bar on most nights (if I go out) and go to the more friendly, cheaper bar right down the street (Cactus Jacks).

First of all, the town of Evergreen is fun to visit. It is a small, quaint little place tucked into the mountains just outside of Denver. It is a beautiful drive through Morrison or on the 70, so when you drive into the town you are already in good spirits. It would not have taken much to satisfy me food and entertainment wise, but the food, service, and live music that The Little Bear offered was exceptional. I had the cheeseburger, and it was amazing. The homemade chips were a tad burnt, but still had good flavor. The atmosphere was friendly, the service excellent, and the prices were decent. Also, the live music was awesome. Jack Yoder and the Two Piece Suit were playing, and they served up some delicious bluesy tunes. I'll definitely go back here the next time I visit Evergreen.

Lives up to its reputation as one of the wildest bars in Colorado! Great live music and cold beer! Very rustic and old school.... Food is so-so but the rest of the experience makes up for it!!

  • Caitlin R.

The coolest thing about this bar is the atmosphere. Granted we went here on a Thursday afternoon. When you first walk in, you instantly get this old man/old beer/musty smell. But then you check out the bras hanging from the ceiling above the stage and all the carvings in the wood. History: this was an old church converted into a bar. If you go upstairs you'll see the original pews and rafters. Beer: the beer was warmish and served in plastic cups. $4 each.

Huh. How have I not reviewed the Little Bear? I celebrated by 21st birthday there back in the 90's. This place, much to my chagrin, often has a cover charge to support the multitude of bands that come through an play this utterly unique Colorado venue. On the plus side, the cover is usually only like $6 bucks, so no big deal. The building itself is old, and built log cabin style. The stage is the dominant feature, and almost all of the tables are situated around it. There is also balcony seating, if you call it that, on the upstairs level. Very fun place, though bring wet-naps if you are OCD, as there is a slight stickiness to everything here...

  • Laurie L.

Served a too rare, almost raw burger for lunch. Should not have eaten it anyway as I became violently ill within 2 hrs with a bug that lasted 48 hrs. So send back any poorly cooked food here, or skip the food entirely and just enjoy the music and drink. Based on my experience, I would suggest avoiding the beer taps and drinking bottled or spirits...

I love this bar, TONS of history here very cool atmosphere friendly staff do I need to say more ?! Live music and beer and their food is good too! I recommend this place to everyone especially people from out of town. It is a landmark in evergreen.

Do not go here for the food! Music, bar scene fine. But we came in the afternoon for lunch and the food was horrible (and not cheep).

Food was awful. I understand the attraction is the atmosphere but referring to what I am pretty sure was a microwaved cheese sandwich as "gourmet grilled cheese" is just garbage.

