Oh my. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was so good! And the customer service is great

I needed a cheap but tasty lunch. The Fix was perfect. The worst part of my visit was deciding what to get. I had no idea how many ways mac and cheese could be made! I settled on the chili mac which was the right balance of cheese sauce and chili. The pasta was perfectly cooked, not too soggy. The owner was extremely friendly without being overbearing, and kept checking to see if everyone was happy with their food, even during a busy lunch rush. If you are a mac and cheese fan, this is your home in Arizona. Bubba sez git some!

Sandwich lettuce was old and gross. The tall fat guy that works there had to go smoke outside during business hours which is pretty disgusting considering he works in the back. Edit: employees smoking around customer's eating, especially even an employee that works in the back, should be refrained from because it makes a little sense. Edit 2: Please see review below about people warning a patron not to eat there because of getting sick. And yes, I did say big fat guy. Blah blah blah, courage! Give me a break with that bs

I'm going to preface my less-than-stellar review of The Fix by admitting I spent well over an hour before heading there on Yelp hoping to find somewhere to have a Croque Monsieur. When I struck out on that, I hit the "comfort food" link on Yelp and The Fix was one of the top results. After looking over their menu and photos from fellow Yelpers, I thought I might have found cheesy nirvana. Alas, I was so disappointed in the Bacon Bacon Mac & Cheese that I threw most of it away. It was really just kind of flavorless, and I don't understand why. It had tons of bacon, but I honestly wasn't picking up a bacon flavor. Worse, I wasn't tasting the cheese! And finally, the macaroni itself was way overcooked. The three stars I am awarding are for the service and the Cuban sandwich. The guy who took my order was super helpful when I told him it was my first visit. When I mentioned I had come for the mac & cheese but was now torn because of a new sandwich offering (a Cuban), he suggested I get a combo. I'm so glad I did, even though the Cuban wasn't really a Cuban (the pork really shouldn't have BBQ sauce and it threw the whole thing off), but it was flavorful and perfectly toasted on lovely bread. So I may come back for another sandwich sometime, but I'll give the mac & cheese a wide berth.

Came in for lunch and had a hard time choosing from the menu. Lots of things sounded good but I went with the cabbie which consisted of macaroni, Alfredo sauce, chicken and bacon! How could you go wrong right!? Wrong. I was disappointed with the flavor of this choice. Overall the noodles were cooked fine and the bacon was delish but there was just something lacking from this. If I do happen to return I will probably go with something else not Alfredo related. Not a good first experience but I would give them another chance. Portion sizes are huge by the way so if you're not super hungry consider sharing.

I am a huge mac n cheese fan and this is the place! Their mac n cheese is very very cheesy but might be a bit salty for some people. Don't afraid to give it a try!

  • Jeffrey L.

Very good place with a good variety of Mac n cheese and Alfredo. Was very pleased with the service and the food. It's kind of hidden by other stores. But it's a must have . The price is pretty cheap as well so that's good if you are on a budget .

Don't come to The Fix unless you're planning on ordering mac and cheese. I made the mistake of ordering some kind of sandwich and it was mediocre beyond belief. So mediocre that I can't even remember which sandwich it was. But the mac and cheese that I stole from my guy and my daughter (shameless) was the real deal. Homey. Gooey. Comforting. Delicious. Everything I wanted a mac and cheese to be. The decor is cute and the staff is friendly. The shop is a little off the main road so you won't see the entrance from the street. Trust your map app, park where you can, and make the short walk. It will be so worth it once you're chowing down.

  • Lindsay N.

Heavenly. Delicious. The cheesiness (and Barq's red cream soda among the fountain drinks) brought me right back to my happy childhood in Wisconsin and I will be coming back here whenever I need some seriously delicious comfort food. Whoever designed that menu is a genius and I can't wait to try the other stuff out.

The Fix has quickly become my husband and I's go to place. I haven't tried a mac & cheese here that I didn't like! It is always so fresh and delicious and I usually have left overs which is great! The price is also affordable. I would def. recommend this place!

    (5)
  • Coley A.

I didn't particularly like it due to how much salt was in my pasta bowl. (I like MUCH LESS salt in my food than most people) But the guy at the front noticed I wasn't eating much of the food and asked if I wanted to try something else free of charge. Any time a company cares enough about satisfying its customers in this manner, you have my respect and my five stars.

  • Cherée E.

This is the real deal. All options are Mac and cheese, which we love. You can really personalize your own Mac and cheese bowl to your likings. It could be a little creamier but still very delicious. I had the white Mac and cheese with jalapeños and it was a perfect combination. The service was great and so helpful.

This brings me back to my college years and I was craving Mac n Cheese. Big Jesse was patient and gave me time to decide what I wanted. I decided to make my own - cheddar, broccoli, bell pepper with lobster. I call it Sea to Farm. I'll definitely be back.

  • Cristina R.

You say you have had the best Mac and cheese but if you haven't tried it here, then you haven't! They are seriously delicious! Tried the chili Mac and it was heaven Ina bowl with a perfectly golden melty sauce yum! You only need one serving, it may seem like it's not much but I could barely finish mine.

They were friendly and helpful. The space was clean. The food was delicious - especially the gluten free noodles.

  • Geary M.

