No. I will not be back. 1) Asahi beer served lukewarm 2) replacement colder beer was poured into chilled mugs ... um, dirty chilled mugs. 3) a fly buzzed around table the whole time which was distracting and super unpleasant. 4) rolls were ok. Not outstanding. Overall, I've simply had way better experiences going out for sushi. There is unfortunately no comparison to some if my other favorites. This is why I've rated only 2 stars.

  • Luna K.

The roll was horrible. Nigiri was OK as well as Sashimi, too. I should give two stars but the service was so good that I feel obliged to give one more star than it deserves.

I have never seen a elvis sushi place. Very cute!! I was shocked to see the sushi chief with total Elvis hair. Good food and quick! :)

Love this place :) I can't remember the name of the server but she's been there for a while and she always wears 2 different earings. Even if I haven't come in in a while she still remembers my order, and is always on top of refills and pre-bussing the table so plates don't pile up. the food is amazing too try the monkey roll num num num now I'm craving some sushi off I go to E sushi :D

I've eaten here several times since first discovering it. Service has always been quick and pleasant. The food has been reliable and tasty. I have a particular favourite roll, called the Godzilla roll which is nice and spicy. While it's probably not a traditional roll I'm just nuts for it. (I wonder if they'd consider a Gamera roll? ; ) ) Prices are quite fair and the atmosphere while not elegant is certainly quite nice and clean. Anyway, can't recommend E-Sushi enough

You know I love going here cause it's super relaxed and no one judges you if you've had 2 bottles of 375ml sake by yourself. On this visit- Ron R. & I had the following: Nigori Sake @ $12.95 decent Hot House Sake @ $3.50 yumminess Japan Aji aka Horse Mackerel @ $39.99 OMFG!! Get it!! Sweet sashimi that I don't mind looking at me when I eat it!! (Check my pics & like Em for real!!) Tonkatsu Ramen @ $11.95 (good noodle but I used a lot of the S&B Nanami Togarashi (chili pepper) to flavor it up. Best sashimi & sushi here in the tri-valley IMO. Dragon Roll @ $11.95- decent unagi helped me to soak up the sake ;) If you're in the tri-valley give this super casual & unpretentious sushi joint a shot!

I was there at 11:55am for lunch and ordered the chirashi. The water came in a glass that was so fishy smelling, I almost puked. I should have heeded that warning, but gave it a benefit of doubt because of the reviews here. I told the waitress and asked for hot tea instead, to play it safe. The chirashi came after half hour of waiting (there were only 3 other tables...). The fish was limp and the corners of the pieces were rounded. The texture was soft, and the bite was mushy. I still gave it the benefit of doubt because of the ratings here. But 10 mins after lunch, I had the runs....three times. It was quite disabling as I had to cancel my trip to SF because my tummy would not survive the long drive into the city. Never again! I wanted so much to find a good sushi restaurant in Dublin.....I so wanted to like this place.... The waitress was pleasant enough. No fault of hers. Perhaps the cooked food would have been safer to eat.

This place was clean. I ordered chirashi with spicy mayo. I asked for IKA & scallop for my chirashi. The chef asked if he can charge me more. $5 for extra scallop & IKA. I was ok with it. Service was good. Sushi tasted fresh and everything looked good. The salad was tasty too. The only thing I noticed the sushi rice had no vinegar. It was tasteless. I prefer salty rice with a hint of vinegar.

It's a "let's find a nearby sushi place" kinda moment when we went that day. The place was currently only open during dinner time. The place is located on a tiny strip mall where parking is a little lacking during busy business hours. Came in and was greeted warmly by the hostess and seated right away. Took us only awhile to decide what to get since we knew what we were craving for. My Aunt wanted to eat some ramen but they don't have any that time, bummer! Ordered sashimi appetizer, lion king roll, cherry blossom roll and volcano roll. Our order came with edamame and miso soup. Anywho, these sushi/sashimi didn't excite me and there's nothing really anything special to say about it. It's a little on a bland side and to be honest, I've had better sushi somewhere else for the same price. It's filling and our cravings were somewhat satisfied, but disappointed at the same time. Servers were very nice, aside from the one incident where I was flagging down a waitress and she totally ignored me and walked past by our table, thank goodness for this one very nice and attentive waitress though. Anywho, don't know if I'll ever come back to this place, even for spur of the moment deal. Good luck though!

3.5 stars. Why, E Sushi? I've been meaning to write this review for about a year, but every time I feel like giving them a 4-star review, my next visit is less than stellar. Then I'll settle for giving them a 3-star review and they somehow work their way back up the following visit. So frustrating. I tend to like their specials which are listed on the whiteboard adjacent to the door. The Jeazus Awesom god roll was delicious. I believe it was fried baby octopus with some other things. Then some other rolls are pretty mediocre and lack freshness. Lunch bento boxes are just okay. I'm impressed by the fact they ankimo (monkfish liver aka foie gras on the sea) is on the menu but they never actually have it! Maybe because this is Dublin... Anyway I wouldn't mind coming back. I just need to be careful about what I order.

  • Jennifer L.

Really enjoy this place. The Scotland salmon sashimi is my favorite. Monkfish liver is always yummy when the have it. I enjoy trying their sashimi specials as usually they are a hit. Like their lion king special spicy sauce. Spicy scallop hand rolls are great too. I prefer to sit as the sushi bar and se all the action. Here for their reopening and Tanaka IS here! He's the best!! Do t hear the Elvis music though so maybe it's changed with the new decor (which looks great and more inviting!) So bummed some people don't like this place more because I've never been disappointed here but I always order from the specials plus my Scotland salmon.

  • Greg G.

Service is slow! Food is mediocre for a sushi bar. Tiny portions in the rolls. Probably the worst sushi restaurant in the area. Even Dublin Whole Foods serves better sushi!

    (1)
  • Jean Y.

We usually don't order foods from sushi bar, so my review is based on the kitchen. These months, their kitchen is not good as before. The items we would like to order are usually not available. We've been there for more than five years but we are really disappointed these days. The service is good though.

I've been here three times and can say two things, if the place is empty it's worth visiting, if it's busy there are other places with good food. I'm really frustrated, I know they cook well and have fresh fish. But this evening I felt disrespected. We arrived and all of the tables were full, not a problem. There was one couple ahead of my family, not bad for a Friday night. The staff seemed a bit stressed, but they were dealing with a full house, I give some extra slack for that. The couple ahead of us were seated, and then as they were clearing a place for us another family walks in the door, right past us, and stands in front of us at the register like we weren't there. Frustrating but not the restaurants fault. The tables are cleaned, the server started to help the family in front of us and then remembered we were their. She motioned us over to the smaller of the two tables and said "two of you?" despite there being three of us standing there. We corrected her and she sat us at the table for four instead of two. Quickly after that they sat the other family. After that another couple was seated in the small table. Then someone came and dropped off the menus and returned fairly quickly and took our drink orders dropping off the edamame. It went down hill from there. Another couple was seated, then the table behind us (the ones who tried to cut in line) had their order taken, the the couple who were sat just after them got their drinks, and the family behind us got their drinks. We continued to sit. We waited almost fifteen minutes after the family behind us had their order taken and we still sat without drinks or anyone taking our food order. We actually ran a timer from when we saw the drinks delivered to the the table behind us, the five minute mark after their drinks was when we got up and left. To be ignored, while the people who are literlaly seated in the tables around us are served is disrespectful. I don't know why, it's not like we were rude or anythign like that, they just sat us down and then ignored us.

Awesome food and service. The fish is fresh, the presentation is nice. My fave dish is the tanaka roll. Atmosphere is casual and pleasant. Decently priced as well. We go a couple of times a month.

What do I long for? ?? E Sushi!!! My husband and I found this place when we were dating. .. loved the personality of this "must try" restaurant back then... 4 years later it is our date-night retreat! ! Don't be fooled... appearance is un-assuming. . But the quality is excellent! ! This is a special place. .. the OWNER is the chef and takes great pride in presentation of a beautiful plate!! Weekend s get busy... you may have a wait... be patient. .. you will be pleased when your handcrafted meal arrives! We are so hooked on the JESUS IS KING plate. It is chefs choice of all his "top shelf" selection.... I have always been excited about what Tankaka will serve on this wonderful plate. ... We leave feeling happy and very satisfied! ! It's a small place. .. so go early or late. .. cause Dublin locals are out in force during prime time. .... we love Tuesday and Thursday. ..after 7... or 5ish.... We had an amazing time tonight. .. so enjoy this restaurant. .. we sure do!!

After eating here multiple times, I have concluded that you really just need to get nigiri. It's crazy to see the difference in quality between nigiri vs. rolls. For nigiri, the fish is twice the quality if not more. They even have fish shipped from Japan and New Zealand. After doing a no no of eating sushi on a Monday (Anthony Bourdain says shipments are usually on Tuesdays so Monday you get the worst fish), we were still pleased to see how fresh the fish tasted. With almost every standard nigiri you order, the waitress will be able to give you a better version that they have on hand. It will cost a little more but it will be worth it. If you don't know where to start, just order from the Omakase/Specials menu and the chef will choose for you. They have sets that range from $19.95 to $25.00 and even specialty rolls that are mostly $12.95. Everyone knows that I hate the food in the Tri-Valley but this place is really a gem!

Really good food, solid potion size, great service, clean and nice atmosphere. I go frequently, chicken teriyaki gets me every time! Please consider having Sunday hours, I'll settle for half day ;)

  • Tony A.

A solid, local sushi joint! Everyone is extremely nice, and the food tastes great! The fact that I'm also an Elvis fan doesn't hurt either. Elvis songs will lull you into sushi heaven while you eat - and so will the chef's magnificent hair.

    (4)
  • KT T.

Friendly staff and the sushi is good quality. They have the classic American sushi (cali, spicy tuna, ect), but then they also make sushi of a higher quality. I recommend the sushi from their special quality menu, I always get the "Jesus loves me roll". Awesome! It's more expensive but the quantity and quality will not disappoint. The non-sushi menu items are also very good.

I feel really bad because the people here are really nice but there food is horrible. My sashimi tasted like it had bee sitting in a fridge for about a week didn't even look like salmon the color was super dark. The tabiko I got wasn't even tabiko because the eggs were so big and it tasted like i was eating caviar. So fishy & I know what people are going to say its a sushi house its suppose to but out of all the years and times i have eaten sushi which is quite often ill add never ever have i ever had tabiko tasted like that nor have my salmon look that bad. Will not be coming back anytime soon or even again

Based on quality service and price, E sushi is the place to go. Had a very attentive waitress who was on top of refilling our water and tea. Was ready to take our order the moment we stacked our menus. We like spicy rolls so we ordered the Volcano roll and Love Me Tender and were not disappointed. The tuna was fresh and heat was just right. Will definitely be coming back

For the life of me, I thought "E-Sushi" stood for "Electronic Sushi," or "E-mail Sushi!" Imagine the awakening I got when I walked in and found out that the "E" stands for "Elvis!" And boy is Elvis everywhere! The Sushi master wears his hair like Elvis. There are Elvis memorabilia all over the bloody place! And, if that wasn't enough, Elvis music is going 24/7. Mind you, I think Elvis is o.k. but it makes for an interesting combo with my sushi! That said, E-Sushi isn't bad. The food is fresh, the service is a little harried but no worse than many of the places I've been in the Tri-Valley, and the portions are good. Think I trip back here again to give it another go around. Although I may bring my Ipod depending on my mood!

Just moved into Dublin and tried this place based on yelp reviews. Loved the service and the fact that the chief has an Evis hairdue and plays Elvis music. Ask for the Four Eyes saki....I must have pounded four bottles. Rolls were good and I will be back for sure.

The sushi chef also the boss is a super nice guy. He's really an Elvis Presley's eager fan and a convinced Christian. So I can feel he make the sushi with heart. The food is very delicious. The two waitress are pretty nice too.Happy lunch mood. Will back again.

The waitress was very nice and the place was clean. However, the sushi is not made well and the presentation is not there at all. I would not recommend the sushi.

Fish is super fresh every time I come in. Mr Tanaka will custom make anything for you. His special sauces are amazing and he won't share the recipe (dang it). Love this place!

Came here a few years ago and it was average at best not good enough to make me want to return. Tried it again today for a Thursday lunch and its pretty much the same. Maybe I will try again in 3 years see if it improves any. First the good...well its close to home and my wifes Tonkatsu was pretty good and the server was nice. The not so good: Only one server for the entire restaurant so it was very SLOWWWWW. Took 25 minutes just to get our Miso soup! She tried hard but was doing everything herself except for one guy behind the counter! They need more help. As a result it took about an hour to get our meals. Never got my tea or water refilled she just didn't have time to wait on 10 tables and do a good job, not her fault that's the owners fault. Food: The Miso dressing on the salad was so sweet I could not eat it, same with my chicken Teriyaki way too much sugar it was swimming in the sauce. The sushi seemed like was just de-thawed. Overall t wasn't terrible but I sure wont be back, there are better places around I don't get the 4-5 star reviews.

The ramen here is so delicious! I try a different roll every time i come here. Haven't been disappointed once. The service is friendly. I always see the same waitress every time. She seems busy but efficient.

Passing through and pulled off the highway to find dinner. Yelped sushi and found a place with a 45 minute wait, looked again and found E Sushi. I called and they reserved a 4 top right away. Lucky! Walked in and was greeted immediately. The servers were attentive and efficient and the sushi was excellent. Even the kiddos enjoyed it. We will be making this part of our travel plans regularly!

    (4)
  • Zaya F.

Best sushi restaurant I've ever been to. We got the crispy crab roll, lion king roll and the beef ramen. All three dishes were delicious and filling. The server was nice also. The total came out to be only $27! I will become a regular and bring all my friends and family.

  • Brian R.

I go here on a weekly basis and have lived in Dublin for about 2 years. This is my go to sushi place. Fresh fish, great food, great service! That's all you really need. I'm not much of a yelper, let alone the type of guy that updates his reviews; but I felt like I should with some of the negative reviews I've seen. If you're near by, trust me- you WANT to give this place a shot.

This time was a little better. Came to see if the first time was an error...but, food is the same...not much different. The service was really good...

Elvis is dead and this place shouldnt be too far behind. Our waitress appeared to never have been in a restaurant,no less a server. She had no idea of the menu nor the japanese names for the items. She seemed to ask for help on every order or question.Never asked us if we were finished, but delivered the check before we had a chance to order dessert(had Green Tea Ice Cream, and it turned out to be the best item we had all night,)Their spicy tuna roll was atrocious.Think it was made with Belly Tuna???in any case it was loose, fatty and inedible.Their scottish salmon was large and tasteless(very surprised by that as I had it before and even requested a second order)Rock and roll was bland.Nothing appeared fresh or tasty. This place was more like Heartbreak Hotel than Graceland. Will not return!!!!!!!!

  • Adam S.

I came with a group of seven other people. We seemingly sampled everything, and it was all excellent. I can literally say that E Sushi is worth the hour drive that I made from San Francisco. Try the sashimi (all types). The variety is astounding.

  • Janet G.

My husband and I have dined here twice over the course of the last year and both experiences were great. Both times, we have left it to the chef to make the nigiri selection and have not been disappointed. Tanaka-san really knows fish and sources interesting and fresh selections I've never tried but enjoy. His rolls are imaginative and the presentation is impressive. The service is also excellent. Our servers have been knowledgeable about the menu and specials and have steered us right each time. The theme of the restaurant is eclectic: E is for Elvis. The chef has an Elvis hairdo and music playing. Not sure if Elvis was Christian, but the chef is and the dishes have Christain inspired names. Somehow it all works. It is not cheap, especially if your are hungry, so keep that in mind.

We went tonight for my bf's birthday. It was above and beyond amazing. They had otoro and Scotland salmon and they were both amazing. Even though they were busy we had great customer service. They are always amazing, always tasty. This is the place for great sushi in Dublin or san ramon. We come at least once a month and it's always above and beyond the normal sushi house.

YES! We cannot rave about this restaurant enough! We love this place! My girlfriend has been coming here for years and when we started dating she had to bring me just so I could meet Yuki. Yuki is the nicest, sweetest and most knowledgeable server that you will ever meet and i'm so happy that she approved. Now on to the fish, Wow the freshest of the fresh. You will not go wrong here, you will never leave anything but fulfilled and happy. You'll also leave with a healthy dose of the King, did we mention Tanaka the chef loves Elvis?! We love this place and we will always bring our friends, our neighbors and even people we don't like, because at E Sushi everything is Gooooooooood.

