Given this is a two person labor of love with home recipes, not a chipotles , I was surprised at how ordinary the food was. Everything was passable, nothing was above meh. The taco Al pastor came off a skewer with pineapple on top, but tasted unexpectedly plain. The tortillas had the usual "food city" supermarket flavor. The salsas were all too salty and watery (and you can judge a Mexican place by its salsas). About the only thing above minimal was the pineapple juice. Next time I'll just do a food truck, or dare I say, chipotles?

Nice clean upscale vibe with excellent meats for you to select from The calabacitas side dish was very tasty, as were my chicken tacos! Oh, and the chicken was NOT dry! Thank you! Nice complimentary chip & salsa bar with great accompaniments, such as sliced radishes, to add to your meal. Good location as long as you can find a place to park! Go after 5 and meters downtown are free. The only downside is having to do another transaction at the bar for your drink, but hopefully this issue will be solved in time. Your meal could get cold waiting to order and pay for just your drink. I'll definitely be returning.

A convenient place for lunch on the clock. Tried a couple times now and the carnitas are good and the al pastor ok. Definitely go the taco route it's better than the burritos. The salsa bar is a plus. Try going before or after the lunch rush for optimal seating.

Ok, but mostly a Chipotle wanna-be. I have been to this place several times and each time has been disappointing for either myself or my friends, hence the 3-stars. Food Since Chipotle popularized this modern genre (fast, fresh, tacos and burritos) I will use it merely as a common benchmark to relate my opinions to. By that familar comparison, if we award Chipotle an A- then Street Taco gets a C+. Their meat selections are very similar to Chipotle (with shredded or chopped beef; pork and chicken) and are very similar in terms of (good/fresh-grilled) taste. There are some significant short-comings however: The entrees (again, almost identical in terms of menu presentation) contain about 25% less meat than Chipotle, and all come at about a 15-20% price-premium. This is also true for the overall size of the burritos and the "fixins" options (not as much beans, rice, etc are served up). So the overall burrito is distinctly smaller than at Chiptole... easily 25% smaller. In addition to tacos and burritos, they have sandwhiches which are made from the same meat options. Avoid these! They are a mess to eat, contain even fewer quantities of meat/condiments, and cost about the same. Another shortcoming is that all of the ingredients are hidden from the customer by "buffet" style rolling lids which are flipped up/back and shield the customer's view from menu options. One result was that a friend (first-timer) had no idea what was available (and the server never indicated what options their were) so his burrito was extra small, Lol. Even after having gone back several times, I certainly did not have everything memorized and it was annoying to ask what else was behind the lids (even the plexiglass sneeze-guards didn't have labels on them). Drinks are fountain-style and there are a variety, from sodas to ice-teas, that one can serve themselves from. Chips and salsas are also readily self-servable. Seating There is very limited seating and almost all of it consists of mostly 2-tops, with a handful of 4-tops. If you are a bigger group, you will be flat out of luck. The venue is also small/cramped/noisy, so during the lunch crush you should always be prepared to take things to-go in the likely event that no tables are open. Parking This is located in the heart of downtown, so it's ideal for local/office-workers but otherwise parking is a nightmare. Conclusion When I am downtown and I'm hankering for a Chipotle-like experience, I will still come here, but I will try to avoid 12n-1p AND I have to be resigned to eating a smaller portion for a bit more money too.

Where to begin...the pollo asada is awesome, tender & flavorful!!! Get both the classic or hibiscus margarita! While it is a good lunch place, I'd also highly recommend it for dinner! Everyone was personable and provided great service!

This place is a rich man version of Chipotle. Its got a lot going for it: fresh meat cut in front of you, fresh ingredients, beer, in and outdoor seating. They still have a few kinks to workout. I walked in and it took them almost 10 min to take my order and they didn't offer any of the extra toppings, which I would have taken. This place does have some of the best ceviche I have ever had in Tucson.

