I would eat this soup on the hottest Summer day! Imagine a quiet soup joint off the main drag. You walk in to see 14 different soups ready for you to sample. After trying the curry carrot, classic tomato, and pork green chili, you settle for the rosemary leek with a tuna melt on the side. The first sips of soup rock your world as you wait for your sandwich off the griddle. When it arrives, your mind explodes again from the gooey choose and tuna flavors. If you're ever in Evergreen, you have to check this place out.

My wife and I took a day trip to Evergreen and found this little gem. The customer service was great. They were very friendly and offered samples. There were a lot of great soups to choose from. I ended up with the Lobster Bisque. EXCELLENT!!! Definitely in my top 3! I paired the bisque with a grilled cheese, nicely toasted (could of used a little more cheese). I would highly recommend!

Wow. I'm a foodie and eaten at fine French restaurants... The soups here: done right. Amazing! Over 1000 soups last I looked and free samples make it a real tough choice. I'm now vegan, but they always have 2-3 vegan options also FYI. Also they have a killer Reuben ( if u eat meat )! Worth a weekly visit I promise.

Simply fabulous. Great soup and salad. My husband and dad also love their sandwiches. This is a fast, delicious, must go!

By far one of my favorite places in Evergreen. The employees are always super sweet and remember my name and my son. The soups are amazing and the chili is spicy and perfect. They never fail to impress me, I will always support Da Kind. Not to mention they support many local fundraisers in the community.

Their soups are always good, love the sandwiches too, but it takes the a VERY long time to get your sandwich ready! I also think that it's a bit over priced. Sometimes the variety of soups they offer can all be a little too similar too. The parking lot seems to always be full too, compared to the amount of customers inside.

While enjoying a nice drive through Morrison and on into Evergreen, we were on a mission to take in the beautiful Sunday and actually be in the outdoors that this beautiful state has to offer. But not without scarfing down a ton of food first. Because a strenuous hike is no fun on an empty stomach, we searched this good ol' app called Yelp (you might have heard of it) for the best, fast eateries in Evergreen, and behold Da Kind caught our hungry attention. Not knowing much other than the fast casual cafe offering sandwiches, we took a chance. And I am so happy we did. Da Kind is Da bomb. I apologize for the cheesiness, but a place that reads my min and knows exactly how I like a salad packed full of ingredients like, capers, artichoke hearts, roasted turkey, hearts of palm, feta, roasted veggies, and more - I can't contain my cheesy excitement. I mean this salad was loaded. They have a plethora of soups that they are happy for you to sample as the options can be overwhelming. I tried the chipotle soup and it was spicy...in a very good way, however I was in the mood for something a little more mild and went for the split pea soup, and damn! It was so fresh and perfectly seasoned. Growing up, our split pea always had a little more substance to it and wasn't just creamed peas. This split pea definitely had the chunks of goodness and came in as a very close second to my mom's. Good thing their portions are so generous to fill us up for a long hike ahead of us, I just wished Da Kind was in Denver. Their soups are all made from scratch and rotate daily. If you're ever in or around Evergreen, I highly recommend DA Kind.

As always, amazing! They've switched up their soups and I got to try an incredibly amazing zucchini soup with a fig glaze! Fabulously decadently cheesy tuna melt! And my husband had switched up his favorite and promises to get the pork green chili from here on out!

Paper straws. Great jams playing. Spicy green chili. Fresh brewed iced tea with lemon. Friendly staff. Pastrami ruben sammich. Quick service. All delicious. The sandwich was hot, cheesy and grilled to crispy perfection. The green chili was spicy and filled with pork. It was thick and hearty. The iced tea was wonderful. The dining room was spotless clean with wooden décor. I have found the best place to eat in Evergreen, Colorado. Give it a try. You'll be super glad you did.

Absolutely delicious choices served by very lovely ladies. My grilled pastrami was excellent! Soups... try 'em.... you'll find one you adore...or 3. Chili..very good...spicy...tomatoey....hearty. I also got some kind of berry juice lemonade... it tasted like eating a pint of blueberries strawberries and raspberries. Get it if you're a berry fan! Basically, unless something goes tragically wrong, you won't be disappointed.

Four stars for tasty food, enthusiastic employees, and clean restaurant and bathrooms, and for letting patrons sample the soup. can't give it five stars because my husband ordered a pastrami Reuben and when it was delivered to the table in the paper wrap, my husband open the wrapper and at the same time he lifted the bread and realized it wasn't his sandwich, the gentleman who originally delivered it to our table came and notified us that he had delivered the wrong sandwich. We watched him as he took it to the back, changed out the paper and brought it to a different table. Mind you, my husband had touched the sandwich he lifted up both the bread and the meat with his fingers. I had A tuna salad. It came in a cardboard box the bottom layer was fresh spinach, second layer was chopped green olives and copious amounts of capers, third layer dry canned tuna and fourth layer was some tasteless green appearing sauce. The salad also boasted to fresh cherry tomatoes and one fingerling potato cut into four pieces. The salad tasted completely green olives and capers. If that's your thing then wonderful. It was just not delicious to me. The tuna was dry because it was unprepared and there was no cheese or any salad dressing to speak of. I ended up squeezing a lemon on my salad. Their drink fountain area was extremely clean and had what appeared to be the world's freshest lemons. Probably the most delicious and fresh I have ever seen at any fast food restaurant. The Decour is nothing really to speak of, wooden tables and brick wall with spoons, I have to say though, the employees were all very friendly and seemed to be enthusiastic about their soups. My husband said his sandwich was good and the pastrami was not fatty. He commented that the coleslaw was bland. I would go back because of the fresh ingredients and the clean restroom and the enthusiastic employees. I would not order that salad ever again though.

