Best breakfast burritos in arvada. Be advised, this review is based only on 1 breakfast burrito experience. And it depends on what you look for in yours. What I like, is great flavor and uniform texture in the meat, eggs, and potatoes. I don't like large clumps of egg or slightly undercooked potato chunks like Chubby's or Santiago's. Anyway, I got chorizo, husband got same and bacon, and I got one meatless with no chile for my kiddo. $8.10. Can't beat that! The Green chile is flavorful with just the right amount of spiciness. All were delicious. The meats were both great, the egg was chopped up fine, and the potatoes were like soft hashbrowns. Can't wait to have them again. Oh, and there's a drive through, so you don't even have to log the kids in to pick up your order.

This is a solid place for affordable Mexican food. The margaritas are good and stiff as well. Don't let the drive-thru scare you away, the food is much better than it seems.

First of all, let me say: I hate Arvada. It's a boring, chain-filled 'burb and the most miserable summer of my life I spent living there. (That's how I know I hate it!) Sorry for the negativity, but it's important in that the fact that this place was right across the road saved me. Great food, decent prices. Some of the richest, most tender pork I ever had. The service wasn't overtly friendly, but sufficient, and the place was inviting enough. A great option of you have the misfortune of being stuck in Arvada. Just thinking about it makes me crave some Mexican eats.

Outstanding Mexican food! Had a combo plate and the girlfriend had enchiladas in mole sauce. Very flavorful!

This is a fabulous hole-in-the-wall Mexican eatery. The waitress was lovely and attentive; the manager took time to check in on us. The Enchiladas Potrancas were deliciosas. The guacamole was also yummy- chunky and aromatic.

This is a neighborhood staple and for good reason. The green chili is the purist variety, with chiles and pork and loaded with pleasantly hot flavor. Chiles rellenos - always gooey and good and you can get them soft (my favorite) or crispy. The tamales are a must-try, with generous meat and a decently hot red chile-ness to them. We love to pick up tamales for a dinner and a couple of days' lunches with a side of the green chili! Other recommendations: carne adobada - plentiful and loaded with flavor; chimichangas - everything you want in a fried burrito. I especially like the simply done Spanish rice and the beans have that homey flavor that really hits the spot. It's a small and humble family-run place, so if you're looking for anything but down-to-earth ambiance and simply good Mex-American food you won't like it. Oh yeah, the margaritas are tasty, too, and they have a decent selection of beers.

We go here once or twice a week for lunch. Their salsa is excellent and their tacos al carbon are delicious. Service is fast and they are very friendly. They are opening a second location over by 64th and Simms so we can't wait to try that out!

If I could rate this no stars I would but since it's not an option i will go for one. Just tried to order delivery online and after waiting for the said hour, i called to check the status. After scrambling and leaving me on hold for five minutes I was told my order was just received. I explained to her I received a confirmation email from over an hour ago at this point. I wasn't interested in waiting another hour for my food, so I asked to speak to their manager. After five more minutes of scrambling, I was informed they did not know who their manager was. The staff here is clearly not competent enough to handle online ordering or customer complaints. Maybe this review can save somebody some time.

Wooooooowwww.....ya know, I was scared to death to try this place due to all the bad or mediocre reviews it had. But in desperation (and yes, I know my writing skills are showing a lack of, but it's almost 3 a.m. so gimme a break plz) for some good ol' tacos, burritos and other white washed Mexi fare, we ordered. Am I ever happy I did so. First of all, it came almost exactly when we were told it would, despite the nasty weather outside. And it was hot and fresh. I had a combo meal with a crispy relleno, enchilada, taco, beans and rice. Pretty darned good for delivery. We also had the relleno (is that even spelled right?) nachos, and the queso rancho or something or other, cheesecake, flan and sopas. The flan was a 3 star or so, I'd eat it but I've had better. Same with the chz cake. The sopas were thick and doughy and not too sweet. I like mine a little thinner, but it's a taste thing. The next day we ordered for lunch and it was just as good, even if the service was not as nice. Yelpers beware....this place is definitely cheezy, but I LOOOOOOVE cheese. And Mexi blends are my favorites including cheddar. All in all, we will be ordering from here again, (money permitting of course)...no, it's not "authentic" Mexican fare as I've had from some of the other places, but it is similar to what I grew up eating as gringo girl in love with the gringo idea of Mexican food.