Good salsa bar & good service! Vegetarians and those trying to eat healthy: beware. Unfortunately, the salsa was the best part of our visit. Everything else seemed like junk food. There are a few caveats (see below). We live downtown and have been looking forward to trying out Street Taco. In fact, my wife reminded me that just last year I was saying we needed a street taco restaurant downtown! Needless to say, we were excited about our visit. First off: we try to eat well. We don't eat fast food or meat. We eat a lot of local fresh produce and limit our consumption of dairy & fried foods. We were looking forward to trying the fish tacos but were disappointed to find out they only offer battered & deep fried Tilapia served with a mayonnaise/pico sauce. We ordered one of these each without the mayo sauce and it was exactly what you'd expect from a piece of cheap fried fish, cabbage & pico on a warm corn tortilla. I livened it up with the fantastic avocado salsa from the bar, making it much more palatable. We would love to see a grilled fish taco using a wild-caught, sustainable fish offered too. We also inquired about vegetarian options. Our server was very knowledgeable and forthcoming about their products! The pinto beans & rice both contain meat products, leaving only black beans & calabacitas for those avoiding meat. I love calabacitas and was thrilled it was offered. The funny thing is, calabacitas alone on a tortilla isn't very exciting. I would have loved to have added some pintos or refried beans, fresh avocado, tomato & jicama to this to add some additional texture & flavor. Again, the most memorable part of this taco was dipping it into the various wonderful salsas we sampled from the bar. My wife opted for a black bean taco with cabbage and added a mix of salsa & avocado sauce and said, "what's not to like?". Now, the only fried food I enjoy is tortilla chips with salsa. Like I said earlier, the salsa was great. The chips, however, were pretty bad. They are offered up for free next to the salsa bar. I expected them to be stale as they were accessed from a closed glass container under a heat lamp, but they were surprisingly fresh & crispy. The bad part is they were cooked at the wrong temperature, and being on the thicker side for tortilla chips, absorbed a LOT of stale-tasting grease from the deep frier. There was enough of this grease soaked into the chips that I felt awful the rest of the evening from trying to sample the various salsas from the bar. We go out for tacos a few times a month and would like to see Street Taco and Beer Co. offer up some more vegetarian & grilled fish alternatives. If they do, we will happily bring along some friends and give them another try!

Great to have downtown. Like others said, it's like a local Chipotle except this a bar and more booze. Free chips and salsa is a nice touch. Their carnitas was okay but their Carne asada was really good, better than Chipotle's. The margaritas was expensive yet good, but it was with Patron, what do you expect. I would definitely recommend going here to watch a hang or hang out with friends. The open air environment is very welcoming.

A rare highly recommend! Amazing tacos, fresh chips and agua fresca. I've only tried the asada and the carnitas and both were moist and flavorful. The tortillas hold up to the assault of things that go on top. Service is friendly and fast. Can get crowded at weekday lunch.

I've been here twice... Once when it first opened and it was super busy. Second time, less busy and still great. I like the pulled pork quesadilla, it's still new to me and I love it so it might be awhile before I move to other menu items. Staff is friendly and quick. They also have a full bar..I have yet to experience.

My go to lunch spot for a quick, inexpensive, quality meal. While it is a chipotle like set up, Where you order along an assembly like line, I find the ingredients better. I also like the complimentary chips and salsa bar. The dark hot salsa is my favorite. I love the pastor tacos and the calabacitas. While you order the tortilla (corn or flour), meat, rice and beans at the counter, the salsa bar is separate. Oh, and you also have the choice to add cilantro and onions (and cheese for calabacitas) at the counter too. I have yet to have a beer while dining ( it's lunch time folks!), I do like that they offer local drafts and have a button for table ordering/delivery. Welcome to the neighborhood street taco!

I like this place! They have a good selection- for as much as they are compared to Chipotle, they have a wider selection of food items. Between me and my boyfriend we have tried the veggie, chicken and pork in tacos, burritos and a quesadilla. All are good and at a decent price point. The chips are fresh made (and free) and I love ALL the salsas in the salsa bar. The street corn is crafted to perfection, too! The beer selection is impressive and, honestly, overwhelming! This place can fill up quick, but the indoor/outdoor seating area seems to turn over just in time! This is becoming one of my favorite downtown places - quick, fair-priced, tasty and customizable!

  • John B.

What's not to like? Fast service, yummy tacos all at affordable prices? Did I mention the beer selection? Local favorites like Dragoon IPA and Puebla Vida all on tap. Also, there's a button on every table that's labeled, 'buzz for beer'. Genius. I'll definitely be back for more.