This is the kind of place that makes me say "Why isn't there one in my town?" Oh right, there is, it's called "Panera Bread" and instead of being run by locals it's a crappy chain. Anyway... Our spinach salad was huge and filled with blueberries and blue cheese and it was $4. Oh and it was half sized. The pastrami was great, the soups were excellent, and the staff was very happy and helpful. The kids Mac n cheese portions were a bit small (for a 9 and 7-year-old) so we ordered a half grilled cheese to supplement their meals. The meals did come with juice or Horizon boxed milk so even at $4.25 they were a decent value. To take a trip to Evergreen and have this place to stop at for lunch is wonderful.

Really tasty fresh soup and sandwiches. I had the chicken chili. Its very hearty and just the right amount of salt. The atmosphere is very casual. A wee bit pricy for soup and sandwiches, but justifiable given the freshness of the ingredients and the wonderfully crafted recipes.

I was have a frustrating day at work and knew the answer was comfort food. I had been meaning to stop in as they are across the street from my office but wasn't sure soup on a hot summer's day was what I was looking for. Wrong-o! They are awesome. I walked in and was immediately greeted by staff; they asked if I'd ever been in and when I said I hadn't, I had the samples of all the soups given to me with an explanation of what was in each. All of them were delicious. Every single one of them. I chose the Poblano Corn simply because it seemed like the right taste for a crappy day. Right-o! I also ordered the tuna melt and it was perfect. The owner Ariana (sorry if this is misspelled) was very friendly and introduced herself with professionalism and pride in her husband's skill (he's the chef and other owner). I usually am organized in the a.m. and pack a salad but on the days I "forget" I will be patronizing Da Kind for my lunch needs.

We stopped here for a nice lunch while we were exploring evergreen and in so glad we did. Not only were the workers super friendly but the food was exceptional! I had the beef crimini soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. It was more than enough food to fill me up! Others in my family had the beef chili (great if you like spicy, a little too spicy for me but my son are every bite), kids macaroni and cheese (made from scratch, not just easy mac, and it was delicious), tomato soup (rich and creamy), and squash (I can't remember the entire name of it but was told it was amazing). If we lived in the area, I know for certain we would return. Everything was clean, from the tables and chairs, to the soda fountain and floors. Every customer was greeted and tasted like they were family by the workers; they even remembered our names! We are only in town for another day and I'm sure we will be back for one more visit because we enjoyed it so much.

Perfect lunch place when I am in town and want something good but quick. Love all their soups and sandwiches. Spicy green chili and grill cheese are my favorite. Friendly smiling staff and clean. This is my comfort food place.

These guys kill it! Wut a variety of soups. Every one I've tried has been outstanding. They want u to sample all of them. I suggest not making a decision until you do. Sandwiches r all good as well. Bit pricey but worth it for me. Keep up the good work

I remember this place before it was "the da kind soup". Oh thank god it's not a 7/11 anymore. First- it's soups and sandwiches. Second- the staff is super friendly and helpful and knowledgable. PS. free samples so their is no excuse for "I didn't like my soup, or no flavor." Third- it's colorado and if your not used to getting things in Eco-friendly wrapping then move to an east coast city Fourth- it's not a box chain restaurant and because of that it's one of a kind. Hooray for entrepreneurs

Love the Yelp community for never failing to identify and recommend outstanding restaurants. I have to say that I literally and figuratively would never have found this place without the reviews, but it's worth the trek and effort to find. Seriously, what did we do before Yelp? I digress. I loved what Emily C. wrote about a passion for soup, because passion permeated Da Kind. Not only were samples served of many kinds of soups on request, but happily so with running commentary on spice level, ingredients, process, etc. we each sampled at least 4 soups before settling on our choices, and our soup safari guide didn't register a single note of annoyance. Andrew had a combo that isn't published on their menu-2 small soups and a drink for $8. He and I argued over who would have the last bite of his red pepper soup and he also had Munster and pepper soup (We're both forgetting the name this am because our minds were so blown). I had the beef chili and it was hearty and hit the right balance of spicy and rich. We'll be back before we leave town to pick up a bag of soup to go. Do yourself a flavor favor and check out Da Kind. As others have mentioned it is on the spendy side for soup, but you pay for what you get and can taste the quality and the care in each bowl.

This is the kind of local place I want to support, and fell in love with on my first visit. The concept, the staff, the to-go packs... this is a beautifully designed business! And I will keep going back. Most of the food I've had here is stellar. So, why the three star review?? First of all, I find the food inconsistent. Yelp is all about the finer points, right? This review is a heads up to my fellow food snobs, and perhaps to the biz itself, if they follow Yelp. I find their generous taste-test system of the day's soups necessary. Some things that sound like a great idea are just not working. Onward to the next one, until you find a winner. You WILL find a winner! This one might be my own personal problem: everyone has certain spices and herbs that are must-haves and others that are dealbreakers. Rosemary just does not work for me except in small doses. Someone at Da Kind Soups really, really loves it. Since I don't live that close to the restaurant, I have purchased a "bag" of soup to enjoy later, each time I visited. First of all... folks, don't boil soft plastic! But anyway, the bagged soups have each had a major flaw that made them inedible. 2 out of the 3 had total rosemary overload. Too much of it tastes like a bite of mold. But that's just me, perhaps. One of them had inexplicable lemon flavor overpowering it, and it was Dahl. Huh? So, I have learned my lesson on the to-go bags. And I will keep going back to eat "live" where I can taste the offerings before buying. Because, when they do it right, it is fantastic. So much so, that I almost gave four stars despite the wasted money on bags of soup.