The Mac & Chz was excellent . I had the Enchilada style. Arlene had the Gluten free mac and it was just as good. I highly recommend

Where was this place when I was a student at the University? There are a lot of new food options next to the campus since my days, and if The Fix is any indication, it's a good time to be a student. Their extensive menu highlights macaroni and cheese with all imaginable mix-ins, and while I'm sure it had other items as well, I didn't make it past the pasta. I ordered the 3 Little Pigs -- mac and cheese with bacon, bratwurst, and pulled pork. The portion that arrived was huge, and my weeks-long craving for creamy macaroni and cheese finally came to an end. It was A Mountain of perfect noodles, delicious cheddar, and limitless pork three ways. I didn't care as much for the pulled pork in there, although it certainly wasn't bad. It made the whole dish a little bit sweet, and I enjoyed that it didn't taste as salty as I expected with bacon and pulled pork. My experience in the restaurant was great: the walls were brightly colored, with unusual art including tilted mirrors and mac&cheese Internet memes. This decor combined with the macaroni and cheese theme made the whole place feel super-modern. Its setting next to a college campus seems fitting, although this also becomes its primary flaw for the rest of us: Parking in this area is limited, and it isn't cheap. The street has meter spaces that are frequently full, and the adjacent lot costs $5 to park. Still, the food was excellent. Next time I'm in the area, I would be happy to stop in and try another absurdist creation. The best part is that for your $7 to $10, you get enough for two meals. And I think everybody knows how good pasta tastes out of the microwave the next day!

  • Cedechan J.

Honestly? Mediocre. It took way too long for the food to come out- and when it did? I find it eh. I got the half BLT sandwich with the All American Mac n cheese, and here's what I though. BLT: bacon was over cooked- almost burned and the bread a tad dry. The Mac? It's okay. There is way too much black pepper in it so I'm having a hard time tasting the cheese. The cheese! That's the main ingredient and I can barely taste it. At this point it's just empty calories and not really worth it. I think I'd give it another chance, just order something different.

    (3)
  • Greg D.

Pretty darn good. I usually come for mac and cheese, haven't tried anything else. Menu needs some streamlining, but what can you say, they appear to be experimenting. I'll be coming back for more.

  • David H.

3.5 stars. This place is a mac and cheese mecca, with dozens of permutations of mac and cheese. I have to judge mac and cheese by straight up mac and cheese without additional flavors- and it was REALLY good, but not transcendant. Also had the bacon flavor, which was even better, but I give most of the credit to the bacon here... Bacon definitely has that magic effect on most dishes.

  • Ann R.

Had some good ole' hearty Mac n Chz while we were here last Friday! I got the Bacon, Bacon and my sis got the Alfredo Mac n Chz - they were just so yummy, you can upgrade to "Major" for $4 more I believe, but the normal serving size is just right so I wouldn't upgrade unless you're stark raving mad hungry!! (Or sharing for 2 lol!) Their Mac n Chz is very creamy, the top they add more cheese, broil it to melt and crisp up some, and the combination of it all just makes my mouth water while thinking about it! While waiting for our food their walls are lined with meme photo canvases, all talking about Mac n Chz and the many things you can eat with it, they were fun to read! I would not mind coming back here when I'm in Tucson again :)

For Michael There is nothing for you to address unless you are praising them. The service time was well within the 6-8 minutes and the people were awesome. I simply encounter a personality that caught me off guard. Turned out to be a great guy that I would gladly have serve me again. Great job all around.

  • Matthew D.

Saw the reviews and thought I'd give it a try. While waited for our food, passers by warned us not to eat there because you won't be feeling well after. We figured they were just being annoying. Do we carried on. Our food arrived and mine was actually somewhat cold. Pretty disappointing. The taste wasn't too bad, but also nothing great. Then came after. Both my friend and I didn't feel so well pretty quickly after we left. We will not be going back. Guess the girls that warned us were right.

How is it that mac & cheese is one of my favorite foods, I've lived in Tucson for almost 3 years and just discovered The Fix this weekend?! Something is very, very wrong with that. We went here before attending some Homecoming festivities, and out of all the fun stuff that happened this weekend, the Big Jesse was a definite highlight! Erik & I spilt that pulled pork, BBQ sauce, green chili, cheesy goodness. And similarly to when I first met, Erik it was love at first sight (errrrr. bite.). Cheesy (harr harrrr) jokes aside, I will have to make up for lost time at this mac & cheese heaven!

    (5)
  • Crystal D.

Omg delicious!! If I could eat here everyday I would!!!! I like my mac-n-cheese with steak, tomato, and bell peppers. I always ask them to run it through twice so my cheese is EXTRA crispy! Love love love this place!!! The Greek and Enchilada are another of my fav. I like trying their monthly creations too.

The Fix has been on my 'To Try' list since it opened, and after finally stopping in yesterday I'm already planning my return. If Willie Wonka ever started a mac and cheese side business, it would look like The Fix. I have never seen so many imaginative and downright delicious sounding options for mac and cheese. Plus, not only can you make your own concoction, but make suggestions for other things you would like seen on the menu. It was hard to choose, but thankfully the staff there was great about suggesting their favorites and putting up with my inability to decide. I finally settled on the meat lovers with a garden salad combo and was happy with every single creamy, cheesy bite that was smothered in beef, bacon and bratwurst. Seriously, this thing was so decadent and filling that I wound up saving over half of my minor portion to savor later. I was glad to have a nice, light salad to finish up with. The only negative thing I have to say about this place was that they forgot to put the avocado on my salad. I'd gotten this to go, and while there were no avocados when I opened it up at work, they'd slipped a BOGO half off coupon in the bag so that was a nice surprise. Also, as a side note, big props to the owners for their commitment to community interaction! I've loved following everything they're posting on Facebook and here. They definitely have shown they're more than willing to listen and make changes for their customers. Keep it up! :)

  • Kay Y.

Reasonable-sized portions for the price they offer it for! Tastes amazing and you can really specify it to your own taste with the wide selection of items they have on their menu. The only thing negative is that your order might take a little longer than expected depending on the amount of customers they have.