Lol...nope, nope...never again. I've been to The Little Bear a few times within the last 20 years so I kind of knew the lay of the land. We went last Sunday (9/6/15) and the place was about 1/2 full. We arrived at around 1 pm and since we hadn't eaten at all that day, we were pretty hungry. My fiance had never been here but had heard of it so he said he wanted to check it out (it was his birthday,soooo...). I've always been kind of 'take it or leave it' about this place, but it was his day, so to The Little Bear we went. We walked around for a couple minutes trying to find a table that looked not only clean, but not crowded up against another table. We found one somewhat near the door, and though it appeared the cleanest, when we sat down I touched the table and it had sticky spots. I look around and we see food on the floor, on a pillar...etc. Ugh. If I hadn't been ready to gnaw off my arm in hunger, I would have insisted on going somewhere else. My fiance looked somewhat wary at this point, but we stayed. The super disinterested waitress came over to take our drink order and dropped off a couple of plastic covered menus. I looked at them with apprehension, as I assumed they would be sticky also. They were not...hallelujah. She dropped off the drinks and we ordered. Then we waited. There was a guy that started playing about 5 minutes after we arrived and he was ok. Kind of John Denver-ish. I actually liked John Denver and his style of music....in 1976. Anyway, on to the food. I ordered the Chicken Tenders, and for some reason I assumed they came with a side of fries or something. My mistake for not knowing this, but I don't think I've ever ordered tenders, and got just tenders. I'm not knocking off any stars for this, as it's my mistake. It just seemed weird. Anyway, the chicken tenders were actually very good. They were a bit dark (maybe the grease was a tad too high), but the chicken was not over cooked. The breading was thin, which I really liked, as I'm not a fan of really thick, crunchy coating on my chicken tenders. My fiance ordered the Patty Melt, and he enjoyed it as well. It came with a side of fries, so I was able to enjoy a few of his fries with my tenders. So the food was ok. Once we finished and our baskets were empty, our waitress came over and asked if we'd like a refill of our diet cokes, which we happily accepted. We also told her that we were ready for our check. We sat and waited a few more minutes, then she came by and picked up our empty baskets. We once again let her know that we were ready for our check. We waited about another 10 minutes...seriously, and she finally dropped our check off. So the service, though friendly enough, was slow. And the place is filthy. Filthy, filthy, filthy. The floors, the tables, the walls. Everything needed a real good scrub down. And it has a stale smell to it. I totally understand that this place is 40 years old and things deteriorate over time. Especially if you have a crowd every night. But that really is no reason to have stuck on food on multiple surfaces of your establishment. Hey 'The Little Bear'...this is some free advice that my parents used to tell me when I was younger. Have some pride in yourself! In other words...put your best foot forward, put forth your best appearance, and don't rest on your laurels. These day's your a tourist attraction more than anything else, so you don't have to put your best foot forward because you probably don't depend on repeat business. But wouldn't you want to have a nice unsticky place? That doesn't smell? Because of the filth and slow service, I'm giving this place 2 stars.

I don't even know how to rate this bar. It's a local favorite. So it's got that going for it. The bar is strewn with woman's bras and all sorts of wild memorabilia on the walls. It's small and dirty and just your typical small mountain local bar. You come for the company and music. Not the food or ambiance. On a good night this place can be packed. With people dancing and getting all sorts of inappropriate on the dance floor. The bands change all the time and they always include all types of music genres. The typical band is usually a known local band, but sometimes they have some bigger names come in. It's the sort of place you enjoy while your there but feel the need to shower immediately after you leave. With lots of soap. Maybe even bleach. (Depends on the night. Who knows.) People rave about the burgers but I prefer to steer clear of the food at all costs.

Food was good, better than most bar food, actually. But on a slow Sunday night, I had to get up from my table more than once to order and receive my food and drinks! Kinda disappointing since I spent over 50 dollars on burgers and beers!

Burgers are awesome! Fries are on point! Bloody Mary is heaven. Skip the wimpy salad. Bands are always amazing

This is definitely my kind of place! This is a bar/music venue with TONS of character. Very rustic. The bar top has been carved into by whomever was last sitting there. You can smell stale beer. There are bras lining the walls, along with historical memorabilia. There are signed headshots of the musicians that have played there. And the drinks are plenty strong! I always feel right at home at a good biker bar... We strolled in here on a Saturday afternoon, shortly after having lunch down the street. There were two guys on stage, playing acoustic guitar, and singing original tunes. We walked up to the bar, grabbed a stool, and chilled out for a while. I saw some of the musicians they host, and it is quite impressive! I can't wait to go back and see an artist that I have on my iPod. Very cool place!

The slowest service I've seen. We got there, a group of 9, starving. It took over an hour to get 9 burguers and they were really so so. The presentation was very messy and the quality... really, don't eat there. It isn't worth it. There are other very good places at Evergreen.

  • Bill B.

I rated it five stars because for what it is, yes, it's as good as it gets. It's a dilapidated, run-down derelict mess of a place where the urinal looks like a horse-trough and there's garbage on the tables and the beer is served in plastic cups. The food is more accurately described as "grub" or "vittles". It's good enough. Applebee's is in Lakewood. Baker Street Pub in Bel Mar is almost as good a pick-up joint, but will have the low-fat faux-cuisine entrees and precision voca-school service that some here obviously treasure. The charm of the Bear is that they just don't give a &$^*, and really, neither should you. I have heard bands there that electrified the crowd. I'm not even talking national names: just local Denver bands that entertained beyond anything I've seen in larger live concerts with "name" bands. The beer and drinks kept flowing, bugers fries and pizzas were served, people danced. Some hooked up and went home. Some stayed and closed down the place, then hooked up and went home. It's a brilliant place that constitutes a life passage for many, and for that reason it is as good as it gets. After all, everyone knows about the Bear.

