My husband and I wanted Chinese food so we decided to give this place a try. Instead of dining inside we decided to bring the food home, we thought that would be best since we have a rambunctious toddler. Well, the food was great! I loved my meal. We had the walnut prawns, chicken fried rice, dumplings and beef chow fun. Very tasty with just the right amount of saltiness. I would have given this place more stars but the filling in the dumplings was not amazing and the walnut prawns could of had a little more sauce. Overall I enjoyed my meal and it's open late night. A plus for those late night munchies!

I came here specifically for their dim sum. My friends and I came for Sunday lunch and it wasn't too crowded. We waited for about 15 minutes for a table. Food was good, but my main gripe with this place is how often we were overlooked by the employees. Since we were ordering dim sum, we waited for the carts to come around so we could pick out what we wanted. However, the employees with the carts BARELY stopped by our table. Yes, we were tucked away in the back. But whose fault is that? One of my friends ended up just walking up to the carts to get what we wanted. Not a very memorable experience. Decent dim sum, but I could go without the dine-in experience.

I walked here while my motorcycle was being serviced to get some lunch. I didn't really know what I was getting into especially when the lady walking the dishes around asked me what I wanted. Is this normal for Cantonese restaurants? I'm not totally sure what I ordered but all of it tasted pretty good. I was making a fool out of myself trying to eat the short ribs with chopsticks (I still don't understand how people do this) so the servers politely placed a fork on my plate. I'm pretty sure they were making fun of me and I just didn't understand it, but I'm OK with that. They asked me to pay with cash so I don't think they accept cards.

I think I agree with the average rating .... Interesting spot for Dim Sum....something I've been trying to find all week with my limited lunch hour. Arrived shortly after they opened. No carts of goodness rolling around yet but was seated and provided a menu. Holy crap! I have no idea what the stuff I like is called! A few folks were passing thru with random stuff I also pass.... The guy that sat me, parked me next to some Chinese guy that must have been 90 and he sat there smacking his lips the WHOLE time I was there....please for the love of God stop! I asked my server (or maybe he wasn't) several questions, but alas he either didn't understand or speak English so I always had to wait for a translator. Fun times. Service was slow, place was clean and food was mediocre at best. I did enjoy the spare ribs and the shrimp balls. The seafood dumplings are a rip off, it's a pork dumpling with the smell of seafood at the most.

First and last time to this place. You can tell that the restaurant has been here for awhile by looking at the live seafood tanks and the decor. We came here for dim sum and was hoping that they would not disappoint. Well, my hopes did not come true.I ordered the typical dim sum, sieu mi, and tofu and both were very salty. After eating the dim sum, I now have a salty street taste There are a lot better dim sum restaurants in Newark and Fremont, and I found a bad one. Don't waste your money here.

I came from lunch/dimsum and had a horrible experience. - During the 1.5 hours there, we only got 3 orders of dimsum.... Shu Mai, pork balls, and mango pudding. - The mango I got by desperation bc I was so hungry and a cart miraculously came by our table -No one asked what beverages we wanted -We left really hungry and got food else where -Maybe you have to be able to speak Chinese to get decent service here With that being said.. our bill was literally $11. I will not be returning. There are plenty of great dimsum places in Fremont and Union City. -Mayflower -Asian pearl -House of Dumplings -BK

I've been coming to this place since I was a little girl and now that I'm a bigger girl, I still come here. They assume that I don't know Chinese, so I get greeted in English, which is way awesome. Food is consistent and dim sum trucks were aplenty on a 11am Saturday morning. Their shui mai's are 4 in an order, which is insane and they're huge.

Still going strong Good prices, good food, and good service as far as dim sum restaurants are concerned. Glad this restaurant is still here after all these years

We've been to Fu Lam Moon on a couple of occasions, and love that the food is good, fresh, the service is always so friendly, and we don't ever have to share the restaurant with a loud, rambunctious crowd (even at 11 am on a Sunday morning). Their restaurant is beautifully set-up to cater to the semi casual brunch crowd or to a fancier dinner or banquet in the evening. The servers walking around with carts of dim sum are extremely friendly, and, despite the language barrier, do their very best to explain what things are to you or make sure that they get you what you need. I'd have to say, in all honesty, that the food gets 5/5 stars -- this is coming from a full fledged San Franciscan growing up on Clement St. dimsum, so you can count on the fact that I've tried several different types of dimsum in my life!

I think their Dim Sum isn't as good as Mayflower or Asian Pearl. But I think their prices are great. The wait isn't as bad as the other dim sum restaurants in the area. When we have a large group, we usually come here because the prices are fair and they do a good job handling a large group. The service is fast. The people pushing the carts seem to try to get to all the tables. I would give them 2.5 stars. But I'm rounding up to 3 because my family wanted to go to dim sum while I was on a gluten elimination diet and my cousin was also on a specific diet. My mom asked the waiter to make a stir fry with vegetables and chicken, without soy sauce. They were a bit confused at first but they were able to make this request for us.

This place is trash! This is one of the worst Dim Sum spots I've ever gone to. Bad customer service, dirty atmosphere, & on top of that the food isn't cook 100%. I will never ever come back to eat here again.

Came here on a Saturday night and the restaurant was fairly crowded. We were seated quickly and began to check-out the menu. We ordered the Honey Glaze Prawns, Braised Tofu with Tender Greens, Peking Spare Ribs, 1/2 order of Fried Chicken and their House Fried Rice. Portions were good sized. I enjoyed the Honey Glaze Prawns and Braised Tofu. Service was decent, but it took awhile to get our bill. Still need to try their dim sum.

Pros: -Cheap prices starting at $2.50 -Lunch specials can be served on weekends too -New manager is much nicer than the old one--goes out of his way to help customers (The old manager stepped down--Thank God!) Cons: -Long waits for lunch, any time of the week -Passive employees -Sitting at the corner tables gets less service and carts passing by Tip: -Best time to come is lunch! -Speaking Chinese here is a must! (Employees don't speak English) -Get here either very early or late for lunch For a family of 4, the bill came to $45 with tax and tip included. Would recommend this to people and would come back.

Nestled between the 880 exit ramp and eight hundred eighty furniture stores, you will find Fu Lam Moon. I told my Chinese friend that we were going to eat at Fu Lam Moon, and she didn't know what I was talking about because, apparently, in Mandarin it's pronounced Fu Ling Men. I assume their English translation is based of a Cantonese pronunciation, but I wouldn't blame them for changing the name to be less about fooling men. Anyway, my family often comes here for dim sum. Service was pretty good today. One of the waitresses went out of her way to bring us multiple plates that weren't on her cart. I would say quality is a-ok. Price is probably ok, too. Otherwise, I don't think my parents would choose to keep coming back here. Actually, this place is decent. I wouldn't give it 1 star like so many other people. I would give it more stars if it weren't for the occasional fly that circles our table (every time we come here...). Makes me wonder about the sanitary conditions behind the scenes. Can't fool men like me! In all seriousness, I think if the fish tanks in front were cleaner, and the flies were gone, I'd up the rating.

I haven't been to this restaurant in years. I heard they changed owner so my family came here to try it out. Nope, this restaurant did not change owner, same one. Nothing have changed, but the food is pretty descent. All the food we ordered were hot and fresh, we were surprised how packed this place was when we got here around 12pm. We had to wait a little bit to get a table. But the wait was not long.Their service was not bad either, they got us our tea and food when the food cart was not walking around. So not bad, since we were expecting shitting service since most chinese restaurant are rude, and disrespectful. The dim sum were fair price, not too expensive at all. Only $2.50 each. I don't get why people give this place a bad rating. Their food is good, and their service is not bad, maybe a little renovation and this place can be a 5 stars restaurant. Reading other people's yelp review, this place probably changed a bit since they came here. Well I'll definitely come back here with my parents. Even they agree this place should be a 4 stars rating. The atmosphere was clean and the food was yummy. I believe if people just give this place a second chance they would come back here again!

Came here to eat with my boyfriend's family for a Chinese New Year dinner. The service was great since we were able to speak Cantonese with them to order things and ask for their suggestions. They were honest about what was fresh and good that evening, so one extra star for them. Other than that, I have tasted better Chinese food/dinner meals elsewhere, so I rate this place A-OK. I was expecting my salt & peppered crab to be awesome since their seafood is fresh, but they cooked it too salty, so I didn't enjoy it much and it happens to be one of my favorite dishes when I go out to Chinese restaurants so I was a bit disappointed when it didn't taste up to pair - it is also a bit on the expensiver side. Their duck wasn't bad either. Don't really travel out here for Chinese food, but I probably won't be back.

3-4 stars for their food, but rounding down since I saw one of the owners bring out their Yorkie to the front of the restaurant. Even though it was 9:30pm on a Saturday night and the restaurant was mostly empty, that has to be some sort of a health code violation. In any case, we had originally come in for a late dinner around 8:30. There were two large tables at the time, and a couple of small tables. We ordered: -Honey Walnut Prawns (~$12, yelp.com/biz_photos/fu-l… ): Pretty good! They had a good amount of mayo sauce on the shrimp, but it was drowning in it. The honey walnuts were nice and crispy, and not too sweet. Highly recommended! -Pea Sprouts in Garlic Sauce (~$10, yelp.com/biz_photos/fu-l… ): Yum! The pea sprouts were super tender and delicious in the garlic sauce. Highly recommended! -Half a Peking Duck ( yelp.com/biz_photos/fu-l… ): Just so-so. This duck was very fatty, and although it had good flavor, the skin wasn't very crispy. I don't know if I would order this again. The worst part about eating here later on a Saturday night is that they were out of a lot of dishes. We tried getting BBQ pork, their special beef rib dish, and stuffed mushrooms, but they were out of all those dishes. My other complaint was that one of their servers kept trying to sell us on the freshwater shrimp they had in the tank. They said they would discount the price, and that it was a good deal, etc. etc. We ended up not ordering it, and when we walked out of the restaurant and saw the shrimp in the tank again, we realized why- half of the shrimp were belly up and barely alive! There's nothing more annoying than servers trying to sell you the crap inventory. They had a lot of servers working that night, but they don't really come to check up on you unless you flag them down. Overall, I enjoyed most of the dishes I had, and will probably come back at some point. Hopefully they will not be out of a bunch of dishes the next time! Parking in this center is easy since there aren't many other shops.

This place deserves more love than it's been getting on Yelp. I've been here three times in the past 4 months, each on a Saturday around 11am, and no one is here except for the smiling staff. In terms of my experience at other Dim Sum places, this place is probably the cleanest and best English-speaking servers ever (I don't know how to speak Cantonese but I wish). But it's definitely easy for my girlfriend and I to enjoy delicious a la carte Dim Sum. The waiters and waitresses are always walking around and making sure that the table is clean of empty dishes and are available to customers, which is pretty rare considering you have to raise your hand for like 5 minutes at any other Dim Sum restaurant before someone comes to you. I can't really find anything bad to say about this restaurant. I would definitely recommend this place to go get some quick and delicious Dim Sum.

Whenever my parents come to visit me, I would usually take them here since my mom only likes to eat Chinese food. I came here yesterday with my parents and this place was pretty dead. Majority of the items we wanted, was either not available or it's way overpriced. When our food arrived, the portions were definitely smaller and the prices went up. Since we were having a family meal, we had asked them to give us rice. When we opened the lid, the rice container was only half full. The food was good but it's definitely not worth coming back here because of the portions and the price.

Great food, good service. I live only 0.5 miles away from here, and because of the poor rating, I had never come here. Finally, last Sunday, we decided to give it a try. We arrived at lunch time, and were surprised of the long line waiting. It shouldn't happen to a bad restaurant. So today we came again. We are happy we did. The Dim sum is very good, place is clean, and the service is fine. They even cooked a dish according to my suggestion. My son is very picky when it comes to food, even he says this place is almost " as good as my favorite Cantoness restaurant back in China"! I will become a frequent customer here.

This past Friday, my dad was jonesing for some Dim Sum for lunch so my cousin and her husband took us to Fu Lam Moon restaurant in the Fremont area. I've been here a few times, and each time I came here, I must say the food is pretty good. I guess my cousin folks are regulars at this place, so they get the red carpet treatment when they come here. Service is by far 10 stars! Food came out quickly, fresh & hot! They even changed our plates several times while we ate...........kinda unheard of for me, as I do not get this kinda treatment when I eat Dim Sum in Honolulu. What can I say about the food..........well, a few outstanding dishes that came to my mind was the Chinese broccoli...........it was so big & tender. Nothing like I get in Honolulu. Also the Lobster noodle was OUTSTANDING! Fresh & very tasty! There is a lot of free parking in the private parking lot. If your ever in the Fremont area...........chance 'em! No can go wrong!!!!

We have been going to Fu Lam Moon for over 14 years. I don't recommend the Dim Sum but the Cantonese Seafood is what we usually come for. As you walk in there are fish tanks stacked on fish tanks filled with crabs, shrimp and fish. Because you can see your seafood swimming in the tanks you know it's fresh. There is a menu board with the seafood with the price per pound. It's not cheap but in the East Bay this is one of the better places for fresh Cantonese style seafood. I have had their dim sum and it's only OK and the lunch service is not as good as the dinner service. We usually order a fish and a crab. They serve a roasted beef rib (see pic) which is good. On the menu is also Peking Duck (pic). You can order a larger fish and have it cooked 3 ways. Giant clam can be served 2 ways, sashimi and soup. Service is good, except when they have the large tour groups that come in and take several banquet tables.

Yeah it's crap now. Don't go ever again... Want dimsum? Go to Asian Pearl or Saigon!! Willy's tip jar: Get Mcdonalds instead haha!!

It will be my last time to visit this place! Food quality was horrible when we were there for dinner at 7pm. We should get a hint that the restaurant was empty at the peak hours of the night. We ordered first honey roasted pork and roast duck; stir fried vegi. The meat was so very dry and not fresh, it felt like chewing bark! They didn't wash their vegi clean and I got lots of sandy stuff in my mouth! The experience was horrible and ruined my appetite! The one good thing was the waiter willing to exchange a different plates, but I had lost my confidence in their food. We end up re-ordered two take outs as replacement and left with stomach filled with sand and bark!!

Fu Lam Moon Seafood Restaurant, has been a staple Chinese restaurant here in Fremont, CA. It used to be the popular Chinese Restaurant, that was always super busy here on the weekends because everyone would come for lunch to "Yum Cha" and have great Dim Sum. The restaurant itself is decent in size and can accommodate quite a lot of people here during lunch and dinner. It's big enough to host a wedding reception, party or something along those lines. Unfortunately, now with many other Chinese Restaurants here in Fremont, including the popular, Asian Pearl Seafood Restaurant, in the Pacific Commons Shopping Center, and the growing BK's Bistro in Central Fremont, this place isn't quite as it used to be. Before all the other various different other Chinese restaurants opened up here in Fremont, this used to be the place to hit for good Dim Sum, however, now the food has gone downhill since it was popular. The food isn't all quite as it used to be and it kinda shows. We went here for Dim Sum recently, and it wasn't busy much at all. We went around like 1:30 and was not quite busy. There were plenty of empty tables, and we were able to be seated right away. We also got food food pretty quickly, because it wasn't that busy, so the carts were able to come quite frequently. They even offered us 2 for 1 Dim Sum specials, meaning we got 2 orders of baked goods for the price of 1, which is pretty nice. The only reason they did that was because the place was not busy at all and they had lots of Dim Sum left still at the hour we were dining. Now they wouldn't do the Dim Sum "classics" but they were only offering baked goods, desserts, and certain other dishes. Nothing from the typical Dim Sum "classics" such as Shui Mai, Ha Gow, Sticky Rice, etc. So overall, the food is just "okay", it's nothing really special, especially since there are many new other Chinese restaurants here in Fremont. Customer Service here is certainly a hit or miss, sometimes you get good service, sometimes you get okay service and well sometimes you get really bad service. Some of the Dim Sum ladies are not quite as nice as they could be but meh what can you do. It also really helps if you can speak Chinese, that way it is certainly easier to get the specific Dim Sum you want. If you don't speak Chinese, ordering may be a problem for you, but if you do, more power to you! Parking is fine because it's in plaza that's not busy at all, it's all furniture stores and one restaurant, this one lol. So, no problems with parking, plenty of parking spaces. Oh and Fu Lam Moon offers FREE Wi-Fi, which is one touch that is nice and was a surprise. They even have 2 flat screen TV's as well to watch TV while you eat. I really can't give this place higher than a 3.

My boyfriend's grandfather had his birthday held at this restaurant. Several tables were filled of his family and guests but it was a nice time. The restaurant does't really stand out to me compared to other family Chinese establishments but the food is pretty good. I don't know exactly what was ordered but I ate only what I could eat since I ate somewhere else before getting there. -house soup (simple and good) -duck in a steamed bun (yum!) -honey walnut shrimp (terrible for you no matter where you go but so good) -stir fried beef in a little wok (the little wok is so freakin' adorable and the meat is juicy) The duck was my favorite and we took the rest home to eat for later. Still good refried.

