The ONLY AUTHENTIC gelato in Tucson. Reminds me of Tre Scalini in Rome. Hidden gem that puts all others to mediocre shame. If you want the best quality, go here. Otherwise, u r just buying sticky mess around town. So thrilled to discover Tazzina. Great people and beyond excellent gelato! It's the difference between the freshest tree-ripened peach and a canned peach. If u like canned go elsewhere. Tazzina is the gold/platinum standard.

Spent 5 months in Sicily and this is as close as I've tasted. Very authentic feel when you walk in and the staff is extremely friendly! Large assortment of gelato and they'll squeeze 2 or 3 flavors in the to go cups for you. Awesome flavors, the "death by chocolate" is a must!!

Tazzina Di Gelato has excellent icecream (same quality as Allegro II Gelato Naturale). The only reason I give them four stars instead of five is that Frost Gelato is definitely a class above icecream. Tazzina's death by chocolate is unbelievably good, though. I have never tasted anything near this chocolaty outside the best French and Italian dark chocolate. The pistachio gelato was also good, but all three gelato shops have good pistachio. Avoid the sorbets here, which are crude crushed ice.

Wonderful flavors. Love that you can choose more than one in a cup. Great service.

This little gelato shop is a small wonder. Nestled in the same shopping center as Olive Garden & Monkeyburger, it's not to be missed array of skinnier-than-ice-cream options will make your mouth water. We stopped in after doing errands in midtown with gramps and tried out lots of combos of small sized cups of gelato. A small holds 2 flavors. Prickly Pear, Chocolate Orange Liquer, Stracciatella, Double Chocolate and Sea Salt Caramel were a few of the standouts. Nice and cool inside with tables to doodle on with crayons. They also display a catering cart for special events. A must have for any wedding planner's Rolodex!!!! I foresee a delicious future for this specialty (one of 16 in the country) artisan gelato shop!

Nice little gelato place. A favorite when I'm looking for a treat in hot weather. Friendly service and a variety of changing flavors that they always let you taste before buying. A shade on the pricey side, but that's true for all gelato in Tucson. You'll see more middle-aged customers than children here. During my last visit, a friend of mine asked why they don't recycle the plastic containers used to serve gelato in-house and was told that they were made out of corn-based PLA that biodegrades in a year in a landfill (some might dispute that). However, closer examination of the containers showed that they were marked with a 05 recycling code which is polypropylene, not the 07 which would be expected for PLA. Rather disappointing...

Gelato is proof that Italians reign supreme at creating masterpieces. And with two thirds less butterfat than ice cream it is pure genius. Their webpage even boasts that their gelato and sorbetto contains high amounts of protein and vitamins. So, let me introduce you to Tucson's new superfood craze. As soon as someone posted a pic of the avocado basil, I set my sights on Tazzina Di Gelato, as I adore creative flavors. The avocado basil did not disappoint, nor did the wasted youth ( a chocolate, caramel, stout beer). Everything is made in house with all natural ingredients. They post their rotating menu on their webpage if you need to plan out your indulgence.

What a delicious place!! The gelato is really good, the interior is nice, and the price was fair. You can sample their flavors before choosing one. You can also have more than one flavor at a time if you'd like. The employee working wasn't super friendly, but she wasn't rude either. Once I ordered, she was super fast and efficient and I was enjoying my delicious gelato in no time :-) It took me a little while to find this tiny place in the big plaza that it's located in, but now that I know where it is I'll be back.

I usually head over to Debbie's DQ on 22nd for my ice cream fix but during this holiday, I have a dear friend visiting from Alaska and he loves gelato. So gelato hunting we have gone. Frost. Been there. Done that. And it's OK. But Tazzina? In his words, "This is the best gelato in Tucson." I asked him why he liked this place and he felt the gelato was much more flavorful, albeit the selection of flavors may not be as great as Frost's. The prices were fair and the staff was very friendly and it was a nice place to sit and eat and enjoy. So, this is the place we will go for our gelato fix from this day forth! Happy New Year everyone! Stay safe and happy.

Nice choice of flavors . Friendly service. We had espresso too which was really good with the gelato. Our new fav place in Tucson.

Unique flavor combinations, and delicious gelato. Super friendly staff. I recommend the chai-ai-ai-ai, gelato with chai-tea spices. Definitely a repeat location.

Absolutely wonderful place. We just happened to be in the area and were looking for something warm to drink and to try something new. We were a little unsure what to expect since we have been die hard Frost fans for a long time but needless to say, we were blown away!!! Their favors are very fresh and new and their coffee is amazing. As an added bonus, THEY OFFER ALMOND MILK!!! Wonderful service and wonderful favors! Highly recommended to other gelato and coffee lovers! Enjoy!

I really want to like this place. It is close to work and home. For me there is a funny and lingering after taste to their gelato.

This place is very nice. My husband and I went in for a after dinner treat and was pleasantly surprised! The shop was nice and clean. They had an array of different flavors and I got a half caramel sea salt and pistachio mix. It was heaven. However, the gelato was very heavy and I could t even finish it all! The prices were kind of expensive, but I think that's how it is at a lot if gelato shops. I suggest you give them a try!