Used to come here all the time. But now, every time I come the service SUCKS! My order is always wrong so my boyfriend refuses to eat his meal until they bring mine back out corrected. And right now I'm being tortured listening to some new band they've brought in from Idaho Springs - the lead singer (female) must be friends with someone who works here!!! It's really awful!! Not the place it used to be :(

Really bad service! Got there about lunch time on a Saturday. We walked in and there were only a few tables in what seemed to be the main dining area. They were taken, so we went near the stage where live music was being played. It was mellow; just a guy with his guitar. The problem is, nobody ever came to bring menus, take a drink order, nothing. 10 minutes, we figured maybe they just don't serve that area. Went back to the main dining area and found a table had opened up. Then things started moving. Got a menu, drinks, and then placed our order. The food took a little longer than average, but not so long as to be considered unreasonable. After we were brought our food, our waitress never checked on us again. Not to offer a second drink, not to check if everything was ok, not even to bring the check! We had to request our check 4 times! Our baskets were cleared and still no check. When I asked for our check on the 4th time our waitress asked if we knew who our server was! They are disorganized, inattentive, slow, and disrespectful of people's time. The food was ok. Although, I should point out that when ordering "fish and chips", the "chips" should be what we call french fries, instead of something that is more like kettle chips.

Used to be a great local place. Management has reduced it to a tourist trap. Cover charges every night for bands. Went in for Sunday football, a former Lil' Bear tradition, and was greeted by three TVs all playing f'ing TENNIS! No joke, tennis. Waitress said mgmt couldn't figure out the TVs. Yeah because that would be their job, which they clearly aren't doing. They're just coasting on the rep and historic structure of a once great bar. Sad to see.

  • Meredith G.

This review may have gotten 4 stars if the fries lived up to their name- crispy fries. They were soggy. But the burger was 4 star. I enjoyed the patty melt burger that came on thick rye bread that didn't fall apart and had tons of awesome sauteed onions and Swiss cheese. I would go back for the burger if I were in the area. FYI- if you don't like country music, like myself, this might not be your seen. AND if you don't like seeing or HEARING kids in a bar, then this is definitely not your scene either.

  • Amanda M.

2 1/2 stars. Yes, it's a "quaint" mountain bar that has live music, but does that mean it's okay to never, ever, ever clean the place? I went for lunch with the BF and boy was I happy that I wasn't hungry. Just looking at the floors made me itchy. There were pieces of cheese, tortillas and all sorts of food crumbs in every little nook I saw-- and there are a lot of nooks. Really, there was food stuck in the name carvings on the tables. The floor looked as if it hadn't been mopped in decades. The burger he got tasted good, and the fries were okay even though they were a little overcooked. They have good fountain coke if that's what you're into (I am). Next time I want to sit in a filthy bar I'll just sneak a flask into Waffle House and call it a day.

If you're there for a stellar dining experience, someone led you astray. Them thar mtn folk are tricksters, muwahaha. Buffalo steak night isn't bad though. The Bear's an institution, and don't touch that dust! Show respect. Have a whiskey or beer, listen to the bands, and grab some grub to wash your drink down with. Most importantly, get some perspective & relax. There, wud'n that better?

The husband and I stopped in at the Little Bear today after a hike on Three Sisters trail. I was hoping to see the bra I left there 30 years ago. The bra is not there but the Little Bear is still bringing them in. I think my bloody Mary was one of the best I have ever had; there was no fancy buffet on a pick, no fancy vodka, no fancy glass but it kicked my butt with great flavor and lots of vodka, it went well with my classic Little Bear burger. The husband had a green chili strip on his burger; his fries were really good and my Cole slaw was OK. Service was fine and if we would have hung for a few more hours, we could have stayed for the 5:00 happy hour live band. We are enjoying a lot of the hangouts of our youth sans the smoke, the Little Bear is a classic.