$2-$3 tacos, unlimited salsa and chips, extremely tasty margaritas, quick and clean, what's not to love? This is an order at the counter, no-frills place on the west end of Congress St. For the tacos, they give you the option of corn or flour tortillas, which they double up for each taco. The first time I was here, I sampled all of the tacos with my boyfriend and we were stuffed. My favorites were the carnitas, shredded beef, and fish (which is battered and fried, yum!) so I've been ordering those ever since. The standout for me is their margarita. I'm by no means a margarita connoisseur, mostly because I had a bad experience with tequila in college (haven't we all?!) and thus don't like margaritas where I can really taste the tequila, which is most margaritas for me. I know that sounds stupid because they're largely tequila. But I've tried to sample the margaritas around town to take advantage of the fact that I live in freaking Tucson! The one at Street Taco is a hefty $8 but is well worth it - it's nice and sweet, without tasting terribly strong. Although there was definitely tequila in it because I was feeling it after two of them... One hiccup is I came on Cinco de Mayo and when I asked if there were any drink specials, he just said they had discounted Corona. This was contrary to what their facebook page said but I figured he knew what he was talking about. It'd be good to get things like drink specials straightened out though! I'll be back for quick weeknight taco and margarita cravings! It's fun to sit outside and people-watch.

Our first visit was outstanding! Lukas made our tacos and he was extremely friendly giving us suggestions since this was our first visit. We loved the al pastor street tacos! Yummy! The atmosphere is nice and everything was clean. We will be back soon since we are locals.

We arrived on a Saturday in the mid-afternoon and the parking was somewhat problematic. Soon enough we were inside and ordering our tacos. They had a set-up somewhat like Chipotle. Choose flour or corn tortillas (both fresh-made!) and your meat and some toppings. After paying, you then go to their salsa bar where you can add more toppings and choose from a wide variety of salsas. They also have a large bin of fresh tortilla chips and paper containers, and you can dish up however many chips you want. These are really, really good chips, too. I had a shredded beef taco on flour and a veggie taco on corn. The tortillas were seriously delicious. The veggie taco was just okay. I was a little worried because the beef was pretty juicy, but the tortilla had serious fortitude and didn't break or go soggy and it tasted amazing. THAT is how you know a good tortilla. The shredded beef was darn good, too. My husband had steak, al pastor, and chicken taco, and enjoyed them all. They were pretty small--street tacos, after all--but it made for the perfect snack to celebrate surviving Interstate 10 between Phoenix and Tucson.

A Chipotle stylisque kind of joint but specializing in Taco's. Don't let the park that's been infiltrated by homeless deter you from stopping here. The taco's are fairly priced and they also have burrito's (not as big as Chipotle) and quesadilla's. From what others said their horchata and other juices are really good. Overall, the whole place is clean and well kept. They also have TV's to play games of the day. If I'm back in Tucson, I'll definitely be on the lookout to come here again.

We happened upon this newly-opened Chipotucson while in search of some lunch downtown on the weekend. The inside is very much like the industrial-styled burrito and taco chain. I ordered chicken tacos. The meat and tortillas were pretty good, but the salsas were disappointingly mild. We both got juices, which were in the big containers behind the register, and sounded delicious: pineapple and watermelon. I thought that they'd be just what the hot summer afternoon ordered, but both tasted like they contained a half cup of sugar. Don't order either unless you like the sweetness of your summertime beverages on the sweet tea level. I left here unsatisfied and went to munch on more food down the street. I should have gone west to Seis and had their poc chuc tacos.

It's a local version of Chipotle, Much like Mexico in Season was- except Mexico in season used fresh ingredients, sourced locally and was vegan/vegetarian friendly. This spot? Well, it's good, it's relatively cheap and fast, but nothing really stood out. It's definitely a good choice for folks on the go or for a quick lunch, but generally I'm not rushing to get through a meal, so this isn't really a place I'll be a regular at. Local brews on tap are a nice touch. We sat at the Bar and the service was pretty indifferent, perhaps we'll sit at a table next time and take advantage of the drink order button I've read about in other reviews.

Street is an excellent build-your-own burrito/taco/etc bar that also serves a wide variety of alcoholic beverages, all great complements to their food options. Its already been said, but Street reminds me of the perfect Chipotle-style restaurant I always envision, but have never been able find.. until now. Street shines not only because of the fresh quality of the food, but also because the food is legitimately Sonoran-style Mexican. Refried beans, spanish fried rice, street corn, al pastor, and queso fresco, all ingredients I've longed for in burrito-babies and bowls of yesteryear. The price is literally no different than Chipotle (actually cheaper depending on your choice), yet the food feels real, it feels like Tucson. $7 will get you any burrito with your choice of meat, beans, and rice along with accompanying garnishes. Some of their drinks may be a little steep, but in my experience $7 for a good Michelada is not unheard of. The margaritas are excellent, and who doesn't like a good variety of beer with their tacos. Chips and salsa are also complimentary, self-serve as a matter of fact. Overall: If you're looking for high quality, fast/casual Mexican food in the downtown area, look no further. In my humble opinion, it's worth parking for. Don't pass up Street, you won't be disappointed.