Located in the small Newark plaza right next to the freeway, it's definitely hidden. We arrived here after being thwarted from BJ Bistro (Line there was ridiculous). There were only a few carts going around with the same food (chicken feet, meatball, har gaw, siu mai, shark fin dumpling, etc). We decided on the meatball (a little gelatinous), siu mai (super ginormous and meaty), chiu chow dumpling (peanuty goodness), and egg puffs (fluffy sugary and not warm - sad). Overall it was mediocre. Prices were ok. $20 minimum for credit card use. I'd only go back if we're in the area and really need a dimsum fix.

What I ate: Assorted dim sum. Visit date: January 1, 2013 First time? Yes. Nothing like a dim sum brunch to welcome in the new year. This place gets crowded: We arrived 40 minutes after opening and were seated right away. Minutes later there was a large crowd waiting at the door. Plan accordingly, especially if you've got a larger (than 4) group. When we walked into the restaurant, I actually thought we walked into a seafood market. The tanks of ready to catch/kill/cook fish greet you at the door. I thought, "oh boy, if this is what the entrance looks like, what does the inside look like." To my surprise it was pleasantly clean. On to food. Nothing was super stellar, but nothing was too weird either. Actually, there were some items here that I've never had/seen before at other dim sum restaurants. The shrimp with fried wonton-like strips (definitely recommend!) and the shrimp on a sugar cane stick, for example. I enjoyed everything we ordered. Particularly, their steamed pork buns stood out. The steamed bready part had a hint of sweet. I could nibble on that all day. If dim sum scares you because you don't know what's in them half (or more) of the time, not to worry. The ladies who bring the carts around are really good at explaining what's inside. Be adventurous!!

Eat here at your own risk! I wish I could give zero stars. This place is so dirty and disgusting, I'm having a really hard time understanding the rave reviews. When they can't even be bothered to change out the dirty table linens in between guests.. I really have to question the cleanliness of the entire establishment. Everything is FILTHY. The floor, the walls, the table linens, the vests that the servers wear, the fish tanks up front, the tubes hanging out of the tanks. It's all just gross. I shudder to think of what the kitchen must look like, away from the eyes of their customers. My husband and I gave it an honest try but couldn't last longer than a few plates. Terrible service and sub-par food to go along with their repulsive sanitation standards. A quick search on the Alameda County Dept. of Environmental Health will bring up their most current health inspection results. Fu Lam Moon had 6 out of 11 HIGH RISK violations at their last posted inspection in October of 2013. These are the risks associated with causing food borne disease. Need I say more?! Just say no.

When I need a quick cheap dim sum fix, I come here. The food is average, the price is what keeps me coming back, but there is nothing extraordinary about this place but the price. Seafood Siu Mai. Do not order this. This might sound like a yummy twist to your ordinary Sui Mai, but do not fall for this. It's really really fishy and has a chlorine taste. After one bite I was scared I might get sick. I'll be back for another quickie soon.

  • Liena K.

We usually come for their Dim Sum. They have the best seafood shu mai in the bay area. The best! The rest of the dim sum dishes are average. Their steamed buns are slightly below average. They are not very crowded if you come before noon. Price is pretty cheap too

I came here with my family for dinner last night expecting fresh fish that was swimming in the tank right before it was prepared. Instead we got charged $90 for a fish that was probably frozen and thawed. It was definitely not fresh. We could've just gotten that at a supermarket for a lot cheaper! Never coming here again! I can't believe they lied to us and told us that we were getting fresh fish. We had this exact same fish multiple times at other restaurants and they always served us the freshest fish which is why we could taste the difference when this restaurant served us frozen fish. If you plan to eat fresh fish don't come here!

  • Chival N.

My 100th review on Yelp!!!!! My family and I used to eat at Fu Lam Moon every Sunday since their seafood is so fresh! We don't eat here as often anymore but when we do, the usuals we get are still as tasty as ever! How do you know the fish is fresh? Because they catch it right in front of you and cook it right away! You can even pick the fish out of the tank if you want to (I've done this on countless occasions and it's quite fun). The live shrimp (to be eaten with a slightly spicy jalapeno soy sauce) is delicious, as well as the assorted steamed fish (our favorite is the Asian style rock cod), clay pot pork, steamed kai-lan (or Chinese broccoli) with black bean sauce and peking duck. I'm getting hungry just thinking about the dishes! But my favorite part about Fu Lam Moon is the noisy and family-friendly atmosphere. Since it's run by a family itself, they really appreciate families coming out and having dinner parties here. They also host weddings on the occasional weekend so make sure to call ahead to see if the restaurant's booked for the weekend! What can I say, Fu Lam Moon is your friendly, neighborhood restaurant that knows how to cook and serve fresh seafood to hungry families. All the dishes are served family-style so it's not really a prime spot to go for a date, more like a place to take your grandparents for Sunday dinner. So live long, prosper and eat at Fu Lam Moon!

Going downhill every year I go, all the dim sum tasted very salty and like chlorine to me. I think this is typical of spoiling ingredients. The only things that prevents 1 star is that it was super cheap and I didn't get sick. it's very close to 1 star. I would not go here again but my crazy friend keeps dragging me.

I really wish I could give this place negative stars. Literally just walked out of this restaurant after eating dim sum and four of our plates were raw (spare ribs and seafood siu mai). They gave us comp food that we didn't even want or eat. Charged us for service PER person, which is totally unheard of. I will never come back and definitely will tell everyone I know to stay away from this place.

I called in last Thursday to make a reservation for 10 people on Saturday 2/3/2014 at 6:30PM. The lady who I talked to confirmed with me twice about my reservation. And guess what happened on the day of? They lost my reservation! When I told them I made a reservation on Thursday, the hostess said she can't find my name on the loose leaf paper she was holding. I had to show her my call history on my phone that I did indeed call to make a reservation. There were already a bunch of other parties waiting to be seated and it was just chaotic. Another lady came by (I'm assuming the manager) and was saying the loose leaf paper was a complete mess. Great, that's not something I wanted to hear. I spoke with her and she said she'll add me back on the 6:30PM reservation but on the bottom. Fine, we'll wait since it's pack everywhere else. There were about 4 other parties with 6:30PM reservations and they haven't even been seated yet. Oh and it only gets better when the manager's relatives came in with a later reservation got seated first! Are you kidding me?? What's the point of making reservations if you're just going to sit people down that you know. Some of the parties left because they saw what happened. After 1.5 hour wait and still haven't been seated, my boyfriend's father spoke with the manager and said how unacceptable it is for them to keep seating the their relatives or people they know and not seat the people who made reservation. With that, we finally got seated and ordered our food. My parents decided to add a plate of fried rice after we ordered. When they brought us the plate of fried rice....I was stunned. There's 10 people on this table and the fried rice came in a small plate that was the same size as the plate we're eating on. Are you kidding me? How are you going to serve 10 people with that portion? Not to mention service was terrible, we needed to refill our tea and they took the teapot away and never returned it. I had to ask for another pot of tea. Overall it was not the dinner we were expecting. My parents love coming here from time to time because they have a good seafood selection. But after this experience, we are definitely not going back.

It's a very authentic Hong Kong style Dim Sum restaurant, good taste with made to order dishes. Reasonable costs, not so great decoration. Good for family and friends get together.

Certainly not. I am VERY picky with dim sum, and let me tell you this: It is not my favorite dim sum restaurant to go to. Although pricing is cheap and portions were big, service was slow and the dim sum did not taste great at all. Their shu mai, and har gow tasted sooo weird! Its drenched in oil and did not taste fresh at all. Waiters were not attentive. This place was kinda dirty compared to other Chinese restaurants, and the food definitely did not look right! Eh certainly not my cup of tea.

Had a wonderful dinner with a bunch of friends this evening..... Steamed fish....lamb pot....veggies....beef on bone.....and fried squab... This place is known for squab .....another very good thing was their house soup... Wasn't that busy on a Monday evening....so we were able to kick back and relax...

I've come here a few times irregularly throughout the past 10 years and stopped by today to get some dim sum. I will admit that it's rather inexpensive dim sum but the quality of the food is extremely lackluster and the service isn't very good either. I ordered about 10 dishes and most of them seemed seemed like they have been circulating for too long. The Chinese Donuts (油條) I ordered were very soggy and not crispy at all. Most of the food was cold and the XLB (小籠包) was very dry. The cart pushers did not help my perception of the restaurant either. They weren't particularly attentive and I had to be somewhat aggressive to wave some of them down. Overall, I would say that the food is edible (although not particularly good) and I wouldn't mind coming here if I were extremely hungry, but there are definitely better places to get Dim Sum in the Fremont area. (e.g. Asian Pearl, BK's Bistro- This place doesn't have carts though)

The four stars is strictly for the food. I think here and Joy Luck Palace are the only two Chinese restaurants that have blown me away. Definitely go with a large group, especially those who like seafood, so you can do family style. Oh, and have the money to blow on geoduck and other seafood dishes. It will be worth it. I promise you! Also, more importantly, bring at least one person who has been here before and knows what to order. I recommend ordering just seafood and that one beef dish with the big ass bone (pictured). They cook their fish and meat perfectly. Despite the beef being well done, it was very tender, moist, and flavorful. Same thing with the fried fish heads (pictured). Lobster is average, but I would skip the noodles entirely. Nothing special. Service is a little better than average for a Chinese restaurant. They offer new plates for almost every entree, and we ordered more than ten dishes. However, you still have to flag down servers because they don't check on you, and remind them to refill waters.

We came here hoping that the quality of the food was better than the last time we ate there, but instead it was WORSE!! Never coming back again.

Been here a few times over the past 7 or 8 months. Probably come here on average of once every 2 months. Actually found this place by accident, the other dim sum place we wanted to go to was packed up the ass over by the Pacific Common's plaza. So we drove down the street off Stevenson. They dont have much carts going around, and if you dont see anything you want, a waiter will ask if there's anything you want to order off the menu and they'll make it, this includes dim sum dishes too. Honestly, even though i'm not asian sometimes its hard for me to tell what's good and what's not. But I've had some pretty bad dim sum at other places, so this place wasnt bad compared to most of the places I've gone. Reading some of the reviews about this place lately, it seems like they've gone from good to bad. I was here about a week ago and if you come after 1pm, you pretty much have to order dimsum off the menu because they close at 2pm and re-open at 5pm for dinner. Service was good, waiters were attentive, the pricing wasnt bad. 3 people for 40$ or so is pretty good and we were all pretty full after we ate. This place isnt bad, for me atleast. Much better than some of the places i've been in San Jose. Seems like it's a bit cheaper here than SJ places.

I read some bad reviews and that is too bad. We have eaten here often over the years and yes, it does have a few ups and downs but for an east bay restaurant, it is pretty good. Had 2 meals there very recently and both quite good. Dim Sum was nothing to rave abut but quite edible. Steamed sui mai, chicken feet and the3 standards fared well, and the price was reasonable. Had dinner there last nite of 2 way clam, steamed rock cod (very properly steamed but not cheap), honey walnut shrimp (right on and great walnuts and crispy shrimp), Chinese greens with oyster sauce, duck wings (interesting and good), scallops (good), and salt fish fried rice (not as :honest" as I have had in the past. The goey duck clam as a sashimi and soup was a real treat, had it before and is like an old friend. Yep, the service may sometimes be lacking but do not be afraid to tap the waiter on the shoulder and politely demand service (a la Chinois). Once you get past these nuisances it starts to work in your favor.

My family has been coming here for quite awhile, every since I was in high school. This place gets the job done: decent affordable dim sum, no wait on Sundays at 11am, and very close to home. Although I prefer another nicer and bigger dim sum restaurant just a few min away, this place is smaller and less packed which is why my dad likes coming here. The shu mai is always my favorite here, it was huge when we went yesterday! Very juicy and delicious. It took awhile for the shrimp in noodle roll (idk the name) to come out, that was the only disappointment of our visit. Despite that, we got way too many shu mai, har gaw, chicken feet, dan tat, etc. We also had an order of the ho fun noodles, decent noodles. I had better in Chinatown. The service could be better, but its a Chinese restaurant so I don't expect them to give quality service. They are pretty fast at getting whatever you ask for though.

Not the place it used to be when I first went almost 10 yrs ago. Was invited to join a group for some dim sum and decided to go. They really didn't have many options to choose from and didn't come around very often and when they did, it was the same options from the last time they passed by. Slow to refill waters as well and not the most friendly. The food I did have was OK but didn't really stand out... almost would have preferred chinese fast food.

1 price for all dim sum which is nice. The shrimp in the fun was not fresh, chicken feet tasted funny, beef tripe was good, turnip cake was ok. Would love to try oyster & bean curd, sumai, brontosaurus bone, Deep Fried Crab Balls, tanta, fried stuff tofu, next time.

Have not been here in a long time.thought we would try dim sum, mistake. This place have definitely gone downhill. We waited for food carts and no food ...asked for dim sum and was given a checklist to order. Food was not good ...like frozen day old dim sum, just reheated. I am sure they will be out of business in the near future. this used to be an excellent dim sum destination.....never again

One of my favorite dim sum places in the Bay...then again I guess I don't have much to compare them to. I've had some better places in San Mateo though. I haven't been back here in 3 years, but it's still pretty good, and just like I remembered. The Shu Mai is a "special order" because they make these huge seafood shu mai and they have like little scallops or shark fin on top, with shrimp and pork inside. It's one of the plumpest shu mai I've seen and I live for shu mai at dim sum haha. I do wish their turnip cakes were freshly made like the ones I get in LA, but oh well. I like their taro/meat crispy cakes..dunno what they're called in Chinese, and the usual dim sum goodies (ha gao, he fun, luo mi ji, etc.) And you can't go wrong with the Chinese broccoli dish. We like to order the special dishes like their tofu (crispy on the outside, and super silky soft on the inside) and topped with a delicious sauce and chili slices. Oh man, this is one of my favorites. And they have this rice dish (shen chao xiang chang fan) which is basically raw-cooked sausage rice to directly translate it. It's the most flavorful fried rice and it's a special order. They won't usually go walking around with it, but if you spot it, grab it. OR just order it with the host guy and he'll put in an order to the kitchen. I love their egg-tarts...theirs are flaky layers of crust and a really soft, melt-in-you-mouth egg custard center. And their pineapple-crusted top custard buns are SO GOOD. (No, it doesn't taste like "pineapple" on top...it just looks like a pineapple texture, which is why I think they name it that). Mango pudding is standard and I'll get this occasionally. But I also like the white spongy cake (ma lai gao) ...it has a tang to it and it's chewy goodness. Small dishes are $2.20 and the special orders are around $4.50 ish or so. We had pretty good service from the host guy this weekend and it hit the spot. =)

My favorite Chinese restaurant in the bay area! They have remodeled the restaurant about a year ago (or less); I like the new decoration; especially for their restrooms, a lot cleaner! The service is always great here! We get exellent smiles and they often come here to check on us to see what we need. They open late and the food is always prefectly made! They are famous for their seafood, always fresh and no need to worry getting a stomach ache. I come here about twice a month with friends or family.

I can't agree their foods are usually good. It just bothers me about the customer services at this places are going downhill. They care TIPS more than services. One time we paid $500 bill & $55 tips. While leaving we looked back & saw the waiter throw the towels hardly on our table while cleaning up. His face got mad since we need to pay $75 TIPS. He shouldn't act like that since we've been coming there for over 7 years and had most major parties done there also. The owner NEED to train his employees otherwise they won't be busy like before.

Our family love to eat at Fu Lum Moon with our friends. The seafood is always fresh and well prepared. They keep their fish and seafood alive in the tanks as you walk in. We love the elephant clam with pumpkin deep fried. The crab dishes are also excellent when they are in season. The live shrimp is also a good choice, served with spicy soy sauce). The restaurant is big enough to host birthday celebration. It is usually not busy during the week nights, but reservation is recommended if you have a larger party on weekends. The waiters are attentive and helpful. The restaurant has been around for a long time (always a good sign) so the decoration is a bit dated. It is a good place to try out good Chinese seafood if you are around the neighborhood.

I am always satisfied with their dimsum selection as well as their seafood choices. Their Chinese porridge is excellent and a variety of combination, my favorite is seafood and century egg. This place gets busy during the weekends so come early.