Also known as Elvis Sushi :-) The best sushi chef in the Bay Area and also a fun atmosphere with great service. The seating was clean and comfortable. The sushi is very fresh. All of these attributes a winning combination. Will visit again and again.

I came here for lunch with some friends for the first time. I ordered the Phoenix Rolls and they were just okay. Nothing to rave about. Dublin/Pleasanton has many sushi options that are much more memorable so I can't say that I will be back unfortunately.

Elvis Sushi Chief is a real character and goes do good Sushi. We enjoyed several times and it's fine for a casual meal.

I recently stopped here for lunch with my husband. At first everything was great from the prompt service and great menu, then upon ordering our meals the waitress suggested a order of 5 pieces of king salmon that was on special. We decided to order it as it was on "special" upon receiving the check we were charged $21.95 for 5 small pieces of salmon. We asked our waitress what was going on and she just said sorry. Our whole order besides her "on special" recommendation was $18.00. Now normally I wouldn't mind but it was 11:45 in the morning. I probably could have asked the price but proper service industry etiquette states you should state the prices of your lunch specials.

Given some of the reviews, I was really, really pleasantly surprised! My boyfriend and I stopped in at E Sushi because I had a massive sushi craving but didn't want to deal with Amakara's wait or prices. And I'm really glad we did! The prices were right ($30 for us both to eat plenty AND we got complementary edamame and soup!) and the sushi was pretty darn good - especially for those prices. We got the Hallelujah Jesus roll and a couple others, but man oh man that Jesus roll was great for us - why, you ask? Well, think of it more as two different things. On the bottom, there was a fried tempura crab roll, which I thought was tasty and the less adventurous bf really liked. And on top - basically HUGE pieces of sashimi, and it was all really super fresh tasting. The chef is also a hoot - I mean, how many people can say that someone with Elvis hair has made their dinner? But even better, he sent us back a freebie on the house. If you're expecting fancy pants, expensive, stodgy sushi, this joint probably isn't for you. BUT if you like good food at good prices with a whole bunch of character, check this place out!

    (4)
  • charles h.

Got there right when they opened for dinner. I'll keep it short. Tempura udon? Broth too salty but noodle texture above average. Tempura was crisp. Chicken karaage? Batter was different than most places. It was more like coating batter for sweet sour chicken than karaage I've had in other places. They had a good selection of premium sushi. My fave was the salmon. The octopus was also very good. Fish katsu? Bland and mango sauce tasted of medicine. And, I'm not so sure of the Elvis love affair here.

  • Shannon B.

Fantastic sushi in a slightly wacky Elvis themed environment. Highly recommend the crunchy roll and the crazy monkey rolls. The Philly roll and spicy tuna were above average. The service is excellent and very friendly. Its our 2nd time here and we can't wait to go back.

We love this restaurant so much! The employees are always courteous. They greet you when you walk in and there is never a wait to be seated. The food is delicious!!! Elvis fans and sushi lovers... come here!

Not sure how, but it has been 6 years since I reviewed last! I still love Tanaka, he is very creative with the rolls, he's always getting me to try new things, he truly spoils me rotten! Yuki is also amazing, excellent customer service skills, she always has a smile on her face, and truly makes us feel special each time we come in. I don't order the same thing every time I go in anymore, there are way too many delicious options I have yet to explore, but I usually go with the sushi, rather than the cooked food from the kitchen. Although everything I've had from the kitchen is just as amazing as the raw stuff! The food is always amazing, the service incredible, and the atmosphere wonderful! I have been a loyal customer since he opened 7 years ago, and I will continue to get my sushi fix here!

E Sushi is my absolute favorite foodie spot in Dublin! I've been going there for years now and I love the atmosphere, the awesome decor with an Elvis theme, the sushi chef's "Rock N Roll" hairstyle, the main waitress, and the very down-to-earth menu prices. I go there once a week and I always leave happy!!! The service is fast and they are very prompt. The waitress is friendly and always has a smile on her face and not once have I ever had a menu item I didn't enjoy. It's definitely a small place that people could probably overlook since it's hidden behind several other Asian restaurants. Even though E Sushi gets busy, it never gets to the point where you have to wait very long at all. I highly recommend this place for lunches and dinners. It's also very family friendly!

Took my family here on a Friday night. This was our second time coming as we enjoyed their rolls last time. We knew better to not order so much (4 adults and 2 kids) so we got the Spider roll, spicy crab, eastern roll, kids wanted avocado and crispy rolls and then we ordered the boat A to share. The only complaint I have is the delay in the boat. It took forever once we were done with our rolls. Same thing happened last time when we got rolls and bentos. I don't know if they wait until we are completely finished with our rolls before starting the boat. But once it arrived it was huge. It had tempura, skewers, gyoza, chicken and beef. We couldn't finish it of course. Service was good with them always refilling our teas and waters. Will return again but need to tell them to maybe bring out the bento or boat at the same time as the rolls so we don't have to wait so long.

This is our family's tradition; whenever my sisters come into town we come here. You won't be disappointed. Mr. Tanaka loves his fish. And he's getting more and more Elvis memorabilia. You might want to get something for the Missus. ;)

Ordered take out last week and the food was quite good! The teriyaki chicken was good and the sushi was great! Will be back!

The guy that owns the place is really nice, but the fish never tasted fresh out of the few times I've been. All their sauces taste like straight miracle whip and the fish tastes likes it's poorly refrigerated. They gave me a different roll that what I ordered then tried to refuse to take it off when I said I didn't want it. That was the last time I went there. I wouldn't go back or recommend.

Friendly staff. Ok sushi, I would never come back though. Hard to trust these yelp reviews because I was hopeful of the food. I've had fresher fish, tuna, and scallops elsewhere. Sorry, I am very disappointed with the quality.

Just had date night here with the boyfriend. This rating in no way reflects the service because that was fine. No complaints there, but you don't go back to eat somewhere solely based on the service. The food was absolutely horrendous. Ive never been the type to gripe about miso soup - especially when its complimentary, but this was flavored water with bits of firm tofu. Even the tofu was a disappointment, the texture was just too firm. That might be nit picky as hell but come on! How do you mess up the tofu?! We ordered the hamachi roll, crunchy roll, spider roll, beef roll, and some deep fried crab roll. I absolutely despise when Japanese restaurants bathe the roll in some unknown sweet sauce that absolutely overtakes any of the flavor that may or may not have been there. This was the case for EVERY roll we ordered. The hamachi roll probably would have been good sans sauce! The beef roll was covered in some terryaki sauce and the meat on top, cooked to a jerky texture. We each ate a piece and stopped there. It was disgusting. The experience with the other rolls were equally off putting. 3 out of the 5 rolls had onions in them; none of which had stated so on the menu. This isn't just an aversion to onions, my boyfriend gets very sick from eating them. We have NEVER had onions in sushi. When we mentioned this to the waitress, she was very nice and said she would let the chef know. The chef came over , apologized and proceeded to tell us this was (in short) artistic license. I quote "onions are popular now". Im not ordering your artistic license. I'm ordering what is stated on the menu. All said and done, I will never EVER return here.

Nope. Not worth the 3.5 star average. Barely worth the 2 I'm giving. I trusted Yelp and the new bs google maps explore which said this was a favorite of the locals. Sucky sucky sucky. They only had one white wine available, a urine-like Chardonney. They pushed the chef omakazi...maybe for good reason. At the advice of the waiter, I had the seared salmon roll. This thing had he nutritional value of a Big Mac after you accounted for the gobs of mayonnaise on top and the half inch of rice surrounding it. I also had the Love Me Tender roll, which I had picked out before the waiter kept pressing me to order. Turns out it was almost identical to the seared salmon roll, I I say and basically ate 2 of the same roll for 20 mins until they made up some bs about having to close early so I was basically kicked out. Maybe they were mad that I was dissecting the rolls to remove as much rice as I could pinch off with my mayonnaise greased chopsticks. Then they didn't take Discover. If you like white rice, come here. If you like sushi, MAYBE try the nigiri or sashimi, but I'd suggest going somewhere else. Unless you love Japanese men with Elvis haircuts. Pleasanton/Dublin must be sushi hell. These reviews are not to be trusted. There's a sushi place on every block. I haven't found a winner yet.

5 years of coming here and I can't seem to find enough amazing things to say about this place. Tanaka the owner, and his staff has made the place feel like a second home. This restaurant has truly made me appreciate sushi as not only a food but an art. You can taste the passion and dedication they have in each one of their rolls.

---Affordable Sushi--- E Sushi is a nice place to enjoy okay quality Japanese food. There are various distinctions to why this place isn't premium or "fancy to the taste." 1. The restaurant does not use fresh foods. The avocados are slimy and the fish tas

I have been a regular lunch time customer and love their teriyaki chicken/grilled saba bento combination. I decided to try some carry out sushi and appetizers for dinner. I ordered the chicken karage which was pictured on the menu as the traditional style-ginger/soy marinated chicken fried with a light coating of corn starch. What I got instead were niblets of bland chicken scraps, overly breaded in tempura batter and heavy on grease accompanied by tonkatsu sauce for dipping. This is not karaage and wound up in my garbage can. Also ordered salmon skin roll, which is supposed to crisp and light-instead got greasy chunks of salmon with fishy skin. That went into the garbage too. The nigiri sushi combination was only fish- no shrimp, no tako, no eel, no squid , no variety to speak of. The spicy tuna roll was unformed, completely falling apart and drenched in a bland, heavy on the mayonnaise sauce. I suspect that the kitchen cooks make the rolls as they were amateur and unsavory.

Stopped in because was in the area. First sushi place I ever been to where the place is Elvis-ed out! And you guessed it Elvis was the chef behind our NOT-so great sushi rolls. The rolls were a lot smaller then what they seem in the menu, and were all mostly drenched in heavy sauces; usually attended for hiding the not so fresh fish used in the rolls. The sashimi was sooo small, they looked like dog treats. The service was good but unfortunately I rather have good fresh fulfilling sushi than good service alone. Ps. "E"-Sushi? Name or Grade they receive as far as taste of their food? mmm

Tanaka continues to amaze me. Brought my father to E Sushi (note that he is my inspiration for yelping) to allow him to experience this fantastic sushi bar. His take was "one of the best", in fact he was embarrassed to say that it was almost better than his other favorite place, which I know is also Amazing. The specials is where it's at, the regular menu is typical, but the specials is where you'll get your true money's worth. Enjoy!

Every table was taken and there was a line waiting on the night we visited. The SERVICE WAS VERY FAST!! It took no longer to receive our order than if we were the only ones in the restaurant.

I have to say this was a great surprise. My friends and i just finished with our wonderful spa pedi's at Synergy and wanted sushi. The girls at the nail place told us that e-sushi was pretty good so we went! Yay!!! It was so yummy! We ordered the dragon roll, Philly roll, and the chicken teryaki! Everything wad delicious! I especially loved the teryaki chicken! It's the best I've had... Tons of chicken with veggies like zuchinni and bok choy. The service was great and the prices were very reasonable. I will definately visit this place again.

Not impressed. I ordered the 49er roll and the Tanaka roll (substitute salmon on outside instead of tuna). Asked for salmon belly in my sushi, and it didn't taste like it. Come to find out - I didn't get salmon belly. They put in some "fresh organic fish that is very high quality from Shetland, an island by Scotland" and charged more. But no belly like I asked for. Why give me something that I didn't ask for and charge more for it??? One of my rolls came out kind of smashed in the middle, all of the spicy tuna (which was slimy) squished out of one end. The cucumber inside the rolls had the center part with the seeds, have not seen that anywhere else I've had sushi and I don't do that when I make it at home because it makes the insides of the rolls too wet. The rice did not taste seasoned at all. The low sodium soy sauce tasted watered down. Also, it is a good thing I am not allergic to sesame seeds. Just don't like the taste. I asked for none and she asked me if I still wanted the spicy sauce. I said yes. After I started eating I found sesame seeds in the spicy sauce. Sigh. Boyfriend got some sort of combo meal with cooked fish and tofu, and a samurai roll. He said his samurai roll was not good, something was off about it. He said it was the best tofu he'd ever had (and he doesn't like tofu...he's a meat and rice man). My son got a Suspicious Minds roll that he seemed to really enjoy, in addition to an unagi hand roll and a crunch roll.

Worst service ever. I'm not really sure how this place is still in business. I've been here twice...once on a Sat night and once on a Sat for lunch. Both times there is only one chef and one waitress. Talk about being cheap. This arrangement might work fine on a Tuesday night but come out of your pocket a little and hire some help! Food is just so-so. Twice they've said that they don't carry a standard fish, but you can buy a specialty version of it from Japan for X dollars more. No thanks!

4.5 Stars really! It was starting to get busy. So the gf and I took the bar for the first time. We couldn't decide on what to order, because we've already tried over half of the sushi on the menu. Sushi Master Tanaka helped us, and I poured on the questions. Since I'm fat, he recommended Today's Special the Sushi Toro (a rare cut from a blue fin, fatty, but a rich section of the tuna)... I cut a small piece of the tuna off, and it just melted in my mouth, soft taste. Sorry, but I ate the rest before realizing I didn't take a picture of it. The gf said "I could have just eaten it without the rice. It was so good." +.5 I asked about going to the market and buying fresh fish. Tanaka says, "I get it delivered to me. I'm already known." That's good to hear too. So, we ordered the E Sushi, the house's sushi. Fantastic with the unexpected spicy scallops on top. ...and just seeing him create the Graceland was well worth it. Precisely thin filleting a cucumber. If you need a break from a spicy or crunchy sushi, order the Graceland. It was a refreshing taste. +.5 more for the E sushi and +.5 more for the Graceland. In summary, I think the fact that A) Tanaka has over 30+ years in the sushi business , and B) This place is traditional, and does not have a commercialized website pretty much speaks for it's self. If you want sushi (of the three in the area), I choose E Sushi 1st, then Sushi Q (good lower budget rolls), then Amakara (overrated but decent / americanized).

I have been coming here for the past few years now and the quality has been going down hill. The last few times i ordered from here the sushi have way too much rice and rice are too wet making it taste horrible. Need to look for a new sushi place now.

E Sushi! does not open on time. Because of this, I have never actually eaten here. Several times on the weekend I wanted to come for lunch but it was not open yet. Once a friend and I showed up at 11:20. The sign on the door says it opens at 11:30. OK, we'll just wait. Even the sushi chef is waiting outside. 20 minutes later, we ask him what time they open and he tells us his boss is running late and he's not sure. I'm usually very understanding but the fact that they open late often makes me wonder about their work ethic. How else are they running this business? Friend and I were pretty hungry after a long morning hike and did not feel like waiting much longer. Inside, the chairs are still up on the tables so we figure even if it opened soon, they still need to clean up and set up.

My boyfriend and I came here for dinner after seeing that it had 3.5 stars on Yelp. They also had an announcement about a free Crispy Crab Roll with a $25 purchase and if you mention "Yelp." We gladly jumped on the deal. The edamame was free and the hot tea was also free upon request. We ordered the following: 2 Yakiniku Ramen (which came with salad), Eastern Roll and Tempura Roll. We told them about the Yelp announcement and they gladly gave us the free roll... score! The salad and the rolls were all very good, fresh and rolled nicely; it didn't fall apart. You can taste the difference between the 3 rolls and taste the different ingredients, unlike some places where they all taste the same. And the ramen? Oh boy, this sucker was huge! Our server came with a bowl and I thought that it was nice of them to put our orders together, but no... that was only ONE order. She came out with another bowl! Luckily, they didn't sacrifice quantity for the quality which is always a plus in my book. The ramen wasn't too salty and the noodles were made to perfection. It was so good, we still kept eating even if our tummies couldn't expand anymore. Great tasting broth and noodles, and there were plenty of left-over for my lunch at work the next day. Which by the way, it still tasted as delicious. Now this was the deal breaker for me. I was so close of giving them 5 stars until we ordered dessert. I love tempura ice cream and I'm always down to get one at restaurants who serve them. I came to find out that their tempura ice cream had rice in it. I've never heard of such thing and I hesitantly tried it. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't spectacular-blow-my-tastebuds either; it was just... different. I don't think I'll order it again though. Next time I'll try their mochi and yes, there will be a next time. =)

Oishii! E! Sushi has a lot of specialty rolls to offer. Some with a little too much fancy sauce if you ask me, but the rolls we had were all yummy! We had the Angel, Albacore, Super Hamachi. Yay for complimentary edamame and miso soup too! Pretty quick service for two people running the place. I'd definitely come back! They have some great lunch specials too. Apparently they also have weekly deals if you follow them on Twitter!

