I'm not a "buffet" person. Typically the stuff isn't fresh or flavorful....throw in a name that causes some to scrunch their brow or raise a politically correct eyebrow and I wasn't exactly stoked to experience "U Like". I was pleasantly surprised. You walk in the door to a really cute fountain/water feature and a pleasant lobby area. The hosts are always very prompt and courteous and we haven't had to wait once. Ushered to our table, the restaurant seems very clean and fairly current...though it has the obligatory flat screens showing sports or infomercials...of which I will STILL never understand the necessity. Walking around the hot tables you'll find all the usual favorites like Orange Chicken, Broccoli Beef, and lo mein. Continuing the walk you'll find some surprises like freshly made egg foo young, salt and pepper shrimp and the typical american fare for the kiddies. The sushi isn't bad..but isn't fantastic. I'm a sushi fanatic and can't seem to find any of the rolls that are worth the trip accross the room. But some other amazing little finds in this place are the "build a bowl" station where you can pick and choose your veggies & meat and have it cooked to order ... right next to a create your own Pho station!!! Amazing. And delish! And, a really great dessert bar as well...cakes, honey wonton's coated in sesame seeds, and ice cream to boot. All this...and only $30 (including tip) for the two of us. Pretty darn great food for a "buffet". Now....if only we could get a do-over on the name....

U Like buffet is a meet-your-expectations sort of restaurant. That is, if you expect to get mediocre food, a forgetful atmosphere, and average service. I'm not saying that all the food is bad, but I wouldn't say it was good either. To be honest, a lot of it tasted like it had been out for a while or hastily prepared in a microwave. The best part the eating experience was the hibachi grill, which was surprisingly good. Unfortunately, even that would not be enough to make me want to give this place another try.

As AYCE Chinese buffets go (and I'm generally not a fan) this place is pretty good. There is a huge selection of food and the quality is reasonable. The highlight for me is the Hibachi: you pick your raw ingredients and they stir fry them for you. If you like Mongolian BBQ then this place is a great value.

The last time I went, they laced their food with way too much MSG and I felt sick after just one small plate. Never again!

  • Nappy H.

Well it's brand spanking new, the servers are many and helpful, and the buffet has sushi and mongolian BBQ and the cost of two adults was UNDER 20 bucks with tax!!! ... So why not 5 stars? The bathrooms...how, HOW does such a pretty restaurant have such a dirty, old, filthy bathroom!? THey spend so much money on the appearance of the place but missed the most important part of a restaurant...the bathroom!!

Oh lord .... it looks like food and there is truck full ton of it ....... I guess I had to try it once since "U Like Oriental Buffet" was such a perfect pitch to me - to which I answered - "Why yes, I Like Oriental Buffet!" Well kind of not really. It is an illusion of oriental food - a massive array of it. And actually a remarkable display of near food - kind of not really food. My bad. I just wanted something different and my brain power was low. I had looked at a pizza buffet down the street and opted out of that one. I guess by the time I drove in here, my stomach had taken over. EAT NOW - such a simple command and directive. I did not get sick - which is always a good sign. The staff is very nice and friendly. You get to ingest a smattering of everything. There is nothing stellar. More life face approximations of Orange Chicken and the like. Bah .... My complaint with Asian eateries is that I prefer a combination plate - not one huge place of just Orange chicken or Phad Thai or the like. So in conclusion - Me Not Like U Like Oriental Buffet.

OK, when they first opened I did like it. But somewhere along the way they have just quit trying. Just came from there on Dec 2, 2014 and it was awful, the food quality is not that great, even for a buffet. There were mostly empty pans in some spots, some brown meat product marked as Cod, went to get a salad and then no Ranch so I left the plate with salad on it, it was still laying there when I left. The quality has went way down hill since they opened. When I was getting my food, a cook was standing in the buffet service area just talking to someone, fairly portly, so couldnt get around him, he ignored me and didn't move, just kept talking to a friend of his in spanish. Old yellowed broccoli pieces with a few pieces of chicken in one pan. They are now just above that dump "China Star" at Grant/Swan in quality. I HAVE TAKEN THIS PLACE OFF MY LIST PERMANENTLY ! Take my advice, if you don't mind a quick interstate trip, go north on 10 to Cortaro Rd Exit and go to "New Town Chinese Buffet" next to Cracker Barrel it is much nicer and quality is much better and you can visit the areas largest Walmart while you're there. April 2015 - Pima Health Department Report: With eight critical violations, U-Like Oriental Buffet was given a "Provisional" rating. Me-No-Likey Sean Tucson, AZ