Fun atmosphere, friendly service, great wings and good selection of beer on tap! Go during off-peak hours (weekdays during the day) to avoid the crowds if you're not into wild partying and loud, loud music.

  • Tres B.

Midday, I found the kitchen exceptionally slow and the slacker-dude ski bum waiter truly annoying. My burger was exactly average. Nothing special, nothing bad. Reasonably decent. It took me an hour and ten minutes to get and eat my lunch. Way too long at 2pm on a Thursday. BUT, the building itself, old and dark, built with massive wood beams you can no longer find, is definately worth a visit. Up stairs is a catacomb-like balcony of old wood timbers and three pool tables. Its a classic rocky mountain building that should be seen.

DON'T come here for the food!! We went driving around today and initially were going to go to Cactus Jacks, but they had an after wedding party there so it was pretty packed. So, we decided to walk down the street to see what else was around. My bf mentioned The Little Bear was right down the street, so we went in. Definitely a 'bar' scene and not a pub type atmosphere. However, we went upstairs and sat on the porch and watched the cars and people go by. That wasn't bad. What was bad was the service!! Took forever for the waitress to come get our drink order and then to bring it to us was forever! We finally placed our order, my burger was to be medium well and my bf's medium. My daughter had the 10" pizza. A loooooooong time later our food arrived. My fries = pretty disgusting. They were cold and my burger was well done. My bf onion rings = dry, dry, dry... burnt even. My bf burger = BURNT! He asked for medium...this means a little pink in the middle. It was literally black as the Ace of Spades burnt! My daughter's pizza = eh, ok. However, the crust was gross - her words. The waitress never offered us any condiments to go with our burgers and fries. My daughter's cup was empty for the longest time. She ate her whole meal without a refill. Definitely won't go here again.

Saw Opie AGAIN ! Was a nice way to end an era/relationship. The band is missing their bass player...Windall...which is sad. The food this night was fantastic ! The crowd was small, but everyone wanted the food because the man in the kitchen rocked ! I don't know when I will be back, but I will always treasure my "Little Bear" memories. :)

My husband and I stopped in for a beer and to listen to some live music. The server got us a drink right away but never checked back in until we flagged her down to pay. They serve beer in disposable, plastic cups. We got a pitcher of Blue Moon for $9.75 so reasonable pricing. I would have probably giving it another star due to the atmosphere if the server had ever come back to ask if we wanted another drink. Guess if you want something going to the bartender is the way to get it. The atmosphere here is really neat. There is a melting pot of patrons, bikers, hikers, and everything in between. The bar is wood and seems like every surface is written on or carved into. There are bras hanging from the ceiling around the stage. There are license plates all over and for some reason one dollar bills stapled to the walls, which I was going to ask our server about but since she never came back opted out. It was about 3 in the afternoon so the band that was playing was not a headliner so there was no cover to get in. I would classify this as a dive bar with live music. I wouldn't necessarily eat here as the tables are dirty as is pretty much every other surface you look at. Luckily we had just eaten at the winery/deli across the street so we were not hungry and therefore I cannot comment on the food. If I was in the area again I would stop in to listen to the bands and have a beer but wouldn't go out of my way to return here.

Years ago, when I first lived in CO, I would only ever come up to Evergreen to catch a show at The Little Bear and it was always great and always packed. Now 15 years and 4 cities later I am back in Colorado and living within walking distance to The Little Bear. What happened? It's the same 4 or 5 bands in rotation and it is usually nearly empty. It is really sad what this landmark has become. In a town with SOOOO much music The Little Bear could be so much more.

    (2)
  • Stacy B.

Great band playing the night I was there, but the $10 cover and $9.50 pitcher (and this was a couple years ago) means I'd probably return only go if there was a band I really wanted to see.