First time here. Easy order set up and nice and clean inside. We sat on the porch and enjoyed people watching. We ordered the carne asada tacos with calabacitas for a side. The tacos were delicious. The carne asada was moist and packed with flavor, served on corn tortillas with cabbage, cilantro and onion. They have a chip and salsa bar with lots of yummy toppings. The calabacitas were not great. They were a little under cooked and lacked the creamy cheese usually in this dish. You can grab a great local draft beer which is always a plus and the staff are super friendly and provide good service. All in all a great place to grab lunch! Eat and enjoy

Kind of a cumbersome set-up, food was not that good, but drink menu is great. The place is itself is a nice place to hang-out with a good vibe. The annoying thing is you order your food at the counter, chipotle style, but if you want to look at the full drink menu, you have to go to the bar and ask for that menu, or press the button on your table to get the drinks-- either way you have to pay two separate bills for being in one place.. silly set-up. The beer menu is great though, with tons of local options. They have a few margarita choices that all sounded interesting and I loved mine. However, the food was just not good, especially for what you can get in this town for Mexican food. The tacos and burrito both just tasted dry, to the extent that we didn't even finish the burrito despite being voracious eaters normally. Free chips & salsa bar were good though-- in fact I mainly just ate the chips and salsa since they were better than the food. Come check it out for drinks, but I'd go elsewhere for better mexican food

I love this concept! While we did run into a little confusion on our first trip we are eager to return and try more items. We decided on a handful of tacos: carne asada, pollo asado, carnitas and al pastor. Then we threw in a street dog for good measure. After we ordered the tacos we went straight to pay only to get called back to the toppings station to figure out what we wanted on what. My only suggestion would be to have a list of toppings somewhere or to be able to see them. We kinda got stuck trying to decide and after holding up the line a little bit we just quickly chose a couple things not wanting to ask the girl to list everything. Anyway we survived, picked up our food, got our beers and sat down to enjoy our lunch. We arrived just before the rush hit but from the looks of it everything was being navigated pretty nicely. Food continued to flow out and people continued to enjoy. All of our tacos were delicious and while the dog was good too I'd stick to the tacos. Nice place to grab a bite while downtown.

I was really impressed with this place. We sat at the bar and ordered some beers, nachos, tacos, and a street dog. Everything was yummy and the bartender was sweet and attentive. The have a really cool selection of bottled beers and some on tap. They also have these neat little buttons on all of the tables that you can press and get beer delivered to your table. You can order your food at the counter, unless you sit at the bar, and then you will get full service. They have a cool selection of salas and chips. I liked the way it was an open concept. We didnt feel like we were sitting on the street, but still felt like we were outside. I would certainly go back!

Not sure the hours now. Previously they were supposed to be open till midnight on Saturday. I walked all the way down from congress (not super far, I had heels on and was lazy) only to find they were shut down. The other times I've been there the tacos have been fine. Nothing special. Gets the job done. Good beer selection and nice patio area.

I have eaten street tacos all my life and although I always hope to enjoy Tacos Al Pastor I am always disappointed. Everyone knows not to even offer them to me. Well that has all changed today! I now can say that I LOVE the Al Pastor from Street Taco & Beer Co. Everything I tasted was flavorful with great service. My new favorite spot.

A welcome addition to the other side of Congress St.

I arrived in Tucson this Friday and my mom took me to this "taqueria" omg!!! Amazing tacos just like Mexico city's The place was clean and nicely decorated, service was super friendly, but the food the food was beyond good! I had the carne asada burrito $7 and two tacos al pastor which were superb :) they even put the pineapple. The hibiscus drink (agua de Jamaica) was so good, original, not to sweet and very refreshing! They also have complementary chips and a variety of salsas to choose from. I definitely will be returning here before I leave tucson!!!

Delicious! I had two tacos x three meats: Al Pastor Carne Asada and Pollo Asado All 6 were perfect. Authentic, excellent tortillas, and deliciously marinated meats. The beer list met my needs and beyond. The Al Pastor and a Ballast Point Sculpin IPA were a match made in yum. I gorged myself with 6. 3 would be fine for the average hungry dude. My wife had a chicken burrito and she loved it. Several bean and rice options along with cilantro and onions for your grub. The burrito tortilla was 12" so that thing was huge. I will definitely having that tomorrow. Can't wait to try a tortas , the bread looked really good. Bravo to the owners of this joint!!

