Sat night met a friend at a bar a few blocks down but there was band playing and it was way too loud to chat so we walked up Grandview and came across Mi Tierra. The place looked empty but we walked in and asked if they were still open, they said yes and seated us. The service was super fast and friendly and the food came out as fast as fast as taco bell. I had a smothered chicken burrito and it was stuffed with big chunks of white chicken, not shredded or dark meat. Friend had tacos and I was assured they were good. So pleasant experience and cheap hearty food. Oh and it didn't take long to figure out we got there 10 mins before they closed as they were sweeping up, cleaning tables etc but we never felt rushed and were even offered more drinks but that explains the fast service. Your experience may vary :o)

This is one of our favorite places to eat. We go several times a month. a nice locally owned place with great food and good service.

Don't set your standards for hole-in-the-wall Mexican food too high. Mi Tierra is a great neighborhood stop cooking up all the favorites for a good value living up to the standards of its class. I wish the green chili was spicier, but I certainly wouldn't call the food bland. Mi Tierra is probably not worth a special trip, but if you're in the area, you can't beet the lunch special.

This place is amazing! Wow so glad we stumbled across it one day while strolling through downtown arvada. Lunch speicials are great. Nothing fancy about the resteraunt-however the food is fantastic and the service is good. Fav Mexican resteraunt in town. Chips and salsa are a must!!

food was ok but they bring chip and salsa right out and charge you with out asking or telling you

Easily the blandest Mexican food I've ever had. The green chili had the consistency of chick broth and only slightly more flavor. The location and atmosphere would be acceptable if the food were good, but since it isn't, it really is just a hole in the wall with no style. BORING.

First off, this place is now called Mi Tierra as previously stated. I visit this place fairly regularly with my toddler since it's quiet and the food is edible. However, I'd raved enough about their enchiladas that a friend agreed to meet me there for lunch today. I've only ever seen one server during the day and she doesn't check in regularly and never refills my glass unless I ask. Today our service was the slowest it's ever been. There were only 4 other tables when we arrived. On top of slow service we were told they where out of the original beverage we ordered for the kids, our order was completely backwards, she didn't remember who ordered what, had to take our plates back, then wasn't even sure if they had a dessert we ordered. When our lunch finally arrived it was still wrong and she had to deliver yet another plate since items had been left off, even after a 2nd chance. Now, we did have 2 children with us (mine-2 and my friend's-3). Of course the first round of orders got one of the children's correct so the second child had to sit an wait with the rest of us...hardly seems fair when you're two! After the meal my friend ordered a dessert and was told by the waitress they may not have it. Finally a plate of flan arrived at the table drizzled in some odd red syrup. My friend reported it was the worst flan she had ever tasted and barely finished the whipped cream. My credibility for restaurant reccomendation is now questionable to my good friend :/ Anyhow, I'm sad to report our terrible trip (mostly due to the lack of service) has turned me off. If I ever return it will be many months down the road to see if this hole in the wall has hired a waitstaff with half a brain!

For Colorado the Mexican food is Great! I have high Texas standards and this one is authentic! People from Colorado don't know what good Mexican food is, that's why I ignore there posts...like they would know what good seafood tastes like either! Also...if you want spicy ask for jalapeños!

For anyone who's read my reviews, you know that I'm a fan of mom and pop places, and avoid chains when I can. So, me and some homies decided to check this place out. Decent food. Not great, but not bad. Just A OK. I'd eat the food again. My only real concern with this place is the service is pretty slow... We went through about three baskets of chips before our food came out. With some improvements in the service, I'd become a fan, but their service was just a bit too slow and forgetful.

Yuck. This is lousy Mexican food by any standards. I should've known there was trouble because they advertise cheeseburgers on the window as you come in. Not worth it and I won't return.

We had a good experience here. The service was good and food was good. I had the enchiladas (chicken&pork) and I thought they were good. I tried the burrito as well, and the green chili is really good. The portion size is average, but filing. Plates are around $10 for most things (maybe a dollar or two too high compared to some other mexican places). They could maybe update the restaurant to the changing Olde Town, but at the same time it keeps the authentic feel. Its worth checking out if you're in the mood for Mexican and are in Olde Town.