3.5* To note: I have yet to distinguish taste between types of raw fish. I can only tell bad old fish from fresh fish. 1. Friendly, helpful and attentive service 2. Can't forget Elvis playing while you dine. I now know more Elvis songs than I thought 3. Rolls are better from what i remember. Variety to choose from. Menu now includes Korean options like bbq meats and tofu soups 4. food hit or miss. Dad ordered teriyaki beef which was mostly fat and the actual meat was chewy. I had rolls here second time and enjoyed them. 5. There's a list of fish from Japan and Hawaii on blackboard which is nice for fish of the day (or week). What I ordered: I ordered chirashi (not sure of spelling) but for around $18, I had a bowl of rice topped with assortment of fish including salmon, two types of tuna, octopus- chewy, and other fish..sorry I'm not knowledgeable on types of fish. And included salad and soup. One gripe-a slice of fish tasted fishy but the rest had no fishy taste. I'd def order it again. My dad had chicken teriyaki- large portion, came on sizzling platter. He enjoyed it. Not best food ever where I feel like I crave it but was satisfying enough. For great service, overall tasty food, nice decor, and extensive menu, I'd come back.

The LETTER 'E': stands for "Elvis". The owner has mounds of Elvis memorabilia all over the restaurant. This places packs on punch for lunch! Lunch combos offer several items, but I think the Hamachi is the tastiest; pan-fried, crispy outside, juicy on the inside. They hose down the salad with a sweet mustard dressing, so just ask for it on the side. Don't really get a sense of freshness in the sashimi. Everything else is pretty mediocre.

I have been to this restaurant a few times. It is not that good, but it is ok. But this last time I went, I ordered the vegetable sukiyaki and it was so bad I couldn't eat any of it. My husband was being nice and switched his food with me, but after one spoonful of the sukiyaki he gave the dish back to me and demanded his dish back.

I came here today and I learned why it's so busy but why I am not blown away. Elvis uses dull knives! I like sashimi. But everyone here is eating rolls. I think my fish was tough. But it wasn't. It was just cut against the muscle. Elvis fights the fish. Elvis needs to work with the fish. I'm no sushi chef, I'm just calling it how I see it. If you like rolls. Come here. They have good rolls.

This has got to be the worst waitress experience I've had. Went here during lunch with a limited amount of time. Got there to meet some friends. The waitress walked up to take our order. She took the first order, then mid-sentence when I was talking, she walks away. Comes back 2 minutes later to ask me for my order again, then moves on to the girl next to me, and MID-SENTENCE AGAIN, she walks away. The girl had already said her full order when the waitress was standing there, but when the waitress came back, she asked for her order again. 1/2 hr later we got our order, and I scarfed down what I could eat. I didn't wait for the waitress to come back to ask for a to-go container, I walked up to the counter to ensure that I would get one right away. The food was good, but I won't be back for lunch unless someone drags me here.

I went to E Sushi yesterday based completely on their Yelp ratings and I must say I was pretty disappointed. The sushi was not great on taste or presentation. When I received my rolls I was almost afraid to eat the one I ordered with tuna as it just didn't look right. I didn't get sick but definitely not the feeling you want to have when eating raw fish.

If it was possible to give negative points here I would... Came here last night right after my 12 hour work day and flight from LA... after landing my fiance requested some udon for dinner so I called E Sushi for a togo order. Now take into account that I called from OAK airport and I assumed that by the time I drive all the over to Dublin that my food would be packed an ready to go. Bad assumption...Not the case... i arrive at E Sushi and walked in .. no one was manning the counter so waited for about 5 mins even before anyone acknowledged me. I have been to this place many many times to the point where the staff recognizes me so I was expecting a little customer loyalty boost in service.. bad assumption there again.. I was told that it will take about 5 mins more and to sit down at which point I conveyed how tired I was with work and travel and all and if they can speed it up... I was told "sure sure" another 5 mins and it'll be out. Another 5 mins later the waitress presented me with the bill so I assumed the food was done.. so I paid and waited for my food to come out... Apparently not... so I waited some more.. After waiting another 30 mins ( must be way past an hour since I had ordered the food) my resolve came to an end and I politely asked for the order to be cancelled. For some reason the 2 different waitresses would I talked to decided to ignore my comment for cancelling my order and said "Oh, the food is done!" and started preparing it togo. I repeated several times again ...that I would like to cancel my order... Its just not worth spending over an hour of my time for some Udon and rice plate. Finally I was able to convince the waitress to cancel my order and left... tired ..hungry.. and no food. Thanks guys...for taking care of your regulars..appreciate it.

I have driven by this place about a million times but never ate there until recently. I've eaten here about three times now. The prices are great, the selection is surprising. I feel safe enough to eat the sashimi here. Seems like they have a large take out clientele as well. I'm not big on Elvis but it isn't so overpowering to make it an unpleasant dining experience. It's fun and the energy always seems to feel good. They are good with kids and help make good choices for the kids.

Okay, the gimmick is cute. The sushi chef has an Elvis hair cut and the place is surrounded with Elvis decor and music. Awesome. However, the rolls are sloppy and the fish isn't the freshest. It's not terrible but sushi is supposed to be an art. This looked like art a 5 year old would give you at the end of a day in Kindergarden. Overall, not impressed and I don't really have a reason to go back.

Nothing bad but nothing exceptionally good. Shared the Angel and and Tiger roll and both were pretty decent. Came close to closing time and they were really great about accommodating us. Service was good. I like that the hot tea was served in bigger cups. Hot House Sake - eh. Butterfish nigiri - wow, pretty good. Although it was a little warm. Overall, ok. I give it 3.5. stars.

E Sushi looks big from the outside but is actually a small 15 table sushieria with a short sushi bar against the wall. when i entered and was waiting for a seat, (they were in the process of opening.) the sushiman beckon me over and asked me "do you recognize me?" i said no. sushiman: "you used to come to my father's restaurant in albany, ......." then i remembered (haven't seen this guy in 30 years?) and told him i remembered his brother who used to operate kotobuki on piedmont ave. in oaktown...tragically, a 3rd brother was killed in a late night robbery at the eatery and they subsequently sold it. music: elvis presley sampling: chirashi, 13.95 -miso soup, nice but kind of salty -edamame beans (comped) nice -salad with miso dressing, nice -3 tuna -3 salmon -wakame (seaweed) clump: nice -2 red snapper, kind of chewy -3 hamachi, kind of mushy -japan fluke fish 2/7.95 : firm like ika, and fresh, not my kind of fish. -japan deer island hamachi 2/7.95 : very creamy, sweet. was comped an extra piece. temaki: -generous slices of sashimi on the chirashi and nigiri -black board items very fresh, price reasonable. -e stands for elvis, elvis memorabilia everywhere. -will repeat sometime. -lunch specials 7.95.. -service professional and courteous.

if sushi refers to rice, the quality of sushi here is subpar--very dry, not well seasoned, and rolls fall apart easily. the quality of fish was ok. ordered food to go. waitress said order would be ready in 20 minutes. went back in 25 minutes later...nothing. she said it'll be another 15 minutes. ok no prob bob, but when I went back in 15 minutes later, she said it still wasn't ready. so, I stayed inside to just observe...1 waiter, 1 waitress, very disorganized, inefficient, ticket orders piling up on the counter for the sushi chef seemingly in no particular order (probably why our order was put together hastily and sooo late). our order was thrown together 7 minutes later. very disappointing for our first time here. I wish I could say it was worth the wait.

I ordered the $7.95 lunch special that seemed like a great deal. Opened my take out boxes and things looked yummy. California roll...liked the rice then I got to the "krab" and it tasted funny...spit it out. Then I went to the "garlic chicken". More like sweet and sour sauce with red pepper flakes drenched chicken pieces. I feel so misled!

I have nothing to say except good things about E Sushi. There is only one sushi chef and he is one of the most passionate people I have ever met. He is meticulous in his actions, eager to please with his art, and sacrifices nothing when it comes to getting the most fresh ingredients. All of these opinions were formed well before I actually met and talked to the owner, his wife, and employees. After meeting and talking to them, it's great to say that they are just wonderful people as well. There are plenty of great sushi bars out there, but very few have that extra something that E Sushi does. I will continue to frequent this establishment even though I live 4 hours away... I encourage all to give it a shot. It's much more than just Sushi.

I wanted to take the time and write yet another, more updated review about E Sushi. I've just recently taken a look at some of the new reviews, and was appalled by what some people were saying. I am in no way biased, as I did not know the owners previously, nor did I even know about this place until a friend told me to check it out. My great grandparents are from Japan, and my grandparents still cook traditional Japanese food, including homemade sauces and their own fresh sashimi, so it is important to me that I go to a restaurant that can rival that of my family's good cooking, and E Sushi goes above and beyond my expectations. I have never eaten somewhere where the chef is SO incredibly dedicated to the quality and freshness of his fish. If I request a particular fish (my favorite is the onshi hamachi) and he doesn't think it is top notch at the time, he will say it isn't the best in season right now, here is something you might like instead. He would NEVER serve anyone anything less then the freshest fish. He is super meticulous about where he orders the fish and who he orders it from. I saw someone post a comment about how the fish was soft and that meant it wasn't good. On the contrary, that means it was the better part of the fish; the fatty part. Hasn't anyone heard of TORO? The environment is so friendly and welcoming, and the people there are nothing but nice. I recommend people to sit at the sushi bar and actually talk to the chef. Ask him questions and ask what fish is in season. He can answer you without hesitation and will tell you where his fish is from, and why the fish is better from certain parts of the world. Plus, he plays Elvis music all day. :) Best in the Bay. Swear.

Past visits to E-Sushi were enjoyable with good, fresh food, sushi/rolls, and service. Past couple of recent visits were disappointing. We normally order the uni (sea urchin), which USE TO BE served fresh. Now it comes slightly frozen and slightly smaller. We asked before ordering if the uni was fresh and they said it was. When we mentioned the uni was frozen, the server went to ask the sushi chef and came back that it was "normal". This was on a weeknight and not busy. Very disappointing for an otherwise nice place for general japanese food.

A late start but the food was good. We arrived for lunch at 11:40am and the staff must have arrived to work late as they were still mopping the floor and setting the tables. We all have bad days, right? Once we were seated and our order was taken things were much smoother. I had the Yaweh roll and it was very fresh. My only concern was the pieces of fish on top were soooooo big I couldn't eat them. We also had the Dragon roll which was good too. The prices are average for sushi in the area. All in all I would go back.

Went to E Sushi for lunch with my sister. As soon as we stepped in, we were greeted by a friendly hostess. She provided excellent service: immediately taking our orders, refilling water/tea, asking how the food is. We ordered the Phoenix Roll and this alternative of a Bull Roll (forgot the name, but it has seared beef on it), fried oysters, and tempura. The Phoenix Roll was decent, it was like a california roll with yellow tail on top with an amazing sauce to complement it. The roll that's similar to the Bull Roll, was pretty interesting. The seared beef was definitely very good with the roll itself. The roll had a bit of a salsa-like taste to it. Fried oysters are about the same at any sushi place. The batter for the tempura was mediocre. Rolls were decent and the service was good.

Stopped in here out of desperation because I promised the kiddo sushi and my first choice in Dublin, Amakara, apparently doesn't do lunch on Saturdays. Despite overall Yelp rating, decided to give it a go. Sushi was so poor that we actually left food behind (this does not usually happen). Had tekka, negihama, spicy tuna and a Philly roll. Philly roll had a disgusting sweet sauce on it and way too much cream cheese. Spicy tuna wasn't. Picked out the fish from the tekka and negihama rolls because the rice was overdone and unpalatable. The overt religious stuff (tip jar for church, three or four rolls about Jesus) made me raise my eyebrows but I figured hey, freedom of religion and all; I shouldn't judge. Wish I had taken as a sign to gtfo instead... Sushi from Safeway would have been twice as good at half the price. My daughter liked their mural of Mt. Fuji, which prompted an afternoon of obsessive discussion about volcanoes ('cuz three year olds are awesome like that). But other than that, our visit was a bust.

Overall it was very good, one of the better sushi places in the area. It's not really a sushi restaurant, it's a fusion korean/japanese food place that serves fish too. We tried the combos, they are huge. If you don't have a big appetite, consider splitting a combo and get a small side, it's more than enough for two people. The short ribs are great, very tender and well seasoned. The seafood tofu hot pot was very bland, not spicy at all, and there is a ton of tofu but very little seafood. Also, when it came out it was tepid, so the raw egg in it didn't cook. The bottom was hot, and when I kept stirring the soup eventually all of it got hot, but it should come to the table completely hot. Raw egg, yuck. Husband had udon, tempura, and a side of tuna sushi. He liked all of it, and couldn't finish it, which is rare, meaning there was a lot of food. Service was incredibly polite, pleasant, solicitous, and charming. We'll go back and try it again.

E Sushi is a basic Japanese restaurant with decent offerings of rolls, sushi, and cooked items. They offer a $7.95 lunch special where you choose 2 items for a Bento Box lunch that comes with miso soup, rice, and salad. I picked spicy chicken from group A, and salmon rolls from group B. Group A offered more of the teriyaki chicken/beef, tonkatsu and grilled items, while group B held tempura, california rolls, spicy tuna rolls, etc. From my bento box, I really enjoyed my salad (though they could go lighter on the dressing) and my salmon roll (6 pieces). They put takuan or yellow pickled radish inside which was an unusual but tasty addition. My spicy chicken was more disturbing as a visual, as it came slathered with nuclear red sauce, reminding me of the gochijan from Korean cuisine. The chicken sported a naked pale grill color in contrast. Taste-wise, it was fine. Big portions, big enough for me to take half home to have another time. I'll have to come back some time to try out rolls with a group to share.

Ate there today just out of the blue, but based on other reviews I read. I ordered a two item lunch box with a California roll and Gyoza. It also came with soup, salad and steamed rice. I also ordered a Spicy Crab roll. It's basically a California roll that's deep fried with spicy sauce drizzled on top. I liked it more than I thought I would. The server was very nice, friendly and attentive throughout our lunch. The food also came out fairly quickly. I would recommend it. I'll be back to try some other items on their menu.

They were good, no complaints, but with lots of competitors to choose from, they didn't offer anything unique enough for me to make them my exclusive sushi choice.

Do not come here and order sashimi on mondays!! I feel bad about writing this review because the servers are the best. We came here on a Monday night and I ordered the combination sashimi. I guess monday may not be the best time to go out for sushi since youre most likely getting the hangover of the weekend. The yellow tail was disgusting, I had to spit it out. The tuna was fishy and the salmon was just not fresh. I did have a couple slices of the butterfish which was good. My bf loves this beef noodle soup called yakinikunu and we can't find this at any other sushi restaurant around. The soup was just not as good this time.:( I asked the server when they usually get their shipments and she said Thursday and Friday.. So because I've had good experiences here in the past I may pay them a visit during those days but definitely not Mondays!!

To be fair, I've only had lunch from E Sushi once. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and tried the spicy tuna roll as well as the california roll. I have to tell you, I've had better california rolls elsewhere. However, the spicy tuna roll was delicious and so was the teriyaki chicken. I was pleased with the lunch special, you get soup, salad, chicken, and a sushi roll for about $7 and some change, I think that's a deal. The teriyaki sauce is not too sweet, it's just right. Now, if you are a ginger dressing fan like I am, don't expect to find that here. The salad dressing does not tast like ginger at all, it was good though. I will definitely stop here again for lunch.

E Sushi, where do I begin with you? One day at work one of my fellow sushi lover coworkers and I were feening for some sushi. We decided to try out a new place and E Sushi grabbed our attention with their good reviews. After looking at some of the pictures posted we decided on some rolls and placed a call for a pick up order. We ended up ordering: - Krusty Krab Roll - Love Me Tender Roll - Green Dragon - California Roll When we first opened the box something smelled awfully fishy. Fresh sushi does not smell like this! We should have sent the food back, but we took a late lunch and didn't have enough time to bring it back. So regardless of any warnings our noses were telling us, we ate the food anyway. *sigh* I won't bother going into detail of each roll, as they were all lackluster and quite disappointing. The texture and taste of the rolls just seemed to be off. I had to stop eating as I feared I might get sick. I lost my sushi appetite for three weeks after eating at this place. This will be my first and last time and E Sushi. Summary (1 Star): I wasn't sure where to begin, but I know where to end this. E Sushi?? .....more like Ehhh Sushi! Ehhh, next time I'll pass.