Wow. Soup that is amazing. Gourmet, unique and rich with flavor. Sandwiches that are incredible. It just goes to show: Put a great restaurant in an old 7-11 and it will still succeed. Fabulous soup and sandwiches. Fabulous.

Have you ever met someone whose life passion is soups? I hadn't either, until we stumbled into this place after gorging ourselves down the road at the Switchback Smokehouse... I *almost* wish I hadn't eaten so much once we wandered into this place. Lemme talk atcha. First of all, this place is spic n span. I'm a freak about that stuff, and they know how to clean. Second. The two people who greeted us were way, way into soup. Never met a person so passionate about liquid food before, let alone two, but they dished out a sample of anything I even glanced twice at, and weren't put off by my obnoxious dietary needs. Even soupchef back in the visible kitchen nodded in intense agreement whenever one of the two soup spokespeople said something about his creations that he agreed with. Soup passion pit. Third. The soups themselves? Effing mind blowing. Each and every sample was rich and delicate. I've never even enjoyed cream of celery soup, unless it was tucked away into a casserole, but I ended up walking away with a bowl of it. The tomato soup was killer, and lets you get your ultimate artisinal childhood dream meal on. The mushroom soup had such a deep, shroomy, creamy umami thing going on--it'll be mine next time. Four things now. You can grab boil-in-bag soups to go. Yup. They include peel-off instructions so you know how to handle yourself at home. Five. This place is expensive. But you're also paying for quality. I'm not about to go here every day, and I don't think I could even afford a weekly visit, but when my need for soup creeps up into my tummycockles, I'm heading up past Morrison, past Kittredge, and taking a right at the gas station to Da Kind Soups. I've never known a soup to be mind blowing, but I guess there's a first time for everything. Way to do your thing right, DKS.

We come here once or twice a year. We drive all the way from Aurora so obviously we like this place. It's a scenic drive, they always have a soup each of us likes and the people are nice.

Although I got something very simple, I have to say that paying $13 for a grilled cheese, a cup of tomato soup and a drink is a bit pricey. The staff and place are pleasant and seems a nice addition to the area. Don't expect bottled water or chicken soup. The soups change daily which is cool but I figured i could at least get take out on chicken soup for my sick partner but no joy.

  • Meghan M.

Absolutely delicious! Even though I get the same thing every time, they still let me try all of the soups they offer! Also love that they offer the soups in a bag, so I can bring it home and make as much as I want!

  • Christopher B.

They got this right! They have fresh soups made from scratch. They have a chef who puts together the recipes for a number of soups they rotate though. I tried several and the choice was tough but I went with the leak. I will say that each is full of flavor and served at the right temperature. On top of everything, I couldn't resist the grilled cheese and all I have to say is that it absolutely didn't disappoint. I can't think of a better spot to come to for lunch in Evergreen than this one! Great options, great people, great choice.

If Evergreen weren't pleasant enough to visit as it is, there's the added joy of finding small places like this one. Da Kind isn't big. It's just a small, ordinary looking shop with a big surprise inside, and, if you aren't used to the neighborhood, it isn't easy to find. They say it's in downtown Evergreen, but the truth is it is on the north side of town, and you have to turn off Main Street to get there. It's OK with me if they want to call that downtown, the extra trouble it might take to find this place is worth it. Inside, they offer a variety of options ranging from Vegan, to Vegetarian, to Carnivore. They have something for everyone, and most of their ingredients are locally grown, organic produce. Whether you want soup, a sandwich, a salad, or any combination of those, you'll get to choose from a number of satisfying option that suit your dietary needs and requirements. When I was there, I went with soup and salad. That day, I chose the "Vegan" Split Pea and Sweet Potato soup, and the Vegetable Salad. Their soups are different every day. The chef comes in early in the morning, and cooks them up fresh that day. If you want to know what soups to expect before you go in, you can find the list on-line at " dakindsoups.com ," or, you can just take a chance, but, either way, you won't be disappointed. The soups are priced according to the ingredients and complexity involved in making them. My cup of soup was $5.00, and it probably would have been enough for a light lunch all by itself. I love Split Pea soup, but I had never had it with sweet potato in it before. I liked the balance of flavors, and the light seasoning. It was a very good, satisfying bowl of soup. The salad I had was called the "Vegetable" salad It seems redundant, but the name really is important to distinguish it from the other salad options. This one has kale, spinach, cauliflower, haloumi cheese, and roasted vegetables served with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. I got the half salad, and that was plenty. Only get a full salad if you are planning on having it for a meal, and you are really hungry. The half salad is plenty enough for anyone. I loved everything, especially enjoying it in the quiet atmosphere of a quaint, mountain town in the company of good friends. This place isn't fancy, but that was as good a meal as I have had in recent memory anywhere, even at home. If you are looking for a light, healthy lunch that won't break your wallet, this place is a good option. I highly recommend it.