Chips and salsa the only halfway decent part of their food. Beware of the sign that says you only get one free refill on your drink. Really? Place is dirty. My boyfriend likes it there, but I dread it when we have to eat there. Stay away from the carne asada. The second the food was delivered I could tell it was nasty. The taste was like old meat. Absolutely disgusting. Never was asked why both mine and my boyfriends plate was barely touched. That was the first and last time we ever ordered the carne asada. Waitress is usually unfriendly and you never know what type of service you will get. No consistency. The last time I was there a mom brought in her little girl about 3 years old to use the bathroom and this mom was told no!!!! Never again.

I have been coming to this restaurant for several years. They are not a chain. Everything is made from scratch. Their soft rellenos are cooked in an egg soufflé wrap as they should be, not in some type of wonton wrap or weird dough like some restaurants have. The green chili is just the right amount of heat without burning your mouth. The enchilada sauce is delicious, and I love that they know to put chopped onions on the cheese enchiladas. I love the food here and highly recommend it. Not your El Tapatio packaged food- but homemade Authentic Mexican food. Definitely the best in Arvada.

I love this restaurant! It is family owned and the service is ALWAYS great! The breakfast burritos are amazing! The chips and salsa are also great! I would reccomend this to anyone in Old Town Arvada.

I like the food at Mi Tierra and service has always been excellent. The salsa is fresh and spicy and the green chile is a bit watered down, but I think has good flavor and spices. It isn't hot by my standards, but most people can handle it. My mom likes the place, too and she can cook great, authentic Mexican food.

I ate here recently and was not impressed. I am used to San Diego-style Mexican food but this was both different and not as good. I can adjust to local differences but not plain, mediocre food. I had the juevos de chorizo (eggs and pork) plate, which comes with a large dollop of their greeen chil sauce, rice, beans and a couple of tortillas. the green chil sauce is just sort of thick and blah. The rice & frijole's seemed like they came out of a can, not fresh or homemade at all. The chorizo was good but not great. The chips & salsa you receive as you are seated were the kind you could buy in a grocery store. I expect more from a sit down restaurant. The atmosphere is taco shop standard, not dirty but not fancy either. Overall, I'm still searching for a place to equal any Roberto's in San Diego.

Clean establishment. Seated immediately and served within minutes. Perfect spice and flavor salsa served with fresh chips. If looking for a quick bite this is it. Good Mexican food.

I have been going to Mi Tierra for years. Their food is simple Mexican and their staff are always friendly and service is typically fast. Their pricing is very inexpensive, so you can go out for dinner for cheap! But, I finally decided I will not be going back as the place just needs to be updated. It is unfortunately too dirty and their carpet is so bad I could not eat. I wish they could clean the place up, as I did like their food.

So they just don't get it. Good food service bad. Can't get your order right , don't care. If they make it, it will be a small miracle. Whish they could figure out the basics of a small business. Make the customer happy and you win. Guess we come here as a special gift. Smile say thanks. And food is ok?????? And were open for us not the customer!!!!!!

Not so much. Chip and salsa to start and the chips are stale? So much for putting your best foot forward. The salsa had a kick, but not from anything meaningful like good flavor combinations, more from a dried spice jar. A small combination plate looked promising - a beef taco, a cheese enchilada and a green smothered tamale. The taco shell was stale like the chips. The tamale was probably the best item on the plate. Too much salt in the enchilada sauce wrecked the whole thing. The fact that the lettuce and tomato garnishes were the best part of this meal is revealing and sad. The interior is ghastly. While we've all seen plenty of places that manage to turn limited budget and quirkiness into assets, that is not the case here. Standard tables and chairs, TV's hung with cables exposed, a grimy candy vending area that would probably scare off most prudent parents and an absolutely horrifying chair made of sticks of pine that was painful to behold. Toss that piece on the fire or putting it in your backyard at home if you like it so much. The service started out ok with a prompt greeting and a drink order, but quickly deteriorated. I was there in the middle of the afternoon and the place was not even a quarter full, but somehow my server was always too busy. I even had trouble making simple eye contact and waving her down to let her know I was leaving the money on the table. I suppose it is somewhat normal when an area like Olde Town Arvada is experiencing renewal and growth that there will be some stragglers. I hope Mi Tierra is able to address some of these issues and fully capitalize on the up and coming neighborhood that is their home. I sincerely do, because I enjoy a good Mexican combo platter.