  • Donna W.

If you check in on Yelp, you get 10% off and if you check in and like them on Facebook, you get a free cookie. I had the garden salad and lobster mac and cheese. The food was pretty bland but this is a nice place to hang out with friends.

  • Richa S.

Unimaginative for being a place that's supposed to have diff types of mac n cheese. I had the Caprese mac n cheese which had no tomatoes or basil in it. Meh. The outside was golden baked and crispy and the inside was a bit on the watery side. It was good but inconsistent in ideal temperature cooked in. The service is good for a fast quick bite type of place. I'll go here again probably just because I like cheese that much. I wish they offered grilled cheese too or mac and cheese grilled cheese. That would make me a happy little schoolgirl.

  • Barbi T.

It is so refreshing to have a mac and cheese place that is consistent. All four of us at the table had top notch dishes! Yummy! I cannot wait to go back. A bit off the beaten track but well worth the search. Thank you the Fix.

I had the special: the Cubano grilled cheese sandwich. It was awesome. Just a little pricey. Friendly service. I'll be back.

There was a period of months where my man love and I went here every weekend for date night. It is amazing. So many varieties of one of my favorite foods in the entire world (that's macaroni and cheese if you re a little behind here). Mike, Jesse and the rest of the staff are always warm and engaging, and also very creative with the menu. They're always open to ideas. You. Will love it.

  • Ray H.

I had the lobster mac and my girlfriend ordered the cheddar bacon ranch. It was like heaven in a bowl of mac and cheese. There's no need to elaborate. Not to mention, they also feature yummy soft drinks and awesome beer and there's memes for wall art. How can you not love a place like this? At this point, I'd say The Fix has a place in my world wide top five.

    (5)
  • Kitty F.

OMG!!!! This place is amazing! I had the caprese mac and cheese and it was to die for amazing! The service was friendly and the food came out quickly and hot with a nice layer of crispy cheese on top. If mac and cheese isn't your thing, they also have sandwiches and salads, but I would definitely recommend the pasta!

Yum Mac-N-Chez. What else is there to say. Got the Bratwurst in major size. Enough for a 2nd meal

Wow....the reviews were so good, I just knew this was going to be fantastic. Not so much. I picked this spot to have a working lunch with my co-workers. I was CRAVING comfort food. I was so disappointed that this provided anything but comfort. Now granted, this review is from a woman who grew up around cooks from the South who can cook real mac and cheese in their sleep! The consistency of the mac and cheese was all things wrong. Throwing lots of cheddar cheese on top of really watery cheese and noodles unfortunately doesn't make it cheddar mac and cheese! Oy vey! I wanted to love the lobster mac & cheese so badly. Especially since the lobster was the real thing and not imitation lobster. As hungry as I was, I just couldn't make myself choke more than half of my dish down. I eventually gave up and just picked out the lobster. I was with two co-workers. One had the soup and salad. She really enjoyed both. The other co-worker had mac & cheese with chicken & jalapeños. She said she wasn't too crazy about her food either but she ate all of it because she was so hungry. They earned an extra star from me for having a 10% Yelp discount for checking in and the red cream soda fountain drink!

  • Jeffrey T.

After three visits I had to conclude that I would not return. After having three different dishes I have left every time feeling like something was missing. Nothing was bad, it just wasn't a creamy, mouth-watering experience that leaves me wanting more and regretting the amount I have already eaten. Something about the way they prep the food and then heat it up makes it feel like a microwaveable frozen dinner plate.

I friggin love this place! I've wanted to try this place out for a long time but location isn't the most convenient for me since I'm rarely down by the U of A area around meal time, but today I was able to stop by. After much debating I decided on the Caprese which is made with cream cheese , mozzarella, tomatoes and topped with basil. I'll tell you what, I'm a HUGE mac and cheese fan and this is probably one of the best I've ever had anywhere. Also a pleasant surprise they serve beer and wine and at 3:00 they start happy hour and they go on sale for half price. I came in at five till and the lady working the counter (turned out to be the owner) told me if I was willing to wait the five minutes for the beer I would be able to get it at happy hour. I appreciated the honesty, most people would go for the quick buck and let me stay ignorant. I rewarded her honesty with buying two beers ;-) The owner and the rest of the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, since it was an off time I was one of the few people in there and I talked to several of them. I mentioned that it was my first time there and how much I enjoyed my meal but how hard it was to decide which one to choose since they all sounded so good. A few minutes later the owner came out with a sample of one of her favorites the Cabbie (bacon & chicken in Alfredo sauce) another winner. I had meant to save half of my meal to take hometown my bf so he could taste how incredible it was but the longer I sat there finishing my beer the more noodles I picked at justifying that it was just one more noodle and he wouldn't miss it. Needles to say his half is significantly smaller than he'd probably like it to be. Oh well, me and my happy belly can live with that.

Saw the reviews on Yelp and decided to check in out. Was NOT disappointed! Sister had the caprese, mom had the cheeseburger and I had the lobster. Delicious. Very friendly people who explained the delicious menu options. Really clean ladies room was a plus. Definitely will be back when we visit Tucson again

  • Duy N.

This place is pretty good. I got the Big Jesse. Cheddar pulled pork, Chile Verde, barbecue sauce. It fits that comfort food niche. Very friendly service. They even told me if I didn't like it I could order something else for free. Not needed.

  • Lindsay H.

A friend bought a few different dishes and shared them with my family, every single one was delicious! My personal favorite was the Big Jesse but the other ones were also amazing. Pasta is not usually my first choice when eating out, but the Mac and cheese, with the other ingredients mixed in, was so good! I will definitely go back!