Came here right when they opened at 6pm for 15 people on a Sunday night. The place has lots of parking in a mostly furniture store plaza. Apparently this place has been around for a long time and Yao Ming has even visited before. Got seated and ordered a whole bunch of dishes since it was my grandpa's birthday. Service was good and always quick in response which is saying a lot for a Chinese restaurant (especially when they started getting busy too). Food was an A which surprised us but everyone ate a lot and enjoyed the food. There was a wait by the time we left around 8pm. On a Sunday night! That should give you an idea about what to expect from this place!

ughhhh... totally gone down hill in a bad way. I came here for lunch recently, and they only had a few of the steaming hot carts with the dim sum loaded onto it. Instead, the waiter guy brings you a paper and pencil. You mark down what items you want and give the waiter the slip. Your items come out one by one or a few at a time. I'm really NOT a fan of these type places simply because the quality dips way down when places do this. You could totally tell that the dim sum was made days ago and was steamed after we ordered it. The problem being, that good dim sum MUST be cooked right after making it. If you let it sit in the fridge, and cook it later, it pretty much sucks. This was apparent with the few dishes we ordered. The shrimp dumplings were mushy, and the delicate white dough skin just fell apart after you lifted it up off the bamboo steamer. The pork and shrimp dumplings had a off color and tough texture to them. Again, an overall terrible mushy texture to these as well. The most offensive offering was the fish/prawn stuffed green bell peppers. Instead of being crisp and green, the peppers were grey-ish green and surprise... MUSHY! Seeing how I'm paying the same amount of money for these glorified dim sum LEFTOVERS, this place is a HUGE ripoff. I'd stay away, and go to a busier dim sum place that cooks everything right after making them. You can try to fool the people with your shortcuts - and you might get away with it. Not so in this case - STAY AWAY from this dump. Lousy food that's FAR from freshly made. I'd give it ZERO stars if at all possible. I shall not be back any time soon.

Brought my dad here to celebrate his birthday. Ordered the roasted duck, eggplant, lobster fried noodle, walnut prawns, the spicy tofu, and the corn and egg soup. Besides the roast duck being good, all of the other dishes were so bland and the eggplant was practically raw. There were flies flying all over our dishes, and the bowls and plates were dirty ( it had some food left in two of the bowls). I was expecting something better for the price of the foods ( for instance the lobster fried noodle was $25) but it was disappointing. Really don't think that I'll be back after this.

Very sad. My family used to come here regularly but this last time was sad. The food was mediocre at best and not worth the money. I am sad to say we won't be going back again.

Don't go on a busy day. They serve food out of order, and cold. They brought a desert dish out prior to the entree. When it was sent back, they brought the same dish back, but cold and soggy after the meal was complete. Indifferent to way food should be prepared or presented. Will never come here again. To many quality Chinese establishments in the area that are worth my business and money.

This place is awesome. Everytime I come home to visit the bay, I come here to eat dinner. Not because I want to come here, but my family are pretty much their regulars and the restaurant know us really well. I used to come here often for lunch but now I come here for dinners. We always order live shrimp, live fish and a live crab. Today I ate the alaskan king crab. I was very pleased with the way they cooked everything. The king crab was cooked three ways. The first way was fried with peppers for the joints. The Second was steamed with a hefty amount of garlic on each leg piece. Easy to eat because they split the leg in half vertically. Don't forget to eat the noodles underneath that is soaked with crab juices. Last way is cooking the crab roe with noodles {"yee mein") This place is not overly salty like other chinese restaurants I've been to. We are always taken care of at this restaurant. I think they changed my dinner plate like.... 5 times throughout the entire meal. Seafood is amazing here, they have tanks of fish, crabs, and shrimp. I would highly recommend coming here with a large group. You can expect the portions to be gigantic.

I will never try eating here again, regardless of the other reviewers' recommendations. My first impression/gut feeling was to turn away when I saw the "Conditional Pass" from the city health inspector. But... against my conscious I followed the reviews and took a table. They don't have a lunch menu, so you have to pay full price for each item. So I reluctantly paid $11 for some chicken!! It tasted cheap and horrible and I couldn't eat it all. I paid my bill and went to the bathroom. On my way out, the main guy at the front had the NERVE to ask if I had meant to leave a tip (because he noticed I had not). I don't like to cause a ruckus in restaurants normally, but this was so uncalled for. I told him I had already OVERPAID for the awful meal, and there was no tip to give. The only tip I have is, DON'T EAT HERE!!!

I used to come here a lot for years. It was my go to Chinese restaurant. I stopped going a few years back. Me and my brothers were eating here and in the middle of our meal my brother starts freaking out. We all look at him and there is a freaking cockroach on his arm! We stopped eating, left the food in the table, paid and left. It still grosses me out to think of all the times I ate there FML! This really makes me sad since their food was really good.

Nice local place for dim sum. The prices are good too. The ideal time to go is around 12 to 12:30pm. That's when it's most crowded and the food is hot. We made the mistake of going early one time and the food was cold. They have a nice variety of dished and still push the carts around.

Dim Sum. I love it. So, I love trying any place that serves good dim sum. I have been here several times on Sunday mornings to eat dim sum. The place is usually pretty packed, but rarely have I needed to wait very long to be seated. The food is pretty good. The only gripe that I have is that sometimes you have to wait for the food that you want. This last time I came here, I really wanted shrimp balls and they told me that they were making some more. So, I had to sit there for about 15 minutes while the same carts came around waiting for shrimp balls. This is the only time that this has happened to me, so I don't know if that was just that day or if this happens frequently? Despite that all I think the food is good and would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for dim sum in Fremont.

hmmmm I was there yesterday evening for my cousin's wedding. The waiters wear a traditional blue and red Chinese shirt which I like. The food is pretty good. When our table was served walnut shrimp, we didn't get white rice :( we got fried rice in the end instead. mmmm that was really good! They just need to remove the cha siu pork pieces and the peas. YUCK! Thie bathroom needs a bit of cleaning though....so if you ever go for lunch there's a wal mart in the next shopping center woohoo! AND they serve one of those 4 meat dishes. You know the one with pig ear, beef, jaa, jellyfish in the middle with a side of baby octopus and seaweed? The ones people usually get at vietnamese wedding parties.

Beyong Disgusting!!! 0 Stars if I could give it! My boyfriend and I decided to come here since all the other Dim Sum places in Fremont were packed with waiting time of 45min or more. Should have guessed this place would be bad since they had no wait list and we were seated right away. We ordered shrimp dumplings and it had the most disgusting foul smell ever! We called the waiter over, had him smell it and he asked if we wanted to get another one. We said no and decided it was probably safer to stay away from the shrimp. We ate a few more dishes and decided we are over the dim sum mood. My boyfriend had to use the restroom before we left so while I waited for the check, he went off. As he was washing his hands, he saw a chef come out of the stall which he was doing a #2 and walked straight out the door. DIDN'T EVEN PRETEND TO WASH HIS HANDS. My boyfriend was so shocked that he followed him out to see if he was heading to the kitchen, and he did. Not trying to freak me out, he calmly said we should not come back here ever and said he will explain later. before I even had time to ask why, the check came, and sitting right on top of the check was a long, curly pubic hair. YUCK!!!! Oh, on top of that, we were charged for the shrimp dumpling that we didnt eat.

Been living in fremont for a few years now and I can't believe I just decided to try this place recently. Dam they have some good mongo beef and I can say I'm one mongo fan! Their salt and chicken fra rice? Myaan that was some good stuff. Still need to try their dim sum, heard they specialize on that. You can really see and taste the quality of their food. 12am closing time? Nuff said!

I stopped in for Dim Sum on Saturday 08-02-2008. This restaurant was highly recommended by a good friend, Jackie. He said it was the best Dim Sum in Fremont, and that it was reasonable in price. It was GREAT. Awesome selection, high turn-over of dishes meant that everything was fresh, and the taste was awesome. It's very reasonably priced. Not a whole lot of "vegetarian" options, but your meat-lover friend are going to enjoy it. I will return again and I will bring more people with me so I can try more dishes. It's not FANCY. I don't grade restaraunts on their "Apperance". I grade them on their food and their service. Both were solid at this great find.

I miss Furama restaurant (remember the good days?), but Fu Lam Moon gets the job done when you're craving some dim sum close by. If you're new to dim sum: basically a bunch of carts being pushed around with a selection of dishes on them. Each individual dish is just a few dollars at most and usually comes with 3 servings of the item. You have a little menu that the cart waiters mark (I think for Small, Big, or Special? not sure) which are each priced differently. You can get nice and full off less than $10 a person. I love the taro pastries here and the sesame balls covered in peanut powder. Sometimes I get a mango pudding to finish it all off. If you're a newbie, don't accidentally order my mother's fave and not know what you're eating (chicken feet) unless you're the adventurous type... It's a little greasy, true, but that's how dim sum is supposed to be. Wash it down with the tea, people - that's what it's for.

It's a decent quick and dirty dimsum place with affordable prices. It can be a little too obnoxiously loud and messy on the weekends... but better on the weekdays. I like their house special potstickers. It's one of their special dim sum dishes that are unique to this place.

  • Hobby-less R.

My friend raved about the dim sum at Fu Lam Moon, but I was greatly disappointed. THe dim sum actually tasted quite horrible compared to Mayflower. I have to say it's the worst dim sum I had in the BAy area. The tables are arranged too closely together so there's hardly any space to move around while you're eating. The place also looks dirty and definitely need some renovations. I didn't know the dim was so cheap though....when the bill came, I was like "wow, you pay what you get" That's why I gave it 2 stars...

  • Shari D.

Lots of Chinese people eating here. That should say SOMETHING right? I thought the dim sum was decent, but I didn't like the fact that my friend's plate was dirty BEFORE we started eating, and mine felt like it was a little bit greasy. Also, an ant crawled across my arm, and I'm not talking about "Ant," my husband. That being said, I didn't get sick.... woot! woot! (tm Kristina R) and the food was tasty and freshly made. The deep fried shrimp balls were yummy, the baby greens were tender and made just right, and the shu mai was delicious and rather large. They didn't have the largest selection of items, but then again, it's a small restaurant so that makes sense. It seems like the larger dim sum places are the ones that have a ton of different dishes available. The custard pineapple bun was really yummy, by the way! The service was friendly, even though not all the servers speak English. They're still really nice and they TRY. Also, we stuffed ourselves full, plus took food home for about $20. Bargain!! Cha-ching! $

I LOVE the Dim Sum at Fu Lam Moon and have been going since they opened under this name years ago. The service has always been slow and not so great since it appears alot of them dont speak english or just are not so talkative to us white folk. I dont know but I just love their rice rolls, shui mai, har gow, bbq pork buns and a few other shrimp dim sum dishses. Really good stuff depsite the service and iffy appearance as you walk in.

One of my favorite dim sum places in the Bay Area. Granted, I've only lived here a couple of years and have only been to a few places, but so far I like this one the best. The restaurant itself is a little hard to find, its kind of hidden away amongst some furniture shops and there's barely any english signage to clearly identify it.I found the food to be pretty good - it tastes rather "authentic" to me, but granted I'm not an expert on Chinese cuising so maybe I'm not the best judge of that. I can say that there are always a ton of actual Chinese people at this place, which I consider to be a positive sign. I typically order "standard" fare...shu mai, bao, various other dumplings, fried shrimp things, and the occasional rice cake. Everything I've had tastes fresh and flavorful. Portions are good, prices are very reasonable. One thing I've always been curious about is the fresh shellfish...when you walk in to the restaurant there are these tanks full of ginormous crabs and lobsters...one of these days I'll have to order up one of those.Good place to go for some quality dim sum. There's lots of parking, but try to get there early (10:30 - 11:15) because the wait can get pretty long.

Got sick eating dim sum here. Felt like barfing all night long. Then got sick with a high fever the next day. Then got stomach flu for several weeks. Good place to barf and get a stomach flu if you want it. Always complain to the health department if you get sick anywhere. I do. The place looks filthy looking on the outside. If you can see that dont go inside. The rest of the place must be too. The food tasted okay. But then hours later you'll get sick. Plus I can see all the fat laced in the dim sum. I'll never go back here again.

5 stars for dim sum 1 star for service Dim Sum is great, very fresh, good variety. The wait is bearable on the weekend. Be sure to come before 2pm, because by then, the kitchen stops making more food. You'll just see the same cart with the same dishes rolling out. Service on the other hand prevents me from going there very often. The waiter will ignore your request for water. Once I sat there for 30 min trying to get someones attention because i wanted ice water. Service is horrible. Its like you owe the waiter something. They dont even say anything to you. Most of the time, I ignore the service and just focus on the food. I'll bring my own water bottle.

What a shitty place. The staff is VERY rude. I came in one time late at night with a few friends and ordered bowls of noodle soup to eat. The manager then came to our table and told us to leave. He said we didnt order enough food and are wasting his time. I hate this this place. If you want to eat dim sum here you better be prepared for a wait. The lines are really long.

This is my dad's fav spot to eat seafood. I repeat seafood. The crab is a must. I wouldnt say its the best crab ever but for the price of the crab its one of the best in the bay. they also have huge lobsters. the one dish the rocked the night was the giant prawns. my family tore it up. you couldnt even see the roe anymore. the only other thing is that the service staff was okay, i will definitely come back for more seafood.

This used to be one of my favorite places for dim sum and real late night dinings. Over the months it seems that it has declined or perhaps I found better places (not sure yet) and I just haven't been back at all this year ... But it is ALWAYS PACKED on the weekends!!

I haven't been to too many dim sum places. I could probably count the places with my hands. It's a decent place for dim sum during lunch. I love the fish balls! I love the desserts especially the pineapple custard buns!!! I ordered some to go. It's close to work and I would definetly go back.

Best damn seafood joint around. yes, it can beat chinese restaurant in Oakland and SF. Love the lobsters, giant clam, and crabs... I don't know how they make money, but for the price u paid for... this is a great deal! I guess that's why there is a long line all the time... if u don't beat the crowd, just come back another day. the only down side is at times... the service is.... uhh... not that good! I had horrible experienceS in the past.. but after the new management change, I have not had any serious problems. Great food, great price, great dim sum, hit and miss services.

Well I guess all good things have to come to an end right? So it is true for this restaurant too. I used to really like coming here with my family for dim sum but over the past few visits it's gotten consistently worse. The food just doesn't taste the same anymore. My favorite seafood siu mai tastes rubbery now. My other favorite egg tart always runs out too. It's lost a lot of the sparkling qualities of what initially drew us back each time. Even the lobster noodles have become watery and don't swim in a nice broth anymore. The other dim sum dishes are edible but the flavor isn't anything amazing and something that can be replicated across many diff stores.Sigh and the service has gone downhill as well. The old ladies that handle the carts must be blind sometimes. One of them jabbed me with the cart twice in the back and refused to admit or apologize for what they did. I guess its time to find another local dim sum place to haunt instead.

I am bumping this place up a star a year and a half after my last review. Over the years I have become quite the Har Gow expert. I came here this past weekend and had 5 orders of their Har Gow. I think they have improved the quality of these because they were big, reasonable ($2.20 for 4 pieces), and delicious. There was none of that nasty pasty stuff you find in some Har Gow, just big tasty shrimp. The rice wrapping had a perfect consistency as well.

Went here on a whim to pay for a bolwing wager I lost. It was actually pretty good food. Five of ate for about $45. The service is a tad slow but I guess thats not much a problem when the food is good. I am eager to come back to try their lobster. At $14.99/lb, thats a steal. At other chinese restaurant expect to pay around $16 to $20 per lb. My overall take on this place is that its a gem for the money. Food quality is above average. Service is slow so be prepared to talk about your mundane 9 - 5 while you wait.

the dimsum sold it self to me. it gets a 4 star because some of the servers cant speak and understand english. welcome to America.

I don't know what other reviewers are talking about. The dim sum is decent quality, inexpensive, and even those that don't speak English bend over backward to explain the dishes to you (though it is not always the best job). Point at what looks good and enjoy!

I've gone here a few time with co-workers but never remembered the name of the place. But finally found it on yelp, and got to say it is pretty good for dim-sum. Now I wouldn't know authentic dim sum from non authentic, but the stuff I had was pretty tasty. We also came here for dinner one night and the seafood was absolutely fantastic. The only minus of the experience here is that the place is old, dirty, and small. But if you can get in there and sit down for some food, it's worth it. Pretty good for the Fremont/Newark area.

This is the first location that I've eaten dim sum in my adult life. It's pretty good. I usually just stuff myself completely full of shrimp dumplings and this one dish I only know as "Chinese Lasagna" (it's shrimp between layers of noodles and covered in a soy-based sauce). Both of those items are awesome and by the time I've eaten them I'm usually so full I don't try anything else.

For Dim SUM i'd give this place 2 stars- This place is your basic dim sum place. it's cheap, not great dim sum but edible. The service varies and it depends on whether your chinese is good and loud, if you're too nice they'll forget about what you ask for. BUT if you come here for dinner its actually affordable and less hectic- 3 stars. Ive been here once or twice with my family for dinner and the service seems much better and the food is actually ok. The dim sum time probably sucks because its so crowded so service and quality goes down.