A PERFECT example of bad Mexican food. Super bland and blah. The service was good. I got the Cheese Enchilada with Rice and Beans. The enchilada sauce tastes like it was out of a can. The rice was VERY dry. The beans were so bland, I couldn't taste anything except mush. Go elsewhere!

The green chili smothering my combination plate was fine, not like Velveeta cheese sauce but an ordinary green chili. I had the combo with a tamal, cheese enchilada with onions, crispy relleno, and burrito. It was all nothing out of the ordinary but tasty. Good, average Mexican restaurant food. The side of chicharrones was great, as was the standard margarita. We chose this restaurant because it was within range for a friend in a power wheelchair, and she likes it. I would definitely not object to eating here again. Quite a few customers were obviously regulars. It makes me wonder what was going on in this restaurant to bring about some of the bad reviews, but everything was in order when we were there. Some of the prices did seem a little high. Overall, okay.

This was a horrible experience. Food was gross. This was recommended to me on Twitter as being authentic compared to Fuzzy's. Fuzzy's isn't authentic, but it's good. This was so bad. Food looked like it can from a can, nothing seemed fresh. Their "ground beef" appeared to resemble the look and taste of something from Taco Bell. The chips were incredibly salty. The service was the worst we have had in at least a year at a restaurant. We got water with our meal, water was gone and we never got anymore. We had to find our waitress to get anything we needed. The people next to us left and their table sat dirty the rest of our meal. The place was packed and food was coming out way too quickly. Why? I know Arvada lacks good Mexican food, but save yourself the money. Never again.

I didn't have high expectations of Mi Tierra based on other Yelp reviews, but the uncaring waitress served to underwhelm even my low hopes for a lunch at Mi Tierra. Mi Tierra has a great location just steps from Olde Wadsworth in Olde Town Arvada. They undoubtedly have plenty of foot traffic due to their location, and one could posit that is a reason they are in business. Upon arrival, an unfriendly hostess escorted us to a table wordlessly. A brief visit from a waitress to took our order, brought drinks and food but did not visit otherwise. I had to flag the waitress down twice for requests. We never did get our drinks refilled despite draining four of five cups. She seemed bothered and upset that she had customers to wait on. I ate both the Super Nachos and a Carne Asada Burrito. The meat quality was poor in both dishes, and the food quality seemed to be similar to a fast food restaurant. The Super Nachos came with about 12 chips and were heaped with various toppings to hide the chips. The dish reminded me of what could be found at a high school sporting event. The carne asada was tough and not favorably seasoned. We weren't the only table with extremely poor service. A woman at a nearby table spent nearly five minutes wandering the restaurant trying to find someone to give her a drink refill. Overall, it's hard to imagine visiting Mi Tierra by choice after having been there once. The only thing that allowed me to give two stars instead of one star was the tasty green chili on the burrito and good salsa they provided.

First and foremost, I am a fan of the food. Not the best but it is disguised enough as authentic Mexican to fool someone who doesn't know any better. What I'm not a fan of is the atmosphere and service. The decor is quite laughable actually; dusty, ripped booths, probably a few rodents if you look close enough. The waitresses seem annoyed by customers. The bill is paid at the front desk where you can kind of see the kitchen. I have been winked at and blown kisses by the cooks a few times as they sneakily mouth 'senorita' just loud enough to thoroughly creep me out. But hey, yay for green chili!

This Restaurant needs a serious management overhaul... Service non- existent.. Seated at a table near the door... (should have taken the cue and just walked out) Ordered our meal and some drinks .... Later much later drinks arrived with a small bowl of chips... And then ..... Nothing..... waited for 45 minutes.... watched people that arrived after us, order, have their food served and finish and leave... At 50 minutes a waitress came over and said the computer lost the order.... The order that she wrote down on an order book .... Right... If you have 50 minutes of your life to waste... Here's the place to do it!!!! As far as the drinks.... Frozen Margaritas 1/2 blended... Watered down .... The chips....well all 20 were ok... Obviously not impressed ... So many good restaurants, this is NOT one of them.