My GO-TO Sushi place. I've been a regular here since 2010 and have introduced this place to so many of my friends and no one has ever had a complaint!! Their rolls are affordable and delish. If you are REALLY hungry I suggest getting a bento box, the portions are HUGE. Rolls I like are the Crispy Crab roll and Lion King. The Gyoza is a MUST. Overall a great place.

I went here with boyfriend and his cousin for dinner a week ago. Despite it being quite packed we were seated in less than 5 minutes. Our waitress was peppy and very adorable. Yay for adorable waitresses! We ordered a number of things. Boyfriend and cousin got the chirashi bowl while I opted for the ramen. We got the lion king and a specially made roll of whatever ingredients we wanted. The ramen was so delicious I didn't want to share with my boyfriend, but I did because... I couldn't keep this gem all to myself. It had a light feeling but was still packed with beef and mushroom flavor. I didn't finish my ramen and took it home. The noodles were surprisingly still intack and hadn't absorbed any of the flavor. In fact, it still tasted as if I had just gotten it. Score! We liked the special roll because we just listed a few ingredients that we wanted and asked the waitress to consult the sushi chef. It was so delicious! I'm not a fan of raw fish, so I only had one piece - but it was pretty good. The lion king was delicious as always. Nom nom nom. I really enjoy this place. I'd choose it over Amakara any day! VERDICT: Delicious food. Great service. This is my sushi place to go to!

Yum! I love this place. The sushi is fresh, the portions are a good size & the staff is so friendly. My favorite rolls are the Graceland (wrapped in cucumber) & the All Shook Up. Try everything... you'll love it. Oh-- be sure to like Elvis. There is Elvis music, memorabilia & obviously, some of the rolls are named after "The King'". It's all fun :)

Decided to give this place an other try because I hear nothing but good things even though last time I had nothing but a bad experience. This time when going inside there was def still a smell but it wasn't a over powering fish smell. I am not sure what it was. This time I ate there instead of getting it to go. The server was very nice and kept checking on us but was not pushy as we took awhile to order. I don't even remeber all the rolls we got but we ordered 5 total. Everything came out great. We even got the house saki which was a good deal at $5 for a large. My roommate really liked that they were playing Elvis the whole time and the chef even has a pomador (not sure how to spell) Over all we had a good experience but concidering how bad it was last time I am still not sold. I guess I will have to try it again but from this experience I can def say it is worth a try.

There's a special place in my heart for sushi joints that offer free edamame and tea. We were at the town center in Dublin when we had the sudden craving for ramen. We yelped a few places and found that E Sushi was offering a free Crispy Crab Roll with purchase of at least $25. Perfect! I'm not sure what we were thinking but we ordered a Eastern, Shrimp Tempura and the free Crispy Crab Roll followed by Yakiniku Ramen with the included salad and the on-the-house edamame and tea. The portions were humungous: the rolls were stuffed and the ramen was packed with everything you could imagine. We weren't able to finish the ramen (we had enough for lunch the next day) but still ordered the Tempura Mango Ice Cream. That was different. So, it starts with tempura, then you got rice, then mango ice cream and drizzled with strawberry syrup. Wait, rewind... RICE? Yeah, there was rice. It was really odd, the texture just wasn't right. Aside from the food, the service was great and everyone was really nice. Also it took us a few to realize what the 'E' stood for- the Sushi Chef wore his hair like the King of Rock 'n' Roll, there was a hip-shakin' clock at the entrance and the 'Best Of' collection came through the juke like it was the mid-1950s. In the end, if I was to set aside the dessert, I enjoyed the main courses and E's became one of my favorite sushi/ramen establishments in the East Bay.

My friend and I came here before we were going to get massages and lets just say that it was a bad idea. First, the service is extremely slow. We were in a hurry that night but it took about 45 min to an hour to get a plate of sake nigiri. I'm not sure if they forgot about us but we had to ask them when our dishes would arrive. 2nd - we had to cut our massages short since both my friend and I got sick with food poisoning when we were there. We could only assume it was the food since we both were sick.

We recently went to E Sushi! again after having been there a couple of times in the past. From our past visits, I remember we had a decent/good experience with the service and food. Not sure what happened since then, especially with the quality of the food. The service was still good this time around, so this review is purely based on the the food. A couple of the rolls we ordered were covered in this odd light brown sweet sauce that had us scratching our heads. We ordered a Philly Roll and it was drenched in this sauce, which totally threw off the taste. The 49er Roll did not have lemon on top, which is fine, but I would not call it a 49er Roll as lemon is a normal (important) ingredient of that roll. Some of the rolls had red onion in it as well, which was OK, but again, not expected (not mentioned on the menu). The rice on the rolls was way overcooked, which created a dense, gooey substance. As hungry as we were, the density of the rolls got us full quickly and it was not enjoyable. We could also tell that they were made in a hurry and falling apart (in their defense, it was a busy evening). Overall, at the end of our meal we were just disappointment that the food was below average. Its one of of those places where you want it to be better, because the people are nice and the prices are right. Summary: good prices, good service, clean restaurant, but the rolls were below average. Given some of the local alternatives, it's very likely we will not be returning here. Tip: A great alternative if you are looking for a good-priced, decent quality sushi restaurant is Fat Fish in Pleasanton... we've been there twice since it opened and it was pretty good.

Just went back after LOVING this place, and had a MEH experience. The sushi was just ok, the sushi was covered in sauce and my boyfriend said his tuna has a really fishy smell. :( I still love the people that work here, but probably will be giving it a break.

Great rolls for a great price, I usually get a dragon, lion king & a misc other roll, they are almost all under $10 and are 8 piece rolls. The service is great, they are always refilling drinks and Chef Tanaka is awesome!

Awesome, real sushi. If you know sushi, this is not Korean style, this is the real thing. Tanaka-san is amazing! Take it from a Japanese-American girl, don't miss this place! Let Tanaka-san make you what he deems best. Trust him. You won't regret it!

We went here for lunch. They offer several lunch options, allowing you endless combinations of signature Japanese dishes (i.e. teriyaki, katsu, mackeral, california rolls). The food is well seasoned and prepared and the portion sizes are generous, especially for lunch. Their spicy tuna and rock 'n roll rolls are great options. Their karaage isn't anything special, but I recommend everything else. They don't have a soda machine and only offer cans, which is a drawback. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming.

I went there on a recommendation of someone I trust. My son and I walked in, sat at the sushi bar, and were immediately served Miso soup and edemame. Both good. We asked the Sushi chef what was fresh. He steered us right. Everything we had was top notch. Spider roll was one of the best I have had. Sake, fatty tuna, and Himachi were all fresh. My son wanted to try the Tako (octopus) and he suggested the Ajisuke Tako. Excellent suggestion. We then got an order of the Tako to compare and he was right. The only problem is that Ajisuke Tako is very hard to find. So it may not be available next time. And then he gave us each a slice of the white tuna just to taste. My only complaint (mentioned here by others) is that the sushi pieces are a little too large. It's great for getting your $ worth, but not so great for eating gracefully. Great service. Constantly clearing plates, refilling tea and water, etc. Tanaka-san was a pleasure to watch and speak with. Would I go back - definitely.

Our top choice of Japanese Restaurants. When first looking over the reviews, I was surprised to see some 1 star and 2 star reviews on this place, yet with most restaurants, you can't please everyone. Taste are certainly different with people. Being that most of those lower marks are old reviews, maybe this place has made some improvement. We have been going here for about the last 3 years. In the last year, it has been almost every Friday night. I think the quality has gotten consistently better, and from the way that place is packed with people at night, I guess many other customers agree it is great. My Asian wife (I'm a pasty white boy), both love E Sushi for a variety of dishes. While I am a big fan of the spicy "Lion King" roll and I usually get that one to take out, we do try other rolls and Tempura (which is nice and crisp with fresh vegetables). I like the fact that the salads (love that sauce) are keep nice and cold because of all the food born bacteria issues I have had in the past at other restaurants, it was due to room temperature salads being prepared in advance and not kept cold. Service is REALLY FAST. Those gals run around that place as if it were on fire. I never saw anyone work so hard. We never wait long for the meal to be ready. They are really friendly and attentive as well. Portions of the food are generous. Some competitive restaurants fatten up their rolls with lots of rice to hide a small portion of fish inside "Where's the Fish". But not E-Sushi. They give you what you pay for. The restaurant is kept clean, nice tables with easy to clean surfaces. Otherwise the ambiance is typical of others in the bay area. The only thing I can never figure out is how are these people and the owner still sane? What I mean is that Elvis is constantly playing (we like that as we like Elvis's music), but it must drive them nuts night after night, week after week, month, year... etc. I guess they just tune it out. I know all the words to every Elvis song by now. Hey, don't knock it. The place is called "E"-Sushi you know, not "Ozzi-Sushi". We have never had a bad food experience. We will certainly continue to eat here and. Keep up the good work!

An amazing Sushi joint! Their selection is huge and they have pictures for almost all the rolls, as well as sashimi, nigiri, and alot of dishes w/ fish- grilled. I love their Crispy crab rolls! - avocado and cucumber, dipped in tempura batter, quick fried, sliced and served with 2 types of tobiko sauce. One pretty spicy :D You get about 8 pieces for only $4.95! Great deal! I have only been here a few times, and I always end up getting that and their Dragon roll. Yummy, their California roll is also tasty, massive amount of cream cheese which is heaven! Delicious! My next trip i'll try some new rolls, and test out their spider roll! I give them 4 stars because while dining, there was a fly hovering around everywhere and I cannot stand flies... But either way their atmosphere is great, especially Elvis in the back of the counter, cooking. E Sushi is mouth watering and real tasty!

once again it just goes to show that looks can be deceiving and a restaurant in a small run down strip mall can turn out to be one of the best places to eat. hey rent is cheap so a smart move on their part. well i must say that this just may be some of the BEST sushi i have ever had and i have alot of different kinds. i was looking for a good place as well as something in my area at reasonable prices and this place looked like it fit the bill. i noticed it had some really great remarks so i stopped in to give it a try. i was immediately greeted at the door and i placed an order to go. i decided to get the dragon roll for $8.95. i mentioned i heard about the place on yelp and the woman was glad it was my first time and she wanted me to try the crunchy roll as well on the house. no need to twist my arm! for a monday the place was pretty busy so i sat up front and waited and was offered soup and a beverage while i waited but told them i was fine. in about 10 minutes i had my order and was out the door and headed home for just over $10. when i got home i just dove right in and right away i was blown away by the taste of the dragon roll. it was so full of shrimp tempura, crab avocado, cucumber and topped with eel and tobiko. it was so full of flavor i just couldn't get enough and i was loving this choice. i then tried the crunchy roll with crab, eel and avocado and topped with a tempura crunch. ok this one was now my favorite! it was so delightful. i kept going back and forth between the two and just when i thought i liked one more than the other i was so wrong. these two selections were definitely some of the best i have ever had. they are truly amazing! i'm so glad i found this place and next time i have the craving for sushi i'm headed back here for sure. i have found my new favorite place for sushi with awesome food, great prices, a wonderful staff and of course freebies!

Definitely given up on the daily fresh fish board. The bluefin toro was not even chu-toro ( medium fatty and still cheaper than more expensive o-Toro). In fact, it was so close to non belly portion of tuna that could be called regular tuna...did pay 16.95 for 2pc nigiri. Way expensive and not worth it. Only thing here now that is tasty and worth it, is standard menu...salmon, scallops, hamachi. Which makes this place more boring. Rolls are inedible. If your looking for cooked food then the combo sets are worth a trip. Otherwise I'd go elsewhere.

Try the Bull Roll. Its no joke!! I cant even recall what filled this delightfully large roll.... let me see if I can remember..... Tempura Shrimp, crabmeat, cucumber and avacado roll topped with seared beef, special hot sauce (I'd say it was like if you were to mate tangy BBQ sauce with Tapatillo), carmelized onions and chopped green onions. Would have ordered more if I wasn't so stuffed. E Sushi is so yummy!

Service is 5 stars, but I am still burping up the food three hours later. Knock it down to 2 stars. The rolls didn't seem fresh -- as the fish wasn't cold, it was soft and mushy. The texture just wasn't right. Now, with the fish taste in my mouth, pretty sure something wasn't right. They don't take AmEx either.

E Sushi, where have you been my whole life???? I was looking for a new sushi spot and I found it!! It didn't take long to figure out what the E stood for, and that's ELVIS baby!! From the sushi chef's hair, to the memorabilia, to the music. Nothing better than eating a spider roll and rockin out to "suspicious minds". The bill was a little pricey, $104 for 2 dragon rolls, 2 spider rolls, 2 spicy tuna handrolls, tuna sashimi, 2 orders of shrimp tempura, 1 order of vegetable tempura, 1 chicken teriyaki meal, 4 miso, and 5 sodas, but worth every penny, but actually, we did order alot so it was about average with most other Japanese restaurants. What really sealed the deal for me was the hospitality, the waitress was wonderful, very attentive, other staff members helped her, she seemed to really care. I didn't feel rushed, I enjoyed my evening there, and I cannot wait to go back.... I can't help falling in love with....E SUSHI (ELVIS VOICE)

I've eaten here a couple of times (at lunch) and it's fresh - not spectacular - not bad. We've ordered food from the lunch special as well as the specialty sushi menu. I'd say it's good for the lunch specials but the specialty sushi is a bit overpriced for what is offered. This is a good place to go if you have friends that don't eat sushi as there are several other offerings on both the regular and board menus. The teriyaki is good, the soup is good, the sashimi is just okay but it is fresh, and it's nice to get a few edame to snack on while waiting. They could save some money by not putting more dressing on the salad than there is salad! My friend got the gyoza and it was cooked properly, not greasy at all which is a problem at some restaurants. OT Rant: Note to the couple of with the two younger girls at lunch yesterday - what's up with you letting your kids throw things, scream at the top of their lungs, hit each other, for 30 minutes nonstop (not to mention the mother figure and one kid leaving a holy mess in the bathroom). You know who you are - sitting by the door! I know this has nothing to do with the review but I had to just say it - I thought we were on an episode of "What would you do" but alas, John Quiones never showed up to stop the torture. I do have to say that no restaurant personnel tried to do anything to get it under control. Lest you think I exaggerate, even across the roomfrom them you couldn't hear anything but them - they drowned out the music, conversations between people one foot apart, etc. Yo - Chuckie Cheese is right down the street :)

Nothing but great experiences here. Whether it's a call-in order or sit-down, they will follow through. Tanaka makes amazing rolls, and every single one is delicious. He started making myself and my girlfriend a special Deep Fried Lobster roll that is absolutely amazing. The staff is friendly and keep my friends and I coming back over and over. HIGHLY reccomended!

Good: I brought my parents and sister here and they loved the place. They loved everything about it. The sushi itself is done well. It's some of the other dishes that probably could use some adjustment. Bad: They put way way too much sauce on everything, including their salad. And any cooked sushi dish is going to be covered in mayonnaise. Their portions are generous, but since everything is doused in sauce, it's kind of not worth taking home. The teriyaki is covered in a lot of sauce. I mentioned this to them and they said that most clientele are caucasian so they like a lot of sauce. Ordering by phone - not very easy. Was put on hold for a long long time. Eating in - a little too intrusive into our toddler's looks - "she's REALLY big, "Is it a boy or a girl?" - just what do you mean by that?

This place is still so good. And so Elvis-themed. 49ers: yum (-1 star for no lemon) Dragon: yum Poke: yum Alaska: yum All so delicious and generous portions. Large hunks of raw onion on top of 3/4 of the rolls we got... odd.

Not only is the FOOD excellent and plentiful, the service is top notch! You are greeted as you enter the door by everyone on the floor, and they are always quick to fill up your glass or teacup while you're eating. There is a 3 item combo dinner special for $16 that provides so much food you have to get a to-go box! a great selection to choose from too, Beef or Salmon teriyaki, Chicken Katsu, fried oysters, gyoza, tempura, California roll, all come with rice, miso, salad and fruit. They have a 2 item lunch combo for less. Fantastic selection of rolls, nigiri, sashimi and a lot of other dishes you don't find on the menu everywhere. One of our favorites is a crispy crab roll- crab, avocado and cucumber, dipped in tempura batter, quick fried, sliced and served with a fantastic tangy sauce for $5!! And if you like soft-shell crab, try the spider roll Mmmmmmmm Been going here for 4 years now and never been disappointed- open for lunch and dinner (closed 3-5) and closed on Sundays. Don't miss this place! I won't spoil the surprise about what the "E" is all about, but you'll figure it out =) Follow on twitter twitter.com/kingtanaka and you get a free special when you spend over $25.