My in-laws LOVE their gelato, but I wasn't as impressed. Very interesting flavors, but nothing wowed me. Go for the fun choices. Husband ranked this 2nd choice after Allegro and liked it better than Frost.

The gelato is delicious and the service was excellent. They even have a patio for dogs! We'll bring our Boxer, Augie, next time. The individual flavors very realistic, especially the limoncello. You'll love it.

Great selection of flavors and the three I had were quite delicious. Their gelato is indeed richer than ice cream but I don't think it's quite as good as Gelato Classico gelato. I had: - Peanut Butter Cup:Really tastes like a Reese's peanut butter cup. It's a smooth ice cream with peanut butter and chocolate flavor. Very yummy. - Chocolate with Caramel and Sea Salt: Delicious. A little heavy on its own so it's a good one to combine with something else. - Sea Salt Caramel: Very good and not as salty as other sea salt caramels I've had. This tasted amazing combined with the chocolate with caramel. Prices are reasonable - $5.50 for the big cup. The small cup for 3.50 is pitifully small and I'm sure very unsatisfying.

As close to gelato you'd get in Italy as I've found in the States so far. Lovely creamy texture, flavors that dazzle your tastebuds, and very helpful, affable staff. Every chocolate flavor is just delightful -- from the rich and power-packed Death by Chocolate to the lighter sea salt caramel chocolate. Fall flavors are creatively fun. We love the apple tart and are thinking of substituting their pumpkin for our usual pumpkin pie this Thanksgiving. This little shop is a gem and a place we return to for a reminiscence of Italy's dolce vita.

my husband votes it is better than Cold Stone. I saw a groupon for a new gelato place and could not pass it up. Several days later we loaded up the family and headed down to Tazzina di Gelato. It was spectacular! We were the only customers when we stopped in but the employee was very friendly and allowed us many samples of the array of flavors. I tried the chocolate salted carmel, which was good but a bit too rich for me. I decided on Red Velvet... Delish! My husband went with Salted Carmel which was also extremely good. Not quite as decadent at the chocolate variety. Our daughter sampled small bites of both of ours and bounced up and down in her chair for the next 10 minutes. We will be back!

I went to this place recently for the first time, and I plan to go back. Tazzina has several things going for it. The employees will let you try several samples. You are allowed to get two different flavors in the small size - usually gelato places make you buy a medium in order to get two flavors. The prices were fair. I paid $4.55 for a medium. The lemon cake flavor is delicious. It was a good mix of sweet and tart. The gelato also comes in plastic cups that you can wash and re-use. If I keep going back there and keep the cups, I'll be all set to have a gelato or ice cream party!

Absolutely delicious. Katrina was very helpful and let us try several flavors before deciding on one. Will definitely be back!!!!!!

I had the Pistachio gelato and it was fabulous, definitely going to be hard to resist walking 3 doors down every day...

Yes it is good. I went mid-day and although they did not have my favorite flavor it is better than other gelato I have had in the valley. Worth many more visits. 3 to 3-1/2 stars.

Firstly, I must say this place had me and my boyfriend from the very first day. They weren't even technically open the day we stepped in but they said that they were doing a pre-opening taste testing day to gauge the customers satisfaction upon trying the flavors. The staff is always extremely polite and patient and they really do consider your advice when making the flavors- if you emphasize that something is too strong or that there is a lack there of they will adjust it when they make the next batch. From a health standpoint, I'd say I'm glad the nutritional information is not posted because I don't think that it could possibly be healthy considering how good it is! I used to frequent Frost (like 2 or even 3 times a week) but Tazzina is closer and so much better! Its incredible how well this little place does at interpreting flavors! The flavors are intense, and I've probably tried almost all of them and none have disappointed me to this day! GOOOO!

Really, really yummy! First time having gelato and it was awesome. So rich and creamy! Their flavors are interesting, we had a cup of chocolate caramel sea salt and a cup with Mexican coffee and Stracciatella (a kind if sweet cream w/chocolate chunks) side by side. Delicious! The store was very clean and pleasant and the service was excellent too. Oh and they had butcher paper and crayons as a lovely distraction. Definitely returning to try another flavor!

I stopped in because my terrible phone was being repaired at sprint. I needed a sweet fix, and the cake store next door was closed. I am so happy it was! This place is amazing best gelato I have had in years. :)

Finally got a chance to try Tazzina's gelato. My go-to gelato is pistachio. Something I learned in Italy, is that the more brightly green pistachio gelato is, the odds increase that it is not artisanal, but made from a mix. I look for a slightly muddy gray tint to really good pistachio gelato. Unfortunately, Tazzina's gelato was a bit too "green" and lacked a real pistachio flavor punch. I did try it, it was so- so. I also sampled several of their sorbets. They were very icy, which tells me there is too much water in the sorbet mix. It was like a high quality shave-ice. I did enjoy their Mexican coffee gelato. Lots of coffee/ chocolate/cinnamon flavor. Tazzina's gelato is ok, not great. There are other shops in town worth driving to.