Fu Lum Moon is a favorite of both my parents and I for dim sum. Since there is no other dim sum restaurants nearby, it gets packed on the weekends. Expect a 10 to 20 minute wait. Once you're inside and have sat down, be very aware of what delicacies you order. Regular siu mai is counted in the large category. Therefore, it costs $4.50. If you order several of them, it really adds up. Especially the shrimp rice rolls. In that case, it is much better to order either chow mein or chow fun as it costs only $3 to $4 dollars more and you get very large portion.

Excellent Hong Kong Style Chinese Cuisine with Reasonable Prices specializes in Live Sea Food & Dim Sum. fuLamMoon.com is their new web site with a lot of information including most of the menu. Fu Lam Moon is the best Hong Kong Style Chinese restaurant in the bay area at the price Fu Lam Moon charges for dim sum and live sea food. 8/30/2007 We just had dinner yesterday and they have a new batch of live Alaska King Crab. 5 of us eat a 5lb Alaska King Crab ($33 a lb)cook into 3 dishes (+$7). The lower legs are steam in garlic sause with rice thread. The upper leg is stir fry with ginger and green union. The shell is make with noodle. Even thought the crab is 5lb but the meat is even better then a small local crab, very soft like melt in your mouth. If you only have frozen king crab before you have miss one of the best sea food you can get. I like live sea food more than most other types of food. Fu Lam Moon has a good variety of live sea food at probably the lowest price you can get in the Bay Area. One reason is because they sell more live sea food by weight than most other big Chinese restaurants. They purchase their live sea food supply all over the world. Australian King Crab and Australian Lobsters are flown in from Australia directly from a wholesaler who is the biggest supplier of Australian live sea food in the world. Live shrimp are from different area in different season sometimes flown in from Canada. They currently purchase Maine lobsters, live shrimps. Glue Duck Clam in hundred pound units and often have to make multiple orders each week. They also try to stock many types of live fish and I especially like the small mouth Rod Cod. But beware of availability of any species of sea food is on a daily basis due to season and weather conditions. I like steam fish especially the small mouth Rock Cod which is 1 to 2 lb in weight. They usually sell for $22 to $28 per lb. Maine lobster when in season is about $14 per lb and I like it steam with garlic sauce. Glue Duck Clam when in season is about $14 per lb. I like sashimi the trunk and fry stir the head. My son likes to deep fry the head. If you have a big party and like sashimi you can try the Australian Lobster (not the Maine lobster). Another really great dish is the abalone which is posted on the wall. Currently it is selling for $20. It will cost you more than that if you try to buy them from a specify fish market. Maine Lobster is an interesting subject. For big parties and especially business functions they like to order a big one 12 to 20 lb. It is really good for show. Young kids love to hold them and take pictures. I prefer 2 to 3 lbs and steam with garlic sauce and rice thread as base. For local crab I prefer stir fry with ginger and green union. Recently they have a new way of cooking shell fish like crab. They use egg yolk to stir fry them. Very tasty but cholesterol count is also high. Sometimes they only have big fish and you can make soup out of the head and tail and stir fry or steam the body. Go look at their menu and you will find many ways of cooking the live sea foods. For dim sum go to their web site fuLamMoon.com and see all the pictures. Another secret is their special soup of the day. Currently it is $8 an order. They are cook for many hours. Weekday (1-4) it is double boiled with ginsing. My family love the soup. 9/24/2007 they have just added a batch of new tanks for even more storage of live sea food

I come here regularly for their dim sum. While their dim sum is nothing out of the ordinary, it is very consistent. The prices are also very cheap since they only have 2 categories for pricing. Small or Large. Small is about $2.25 a plate while large is $4.50. Their dim sum is average to slightly above average. They have all the regular type of dim sum without too many of the "specialities". The place does get pretty packed on weekends. Overall, you'll enjoy it, just don't have too high of expectations for this place. Bottom line- good dim sum for good price.

The restaurant is under new Management. Woohoo! And, they've re-done the restrooms!!! That was the main stickler of this establishment in the past. I'd try to stay for as short a time as possible in case I'd have to go to the bathroom, because I really didn't want to use their facilities. But, both sinks now work in the ladies' room, there's new floor tile, paint, toilets, and vanity. I'm so glad they've finally made this effort. The food is the same. It's still one of the best places in the southeast bay for dimsum. The prices are very reasonable, even though they charge for the tea, but I guess you've gotta give a little, take a little. They've disposed of their cushioned chairs and their hideous, dirty yellow seat coverings and replaced them with more modern-looking wooden chairs. The carpet is new and the entryway has been re-tiled. Whoops, the cushioned chairs have been placed in the entry area for waiting patrons. They've also added some faux foliage decor. The waitstaff is still friendly and responsive. Although one time we were having dim sum and two tables of raucous diners weren't addressed the whole time we were there. That was not so good. So, this place is still a fine place to dine. And now with improved restrooms, there isn't much to complain about.

i use to work for this place 10 years ago lol... im the guy with long fob blond hair lol. the owner has changed, price has gone up due to inflation on food, rent , and restaurant expenses. but still the quality of the food is great if you know what your ordering. if you like sea food, order the king lobster/crab and have it cooked 3 different ways... (not cheap).. but if your going just go grab some food.. try the sea food thing that looks like a big snail in the tank, have them cook it like sashimi..it taste great! the dim sum is good if you know what your ordering... but over all i still like this place a lot, if you guys see a big king crab shell on the wall... yea i ate part of that lol.....

Beware they overcharge you when you order takeout. I ordered take-out twice and they overcharged me on both orders. I orderd two meals from the takeout menu for $6.95 each and they charged me $20.6. I picked up the order without checking the price and paid. Later, I found out that they overcharge me $4.48. I called them back they said they charged them with the regular price but I only found those two items from the takeout menu. I ordered two another meals next day when they agreed to refund the money. Sadly, they overcharged my second order again. On menu, Pinapple Sea food fried rice is $8.50 and Hot and Sour Soup $8.95. Thr price should be $19 including tax and they charged me $20.06. I did not ask for the refund this time. One dollar is not much to us. However, I am really disappointed the way they do the business. Please make sure to ask for the FINAL price before you pick up the order. The food is not bad anyway.

this place is a curse and a blessing. every time i come here i ALWAYS leave full and satisfied on their uber delicious seafood and specialty entrees. but some dishes can also put a big dent in your wallet. Never been here for dim sum but always only for a great family style dinner. i would say that their specialty here is for super fresh seafood ie the alaskan king crab prepared three ways, head\tamales done in either a baked rice or spaghetti, the body meat stir fried with ginger onion and garlic, and legs are steamed in a delicious garlic sauce with vermicelli. but @ about $40 a lb with a 3-4 lb minimum it can be costly but SOO damn worth it to taste that buttery fresh crab. geoduck clam sliced sashimi style, steamed live rock cod, and fresh sea urchin roe aka uni. Next is the "Buddha jumps over the wall soup!!" individually served ceramic pot are filled with chinese delicacies like shark fin, dried scallops, abalone, and etc is not pocket friendly but is so freaking delicious. soup must be reserved ahead of time due to slow cooking process. lastly for you carnivores like me, they make this insane beef rib dish that looks like the size of a dinosaur bone that they bake then slice and is super tender.. also tried their more normal dishes like walnut prawns, salt n pepper fried ribs, and garlic big pea sprouts were all delicious too.. only downside is that service can be kind of slow when its busy and some servers are limited in english. but a must try place if your into perfectly prepared super fresh seafood in a casual enviroment! Become regulars here and beer/wine and beverages are FREE of charge! big plus that they're open till midnight every night

My in-laws love coming to this place because it's cheap Chinese food, but every time I step foot into this place, I get completely and utterly grossed out. Fu Lam Moon is by far THE nastiest, dirtiest restaurant I've ever stepped foot into. The purple table cloths are filthy. Seems like they don't wash the table cloths at all. I also routinely find bugs in the food here. Hairs in soup, bugs in sauce, you name it, I've found it. STAY AWAY!

I've been here for lunch countless times, and twice for dinner. The dim sum is topnotch, but admittedly, I am one to know exactly which dishes I like, and will eat only those each time. Even when someone picked something I do not normally eat - - it's been "good" at best, and oftentimes excellent. You can't beat the prices and taste of this food. There are some places that have perhaps slightly better tasting dim sum, a bigger selection or better service, but not at the cost that Fu Lam Moon offers. Parking is ample and location is easy to find. It's extremely busy during brunch and lunch hours - with tons of Chinese people eating here, which is always a good sign. While I don't work close enough to be a regular here as I was in years past, I still go once in awhile for lunch to get my kicks in. Really good food. Service has always been pretty good, but perhaps my having been a regular was the cause, I am not sure. During lunch, there is usually a decent wait before you are seated, in spite of it being a large restaurant. During dinner, you order individual dishes, and each item we ordered was really quite tasty using very fresh ingredients and served piping hot, always. If I had to choose, I'd opt for the dim sum because generally speaking, I've had better Chinese food at other places. Specifically, in Fremont, I'd head to "New Yong Kang" on Fremont Blvd, which is an establishment I alone probably paid for a year's worth of rent (which is noteworthy considering their prices are cheap). I practically lived there during lunches or would drop by to take out dinner whenever I felt like it as it used to be on my way home. But it ain't dim sum.... so for DimSum, I would always opt for Fu Lam Moon. I believe the dim sum lunch ends at 2 pm, so in other words, get there at 1 pm to start eating when it's still piping hot. I'm told dim sum in itself is a light brunch type cuisine for the Chinese people, ordering perhaps two things and some tea. Uh... not for me and my friends. We have a feast here.... and admittedly, some Chinese natives will stare at the amount of food we opt to take from the carts, but you haven't really lived until you take home some cold dim-sum, reheat when you are massively hungry and finish off the rest at home. You'd think I weigh 300 lbs with the amount I eat, huh? Hahhaha....

Have not tried regular dinner or lunch items. Dim Sum was very decent both on price and taste. Try the custard pastry, crispy shrimp balls, Chinese broccoli, tofu skin covered shrimp thing. They are very yummy! Very affordable for dim sum.

Oh, I was introduced to this restaurant by a coworker and Im glad I went. This place has the best dim sum. Only a $1.50 an item on weekdays...cant beat that! The dim sum always seems fresh and hot and is delicious. It is always crowded for lunch so go early. You will have lots of fun picking out all the interesting dumplings and buns and who knows what out of the carts. Just watch out for the chicken feet, if that's not what you want!

ok, i'll begin by saying that i'm a dim sum snob. i find very little reason to venture beyond koi palace. however, my recent move from sf to fremont and rising gas prices have compelled me to make some sacrifices. once i stepped into the door, the two alaskan king crabs in water tank, upside-down and motionless, were not a sign of good things to come. service was typical for a teahouse experience, but the dim sum was really not up to snuff. Here's the review bite-by-bite: har gow - slightly fishy, undescernible pieces of shrimp. siu mai - even more fishy than the har gow (ok, don't ask me how it tasted, because i wasn't willing to pray to porcelain god later) siu long bow - thankfully not fishy, but it's not supposed to contain any seafood. however, it is one of the worst i have eaten in the bay area beef crepes - actually not bad. probably the best dim sum item i had here, but really nothing home to write about. chow fun - actually, not bad again. not really dim sum, but i would rather eat this in a heartbeat. pineapple custard bun - undercooked gooey mess. waste of my caloric intake pork bun - you know what? I couldn't tell you. the benchmark of any dim sum place was nowhere to be found. guess i'll never know now. here are my summarized ratings: food - 2 stars service - 3 stars value - 3 stars (it was relatively inexpensive, but i don't think i'll eat again here anytime soon) for better dim sum in the south bay, go to saigon in santa clara. but, i'll probably need to go back to koi to wipe the memory of this place away. ciao...

I've been here several times for both Dim Sum and for dinner. The Dim sum is OK but I've had better on the peninsula. The prices were not so high to drive me away but the times I've gone there was because I did not feel like going further for Dim Sum. They do have tanks of live seafood in display as you enter but the prices per pound seem a little higher than I've seen elsewhere. Ginger green onion crab is different that I usually see. Usually the crab is par fried in corn starch and then stir fried in garlic, ginger, the roe and other stuff to make a really nice gravy. There is none of that here which on one hand gives you a pretty clean crab flavor but I miss the gravy myself. The fried rice is also not traditional in my opinion because they leave out the soy which adds flavor and color to the dish. The menu is certainly Cantonese but sometimes the food that comes out is not quite made the way I expect it would be from a Cantonese kitchen. I think these differences could indicate that the chef comes from a region outside of Canton but I can't say for sure. Overall the food is not bad and the service is OK but I would only go here if a friend specifically wanted to go here.

This is my go to chinese spot. I'm usually the only non chinese person in this place most of the time. The Dim Sum is cool. But what i really like here is their seafood. Fried and steam fish dishes are off the hook. I been coming to this place for years since they were in Mountain View. The cook/ former owner knows how to get down on some chinese food Hong Kong style.

The service is HORRIBLE! It takes them a really long time to serve you. They are rude and the food is not even that great. Everytime I go there, I go there with the idea that they will be better than the previous time. However, everytime I go there, I get angrier and angrier! I wanted to give them ZERO stars but Yelp won't let me.

i went there last night and have a full seafood dinner, had the giant claim for 2 styles of cooking, sashimi and deep fried, the sashimi was good, but the deep friend head was a bit dry. a 8 pounds alaska crab with 3 style cooking, each dish is excellent. the steam fish is the best. To be honest, this restaurant's seafood quality is way better than Koi Garden in dublin and its about half of the cost, not only the food quality, but the service is 5 times better as Koi think they are the "God Father" of seafood! The interior is not the best, but who cares? I am here for the food, not for the design of the interior. Server is really friendly and changed the plates like 5 times through out the whole dinner. Recommended to all yelppers who wants the real hong kong style seafood!!!

the was a dim sum fav for my family for years...until we moved to mission. since then it went downhill. i cant complain about the dim sum-its not bad-but dinner is not that great(especially dinner) actually my cousin (i dont remmeber this) told me that once when i was little i ate not-so-fresh fish here and was turned off seafood forever. also my aunt and uncle CONSISTENTLY complain that they get dead fish, and payed for fresh. this would be 2 stars but i really like the decor to this place

  • Khloe B.

i must declare that this is a horrible place for dim sum but a fantastic place for a seafood dinner. Their dim sum simply was not well made and their tea was bland (i prefer Mayflower). However, dinner here is yum-diddly-yum. We've ordered lobster, clams, oysters, those gigantic prawns, fish, crab--we've basically eaten everything that swims. very fresh and well made... nothing too flashy where it masks their sea-sweetness (this only makes sense to seafood fanatics like yours truly). The service was decent, but it's better at night for some reason. The decor is cheesy, but when my head is down chowing on lobster, who gives a hoot?

i use to come here all the time after a long night of drinkin with the boyfriend and it was goood..the best thing was the ice cold water!! but then we started eating at other dimsum spots and realized fu lam moon sucks!! we've been putting up with their bad service for nothing!! well mexican waiter is coo. anyways. we always order the sui mai and they always try to trick us in buying the expensive ass ones with the scallops on top. i got tricked once im not gettin tricked again! i rather stick to the original and get 2 sui mai for the price of one scallop sui mai. i came back again twice and still the food sucks. the sui mai was all rubbery and the chicken feets was all cold! i hope i dont end up back here to find myself dissatisfied again!

Ok first off I love DimSum, I've been to Fu Lam Moon now twice this week, friendly staff, they can't speak much english but so what we're eating at a chinese Dimsum restaurant. Both times that I've eaten there the food has been hot and fresh and very tasty. We ordered the seafood suimai, shrimp dumpling, shrimp rice roll, fried taro puff, beancurd roll, beef tripe in ginger sauce and chicken feet in black bean sauce, we also ordered to go a order of steam pork bun, baked pork bun, suimai and shrimp dumpling for my dad, everything we ordered was very tasty and really fresh. Prices were very reasonable for what you got, they kept our tea and water filled got us everything we asked for. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants authenic chinese dimsum with good service and good prices. The only thing that maybe they could improve is maybe a remodel. the place is a little out dated but other then that it's all good with me as long as the food is good everytime I go there.

Tried this place on 11/11/07 Sunday morning and must say, it was quite a delight. Good service, food was excellent, they give you a nice proportioned amount of food. This is definitely one of my favorite places to go for Dim Sum.

  • Name L.

Their dim sum prices are half of competition, although the portion is also halved. The only standout is the siu mai, although it is not that much better than the local competitions. Our family usually visits this place once every few years to gauge its worthiness, It is unlikely we will visit this place for another 2-3 years.

I come here to collect the dumpling skins so I can piece them together as the mat for my bounce house... that's just how rubbery they are. Some dishes were too salty, and some were too bland (the shrimp dumplings and the shiu mai, to be exact...) Also, their layered cake (not sure what it is called in English...) was dense and dry. Like a real sponge, not a sponge cake. The wait wasn't bad for Sunday lunch, but this place was definitely not worth the 15 minute wait we had to endure.

  • Jess L.