I am and will always be a fan of Tanaka and his wife as well as his ever changing staff. I love this place have been going here since they opened. His rolls are always high quality and big and if you sit at the bar tanaka always is there to chat and make you laugh. I am a local and come here for lunch all the time and sometimes dinner. I get either the bay scallop roll or lion king roll with a pair of tobiko and seaweed salad. Will be comming back time and time again.

Looks are not deceiving. Strip mall. Crowded parking lot filled with people coming and going to neighbor restaurants... E-sushi is literally a hop skip and a jump away from my humble abode which makes for a quick bite with no travelling required. I took my kids here on a date night with just us and we were seated right away. The decor was very Japanese gaudy, complete with fake flowers all around and beaded curtains leading to the bathrooms. A little outdated for my taste, but curious nonetheless. We sat down on the bench seating next to the walls in the back. OK, for starters if you love the comfort of a good seat, do not sit on the wall side. The bench was super hard and hard to get comfortable in. The pillows were just resting on the backside of the bench (which seemed more like a catholic church pew according to how hard it was.) The server came by and took our drink order ( don't get your hopes set high peeps with kids--they don't have shirley temples. boo) But they did have Ramune sodas which in my opinion, is appreciated by kids of all ages. The sushi was EH. Fake crab, lots of rice in the rolls, not high grade slices of fish if you ask me. Alaskan roll could have used a bit more flavor and sauce but the Elvis was so good I almost couldn't finish it. Service was hasty (as the crowd seemed to pick up speed for dinner, so did our waitress. make sure to get what you need out on her first visit to you table.) With so many other sushi joints in the Tri-Valley, I would definitely come here if I'm on a last minute jaunt.

I'll start off by admitting I am no sushi connoiseur. For me, sushi is kinda like wine - I may not know all the fancy details and techniques that differentiate between good and excellent sushi, but I do know if it sucks or if it doesn't. And this place, my friends, sucks! First off, the rolls are HUGE! And I don't say that in a good way. As stated earlier, I'm not a sushi snob (obviously...I mean I just shared with you that I ordered a roll), so I'm not going to complain about the fact that sushi should be able to be eaten in one bite. And I've been to Joy Sushi in San Mateo with their big rice-laden rolls and still enjoyed them. But these were gigantic. And not pretty. Everything just looked stuffed in there awkwardly. It required three bites to finish just one piece. One piece! Bite one gets you a huge ball of sticky rice and seaweed; bite two gets you some of whatever you had inside; bite two gets you the rest of rice cake. And then the fish! Like someone else mentioned, the place kinda smelled weird to begin with. The salmon I had smelled pretty strong when I got it...and my salmon breath still smells ridiculously strong an hour after eating it! The smell is not the smell of fresh fish...but of something "off." I stopped eating after three pieces because I was afraid if I ate any more, I'd be on the floor of the corner bathroom stall before my office day was over. To be fair, I really, really liked their salad dressing. I'd give that bit of sesame sweetness five yummy stars! I've had great, good, and okay sushi...but never bad....until now! Maybe I'll come back here for their korean food...it looks like they might be better at that!

What a pleasant surprise!!! As a transplant from the Peninsula I was spoiled by all the good Japanese restaurants there and have been looking for a good restaurant here in Dublin that not only does traditional sashimi, California sushi ("the rolls"), but also has unique things on the menu coming out of the back kitchen like: a good hot and flavorful bowl of ramen, fresh oysters, hamachi kama, agedashi tofu, daily menu specials, etc. I've now dined here for lunch and dinner at least six times and really like what the chef (Elvis) is doing. I appreciate his sense of humor and palate...and listening to Elvis while digesting my meal. The staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable of the large menu as well. There are also some Korean dishes on the menu too. E-Sushi has now become my favorite stopping place to fill my craving for good Japanese food. Looking forward to many future visits!

Nice, casual alternative to Amakara. The seafood is almost as fresh, except when the salmon is stringy/chewy. Salmon?! That should be the easiest to get fresh! Caught a stem of an avocado in my handroll once, but other than that, the entrees are above average, the service is (mostly) quick vs. Amakara on a busy night and the prices are OK. Sushi chef dresses like Elvis. Fun. The rolls and handrolls can get sloppy. Sometimes you'll get a bite of wasabi that you're not expecting because the chef handles all the ingredients and doesn't wipe his hands. Boo.

This is such a terrible dining experience, all rolls had the same sweet brown sauce that practically blocked your taste buds from the umami of the fish, which probably didn't have it in the first place. The rolls were so loosely rolled that they just fell apart between the tips of the chopsticks...and worst of all, the unagi don was just horrible...I think they were just trying to cut cost and about 5 thin slices of unagi were trying very hard to look like they can cover the rice underneath, and with the help of a few pieces of nori...it is just a very pathetic looking unagi don. Urrgg...i have to say that the waitress was actually quite good, so the only star is for her, and not the food. This is just a waste of money.

One bad experience ruins a restaurant, dang! I've been a regular at E Sushi since they opened and have always had great service and delicious food...especially love the butterfish. My kids love the ramen and friends are always surprised at what great sushi we have here in the 'burbs. And like everyone else, the free edamame and miso are a bonus. But... Last night I ordered a delicious poki roll and an even better spicy tuna roll, some assorted nigiri and the hirame was BAD. Spolied. Fishy and slimy. This was the first dish I have ever sent back to this restaurant, ever. In fact I can't remember the last time I sent any dish back, anywhere. But instead of simply replacing the dish, the chef's response was that the fish was fresh, too bad. He refused to take the charge off our bill. We've been great customers introducing many friends and family to this cool spot but any restaurant worth going to would have happily replaced the dish with an apology. Yeah, every restaurant can have a bad night and I can certainly overlook some slow service, cold food served warm or hot food served cold...but spoiled fish is just wrong. And if I can't trust the chef to have some respect for my experience, I don't need to spend my money there. Bummer, but I won't be back.

I can get enough of this place! The owners are fantastic, the servers are fantastic and the food is to die for! I go often, maybe once every two weeks, with my boyfriend. We normally order around $21 worth of food but it's just enough. With every order you get free soy beans and miso soup. Try the Lion king roll if you like warm sushi and salmon. I HIGHLY reccomend this restaurant to any sushi lover. Also, E=Elvis, Tanaka is a great elivs lover. Go to E-sushi!

Not impressed with the service at all. 7 of us went today for lunch and I think maybe only one or two other tables were already seated before us, they weren't busy. So we all place our orders, 5 people got bento boxes and the last 2 get just rolls. How is it new patrons came in, were seated, ate and left before we got any of our food? We had to ask about our food and were then told that they were going to bring it all together, so ok we get it. WELLLLL the 5 bento boxes come out (cooked food mind you) and our raw rolls don't come =/ So I say "um 49er roll with lemon on top" he goes and checks and then tells me it has to be made, WTF. The other lady that ordered the rolls got hers a few minutes later and then after they made my roll I got it. Bottom line, the fish was fresh and the rolls were average but SERVICE SUCKS!!!

Ami sushi was closed Saturday lunch, so I came here. It was pretty good. The Lion King roll was tasty. It's a really cute restaurant and the staff is really pleasant to be around. I would still rather go to Ami sushi though.

Ever since I moved to dublin Esushi has been our go to place. Never had a bad meal, never had bad service, never been disappointed. They have even accommodated my husband's food allergies. Our favorites are the Crispy Crab (for $4.95 amazing!) and the Phoenix. My 11-year old loves the chicken teriyaki.

They have some really amazing rolls! I love the spicy crispy crab roll, and they have a huge selection. All of the fish is pretty fresh too. I also like how they have pictures of everything so you know what you'll get. The Elvis sushi guy is pretty great too, so very fast with making the rolls. I say that you must try this place, its really good!

One of my FAVORITE sushi places! The space is small but the Elvis decor and music make up for it! Whether I come with a group for sake bombs or just with my boyfriend I am always happy with this place. The Tanaka roll is always my go to, but I have not met a roll I don't like from this place! Plus, typically I judge more off service than I do on food but this place has stellar service! Our normal waitress (can't remember her name, oops!) always greets us quickly, has jokes, and gives us ideas on what to try next. She even has a fork ready for my not so sushi friendly boyfriend! Highly recommend this little spot!

We came here for the first time on a Saturday during their lunch hour. We started off with just one of their sushi rolls... this way, if we didn't like it, we would not order any more. So, we ordered a fried spicy crab roll for 4.95. It was really good. So, then we took a chance and ordered one more- spicy lion king roll. Although the presentation wasn't there, it tasted pretty good... too spicy for the husband and the daughter, but I liked it. So, if you're not into spicy, tell them to ease off on the sauce. The lion king roll was 9.95. We decided to order a bento box too- 2 items for 8.95. I think we picked the wrong entrees, as we did not like either one. We chose tempura and chicken karage. Both had batters that were tasteless and way too thick. I heard Itto Sushi in San Ramon and Kane in Danville have the perfect tempura... delicate and flaky. Because we mentioned we were Yelp readers and we spent $25, we got a free sushi roll. I don't recall what it was... it was not very memorable. I think if we came back, I would stick to their sushi rolls. Their menu has colored photos, and that was a big plus. And their sushi DID resemble their photos!

The food was great but the service was terribly slow. The servers themselves were very nice and quick at getting our food to us but they must have decided to make half our order separate from the other half so basically my wife had to watch me eat. I tried waiting but by the time my food hat sat there 20 minutes my wife told me I should just eat. I really would love to give a better review but I just can't the food I had was great but we waited more than 30 min for my wife's rolls. I really would like to give a better review because the staff were great and the food was good too but the wait for our food was so excessive I can't give more than two stars.

Not for the weak stomach. I wish I can tell you what I ordered but I sort of blacked out once my stomach started hurting after two pieces of the roll I ordered. I really like sushi and have never had a bad experience until now. I was not too impressed with the service to begin with. IN the middle of our order the waitress just left our table to sit some other people down. Then the soup came. It tasted fine but after I had it my stomach started to hurt. Next came my roll. I ordered something with shrimp and tuna. I ate two pieces and almost immediately felt sick. You know it is bad when your friends are asking you whats wrong. The fish had a very strong smell and it wouldn't be the last time i smelled it. I was able to force my self to sit through the meal. I made it across the street where all I had was lost. Thats right all my esushi came up and out. Sorry to the tree I puked on, I don't wish that kind of feeling or smell on anyone. I was not able to eat or drink anything until the next day. So after that experience I say eat at your own risk and sorry to say I will not go back.

My GF introduced me to this place. She knew the owner when he was located in Berkeley. The rolls are huge and tasty. The salad dressing is really good, and I love the Godzilla roll. The service is great, but when it gets busy be patient as they only have a few people. The owner is really really pleasant, and he is fun to talk to if you eat at the bar. I've had birthday dinners here, lunch with coworkers (4 to 10 people), and random gatherings. Each time, the sushi was 100% better than Yoshi's. Wait... every sushi place is better than Yoshi's. Let me try again. Each time I've come here, the sushi is just as yummy as the first time. Quality. Quantity. Excellent price range. PARKING. Friendly pleasant people. What more can you ask for?

Went here last night with a group of girls. The sushi is always good so I have no complains there. What I don't get is that we ordered individually, but everything came on the same plate. It was annoying that we all had to reach over each other. Another problem is the waiter. It doesn't matter if I go in with my family, with my girls or with my girls and our kids he is always there and always... well I don't want to say rude, but certainly not welcoming. Maybe he needs to go on vacation. ;-) I'm to the point that I want to pick my order up and go home.

I really wanted to like this place, unfortunately neither my boyfriend and I were impressed. I came here on my lunch break today since I was craving soup. After reading the reviews on here I decided to go with the Nabe Udon. We also split a sushi roll but I forgot the name. The sushi itself was pretty good but it was the udon that I'm complaining about. Maybe I've never had authentic udon before, but both my boyfriend and I ordered the Nabe Udon and we weren't impressed. First off they got our order wrong and came out with some sort of fish bento box, so we politely told them what we had ordered and overall they were polite about the whole ordeal which was cool, but the overall service just took way too long. After 45 minutes or so we finally got our udon and it looked cool, being served in these hot clay pots and a weird wooden ladel to sip the broth. Unfortunately when I took a sip of the broth I was weirded out, what the heck it tastes sweet?!? Maybe I'm just used to a saltier based broth but I wasn't impressed as I really wanted to like it. Then towards the end of the meal my boyfriend starts feeling sick like he needs to yack, so he didn't even finish his udon. Since he seems to process his food a lot quicker than me, now I'm all worried I'm going to get sick too. So our quick bite to eat pushed us way over my lunch break, which I wasn't thrilled about, that and me now having to deal with a sick boyfriend when I get home tonight is not leaving me in a good mood just about now! One extra star because the sushi was tasty.

My new favorite sushi bar! I've been reluctant to eat here because it doesn't look like much from the outside. Basically, i judged a book by its cover. After eating here a few times, i've realized that it is fresh, good prices and consistent. Tanaka and I are now good friends. He is the owner and the only sushi chef. I asked him why he doesn't have any help and he says he doesn't trust anyone else. He takes a lot of pride in what he does and doesn't want anyone to ruin it for him. This place is awesome, every roll i've had has been amazing and if you're stuck on what to order, just ask Tanaka for a suggestion. He always gets the best fish and rare cuts that you might not find at other sushi bars.

OK, I admit when I'm wrong..........I previously wrote a review that wasn't so favorable for several reasons - just simple preference things. While the sushi is always good tasting, I do not like wasabi and no matter how many times I asked, I couldn't get them to leave off that dot of it they put between the rice and fish. Plus, they would always try to get us to buy the "special imported" sushi fish although we tasted no difference between that and the regular, cheaper kind. Well...one of our group really likes this place so I have continued to go there. But since that last review they have always gotten my order correct - no wasabi. Plus, I found 2 rolls I absolutely LOVE. We were getting ready to go to the restaurant and I looked on their reviews and saw 2 rolls mentioned quite a few times - The Phoenix roll and the Crispy Crab. I tried them that night and now I get cravings for these. They were so good I could eat them every night. Now, I look forward to going here and I would definitely recommmend the sushi and these rolls to anyone looking for good and fresh food.

Sushi real fresh and authentic. I had the Hamachi Delight roll and the wife had the Bay Scallop roll, and we both really enjoyed them. Mochi ice cream for desert was real tasty. Ambiance and setting of place could do better, but if you don't care about that and only care about good food then this is the place for you.

My friend and I came here for lunch yesterday. She ordered vegetable tempura and some rolls with just avocado and cream cheese. I ordered the dragon roll and the green mussels appetizers. The waitress brought over miso soup and edamame to munch on while we waited. The wait wasn't long since we were the first ones there. I tried the tempura and it seemed very floury. The dragon roll looked liked it was squished to death. I've had better dragon rolls. However, the mussels were to die for. I love the sauce and it had the right amount of hotness. Next time I go there I'm just getting the mussels and rice to soak up the sauce... and that is the only reason it's getting 4 stars...

This place is really authentic when it comes to their food expecting to find more of what Japanese is all about and not just sushi a great variety of ramen to choose from and nice quantity of servings for the price! came late before closing but the place has such great hospitality to still let me in and eat for dinner! nice staff and great service! would highly recommend this place for any sushi lover!

Love this little quite sushi place. The staff are very nice especially the owner. Went there on our date night and we were almost the minority in there as far as customers goes and the staff treated us nicely...always coming to check up on us. The owner although was doing the cooking or was the cook was always looking our way to ensure we were taken care of. I really liked that because we are in Dublin its mostly white people here and mostly when you go into a Asian restaurants they cater to white people more than their own. In this case it was opposite that was nice to know! Okay on to the good stuff-SUSHI! OMG! I love everything there....though it didn't come fast enough because I was hungry it was delicious!

We've been coming here for years and the quality of the fish is excellent. "Elvis", the owner and sushi chef is not in this to make a quick buck, he ran a big restaurant, had a big car and decided it wasn't for him. Nothing fake here: he buys the freshest fish, clearly has the skills most other sushi "chefs" didn't bother acquiring (just watch him slice up a salmon and endlessly clean up his work area), serves generous portions and enjoys pleasing others (that the "religion" thing, I guess). And yes, he does really like Elvis. We've been many times to Japan, fancy San Francisco sushi restaurants and Elvis's quality is right up there. There again, we don't order cream cheese and other funky rolls -- nigiri or sashimi only. Shame on those that give the guy 1 or 2 stars because he was late opening (hello, the world doesn't revolve around you!), because Monday wasn't his best day (What do you think, the fish industry must work weekends when you don't?), because you don't like the sauce on your cream cheese rolls (hello, aren't you here for the fish?) or the brown sauce (how hard is it to talk to the chef -- I think he's right here behind that counter). Come on a Friday for lunch or dinner, order nigiri, sashimi or a chirashi bowl, talk to Elvis, ask him for recommendations, take your time and enjoy. It won't break your bank, but it may require to be you know, social. Given that Dublin is nothing but endless chain food, bravo to Elvis for keeping at it for all these years.