DaKind serves up the most amazing 1000 original recipe soups. Sorry folks, Dustin and his amazing culinary wizards can only whip up 8 varieties a day. You will have to visit again and again to try all 1000. The owners are the kindest and loveliest people on the planet! The sandwiches and salads are equally out of this world! You can taste all the soups before you order so you can find your personal favorite. There are always vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options! These soups are made with fine quality ingredients in the cleanest kitchen you will ever see. The employees are passionate and make everyone feel welcome and comfortable. We've been going to DaKind for years and have never been disappointed!!!

Wow!!! We visited Da Kind Soups on a whim after traveling to Evergreen, CO on business. I'll say it again, WOW!!!! Perfectly situated in downtown Evergreen, Da Kind Soups has plenty of parking, a clean entryway and adorably quaint seating area. Da ladies working behind da counter were pleasant and welcomed us with a warm smile and fresh samples of today's soups. One particularly nice gal informed us that the chef has more than 1000 soup recipes. There were 11 available today and each with its own unique aroma and flavor. My wife and I shared a bowl of the Cowboy Stew, very hearty and delicious, and a tuna melt. OMG, both were amazing!! The stew was served with our choice of crackers or warm French baguettes. I recommend the bread for dipping in the stew. I wish I could describe the tuna melt but words cannot do it justice. So, instead I'll describe the look on my wife's face after her first bite: ORGASMIC! My only complaint? The nearest shop is over an hour away! However, we'll definitely be back for Da Tuna Melt, Da Stew and of course Da Kindness :)

Great place to grab lunch. The decor and service was great. You can sample the many soups that are made fresh each day. I had the turkey and bacon sandwich along with the tomato bisque soup. Pros: - Turkey is roasted and sliced in-house ... so no prepackaged meat! - Bread is grilled - love toasted sandwiches! - Cup of soup is an ounce or two more than you'd get elsewhere. Cons: - It was about $15 for a cup of bisque and a whole sandwich, more than I expected to pay in Evergreen for lunch. - Took about 25 minutes to get my soup and sandwich to go with one person ahead of us in line and one other customer at a table who was waiting for chili. We got there before the massive lunch rush.

Yum to the yum, yum, yum!!! As a vegan I was stoked to have found this place. My husband the meat-eater was just as well satisfied. We happened to have stumbled across this place and boy was I glad, one of the best meals we had in CO. The staff was ever so kind, friendly and helpful. They let us taste and sample the goods and I must say this place has the home-cooked taste down to a T. I ended up with a tomato soup & salad that blew my vegan mind. And, free stickers to boot! If I am ever in Evergreen, CO again this will be one of my first stops for sure! This place knows food & customer service - kudos to Da Kind Soups for a job WELL DONE!

We visit Da Kind every time we visit our son in Kittredge. I love the variety of soups and the fact that they give you as many "taste tests"as you want. My only complaint would be that I prefer my soup to be hot and I have never found that at Da Kind. I was going to ask to have it nuked to heat up, but realized the paper soup bowl might not be able to handle the microwave. We are actually taking our daughter-in-law and two grandsons there tonight for dinner.

What's better than warm soup on a cold and snowy day. There are many types soups to choose from and some are really spicy, which is a plus when it's cold. Every time there seems to be a new soup that tastes delicious. Of course you need a sandwich to go along with your bowl of soup. I tend to get the grilled cheese so I go dunk it in the bowl. It's a little pricey, but it's a quality product and worth it. I would recommend this establishment to anyone who's craving a warm bowl of soup on a cold day!

Wow! I had the chicken Dahl and my husband had the bead chili soup and both had exceptional flavor and just the right amount of spice. Tasty crackers by Westminster Bakers Co. Greenware & paper products. The homemade lavender lemonade is perfect. What a find in Evergreen. Lots of parking and outdoor seating option.

  • Ann M.

Very delicious fresh food. Soup was delicious 5 stars for my soup! 4 for my Tuna Sandwich. Everything was bursting with flavor. You DO get what you pay for - it was almost 30$ for two soups and two sandwiches (with no sides not even a pickle! I would like if I got some chips or a pickle or macaroni salad with my sandwich) The prices are very expensive, honestly it's the kind of price I would expect back home in NYC - but like I said you DO get what you pay for. I plan to eat here again. They also sell their soups frozen to go in bags which is excellent because I'm lazy and they were good soup. I plan to go back and get some of those to toss in my freezer in the winter.

Headed here for a late lunch last Saturday after a nice time adventuring through Evergreen. We made a combination of their tomato soup and roasted red pepper soup. Both were delicious on their own, but we were indecisive so we combined the two and were in heaven. We also got 2 half sandwiches--tuna melt and turkey bacon. Love that they have 4 different soup sizes plus packaged soup to make at home as well as sandwiches with the option for 1/2 or full. They always have at least 8 soups available and the staff is friendly!

  • Paige S.

Went there because of all the great reviews...don't get it. I ordered the Tomato Soup and a Grilled Cheese. The soup was bland and the the grilled cheese was one burnt piece of bread with one single slice of american cheese. The lady was nice until she got the soup out and I requested to have it with my meal. She looked kinda put off and I think she just stored it under the counter until the sandwiches were ready because when it came out it was cold. My husband got the Turkey Bacon sandwich and it was better, but we won't be going back.