Atmosphere and location: The restaurant is located on the side of a main road where several major landmarks/establishments are located. Opened late hours filling an issue Tucson has. The lighting and ambiance is nice, simple and relaxing. Nothing gaudy. Can sit outside on the porch or take a windows seat to watch people pass by or just sit inside. Food : Food is excellent. I tried the Tacos and an Al Pastor Burrito which was tasty. They make your item fresh right in front of you. Ingredients /condiments are on display. Meat is cooked on a spit. ( on display). Menu is not extravagant but limited to maintain quality I presume. They also had a free Chips and Salsa area. ( now don't go to eat just the chips :) ) Drinks : Have soda and agua fresca . Also have service Bar where they serve Beer ( duh as the name says) and some choice cocktails/Margaritas. Prices : Prices are reasonable and moderate. Not as cheap as a fast food place but this place is far from fast food( in a good way and worth your money). I would say prices are in Chipotle range ( but with a cleaner different experience). One of the more healthier ( you can pick your ingredient yourself) , reasonably priced, better quality Mexican food place in Tucson. Would I recommend ? Oh yeah.

Chips are delicious!! Salsa is fresh and out of this world!!! I'm officially addicted. I am usually not a big meat eater but the shredded beef here is very delicious, moist, and flavorful. The tortillas are authentic! And to boot all the employees are friendly and provide great customer service. Only been during lunch and there is usually a line almost out the door. I hope this one lasts!

Perfect downtown lunch place. Fresh grilled meats, birria, and -- if it's your bag, fried fish. Quick tacos or burros, plus thirst quenching agua fresca...at lunch, and beer or a margarita if you hit it as the day winds down. I had a carne asada and pollo asada taco, some beans and rice -- and a small basket of chips from the complimentary warmer. All was delicious, as was the salsa selection. I will definitely return. Can't wait to try out the "call for cold beer" button on the tables!

Street Taco takes the Chipotle concept and gives it a twist that's fitting and honestly welcome in the Tucson downtown food scene. Where most restaurants in the area are a little more formal sit-down dining, this order-at-the-counter style is great for those on the go. Resting on the corner of Congress and Church, Street Taco has an open entryway with patio seating on the sidewalk. The layout inside is akin to what you'd see in Chipotle, and honestly the flow of ordering works in pretty much the exact same way. While the menu is similar as well, Street Taco does a number of things better, namely: meat options that are seasoned to a more authentic Mexican flavor, onion and cilantro by default, FREE CHIPS and SALSA (with about 8 salsa options), a stocked bar with craft beer, and a couple TVs. The prices are reasonable, the service is consistently fast and friendly, and the location is great.

So after reading previous reviews, I knew this place was going to look exactly like Chipotle but more awesome. Let me tell ya that this place is dangerous becasue I work two blocks away. So its take away with the street menu on the wall, but you know what?? They have alcohol, good looking people, and all the food truck awesomeness you want in a resturant! Went there for lunch today and if you want to beat the crowd get there before 11:30am. So many awesome authentic choices of meat and toppings. The prices are pretty average, but when it comes to the add-ons they cant be beat! You can get street corn, churros, and bean sides for $3. Did I mention the churros are fresh and huge! Street cred yo. They also have a full bar with a service button for more at each table. I could not partake during work hours, but I will be back. Speaking of bars, they have a chip and salsa bar, yum! Even raosted peppers to add on for free. The drink assortment made me smile as I have cravings for pineapple fanta. They carry agua frescas and bottled mexican sodas (or pop where I am from). Truly a stable, sit down awesome food truck experience in a resturant locale downtown. Make sure to check out all the street food for a pretty fair price. Faves: Al Pastor, churros, medium green salsa

I went here with my husband after "Meet me at Maynards" We forgot to show them our hand stamp, and went back after only to be told there was nothing they now do to give us the discount. I mentioned sometimes a place will give a free churro, or something like that (they're a dollar) , but no, just got told no... not good customer service. I ordered the corn, thinking it was a corn cocktail, and it was a corn on the cob - tacos and corn on cob??? Yuck, I returned the corn, and it took forever for them to process the refund. My husbands hotdog was small, and unappetizing. The chicken and el pastor burritos were good, the salsa eh.... the best thing was my Tucson blonde beer... I was considering taking my family here when they visit next month, but I would much prefer taking them to either Gio Taco or Geurro Canelos.

Super delicious!! Came here on a Friday night and it wasn't super packed. We got our food quickly and enjoyed the nice atmosphere and the friendly employees. It's not a fancy dinner place, but it's not a taqueria either. It's somewhere in the middle with great authentic food and a nice vibe and modern decor. Good margaritas as well. The hibiscus/jamaica margs were great, as were the regular ones. I had the street corn which was YUM, but could have been hotter in terms of temperature. It wast just kind of warm when given to me. I also had the street hot dog, which was amazing. My friend had a couple different tacos and she enjoyed them. The free chips and delicious selection of salsas were great. This is my new taco/burrito/Mexican food place in Tucson hands down. You won't be disappointed. Thank you!