This place is ok. Not exceptional or terrible. I've ordered their sushi, udon, and ramen. Their sushi is pretty good but on the pricey side compared to other sushi places. Their nabe udon is also pretty good. I enjoyed their broth. Now about their ramen... I was excited to see that they had added ramen to their menu, especially after Nakayama stopped serving ramen. My initial choice was to go with the tonkatsu ramen, but the waiter recommended the kimchi ramen, so I took his advice and ordered that. Now, perhaps that day was a bad day for them, but I was utterly disappointed. The broth was so salty that I could only manage to eat half. I would like to say that I'd give them another chance, but I am simply too scared. Instead of offering the meal for free, they asked if I wanted something else for free but at that point I wasn't hungry and had no appetite to eat anything else. To sum it all up, eat the sushi and udon here but think twice about trying their ramen.

I was hoping for an average experience when I arrived but this was one of the WORST experiences I've ever had. It was friday night, busy and so we decided to sit at the sushi bar. I figured we'd order a few rolls and be in and out of there in about an hour. So wrong. Here are a few things that went horribly wrong: 1. Waitress had the worst breath ever and spoke to me about 2 inches from my face. I'm big on personal space but even more so if you are breathing all over me. 2. Ordered our rolls. 30 minutes later, the same waitress comes to tell us that the sushi bar is backed up. Asks us if we want to order anything else since it might be awhile. We ask her how long and she replies 5 minutes. Why on earth would we order something else, is it going to get there in the next 5 minutes??? We said we'd wait. It was NOT 5 minutes. 3. about 45-50 minutes after we ordered, the food comes out. Spider roll has NO tobiko (fish eggs) on it. The menu says it does, the waitress ASKED us if we wanted it on the roll and we said YES. We flag the waitress down and she proceeds to tell us that the fish eggs are smeared inside the roll somewhere inside the rice. Again, FALSE. We actually pulled the roll apart, thinking maybe we were crazy and just didn't see it. We flag her down AGAIN, and she tells us, okay then, do you just want a side of tobiko? WTH. We just asked her to make us another roll the way we ordered it and the way it's described on their menu. At this point, it's been an HOUR since we ordered, so we are hungry, tired of waiting and frustrated that the waitress is lying. What does she do? Comes back with a side of tobiko. I have NEVER walked out of a restaurant. EVER. We walked out of this restaurant without eating. We will never come back to this place again. Horrible service, from what I could see looked like mediocre food. Not worth the time or money in my book. On a side note, the sushi chef seemed pretty nice and decent but there was no coming back from this experience.

Elvis and Sushi, great combo!!! 2nd time there, we ordered super CA roll, 49er roll, gyoza, combo-F (unagi don, tempura udon), and sake hand roll... Overall was good, service and price were good too... I felt their sushi/sashimi quality did not match with some highest that I had experienced i.e. at SOZO Sushi in Pleasanton...

I love E Sushi! It's affordable and you can always get a table. Also who couldn't love all that Elvis memorabilia around the restaurant? Can you say classy? It has many different rolls and a lot of ther Japanese favorites like curry, ramen, sukiyaki, they even have some korean dishes (not super authentic, but good).

Well, I read the other reviews and in hopes that my first experience was a fluke, I sadly returned. Maybe I just catch them at a time when no one with a personality (at least good one) is working, and the fish is on it's last leg - or just growing one... My first experience was shortly after they opened, the sister and I decided to check out the new place in the neighborhood. We were greeted, seated, ordered drinks, and didn't hear a damn thing from them for 15-20 minutes. Then the waitress says that they just stopped serving lunch - really, you couldn't bother telling us prior to looking over the menu and ordering beverages? Time has passed, so the same sister and I are ready to give them another chance. Rather than going to Shangri La, which she first suggested - great saffron plate, but weren't sure of their hours - so I suggest sushi. Sushi Q being closed now for some time, we head over to E Sushi. Place an order to go so we can eat while watching a movie - Maybe that's the problem - stash the waste in to go orders. Regardless, they mixed up our sushi rather than using separate boxes after we had established which were for her vs. mine. Not a huge deal, but one of us likes sauce, and the other prefers none - still not the end of the world. However 2 (no I'm not embellishing) 2 packets of soy sauce for all of our rolls - really?? The rolls themselves were slopped together - I live around the corner and she sat with them on her lap - then we notice the fish which is crumbling and seems to have a gelatinous matter exuding from it. - $44 of sushi and not to mention the tip they couldn't wait to take off the table in a rather tacky manner far before we were given our.... I loathe using the word food to describe it. I PRAY that this isn't reflective of their everyday, and given others so readily singing their praises. As far as I'm concerned though, Screw me once shame on you, screw me twice shame on me - There wont be a Third Opportunity.

The stand out for them is the selection of oyster, baby octopus, monk fish liver, mussels, soft shell crab. Korean and curry dishes as well. For the sushi and bento parts of the menu, your usual bay area sushi bar with all of the usual things. Stay with the Bento and generic sushi if you like that kind of stuff, otherwise venture into the more ethnic foods for the better options. More Asian cafe style. Yes, very friendly staff and attentive service. Lunch, dinner. Party trays as well...

We eat around Dublin a lot but it was only yesterday we tried E Sushi! We tired this place due to respect to the better 4-5 star reviews and it was a total disappointment. We occupied the first table around noon and the waiter gave us a lunch lunch, dinner, and sushi roll menus. The waiter was courteous for the most part but it didn't seem like he was experienced. He came to the table 3 times before we were ready to order, only that when my hubby ordered the lunch specials, he was told the day was considered a holiday (Mother's Day) so they don't have the lunch specials. I kindly asked him to give us a couple minutes, and we ordered 4 rolls (Tanako, Dragon, Lion King, Hamachi). The rolls were borderline acceptable but they were absolutely not better tasting than their two local competitors. Pros: on the house miso soup and ice cream mochi. The restaurant filled up after we came in and people were happy to be there (bec it was mother's day?). My family really doesn't care for this place and we will not be returning as we know there are better places nearby.

A firend recommended this place to me and I thought I would give it a try. Service was bad as they didn't have enough staff and I was expecting a lot from both the service and the sushi. My test for sushi places is to use the hamachi as a benchmark. The strange thing is that they have two types. Regular and premium (something like that). I just got the standard hamachi nigiri and I was shocked at how big the sushi was. This would be a good thing, but when I bit into it the sushi was rubbery and not too tasty. The best part of Hamachi is that it is buttery and almost melts in your mouth. I found it very difficult to take this down and the large size made it even more difficult. I still haven't found a sushi place I really love in the Tri-Valley. I have to go further west for my sushi, which is a pain. The people seem nice, but fresh fish and service could make me a regular there.

I didn't have much expectations when we randomly stumbled upon this place as its located in a strip mall. However, upon entering I was pleasantly suprised by the clean and soothing ambiance. I ordered the udon soup which was a little disappointing. My friends had sashimi however and that was pretty tasty. Service was a bit lacking though. But the prices are resonable. I'm going to give it another try though (this time from the sushi menu) and re-review. There are so many good reviews here I'm thinking I must have visited on an off day or something. To be continued...

I really like this place. Granted I have not eaten any of the RAW variety of sushi since I'm pregnant, I do enjoy all of the food that we've had here so far. The service is friendly and fast and they always make great suggestions if you are not sure what to order. I would never typically order teriyaki or udon or anything, but since I am pregnant, I had to. I have to say the food is pretty good, and since our family and friends have come here very often in the last 6 months, we love it. This is now our "go-to sushi place" when we're in Dublin. Good service and good food. Not overpriced either. I'm sure we'll be back again next month. We are averaging coming here around 1-2 times a month or so either for a sit down lunch/dinner or take out.

We loved our dinner and our dining experience. My friend and I went for a cool mellow dinner and had the best time. There just happen to be a small party of singers that sang a beautiful tune amazing grace. I love the owner, he's so sweet. He just loves Elvis and has some memorabilia around the place. Not too much and not overbearing at all. He likes to mimick Elvis, "Thank you, Thank you very much". He's so sweet. The dinner plate, incl. Sashimi (extremely fresh), salad, Vegies, Lemon Chicken sauce is home made and on side, so good! My friend's was 5 pieces of different sushi, salad and vegie tempura. Large plates of food, miso soup, rice too.. and he kept offering to taste the butterfish, and seaweed salad. Yummi.. He has a great assortment of Sakis. Cold or hot. the small family atmosphere is perfect. The wait staff are kind and quiet. Little shy. All was great, and get this the price for the food, $15 bucks ea. wow. We had tea, no alcohol so it was food. But really great place. Fresh, sweet place. Good low key date place. Or family.

HORRIBLE. service was awful. the waitor was extremely rude. he was so upset/in a bad mood that her ripped the paper he was writing on when he was taking our order. frustrated for whatever reason he had us reorder our food and purposley took FOREVER to write the order. he never looked at us or was cordial. he took our order and walked away saying only 'ten minutes'. what?! when we got our food it was sloppily rolled, fell apart at the touch of chopsticks, and they just so happened to forget a few ingerdients in the rolls. cucumber avocado roll aparently equals cucumber, and you get charged for extra avocado. NEVER AGAIN

A group of our friends got together for dinner on Saturday night. Since our friend's had just relocated to Dublin, we weren't sure where we wanted to go, but knew we wanted sushi. We went to E Sushi willing to take a chance since it was right around the corner from our friends place. Turned out to be a really good time. The sushi was fresh, the rolls were yummy and the prices good too. They even made a special spicy roll for us and named it after my friend! We will definitely be coming back for more. It's going to take some time to try all their rolls.

I've been coming to this place for 5 years now a I love the atmosphere and the service is great. The food is terrific and you can't go wrong with the lunch box specials.

Tanaka and his wife do an excellent job of keeping the place clean, the prices reasonable and above all - the fish as fresh as the sea. The rest of the staff does a great job at serving you quickly and always smiling and giving you the best service. They are truly an amazing little sushi outfit and I won't even think of going anywhere but there. My husband ordered some ahi the last time we were there and although to us, it was perfect. Tanaka took the fish and put it behind him and brought out an entirely new fish. His reasoning: It didn't look fresh. I trust him and all of his fish and how he stays around for a long time!

The first time my boyfriend and I came here we fell in love with the food...We've been here 2x and have never been disappointed. This place was awesome!!! I highly recommend going here if you're in Dublin/Pleasanton near Stoneridge Mall or if you have nothing to do and don't care about the drive..definitely come here for sushi. The service was always wonderful. Our waiter was friendly and got everything to us really quick. Checked up to make sure we were ok and staffs very polite. On to the food... For appetizer, we've ordered Tempura and Gyoza. Both dishes were delicious! Gave you a lot for just being an appetizer. We've also ordered Eastern Roll, Crisply Roll, Dragon Roll, E Sushi Roll, Salmon Skin Roll, and Yakiniku Ramen. Their sushi was absolutely wonderful. They don't put too much rice, like some other Japanese Restaurants do, and put a lot of seafood. The seafood in their sushi definitely shines through....LOVED every bite of it! The E Sushi was great and different. The reason it's different is because it's wrapped in Rice paper instead of seaweed. Tasted great and had a lot of seafood but I think i like my sushi best with seaweed. The Salmon Skin Roll was delicious too. The best thing I liked about this roll is it wasn't oily like other Salmon Skin Rolls I've had. The Crispy Roll (California Roll Deep Fried) was the BEST Crispy Roll I've ever had!! The hot sauce they put on top of it mixed with their house special sauce definitely complemented the roll...it wasn't too hot and had a sweetness to it! Whatever their hot sauce and house sauce was...both were great! My boyfriend loved the Yakiniku Ramen. The noodles were perfectly cooked and they gave you a lot of meat...the broth had a smokey taste to it which really made the broth pop! I thought it had too much onions but my boyfriend LOVED IT. Both times we've been here, he ordered this Ramen and I honestly think he'll keep ordering that Ramen the next time we come back. Like I said, definitely come here if you're in the Dublin/Pleasanton area or if you don't mind the drive...The drive is definitely worth it.

Food is ok, prices are ok, but service sucks!! I would give no stars if i could. Plan on waiting.... A while.... Wait 20 minutes to simply be acknowledged and beverage order taken. Orders are delivered 15 minutes apart from others at your table. My 4 year old son received his order last. Good 25 minutes after I received my meal. You need to remind server of your orders as meal begins to arrive before soup and appetizers. Napkins and untensils need to be asked for not once but twice. When concerns were expressed to server.. Response was simply " we are busy" but half the restaurant was empty. In addition the service was so bad tables began to talk and we were not a isolated situation. Don't waste your time or money. Too many other restaurants in Dublin that do value your business

We ate here for a quick lunch a couple of weeks ago. The service was quick, and attentive. My husband and I ordered their Bento Box lunch and the menu items came hot and were delicious. The Tempura I had included egg plant, as well as the usual shrimp, sweet potato and zucchini. It was piping hot, and crispy. The beef teriyaki and tonkatsu were both fabulous. You get to hear Elvis songs, and you can watch the Sushi Chef with his Elvis hair. This is a really good Japanese restaurant. Clean bathroom, and very friendly service.

love this place!!!! I have my fave place in Santa Cruz, but near home.. I go to E-Sushi. My first visit was with my wonderful bff blair and SHE know sushi! I myself am a vegetarian and don't nibble on the fish, but oh man can their sushi man whip up some killer vegi rolls for me! It's is always the same dude and he is so sweet and friendly and can I say he looks like Japanese Elvis! Big Hair woo! Everyone that works there is super friendly and everything is always clean and fresh! If you like a little Saki they have a great selection as well.

I had lunch here last week and I was pleasantly surprised. The portions were good for the price and the service was excellent. The rolls were fine but it seems a little dry. I wouldn't mind giving E Sushi another try.

Best place for sushi hands down. Big rolls for cheap prices. Everything is delicious and the customer service is great. Tanaka is the man! It's the first place I go out to eat every time I go back home to California. Sushi doesn't compare elsewhere.

This place is awesome. The Sushi chef definitely cares about his work! He was fun to talk to as well. He recommended rolls according to what we already liked and they were delicious. Nice authentic atmosphere with friendly staff!

This place gives you a lot of food! It would have been better if the food tasted good. I ordered their chicken teriyaki bento box. The teriyaki sauce was so salty and the california rolls were tasteless. This place can't top Amakara down the street. The two stars are for their freindly customer service.

the only japanese restaurant in dublin that i frequent ever since my first visit a few months ago. fresh fish, yummy sushi and good cooked food too.they serve katsu curry which you don't see on menus in this area very often. friendly service. the sushi chef is like a japanese elvis (hairstyle and sorta how he talks too) and they are always playing elvis music in the background which definitely gives it unique character. they have lunch specials and bento combo boxes. also get fish from japan which makes for good sushi and sashimi. *takeout time* online menu: no, so grab a takeout menu on your way out. efficient phone orders (usually 10-15 mins.)

There are two kinds of sushi people if you ask me. The kind that eat sushi to be cool and be seen eating sushi and those who enjoy good quality sushi. I am the latter. I will gladly pay for good sushi. I would gladly pay for good sushi and good service. I do not have to pay much all of the above at E Sushi. Tanaka's (owner, sushi guy and proud Elvis hair) is a fine choice to ave prepare your sushi. His pieces of fish are fresh, well cut and generous in size. His rolls are well put together, not overly sauced, fresh and delicious. His suggestions are always right on the mark. Thy the super white tuna (butterfish). The sukiyaki is good. My mom loves the massive tempura plate (I enjoyed what she couldn't eat). His staff is freindly and they are on the ball. Their prices are right! When I think sushi, this is the place. If you want a trendy, over priced, fancy and hip place with sushi fusion and cosmos and sake served in snifters with candied fruits, this isn't your place. If you want freindly service, a quaint neghborhood place, fresh ingredients and a very satisfying sushi experience, then try E Sushi. Tanaka has a whole lotta' shakin' going on and he is quick with a "Thank you, ma'am."