Seems like everyone knows The Little Bear. I was visiting friends in the area and they suggested getting a drink at their local saloon down on Evergreen's tiny main street. Little did I know their saloon was so well known. You walk into The Little Bear and it looks like a barn - if your barn was covered in roadsigns, carved graffiti and bras of every size and color! They have live music almost every night which is what they are known for. Last Wednesday for a $4 cover we saw Nathan McEuen, the son of John from the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. He was great - amazing guitar, great vocals, and a faux horn section he kind of hummed out himself. Being a Wednesday there were only about 30 people there making it a really intimate performance. Nathan even started coming up with theme music for some folks in the audience for every time they got up from their chairs. The beers were good and reasonably priced. Service was fine. The atmosphere was great. Apparently The Bear gets pretty busy on the weekends with the crowd filling the whole downstairs as well as the second floor balcony. The locals said it gets hard to talk in there on the weekends, but the music is always great. So I leave thinking what a great local saloon. As I traveled around CO over the next week, it seemed like everyone in CO knows The Little Bear and its great reputation for live music. I was feeling pretty lucky to be introduced to it and I'm definitely going to make it a stop on any future visits.

Food was okay, music was okay, cover charge a little high for small bar, especially for early show. I wouldn't go again due to the unhelpful and rude manager. My friend accidentally left her credit card there Friday night, and when we called Saturday we were told that we had to wait and call the next morning at 10 a.m. when the manager came in as she had already left for the day and no one else could open the safe where it was kept. Luckily we were not leaving until Sunday, so we were okay with that. Then we showed up at 10 a.m. the next morning on the way out of town to catch a flight, right when the manager came in, and she said she couldn't help us until an hour and a half or so. Refused to open the safe for us! Did not care that we were leaving town, was downright rude. So we had to leave without the card and my friend had to cancel it. What if it had been a drivers license that would have been needed to fly? Due to the manager, I would not go back, and I would refer anyone I know to go someplace else..

The Little Bear is one of two places in the Denver area that when you mention you are going there, the response is always "Ohh, The Little Bear!" The other is the Bucksnort, also in the mountains outside Denver. The food here is marginal - basic bar food. The bar is fully stocked and there is a wide variety of beer. The decor is mountain funky, and the stage is decorated with a wide assortment of bras. The most amazing thing about this place is the musical talent it attracts. They have some of the best bands in town on any given night, but you need to come early - there can't be more than a hundred seats in the whole place.

I really would like to give a better review, but could not find any especial. I stopped by for lunch after hiking in the area. I have a buffalo burger which was Ok. The fries not crispy at all. I had been there before to enjoy a few drinks and some music. Personally, it is was a better experience that time hanging out with friends.

The Little Bear is the place to be! If it's 1970 or if you were kickin it there in 1970. It's where the tourists go. It's what people ask about when they hear you are from Evergreen. For me and my friends, it's just mostly done. That said, I don't hate it. But meh, I can skip the cover and/or enjoy good--and better--music elsewhere. Sorry, but that's just how it is. In my experience, the under-30s crowd goes there for class reunions of sorts when they are home for the holidays. That's really the only time I've been there, and I'll admit that there was some good dancin to be had--so they get an A-OK from me.

I have been coming to The Little Bear for nearly a decade. It is a part of my Colorado history that I love and have made memories here that I cherish. It is just plain ol' fun. I am very much a biker chick. I have never ever been to The Little Bear without being on the back of a Harley. These two things together are simply the way the world should be. Freedom and hospitality. It is easy to be happy here. It's kinda dark and smells of old beer and possibly old men drinking beer but this matters not. The staff is salty and fun and the drinks well ..(lets just say there was a time it was suggested I be bungeed to the bike on our way back down the hill, so I didn't fall right off. But that's a story for another day) they are strong and the beers are cold. The food is pretty good, considering where you are and the tables may or may not be clean. This is just what I'd expect from a mountainside biker bar. If this bothers you , you have no business here whatsoever. The potties are very very small and not necessarily ummm... sanitary? But again if you can't stomach this well then a biker you are not and a lightweight you may be. The live music has NEVER disappointed me. Not once. If by some grace of God you can catch a performance by Jakarta here ... DO IT, DO IT, DO IT. They are insane, ridiculous and phenomenal. The dance floor here is smallish so be prepared to dance up close and personal with strangers, but to me this just means more fun. Be careful on your way back home so you can come back up again. I love The Little Bear so very much! So when should we all yelp up there together???