Right before Denver proper got slammed with rain today, I was in Evergreen ordering soup and half a grilled cheese. I posted on FB : "it's Dat Kind of day...." I love that you can try the soups. The employees are MORE than willing to sample you the soups. Why? Cause they actually care. They really really want you to be happy. I got the Saag soup and half a grilled cheese. Everything was super hot. There was plenty of spinach and saag paneer (ya know, the cubed stuff?) in my soup. Because my sister lives in town, I got the down low on the owners.... The wife (owner) was never behind the counter, rather, she was everywhere! Wiping tables, taking out trash, thanking people for coming in, refilling straws.... It was really nice to see such a well oiled machine. And it makes sense; all of the employees and owners are there for one reason- to give you kick ass soup. And make you feel right at home.

Da Kind Soups is a perfect lunch spot after taking a ride into the mountains, the soup and sandwiches are always fresh and pretty tasty. I have had a few soups that I wasn't too fond of, even though I had a sample of it that tasted very good, but overall I have been very pleased on the majority of my visits. On occasion the sandwiches can be served pretty greasy, I'm guessing simply because of the grilling process? Either way I feel that the few times I wasn't 100% satisfied, I would still rank the experience above multiple other restaurants.

I also find their sandwich delicious in every bite I take. I have nothing but positive vibes to send out to Da Kind Soup! wonderful food ,staff, and environment! ..................................... It's a soup and sandwich shop. How good can it be? Reall, REALLY good. Atmosphere is perfect. Great decor, lots of tables, easy to order. Their soups are fantastic. I thought soup was soup. After sampling nearly all of them, trying to decide what to order was the only thing I didn't like about this place. We wanted one of each. So we got a portabella soup that was awesome, and got a bag of corn chowder to take home. We also had a turkey bacon sandwich that was great. My wife is a huge fan of Panera and could never understand why I didn't like it...until we ate here. Her only complaint was that da Kind Soup has ruined Panera for her now. Great people, nice shop, super food.

How could a soup place stay in business? Because they're phenomenal. We just moved to Evergreen and stopped in one day. We were greeted by the most friendly people who promptly offered samples. My daughter and I somehow tried the tomato soup even though we both hate tomato soup. Not this one - we left the store with a large container full. Even my picky youngest child loved it (we didn't tell her what it was). Great people, great food.

I often find myself going well out of my way to stop by here. Until I found this place I've always had a "meh" feeling about soup. Enjoyed it but didn't crave it. While skiing today I found myself craving some soup at Arapahoe Basin... rather than indulging there I stayed hungry and on the way home stopped by Da Kind Soups on my way home. They provide samples so you know what you are buying and will be happy with it. As usual the delay in arriving home was well worth it. I've been stopping by here after hikes for a few years now for a cup of soup and sometimes a sandwich. For soup it's a little pricey but I always leave full and happy. They also don't seem to mind disheveled looking smelly nature lovers (for you city slickers - thats what happens after a great day in the hills here). Gotta love CO mountain towns! :) While I live in Denver the staff has still started to recognize me (I doubt I go once a month). They work to learn the names of their customers. This is pretty impressive and really speaks to the character of their employees. Maybe next time they will get my name right... but if they don't I'm sure the soup will still be great.

The best meal we've had since moving to CO a couple of months ago. Reasonably priced and appropriately portioned with healthy choices for children and adults alike! You know the team running the operation knows their stuff as they can tell you everything about what is in their food and clearly takes great pride in what they do. Fabulous service-very friendly and courteous staff. Clean eating area and restrooms. You can tell just walking in that they make everything from scratch by how good it smells. Can't wait to return!

Awesome soups, great variety with tasty, fresh and healthy options. A little spendy, but you get what you pay for. They have OK sandwiches and salads too but wish they had better options - man cannot live on soup alone!

This is definitely One of the best places to get soup. Sitting next to the window eating looking at the mountains is amazing. I have tried many soups. Their tomato is definitely me favorite. I also like their merepoix. Today I got the baby portabella. The flavor is a amazing but a little excessive with the amount of mushrooms in the soup. With your soup you can get a generous price of French bread which pairs perfectly with the soup. I have never tried their sandwiches or salads but hope to soon. I definitely recommend this place to anyone!

Went here with fam and friends while I was in CO, and for a place that focuses on soup, I was very pleased. Everything I had (I sampled all the soups) was crafted extremely well and tasted excellent. I had food envy of my GFs grilled cheese and Roasted Red Pepper soup. I know what your thinking, it's some CO long haired joint that does vegan, gluten free hippie food. Well, you're right, but they do so much more! I am a carnivore and the sandwiches there are top notch. I gave it a 4 out of 5 due entirely to the fact that its not easy to get to, unless you live in Evergreen.

i lived in evergreen for around 5 years and this is a very nice place to go to. my son who is very picky even liked their soup. i would highly recommend visiting there.

Mac and cheese and grilled cheese were great. The tomato soup and the green chilli were a little bland though.

Soups are made Fresh Everyday and there is always something different to try - and they gladly offer up teeny samples of whatever you see. Had a couple so-so soups, but for the most part very good!

Evergreen surely is not the culinary capitol of Colorado, but DA KIND begins to make up for it. The soups are incredibly reasonable and insanely good.