There are several things I really like about this place. The top 2 are: they deliver (!!!) and they have some great inexpensive quick items. I work very close to this restaurant and I used to live right up the street (so I now miss getting it delivered to my home). The food is good overall. Some things are terrific (I can't get enough of the Relleno Nachos) and some things are just okay (tacos). They have $1 breakfast burritos which are actually pretty good as well as $1 bean burritos. I have run over there quite often for the quick burritos to go (much better than getting the McDonalds accross the street). I have also sat down and ordered. The wait staff is very nice. I think it is family owned and operated.

If this is the highest rated Mexican place in Arvada then that is a true testament to just how bad Mexican food is in Arvada. This place is mediocre at best and also has terrible service.

If you like authentic Mexican food this place is a must! Their mole is outstanding, fajitas were amazing and they serve large portions too! They also have this awesome deal a dozen of tostadas, taco, tamales, enchilada, burritos for $9.50 :) ultimate deal here!

First time visit and will definitely be going back. Sat afternoon about 6pm. The place was half full and the service was a tad slow for the amount of waitresses but nothing to really complain about. The only thing waited for was waters which took a while to be delivered after asking for them after drinks were ordered. For the food: I ordered chicken fajitas and the chicken was done perfectly and there was a good amount of chicken in the mix of peppers and onion which were also prepared very well. There was a good amount of beans, rice, guacamole, shredded lettuce, and sour cream for the filler. The shredded cheese was lacking and the only really big complaint I have was that it only came with 2 flour tortillas. They said the corn came with 4 which may have handled the amount of food but 2 flour tortillas only was enough for half of the meal. Other than that it was great food at a good price and I am stoked to try out the drive thru for breakfast soon.

Well we finally went back so that I could try the "mocajete from hell". It was pretty okay and much like I feared, all show and no go. I guess this hell is a lot cooler than others I've suffered through. The food here is pretty good but there is better not too far away so, " Adios el Mocajete de Infierno, hasta luego.". add. I was the gringo getting the chile sauna this time. At least it was a lot lighter on the grease than the one the fajitas filled table got. Note to all. If it sizzles, flames, or is accompanied by an audible gasp when served, the kitchen and front are probably laughing (if not outwardly then) inwardly at you for ordering an ASNG dish and paying a premium price for it. I worked in a couple three chinese restaurants that all had their versions of ASNG dishes. Pretty funny.

This is my favirote mexican food place!! The food is great!!! Although the service usually by very young girls which i don't care for, they seem to not care much about their job.. but still recommend this place to a lot of people!

After years of driving by, we stopped in for dinner last night. The dining area is small and filled with large booths. A waitress seated us right away and we were brought chips and salsa. The salsa was spicy, but lacked much other flavor and the chips seemed a bit stale. We ordered margaritas which were decent... nothing to write home about... just your typical margarita. The menu was extensive and I was excited to see that they served breakfast. I'll definitely have to try out a breakfast burrito. We ordered the tamale plate and the green chile bowl. The tamales were good and served with green chile on top and a side of rice and refried beans. I didn't like the flavor of the refried beans, but the tamales tasted fresh and the pork was tender. The green chile was served in this scorching hot lava rock type bowl that was shaped like a pig. The pork was tender and the green chile had really good flavor. This was definitely the highlight of the dinner. The restaurant also has a drive-through which can definitely come in handy for the breakfast. I will give it another try for breakfast, but for dinner I'd just say it's average.

Ordered delivery from this place and was pretty disappointed with the overall quality of the food. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. It seemed like our order got made, and then sat around for 30 minutes, and then it got delivered, as everything was kind of stale. I'll try this place in person, as I think if the food had been fresh, it would have made all the difference.

This place is AWFUL! I do not understand how they are still in business! Food is mediocre, service is TERRIBLE! For now the 2nd time we have ordered for delivery we have waited over two hours, each time with an approximate 49 minute wait time. When called to check in on the food, we were twice hung up on! We are DONE ordering here. SHAME on the owners. Please join me in not ordering from here so that they go out of business.

Service is on point! Salsa is super spicy! Such amazing flavor with the heat! Not just burn your mouth for no reason. Portions are decent...will go back. Authentic Mexican food!