This was my first visit to a U Like Buffet, and I liked it! So the name does not lie. I wasn't sure about it having driven by the locations often, but a couple of friends took me. Everything was fine. It isn't the best Chinese food in the world but for a dinner buffet of $11.99 I was quite happy and full. I got 3 plates, really went gluten, and had a lot of sushi. So happy to find loads of sushi. I had a nice plate of salad with squid (or is that octopus? Not sure?) and imitation lobster and yummy stuff. I then picked up random things, Lo Mein noodles, some kind of apple pie fritter, kim-chi, tapioca pudding, and other odds and ends. I just piled it all on and ate it. I was pleased with everything and scarfed it all down with no regards. They even have chop sticks, and give you a fortune cookie at the end. It's all kind of a surreal experience eating this- the various kinds of Chinese and American foods with sushi. Pleasant table service and loads of refills on beverages, and they split our check into three. I'd be happy to return!

As far as oriental buffets go, this one is one of the better ones. They have a good selection of food, and the Mongolian barbeque is best part. There is a good salad selection and various sushi's, seafood's and deserts. They have some different things to try too - I enjoyed trying frog legs for the first time here the other night with friends. The service leaves a bit to be desired, and bathrooms were a disgusting mess despite the sign that says how clean they keep their bathrooms. Prices are very fair.

My wife and I came for lunch. Mostly just curious. I had the orange chicken, sesame chicken, lo mein, garlic chicken. It was all very good. The sweet and sour pork had 0 flavor. The pot stickers were bland, but the sauce was amazing. All in all, not bad. I would come here again for sure.

My mother and I have gone to this location quite a few times. I have found that the food is not to temperature a lot of the time . As a former restaurant owner. I have noticed that they do not use proper food handling when switching out food on the buffet. I would like to see better labeling of the product in the location of where the product is sitting. I would also like see the staff do more quality control, such as food temperature and the quality of the food. Their food tends to get cold or tends to get a hard or cold and hard tasting depending on how long it has been sitting out. Based on the price I do not believe it is worth it. This is why we have not been in lately

U like buffet? Me for sure no like ur buffet... first off the bathroom in this place is very ***nasty and dirty*** I have tried lunch buffet and dinner their is no shrimp on it on the lunch time at all. Food sucks just put it that way... pho noodle soup the broth is nasty, don't even bother eating sushi old and no selection waste of time, buffet food don't even get me started...I would recommend eating at the wok & roll buffet on ina and Shannon... price is more but way worth it when you see what they offer

    (1)
  • Jia-Ying X.

All my comment is related to their food. I have tried most of their food.. They have a variety of food there, chicken, beef, shrimp and anything that is similar to what panda express serves. Their shrimp is very small, and even though there are lots of meat, none of them are special. None of my friends like their food. Anyway, if you just want to eat a lot of broccoli beef and sweet chicken, then you can come here.

  • Sandy S.

Pretty good for a buffet place. Definitely get the hibachi. Pick your meat, veggies, and seasonings. Fresh and delicious. Don't waste your time on the buffet offerings unless you know it just came out of the kitchen.