I've gone to this place 3 times over the past week. A bit obsessive, I know. It was nice to have such a large variety of sushi rolls. Yesterday, I had the katsu donburi. I thought it was going to be swimming in sauce, but it had the perfect balance of egg, meat, and house sauce. The meat could have been a bit softer. The only think that irked me was my 2nd visit. I ordered the tempura hand roll, which costs $3.95, but they were trying to charge me $6.95. I pointed to the price in their menu, and I was confused with their reaction. I felt as though they truly believed I should have still been charged $6.95.

Tries this place out recently, the prices are great, the service was better than I expected, and the food tasted great. I wish the dishes looked a liitle better like the creative ways I've seen sushi plated at other sushi bars I frequent. Probably my only issue with this place. My date's sushi and mine looked almost identical. Still worth a trip.

E-Sushi is by far the best sushi place in the tri-valley. Excellent service and clean environment. Tanaka is the guy who owns the place and they actually make real japanese food, not like Senro in Pleasanton. Prices are good and the food is outstanding. Try the tuna sashimi with the bento box. You will need a doggy bag because theres so much food for the dinners. Lunch is affordable and tasty. I dig this place.

The chef is Japanese so it's more authentic than your normal Japanese place in the bay area which is usually owned by Chinese or Korean folks. Nothing against Chinese or Korean ownership as I've been to many good non-Japanese-owned Japanese restaurants but it's nice to go to a place where the chef is not faking a Japanese accent. The fish at E is definitely fresh but I would say stick with the normal non-promotional fish items. The waitress definitely up sold me on the "Scottish salmon" which I thought tasted good but no different than regular salmon. It was 2x the price of regular salmon so I felt stupid ordering that. Another menu item that I thought was overpriced was the Hamachi Karma for $10. When it showed up, it was just a small piece of karma that really just looked like scrap. Luckily, I was sitting at the sushi bar and the chef/owner saw how minuscule it was and added some seaweed salad and cold cucumber to round out the dish. I will definitely not order that again. Everything else was good and price was about what you would expect for the area. I will definitely come back but stick with the menu items next time.

The "E" is almost invisible!...so don't miss it or just look for SUSHI!!!!! 3 Reasons to go to: -Spicy Tuna Hand Rolls--I eat these like Snickers bars. (and yes, they satisfy) -Kim Chi Ramen--Enough for two people. -Dancing Queen..Cherries lots of cherries! This isn't on the menu (not sure why) but ask them about it.... This place is great....never too busy, but never empty. So it's great for lunch during work. The service is friendly. I do have to mention that they're more on top of their game at night though...maybe I'm hungrier at that time...

They have great service! they greet you as you walk in and are very helpful. Definitely a friendly atmosphere here. I tried their sushi and it was good. They also have good miso soup, very chunky. The fish was so tender, it felt like it melted in your mouth. I have had better sushi however. They flavor is what really gets me, but theirs was very plain to my likeness. I will be back though.

Dublin, huh? I'm awful glad I don't live here, but if I had to, at least I know where I could get some kick ass sushi whenever I wanted it. Sushi chef Tanaka is a character--very friendly and more than happy to belt out some Elvis if you ask nicely. The sushi is fresh, the rolls are delicious, and the waitstaff is accomodating of even the most obnoxious large group (of which I happened to be a memember, though if i do say so myself, slightly less obnoxious than some, although probably more obnoxious than others). E Sushi is a solidly good sushi shop, with some great maki selections you won't see anywhere else.

Sodium overload. I ordered an Omega roll that came soaking in soy sauce. So much so that the roll fell apart on me with chopsticks. The tuna salad again came literally soaked in soy sauce. Horrible waste of otherwise fresh sashimi.

As our Business is across the street, I frequent this place as well as most all the restaurants on our block. I have never experienced any of the problems listed in some of the more negative reviews. They have always had great service and excellent lunch specials at reasonable prices for a sushi restaurant, in my opinion. Matter of fact writing this review today has made me hungry for one of there sashimi lunch boxes, so off I go..

I have been to most of the sushi places in the tri-valley, San Jose, and Sacramento areas. E sushi is by far the best sushi place I have been to. Service is always great and restaurant is always clean. Tanaka (the chef) likes Elvis a lot and looks like him too. So you get some interesting Elvis decor to look at. The food is always fresh and amazing. And if it ever is not (my dad is super picky) tanaka will fix it right away. The first time my dad and I went one of his pieces of tuna had some fat thy had not been completely trimmed off. He showed it to tanaka and was given a whole new plate of tuna sashimi right then. And I got to eat the 'bad' tuna. =]

This place is my favorite local spot to get excellent sushi! The fish is always fresh and the sushi rolls are creative. Every dish is a piece of art! The restaurant is clean and the servers are very attentive. We love how they always remember us and greet us like old friends. The chef is a huge Elvis fan and the customers bring him Elvis memorabilia!

I would consistently choose another Sushi place in Dublin/Pleasanton over this. The food is so-so. The rolls took a bit too long to come. The set meals came really quickly, and then our rolls came 15 minutes later. The quality of the rolls is sub-par: hastily done, not well packed, and too much rice. They didn't communicate "value" or "great tasting" or "well-made".

For me the food and service was not great. We went with a group of 8 ladies. The waiter seemed irritated that we were even there...not a good start. I ordered the tempura and it was oily and the potatoes were not fully cooked. The prawns were not very tasty either. I've had much better tempura elsewhere. We were promised a check split in two groups, which was not done. It took forever once we got our check to get change etc. I don't think I'd return.

I like the chef, he always make his hair like Elves, the store only playing Elves music, and some Elves dolls on Sushi counter. They serve food so fast and fresh, I like Sashimi the most, so fresh so juicy.....of course the price is very economic too!

The last couple of times I went in, E Sushi was offering the rare bluefin tuna. I little pricey, but it guess price is all driven by supply and demand. They offered the bluefin tuna as a sashimi or in a roll. I ordered the sashimi dish both times - wanted to experience the true taste. It was SUPER yummy! The tuna melted in my mouth! It's definitely a treat, but well worth it!

I was craving for sushi down in the Dublin area and stumbled onto this place from my GPS. I was reluctant at first because of the name "e-sushi"....made me think I was eating at the internet bar but they have really good sushi. The place gets pack during dinner time so it's best to come early to get a seat and a parking space. The menu has your normal choices of Japanese Food. All in all...love this place! If it's too pack...go the other restaurant I reviewed on: Bangkok 101 (Thai) which is in the same parking lot.

Did you know that the "e" stands for Elvis? That's what my co-workers told me. The atmosphere is pleasant, the servers are nice and try their best to make you feel comfortable. The rolls took a really long time to come out but were pretty tasty. The spicy hamachi roll seemed to have more rice than hamachi. The Bay Scallop roll tasted good in the beginning then it was just a little bit too creamy near the end. I'd give it another try just to see what the other rolls taste like.

One of my favorite Sushi place in San Ramon/Dublin area. It's a little pricy but the amount of rolls they give you makes up for it. They also have a tofu soup combo which isn't so bad. They also have a 3 item combination with a lot of selection to choose from (fried oysters!!)

Sushi is a type of food that many people have no idea where to begin with, including myself. I was someone who wouldn't think twice about eatting raw anything. However, a few good friends of mine introduced me to E-sushi over a year ago and after a few visits of ordering only teriyaki chicken, i was given encouragement from friends to explore the menu. After one bite i was hooked. I could go on forever but the bottem line is that E-sushi is the real deal. Located in a tiny shopping center i feel like its the bay areas best kept secret. My friends and I are now regulars and whenever we all get together, its a given that we go there. The staff are genuine and passionate about working to serve only the best. The atmosphere is amazing! No TV's or annoying soundtracks of today's "hottest hit's". It's truly a reminder of why we go out to eat in the first place. Whether you're a sushi veteran or trying a popular california roll for your first time, E-sushi will keep you coming back for more.

I am incredibly surprised at how many negative reviews have been made about this place! This is my favorite hole-in-the-wall sushi restaurant. Whenever I have sushi (anywhere) I always try out a new roll or restaurant creation, as well as ordering my favorite rolls (usually dragon rolls, crunchy rolls, anything with Himachi!) or sashimi. I'm not able to afford sushi that often, so over the years I bounced around to different places for each sushi outing according to recommendations from other people. Personally I feel like the best sushi has been in the most unlikely places (except for the EXQUISITE sushi at Yoshi's jazz club, and Aqua Bleu in downtown Santa Cruz, and a few other places around the tri valley, but their food is at very high prices so I am unable to frequent them). When I was taken here by someone we ordered several rolls. The servers are very cheery and the chef acknowledges everyone he can when you enter as well as when you leave. The sushi was so good we ended up ordering a second round of rolls until we were super stuffed and happy! I am happy to say that the cost of our meal was at least $20 less than what I was anticipating. I was so excited that I immediately went back, and have been several times. When you are seated and they bring your drinks they usually serve a complimentary edemame or miso soup. I started sitting at the counter more often, and whenever I've asked the chef about certain fish I can see through the glass (as I'm still expanding my sushi knowledge) he would cut me a sample! He had a giant head of slicked back hair like Elvis, and most of their house creations are named after Elvis songs. I have experienced bad/low quality/gross sushi/I hate when I am not impressed!!, but as for the quality here, I have never been disappointed. I don't usually order teriyaki or grilled foods when I am out for sushi, and since I can't afford the upscale sushi restaurants, perhaps there is a certain expectation in quality that negative reviewers don't experience here? I am so excited to have found a place with impressive sushi that is affordable!!! I don't give this 5 stars because after eating Yoshi's 5 star sushi, I don't think anything will ever quite compare... But I always will come back to this little place happy to fill my empty belly!

  • Kevin B.

This is one of the best Sushi places in the area. It's affordable with great customer service. When you arrive they give you complimentary miso soup and edamame. The sushi is always fresh with some excellent specialty rolls. Tanaka "The Elvis" of Sushi is awesome at what he does. If you get a chance sit at the counter and watch Tanaka perfect his craft. My favorites rolls are the 49er Roll, the Rainbow Roll and the Spicy Crab Roll. The "Butter Fish" is a specialty fish that melts in your mouth.

  • Ona B.

Great place to go on the spur of the moment. Casual, not a dress down, try to impress your neighbor. Prices are great and not too over board. It's Dublin, not "Alamo" or "Danville" where it must be good sushi because of the cost. It's not trendy and most of the people that go (or at least when we go) are all good folks and create a great atmosphere.

  • Trish B.

I'm not a big raw fish fan at all, but my family is and they really liked the variety and taste of the rolls. The menu is a bit overwhelming for my taste, but for the second time, I stuck to my salmon teriyaki with the teriyaki on the side, and liked it just the same. My 1 1/2 yr. old also liked the salmon, rice, and edamame. The wait staff was somewhat attentive, but we asked for CA rolls twice and never got them-what is it beneath you or something, ha ha! All in all, the food is good, love the "Elvis" sushi chef and Elvis music (cheesy), and the ambiance is fine-not too cramped feeling, and there is ample parking.

  • Gabi M.

Eww. This is not good. The sushi lacks any kind of flavor, correct texture, and does not show any care for being put together. The fish was weird pieces to put in sushi, wrong size, something's not right about it. I have tried this place TWICE to give it the benefit of a doubt, but it's not good. I have tried the mango fish, which was okay, but tasted like something I think I could make from frozen at trader joes. The miso is weak, and I will not eat here again. I'd rather drive the few miles to go to Momiji in downtown PLeasanton, they RULE!

I got to say the sushi at E Sushi is edible but not very tasty. The nigiri sushi (sushi deluxe 10pc) I had tonight was a little smelly like it wasn't very fresh and perhaps starting to go bad. I don't think the maguro they served me was going to last another day. The Sushi roll I ordered was great in flavor but the texture of the sushi was soggy from all the sauce, which made the whole roll not very appetizing. They had lots of other dishes to try, but unfortunately I went there for sushi. My mistake I guess. This was the first time I've been there, and although I didn't like their sushi, they had lots of other things that looked interesting. I would probably go back there to try their bentos or noodles but definitely not the sushi. I think I'm getting a little nauseas from it right now. I can't recommend E Sushi for sushi. But I'll hold off writing off the entire menu.

  • Thomas T.

The food is good and the establishment is nicely decorated. Surprising-considering it is in a nondescript strip mall. The wait staff is attentive, perhaps overly so. Maybe because it was a slow night, but I received my miso soup and salad literally two minutes before my sushi came out. A big no-no in my book. That's why this place doesn't make five stars in my opinion. But if you want decent sushi, pleasant surroundings and are pressed for time, this is the place to go.

You know I was pretty excited going there after taking a look at the new menu. Kinda copying the things at sushihouse... But two staples were pretty bad- Lion king and scallop roll. did not taste so hot. Waiter recommeneded the beef roll. Said it was really good. and wow was I shocked at how bad it was. Man the beef was almost raw - but it was some jacked up cut where you had to chew it forever in order to get it down. The crunchy roll was ok - but gave the whole place more of an eh... Basically made me miss sushi house - I think the thing that is actually really good is the hot sauce on the volcano roll. end up dipping everything in there - *which says the roll is not so good to me* I just had the teriaki chicken - 5/20 - pretty good. Saba was eh. Tried the hamaichi cheek combo - 10/18. Actually after it showed up i was pretty pissed that i could get a free hamaichi cheek at the place on hopyard - vs i paid 12 bucks for this one, which was a tiny cheek. grrr can i take 1/2 star off

After reviewing the reviews on yelp, I give this place a try. It's actually pretty good. It's a cute little place, has alcohol, sushi bar, and booth sitting. Plenty of parking in the the parking lot. Staffs were nice, and friendly. The portions were pretty large, and wasn't too expensive.

Found this place on yelp a few months ago. Absolutely love the food! My favorite roll is the Phoenix roll =) The service is great and there's not usually a long wait. I've tried tons of different places from San Ramon to Hayward but have to say I think this place is my favorite and it is very well priced.

I love sushi! If I were a millionare I would hire my own sushi chef and eat it everyday. This place is awesome. My old favorite was Senro in downtown Pleasanton, but this place rocks. Delish rolls and great service. Very clean too. They use real crab on all their rolls...you don't have to request it like at some places (Kawa Livermore)

  • Milenko D.

Although the service can be just "OK" at times, the quality of the food is excellent and the price reasonable considering. Despite what some reviews here say, E Sushi is 100% Japanese. After talking to chef Tanaka on several visits, he is Japanese as well as his sushi....it's imported daily. I've personally seen him toss out whole slabs of fish because he said it "doesn't feel right to me..." or a new shipment arrived to replenish stock...a testament to his commitment to quality. I've been to about 1/2-dozen different sushi restaurants in the area and E Sushi tops them all.

When I first moved to the area, 2 years ago, this was the first sushi joint I went to and have since then become a regular. There's plenty of variety when it comes to sushi in this area but I have to say this place is tops. Fresh fish, LARGE rolls (they're not shy here), great deals (like a 3 item dinner for only $15.95 and these are large servings mind you!. That's standard price for 2 item dinners everywhere else) and to top it off, excellent service. Your drinks will always be full and table clear of all empty dishes. It can get busy there and when it does the wait for sushi can be a while. Tanaka, the owner, is the only sushi chef there. He's great at what he does but they need at least one more chef to help accommodate those packed nights. My advice, go during lunch if you can. Dinner can get a little crazy. LOVE THE PLACE THOUGH and I highly recommend giving this place a look see.

I'm a regular customer there now. I search for good sushi all over Tri-Valley and this one has won for #1 on my list. Finally! It's got great service & very delicious sushi. The udons are great too. The portions for the nigiris are huge. My favorite is the Ika, always fresh. I highly recommend those who live in the area to try it out. And if you haven't yet, you're missing out.

Since moving to Dublin, take out from E Sushi! has become my family's pick for our regular sushi nights. A very friendly staff, reliably great fish and a nice presentation makes this place stand out.

My friend and I order two types of rolls to go (rainbow and a deep fried type) - instead of putting in to two boxes, it was in the same box causing the oil and sauce, not to mention the heat from the deep fried roll made the saw fish roll smell bad...and the sauce seeped all over the place. I would be more detailed and caring when packing hot cooked food and raw ones.

I love E Sushi!!! Tanaka and Mei are always so welcoming, and the service is always great...I have been coming here for years, introduced a bunch of my friends and we adore this place!! The super white tuna was what hooked me, but all the fish is always fresh and Tanaka is quite the artist, my new favorite of his is the Graceland roll...the sauce is delicious!! The Elvis decorations add a cute ambiance and just have Tanaka say, "Thank you, thank you very much!!" I am sure it will bring a smile to your face, I know it always does for me :) Can't wait for my next sushi night with friends!!