The food here is only ok, and the dish is kind of small, where the service is ok. I understand it's busy season but asking for another set chopsticks and they forgot about it 10sec later and the same goes with the togo box just kind bad.

  • Marissa C.

Came here one Saturday morning with 3 others because we needed to fix our dim sum craving. The place was semi busy and we had to wait about 5 minutes before we were seated. Service here is decent, like any other Chinese restaurant. Prices are fairly cheap compared to other dim sum places, hence the reason we chose to come here. Quality of the food is so so, I prefer another restaurant's over this place. They come around with carts and if you don't speak or understand Chinese like myself, then you better bring someone who does! Otherwise you'll pretty much be choosing the dishes based on how it looks or if you recognize it.

i went here for my nephews first birthday. we were the first in here at 7... the waiters were nice and attentive the food is alright. BUT they have the biggest lobsters i have ever seen in a restaurant!! the spotted shrimp was my favorite of that night.. saying that, its sad cause they just need to boil it and serve with soy sauce. for the price we paid to eat, id rather went elsewhere.. :( good try though :)

We had a party of 10 people for a Friday night dinner and got a table right away even though it was getting crowded. Service was ok. The food came out really fast one after another. My favorite dish was the Geoduck clam that was fried and another that was just cooked with vegetables and these big steamed prawns. There was also this noodle dish, veggies, fish, vegetable and meat soup, and red bean soup for dessert. We got the family package that came out to a total of $290 without tip. Be prepared to spend $$$ if you come with a group. Definitely a family type of restaurant.

Thought this was a sister restaurant to Fu Lam Mum in Mountain View, but it was more like an evil step-sister restaurant that could not compare. Dim sum was salty and cold. There also was a little pet? dog in the restaurant that belonged to one of the workers. Yes, it was kept in a far corner table away from the customers, but to bring a yappy little dog to the restaurant was a) annoying and b) unsanitary. I'm usually a fan of chicken feet (whatever..go ahead and judge me!) but they weren't very good here. Not a fan, sorry!

Pretty good Dim Sum, but the fish tanks in the front (as you enter), can be intimidating. Service was fine, for the day after Christmas and the Dim Sum is pretty good 9/10.

Only been here for dinner and it's never been on my dime. The 'adults' in the fam are always duking it out to pay the bill. Overall, the traditional dinner set is good & better than many of wedding banquets I have been to: *Cold plate, all the goodies, incl my personal fav, jellyfish *Mayo Shrimp w/walnuts, batter was still crunchy, not too much mayo *Duck Buns w/Hoisin Sauce, crispy goodness *Mushroom, Sea Cucumber & Bok Choy, very good, love my botttom feeders *Scallops & Squid w/Snap Peas, fresh & light *Lobster w/ginger, pretty good, not rubbery like it can be *Beef Ribs, I thought this was strange, good, a bit too marbled *Fresh Whole Fish, good, but could have been better *Wet Seafood Fried rice, good flavor, I like dry fried rice *Red Bean Soup, wrong!!! Watery and there was some citris peel!!! Yuck. Love the bright lavender napkins and the ladies in traditional pink jackets. Me and my cousins thought the 'artwork' at FLM was humorous: faux lobsters glued onto dated & faded paintings.

I've been here twice. I kind of have mixed feelings about this place. The first time was for mothers day so they were pretty busy. We came with a party of 12. Everything...EVERYTHING...was beyond salty! wow! I have never had so many salty dishes on my table! They gave us free soup, so ok.. Second time, I thought I'd give this place another shot. MUCH BETTER. Food was yummy and not at all salty like the last time. Not sure if I'd go back yet since they're inconsistent, but when the second visit was definitely delicious.

Food is good but really horrible, actually racist services. So, there was a wait line. I went up to get a number from the lady host, following me another customer, she gave my number to the other customer when I was there first. I really didn't trip, but when I started noticing them letting a few of their own kind (in groups) sit down prior to seating us who were waiting patiently in the lobby. It's obvious that they discriminate, and would rather cater to their own kind. I confronted the lady and she just rolled her eyes, irritated, and said I was next. I'm Asian too, but you must be their kind to get some service here, otherwise, you'll feel like a nobody. I sense they think they're better than the rest. I mean did they forget they're in America hellooo! We waited 30 minutes til we were finally seated. To add, the servers were just as rude. They barely came by our table with the carts. We literally had to flag them down. We enjoy eating dim sum and have eaten at many places so we know how it works but this particular one was a sad disappointment because the food was decent, which is why I even gave them two stars. Don't waste your time if service is important to you. We recommend Joy Luck in Cupertino!

Soooo.. came here for our Thanksgiving LUNCH. Yes, we decided to do it straight up ASIAN style(: As we pulled up, some other guy pulled up next to us in the parking lot. Looked like he was all in a hurry, so I was like WHAT-EV. Walk inside with a party of 4 and theres a family hanging out by the host desk, MAKING me think they were in line, talking to the hostess. Stood there patiently waiting my turn, and the guy who had pulled up next to me in the parking lot, just straight walked in front of me and in front of the family and got his ticket. So I was like, okay, one, RUDE, second, what the fuck? So I asked the family in front of me, "Excuse me. Are you in line?" Ignored. Louder. "ARE YOU IN LINE?!" And they did what a typical Asian does, starting waving their hands, "No! No! No!" Sheesh, uhhh, THANKS?! Got my number stub, said it was going to be a 5 minute wait. It was about 5-10minutes of wait time. Not bad. Place was kind of small. Ladies were walking around with trays held in their arms with the dim sum on the trays. That's how small this place is, can't barely fit a cart through all the tables smooshed together. The dim sum was ALRIGHT. Not all that great. And it took us about 30minutes to get an order of Chicken Feet. REALLY?! And every single chicken feet FELL apart cause it was OVERCOOKED. Uggh, never going to this place again. AND, I didn't even leave a tip. I'm not cheap, but tips are meant for deserving businesses who really work their ass to provide excellent customer service with quality products. Not some rude people trying to get some money out of you, or EXPECT it. One star for the short wait time. One star for the good size portions.

I really love the dim sum here. It is about ten dollar per person for the two times I ate there. I usually get the porridge which is a bit on the light side. The Shrimp ricesticks which I love. The BBQ pork buns are great for filling up your stomach. The shrimp dumpling is really good here. The wrapping is soft and the filling is nicely seasoned. The egg tart was warm and had a light egg taste. Really great pastry. A place to try if you want dim sum and in the area! :D

Sunday dim sum with my dad here was a pleasant experience. We were going to go to Asian Pearl off Auto Mall at first but the wait there was jus ridiculous. Plus the servers' attitude there already left a bad taste in my mouth from all the times I went there... So we came here. The wait was reasonable, consider the fact that we came during the busiest hour. It's a smaller space compared to Asian Pearl but the food was great and the servers were friendly. Which is quite surprising since most dim sum places have shitty service... I would much much MUCH rather come here than to Asian Pearl from now on!

Fu Lam Moon looks a lot smaller inside than i thought it would be. looks more like a regular eatery than a dim sum/seafood place. maybe they gave up half their space years ago. flatscreen: not on pricing: (s)2.20 (m) ? This is a good spot for dim sum. The decor is not very nice but they have a wide selection at affordable prices. Some of my favorites are the bbq pork puff pastry, taro dumpling, fry bread rice roll (chinese donut wrapped in rice noodle), liquid custard bun, and thousand layer cake It's fairly easy to get a table, even when you have a large group. My family and I usually go around 10:45/11 am with 8 people and get seated right away. You can also call ahead to make a reservation.

Read quite a few negative reviews on this list... am wondering why. I still think this is one of the best Chinese restaurants in the Bay Area Note: I have always gone there for dinner (never dim sum which people seem disappointed in). And always had live seafood... and always loved the food

I heart Fu Lam Moon! My family has been dining at Fu Lam Moon for years. Its had its ups and downs, but they seem to have gotten it together and are now consistently yummy. I wish they had a wider variety of dim sum items, but they cover the most popular dishes. I was here on Sunday, January 1, 2012 (around noon) and it was PACKED. My bad, I should have known better but we only had to wait about 20 minutes. They serve fresh food, are reasonably priced, fill up my tea and water with a quickness and are friendly. My family and I left happy and full and we even got hooked up with some jello dessert thingy. You should try the Hong Kong Style pan fried noodles (combination), it is SO EFFING GOOD!

If i'm looking for seafood this is my go to spot, yeah it's a bit far from oakland but if i need fresh seafood this is the place to go. I dont know why this place is only getting ok ratings maybe it's because your not GETTING WHAT THEY ARE GOOD AT. which is seafood. If thats what they are known for? go and get it. I haven't tried their dimsum but i would probably guess other places are better. But seafood like Steamed shrimp (24/lb) or Lobster (15/lb) and fish usually north of $20/lb are the things to get. I came here for Chinese New Years eve dinner ordered one pound of shrimp 7lb lobster and a fish, all in all we loved it and everyone was happy. Anyhoo Happy chinese new year to all and this is the spot for SEAFOOD

I like this place. I haven't been here in a while, but from my memories and experiences at this place, I was extremely satisfied. I really liked the quality of their dim sum, and I like their service. The atmosphere is somewhat grand and comfortable. Apparently, my family stopped taking me here because their prices are high and it's a rip off...but since the last time I was here...I was a kid and I didn't pay, I wouldn't know. But I've only had good memories here.

the food was ok at best. went there for the dim sum and it seemed sub par. har gaw was small and could have had better flavor. chicken feet were ok. the shrimp wrapped in the fun was also without taste. sigh. i was hoping it would have been better. overall i guess i would give them a second chance cuz i think everyone deserves a second chance...but not right away.

maybe we went on a not so busy day but not so many carts came out. Instead they had a paper menu and we were able to order from there. Kinda sucks because I'm use to seeing the actual dim sum plates verses ordering them on a paper. What fun is that?!!??!

  • Amy W.

My first impression of them came from the fish tanks at the front door. It's a common thing at many Chinese restaurants but the ones here were moldy looking and just plain scary. We came for dim sum but there didn't seem to be very many carts. There just wasn't enough variety to keep us excited and ordering food. Maybe it was an off day or we came at the wrong time but it will be hard for me to be convinced to walk past those scary fish tanks again.

We have been to this place a few times, mostly for Sunday Dim Sum. I like this place and in genera, it is pretty good. Constant good quality food as well. The only only reason that I didn't give it a 5 star is that their foods are a bit too salty to us. Good service as well.

Where to start....... Review seem pretty good... little do you know. Just wow..... Lets put it this way i had better service in a fast food joint. I don't know how this place is still open. Disgusting. 1 of the forks had couple piece of dry rice stuck between it. Table cloth is fill with stain (not just our table) Using left over tea to clean tables? really? Waiters uniform..... maybe haven't been clean since they first open. Service was mediocre. Came in, sat down and was given our tea with in a min. 5 min later i ask the waiter if they have the paper/menu (like shown in one of the picture) dude didn't apologize or anything. He then went over to the counter and grab one for us. As he drop it off he looked away, did not smile or gave any gesture. Finish looking thru our menu. Order about 5 item plus pan fried noodle. Took them about 25-30mins for our food. (not really complaining about our wait but most places takes less than 10mins.) Pan fried noodle comes. Guy was like "We have no clam sauce" I said "no clam sauce?" (i was puzzle on what he was talking about.) look at my girlfriend, she said the same thing. The waiter then threw a hissy fit in front of us like we offend him. We looked at each other and was like wow. Did we do something wrong? One of those lady carrying the same veggie around... ask us 3 times in the span of 10mins "EXCUSE ME! you like?" i don't know what to say.... i mean first time we said no. I give you the benefit of a doubt you forgot on the 2nd time. BUT 3 times? Food was nothing special. Will not come back.

This place makes average dim sum. It's not incredibly tasty, but not so bad that you can't eat it. Their steamed dumplings aren't great. The skin is too soft and the fillings are very mushy and grainy - unpleasant to eat. Their siu mai are very large and wet, but have some nice flavor. We also got their tofu, sesame balls, fried dumplings, tofu dessert, chicken feet, chinese broccoli, clams and lobster noodles. Their lobster noodles were a little bland and slimy, with not a lot of lobster meat, but the noodles had some good chewy texture. Everything else was pretty average. It wasn't too crowded here on a Sunday afternoon, so perhaps this is a good place to go if you want a quick dim sum fix.

This is perhaps my favorite Chinese restaurant: large portions; very varied menu; lots of different veggies in the dishes with veggies; 99% Chinese folk eating here, but I never felt odd eating here as an Anglo. The only reason I did NOT give them five stars is THE TELEVISION which hardly anyone watches! Get rid of the T.V.!

  • James C.

I came here on a Sunday and it's a decent dim-sum place. You do have to special order a few items, but they have most of the dimsum on a cart and have all my favorites. I know the seafood is fresh, because you see the tanks walking in. The waiters are attentive and fill up your tea quickly. The dim sum is better in LA, but for East Bay, you can't really complain. I'd definitely go back again.

With places like these, you got to go into it with low expectations. I mean it's in a crappy looking plaza with cheap rainbow colored flags and ripped up awings. You aren't supposed to expect much. I'm assuming Fu Lam Moon is leaving their curb appeal the way it is, so that they can "wow" you with their cuisine because the last time I went I was pleasantly surprised. Or maybe it was because I was famished from climbing Mission Peak and would eat just about anything. Meh. Nonetheless, Fu Lam Moon is a decent place to grab dim sum. A few of the dishes were lukewarm to cold. But the prices were totally affordable. $7 was all it took for a belly-stuffing, post-hike grubfest.

This place is horrible! I ordered a Chicken Chow Mein dish after work last night. I was tired and hungry after a long day at work. I was craving chunks of chicken heaped on top of my chow mein. When I got home and opened the container, it appeared as though there was no chicken in my dish. I got really upset because I didn't feel like driving all the way back to Fu Lam Moon. I called Fu Lam Moon as soon as possible to tell them that they had left out the chicken in my dish. After talking it over a bit, they agreed to cook me up another dish the following night since I was in no mood to drive there again to pick up the new dish. While eating my noodles, I did eventually see really really really thin small slices of chicken. There were very very few pieces, but they were there. I am not exaggerating. The pieces of chicken were so sparse that it appeared that they had left it out of my order. This is outrageous, for they charged me $10.35 for my dish. I really don't mind paying a little bit more if the dish is right; however, this was a complete rip off!!! Even though they agreed to make me another dish of Chicken Chow Mein, I will not be returning to this restaurant at all. First, they rip you off by charging you high prices with no ingredients in their dish. Second, the taste of the chow mein was very bland. Their only redeeming point is they did agree to cook me up another dish. That is why I gave them one star. I would give this restaurant a definite thumbs down.

This is my parent's favorite spot for a nice dinner and dim sum on Saturday mornings. They have a lot of nice entrees too...I'm fond of their lobster noodles. Nom nom nom nom nom.... Their dim sum is good...made fresh and authentic. They are decently priced too. If you stop by here during the weekend, they are usually packed and there's a wait. I love how they make their chicken feet and their Chinese chive and shrimp boxes here. I'm also quite fond of the har gow. Nom nom nom. It's been so long since I had dim sum. I want more :(

  • Sisca S.

This is my uncle's favorite dim sum place so anytime they want dim sum, this is the place they'll choose. Right when you walk in, you get greeted with the full tanks of lobsters, crab, fish, & shrimp. Some of them suckers are huge! I can only imagine how much one entree could potentially be when charged per pound. Anyways, the ladies that drive the cart everywhere are somewhat friendly. Of course, sometime they are a bit pushy, too, insisting that you "try it". Some are just regular. The staples of dim sum are made well here. If they don't have what you want on their carts, you can request it and the kitchen will make it for you. At times, they aren't that quick with your request though. The most recent experience was when my parents got back from vacation and we wanted to hang out with them. We wanted dim sum, but made sure we got there early. If you're a pro at dim sum dining, you know that you should always come early to get a good table, as well as get fresh food. We got seated right away and I was surprised that it wasn't full. Even after we ate, there was plenty of room left in the restaurant. I remember the first time we dined it, it was hella packed. Maybe people have discovered other places to dine and go there now? I don't know. We don't mind this place b/c it's near our home and conveniently located. The prices are reasonable and the food is good. Everytime we dine here, we always have to ask for water refills...it's definitely not top priority for them.

This restaurant is pretty average.. but their sea food is fresh and cooked pretty well which is why I'm giving it 4 stars. They've recently remodeled the restaurant and it looks a lot better! Cleaner. Lastly, they have good dim sum but you must go before noon or around noon. That's when there is a large variety of dim sum and its still really hot.

Returned here for lunch with the family and the food tasted better. Still not the best dim sum I've had, but it was definitely better than before. Prices once again were super cheap relative to other dim sum places.