I arrived at around 11:45 AM during the week, hoping to beat the lunch rush. But, much to my chagrin, the line was already out the door. The queue was so long and stationary that the hipster juror dude in front of me put away his smart phone and threatened to strike up a conversation with me. Things seemed to be at an impasse, with no illusion of progress. Once inside, I took in the urban, industrial wood and metal vibe with a set up almost exactly like Chipotle except with a BEER/WINE/TEQUILA BAR!! 20 minutes later, it was my turn to order. The employees weren't terribly helpful in explaining how the assembly line works and - given that they are a new restaurant -- none of the customers are going to be experts. Next to the pans of meat were vats of three different kinds of beans. I asked for two street tacos with black beans, and was told that beans were only available for sides. Umm...even Taco Bell will give you a bean taco if you request one! The refrigerated section of the food line was not visible to the customer, which makes it hard to know what to ask for without appreciating what the options are. Putting labels on the outside would probably be a good idea, and move things along faster. I ordered two vegetarian tacos, with calabacitas, cilantro and onions with a side of black beans. At the cash register, I asked for water and was told that I had to go request water at the bar. Even though there was no line over at the cantina, that system seemed weird and inconvenient. The prices were awesome! The street tacos were $2.50 each, a great value for a light lunch compared to most of the other downtown lunch stops. They have a free chips and salsa bar a few steps away...the chips were pretty broken down by the time I got there, but they did have that delicious oily/salty freshly-fried authentic taste. I didn't realize I was supposed to ask for (or grab) my own napkins and fork with my to-go order, so I ended up back at my workspace making a pretty big slurping mess. I will come back here the next time I'm working downtown, because I know that they've only been open a few days and are still finding their footing. I'm pretty bummed to be writing a semi-negative review, and look forward to adding another star or two next time.

I wanted to like this place but the it was awful from the moment we walked in... It wasn't clear on where to order, food was cold, and tacos are overpriced. Try a local taco stand if you want street tacos. The only good thing was the local beer.

I went to their soft opening last night and boy were we impressed. I tried a variety of their street tacos and my wife had a carne asada burrito. The flavors of the all of the tacos were outstanding. They have a chip and salsa bar that was equally amazing. Their prices are very reasonable, no need to break the bank for quality food downtown anymore.

This place rocks. The nice man making burritos told me it was like the "Mexican Subway," but it's actually a lot more like a certain other chain that will remain anonymous. Except better, because this place offers free chips and salsa and.... a FULL BAR! The tequila selection is excellent, and they have a few different Arizona beers on tap, including my favorite--Dragoon IPA. The atmosphere is great. They're right on the corner of Congress and Church, and natural light fills up the space. You get good people-watching, too, if you grab a window seat. And they have TVs at the bar, if you're a sports fan. I had a pollo asada burrito, and it was delicious. My boyfriend had the carnitas burrito and loved it. It's a good sign when you can actually SEE the meat marinating and roasting in the back. We also had the ceviche, which was tasty and super lime-y. The salsas were super fresh. I particularly liked the hot red salsa, which has a smoky chipotle flavor to it, and the green medium salsa. BEST OF ALL, our entire bill for two huge burritos, ceviche, and two fountain drinks was under $20! You can't beat a price like that. I live in the neighborhood, so I will definitely be back to try their street dogs and guacamole. It's nice to see a non-pretentious restaurant open up on Congress. This place is Nom Chompsky. 10/10, would eat again. Try it.

I am so happy this place is now open. Within 1 minute of walking out of my office, I can be at the front counter of Street Taco and Beer Co. choosing the perfect meat, rice and been fillings for my burrito. Downtown really needed a place like this. Delicious Meats, Aguas Frescas, Chips, Salsas and Beer just around the corner. This place is what Gio Taco was supposted to be.

When you walk in, the restaurant set-up makes it feel somewhat of a fast casual (Chipotle-esque) chain, but it is FAR from that. You can tell all the ingredients are extremely fresh, which makes one tasty street taco. Also on the menu are Burritos, Quesdaillas and assortments of Street Corn, Fruit & Hot Dogs. They have many options for beverages, which includes: local craft beer, aquas frescas and the usual sodas. There is also a free chips and salsa bar. Must say that the Guacamole was some of the best that I have had in a long while! Great tacos, great prices...Ill be back in the near future!