I have not had a bad experience yet. My husband and I really enjoy it here. I'm pretty sure this place is owned by whoever runs New Buffet on Cracker Barrel Road. Same food, atmosphere, decor, et cetera. We go to both, depending on our errends. Anyway, my husband and I love it. I cannot complain about endless wontons. The food is delicious and kept warm. My husband loves the sushi buffet. I love the Japanese chicken. It's always so tender and fantastic. Everything is just delicious. The ONLY thing I dislike is the orange chicken. It tasted like plain soy sauce. Otherwise, all is great. The selection is quite large and actually kept fairly fresh. Everything is clean. I love that I can always find something for my picky toddler. The fruit is good and nothing ever looks old. They have good desserts. It's all yummy. The staff is also very nice. The ladies always play with our kids and they are so sweet. We really enjoy it there. It's the place we go when we just want something we know we will like, and we might even take my in-laws there when they visit from Utah.

I only ventured into this buffet because my sister dragged me here!! Right down the street from us, we had driven by several times and laughed at the name. I'm not a frequenter of buffets, so I really don't have much to compare U Like to. The only thing that I Liked was the Hibachi bar. I actually had two helpings! The variety of veggies was impressive, but I was too scared of the raw chicken/beef that was sitting out (on ice, but still...). I took my plate to the chef and he grilled up my veggies with their special teriyaki sauce. I took a gander at the rest of the food. They had lots of fried foods, sushi, and a salad bar that looked wilted. It was only 7.95 for our lunch, which is a great price considering how much the mongolian grill down the street costs. I MAY be back if I'm having a craving for stir-fry veggies!

The food is exactly what you would expect from a oriental buffet restaurant. There is no difference in the taste I swear they all use the same recipes. But this place is a bit different I absolutely love the pho here they have a section where you choose the ingredients you want in your pho; and they cook it for you. And the chef there is really nice. Only thing I would change is the sushi l. Would it kill you to have a philly roll?

  • Adam F.

This U-Like is slightly different than the other one. It is much cleaner, more spacious, and better looking than the other one. The service was not as good but wasn't terrible. What is the same between the toe is the food. I dared myself to try the baby octopus and it was okay. The green beans and broccoli were pretty good. I liked the mushrooms but wish they wouldn't use so much oil in it. Speaking of oil, I highly suspect their soups are loaded with MSG's. Can't help much giving advice on the fried food because I don't eat it, but I've heard mixed things on it.

  • Michael B.

Name is very misleading, thought the food was terrible compared to the place we normally go. Customer service was great though, dont think I ever saw the bottom of my glass.

An Asian buffet is a lot like pizza or sex in that, even when it's not that great, it's really not THAT bad. So we'll apply that here. The bad: first off, the NAME. This might be one of the worst-named businesses ever, and this comes from someone who has been to the Meet Rack. I could forgive an ill-conceived name if the food made up for it. It doesn't. What do you expect from a buffet, I guess? This ain't Vegas. The food was just okay. I think I enjoyed the sushi and the garlic shrimp the most. The shrimp had a nice kick and texture to it. Everything else kind of tasted the same: like salt. You can build your own hibachi, which I should have taken advantage of, but once I figured that out I was already 2 plates in to the purgatory of Gluttony, and in no shape for a 3rd plate. The place seemed clean enough. Service was prompt and very courteous. Also, at around $7 for lunch, the price is right. I probably wouldn't go back anytime soon, because I don't particularly enjoy stuffing myself (I say 'probably' because my boyfriend does enjoy stuffing himself, so we might be back). Personally, I think the next time I want Asian food, I'll just head over to Guilin Chinese or Miss Saigon for some pho. But I guess if you're REALLY HUNGRY and low on cash, this is worth considering.

It will be a long time before I come back, if ever, to try them a third time. This last time, I had a hard time finding something to eat. Most of my usual favorites from an Asian buffet were simply not there. No fried shrimp or fish. The beef with broccoli was all broccoli; I didn't see any beef. The sesame seed chicken was bland. The BBQ pork was ok, but really weird. I didn't care for the miniature spring rolls. It wasn't until my wife built me a custom bowl to be grilled by order that I was finally fed a little bit. With the closing of China A and the food quality declining at New Town Buffet in Marana, I will continue to make the trek across town to the New China Super Buffet on Wilmot,

Used to kinda like it, last night the one on wilmont was terrible, no meat in the dishes hardly, no juices, everything seemed old and dried out even the watermelon slices, I will not go back. The only thing they had a lot of was rice and noodles. There are rolls but no sushi, rolls weren't covered so they were all dried out. Never again.. Terrible food..