This is not my first choice for dim sum but the family and I decided to try something different one morning. I've been here in the past and there was nothing really special about it. However, this recent visit has changed my mind. The dim sum was excellent! There was no wait and the service was attentive. We tend to ask for a lot of things (water, fork and spoon for the baby, highchair, extra napkins, mustard and hot sauce, etc). The wait staff was very attentive to our needs/wants. The food was really good! The siu mai was on point and the gai lan was cooked perfectly! I feel that they don't have as many specialty dim sum items as some of the other places but the food that they do have is very good. It was a pleasant surprise and we will definitely be back for more!

You say Dim Sum, and I am so there! It's in my blood. For a while, my parents and I used to come here for dim sum, but that was before they built a May Flower in Union City. But Fu Lum Moon is particularly cheaper than May Flower. But the friends and I came here after a hike up Mission Peak. We ordered the usual- Hai Gow, Hai Chung, Sui Mai. We also ordered Crab with Yee Mein. And then some desserts, which we really good. Each of us ended up paying $8 total including tip and what not. I'd say that's pretty good. Basically, don't come here expecting new stuff and exceptional service. It's good at the mediocre level. My college budget will be back.

Not sure what happened to this place. This was the first time I went to this restaurant for Dim Sum in a while and the experience wasn't very good. All of the Dim Sum has lost its taste. The most basic Dim Sum dish, Har Gow, was watery, tasteless and slimy. I don't recommend going here if you are craving Dim Sum. If you do go here, just order off of the menu, like the Fried Rice or Chow Mein. Those taste so much better than their Dim Sum. I can see why this place no longer has long lines out of the door on the weekends.

Sometimes their waiters are just.. Gah. I had to call the dude a few times before I got his attention. He was standing there and watching TV. I ordered the beef and mushroom. They skimped out on the beef and overloaded the dish with straw mushrooms and those old looking wrinkly ones. How very Chinese of them. How much are canned straw mushrooms? A few bucks? I also found a piece of hair in my beef, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't mine. I still haven't tried the dim sum here btw.

This is where I go to get dim sum all the time with my family. There's usually a line, so don't get there too late for lunch. The dim sum is yummy. Some of the waitresses don't speak english well, so keep that in mind, but they are very friendly and will usually try to help you get what you want if you are looking for something specific and it hasn't cmoe around in a cart yet. Cons: I've seen them keeping a dog behind the front counter on multiple visits here. Also one time I found a bit of metal in the food..

was not the best dim sum i have ever had however i am giving them 4 stars instead of three because they customer service was surprisingly good. I left full and the prices are not bad. However the portions are a little big for just two people. I would probably eat here again

This Hongkong style restaurant is the best chinese restaurant in Fremont, if you are looking for good food, you are at the right place! People are friendly, the big fish tank at the door give you lots of confidence for the cook! Love the dim sum and sea food! Love the location! Love the parking!

Sunday Dim Sum Review. Believe this was my first time coming here for dim sum... chances are it will be my last. With two Mayflowers available at my disposal, and at least two other dim sum places in Milpitas, this place would easily rank at the bottom of that list of 5. One Plus. Very little/no wait to get seated (Correlation to previous mentions? Perhaps) Food was average at best. (Nothing that I didn't enjoy eating, but nothing that had me craving seconds). Typical dim sum fare, slower service (less roving carts). Turnip cakes didn't show up at our table (after at least two requests) until we were pretty much done eating. I was hungry when I got home. If you don't want to wait for the other restaurants, and you just need a quick dim sum fix, sure... come on down. But personally, I'd rather wait until I go to Mayflower with the parents and "magically" get seated without getting a number.

Wow - it has been many "Moons" since I been here . . . "insert joke here" The food was not bad. The sweeten soy sauce for the steamed roll was lacking any flavor. The foong jow was tender, spare-ribs tasty, shrimp dumpling & siu mai was were good. Bummed that meatball wasn't to be seen until after they rang us up for the bill- my friend joked about that - low & below - the meatball came out when presented with the bill- curse you for jinxing us . . .

Came here for dim sum with some friends on a Sunday morning. The place was starting to fill up, but we got seats right away. Once seated, we were offered a few items, which was a plus, but no tea, something we had to ask for. The food were in kinda big portions, but didn't taste fantastic good, but was decent. The prices were ok also. Overall, the service was pretty food for a chinese restaurant, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come eat here.

Better food is found at Panda Express! We decided to try this place, and the first thing I thought was sort of strange, was the scenary when you enter this restaurant. A lot of water tanks with different kinds of sea food is placed right inside the restaurant, it makes it look sort of....weird. Anyways, I ordered the glaced walnut shrimps and roast duck. The shrimps was okay, nothing more. The duck was extremely greasy and we got mostly fat and bones, not too much meat. The taste was okay, but way too greasy for my taste. My fiancee had some fried rice dish, he was not satisfied either. The won ton soup is okay, but the won tons was falling apart and did not taste as good as I know won tons can taste. We do take out, so I can't say anything about service. It stays open until midnight which is great for us, but we wont be coming back. As mentioned above, if we want fast and greasy chinese food, we'll go to panda express.

A yelper suggested that I go to Asian Pearl or Fu Lam Moon for dim sum. I tried to do AP but it was packed and I was starving so I went to FLM instead and I was so glad. I got in at around 1 pm and was seated right away. The carts took a little while to get around but that's ok. The food was super yummy, I had a total of 10 dishes all 2.20 and two mango puddings to end the meal. The total came to be around 30 bucks. We had pork and shrimp dumplings, shrimp balls, baked and steamed pork buns and some sticky rice, oh yeah- we also had two mango puddings One thing I quickly noticed was that I was the only latin dude in the whole place, everyone was Chinese so I figure this place must be pretty authentic. Overall this place has great food at an awesome price, I would give it a 5 but the fly was really bugging me

Old School Dim Sum = carts & bossy ladies. I had to hold to hubby back when those ladies told us what to order for our kiddies...it was actually kind of funny! Most dim sum were very good. the egg tarts, fried sesame balls, har gar were exceptional (for our taste). only one complaint was the chicken feet. It wasn't as off the bone as we would like. The wait was long for Fremont...even for take out??!! But we would go back when we are in the area.

The decor and fish tanks might scare you, but the dim sum is Dang Good! Anytime we want Dim Sum, we always find ourselves at Fu Lam Moon. Because it is close by, but also because of the food. Every time we go, we are always full in the bellies and the price is reasonable. For Dim Sum the Shu Mui is awesome. Not only delicious, but HUGE, they have got to be the largest sized Shu Muis ever! Not only that, they have real good traditional Chinese dishes. Good Dim sum, Funky decor, but the owners have made improvements to make it nicer over the years. We love it and we will be back again and often.

My husband and I ate here 2 days ago. First time we had ever been. I should have known better than to go at the end of lunch, when liturally our food was out just as fast as our water. How long had it been sitting back there??? We didn't even make it home before we started to feel sick. All I can say is thank goodness we have 2 bathrooms because that's where we've spent the last 2 days! AVOID!!

Great restaurant for fresh seafood including crab, shrimp and whole fish. I have a friend and client who is a bit of an expert on Chinese restaurants who introduced me to Fu Lam Moon. What a pleasant surprise for this unassuming place near the freeway and a number of low end furniture stores. Highly recommended if you know what to order!

We're basically regulars here. The owners know us because we come here so often, so service is never a problem and they're always friendly. Mostly, we come here for dim sum because the small+medium+large plates are all the same price (a little over $2). There's decent variety and the food is consistent, so I like eating here. It gets pretty busy later on in the day (aka line out the door), so I'd really recommend going early if you want dim sum. That way, the food comes out fresh and they have time to serve you/don't forget about your existence and such. We came here at 10:30 this morning and it was great. :O Dinner here is pretty nice as well. I don't know if they still have the late-night half-off certain entrees special, but I loved that thing like no other. Good Chinese food past 10 p.m. for $3? Count me in. ;_; I miss the lemon chicken. I'm not sure if they have it anymore though, because my parents never bring up going there at night anymore. :[ boooo.

Type: Dim Sum Pros: Food is good Price is cheap Tea is great Seafood if that is your thing is live and fresh. Cons: Small place Service is a little slow, being Chinese I can flag down people but my friends being white, had a hard time asking for stuff. If you have several Chinese people (One mandarin, One Cantonese) your set in terms of service. Just gotta get a table on a busy weekend. Would I recommend this place? Yes, I've taken coworkers and friends here. I've come here with my family and they generally liked it. Would I say it's the best dim sum I've ever had? Not even close. If your just looking for a cheap dim sum fix, this is your place. If your looking for quality, I'd recommend Asian Pearl in Fremont (Not that far from this place at all).

Average dim sum. I ordered siu mai and rice flour shrimp roll. Sui mai was ok, I have had better, but the shrimp roll was bleh...too much rice flour and not enough shrimp. The rice flour roll was too mushy ick. However the service is outstanding! Very nice and let me sample other dim sum to see if I would like to order it. I'll be back

This is regarding TAKEOUT. We got the half Peking duck....it was soggy. Not too impressive. Also not too meaty. Ordered the seafood combination HK-style chow mein. Not too well fried. I could probably discount the Peking duck due to wait time (but I only live one exit down from them) so I don't think it is acceptable. Perhaps they do a better job if you eat there, as you can immediately see the tastiness (or not) of the food. In any case I would've given them 1 star, but added a star for the potentiatl that it was due to time lag in being takeout.

We were treated to dim sum here by a family who'd been here before many times, and it was delightful. All of the dishes were fresh, tasty and relatively large portion. Servers and management were prompt and courteous. I especially liked their baked char siu buns, which were perfect: glazed brown on the outside with a succulent sweet-meat filling. Deee-lish. I would definitely go back when I'm in the area.

I came here for a lunar new year's eve dinner many years ago according to my mom but I have no recollection of it. Fast forward to two weeks ago. I treated my family here for dinner in celebration of my mom's birthday and parents' 30th anniversary. My mom has been listening to Chinese radio which keeps mentioning how great their seafood is so that's what we went for. My dad is vegetarian so we ordered two veggie dishes for him. My mom, sister, and I then ordered: ~ steamed coral shrimp: they were very sweet and succulent but at $23 a pound, I expected more than 6 for the pound that we got =/ ~ geoduck: we ordered one that was around 2.5 lbs and had it cooked two ways (sauteed with celery, chives and mushrooms and salt and pepper). The sauteed dish brought out the natural sweetness of the geoduck but the salt and pepper one was also delicious ~ satay clam and vermicelli hot pot: very tasty...the vermicelli really soaked up the satay sauce. This dish was great with rice ~ pea sprouts with garlic: meh...I like my garlic minced and didn't care much for the whole roasted cloves that they put in it ~ "Fut Tieu Cheung": it's a soup that has all sorts of goodies in it such as abalone, shark fin, sea cucumber, antelope tendons, etc. This was our first time trying it so we didn't know that we were supposed to order them at least a day in advance but luckily (or not?), they were able to spare us two (they were buy one get one free). I guess at $28 (or $14 each), you can't really complain since it had an okay sized abalone and a very big piece of shark fin per pot. However, I wasn't that impressed with the soup. ~ red bean soup: on the house dessert...watery but I liked it that way since I don't like beans. Didn't dig the citrus peel that they put in it though. Food was okay but pretty forgettable, which is sad considering I dropped $180 that night =(

Sunday Morning Brunch and the family is craving Dim Sum. The Bay Bridge is closed and traffic is unbearable. The traffic alone eliminates the places I turn to for Dim Sum in Daly City, Millbrae, San Francisco and Oakland. I've lived in the general vicinity of this place for more than ten years and have NEVER heard of it and found out for good reason. Ok, being a generally optimistic person, let me start off with the good... -The price was reasonable for six people. -It was very close to home so traffic was minimal. -Plenty of parking. And the bad... -Everything else! -Mediocre Dim Sum. -Horrible service... almost insulting by being ignored. -Took forever to order something from the menu. -Drinks took forever. -Dirrrty For once... I am at a loss for words. UGGGH!

We used to split our dim sum visits between Fu Lam Moon and New Hong Kong Restaurant in Hayward. With New Hong Kong closing down, Fu Lam Moon has become our go-to dim sum place. The food quality here has always been excellent. Their traditional/popular dim sum dishes like har gow, shui mai, bok choy, etc. are as good as anyone else's. The service and the atmosphere is typical of a standard chinese restaurant. It does get very crowded for the dim sum on weekends and if you're not there before 12, be prepared to wait around 30 minutes.

A friend of mine really wanted to come here for dim sum and this used to be a dim sum staple to my family. It was kinda weird to go there on a Monday afternoon- pretty empty. The same carts came in circles til we were dizzy. Good thing is, if you want something specific -they will ask the kitchen to make it for you. I haven't been here in a while, but they seemed to have done a bit of sprucing up and remodeling- inside looks updated and cleaner. The baked pineapple buns were delicious- soft outside with a sweet flaky top. The flat rice noodles with bbq pork inside was more like flat rice noodles with bbq pork *bits* inside. The gai lan (special item) was made really well, not over cooked so it had a really nice crunch to it- was smothered in oyster sauce...yums! The rice porridge was pretty good, not too watery and plenty of pork and egg pieces. For two people it came out to about $21 - and we still boxed some stuff to go. The service was alright....I think for a Monday they seemed pretty bored and impatient when you take too long to decide. However I admire the dim sum ladies' ability to speak 3 languages. Credit card minimum $20- which is not usually difficult to reach.

"yum, yum, dim sum!" - that's what my 2 year old says when we go to this restaurant. That's what the whole family says, actually. Reasonable prices, great dim sum. Never disappointed (except, sometimes, at myself for eating so much). I've never had anything other than their dim sum, but the seafood swimming in the tanks looks pretty dang good, too. Want a real bargain? We showed up for dim sum at around 2 pm on a Sunday and didn't have to wait in line, and got great service. Because it was late in the day, the food wasn't super-fresh, but it was still good. And... at around 2:30 (dim sum ends at 3) they started to offer it to us at 2-for-1. Leftovers = I don't have to cook dinner! Hooray!

4 stars for service 2.5 for food 0 for sanitation I came here for dim sum really late, like right when they were about to close for lunch late. But the manager and the servers were still very nice and seated me and the bf. I was definitely very grateful for them and tipped them generously for that aspect. The food we got was ok. I didn't think it tasted that good; everything was kinda bland. That might be b/c I'm spoiled by dim sum around SF but I did like the deep fried beancurd shrimp wrap a lot. What really got to me was the sanitation. I saw a dog. And I saw the dog get its #1 business done by a table by the window. I don't know if it was a stray and somehow got in but it looked like a yorkie and I never see stray yorkies... Enough said, will never come back, ever.

Back in the day, when I was in high school, almost a decade ago (yikes) I'd come here with my parents almost religiously. Thankfully, what would become Mayflower would open in Union City. Yeah, it's cheap but the dim sum isn't that good. It's too oily and greasy and not very flavorful. Even though I have some kind of ennui with Mayflower, I'm glad not to eat here often any more.

I like to order fresh rock cod cook in 3 ways (soup, steam, and fried) from this place. I have them take the head to make soup; I love their fish head soup, it's the best soup that I've ever had in all chinese restaurants.

So I did it... I went back for dim sum upon recommendation from a friend to go back and give this place another shot. I came back at about the same time as my first encounter. However this time this was a much different scenario. The place was full and busy. The selection of dim sum items was vast and flowed continuously. Everything tasted great and service was prompt. I still find the fish tanks in the front lobby disturbing. In one of the tanks there was a huge fish floating upside down. There were bubbles forming in the tank which meant that the poor guy was starting to decompose and break down. Not a good sign for all the other fish that were in the tank. Other than that, the food and service itself was really good. I was shocked at how cheap our bill was. We were overly stuff and paid only $24+tip for two people.

one of the worst place i've been to and here is why.. came here with my family and relatives for dim sum. we got seated right away. ladies with their carts come around with dim sum and one for the lady was very rude. my nephew wanted to eat sticky rice and the lady that told us she will get it from the kitchen, took so long, we had to talk to the manager and told us that they weren't informed.. what the heck.. then my brother found a dead fly in his tea.. that was gross!!

Dim Sum. What can I say. You'd only go here for that one reason cause it's cheap as hell. Service? Not really. Today when I went there were a couple ants on the table dining with me. Not my cup of tea. Otherwise, the food is pretty decent. This place is good for going out with a group of friends, just for some casual dining. Taste is above average, but you can get the same in San Francisco Chinatown for half the price.

I've been going here since I was a kid, and it still reigns as my favorite go-to dim sum restaurant in the Tri-City area. They always have what I want: shui mai, deep fried shrimp balls and fried rice (not wet). Egg tarts and sesame seed balls for a sweet treat are always available, too! Cost is moderately cheap. Service can be slow, but I find that typical in most dim sum restaurants.

I've finally had a chance to sample their dim sum. While good, there are other places I would go instead of here. Why? -limited number of dishes -freshness could be improved -aggressive cart-pushers (no exxageration) I'll stick w/ their dinner menu next time.