I been here twice. First time was lunch with the girls. I had 2 rolls and order some teriyaki chicken to-go for the bf. The rolls included some sashimi but it was not the freshest. The food was so so. The second time here was dinner with the bf. I ordered the Nabe Udon and my bf had the dinner combo with teriyaki chicken, tempura and salad. My udon was exceptionally delicious! Second only to the udon from Tsurugi from SLO. My bf's dinner combo was huge - the chicken was delicious and the tempura was light. He loved the dinner combo. I don't know why I didn't notice the Korean food section on their menu before. Like I told our waiter, any restaurant that has Japanese and Korean food on the same menu holds a special place in my heart. I have to go back next time to try the kimchi ramen. Besides the scrumptious food, the service was first class.

I love this place, it's so great. The food is always fresh, really good, and they always have some sort of special fish. The staff and chef are always really friendly and accommodating, and always make you feel noticed. Also every time we go there we get free edamame and miso soup which tastes amazing. The prices are also very reasonable. I would totally recommend going here.

people who have voted anything lower than 3 stars is completely ignorant on the quality of sushi that they make.. yea it's not a sushi restaurant next to the bay (water), but by far the best sushi restaurant in the tri-valley. The owners are great and friendly and great service..

First off, let me say this place has the best shiro maguro!!! Very warm, friendly atmosphere, with plenty of choices, from yummy rolls to excellent quality sashimi and nigiri. If you get Yuki as your waitress, you're in good hands. She's friendly, really knows her sushi, and will make sure you have a pleasant dining experience. As far as quality goes, the fish is always top-shelf. And portion wise, this restaurant is very generous. I've been to dozens of sushi places in the bay area, but I always come back to E-Sushi.

Very friendly staff and chef. Their food is ridicudiously good and cheap. I love their nigiri rolls because they are pretty dang fresh. When I come here, I like to order their tempura udon because their soup base has a sweet kind of flavor and their noodles are not soggy like other places. The chef is way cool too, if you talk to him, hes very friendly and you get to wonder how his hair stays up like elvis's hair. The waitress are very nice as well and very attentive. Nice environment, clean, and neat. You don't want to eat at a sushi place that is dirty and this place ain't dirty.

I came here for lunch witha co-worker and we decided to try some place new. We both ordered the bento box and I hardly touched my food. I ordered chicken with California roll. I barely touched my food because the chicken was burnt and the California roll didn't taste fresh. There was a loud racket coming from next store due to construction. We asked for the door to be closed but that didn't help. The noise was loud and we couldn't eat in peace. There were a few other people dining during lunch. I will not return to this place until the construction is done. The service staff was attentive to our needs.

Can you say YUM? I love sashimi and theirs is SO fresh. And the variety is wonderful. The 49er roll is wonderful, as is everything I have tried so far. The tempura is very nice, the broccoli is not hard as a rock. Crispy, yum. We have been there 5 times and I'm working my way through their sushi menu. There has only been one roll that I didn't like so far but it was not due to anything bad, just not my taste. The quality of the food is terrific and I love their tea, served in big cups. Love the salad dressing. A little pricey but you absolutely get what you pay for. Service is interesting, wait staff very nice. When crowded it can be very slow service. Last time there were 6 of us, we all ordered at the same time and the first served were almost done eating by the time I got my sushi. But I get that they are a small staffed place and we make allowances. They can get crowded and loud but it all seems to work. Very casual, good for families. Don't expect intimate dining, think family and friends have good food and conversation. Comfortable.

Went for dinner tonight with my wife. Monday night, place was kinda empty, but came on a friend's recommendation. Wow...very glad we stayed!! This has got to be the best sushi restaurant in the East Bay. Place was clean, well lit (not too romantic, if that's what you're looking for), service was prompt and attentive. Hot tea was very flavorful and always topped off. We ordered the Chirashi, Hamachi Delight Roll (Yellow Tail), and Kimchee Ramen. The fish was superbly fresh!! Vibrant, colorful and moist. I've definitely paid a lot more for worse before. The Chirashi was therefore great. The roll was a great balance of subtle flavors and textures. No need to ruin it with a ton of wasabi/soy sauce. Just the way Sushi should be enjoyed. We ordered the Kimchee Ramen half way through the meal as a filler. Definitely impressed! Flavorful and steaming hot. Great broth, like mom would make, homestyle. Best service I've had in a long time, they actually deserved their tip, unlike a lot of places these days. We'll definitely be back.

This place is nice. Honestly. From the big things to the small things. The place is clean, quiet and easy on the eyes. The portions are very generous. My combination dinner plate was given to me on a 1.25x1 ft plate of glory. I ordered the Philly Roll and Dragon roll. I've never had sushi this large in width and diameter. The pricing is reasonable considering how much they give you. And best of all, the workers there speak genuinely good English. In my case, the waitress was korean and had nice small talk with me mum. I have no complaints about this place.

We were there for a late lunch on a HOT Saturday afternoon. Its a very small restaurant and I was surprised they didn't have their AC on full blast . It was not comfortable in there. I wanted to leave but the two kids were starved and the husband was insistent on Japanese so we stayed. We ordered the chicken teriyaki bento with California roll. This comes with the standard miso soup and salad. We also ordered a "Mix it up" Roll, Poke roll, and Philadelphia roll. The food did not take so long and the waitress was pleasant enough and offered my 1 year a sucker when she threw a bit of tantrum. The portion was large for the bento and the chicken teriyaki was just as good as any other Japanese joint. It didn't blow me away but was good enough for the cost. The sushi on the other hand was "questionable". It did not smell fresh. I sampled each roll and my husband ate the rest while I shared the rest of the bento with my four year old son. I'm still surprised that he didn't get the "runs" after eating all of those nasty rolls. Then again, he slathered a ton of soy sauce and wasabi on the rolls and probably didn't taste much of the fish to begin with. The lady was nice so I tipped her the standard 15 percent. When we left, they did not acknowledge us or say good bye so I guess they don't need our business that bad. I don't think I'll be coming back again.

I am so sad to see E Sushi get a less than stellar review. The main sushi chef/owner of E Sushi is Mr. Tanaka. We live in Oakland and used to frequent Tanaka's restaurant in Berkeley on University, before he moved east. Now we make the trek out to Dublin for a few reasons - 1. The sushi here is very fresh. The hamachi, super white tuna, and a few others are flown out from Japan almost every day and you can tast the freshness. No fishy smells here. I haven't experienced the "not fresh" quality that some other reviews mention during any of my numerous visits to either of Tanaka's restaurants. I always go during dinner, and only when Tanaka is the sushi chef behind the counter. 2. The inventive rolls- I know some sushi traditionalists want to keep it real with the nigiri, but if you are in the mood for some very filling and interesting rolls, try out some of Tanaka's Elvis-inspired specialties including the Blue Hawaii roll and the deep-fried Vegas roll. Many of the rolls have house-made sauces. 3. Tanaka himself- a very friendly, kind, and helpful sushi chef. Tanaka is a great guy and is more than happy to make you a custom roll or order. I usually just tell him what I'm in the mood for - wasabi tobiko, mango, tuna.... and he comes up with something tasty just for me! Once, we went in, counted the money in our wallets and asked if he could make us dinner - whatever we wanted - for that amount (about $70). We had one of the best meals of our lives! 4. Delicious sashimi - not too much rice, not too much wasabi, generous portions of fish and very nicely selected cuts too. 5. While the sake list is limited, the "higher shelf" bottles offer a pretty tasty selection. I prefer my sake unfiltered, but the Hana flavored sakes will satisfy my tastebuds too. If you can't finish a bottle, Tanaka can store it for you till your next visit or you can take it home to finish later. Be sure to ask for a roll with the hot strawberry sauce and sit at the counter for more personal service. Yes, it's a bit of a drive and yes, it's in a strip mall, but I sure hope Tanaka's new location here in Dublin does well so I can keep stuffing my face with delicious sushi here! (as for the fish scales mentioned in the previous review, sitting at the counter can be helpful if you have questions about what's up with the sushi. There are several varieties of house special nigiri - like the Tai- that come with skin attached for more complex flavor and texture. I'm sure the chefs would be happy to remove the skin if asked). Rock on Tanaka.

I've went with my best friend for dinner last night and the dinner turned out to be decent. The dinner that we had was the combination box. It turns out to be a big plating instead the bento box for most Japanese restaurants. I had the beef teriyaki with the tempura. The beef was very tender, although the teriyaki was a bit too sweet. I had very good teriyaki sauce in other restaurants. The salad was good, yet I wish it was on the side instead with the dinner. Cold food shouldn't mix with hot food. We also had two sushi rolls that was excellent. The plating was very appetizing and creative, but they shouldn't use soy sauce for sushi roll as a garnish that is a little puddle. The atmosphere was average and it has a few of Elvis memorabilia along with his music was playing. There's a few of Japanese arts on the wall and a sword fish. What caught my eye was a big whole entire wall of Mount Fuji. The service was right on, very attentive, and polite. If I was in the neighborhood again. I would probably go back.

Delicious white tuna tataki salad ( Shiro maguro/Albacore ). Food is very good to excellent. Tanaka and staff provide a warm, friendly, relaxed atmosphere. While I've never had less than excellent fish here, the chicken teriyaki has either been stellar: fresh-off-the-grill, tender, bbq-flavor & texture, OR mediocre: once-stellar, with that reheated or nuked taste. The Agedashi tofu also has the habit of either being really, really good or just so-so. The Gyoza is quite good. The Miso soup is always excellent although shouldn't it be?

Friendly staff. Enjoyed my first time here with a buddy and had their bento lunch box; spicy tuna roll and shoba. Also had the phoenix roll, a little too sweet. Would definitely patron again.

This is a 2 star for the the Japanese food they offer and it would be a 1 for the sushi. We came here when it first opened and was pleased with the sushi until about the third and fourth time we visited. The place smelled fishy and the sashimi in our bento boxes was slimy and tasted a little funky. The next time I got some rolls to go the albacore tuna had the same texture and smell. I've stopped in for udon and tempura since then and they are good but I refuse to go for the sushi. And I have a hard time justifying going to a sushi restaurant when I can't eat the sushi.

PLUS: everyone that worked there was super friendly and attentive (always filled up our glasses w/ water, took away plates when we were done, etc); the prices were decent; complimentary edamame and gyoza ....but... the sushi just wasn't that great. i like the creative rolls w/ a bunch of variety, but they didn't have as much as i expected. the raw fish didn't seem to taste so fresh and all the rolls had a TON of rice. which seems weird b/c you would expect that at an all you can eat sushi joint (where they want you to stop eating their fish). we'll stick to meiko and sozo for now...

I loved this place. It is in a somewhat random shopping center full of Asian restaurants, but a very nice atmosphere inside. I thought the entire place was very clean and the staff friendly. They were very helpful in offering suggestions. We ate at the sushi bar and it was great. The chef made us our rolls immediately and chatted with us when we had questions. I'll definitely be coming here again!

Great place to go to for lunch or dinner. Pricer but the rolls are huge and pretty good. The wait staff is really attentive and I like the quiet and cozy atmosphere. Good restaurant to visit in the East Bay when you need your sushi fix.

My friend told me about this pl. I was there @ lunch time, and the service was perfect. I ordered some rolls was delicious. However, the bento lunch wasn't good at all. I noticed the bento box wasn't clean???? at all. Next time i go there, I'll just get some rolls.

I only gave it 3 stars because I haven't had a chance to try a lot of their menu yet...and they have A-lot! This is one of the largest and most diverse menus that I've seen in a Japanese restaurant. The sushi is good but the tempura shines as one of the better ones I've had. It's light &crunchy and not greasy. You can tell a really good tempura batter because it doesn't get immediately soggy or doughy or oily once it starts to cool. The portion sizes are extremely generous and I was stuffed with just a shared sushi appetizer and my entree. Be prepared to wait on Friday nights and weekends, even for take-out. It took 20 min to get 1 roll of take-out sushi for a snack one Friday @ 6PM.

I have only got into sushi about a year ago, I was one of those people who said " I will never eat raw fish", well the saying " never say never" is true because I never thought I would ever try sushi. This place was the first time I had real sushi ( before that I had tried california roll but you can't call that real sushi), I have been to a few other sushi places since but E Sushi! has the best sushi I have had in the dublin area. Most other sushi places make basic sushi with little flavor, now don't get me wrong E Sushi! has basic sushi but they also have some specialty rolls, a few of my favorites are the godzilla roll, volcano roll, crispy crab roll, dragon roll and they use to have this one called the Love me true roll but last time I went there it was not on the menu. Also there there Bento box meals are very good, they come with salad, soup, rice and 2 choose of either chicken teriyaki, beef teriyaki, tonkatsu, shrimp tempura, vegetable tempura, mix tempura, california roll, sashimi and many other chooses. If you like sushi try E Sushi! I think you will be please with as I was. Enjoy.

This is the only other five star rating I have besides Sen Dai. This place now ranks tops due to the owners knowledge and selection of fish I have not found in many other sushi restaurants. I have been doing research on the industry and got some great tips after speaking with Casson Trenor who authored "Sustainable Sushi." I admit I have not yet found the time to visit Tataki (operates on the concepts explained in Trenor's book) in San Francisco but after hearing about Arctic Char as a substitue for farm raised Salmon, I was on the hunt. I met Tanaka, the owner, and explained my dilema. He suggested the Scotland Salmon and some Waru (slightly aged to remove excess moisture) and both were fantastic. He was very knowledgable and seems to have some good connections for speciality fishes. I will be back to try some more and update Yelp. Tanaka also cleared up some common misconceptions about "Hamachi" and Amberjack. I am just trying to figure out what I am really eating!!

went for the first time a couple weeks ago and still thinking about the sushi when i'm back in nyc... after visitin one night with friends, i was treated to a wonderful sushi and sashimi combo with exceptionally fresh fish... i snagged a bite of the curry donkatsu and lion king that were also delicious... we even got a bowl of ramen on the house that was unbelievably tasty as well... the friendly staff was top notch in accomodating our large group and did not delay on our orders or drinks throughout the meal... my only concern with this establishment would be how much weight i'd gain from frequenting e-sushi if i lived within a 20 mile radius... would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for reasonably priced, high quality sushi with a warm accomodating staff...

Moving out to the Tri Valley area, I really missed good ethnic food. The franchise restaurants were typical bad and I wasn't impressed with the so-called ethnic restaurants. My friend recommended this restaurant to me. I love sushi. When I was Hawaii, I had sushi breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The first time I visited, the food was good. However, my husband got a stomach ache. I was stubborn to believe that this was a restaurant I can visit often. I tried the second time then a third time....unfortunately the sushi was not good. The rice was mushy. The fish was not fresh. I am very disappointed. Once again, I'm searching for a good reasonably priced sushi place.

YUCK!! I love sashimi and that's what I wanted to eat, but theirs tasted like it was rubbed in bleach!! YUCK!! My entire experience here was horrible. My friends and I waited at the door along with two other parties. They got seated and it was our turn!! Yay! I was hungry!! And there were two empty tables, big enough for my party, but we stood there waiting for the waitress to seat us, but she kept walking by... over and over again. Hello? Are we invisible? My friend said to her, "Excuse me, how long is the wait?" "Oh! How many in your party?" What?! We WERE invisible!!! Finally got seated, and were given menus. Had to flag her down to get our order in, which is AFTER others who got seated put in theirs! And then we got the disgusting food, oh, and btw, mine was served about ten minutes before my other friends' food was served. Horrible. They were prompt in giving us the check though!

This is probably the best Japanese food I have had since moving to CA. But, that's probably not saying much considering I only order a limited set of things from Japanese restaurants. I'm not a sushi eater, tried many times, but it just doesn't do it for me. So this is based on my lunch experience with shrimp tempura and vegetables, and gyoza. The tempura is amazing, it is cooked perfectly, not at all greasy and the batter is light and seems to compliment the food rather than smother it. Also, all of the sauces that accompanied my lunch were terrific. The gyoza wasn't the best tasting I have ever had, but I liked that they were smaller and a bit more delicate than I have seen in most restaurants. The portion size was large and combined with the miso soup and edamame, I didn't come close to finishing it all. I think I spent a total of $8 and was very pleased. At times the service was a bit too attentive, I generally don't need someone checking on me every 2 minutes, but the place wasn't busy and I'm sure that they wanted to keep me happy.
