Truly excellent carne Asada. It was my first time there and the food was terrific, service excellent and very attentive and I will return. The Carne Asada was chopped and had bacon in it. What a great combination and you must try it.

The food here is pretty good but the service is really lacking. We began our visit without menus (another patron who felt bad for us actually brought some over) and then the waitress dumped salsa all over the table and left. The salsa is pretty tasty, chips are stale as previously noted in other reviews. My husband ordered the chile relleno burro, which he liked very much. I ordered the red chile burro with cheese, which was so so. The beef lacks flavor and was pretty greasy. The tortillas are homemade and tasty, however. The decor here is sad, old, and potentially not clean. I had been here previously for lunch, which seems the more preferable time, since patrons are usually in a hurry and just want something good to eat. We probably won't be back.

Wasn't happy with my experience. Walked in, server saw me but ignored me for about 10 minutes. He looked like the only employee.. On a Saturday.... Finally he came up to me and assumed I was doing takeout. I told him I actually was going to sit down and eat. He told me, in a rude voice, " k fine well you can sit wherever but it'll be about 30 minutes before you get any service" I looked for a place to sit, they had half the restaurant roped off, there were only 3 families in there but I couldn't find a table... So I just left. Went to El Molinitos instead. I'm eating their white chicken enchiladas and am glad I came here instead.

I am a fan! I have been going to Villa for years and generally go at least 2 to 3 times a month. It is a small family run place. Don't expect anything fancy, but do expect some good Family style Mexican food. No prefab stale hard taco shells, they make their shredded beef taco's the old fashion way.

  • Michelle W.

Seems like mom and pop shop. Seating and service slow at first. No bar to speak of. (A Mexican restuarant only serving cuervo?!). But when food got there it was hot fresh and seemed like made from scratch. It was a surprising finish to a shaky start.

I have had two different plates here and was impressed both times. Very authentic and good both times!! Atmosphere is dark and non appealing but I go to eat not enjoy the scenery. I definately recommend this place!!

Way back in the day, I worked about a mile from Villa's, and would stop in at least once a week for some fantastic sonoran enchiladas. They had the best I have ever tasted, crispy and soft all at the same time. I long for some enchiladas from Villa's If it wasn't so far a drive....

Breakfast burrito with the beef inside is one of the best I've ever had. Great salsa. Very quick too!

Hey villa....if u tell me when I call and the sign on the door also confirms that you Open at 10:30 it would be nice if you opened at that time. (And not ignored me as I stood at the door for 25 mins.) Furthermore, If u tell me to get there when you open to guarantee I get the tortillas I need for my party it would be nice if the tortillas were actually there at that time and not delivered at 11:45. You really don't know how to treat your customers and I will NEVER be back. Good thing there are other customer friendly mexican food places nearby that could take my money!

This little hole in the wall place is in a strip plaza near Ina & Shannon. I've been coming here for years and always order the same thing - #5 shredded beef tacos. They are greasy and good! They sell homemade tortillas that are the best I've ever had and they sell out quickly!

  • Chris B.

Good burro tortillas are the real deal, the place is clean it looks more like a bar than restaurant. For takeout it's on the expensive side... Came out to 8 bucks for a burrito, but for locals near the spot id still recommend it

I was sick the other night so wanted a soup for take out. Was disappointed that they did make cocido but was pleasantly surprised with their casuela soup. It was very tasty. My husband had their taco plates and was satisfied!

Family restaurant, authentic Mexican dishes. These are not "americanized" and spicier than other places. Excellent food. Service is great, or if someone (staff) doesn't show up, can be poor.

    (4)
  • Tammara W.

I wish I could review the food but unfortunately the service was so poor and the staff so rude we didn't make it that far. We were told by a female employee we could sit wherever we wanted as we walked in so we chose a table and sat down waiting to make a drink order. She then proceeded to use a loud vacuum in the room we were in and we still waited to make a drink order. Finally a male employee came to take our drink order but he was seriously preoccupied with his cell phone and took forever to bring them out. My husband asked for chips and our server rolled his eyes, we saw him several times doing other things but never brought out chips and after 7 more minutes watching him text we decided we didn't want to stick around any longer and left.

a small family owned place in a strip mall. Don't go expecting to be seated by a hostess, just walk in and find a table or sit at the counter. Being they are family the staff is small and sometimes service is slow. Décor is old and the place lacks ambience. The food makes up for all of this. Go in with plenty of time, relax and enjoy

Villa has great Mexican food. If you're looking for non-chain restaurant Mexican food then this is it. The restaurant is run by a family and they're always friendly.

Came here once and will be coming back again and again. Fresh tortillas, delicious beans, and excellent sauce! The price is right, and our service was excellent.

Dining trio husband Gary and I (minus mom, the third of the trio) visited Villa tonight, for a wonderful casual, tasty dinner. Luckily, we didn't have to wait. We tried to eat here the other night, and there was a small line. We wolfed down some chips and excellent salsa, to stave our roaring appetites (it was a long work day for us). The service was pretty prompt and friendly. We love to get their Combination plate #8, the chicken enchiladas. I like the flavor of their enchilada sauce. And the enchiladas are hearty: full of tasty, shredded, white meat chicken. Villa completes the platter with shredded lettuce, a hefty amount of refried beans with cheese, and yummy, melt in your mouth Spanish rice. Our dishes tonight did not disappoint; I also had a little leftover for tomorrow's snack. We left, happy campers (well, diners!). We'll be baaaack.

  • Aaron M.

Slow, unattentive service. Stale chips. Salsa really tasty but damn...our table of 8 was short 3 entrees when the rest came out. Once we got the food it was very tasty, carne asada very flavorful, but almost over seasoned towards the end of my burro... you know the stinging tongue from the salt...overall good food, lagging service.

  • Cheryl M.

Small hole in the wall with darn good Mexican food. Their burritos are HUGE and their enchilada sauce is absolutely some of the best I've had! I hadn't been in a long time...years actually, so I ordered what I was used to. YUMMY! Great spice and great texture in the sauce. The only disappointment was the carne asada was a little tough. Just a fluke I'm guessing so it's not worth giving it any less of a rating.

  • Pamela S.

First time ever ordering a flat enchilada and it was amazing. Food was fast and delicious. It is a small place though. There were some very loud patrons sitting next to me and they were using foul language ...glad I did not have my son with me. Anyway, management did nothing about it...not so much as even asking them to quiet down. I got up to pay the bill and he asked how everything was and I told him the food was great but I just couldn't stand anymore of the belligerence. He did apologize and acknowledge the issue. I will go back but maybe for Togo items :)

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