Great concept, great food, high quality ingredients! Love it! Honestly worth the trek out to Evergreen for an amazing lunch! The staff were also incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful! Very, very highly recommended!

Evergreen is well known for being just a little cooler than the big city. What better lunch than a warm bowl of soup on a cool day? Da Kind is consistently good, the staff is always friendly and the atmosphere is just what you'd expect from a friendly mountain town.

DA KIND Soups is an absolutely amazing establishment and surely a crown jewel in Evergreen's culinary landscape. I have never found a soup there that I haven't absolutely loved. There is always a good selection of soups made daily and selected from an ever-growing pool of dozens of recipes. There soups range from chili to creamy to broth-based soups and they're all amazing. A large menu of sandwiches are also available to compliment many of the soups. Go there no matter where in Denver you are, it's well worth the drive to Evergreen.

Da Kind Soups is the kind of place you got to and can expect consistency. You go in, have as many tastings as you would like before deciding, order and soup is served. It moves along quickly. They don't stumble when there is a long line. It just moves along quickly. They have it down. Order a sandwich and you will be dangersouly hooked. To die for. The pastrimi and the tomato mozz is just fab. The pastrimi is loaded and the slaw is not a sourkraut, thank you very much. The soups are so good! The combinations are always interesting and very, very tasty. Full of flavor, spice, heat if you want. Excellent and consistent service as well as good food.

Great place to stop for lunch. The green chili soup was perfect, the vegetable soup was equally great. Snuck some of my wife's to taste. My son got the red chili and he said it was the best he had eaten. The real hero of the lunch was the sandwiches, they were cooked just enough to get a nice toast on the outside and melt the cheese on the inside. My younger son split his grilled cheese with my wife and they seemed very impressed. I split my turkey and bacon with my older son and it rocked! Great group working the counter also, they were friendly and helpful, and quick as can be. What a great find in little Evergreen. Kind of out of the way but worth the search.

Da Kind is oh, so KIND! My friend Stephanie took me here for lunch after a long day of house hunting in Evergreen. I typically don't go for soup but this is something else. Serrano Cremini cream soup and 1/2 a grilled cheese. WOW. I can't wait to stop here after a day of skiing.

This tucked away spot is DEFINITELY worth finding - especially if you want veggie options! The soups are fresh and inventive. I had caramelized garlic served with a cheese crouton. Delish!!!! The grilled cheese was just right. Perfect with their tomato soup. You can try as many as you like and anything I've ever tried was great. It is always a tough call.

The workers there are really friendly and kind. The chili vegetable is so delicious! I most definitely will come back to eat at this place again. Yummy! Soup is champ and the sandwich is so delicious, too.

Love Da Kind soups. Just wish it wasn't so pricey. I mean it IS just soup after all. But it IS very tasty soup. Also, it bugs me (just a little) that there are no lids on the soup and the thought of them being out all day like that isn't very appealing. Overall, I like the place and recommend it.

My favorite lunch place in Evergreen. Excellent soups, salads and sandwiches. They offer samples of their soups so you can be sure that it's "perfect for you." In addition - even though service is flawless - the staff accept no tips. If you want to "tip" them - recommend the place to someone else. I'm doing almost that. I'm actually recommending it to everyone else!

    (5)
  • Doug Y.

"and despite being underwhelmed by the sample, I ordered it anyway." I like this review because it cancels it's credibility out by the odd notion that if you order something that you did not like, can you honestly expect it to improve if you ate more of it? That's silly to say the least. I like the fact that DA KIND has 10 different choices of soup and you can taste any or all of them. After tasting several, I decided on having the two soup special that comes with a drink and either a roll or crackers. I went with Cowboy Stew and the Italian Bean with Bacon soups solely on the recommendation of the server. She has good taste. The soups were both flavorful and hearty The room is cheery despite having been a convenience store and it's tastefully decorated too. I would have given it a four star because I try to reserve five stars for the best my mouth has ever tasted and they haven't quite achieved that goal. I felt to balance out the overly critical 2 star given by the soup nazi though, let's make it a five.

I've been eating here since they opened almost three years ago. This soup has gotten me through the end of an unfortunate engagement, moving into my first place on my own, wanting amazing food when I didn't have time to cook my self (boil bags, I love you), and now helps out with family meals in a pinch. I think the owners are awesome, strong people who really know what it means to be a neighbor in a small town. I love Dustin's creativity in the kitchen. I love everyone's friendliness when you walk in the door. I love being waved at before I even walk in the door. Now for the soups - What haven't I tried? I try to not get the same thing twice. Unless, it is a mushroom and ____ soup, particularly mushroom and rosemary. My favorites include the cauliflower, chicken chilli, ginger coconut (had that today), split pea, beef vegetable, and tomato. Those are just the ones I have off the top of my head. Oh, yes, I almost forgot... The pumpkin bisque with the crushed pistachios and the corn chowder with smoked sea salt. I haven't had that one in forever.... smoked sea salt.... What I really love about all the soups are the dimensions of flavor present in ALL of them. BTW, the tomato is awesome. It is a creamy tomato and it has fabulous tomato flavor. I really like the fact that I can taste the carrot that has to be in there. But, if you don't like creamy tomato, then I'd try one of the other fabulous soups.