The absolute best take out service I've ever had. People are friendly and the food was delicious. I had the lobster Mac and cheese it was the best macaroni and cheese I've had. I'm definitely going back, plus it's on university which makes it super accessibile Check this place out!

Im visiting Tucson for the week and decided to try something new. When i walked in and saw the variety of mac n cheese dishes, I was AMAZED. This place is definitely a mac n cheese lover's dream! I had the buffalo chicken mac n cheese and my brother had the caprese mac n cheese and both were DELICIOUS! The cheese is the perfect consistency, not too watery like velveeta cheese but not dry either. I often find the consistency of the cheese sauce to the most important part of making a great mac n cheese dish. When I first got my portion I thought it was small but each forkful is a burst of a delicious blend of cheeses and portion size definitely more than enough. I couldn't finish it because it was so filling. It is definitely worth the price too, which is already pretty low. Both dishes also had very distinct and delicious tastes, which was something i was apprehensive about because since its all mac n cheese, i thought maybe it would taste delicious but all similar at the end. They also have a small but good variety of alcoholic drinks which are priced at a very reasonable price. I also loved the service. Mike was really nice and friendly. He was so helpful in helping me decide what I wanted which is a big thing for me since I'm so indecisive and he was very patient. He is great about making a bowl of mac n cheese however you want it and will mix it up and make something thats not on the menu or add something to give it a taste you would love. It's like they offer a personalized bowls of mac n cheese. I really think very few places offer the great high-quality service that this place offers. Lastly the decorations were awesome and really made the space a great place to eat and hang out with company. There are so many hilarious memes hanging all over the walls and it really creates an inviting and fun atmosphere that all in all really makes the dining experience not just great because of the food but overall enjoying. I definitely walked out with a full tummy and a big smile!

Full disclosure: I have not yet tried the mac n' cheese. Yes, yes, I know. I went in for a salad. It was actually quite good, though the lettuce was cut too large in some sections. But it was around $7. That's far too, too expensive for a simple salad. But the place was packed, and from what I've heard the mac n' cheese is pretty amazing. I'll try something from the main spotlight menu one of these days.

  • Mark A.

Mixed feelings on the place, there is a lot of food on the tin foil pie pan. At first it was really good, then it became to be one note, but not bad. The staff was friendly and the food came out quick. I will be back, but not that much because it is a heart attack on a plate, I would not even want to know how many calories I ingested. My suggestion would be to split a plate and order a salad.

I had seen some promising reviews on this place off of University and was lucky to organize some friends who were all trying The Fix for the first time. This place offers comfort food pure n simple, mac-n-cheese, grilled cheese sandwiches, salads and soup. Also is a fridge with a selection of beer, wine, iced coffee, power drinks, water and lemonade, in addition to a fountain beverage machine. Two of our party of four ordered the Big Jessie; Classic Cheddar cheese, Green Chili, Pulled Pork and (topped with) BBQ sauce. Also at our table was ordered the Lobster; Classic Cheddar, Lobster and swiss with a lemon on top. Lastly was ordered the Greek(the special of the day); gyro, feta, tomato topped with tzatziki sauce (WIN WIN WIN). I believe all four of us enjoyed our meal and the Greek special was amazing. The staff were excited to hear what we wanted to order, because they know this place offers something special. Several times we were approached by staff to ask if we liked our meals. When ordering you get a regular sized portion which is a minor( 3 cups I'm guessing of mac n cheese and for three dollars more you get an Major sized portion( which appeared to be crazy too much; however I think they are imagining you'll share with a friend or take it home to feed your family; 5-6 cups). The inside eating area was bright and open, with tables and chairs and the front had a long tall counter with stools. The place as nice restrooms with a single room restroom for men and a single room restroom for ladies. I expect to return very soon, the only issue is that everything looked so good and the prospect of choosing between a grilled cheese double bacon sandwich verses a Alfredo with bacon and avocado.....it's going to be tough deciding what to order.

I guess I had a bad first experience; second time was much better. The first time I came in, I had some customer service and the mac n cheese issue. Second time I came in, because one of the owners wanted to make it up to me, it was much better. Because I went vegetarian for awhile, I went with the vegetarian mac and it was delicious. It was not as burnt as the first time I had so I can safely say I finish the small one. Sad thing was, they did not have the cookie or offered it because that was my favorite part. I had this to-go so I can't say much on the service but the cashier was expecting me and the owner had so much patience with me as I kept canceling and rescheduling when to come back so A for being patient. Anyway, I will come back to this one, unlike the first time, I hope it was not all a stage act and that they are this friendly and the food is always delicious to others.

Mac and Cheese coma!!! There were three of us and we shared 5 small portion mac and cheese dishes. We got 2 of the Buffalo Chicken, the Big Jesse, Fire Alarm, and the Shut Yo' Mouth. I loved all but the Big Jesse. I did not like the BBQ sauce but did like the green chile and pulled pork in it. It was plenty of food for the three of us and we all felt stuffed and happy. The staff were helpful, friendly, and gave us tips on how to make our first experience enjoyable. They suggested we do the combo fix so we could try multiple mac and cheeses without regret. And by the way...go for the Wildcat cookie... it's delicious.

This was wonderful!! This was our first trip and despite it being Homecoming weekend and everything by campus being crazy we received excellent service and our food was awesome! I had Lobster mac and cheese and my friend had gluten free Alfredo with chorizo and jalapeños. We will so be back!

After tasting the deliciousness of similar macaroni-centered restaurants across the country, I was a little disappointed in the quality of even their original Mac n cheese. While their creative flavor combinations are a plus, they are no substitute for a quality base.