Me and the wife really enjoy this place for take out. Prices are fair, menu is huge, and food is always ready quickly. We think it's definitely among the best Mexican food places in the Arvada area.

I went to the place 8am on Sunday, when I walked in they told me they are not open. On their web site and at their door said they open at 8am on Sunday. I waste 30 minutes of my time. I'll not go back.

  • Sam R.

I'm sitting here, waiting for my delivery. We will see if it comes, but that might be because my place isn't exactly easy to find. I know the good delivery places if they are able to find my house without any issues and within a decent amount of time. But that's not why I'm writing, as I haven't even managed to try the food yet. As a precaution, their website is really jacked up and wrong. The hours do not reflect the same as yelp and I'm still confused. Pretty sure they close at 9, but I have no idea exactly. It also clearly says on their online ordering that the min order is $10, which is pretty normal to be between $10-$15 and with a delivery fee. That's cool. I placed the order online and it went through with all the pertinent information. About 20 mins later (as I'm still waiting) I get a call and they say the min order is $15 but they delivered this time. That's great, but you have got to keep on top o' yo shit. As I'm going on 40 mins now, I have no idea if I'll get to rate the actual food, at this point I really suppose I don't care what it tastes like as long as it's decent (and get's here).

Overall a good Mexican restaurant, I really enjoy the tacos, but the real hidden winner is the Tortas (huge & delicious). Most everything else I have tried on the menu is satisfying as well. I haven't gotten food for take out, but I have heard the food quality is similar to dining in.

I love little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. This one is great I have been there about 10 times and have never really had to wait. The food comes out really fast and is always good. And the service is always great.

We've been talking about going to Las Potrancas for a while now and hadn't made it until last Saturday for lunch. Me, my girlfriend, and her BFF settled into a booth - and by settled I mean the cushions didn't have any stuffing left in them so you really were pretty much in place once you got to the bottom of the bench. No biggie, some of my best meals were in places like this. Even the "not that friendly" welcome when we walked in didn't chase us off. As part of our order we got an app of Rajas Con Queso to start us out. I'm the first to admit I have a bit of a thing for queso in general, and am always on the lookout for something new. While we waited we had some chips & salsa, not bad but tasted like they were store bought. After almost a half an hour (and a second basket of chips) I was losing patience with the situation. It's not like it was that busy in there, only a couple of other tables. And even with a couple of carryouts and drive through orders there's no way it should take that long to get an app out. When it did arrive it was mostly all peppers with a little cheese spread melted over the top. While it was not what I thought it would be the flavors were VERY GOOD! It came with tortillas and the little pepper wraps were quite tasty. Not surprisingly the rest of the food showed up a couple of minutes later. I know it takes some effort by the front and back of the house to time courses out, but it is always a drag when course stacking happens. My combo was pretty below average on all fronts. Dry chicken, overdone rellenos, and an overall lack of any real taste to the food. The spicy salsa helped a little, but it could only go so far. I've heard they make good breakfast burritos, and they deliver too. So I won't write them off completely, maybe it was just a bad day for them.

Good breakfast. Huevos Rancheros was good!! Tortillas are nice and fresh. Ordered my 2 year old french toast and sausage and it was very good. Better then a lot of those regular breakfast places. Good size portions. Friendly staff

Other than the service being a little slow, and the prices being a bit high, (his only complaints) the tacos al carbon were amazing. We split the meal and were full from all the chips, and we split a relleno. Such a tasty dish and with 4 on a plate, we got our money's worth. We would recommend this place.

Service was excellent and friendly. Food was great. Will definitely come back, and refer. Don't let the small dining area fool you. Prices were right on. Thumbs up.

Maybe it's not fair to rate a restaurant based on a Mother's Day meal. This place was overflowing with customers and obviously understaffed, with 2 servers and another person pouring water and refilling salsa for the whole place. Plus, they have a drive-thru, delivery and take-out service. Utter chaos. Hubs and I are vegans and my husband proclaimed the vegetable fajitas "the worst" he's ever had. It looked as if they had dumped a frozen vegetable mix on top of a hot skillet and called it good. I had the vegetable burrito and am fairly certain there were frozen veggies in there as well. Drinks were average. The best thing about the meal was the salsa, which had an excellent kick. Nobody came back and checked on our meals, and it took 2 requests to get our check, and then nobody came back to collect. I went to the front counter and was honest about our experience.... not mean, but honest. I also pointed out that the check said "all day happy hour on Sunday" but the drinks were full-priced. That was corrected, and apologies were given for the service. I'd like to try and go back on a slower night but I'll have to go alone, as the other 2 in my party vowed to never return to this place.