I came here expecting great things from all the other yelper's comments and was greatly disappointed. I love nothing more than a delicious cup of tomato soup and despite being underwhelmed by the sample, I ordered it anyway. What a mistake. It lacked flavor and was full of fatty fatty cream. So, it tasted like slightly tomato-y cream. Not worth the $4.50 or whatever for a small size. The tuna melt was quite good, mainly because the bread was decent and they seemed to use high-quality tuna. The bread was coated in oil (and then grilled, nice) so it too was quite fatty. It is unfortunate that they don't give you a plate here (even if you dine in) because the tuna melt dripped all over the table making a lovely smelly mess. Overall, the soup was below average, the sandwich was slightly above, and as a disappointed connoisseur of soups I will not be returning to this "soup" establishment.

Love this place! They have a constantly changing variety of soups that keep me going back for more. I do work while I eat and I've never felt like I'm rushed out or that they mind. Definitely worth the stop if you're in the Evergreen area.

Killer soups. Greasy, slightly overpriced sandwiches that are quite tasty. And greasy. The soup wizard who runs this place has certainly studied soup craft for many years.

  • Micahlynn R.

Very disappointed. The soup was tasteless, the sandwich was bland, the paper straws weirded me out. Definitely a hipster kind of place. WAY overpriced for what you get. Nice staff... but the food was lacking in everything... thus, I will not be going back.

Delicious and innovative soups! I loved the sweet potato feta and the portabella- probably some of the best tasting soups I've ever had. It's great to be able to sample the soups before making a decision. I wish they'd open one in Denver! My only suggestion is to use actual bowls and plates instead of the disposable paper dishes to eliminate waste.

  • Susan M.

Great soup and many choices (I think 8 choices)! Service was outstanding; they were more than happy to explain how everything works and to give samples of all their soups. I think I tried about 6 soups before deciding on the italian tomato. It came with bread in it and melted cheese on top. Yummo to the max. My only complaint is price and the night I was there, only a couple of their daily soups had any meat in them. But that's great news if you are vegetarian. :)

I can sum it up with this: for the first time in my life today, I went back to a restaurant to get more on the same day. Now it's soup, and it travels, and will store, but still. Green chili that rocked my world. They are also picky-eater friendly, with gluten-free, veggie, vegan and dairy-free options every day. Whatever you need, they make it, and it's all fabulous.

We stumbled upon this little soup shop last night driving through Evergreen. The weather had just flipped from summer to wintery snow overnight so soup sounded perfect. It did not disappoint. It came with thes huge pieces of fluffy garlic bread for dipping. Everyone there was so friendly and homey. They even came around to the tables offering complimentary coffee. Nice. We will definitely stop in for some soup again! I only wish it were closer to Denver.

The set up is great and the offer to taste before you buy is fabulous. no cold soups are offered in the summer. the selection is wide, but I wished the server would let you know about the kind, kinder, and kindest soup. Ok I can read and it is above but your greeted so fast that you just go with the one on one bit. Also know that a bread bowl is available as well. Dad saw that I had order this after his was served and wished that he knew. Yea Its on the board but......"do you want fries with that?" is really needed here.Help out the bear of small brain.

In a town where most of the food is mediocre (yes, Evergreen, the food is mediocre), Da Kind Soup is Da Bomb! First of all, the service is excellent. Ariane, Dustin, and staff are always friendly and smiley. They will let you sample any soup they have on the menu. My personal favorite is tomato. Their sandwiches are AMAZING. I literally got through pregnancy with my daughter on their Turkey Bacon Sandwich. I used to work with in walking distance to Da Kind so I was a frequent customer. Once I had my daughter I stopped working and a few months after I had her, I got a gift card in the mail from Ariane, the owner. So sweet. The food is excellent, the service is great. A definite must stop if you are in the hood.

Run, don't walk! This place is AMAZING!! I don't know if I could even find the words to tell you how important it is for everyone to try this place. All of their soups are great and don't be afraid of sampling everyone before you make your choice. There sandwiches are great, too, and a great compliment to the soup. I had half a grilled cheese and it all just melted in my mouth. If only Evergreen were closer... I would surely eat there every day.

Da Kind is the sort of place that often only exists in dreams: a friendly, locally-owned restaurant that produces truly top notch food from scratch. The husband and wife owners are always on-site, greeting customers with a warm smile and a hearty hello and eagerly offering samples of all the day's selections. And, oh, what selections they have. You'll find the most delicious renditions of everyday soups (tomato, french onion, clam chowder), as well as more obscure concoctions (bacon artichoke, red pepper lentil). The one constant seems to be the aforementioned tomato soup, which is the best I've ever tasted, but the rest of nine soups they offer change from day to day. Regardless of what you choose, you won't be disappointed. Every soup I've had there has been perfectly seasoned, with an unparalleled depth of flavor. Soups that sound as if they'd taste rather bland have a richness and complexity you'd never expect. It's really an eye-opening experience to try their versions of your Campbell's (un)favorites. If that canned soup is MMMMMM...good, Da Kind's soup is MMMMMMMMMM...supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

Oh man. Look at all the reviews I've written and you'll find this is the most gushing I've ever done. TFDF: To freakin' die for. 8 soups a day, free samples, I can never walk out of there satisfied b/c I can't eat them all in one sitting. Seriously. They've got it all from super-healthy to super-decadant. My faves have been the Rattlesnake Stew, 3 Potato, and Crab Artichoke. Their chicken noodle is superb as well. Quality ingredients, appropriate portion sizes for the price, totally reasonable prices, always friendly and warm. My only complaint (and this is stretching it) is location, but that's subjective b/c I live and work in N.Evergreen. However, I bet if they were farther north they'd be able to pick off some I-70 ski/mountain traffic. Otherwise so top notch.