  • Jennifer F.

I have to say that this is by far the best Chinese buffet I have been to in town. Everything is fresh and there are so many choices! I love that for dinner they have steamed clams! The reason I give this 4 stars is because the bathroom is DISGUSTING! It smells and is very dirty.

    (4)
  • Joshua L.

I have to say, there was quite a variety offered here. Definitely 'oriental', not 'Chinese' buffet, as some have referred to it. Custom..though somewhat limited Pho, Hibachi... Sushi...somewhat standard offerings..or rather "sushi for dummys", but they did sneak a few tasty samplings out there.

Went with my family after a hike up to Kimball peak. Everyone was ravenous and decided to give this spot a go. There was a big variety of dishes but I mainly got the sushi in the sushi bar. The sushi was fresh and pretty good for the price if the buffet. The servers also refilled our water pretty consistently a pretty big deal for me when going to a buffet. I'd definitely go back for some mountains of sushi and ice cream. The only bad part of my experience is that getting oyster sauce was a hassle and consisted of badgering the busy sushi chef with getting you some.

  • Joey Y.

If it was possible to leave zero stars, I would. My 8 year old, 6 year old and an 18 months old, all hated all of the food. Me and my husband disliked everything that we tried. Being hungry didn't help. The place is clean and has good service. The name is stupid.

Power Eaters will rejoice over this place! Heap your plate over and over with every deep fried concoction you can imagine, all covered in sauce. Steam trays spilling over with sticky orange chicken, salty broccoli beef, deep fried wan tons, prefab pizza, french fries, corn, rice, dinner rolls, deep fried chicken wings, and lot and lots of well cooked vegetables. If you take buffet eating seriously, don't arrive early because the first set of pans full of food look like hot leftovers from last night. The broccoli beef looked like old stew and the sliced pork in red sauce (BBQ pork?) was tooth breaking hard from being so old, as was the Hawaiian chicken. If the food was fresher I would have given it 3 stars. The sushi was interesting, what I thought was a California roll turned out to be a big chunk of celery wrapped with white rice. The egg drop soup was horrific, don't go near it. The Hibachi grill was closed and along with it was the desert bar. It's fairly standard with chocolate pudding, cake cubes, tapioca, etc. The chopped bananas in red sauce (BBQ?) , I passed on. Two trips were enough for me, especially after watching a client eat directly from the pans. Don't look shocked if you see Honey Boo-Boo's family walk in.

The Chinese buffet food is average, but love the sushi bar. Great value if you love sushi.

Hehehe seriously I laugh every single time I hear the name of this buffet. We came here after going to the Biosphere yes on Christmas Eve. You know my parents were in town, we were driving, my husband was famished, the kids were chanting we want food, and we decided to pull on it at U Like Oriental Buffet it seemed that it would be easy! And it was! It is exactly what you imagine it to be. Lots and lots of entrees, sushi, hibachi grill, and odd desserts. I wouldn't say this is the most amazing Chinese food, what I would say is every now and again when you find yourself at a buffet this one just isn't too bad!

This U like is a lot more busy compared to the one on Broadway. Funny thing is both locations use to be Hometown Buffett's

    (3)
  • Andrea G.

