Could not have been better!! Everything was prepared EXACTLY as we requested. The place is spotless, and the staff could not be more friendly. We come here yearly to pay our respects to the "19", and will certain come to this restaurant again.

Ate here a few times, since family lives close by. Food is decent, service is eh. I recently got sassed by a waitress who asked if I wanted my eggs over easy with runny whites. When I said no, she corrected me by saying it was called eggs over medium. I've never heard that. 1. Why would anyone want eggs over easy with runny whites? 2. Eggs over easy/medium/hard refer to the yolk, not the whites. She never checked our coffee either. Meh.

We were on a road trip just passing through the area and needed a rest stop. Driving slowly through town, looking for a restaurant for the family, I noticed several cars parked outside a restaurant. Must be the local's favorite!! We stopped for a rest and lunch. Restroom facilities were clean, and the staff was friendly. The walls were decorated with a southwest themed mural. The patrons seemed to be local- everyone seemed to know each other. The menu choices were basic diner type options, with some Mexican entrees added as well. My husband had the chimichanga and I had the grilled roast beef sandwich. Both were delicious! Iced tea was served in mason jars- nice touch. The kids had burgers- good food all around!!

The evening I passed through Yarnell not many businesses were open. The Family Diner was. Named appropriately, I had a burger just like I'd make Sweet D at home. Hand crafted patty. tomato, lettuce and pickle on a bun soft enough to make Guy Fiero smile blissfully. I added mustard and ketchup to taste. My side was onion rings; sweet onion, deep fried crisp and brown. I finished with a hand-dipped root beer float. Home cooking from a family restaurant. The walls feature work by many local artists. Much of it for sale. Buying art locally is almost better than food from a farmer's market. Art lasts longer. The most recent art hung in the Yarnell Family Diner is part of a fund raiser to rebuild the Community Center. If you haven't been, Yarnell is a very cool town. Arizona 89 was the state's mother road north to Flag until I-17 was built. Yarnell's beautifully crafted stone businesses line a highway passing through oak groves once cherished for shade and acorns by Yavapai and Apache people. When an Interstate like 17 cuts a business artery like AZ 89, once-solid towns tend to ghost-out. Yarnell's tough stayed, and affordable living attracted retirees and artists. Its got an artsy aura booted and hatted ala Arizona's earliest Anglo-American inhabitants. June 30, 2013, a fire tore the heart from Yarnell. It will live and rebuild. When government assists, the regulations, requirements and paperwork are enough to try a person in a normal state of mind. When tourists tour, diners dine, and shoppers shop, income flows in clearer, more direct channels. The Granite Mountain Hotshot Crew Memorial opened July 11, 2013. If your life or property's ever been protected by a public servant, I encourage you to pay the Memorial a visit, a bit of symbolic thanks for those who put their lives on the line for all.

Everything here is delicious! Try the banana cream pie. No bar but you can BYOB and they'll provide glasses. Live music on Friday nights. Great atmosphere! Can't wait to come back.

We stopped by today for a late lunch. Ordered the veggie omelet which was spot on perfect. Friendly service made lunch even better and can't beat the ice tea served in mason jars.