I didn't get dim sum. I went with my favorite eating partner, mom and we ordered: - Lobster Mein (noodle) - Oyster with bean curd - da do miao (just write this down and they'll know what you're talking about) - Mango pudding The service was painfully slow. However, I was able to get a good look and almost salivated on HUGEEEEEEEEEE plates of seafood emerging from the kitchen. Each dish could feed at least 4 people. I bet those servers are rocking some seriously buff biceps. Anyway - the special dish, written in Chinese on the wall is the lobster noodles. Apparently, a 1 pound ish (WTF) lobster @ lunch is around 13.99, add 3.00 for noodles. For dinner, it was more expensive, but honestly, it's still pennies compared to Crustacean or any other foo foo place in SF. I seriously wonder what their margins are...maybe they are cultivating genetically enhanced seafood??!??! The oyster & bean curd had, I swear, more oyster than bean curd. At $9.95, I am beginning to seriously wonder where they get this stuff from. The da do miao can be described as a very green veggie with small leaves and tons of garlic. No, it's not THAT green garlicky veggie dish...it's special. Word on street (aka my mom) is that this can only be cooked in restaurants because you need to a huge ass pan to "flash" cook it. Da = big in chinese. My makes the regular version as home and it's the bomb. Anyway, get it, you'll thank me. But AVOID if you're on a date as this stuff gets in your teeth and the garlic will leave your breathe stanky. Actually, avoid in general if you're on a date. This is NOT a place with great ambiance. However, for your family reunion, there is nothing better. I had to lap around the block a few times in order to make room for the mango pudding. I have never had anything better. Do it. Our bill was less than $60 and that's with lobster & oysters, people. Makes me realize how overrated and overpriced R&G Lounge is. PS. Bring cash as they take cc for over $30 only. PPS. They are open til MIDNIGHT. For those of you who know Fremont, you understand why the caps. PPPS. Tell your kids that scaring the shit of the poor fishies (the ones on display and not for eating...I think) is not nice.

I ordered food to go, after waiting 30 minutes, I go back in to check to see if it's ready. The lady on the front told me some guy had picked up my order instead of his and that they had to make me new ones. So i go back to my car, wait 15 minutes and go back inside to see if it is almost ready. By this time, i was already somewhat irritated because I was already hungry. I asked the lady, "is my order almost ready?" She say's "almost." She goes and check the order that has been sitting there and said "oh, this is your order, i'm so sorry!" WHAT??? After waiting almost an hour, you can't tell if that was my order or not? I'm never going to this place again!!!!!

This place just recently received a complete makeover, and it is much appreciated. The old decor was rundown and dirty, making the whole dining experience rather unpleasurable, no matter how good the food may have been. Better lighting, new flooring, painted walls, and of course, new tables and chairs are a definite improvement over the almost Chinatown-like level of griminess in the days of old. I have only visited for lunch, so I can't speak for the dinner, but I would say that the food here is equivalent to an upper mid-range dim sum establishment, which is certainly good enough to satisfy the majority of the customers' tastes. Prices are fair, at $1.80 per plate. Larger items will run you $2.50, with everything else falling in between. The one popular non-dim sum dish that probably half of the patrons order is the lobster with noodles, which is very reasonably priced at $15. This is another one of those "written in Chinese on the wall" specialties, but since so many people have it on their table, all you have to do is point, and say, "I'll have one of those, please!" Obviously the management at Fu Lam Moon must have paid attention on the first day of Restauranteering 101 because they are very familiar with the first rule of the book --- hire enthusiastic, young girls. I know many of you are sick of going to dim sum joints, only to be served by old "see lai" with zero customer service skills. Well, no need to worry about that here, as the waitresses are bubbly, attentive, and oh-so-cute in their traditional Chinese cheung saam looking outfits. They are more than helpful, and will go out of their way to bring you requested items, even if they are not on the cart presently being pushed. The wait can be somewhat long on the weekends, but nothing unbearable. There is plenty of space to move around, especially with the large parking lot. Also, unlike most restaurants with fish tanks, instead of hiding them in the back where no one can see, Fu Lam Moon props them right up front, providing some great entertainment for young and old alike. If you are looking for classier (pricier) dim sum joints in the area, there are other choices such as Mayflower (2), ABC, and Royal Garden, but if your only requirement is good food, low prices, and a decent atmosphere, Fu Lam Moon is your spot.

Used to be a 4 star place, but had to drop one after the most recent visit...Things just didn't taste right, and the ingredients did not seem as high quality and pristine as before (evident in har-gao and the BBQ pork chong-fan). Obviously the management spent some $$$ in upgrading the decors and the plates, but hey you didn't have to fire the previous chef! Whoever is in charge of the kitchen has some serious quality control and taste test to do.

Went here with a large group. I don't eat a lot of dim sum, so I didn't know what to expect. I tried a bunch of different things - most memorable were the steamed bbq pork buns. It was okay, not spectacular, not horrible. I don't feel so well right now, but that might have more to do with the heavy, oily nature of the food combined with the fact that I have been eating very, very light lately since I'm getting over an illness. Can't comment on prices, since I didn't pay. Staff seemed friendly. Scary looking fish in the tanks to the left when you first walk in - fortunately the restaurant looked better once around the corner!

Had dinner here ... bad choice ... Service and food had problems. Service was S L O W. Waited like forever for the dishes to come out. And one dish came out wrong. The staff said that it was what we ordered. Clearly not. To make the situation worse, the staff said that he would take $2 off the dish. NOT THE POINT!!! We did not order the dish. If the staff would have offered to take it back and get us the other dish right away, maybe it wouldn't have been an issue. But to just take $2 off? Even if the staff would have given it to us for free, we would have to think about it. Talk about adding fuel to the fire!!! As for the food, we ordered the fish (THAT THE STAFF RECOMMENDED). BAD CHOICE. The kitchen prepared the fish in such a way that there were bone fragments all over the place. Not good eating. All in all, very memorable dining experience, for all the wrong reasons.

So you've got to realize that this isn't a restaurant for fine dining - it's a place to get legitimate dim sum at a good price. This place is typically packed on the weekends, prime dim sum-eating time. But, if you're there before 11:00 a.m. or so, you should be fine getting a table. Generally, I think this place makes pretty good "shrimp crepes" (I think that's what they call ha chern fun), sticky rice, steamed bean curd and fried taro cake. I am still on the fence with the shu mai - the mystery meat is just a little too meaty. But, otherwise, I think it's all pretty delish. Always great to order a few sides of noodles to round out the meal... It's actually even better to get take-out since you order exactly what you want...and you get it all at once. Of course you don't get to enjoy the ambiance of Fu Lam Moon...

I'd give Fu Lam Moon a 3, but really, compared to other dim sum places, the quality of food here is not the best. Although the food is filling and tasty, it is obviously roughly cooked and in large portions. Most of their dishes seem fresh and somewhat hot, but I wasn't blown away by their food and there wasn't anything that really stood out to me. My family and I ordered the sticky rice wrapped in leaves, several of the rice paper dishes, some of the buns with cream/bean paste, chicken feet, and some shrimp dishes, but I've has much better of the same dishes at other restaurants. Like most dim sum places, the food was greasy and I had to drink tea to wash out the coat of oil in my mouth. This place is crowded and poorly decorated. It's been open for a very long time though, so it's understandable.

I live in Cupertino and even though this place is 30 miles from my house, I always drive here for some good, cheap dim sum. You have to get here early though, because the tables fill up fast and there's always a line. Almost everything on the menu is delicious, and at $2.20 an item (regardless of size), you can definitely try everything without spending a ridiculous amount of money. It's very noisy here though, which makes for a poor conversing lunch spot for friends. However, the quality of the food earns four stars.

Went here for dim sum this morning. Arrived at about 11-1130am. No wait. Sat down and ordered some tea. There were no condiments on the table so had to flag down an employee for them. The dim sum came out so slow. We kept having to tell them we didn't understand Chinese and to just left the caps of the trays so that we could see what was inside. We kept asking for Har Gow and Sui Mai typical dim sum items but they kept telling us they were in a different cart. 45 mins in we were staring at each other waiting for the carts to come over. I had my grouchy hungry face on and my dad tried to flag down some people for some food. We practically had to get up off of our seats and go find the food ourselves. An hour in, my mom yelled so loud (she says she just talks loud and its not that she's actually yelling...its an Asian thing) "HAR GOW? SUI MAI? Where are those?" to all the other carts that came, that finally someone grabbed it out of that cart and handed it over to us. When we tried to pay for the bill, it was the quickest transaction ever. They pretty much were grabbing us by the pants and throwing us out. They were so quick to get the table turned over yet so freaking slow to bring out the food. 5 stars for ample parking. 4 stars for the wait staff. Very fast and attentive. 2 starts for the food. 1 star for the wait for the food.

Wow. Really good dim sum restaurant. Big plump piping hot dumplings, high quality fillings, lots of good flavor. Plus the manager came by our table 3-4 times to make sure we had everything we needed. It was great. Very fast and reasonably priced.

I really do not like seeing their display of live seafood when I enter. I do not know what it is but the tanks just seem very dirty, and when "dirty" thoughts enter my head, my enjoyment of eating diminishes. With that being said, I did not enjoy my meal. The dim-sum waitresses are very aggressive and don't seem to take no for an answer. It also took asking 3 different waiters and about 30 minutes of waiting to finally get a few glasses of water. Overall, just the customer service aspect alone, I would never come back. But, the dim-sum was nothing to rave about. Perhaps, it is the price that draws people back since we had lots of left overs and only spent about 65 dollars for 6 people.

I use to eat here all the time, since I have been overseas for a year I was craving so good chinese food so I decided to hit up all of my old spots. I had the seafood rice in a lotus leaf, and the beer stew with lettuce, the rice had no fragance nor flavor that the lotus leaf suppose to have. The beef stew meat was dry and totally not what the beef is suppose to be. This place was cheap but I can tell why and why at 8pm there was barely anyone there.

Went here for the first time to see if Yelpers were spot on regarding the dim sum. They were! All the small, medium and large dishes were the same price- $2.20. We had most of the typical steamed items and mini pork buns (baked) and their custard tarts. I noticed on the ticket that they charged a "seat charge". I assumed it was for tea. However, when the bill came, it was for tea or water. If I had known that, I would have drank tea. They removed it this time... perhaps this is how they can charge such reasonable prices for their dim sum. I normally don't drink tea with dim sum, because I refuse to pay for tea... think it should be free. Anyways, I think I found my new fav dim sum restaurant... even though it's about half hour away.

Probably the worst service ever especially how rude they were to my parents when we ordered. We've come here for dim sum before but we went for lunch here another time and the food we ordered was enough for 5 people. The waiter made a snarky remark that we're ordering a lot of food ("enough for a wedding"). My dad got super mad and we hurried to finish our meal, paid, and left. The food isn't that great and the place isn't clean. It's always super crowded and service should improve to accommodate for the fire hazard that they've allowed. Yes the prices are reasonable, but I would rather go to another place that has a more respectable service and quality in food.

Ive been to really expensive and big dim sum places where they have wedding parties, but this place is good! They may not be the clean but they are good! Prices are VERY good. Especially if you go during 11am or 12 for lunch, any later, you get old/cold stuff. Im not sure about the price but i think its like a $1-$2 or something.\ if you go early. They are usually packed during dinners/weekened.

We came here for my brother's b-day instead of our traditional King Crab. We have been here before...roughly 2 years ago. At that time, it was rather unappealing to dine at FLM. The floors were dirty, the furnishings were old and looked like it was ready to give, the walls were filthy and undecorated. Fast forward 2 years...I walk in and thought this could be a reception restaurant for someone's wedding. That is how much this place has transformed. They had some new furnishings and some of the old...possibly because they are still in transition. The walls are now nicely decorated, so it made my brother's b-day meal much more pleasant. We ordered about 9 dishes including the soup and fried rice. It was way too much for 5 people to handle, but it only cost us slightly more than $100. I would suggest FLM next time my friends and I have a dilemma about where to eat.

they've remodeled everything outside and inside. more spacious than before. the dim sum selection and price are still on point. we spent 35 dollars for 4 people this sunday. i took off one star bc service is so-so. if you dont speak chinese expect to feel a bit awkward when requesting additional sodas, napkins, forks etc. they're not mean but they don't smile either. lol.

Okay, I come here for the dim sum and today the Gai Lan (Chinese broccolli) was COLD! We were there at a decent time, 11:30am. Food should be HOT, right. I do like their shui mai, they're big and filling. Their friend shimp balls are yummy, especially when it's fresh out the kitchen. The potstickers are tasty, lots of onions with yummy soy sauce mix to dip. The duck feet is good but a bit overcooked. Also, the sticky fried rice that's served in a lil claypot is the BEST! it's very tasty with pieces of Chinese sausage, green onions, onions, bbq pork. The stir fry noodles are tasty too. For dessert, the mango pudding with the cream on top and sweet rice cake are my Favs. Overall, I do like their dimsum! Just need to fix the freshness of their entrees and hot dishes!! Oh and a bit pricy.

We made reservation for lunch this past Sunday for 7 adults and 3 young children. We were very appreciative for the fact that they even took reservation in the first place and let us sit down before everyone arrived (on 2nd floor) in a jam packed restaurant. This benefit alone will bring me back. We had a lot of the the usual dim sum stuff, most of the food was good or OK. Since we were late (12:45pm) and on the 2nd floor, several items ran out which was a bit of a bummer. They did have carts on the 2nd floor which helped. Overall, we were satisfied and likely come back again.

Great place for dim sum. I'd suggest getting there right at 10. This place gets packed. Service was quick, they bring you a pot of hot tea when you sit down. I tried to order fried rice but they didn't offer menu items until 11:00 am. It was 10:40 at the time hmmmm..... overall food was good & fresh, the ladies came around with their carts quite frequently, for a party of three we had seafood siomai, shark fin dumplings, spareribs, pork porridge (we spilt this three ways), shrimp chow fun & taro pork, all for $19.95 witch was a surprise. Good place to have dim sum on a Sunday morning...

Horrible. Do not go to this place. The food is below mediocre bordering on gross and sure the prices arent bad but you get what you pay for. There are always extremely long lines with a beligerant crowd trying to get seated first. And to top things off the service is the worst. I have never been to a place where you consistently get horrible service. But time after time this place continues to amaze me. Only reason I came here more then once is friends family insisted we come. For example: My gf (Chinese who doesnt speak) and I (white guy) are eating our food. Table next to us tells the waiter can we got some hot sauce like them ( points to us). Waiter looks at us grabs our hot sauce gives it to them and walks away. In their heads problem solved. Guess they only value certain customers. After that we tell them to bring us our check and we pay, they say we cant pay with card because its under 20 dollars and say we must pay cash. They end up taking our card but their lucky they even got that. And their food sucks. Go to Mayflower in Union City instead.

i used to come here back in the day where pacific commons did not exist yet. back in the day when there were only a handful of good chinese restaurant in the tri-city. i remember the food was a bit over average and the dim sum was good & inexpensive. now that i haven't back or a long time, i can't really say how the restaurant is doing nowadays.

I came here today to have dim sum with the parentals and I think we were all universally unimpressed with the overall experience. The quality of the dim sum was mostly mediocre at best. Some of the dishes weren't even very hot when they came out which is never a good sign. My favorite dish which I use to compare all dim sum places is the phoenix claws. The ones were sadly very disappointing. The flavor was okay, but it didn't really penetrate the chicken feet. The other ding on the dish was that the claws seemed a little underdone, because the skin/meat wasn't falling off the bone like it should be. Instead I had to fight the bones for the meager scraps of flesh that were available. Not good. Also, it seemed like there wasn't as much variety here as compared to most of the other places that I've been. The other slightly disappointing thing was that the servers didn't announce what they were bringing. They just kind of walked by with the carts and you had to just shout out something and hope it was there. There were quite a few dessert dishes, which was nice, but I didn't get to try many of them. The prices here are reasonable, and most of the dishes are considered small dishes even though there's a decent amount of food so it's decent value. Unfortunately with so many tastier alternatives, I don't see myself coming back here in the near future.

I don't know why I haven't reviewed this place but I've been going here for quite a while. I usually end up here between brunch/lunch for dimsum. They have a great selection and even carry stuff that are more traditional like tripe and chicken feet (although, I'm not a big fan of it). I do prefer their pork siumai (sp?) over other dimsum places i've tried in the area. As with other reviewers, I also like the fried shrimp ball. The tofu is hit or miss sometimes but I like the fact that you can also order outside of the regular dimsum items. Try the pan fried seafood noodles and you'll see why I gave this place four stars. For dinner, I've had some of their lobster specialties (I'm sorry I forgot what they called it but it had scallops, prawn, mushrooms, water chestnuts, some veggies and topped with a light clear sauce) and I have to say it was worth the price. If you order stuff off the menu, it can get pricey but the chef also gets creative. Try the steamed fish or the crab for starters. I would give this place a 5 out of 5 if the decor... but really, you can ignore that part.