Gary (part of my "dining trio") and I met two friends here to try the new place. It just opened in the last week or so. It used to be a Hometown Buffet. The entrance boasts a pretty and very large fountain with water flowing down an etched glass wall. Nice effect. The asthetics definitely beat the Hometown Buffet layout and design! The ambiance is open and comfortable, with a nice Chinese flair. I noticed a few small side rooms for more private groups. The servers are friendly and eager to serve. The restaurant features numerous buffet stations, with food choices for everyone. That also includes a sushi station. large salad bar, and Mongolian BBQ station (I didn't try the latter). It's all-you-can-eat, so come hungry (and for you dieters, set your boundaries!). The food was decent and was very similar to other Chinese buffet restaurants in Tucson. Did anything stand out? You can get some unique or more costly entrees or salads on the buffet such as small octopus, mussels, shrimp, and some of the sushi items (which featured both cooked and raw items). You have loads of entree choices: numerous fried and sauteed items, and a few cheesy ones. They offer a variety of soups and noodles. They offered a very moist killer-good lemon cake, and an excellent, fresh-baked apple strudel pastry (that I've seen at other buffets), among many other desserts. TIP: Seniors, ask for your discount. 10% for those wrinkles--I mean years of life experience. You gotta find justice in getting old and that's one of the benies. TIP2: If you get the hot tea, find out if you can get it lighter or a different type (such as Jasmine?). I was served a black tea, very well steeped and strong enough to curl your hair! NOTE ABOUT MSG: One of my friends who joined us has very strict, specific diet restrictions (gluten and MSG, for example). She grilled the management about the food; most of the dishes contain MSG. Bummer. Of course, many restaurants use MSG. So be careful if you have sensitivities. My friend was told that they prepared a few salads and entrees without MSG, so you'll find a few options. Our experience was pleasant, easy parking and fast service.

U Like Buffet? Me no usually like buffet unless I'm in Vegas, but this one was pretty decent. Usually I would never review a buffet. That would be like reviewing your local MVD. You know it's gonna be the same as every other one and you know its gonna waste your time, but this one was a little better than the rest. After driving by this place 1,000 times a year for the past two years I thought I'd finally give it a shot. The main thing that stood out as better than the rest of the run of the mill buffets in Tucson was the sushi bar. They actually use real fish on some of the rolls. They had rainbow rolls (among others) and even a Jalapeño cream cheese roll. A Philly Mexican? I don't know, but it was good. Of course any buffet in Tucson is gonna have lots of the same exact stuff, but the other stuff besides the sushi was also pretty decent. They had fried plantains that were excellent. The orange chicken was good and crispy. The baked seafood was tasty and the Japanese chicken was tender. So all in all. Me like this buffet and me probably return in the near future.

This is just another typical low class buffet. There is no pride in what is served. Food is mediocre to poor. Sesame Chicken tasted like they just poured pancake syrup on it. Sesame chicken should be spicy and sweet. Orange Chicken tasted almost the same as sesame chicken. Honey Glazed Chicken was hard and too sweet. Chicken wings were over fried but were hard from being left in the pan for so long. Fried Rice. What Fried rice? It has no flavor unless you smother it in soy sauce to try to give it flavor. Sweet and sour chicken was actually alright. It was the only thing I felt safe eating. The food at this buffet is EXACTLY like the buffet called "New Town Buffet" in Marana. Must be owned by the same people. The sushi is not great either. Not very fresh. Deserts are no better. The appearance of some food just didn't look good. Food is just thrown together and slopped in the serving trays with no care. Unfortunately, this is the quality and attitude with most buffet restaurants in Tucson. Try a buffet in another city like Phoenix and you will see a very different and better quality at more places. Server was nice but kept coming to our table too much. They act like you might skip out on them. Made us feel a little uncomfortable. Lunch was about 7.99 a plate for adults (not including drinks). We will go get fast food next time rather than pay to eat sub-par food. If you like low expectations, then I recommend this restaurant. Wish I could say something better but just can't.

The buffet has a good selection. By far, the frogs legs will make you jump... in disgust or in joy, you decide.

The food was pretty good, I love the cheesy-crab mixture, taste great and wish every Chinese buffet had it. Waitress was great, even made me laugh by saying "U-like?" at the end of our dinner. Food was warm but I didn't care for the stuff they fried for you. Desserts not so hot either. Over good purchase though.

My wife and I decided to give U-Like on Wilmot a try. We were almost stopped from entering as the grounds and the entry way were not very clean. Once inside we were very surprised to find very clean and well maintained facility. The food was fresh and more to choose from than either my wife or I could try in only one visit. Overall we were very pleased to dine here and will recommend to our friends. We will return and hopefully the owners will have addressed the outside.