There was drama today over $3 with them - I actually blogged for them previously because they were so wonderful esp. for bulk burrito orders. Lately their burritos have gone downhill along with their customer service. I really like the owner and have worked him in the past for large orders, but lately it has been tough working with some of the ladies that work there. Monday is half price on some of their meals - don't forget to ask for that and good luck! P.S. Ask for a receipt!

We really enjoyed our family visit last Sunday. The place is brand new and has a very cool new bar to enjoy! Will have to belly up soon to try a Margarita! They have an excellent display of all their high quality tequilas! Love it! It does still smell like fresh paint in there but you get over that quickly. We found the food to be very good quality at a reasonable price. We had the Fajitas! Not bad at all. My daughter had a burrito she said was very good but a little skimpy on the green chili sauce. The wait staff was very attentive and took care of all our requests quickly. The new furniture and the bright colors they use are awesome in my book! Love this place and will be back! Welcome to the neighborhood!

We've been going here for some time now, but thought I'd write a review after last night. My favorite item on their menu is the torta with the adobada, and they knocked it out of the park last night. I made sure I filled up on chips and fries so that I could take half home. My SO had the chicken en mole and perhaps they've changed the recipe but the mole was so ridiculously good, it was bonkers. Love the place!

  • Kim B.

I love their #11 with chicken, no beans, smothered. Get it in jumbo and it lasts me for several days. Even though their drive-thru can be slow, it's because they make it fresh so it's worth the wait. Their green chili is the BEST! The people there are great too.

Do not go here or order from here. I ordered delivery And it never came. I went back and forth on the phone with them over a 3 hour period while they promised it would be delivered. Their resolution was free chips and salsa. Beware!

FLAVOR, VALUE, FRESHNESS This is a humble place with simply delicious food at a great price. While we first started coming for the cheap and tasty breakfast burritos, we started coming for dinner as well the past couple of months. I'm in love with all of the taco offerings, most especially carne asada, carnitas, and adobada, all of which are gorgeously flavored, piping hot, a bit greasy (the way I like 'em!) and nicely garnished. Even the refried beans have such a nice flavor that I don't ignore them here as I do other places. I've been multiple times. For those who didn't appreciate the service, note: If you treat the staff politely, you will receive polite, attentive service.

A little piece of heaven in Arvada. Small, home style Mexican restaurant. I had tamales. Delecious. Packed with plenty of seasoned meat. Very friendly, quick service. Large drinks and plenty of chips and salsa. Salsa tastes home made--fresh, spicy, with a hint of celantro. Reasonably priced.

I was so excited to find a Mexican food place that delivered, especially one with such a varied menu. I got online and used their online ordering system, which was a okay. After I submitted my order, the online system told me that my food would be delivered in 45-60 minutes. I even received a confirmation email from the restaurant. We anxiously awaited our meal. An hour and a half later, we tried to call to see where our food was, but there was no answer. My husband found an obscure page on their website saying that they were only open until 8 pm. (I placed the order at 8:15) I had looked and only saw that they were open "all day" on Sundays. We were even charged for the meal. We are so disappointed in the whole situation, that I don't think we will give them another try.

Awesome breakfast burritos. We had the Golden burrito and it was so big we shared. Green chili was spicey and yummy. You can tell how great a place is by its clientele. Great takeout menu and prices. Definitely a must place to eat.

This is truly as good as it gets. I have been coming here for years. Believe me I've tried a lot of Mexican restaurants around Denver. This is the best, period! Its green chile is to die for. The shredded beef is seasoned absolutely perfectly. The rellenos are amazing. Its inexpensive and absolutely exceptional!