This is my go-to place for breakfast burritos. They are plenty big and I really like the green chili. The service can be a little slow on a Sunday, but I am never in a hurry when I'm there. I think the prices are very reasonable for the size of the burritos.

My girlfriend and I stopped by yesterday for a late lunch. Even though it was about 2pm there were still several tables enjoying their food. They close at 3pm so I was worried we'd be the last ones in there but there were 3 or 4 others that came in after us so that made me feel better. I got a large combo so I could try out a few of their menu items, and I was hungry! Mine came with a chicken enchilada, a tamale, a chile relleno (crispy), and a bean burrito. Everything was smothered, the last 3 items in a pretty decent green chile. It was a little on the thin side and they didn't pour much on there but it had a nice little kick to it. Not too hot at all, just right on my spice-meter! The service was good, even with us coming in the last hour they were open. They were all very nice to us. We weren't into it this time but there is a "full" bar available, focusing on variations of margs, and plenty of beer.. There's street parking out front and a few lots nearby. Add one more place to go in Old Towne Arvada, as I know we'll be back!

Very rude person working here. Zero stars from us. Will be calling the manager to complain about the servers rude attitude.

I've been avoiding this place at the recommendation of a friend that has been around Arvada for a long time but had lunch there today with a different friend. I thought it was a pretty decent Chicano- Mex combination type of place. I only had the al pastor tacos (only available as an order of 3 and at $9 not a value) and my friend that eats here fairly often had a steak burrito. The tacos weren't loaded with meat but did come with grilled onions and avocado. I used the salsa that came with the chips on the tacos and then also hit it with some Tapatio brand bottled hot sauce. No chile heat to their food which is a bummer but in the "good-Mex" free zone of Arvada... in a pinch Mi Tierra will do.

I LOVE this place! It's the best Mexican food I've found in my area so far, and I grew up in Southern California close to the border, and I know good Mexican food. It looks like a dive and isn't the cleanest place in the world, but the food is spectacular and well priced. They even make their own beans! I've ordered several things there--all delicious--but my favorites are the mole (I think it was a special) and the cheese enchiladas with onions on top. Heavenly. The service is always fast and friendly. And I just learned they are open for breakfast on the weekends! But parking is a bitch.

A solid 2 here. Took my lovely daughter to lunch yesterday. The service was really good, the food just average. They actually had a sign on the walls stating that you will only receive 1 free refill on beverages and no to go cups for drinks. I will consume several glasses of ice tea during any meal, let alone lunch on a hot day. I won't be back.

Checked this place out was let down. I ordered the enchiladas and they were ok. Not outstanding and not the worst thing I've ordered. The rice seemed not so fresh and the beans were straight from a can. I can say , they didnt get a 1 star because the plate was very hot and the food was up to temp. I HATE being served cold food so that was nice. My boyfriend ordered a combo plate with tamale, burrito, enchilada and crispy chili. He had a taste of the " green chili" and gave me a weird face. I had a sample, and I have to say its the weirdest green chili I've had in a while. It simply had no flavor. Seemed to be a cheesy- no flavor kind of sauce. No spice , no nothing. I don't know what they call it but it's not something I could identify. There are plent of places that have excellent green chili, I don't think I will come back to this one.

1/2 a star for the barely ok but not great food 1/2 a star for my margarita that tasted like mix and no other stars for the service.... So one of my aunt and uncles kept going on to about this place ad it happened tone in one of my favorite places to hangout (olde town Arvada) and one of my favorite types of food (Mexican) so I went in with high hopes and I was completely kicked in the face. The lady ordered a a la carte steak burrito adding green chili and cheese for 4.50 plus 1.00 for cheese and a dollar for green chili, not bad but small and the steak was kinda flavorful. I had the mi Tierra burrito that was more like a fajita seasoning burrito and less flavor then the regular steak... My son had a Kids quesadilla that was small, flat and safe enough to give to a teething baby. The service, we had to waive the waitress down to take our order, bring us drinks, ask for more chips, refill our drinks, ask about food at 20 mins, ask about my margarita at 22 mins and after 30minsof waiting on our food i waived her down for a side of sour cream that you think would come on my burrito but instead was a 1.50 for a dollop of sour cream.... Then a final waive for the check. I wish I could stamp this review with a big red "FAIL!!!!" Stamp

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