This place defines the term "dive bar" with a twist. They have the best bands from anywhere and everywhere playing here all the time. This is one of the best places to watch a live show, within mere feet of the stage. One of the best party atmospheres anywhere. Located in downtown Evergreen, in the foot hills of the Rocky Mountains.....this is a true mountain town circa the times of the gold and silver rush of the 1800's. To describe this place is nearly impossible. If you find yourself in the Denver area, visit the Little Bear on a Friday or Saturday night. Oh, the food's pretty darn good too.

In a phrase, this place is the "BOMB DOT COM"! My friends and I went there in the middle of the afternoon on a warm Saturday only to be greeted by great local music and fabulous service. This place is a must when in Evergreen. The atmosphere was inviting and welcoming despite the array of bikers stopping in for a beer and a bite to eat. Our waitress recommended the Homemade Buffalo Chili and offered us each a tasting. It was phenomenal... so we naturally had to get a bowl with tortillas. I went with the "Tourist" Burger and made sure to get their special home made fries and was pleasantly surprised by the flavor, but have to admit, I couldn't finish it. The patty was HUGE!

Awesome mountain-town bar. Live music, bras hanging from rafters, and believe it or not, excellent margaritas. We went with local friends of ours and if we lived close, this would be a regular hangout for us. Fun.

Great place to go after a hike. They have live bands and awesome atmosphere. You will find bikers, locals, tourists, etc. Their burgers were huge and juicy. They get some pretty good bands according to their website. Your server was friendly and efficient. We will be back.

I do like this place, but mainly because of where it is, the music they have, and it's fun when crowded. The food is just normal bar food, nothing to write home about. I was there tonight with some friends that had never been. I had talked the place up, but when we entered, there were several tables with garbage on them, plates, cups, food, etc. We had to clean our own table to sit down and watch the band. No one ever came to clean anything, so for the time we were there, we sat among filth. I hate to say this because I used to love the Bear, but I think it's going downhill. They just don't seem to care about appearance anymore. It's not what it used to be, which disappoints me. The 3 stars I gave are mainly based on my memory of the place, and would probably give 2 stars if this visit were my only impression of the place.

I have never been treated more rudely than I was at this establishment. The waitress who resembles Marla from 'League of Their Own' was a complete and utter b****. I will never return and recommend the winery across the street or the Mexican place down the block. One star is too many.

I like the bouncers at the Little Bear but I've never had a good bartender there. I was blatantly ignored by the girl the last time and even though she saw me standing there for 5 minutes, she helped another lady who walked up well after me. They weren't busy either. Plus their pool tables are in really bad shape and there is always a cover charge. Not worth it in my opinion.

Great place to see a show... acoustics are surprisingly good for such a small venue. Will often just drop in when I'm in town just to experience the vibe of the place..They could use some help in the drinky department. I've waited for 10 or 15 minutes trying to get the bar tender to even give me a passing glance...

We live in Evergreen and just LOVE the "Bear"....the bands are great. The food is bar food but most go for the bands and beer. I even have a bra hanging above the stage. The service stinks most of the time, but who cares...right?? Some nights you can get a whiff of Bourbon Street, the morning after. HA!!! If you haven't stopped by the Bear, you should because it's a wonderful piece of history.

Low lit biker dive bar is well mentioned whenever mountain road trips come to conversation. Seated at a booth, I entertained myself with all the carving done by pen or by pocket knife. There's advertising for live music on different nights of the week. This is an excellent stop when visiting this neck of the wilderness. What to order? Burger boy, get me a burger. My buffalo burger was quite tasty and the fries delish. Wash it down with a beer and you have yourself a well rounded meal.

$4 each.

Sad to see.

Food was awful. I understand the attraction is the atmosphere but referring to what I am pretty sure was a microwaved cheese sandwich as "gourmet grilled cheese" is just garbage.

$4 each.

Sad to see.

Great band playing the night I was there, but the $10 cover and $9.50 pitcher (and this was a couple years ago) means I'd probably return only go if there was a band I really wanted to see.