Normally I'm not a buffet person unless I'm prepared with stretchy pants and Tums... But I actually liked this place. I'm all about presentation and they were very clearn, nice new place so everything is still in good condition, no stains on the floor or dirty bathrooms yet. The many buffets were well stocked and everything was pretty tasty. The sushi was mostly smaller rolls but still good, and the hibachi is cool too. Since my fiance can eat for days I think we will definitely go back.

  • Steve N.

If you are a "buffet" person this place is not for you. Waiting is not a problem since half of the restaurant is empty. Most of the food are salty and dried from being left out to long. The sushi bar only has 3-4 plates of sushi and none are fried. Only seafood there were clams and fried crabs... no crab legs and crayfish :(. The service here is horrible... no one came to refill our drinks and not once came to ask how our food was. When I came to clams a women working there stare at me until I went to my table, the second time she stared at me again and then whisper something to her co-worker. We had to go to the cashier to pay our checks since no one was in sight. The name does not suit the food.

I waited over a year (an entire YEAR!) to try this place. My husband hates buffets and I wanted to try it because several other Chinese buffets have closed down. Plus, I'd seen the commercial recently and it made me hungry. My husband finally caved and we tried this place. It was pretty much like any other buffet, but a lot of the dishes were hot (something we find a lot of places don't have when we're there and that's why he hates going). One thing I really liked was that they had inari on the sushi bar. I think for that alone, I'll probably be back. Plus, there was a scoop-your-own-icecream set up. Not sure if that's a selling point, but I liked it. There were a couple rude teenagers, but that's not the restaurant's fault, that's just crappy parenting. Also, we avoided the bathrooms at the suggestion (and much to the hesitation of even eating here by my husband when I told him) of everyone who wrote about this place before me. So, I can't tell you anything about the bathrooms.

This might be the best Chinese-style buffet in town, if only for the sheer choices that it offers - from Pho, to Mongolian BBQ, to Sushi, to Ice Cream, to more traditional Chinese fare. Servers are prompt and friendly. Food is of consistent quality. I don't feel like I'm eating something strange or dangerous. What more can I say?

I found a new replacement for Panda Buffet; U-Like is even better though! So many shrimp dishes, good salmon sashimi (thought the tuna was gross), Thai tea, pho, sesame chicken, Korean seafood/flour/egg pancake, other Korean side dishes, amazing vanilla ice cream (not sure why it is so good - not too sugary). $9.99 for dinner buffet. I would try it out! Loved how the hot food was really hot.

Have visited both the Oracle and Wilmot locations. Have had wonderful, and attentive service during all my occasions from the servers, especially when I spilled my egg drop soup on my lap (probably one of the most embarrassing experiences ever cause I happened to have been dining by myself lol.) I am a Chinese buffet lover, and at U Like Buffet, the food, especially the Hibachi Grill, and service have really impressed me more than the other buffets in town :-) They have a nice selection of sushi, and I am in love with their cheese stuffed mussels on half shells. Really like the CLEAN environment that both the Wilmot and Oracle locations present. IDK about the Wilmot location, but I know that the Oracle location offers made to order PHO, next to the Hibachi Grill, both included in the initial price. One complaint I have was when I ordered the made to order Hibachi, I didn't have any cash to tip the cook, and after the grumpy chef made my food, I thanked him kindly. He didn't even respond/look at me, so I'm guessing he was even more upset that I didn't tip. As a server for nearly 6 years, I have been taught through my experience to always thank even the non tippers, because you must not personalize the fact that some ppl don't tip in the industry. Restaurants still wwnt the business from even the non tippers, who may eventually tip on adifferent occasion, so all gueets must be polite in order to cater to all the guests. I tipped my server an extra big tip at the end of my meal and asked her to give part of the tip to the Hibachi cook. Despite the cooks rude attitude, I am still very happy with my overall experience at U Like Buffet, and still hold my belief that they should change the restaurant name to U LOVE BUFFET.