Love The Fix! Mike has it all goin' on, from superb customer service and that happy noodley joy. We were a large, loud posse of high maintenance peeps from 11 - 82, vegetarian/gluten free to voracious omnivores. I had a jalapeño/sausage mac and cheese bowl and polished that sucker off, although I needed two hands and oven mits to lift it when served. We had a birthday girl in tow, and Mike trotted out the crew to sing. Heart, soul, and some of the best max and cheese offerings in town to be had at The Fix!

Um, yes please. For all of it. I'll just take one of everything, ok? Thanks. The Fix has an impressive menu of mac and cheese, grilled cheese and other items, but really, why would you come for anything else?! I heard about the lobster mac, and ran over the next day. They had a special mac of the day called the "Shut Yo' Mouth" (which you must order with a gangster accent), and I ended up ordering with the jalapeno popper grilled cheese sandwich. My friend ordered the lobster mac. You even get a cookie on the side. Holla!! The SYM was out of the this world delicious! Oh wooooow. And the jalapeno popper sandwich? Why haven't other places thought of this - why haven't I thought of making this?! It was incredible. I wasn't as impressed with the lobster mac, but probably because I had it built up in my mind as extraordinarily heavenly. It was good though, very good. When my friend offered me the leftovers, I gladly took them! The service is hit-or-miss, and the interior is so typical of somewhere just off a college campus. Since I'm not in college, I wasn't impressed with that. They do take the Cat Card though, which I thought was really cool. If I went to the U of A, I'd be there every damn day getting fat and happy.

The place for Mac and Cheese! Upbeat servers, quick service, and great food. The special mac and Cheese was steak, onion, truffle oil Alfredo and it was so good. I am not even a fan of Alfredo in most cases.

Came here while visiting the University of Arizona. Although the restaurant's specialty is mac and cheese, I decided the order the club sandwich, while I shared the Big Jessie mac and cheese with a friend. I found my sandwich to be fresh, and the mac and cheese was just as I expected it to be, cheesy and comforting. The staff was extremely friendly, and ensured that my party was satisfied with the food. The staff even gave my party tips on things to do in Tucson.

I have absolutely nothing but good things to say about the fix. The first time I came here was for a percentage night for a club I'm in and boy did they make an impression. They have an amazing selection of food. Their Mac and cheese recipes are so incredibly unique and tasty. The service is impeccable. Almost every time I have gone to the Fix I have been helped by Mike (I think he may be the owner) and he's great! He always makes suggestions and unlike most places he figures out the cheapest way to ring up my food. Every week they have a new recipe which is really cool! The inside of the restaurant is so clean and you can tell they work hard at it the decor is golden the memes on the wall are always funny. When you get the Mac and cheese you're going to think the portion is super small but trust me you will not finish it. Well I could go on forever about this place but I'll spare you. If you haven't tried the Fix go!

Passing through Tucson, and needed a family friendly place to grab a quick dinner. Mac and Cheese headquarters, the Fix, caught my eye as the perfect place. The mac and cheese is delicious and portioned well. I got the half lobster mac and cheese and a buffalo chicken salad. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the salad more! My dad enjoyed his stuffed ham and cheese sandwich, while my sisters scarfed down their custom made mac's. The only problem we ran in to was a little miscommunication while ordering. We were charged 20 dollars too much; however, the cashier was apologetic and refunded us the money. All in all, pretty good place to grab some mac and cheese!

It's strange. They bill themselves as a mac and cheese place, however I feel that their sandwiches and salads are actually better than the mac and cheese. My one friend swears by the jalepeno mac and cheese. I have never tried it but the ones I have have been just okay. Their salads however are large and delicious. I just had a buffalo chicken and I was thoroughly pleased.Their veggie sandwich is excellent too. I like their variety of drinks (both alcoholic and non alcoholic). Service is always friendly, though it usually takes a little bit of time. I like the fix and we keep it in our lunch rotation, though I am not racing to return every week.

AMAZING mac and cheese! I got the Cabbie which is bacon and chicken alfredo and my dad got a jalepeño popper with bacon. Sooo good! Not to mention the service is super friendly. Great place! Definately coming back!

Had the 1/2 sandwich and salad with the classic mac+cheese and vegetable salad. The salad was good, nothing special; the mac and cheese was really good! Even though it was a half portion, I was actually surprised at how big the portion was. It was filling too. I would definitely go back to try some of their specialty mac+cheeses when I'm in the mood for it. The pricing here is pretty comparable to any other similar eatery- chipotle or paradise bakery.

We stopped in here for lunch and decided to order the large size portions so we could take leftovers home to the kids for dinner - we had PLENTY of leftovers so the portion sizes are very big. We tried the alfredo, the jalapeno popper and the special of the day buffalo chicken. The buffalo chicken was my favorite! All three were very good. The alfredo had great flavor but was dry as there wasn't enough sauce. The lady taking our order was very friendly and the place was spotless! We will definitely go back when we are down by the university.

I'm from out of town and we kind of stumbled on to this place while going for a walk. Mike was very nice and the food came out quickly. We each ordered the combo meal with caprese mac and cheese and a wrap. So much food for such a reasonable price. I would definitely come here again.

Went in for the first time two days ago. My mouth was watering for mac n cheeseburger. Sounded like the perfect mac n chz. My wife & I ordered 2 miner ones, that's small for $6.99 each. I could barely find the meat. The mac n chz was great, just lacking in the meat dept. I ate all of mine and my wife took part of hers home for lunch the next day. I would try it again.