My wife is always longing for a good soup in the fall and winter months. So, on occasion we venture up the canyon from our home in Littleton to visit Da Kind Soups. There is such great variety. We usually get the sampler, two soups each, so we have four soups to taste. And then we pick our favorite from those four, buy some of that to take home!

We went to this restaurant because the reviews were so great... Not so great when we had the tomato soup and the broccoli cheddar cheese. I wonder who wrote these other glowing reviews??? The tuna melt was very good, but the soup is not that great. Too much flour in the broccoli cheddar very little flavor in either soup.

By far our "go to" place in Evergreen. Great soup only complimented by great staff and atmosphere. A must place to go if you are alone or with someone else, day or night. All soups are homemade and excellent.

This place is worth the trek! If you are in Evergreen, on the way up the mtn. and pass by Evergreen, or if you just have a little extra time to go up there for lunch, do it. This place has fantastic soups! Ten different soups every day, all worth tasting (and they happily give tastes of them all). Also, they have fantastic grilled sandwiches. The Pastrami Reuben and the Tomato, Basil, Mozz. drizzled w/ Balsamic Syrup are my faves. It is a little, locally-owned place and they are always super friendly. They are closed Sundays and often on holidays too, so don't make the trip then or you'll be seriously disappointed. They also sell boil-in-bag quarts of their soups to take home which makes the trip even more worthwhile. I wish they had a location in Denver but I will continue to go to Evergreen until they do!

I'm definitely a fan of soup, definitely. Years ago my boss and I drove up to a job site in Avon, and we stopped in Vail for lunch. I can't remember the name of the restaurant, but basically, they served soup, maybe 4 or 5 different kinds. The soups weren't spectacular, but on a cold day in Colorado, it sure hit the spot. Since then, I've wished many times to find a restaurant like that closer to Denver, something with a bit more personality than the generic, boring, institutionalized soups the chain restaurants like Souper Salad serve. Well, alas, the time has come, and wow, it was worth the wait! DA KIND Soups in Evergreen is in its tenth month of operation, and they've taken the soup theme to a whole different level. Forget a measly choice of 4 or 5 soups; DA KIND offers 10 soups every day, and the varieties are ever changing. I asked the owners, Dustin & Ariane, how many recipes they've created, and they led me behind the counter to the kitchen where they keep the soup's magnetic labels. Remember the scene in "A Beautiful Mind" when John Nash's (Russell Crowe) wife stumbles upon the abandoned shed which is plastered with Nash's equations and codes? Yep, that's what it was like: over 150 soup labels all over the wall, only more decipherable and orderly. Their kitchen, by the way, is damn near spotless, as is their restaurant in general. It used to be an old 7-11, and it's hard to believe a convenience store could be remodeled into such a warm, cozy and inviting eatery. It sort of has a hip industrial/deli feel to it with a few exposed brick walls, colored concrete floor, large storefront windows etc., yet they've used just the right homey touches (custom wood doors, earth tone colors, interesting soup spoon decor) to create a comfortable and interesting atmosphere. Their staff are all wonderful too, and they go out of their way to make you feel welcome and appreciated. On my first visit, I watched as an older gentleman finished his meal and slowly made his way to leave. A young man working behind the counter stopped what he was doing and helped the man to the front door, being very courteous and attentive to a senior citizen who obviously was in physical pain. Incidentally, the restaurant's name centers on what the owners try to foster in their service: kindness. Dustin & Ariane have done a fine job in hiring positive, friendly, caring and KIND help (which, of course, reflects their own personalities). Just last night I asked one of their employees (Heidi) how she liked working there, and she beamed with gratitude and said she felt very blessed to work for such great people. Pretty impressive to know of someone who actually likes their job! Anyway, back to the soup, the glorious soup ... not only are the choices phenomenal, they are all made from scratch with the finest & freshest ingredients. Dustin has over 20 years experience in the kitchen, and his creativity and expertise shine in the unique recipes he's created. He puts a unique twist on all the standards like beef chili, green chili, french onion, broccoli cheese, beer cheese, etc., and wow, cross your fingers that his caramelized garlic soup is on the menu when you visit. The prices, by the way, are totally reasonable and affordable. A bowl of soup is anywhere from $5 - $7 (depending on the soup's ingredients and complexity, which they appropriately distinguish as kind/kinder/kindest). You can also buy smaller sizes (cups) or larger sizes (quarts). My favorite deal is their $6.75 special which comes with two 8 oz. cups of any of their soups, a drink, and a slice of delicious, thick bread loaded with grains & seeds. It's a great way to start sampling their huge repertoire of soups. Additionally, they have hot, grilled sandwiches, but I must admit that I haven't tried them yet, nor have I tried their fresh "boil-in-bags" that are vacuum sealed and available by the pint and quart. I'd bet they're pretty darn delicious, though, and when I DO try them, I'll update my review. Seriously, if you're in the mood for a great bowl of soup, this is your spot. Maybe I'll see you there!