Love it! Pros: Great pork They'll put a fried egg on anything Good chips Fast friendly service Reasonably priced Have liquor license Cons: Bit of a dive, especially the patio Salsa's just ok They can get backed up in the kitchen on a few occasions Margaritas are just ok I will always have cravings for their pork burrito smothered in green chili.

Seriously fantastic lunch here! I enjoyed a lunch special with crispy chili rellenos, beans and rice for $4.50!!! My husband had a smothered burrito which he enjoyed immensely. Great salsa and homemade chips. The food was delicious, inexpensive and service was friendly! What more can you ask for! I'll be back if I am in the neighborhood!

We needed a few breakfast burritos prior to heading fishing for the day. We by - passed Mama's, Big Burrito and Ralbierto's for Las Potrancas. At 730 am The drive thru neon sign was illuminated and said "open". We waited., honked, watched staff walk by and ignore us. We left. Would it have been so hard to open the window and say you are closed? Customer service is poor and slow.

A co-worker had a burrito from there, and it looked good so I thought I would give it a try. My husband and I both agree they have the best refried beans we have tried. I have only done the take-out. They have $1 regular bean, cheese, green chile, my favorite and a $3 big burrito, my husbands favorite. They also have yummy 99 cent enchiladas and 99 cent tostados. We did try the $1 egg, potato and green chile burrito and the green chile was so hot I couldn't finish it. It took my tongue 2 days to recover. My co-worker said it can be hit or miss on how spicy the green chile is. There tortilla chips are nice and crispy, the salsa a little to spicy for me. Great place to go to feed a family from there to go menu. Plan on eating in sometime.

Love this place, been going for years. Service is fast. They have a drive threw if you don't want to get out of your car. They have updated the inside. Staff are always nice and helpful. Salsa is yummy. I don't think I've ever had a bad meal there.

I was a little skeptical as we arrived, but we had a perfect experience for a great value. Everything we ordered was carefully prepared and piping hot. The carnitas and chiles rellenos were especially good. And the service was attentive - three different people came to check on us and make sure we were pleased. The salsa that we tried was better than most. I get the sense that this place has improved a lot recently! Recommended for a very inexpensive but tasty Mexican meal with a lot of variety on the menu. They also have a good-looking breakfast menu and some super-cheap weekly specials. We'll be back!

I used to love coming to this place to get quick drive through service. Today marked my last day ever going to las potrancas. I waited for 45 minutes in the drive-through for my meal. I was then told to pull forward and wait 10 more minutes for my meal. The man behind me got his meal almost immediately. mine was a simple meal that takes only 10 minutes at most usually. Then when I got home, my food was completely cold and I had to reheat it after only a five minute drive from the restaurant. I didn't get any Any apologies or explanations for how long it took to make such a simple meal. I'm going to take my business elsewhere. There are plenty of other good Mexican restaurants in this area that have fast service. If you can't handle getting a meal out in 10 minutes, I don't have a drive-through.

I think our main complaint about this place was the temperature of the restaurant: it was so stuffy and hot that it was uncomfortable to eat there. As I sat, my face began sweating (and, admittedly, this was only made worse with the consumption of a margarita). The restaurant was tiny. We walked in, and there we were, right in the middle of the dining area, which was filled with people sitting at brightly-colored furniture. Our own table had a rainbow-colored parrot and other jungle scenes! I ordered the house margarita and the Quesadilla Ranchera, with chorizo. The margarita had good alcohol content, though it probably came at the cost of the flavor of the drink. The quesadilla was okay. I think I should have opted for the chicken. I guess I'm used to the less-authentic types of chorizo I've consumed from the grocery store; I wasn't ready for spices used in the chorizo at Las Potrancos (probably cinnamon and cloves). My mother had the crispy chili rellenos, and they were pretty good, actually -- just as good as those we've had elsewhere at Old Santa Fe, Tequila's, and El Tapatio. My fiancee had a combination plate with a beef taco, beef enchilada, and beef burrito -- all of which he said was okay. The service was bit haphazard. It seemed like our waiter switched mid-meal. We were asked whether we wanted more salsa, and we replied "yes," but the salsa was forgotten, and we had to ask a second time. I didn't ask for a glass of water to go with my margarita, and so, as a result, I wasn't given one. I wasn't asked whether I wanted a second margarita, either. I ended up drinking my fiancee's Diet Coke.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla.