I am a big fan. I just recently went vegetarian again. They don't put cheese or dairy in the veggie burro unless you ask, which means that it is vegan. It is also very good. I get it at least once a week. The salsas at the salsa bar is great too. The dark brown, roasted chili salsa is my favorite. It says "hot" on the ladle, but it was just right. The other ones are good their. The staff is friendly and helpful too.

The tacos here are very good, Hell maybe even better then some of the tacos shops on 12th Ave and that is saying a lot. Everything tastes amazing and love how everything is done in front of you.

Im a big fan of Mexican food so always excited to check out a new joint. This place has cool flare and a bar with TV's, but reminds me of Chipolte a bit. You order your food and watch them make it then pay. Once you sit down at a table if you want to get a drink from the bar just press a button on your table and the bartender will come right over! This was pretty cool. The drinks are definitely awesome and homegrown but pretty expensive. Paid 8 bucks for a beer with basically lime juice and a fancy glass. The food was just so-so. With all the great places around Tucson I just dont see this one sticking out in my list.

Ate here last night and I really enjoyed the food! I ordered the fish tacos with a side of pinto beans while my boyfriend ordered the carnitas burrito and we shared a glass of the Tucson blonde and horchata I loved how crispiness of the fish when I first bit into it and the horchita was sweet and had a nice rich cinnamon taste to it as well. I would recommend this place to anyone whose craving Mexican food!

I found my new happy hour spot... I almost wish I still worked downtown! Dollar off drafts and wine, $2 off micheladas and margaritas! $10 for 10 street tacos and $2 off street nachos or street fries! Yes please! On the north east corner of Congress and Church, there's an outside patio and garage doors that open the entire restaurant to the street with an unobstructed view of the Presidio to the south. The vibe here is reminiscent of a Mexican seaside cantina with an industrial downtown feel. Purse hooks and POWER OUTLETS under the bar, complimentary chips and ample salsa bar!

2nd best tacos in town and I have been to about 10 locations in town. These tacos are to die for and I dream about them often. The meat is marinated and they don't skimp on the amount. The tacos have two tortillas which I prefer. They have a nice salsa selection and free chips which I love. My biggest complaint is the price of the micheladas which is why I gave them 4 stars. I think it came out to $7 for a beer and the mix. $3 for the mix and $4 for the beer. Next time I go in I don't plan on getting a michelada and just stuff myself with their delicious tacos! When they messed up my order the bartender gave my friend and I a free shot of tequila which I really appreciated. He was very sorry for the inconvenience, wanted to make sure my experience was fine, and checked up on us before we left. To me that was great customer service. All the people who I have brought in have enjoyed their food. The price is reasonable and 3 tacos is enough food for me (120 pound 5ft 3in 22yr old).

They are still trying to get everything figured out. Beer button at the table is pretty cool. But they need a beer list to help out what they try to do. Tacos are slightly over-priced I thought

With the number of restaurants opening downtown using descriptors like "artisanal" and "craft" for their selections, I was pleasantly surprised by their menu. It's simple stuff. It's actually local Sonoran-style Mexican food. I ordered a burrito with al pastor (a cured pork). The man behind the counter made it to my order in front of me, stuffing it with cabbage, rice and beans to my request. I also got a side of calabasitas. The burrito was excellent, although the order of calabasitas was small given the price. They offer beer (they have buttons on each table to summon up more beer) and soft drinks. They also offer aguas frescas which are made fresh on site. I ordered horchata, which was excellent.

I really enjoyed the tacos the carnitas was greasy but kind of in a good way if you know what I mean. The al pastor taco was good but a little salty and the pollo asado was pretty good also. The worst part was parking. I had to parallel park witch kinda sucked but I feel like a bad ass after I did a amazing job.

Had 3 tacos in flour tortillas. Went with Pastor, Carnitas, and Shredded Beef. It comes with cilantro and onion. I added sour cream and grilled jalepeno. The meat was delicious. Overall rally tasty. The whole place is like the chipotle model. I would gladly eat here again.

Not worth the hype. None of the meat or beans had any flavor. $2.50 per taquito is too much for a tortilla with a pinch of meat (with no flavor) $1.00 per side rice and beans is a little too much for 2oz of anything. Won't go back.