Compare to neighboring Dim Sum places Fu Lam Moon simply out performs the others. First of all the Staff is friendly and that is the vibe there. The food is fresh and not as oily as other places. This is a very cozy and comfortable DimSum. I have noticed almost all Dim Sum Restaurants manage customers like a herd and you feel like your in a mass production system but at Fu Lam Moon the People are really nice and not to busy smile. THUMBS UP FU LAM MOON!!!! I like it here :)

This place has changed hands a few times over the years and the quality of service and variety of dim-sum in turn improves as well. Do you know what "dim-sum" means? It literally means "choose the one your heart desires". And we drink quality tea with those lovely small tapas-like dishes. It's a shame people don't know anything about tea these days and they order water, soft drinks etc. instead of a pot of freshly brewed tea with quality tea leaves. It is a Chinese tradition, a custom to have tea and dim-sum goes together. We actually say let's go for tea in our language instead of dim-sum. Tea drinking is an art. And tea helps with digestion with the heavy, rich and possibly greasy dim-sum you ordered. Ask your grandparents about what kind of tea they'd want to have with their lunch. I bet they won't tell you they'd like any cheap jasmine tea you can get from the supermarket aisle. Dim-sum at this place is tolerable but dinner is not as nice except you order steamed seafood that doesn't really required much cooking effort.

Me (mostly myself), my sister and on a rare occasion, our mother would come here once in a while for Dim Sum. When you get here, don't expect to be seated right away, especially weekends when they serve dim sum. That's how busy they are. Whenever we come for dim sum, the service is prompt and the carts are readily available to what items we want. The items are delicious! Great selection of dim sum (no sticky rice [not the one that comes in a taro leaf], the one that's served on a glass bowl and taken out of). The best dessert is the mango pudding with the condense milk poured on top of it! =D

My grandmother frequents this place and took my boyfriend and I to lunch here last time we were in town for a visit. It was pretty crowded when we got there the service was mediocre and the food wasn't too atrocious. The thing I hated most though was the decor. My good god. Find a good interior designer please! By far, I definitely prefer the dim sum place I used to go to when I was growing up but I think it closed. Anyway, if you're looking for cheap basic tasting dim sum give this place a shot.

This would be a 3 star if not for the value proposition of this restaurant. Interior is your standard 2-3 star Chinese restaurant, but the food was well prepared. Supposedly the chef worked at Dynasty Seafood a higher-end Chinese restaurant in the South Bay. I was treated by my host to a 7 lb. live lobster. We had 1/2 sashimi style and the other half served stir-fried with salt and pepper. No over-battering nor over-seasoning...I was in lobster heaven...literally could not remember when I had such an enjoyable lobster experience. The two of us stuffed ourselves as much as we could. The other dim sum was better than average and consistent. If you want to eat lobster and do not want to make monthly payments...I suggest Fu Lam Moon.

For $23 serving two with leftovers... ya' can't complain. The food was decent. The ambiance looked tattered. For a new restaurant, they could have painted it up a little nicer. It's in the place of a previous Chinese restaurant, the New Taipai that I liked. They had a concert pianist on some nights that was quite talented. (I suspect it was the owners daughter, but she was good.) Now there are fresh fish tanks in the doorway which I love except the tanks look like they are dirty. Some of the Dim Sum was a little cold, but the recipes were okay and very traditional. I will go again... probably many times. We went on a Wednesday at lunch and there were no lines.

I used to come here long ago when I was very young and inexperience. But now, I will never come back here again because of varies of issues. The food used to be ok when it first open but as time goes by the quality and quanity sink lower and lower, the service was horrible, high level of MSG, and scam. The Scam: My friends and I came here and order "Live steamed shrimps". Usually the server would scoop from the tanks they have out front, but this time he didn't. When the plate came out, the shrimps were soft and smelly as if it either previously frozen or been dead for quite sometime. We ask the server if he can change it for us, and told him that we didn't see him scoop anything out of the tanks. The guy all sudden can't speak English now. We left the dish, paid and wave goodbye to Fu Lam Moon.

Good dim sum, but way too crowded. Long waits, and we saw the waiter giving "special treatments" to people and allowed them to cut in line. The food is cheap - but for a better dim sum experience, we prefer Mayflower in Union City (more spacious sitting, cleaner, faster, better variety of food (just a little more expensive).

This place really isn't all bad. I just don't like it. Their dim sum is extremely limited and we used to go here because it was 1.50 a place or something like that. They tend to be stingy with the plates that normally go for higher prices during dim sum such as the ha cheung or whatever with shrimp in it. For example, they'd only have four or five of them and it goes quick. We went here before because it was one of the few places in this area of Fremont that serves dim sum. They're also quite shady with their advertising. Once we came because they were offering 1/2 off after a certain time and we got back from somewhere at about midnight and stopped by. When we ordered we found out that you can only get that if you have dimsum in the morning and if you order a certain amount you get some voucher for it but of course that's not explained; they might have it in tiny, unreadable handwriting in Chinese somewhere that I didn't see. That's Chinese marketing for ya! haha Anyways, I just don't like the place because of a combination of experiences, the food isn't so great, the decorations are tacky/scary. They have these fake giant crabs and lobsters hanging on the wall that I just find weird. Anyone else think so? I give it two stars because it's not the worst I've been to.

Food is avg to below avg. The food is not fresh but there are quite a few selection. The food is prepared and have people in carts strolling down the isles. Definitely not the best dim sum but the lines aren't too long for avg dim sum.

Went there today for the first time... DInner Ordered a 8.5lbs Lobster with E-Noodle, half a chicken and some seafood delight and of course, bowls of rice! Price was insane...but worth it cause the lobster was AMAZING. Never had so much lobster meat in one meal before! However, the chicken was bland and the seafood seems a bit undercooked because it was really hard to chew... Service was friendly and great, kept changing plates for us without asking. EDIT: Went there the day after cause my uncle wanted to try it. Ordered hella things and the price was almost equivalent to the Lobster Combo hahaha. We ordered the Fish Combo with Roast Duck, Fried Squab and Century Egg Spinach. We also got a 10 lb rack roasted beef ribs as a gift XD Service was great again!

We celebrated my Aunt's bday here last month and have had multiple family dinners here over the years. The food has always been consistently good. We've had practically everything on the menu and I can honestly say I've never had a bad dish. I'd recommend ordering one of their banquet menus to get the full range of items available. Service is always quick and friendly. The interior is clean as are their bathrooms.

my wedding banquet dinner was here like 6 yrs ago. Pretty good then. Dim sum sucked the last few times I went. Update 2/19/07: dim sum is a bit better, mom said they have new owners but I don't really know. We had chicken feet-not very good. Brown and not very tender. I like the red colored kind and lots of black beans which they didn't have. Shrimp rice crepe-really yummy. BBQ Pork rice crepe-good. char siu sou-baked flaky rectangle thing w/ bbq pork in it was yummy. pan-fried chive dumplings-yummy. steamed sweet custard bun-pretty good. Taro cake just ok. Mom paid so don't know the final bill. I'd go back again but not in a hurry-have food coma. Bathrooms-separate men and women. Women only 2 stalls & 2 sinks, when we went 2/19/07 1 of the stalls didn't have toilet paper. evil.

I love dim sum. This place has good dim sum and its cheap. Mayflower has good dim sum. But I am not willing to spend $40+ on dim sum when I can go to Everett & Jones (the best rib in town) for the same price. The place can be crowded at times. I never go on weekends, only on weekdays. Plenty of parking and right off the 880 freeway. Last but not least, the restroom. I never been but I can tell its dirty like the kitchen. Oh the irony!

WATCH YOUR DIM SUM BILL! They pad your lunch bill with a "mandatory" (hidden) charge for every single person in your table for tea @ $0.95 per person. No tea drinkers on our table; yet we were charged which they didn't even itemize on the bill but padded on the total. SCAM!. I questioned the bill since the numbers didn't seem to add up. There was no item on the bill labeled tea but it was conveniently incorporated on the total. I inquired and the manager tells me $0.95 per person for tea is automatically added to the bill, including small children. IS THIS LEGAL? There were no signs posted. Do the math. If there were 10 people on your table including kids, that's an extra $9.50 for tea that's worth $0.10. Seems like a good case for a class-action if this is their business practice. I hope a good consumer lawyer gets to read this. Next time any of you have dim sum at Fu Lam Moon, check your bill. How many of us ever do? Ask if you were charged for tea....WOW, did you know that top of this, you pay sales tax on that hidden tea charge of $0.95 per person. Yet if you're comfortable eating in this DIRTY restaurant, leave a 15% tip for the workers. Bad management practice is separate from the service you get from their workers.

My mom doesn't really like this place because she thinks it is cheap and it is not crowded (she thinks the more crowded the restaurant is, the better it is -.-;;;) Me, I like this restaurant for the very fact that is cheap, it is close to me and if you come at the right time (ie, 11am ish), you will get fresh and high quality dim sum. Each plate is $2.2 last time I went, doesn't matter if it is big dim or small dim. However, if you come later (it seems many other reviewers also have noticed this), the dim sum here got worse, and the service also got worse. (ie, they would start to ignore ur calling) I don't recommend this restaurant other than for the early dim sum. Its dinner menu are too expensive and they are not that great.

Cheap dim sum? Check. Basics covered? Check. Lots of options? No. Service? Mixed. Long lines? Check. -- We came here for Mother's Day. Wait was at least 45 minutes. And yet no one batted an eye. For the six of us, it was a $40-something total and we left with full bellies. Although it's not out of this world, the cheapness and decent quality of the dim sum keeps us coming back. After all, we don't come here every day, nor do we eat copious quantities of any one item. That said, more selective, delicate palates may want to eat elsewhere. p.s. Goooooo Warriors!!!

i always go here to dim sum. at about 2:30pm they offer buy one get one free on their specialty dim sum. hehe. i prefer this place over May Flower because i dont have to wait in line. my fav dish is the "lau sah bao" but u have to order this as it does not come out in the carts. they also have pork blood with chives.

Despite being in an industrial looking area and walking into a tiny cramped lobby filled with dirty looking tanks of swimming seafood, I was pleasantly surprised to actually enjoy my food. We had a wedding rehearsal dinner here done in standard Chinese banquet style. The most memorable dishes were the sweet and sour beef (so tender and the sauce was authentic sweet and sour, none of that disgusting red crap) and Buddah's delight which was well flavored. The walnut shrimp was pretty good too. I thought the best was the crab though. Great flavor and you are grateful suddenly for those dirty tanks by the front door. The waiters worked really hard at changing out our plates and giving glasses for the bottle of cognac we brought in. Walking out, we saw everyone had huge platters of giant prawn and almost every table was filled. Judging by the great meal we had, this was definitely a hidden gem of a place that's very popular with the local crowd.

The service here is pretty good during the Dim Sum hours. Carts all around, and pretty cheap. The food is good for the price, they've upped it to $2.70 recently for S/M/L. That was a bit disappointing but what can you do about inflation? Get there earlier than 11 though if you don't want to wait. The dim sum is yum yum in my tum tum. The dinner service is not as great, some of the waitresses look and act pretty cold. I love their seafood though, especially their soup specialty. Their fish is cooked excellently.

Nothing special about the food. I'd say around 2 out of 5 stars in terms of taste and negative stars in pricing. The price is definitely more pricey than places in that area. Sometimes your bill gets up charged. I was once billed $45 by ordering 2 of the cheaper dishes all under $10 on the menu. It should've come out to ~$30 after tax. There was a couple scribbled charges listed after tax I only assumed to be tip but the waiter muttered in Chinese how cheap that I only left around 50 bucks. I didn't even mention I expected change back since I thought the stuff at the bottom was the tip. I guess it was something aside from the entrees, rice, drink and tip charges.

This place is so goood... trying dinner tonight, but went here for dimsum, fresh and yummy. Once again why do people care about large portions, do not get the large portions, large portions equals large proportionate body. But yes fu lam moon is a great dimsum eatery

Seafood is excellent; price is very reasonable. It does not have fancy decorations, but not a hole-in-the-wall type either. In general, the food is above average. Do try their lobster sashimi, shark fin soup, and roasted squab. These are excellent. Also try their house soup; they take hours to make it. Other family style dishes are good also.

This is a solid place to get a small group to eat Chinese food without much to complain about for the price, location, and service. Nothing is spectacular to warrant a signature dish, but it pleases the average person and leaves them with a desire to come back. The shrimp aren't jumbo-sized and the food doesn't make your mouth water, but you'll fill up an empty stomach fast and leave feeling you've had a hearty meal.

Came in on a Saturday at around 1pm and was pleasantly surprised to find a seat right away. I agree that the fish tanks full of seafood as you walk in was a little off. Their dim sum selection was good and the portions were generous. Most of what I had was cooked just right. Their service could have been better. I like their pricing structure. Only two prices: $2.40 or $5.50. Doesn't not get any simpler than that and most common dishes are on the cheaper side of the bill. Also, they didn't try to rush us off on our way like other places I've been too. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for dim sum in this area.

Not too bad at all... We went as a party of 12(9 adults, 2 babies, 1 high chair) and we were all seated when we got there at 11:00am on a saturday. The service was good... the selection that came to the back table where we were wasn't spectacular, but we all went away satisfied. The pricing wasn't too bad either.... call it mid-range and ended up at about $9/person. Sure... I'd go back... it fills that gap of somewhere to go if I'm going south and in the fremont area.

u know i was actually pretty disappointed with this place. i remember coming here before and it was not bad. since i am getting kind of sick of dim sum these days, we didn't order much. ordered the malaysia fried rice noodles, and the only dim sum ordered was egg tarts and some korean short ribs type stuff. so the fried rice noodles.. the cook forgot to add salt dude!! there was like no flavor. had to ask the manager to bring it back, hopefully he didn't add any other "extra" stuff but i guess if he did, we wouldn't know anyway. the egg tarts were not bad, but were a bit on the cold side, even though it looked like they just came out. kinda disappointing. the short ribs? tasted like spare ribs, but using korean short ribs. imuch prefer the other ribs. oh.. also got the sticky rice rolled in bread.. i have no idea what its called in english. my mom kept saying it was good so we got it.. honestly it tasted like the ones u could buy at the store. overall kinda disappointing, i dont think i'd come back.

This place is decent for Chinese food. i think their food is abit too salty for me thou. The wait staff are nice even thou they don't seem to understand too much English. =) It's not a bad place to have lunch at.

This is a worthwhile dim-sum place if you happen to be in the east bay. It's not a very big place, so the selection can be limited at times. It's also the type of place where they ferry the dishes around, so many of them tend to get cold by the time you pick them out. I like the fact that the large, medium, and small items are all the same price. I also like the fact that they show the prices on the order card, so there're no surprises. Service is reasonable. Half the staff there seems to speak cantonese, while the other half speaks mandarin. In the end I just gave up speaking the wrong language to the wrong people, so I just spoke English. Ah, good ol' England to the rescue =)

A friend brought me out for lunch here. We basically ordered whatever dim sum that looked good and picked it up. We only had 5 items and we got hella full which is good sign. My favorite thing were the fried shimp balls. Those things freaking rock. I could eat those every day. I would like to go back and try the seafood for dinner. They have huge live lobster, crab and prawns just sitting there waiting to be eaten. Prices are pretty good so you can skip the burger king and eat here if you are in the area.

Not too bad- there are better but not many outside of SF. They do the cart system and are very up front with the pricing which is great- I absolutely hate the places that don't disclose their pricing upfront. Food can get a bit cold but overall not a bad experience.

I have been to Oakland for dim sum and here countless times and to tell ya the truth I prefer Fu Lam Moon instead of the dimsum places in Oakland. The dim sum is really fantastic and have a very wide variety for a smaller dim sum restaurant! They always have what I want, even on weekdays, which is rare for other places *ahem* Jade Villa. My "Chinese donuts," cheung fan, xiao mai, and other goodies are never served cold like in Oakland and I have never had a bug in my food. I think the service is ok and that is probably b/c I come here w/ my bf who if a fluent Mandarin speaker. I think the only thing that I do not like about this place is the interior. It just looks kinda old and greasy. oh yeah, AVOID weekends! its friggin packed so that must say that its good. The prices are really cheap too for good quality. My bf and I get full off of a total of $15 bucks! *UPDATE* I came here on 12/22/07 and found that they have raised their prices. Each "regular" dish is $2.50. I remember when this place only charged between $1.50-1.75. It wouldn't be a huge deal if maybe they would buy new chopsticks, plates, and the plastic table top (the one that goes over the table cloth). Even though the employees have new uniforms and the interior was re-decorated Fu Lam Moon still feels grimy to me. Theres a picture of Yao Ming above the fish tank. The picture is of him standing in front of Fu Lam Moon but his facial expression doesn't look too happy after his meal.