Insanely great. We gave it a try and it took me back to eating gelato on a hot summer evening in Rome. Loved it.

I found a great deal for this little gelato shop on LivingSocial. This location is right across my work, though I hadn't noticed this place before since it's tucked away in the shopping plaza. The shop itself is very clean, well-organized, and welcoming. The young girl behind the counter was super friendly and informed us that we could sample anything we wanted. I tried a flavor called Cookie Monster and it was very tasty. Overall, the experience was definitely a good one - especially since I was able to get my gelato packed to go! This is definitely one of the nicest gelato shops in the area and I would definitely recommend this place to others.

My wife loves this stuff..... I was not a fan, at least I didn't think I was until I tried this shop. The business is locally owned and the staff is super helpful and friendly! Plus they let you have as many samples as you can stomach! Quick tip : Chocolate chip and Peanut butter! mmmmm Delicious!

The best gelato in tucson. And I mean the very best. The variety of the flavors, the texture, the sweetness. This is gelato like youve never had in the us. Truly, truly exceptional. I suggest the Grand Marnier chocolate and the Avocado Basil. Strawberry Beet is also fantastic, when its available. Always something new to try when I go there.

when you want something sweet but not as heavy as ice cream. I got some chocolate covered cherries and an almond joy. The flavor was not too bad. But my first thought is it was not smooth. Reflecting I think it was kinda of icy, not alot but enough to notice. I will probably be back to see if the icy-ness is a fluke.

Before setting us loose in Florence for the afternoon, our guide cautioned those of us planning to take a gelato break (probably all of us, don't cha think?) to look for the word "artisanale" on our shop of choice. If it's not there, we're sacrificing the real deal for stuff concocted from a mix. Yep. Sadly, modern techniques, artificial flavors and colors sometimes replace traditional -- even in Italy. Too bad the U.S. doesn't distinguish these things as officially. At this point, I can hear you begging me: "Why not get yourself over to Allegro?" I hear you. It's because I am committed to keeping my distance from this delicious, god-given nectar. The more divine the "tazzina" (little cup) of gelato, well, the closer I get to a plus-size. Believe me, NObody wants that. But on this particular 100+ degree afternoon -- "hot as Hades" comes to mind -- I succumbed to the promise of something cold and sweet, artisanale or not. Indeed, my expectations were low. The place reads like chain. Not my thing. I later learned it was founded by the "Miller" family. Hmmm... not promising. But, damn! The stuff tasted good. My husband ordered the traditional Italian Stracciatella and I went for the caramel with sea salt. Once I got to perusing the website, I find the Millers really have done the work -- attending many intensive courses in Italy. (Tough as that must have been.... Geez. Poor people.) Bottom line: I remember more "body" in the real Italian gelato eaten steps from the Ponte Vecchio and next door to the Pantheon in Rome. But, for a sweet (and cool!) treat? Mangia! (Italian for "dig in"!) .

I don't know how this place has such good reviews, but maybe I'm spoiled because Allegro is my go-to place and it's so much better. In terms of price, a small is more expensive than at Allegro which would be fine if the quality was there. It didn't seem much different than ice cream, the flavors were overly sweet and strong, like they came from a package instead of made from fresh ingredients (except the local prickly pear, which tasted like nothing). Also they don't offer sorbet style flavors. The bright unnatural coloring turned me off too. I feel weighed down and guilty after having a small-- I won't be returning.

Good, but Allegro is better, though if you like gelato this place is definitely worth checking out as well. (While you're at it, try Frost too--they're also good).

Friendly, helpful, and informative service. Genuine gelato with a wide variety of flavors that could never be confused with inferior ice cream, and an honest, straightforward business policy. First, let me say I tried this with a Living Social deal for $20 value. Even with 2 people, using that in one go would require some creativity beyond an impulse stop, so we planned on splurging, since they usually must be used all at once, right? Much to my surprise, the business is accepting their credit split to different days, and was willing to be flexible with customers expiration date. Very customer-oriented, and it immediately took any pressure off our visit. The gelato is what this is all about though, and it shines. I sampled gelato in Italy and Sicily before, and this mixes the classic with a modern American twist and creative flavors. For those who haven't tried gelato before... It's much richer than ice cream, and needs to be eaten a little at a time to savor. It's also much more filling; much more smooth. With that in mind, I thought the prices were very reasonable, and the friendly staff encouraged us to try all the original tastes with free samples. As someone who is very picky about ice cream (I prefer sorbet), I was dumbfounded to be torn between so many flavors. Even the smallest serving available allows mixing of two flavors, and larger sizes mix up to three. You need to try this out to understand. If you're a sorbet fan, try their Tazzina sorbet, which had more fruit flavors than I could count which are very distinct; with hints of mango, papaya, and pineapple, or some of their fruit gelato. If your a traditionalist ice cream fan, Stracciatella will blow your socks off if you like vanilla chocolate chip. As for chocolate... with more than 6 different gellatos revolving around chocolates, you need to try them to decide.