My 8-year-old and I visited Street on a recent evening, having heard a ton of buzz about the high quality of the food. We were not disappointed. The presentation and choices were excellent. My daughter chose carnitas tacos; quoting her, "this meat is so delicious and it's just falling apart in my mouth!" I opted for one each of the pollo asado and carne asada. The tortillas were super fresh, the portions generous, and the fixings more than adequate. Bonus points for the salsa bar with a nice variety of options, from mild to nice and spicy. Free chips? BOOM. The icing on the cake was the beer selection - being an obligate gluten-free diner (thanks a lot, celiac disease...), I usually have to skip beer in restaurants. NOT AT STREET. Omission Pilsener in the fridge. There you have it. Highly recommended. Good for families.

This place is Chipotle on steroids!...Authentic Mexican food served fast-food style is the best way to describe Street..The menu has some of your Chipotle favorites like tacos & burritos but it also has tortas, nachos, quesadillas, sonoran hotdogs and more..The star of the show is the awesome salsa bar with mild, medium & hot red salsa, hot green salsa, avocado crema, pico de gallo, pickled onion, fresh sliced radish, lime wedges, roasted jalapeños and free tortilla chips!..Also unlike Chipotle it hosts a full bar with specialty margaritas, micheladas and eight draft beers..4 taps of local craft beer which will rotate..Downtown Tucson doesn't have a Chipotle but we have something better!...Viva Street Taco & Beer Company!!

A locally run Chipolte like establishment with a lot more options. The burritos were not quite as large as the national chain but they did the trick. Their "hot" salsas actually have a kick and the salsa verde had an excellent flavor as well. The tortillas were thicker than traditional Tucson tortillas and tasted like store bought rather than locally made. They did a great job renovating and their beer menu featured many Tucson favorites as well as many other.

Oh yeah.

Thank you!

  • Katie P.

This place has everything: Street tacos for $2.50 Burritos for $7 Complementary chips and salsa Full salsa bar Aqua fresca Beers on tap Bottled beer section Beer button on each table The food, atmosphere, customer service, and location are spot on.

Great tacos ..got the 5 for $10 street taco happy hour special. 1. Shredded beef 2. Carnitas 3. Chicken 4. Al pastor 5. Carne assada (unexpected 5th) Great salsas. Great service . Actual score 4.5 stars..5 star I only give for "knock your socks off". Very close

  • Kyle B.

Good tacos. A tad expensive for the size, but the free chips and salsa bar makes up for it. The beers are way overpriced.

  • Kaiona V.

Not worth the hype. None of the meat or beans had any flavor. $2.50 per taquito is too much for a tortilla with a pinch of meat (with no flavor) $1.00 per side rice and beans is a little too much for 2oz of anything. Won't go back.

  • Alicia C.

I wanted to like this place but the it was awful from the moment we walked in... It wasn't clear on where to order, food was cold, and tacos are overpriced. Try a local taco stand if you want street tacos. The only good thing was the local beer.

  • Alicia L.

Didn't know gays liked tacos, but Street taco proved us wrong. Being a calabacitas snob, this squash was on point! Portions are amazing for the price and the margaritas rocked, not talking about the ice. Sat at the bar and had great service from Alex. Overall my experience was great! I will definitely be returning soon!

Talk about authentic food!!! And if you say chipotle is better I'm pretty sure you like the Mexican pizza at taco bell too!!! Lol beer button free chips n salsa I mean c'mon who does that now days...good loyal friendly people who stay true to the culture...The food has amazing flavor and not overpowered by seasonings like other places...authentic salsa straight from a molcajete(google it) overall flavor environment people presentation is off the charts...

Second time here and I really like it. Have now tried the Asada, Chicken, and Pastor tacos and they are all really good. The refried beans and white rice are good. The mexican rice and black beans are ok. Great selection of good salsas. Great atmosphere and patio seating too. Definitely a good pace to go when downtown and want a quick (but quality) bite.

Delicious salsa bar- the hot salsa is hot- yay! The fish tacos are great and they offer local brews including Dragoon. The patio is open to the elements- excellent all around!

Really great food and free chips and salsa. Chipotle business model but food tastes much different and is very delicious.

  • Jonathan K.

    (2)
  • Jan E.

  • Karissa G.

A convenient place for lunch on the clock. Tried a couple times now and the carnitas are good and the al pastor ok. Definitely go the taco route it's better than the burritos. The salsa bar is a plus. Try going before or after the lunch rush for optimal seating.

I just had the Al Pastor Burrito, my wife had the Al Pastor Tacos, and my son had the Street Dog and it was excellent! Right now we're finishing up the Street Fries, what a good deal for the amount of food, salsa and chip bar to boot, and lest I forget to mention the beer, lots of BEER; I digress, the service was excellent!!

Thank you!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