I absolutely adore this place! I have been here so many times since the start of the semester it's not even funny! Their bacon Mac and cheese is amazing so is their buffalo chicken, and the chili Mac and cheese! Everything I've had from here is pretty much delicious and perfect! The cashiers are the best and recognized me after my second time being there. They always are kind and are willing to help you pick out what you want if you're unsure about it. Overall I love this place and will definitely be going back repeatedly! Highly recommend!

Working in downtown means that getting to Main Gate Square for a meal isn't something we do a lot. (C'mon streetcar!!!!) However, last night, we decided to head to MGS to grab some dinner...maybe try something new. Let me just say this: Mac n Cheese is my #1 go to food. I love it and could probably eat it everyday. (Don't tell my doctor.) I'd been following The Fix on social media since their opening. I liked how they used social media to get the word out, how they 'chatted' back with me and others. So, last night, the stars aligned and we decided to give 'em a try. The shop is cute with only 2 tv's...which was nice considering the week we've all had. We chatted with Mike about the menu and made our decision. I had the Bacon Mac (minor size) and my better half got the Hangover...with green chile (major size). We grabbed a table and our dinner was there within minutes. Then I had that first bite. I think I heard angels sing - perfectly cooked pasta, creamy cheese and bacon in every forkful. Hubby had the most content look on his face as he dug in. Yeah. We made the right choice for dinner. I love the fact that you can make suggestions for a mac. I suggested them trying a green chile cheeseburger mac and, well, it looks like it'll be a special in a couple of weeks! How cool is that? We will definitely be back and will be bringing our other mac n cheese friends with us. You just can't go wrong here - great service, nicely decorated restaurant, good prices and, well, I just love the concept!!

My husband and I are fans! How can you go wrong with Mac and Cheese!? Genius! We've dinned in once and now it's become our go to place for carry out. :) good portions for the price, plus the service is always friendly and welcoming. Next time we'll be bringing friends for happy hour. Jalapeño popper and Caprese are my top two so far.

So many creative versions of mac and cheese! My friend and I spent forever looking at the menu and finally settled on chicken, bacon, and ranch as one "minor" (serving for one person) and one taco mac minor. The portions were perfect--a minor works great for an average dinner for one. The mac and cheese was decent, but not extraordinary. I would have loved more meat in all of them--bigger pieces of bacon and more chicken in the first, and more beef in the second (my friend asked "does this come with beef?" after eating for a few minutes, because she hadn't seen any yet). The chicken mac was a tad bland. They were served hot, though, and the noodles were al dente, which was great. I also liked the fresh salsa that came on the taco mac. The Fix seems a bit pricey for what you get and for a student budget (The yelp check in deal helps a little, hint hint!). But service was extraordinarily friendly--the guy at the counter called out to us as soon as we walked in the door. Decor feels a lot like a friendly, mismatched dorm room (some art, some stenciled cartoony mac and cheese pieces, some colored mirrors, hard chairs, some beer signs, and U of A flags up). I'll also put in my vote for non-styrofoam cups. It'll be interesting to see how this place develops!

I have gone here every Thursday this semester and it has been amazing! I have slowly been making my way around the menu and have loved everything I have tried! My favorite probably has been la resaca but it's all great! Don't be afraid to try any of the macs! The staff is also great as they are super friendly and even learned my name as a regular! They are always happy to see me and are the kindest people. I highly recommend eating here whenever possible!

I've been going to The Fix since it opened. I moved back to Phoenix earlier this year. Today is my cheat meal day and I drove all the way from the Avondale/Goodyear area just to get the lobster and bacon mac and cheese. Worth every minute and every cent! I'll be back soon!!!

Ate here yesterday for lunch and was pretty impressed. It was busy, but we had no problem finding a seat and the women at the counter was quick to help us and offer suggestions. I had a minor bacon, bacon with jalapenos and my friend had a major lobster. They were both yummy and VERY filling. I even brought half of my minor home! The jalapenos added the right amount of kick and there was, as promised, tons of bacon. The lobster mac was a little light in the lobster department but overall was very yummy too. I dropped it down one star for two reasons: inconsistency in their menus. 1. The website, in-store board and in-store paper menu all had different things on it, not all were available. 2. the more minor issue: they use little Styrofoam cups for water. Boo for Styrofoam in general and another boo for having to get up every 3 minutes to refill my water cup (we're in the desert people- I'm thiiiiiiirsty!)

TERRIBLE, save your money and buy a box of Kraft mac-n-cheese! Ordered 4 different kinds of macaroni ranging from jalapeno to hamburger and lobster, each one worse than the last. Expected it to be gooey cheese but only to find it sprinkled with shredded cheese over dry noodles. A little over priced for mac-n-cheese and very disappointing!

The Fix brings comfort food--mac and cheese and grilled cheese--to the University area, and it makes a great addition with just a couple of areas for improvement. First, the counter service was great. The cashier was very helpful in suggesting menu items, and I eventually settled on garden mac and cheese with jalapenos based on her recommendation. Food was brought out to me quickly and was served with a nice oven finish as shown in the pictures posted by other reviewers. The dish was really, really good with lots of vegetables and a rich, cheesy alfredo taste that was more like "grown up" food than what I'd probably be making at home. A cookie that accompanied my meal was also soft, fresh, and tasty. As others have pointed out, the price at $7.49 for a regular-sized bowl of mac and cheese with veggies is a bit expensive. Certainly, this will not be an everyday stop for me, although the happy hour specials are very reasonable and would be well worth the trip. I also think it would be cool to see the meal served in reusable dishes instead of disposable bowls. You know, the environment and all. Points for cozy and cute decor, though. I hope The Fix has a bright future on University!

This place is decent. I was sort of expecting the best mac and cheese, of my life, so perhaps my expectations were set too high, but it just didn't rock my world. I got the buffalo chicken mac, which was good. The chicken was kind of processed seeming, I would have been much happier with some grilled chicken breast. However, the noodles and sauce were tasty and went nicely with the buffalo and blue cheese accents.

Visiting for the Oregon football game. We took our kids here and it was wonderful. Definitely a college town restauraunt and environment, but still great for families. Wonderful staff, and the mac & cheese was the best. Would recommend to anyone.

During a visit to Tucson I came across The Fix off University Blvd. We stopped by and had the jalapeno & bratwurst Mac N Cheese and it was amazing. The jalapenos were perfectly spicy but not TOO spicy. The employees were very friendly and greeted me as I walked in and explained to us all the different mac and cheese and what their favorite was. Make sure you try the chocolate cookie if you're not too stuffed! I'll definatly be back!!

This place was pretty good! I got the All American (can't go wrong with that). It was very tasty and it was a healthy portion. It was a little burned on top but the rest made up for it. Service was good and fast. The food was very creamy and rich....I got full fast. I would come back again.

The Fix was pretty good. I like that they offer a small portion of Mac and Cheese with either a small salad or a half sandwich. I did need to add more seasoning to my bowl of Mac and cheese (the exterior noodles were pretty bland). I ended up getting the Mac and cheese with bratwurst (bratwurst, cheddar cheese, and jalapeños). I would definitely stir the Mac and cheese the next time I go there. The outside gets a little crusty when they fix it. The workers at The Fix were very pleasant and helpful in the ordering process. Overall a good experience!

We found this place by looking on YELP, so thank you YELP! You have your choice of different kinds of mac and cheese and grilled cheese sandwiches. I ordered the alfredo mac and cheese and it was very yummy! My boyfriend ordered the plain grilled cheese and he thought it was just "ok", nothing special....so I would suggest doing one of the fancy grilled cheese. It was worth seeking out, very nice owner and staff (maybe a little too much attention at times but very nice)

This place is fun, the menu is interesting the people couldn't be friendlier and the decor is cheesy. (See what I did there?) The food is very good and even though it doesn't look like huge portions the for me size was enough to fill me up. Only con is that this placed is packed during lunch and its not a huge place but they are decently quick

I LOVE mac and cheese and when my boyfriend told me about this place, I was uber duper excited. I finally got to try it yesterday for lunch and just got the Minor Classic. I wanted to make sure I liked their basics. I'm not sure what cheese was used, but I didn't really care for it. I loved the kind of noodles they used though, big and curly. I was not feeling the cheesey goodness though. I didn't think it was cheesy enough and I really don't care for the baked cheese on top. I almost feel like boxed Kraft would be better. My boyfriend had the Major Taco Mac and Cheese. He said the meat looked more gray then brown and it didn't have a lot of flavor in it, he was unimpressed as well. Overall, this is not the place to go to get your mac and cheese fix.

We brought a large group down to this shop for a going away lunch and they did an amazing job taking care of us. They moved us through the ordering lightning fast and helped us to rearrange some tables for the group. Once we had our food, they continued to make sure we had what we needed and maintain the same service for everyone else in the restaurant. The food was amazing and we had a little bit of everything from the menu at the table which was nice with such varying tastes. Would definitely bring a group or stop by myself for lunch again.

There is one food that is sacred to me, macaroni and cheese, and I truly believe that The Fix is my new fix. I went with a few friends and I had the Cattleman, which had hash browns onions and steak added to it. Oh. My. Gosh. I'm not a fan of steak but I loved that bowl of macaroni. The portion size is perfect for the price, and my friends had jalapeño popper Mac, and it was just the right amount of heat. The employees are just so nice, and not many restaurants can pull off the paint color of cheddar cheese. The decor is cute, the atmosphere is great, and even the bathrooms are adorable with cute grandmaish furniture. In short I definitely am going to make a point of going whenever I'm in that part of town and trying some more of their perfectly crafted Mac n cheese.

Deeelicious! I would definitely go there again. On a side note: One person in my party does gluten-free and they can do that. However, it does take a few extra minutes. So if you know you are going to need gluten-free, call ahead and give them a heads up.

Soooo the lady behind the counter was nice, and they had GLUTEN free noodles which was awesome for a celiac... but they are overpriced. I would pay 5-6.50 for the amount of food we got. Overall if you are in the hankering for mac and cheese and don't mind paying more than its worth this place tastes just fine. On a side note, the bathrooms are clean and the whole place is cutely decorated so you can tell the owner cares, just maybe they need to care to lower the price by a few bucks for us poor college students. On an extra side note- my meal was delicious and I know I'll have a mac and cheese craving in the future.

The Fix is awesome!!! I got The Hangover and I loved it! It was my first time there and I can't quit thinking about it. I would definitely recommend The Fix. Who knew that Mac-n-cheese could be reinvented in so many different ways?

Went to The Fix with some friends. Yummy!! I had the Taco mac and cheese and it was excellent. Hubby had the Alfredo and he said no complaints. :) Took a bite of a friend's Bacon mac and cheese and the bacon was crisp. Very good. The atmosphere was good and the we had a great time.

Squeaking in at 4 stars, which I'll go into more at the end of the review. The good: The food quality is good, especially for the area. In my experience, food in Main Gate is either poor quality, or expensive. The bacon actually looked like it came from a pig at some point, and all the various other meats in the meatlovers didn't have anything to complain about. The cheese sauce was well put together, no undercooked flour or breaking, grainy sauce, and not plastic like you get on the other end of the spectrum. The pasta was fine too, not over or under cooked. The service was friendly. While I was waiting for for my dining partner, I got asked if I had been helped, and if it was my first time. Since it was, I was given a brief overview of the menu. The alright: The decore and theme isn't quite my scene, but it seems to be done from the heart, and doesn't feel artificial. For the area, it works quite well - they're going for a "FUN!!!!" vibe, and they've got it. For a mac and cheese place near campus? Fits perfectly. The pricey: So, in "The good", I mentioned that places here are either poor quality, or pricey. I feel a little conflicted on this, the portion size was definitely good, and comparable to the food/$ you'll get in the area. But you're still paying $11 for what is mostly macaroni and cheese sauce with some chunks of stuff thrown in for good measure. I know there are specials, which if you're there during the right time, you can get. $5 for a drink and a sandwich or a small mac and cheese? That's completely reasonable. If pricing followed that structure the whole day, and applied to the whole menu? It would be one of the better deals in the area, maybe even in town. The website: First, I have to compliment this place for, you know, having a website. With a menu. With accurate prices. This is a strange enough concept for most places in Tucson that it bears some special recognition. There are, and were, some problems, though. The font is, to put it kindly, stylish. Needing to reread the same word three or four times isn't good. I had to copy and paste the word "baked" from the description of the "All American" to realize that it actually said "baked" and not "Breaded" or "Bflkdmjngkl". I have heard that this is being addressed - so we'll see how that pans out. My other massive gripe about the site has already been removed, it looks like. I was stunned when I opened the menu page and got prompted to load the shockwave plugin. Remember shockwave? From 2002? I'm an IT guy and web admin - this is, I mean, was a deadly sin. One that never actually opened on any system I tried to open it on. One that has thankfully been rectified. Looking at the site now, a Google PDF viewer has very nicely replaced the dreaded "Shockwave Loading" screen that loved to lock up most browsers I opened it in. If I hadn't known about the font issues being addressed, and seen that shockwave had gone away, this really truly would have cost a star. So, overall, assuming the font really does get readable? I'm comfortable at a 4. The food was almost exactly what I thought it would be. The website both exists(!!!) and is improving(!!!). The prices are fair for the area. What would take it to a 5? If they started doing really neat, innovative stuff with their product. Having a mac and cheese of the week with more out there stuff - I dunno, give me a greek mac and cheese with gyro meat, onion, tomato, feta and a squirt of tzatziki after it comes out of the oven, with a nice piece of pita or something. You're already getting creative with it, go nuts and have fun with concept. (This is the sort of thing food nerds, I mean, uh, yelpers, go NUTS for too.) $1.50 cheaper across the board on the mac and cheese would also make this place go from "Eh, might go there if I'm over in the area" to "hey, this is a pretty good deal". This one, though, I don't expect - rent can't be cheap here.

I had been anxiously waiting for this place to open for a few weeks and when it finally did I Gorged on mac n cheese!! There are so many options and the most amazing part is they will make pretty much anything you ask. I have an obsession with mac n cheese with spinach and tomatoes and they were happy to accomadate. They used Grueyer cheese which is one of my faves and hard to find places. The wait was a bit long and it gets crowded in there because its so small but the food was awesome!! The prices are reasonable too!

The Fix is a great concept, and macaroni and cheese lovers will rejoice at all the different fix-ins one can add to their meal. My friend and I ordered the Chicken Bacon Ranch and The Taco. We got the "minor" size. As far as bang for your buck, we both thought the meal was over-priced as the fix-ins were sparse--it was a search for the beef in the taco bowl. Our meals were fresh, though, and the mac and cheese base was good; however, you can make the base at home--I was hoping that the lure would be in the fix-ins. The ambience is definitely a college hang-out with UA swag on the walls, etc. This made the place charming to me, though the decor couldn't really make up for the lost beef and the $8 I spent on about a little over a cup and a half of pasta. I don't know if I would return, but I am glad I checked it out. In terms of the restaurant options in the University area similar in price, like Chipotle or Paradise, it's nice to have a locally owned option to support.

The Fix is awesome! I've been here twice since it opened. First time I had the alfredo mac & chz, second visit I ordered the cheeseburger mac & chz and it was AMAZING! The staff is very friendly and attentive. This place is definitely one of my favs, I love the cute and spunky decor.

What a cute restaurant! I went in here this morning for brunch and the owner was very sweet and helpful. The portions were big and I only had a few bites and was full! Can't wait to take my little sisters here.. Wish I knew about the gluten free option before I ordered though! Note: realize that not all cookies are priced equally (almost $7 for 4 subway-like cookies [subway 3 cookies for $1] yikes) and it cost 30 cents more to get the half dozen instead of just getting 6 individually... But very delicious, very friendly, very clean and pretty professional! Will be back.

My roommate and I went there over the weekend to try out the mac n cheese. One major criticism I have that has nothing to do with the food or the place itself: they need to change the font on their online menu. It is incredibly difficult to read some of the descriptions. Either increase the size or change the font entirely. The place itself is very cutesy/kitschy. Very inviting with friendly staff. You place your order at the counter and they bring it out to you. I ordered the cheeseburger mac n' cheese, while my roommate ordered the Meatlover. We both got the "major" size ($10-$12) so we could share. The food was good. I liked the thick layer of melted cheese on top and the hamburger meat was tasty. I think I liked what my roommate ordered a little more, but I have no major complaints about my food. However, and this is the primary reason why I am giving a 3 and not a 4, the food was a little expensive for what we got. $10-$12 for basic mac n' cheese, not including the drink and no table service. I think $4-$5 for the small and $7-$8 for the large would have been more reasonable. But its near the University. Everything on campus is stupidly expensive.
