Polish Cottage is sort of hidden in this weird little strip mall. The inside is super cute where they actually decorated it like its name. I recommend the Combo platter to try a little bit of everything. But what I enjoyed the most were the cabbage rolls. They were just very flavorful and delicious. The cabbage gives an interesting texture to the chunk of pork inside. It was just very good. The apple cake is also very delicious, so much so that my brother ate three of them.

Accessibly with a wheelchair is ok. It is very tight inside, but was doable for lunch as it wasn't crowded. I would think dinner would be a definite no. I don't like to be bumped as it hurts and is well annoying as most know when you chair gets bumped. For me it causes pain so even worse. I was very much looking forward to this place and it was a total bust. On most of my reviews, I say give it a try well not this one. It isn't worth your time. The service with an empty place was not attentive and very slow. My friend and I ordered all the different types of pierogi they had. They were about the size of a quarter. You get one topping so since we ordered two plates we got onions on one and sour cream on the other. We had two plates of ten with the first plate being half beef half potato and cheese. The second plate was half sauerkraut and mushroom and sweet farmer's cheese and sour cream on top. I wasn't excited over the taste of any of them. The farmer's cheese one both my friend and I didn't like at all. My friend likes pickle soup and ordered one. She said she can make it better at home and was disappointed. Over all I think it is a pass.

So good! We love this place! Comfort food! We had pirogues, beet soup and stuffed cabbage! Can't wait to come back again

No words can describe how wonderful this place is. My mother is German and loves this place! I recommend absolutely everything on the menu and will continue to go back time and time again. Must note that they do not sell nail polish. I mistakenly went there for the first time years ago looking for a manicure with my friend.

Intimate setting with good food. Went with a group of friends and really enjoyed it. It is a small restaurant where you are made to feel welcome and like you are experiencing home cooking. They have some of the dishes you would expect in a Polish restaurant and I have enjoyed the veal schnitzel and pierogies. For pierogies you have a choose of cheese and potato, saurkraut & mushroom, beef or sweet farmer's cheese and you can have fruit pierogies for dessert. They have a special which, when I was there, was a meat stew in a potato pancake. The combo platter includes a Polish sausage, hunter's stew, cabbage roll, pierogi and a roll. The entrees come with fried or mashed potatoes and a cucumber salad. The server was attentive and accommodating and the people in my group enjoyed their meals as well as the service.

I am of Polish American descent and was visiting the Tucson Area. I wanted to try something different and found this restaurant. It was an unexpected pleasant surprise. It is located in a strip mall, very modest in appearance (you could miss it). The inside dining room is small, very small by most restaurant standards. However, it definitely reminds me of the small local cafes that I have visited in Eastern Europe. The decor, the music and the menu all capture that experience. Having imported beer and wine, including wine from Bulgaria added to the ambience. The menu is relatively sparse, but there are some great items. Get the sampler platter for two to really sample the fare. I had a cup of the beet soup, which brought me back to my youth. The sausages, stuffed cabbage and pierogis are well prepared and presented. Save room for dessert. Get the crepes with seasonal fruit. They are amazing. The service was attentive and friendly as well. If you are not into the style of dining in Eastern Europe this may not be for you - it is very hearty with different seasonings than most Americans are accustomed to. If you are interested, it is worth a stop.

Nick, the server, was very, very nice. He was well informed on the menu and very kind. Robert, the owner and chef, makes amazing pierogies and offers an amazing selection of Polish beers. I would definitely come back, if not only just to have an authentic pierogies because those tickets back to Warsaw can get expensive.

I grew up eating Polish food and have wanted to try this restaurant since I passed it months ago. We walked in on a Sunday shortly after they opened and had our choice of tables. The server was very friendly and the place is super clean and charming--I forgot I was in Tucson. I came to try as much food as possible so we ordered the sampler platter. No disrespect to my Polish relatives back in the Midwest, but the food at the Polish Cottage was as good, if not better, than what I ate growing up. Everything was hot, fresh and flavorful. Honestly, I couldn't stop eating so dessert was a must. My great aunt and uncle made the best crepes and I expected what I ordered to fall short--wrong again! The crepes here were AMAZING and every bit as wonderful as I remember! Ok, Polish food may not be for everyone, but it's worth a visit. This may be my favorite spot in Tucson -- for service, ambiance (yep, even in a strip mall) cleanliness, and food quality A+. I wish they would consider a weekend brunch menu...wishful thinking. A wonderful experience!!!

For my first time experiencing Polish food, this restaurant was a real treat! I tried a little bit of everything... the potato pancakes with apple sauce, pierogies with sour cream, sausage, cabbage rolls, hunter's stew, and the bread... and it was all so delicious! When asked what my favorite was, I honestly couldn't pick just one as I was overwhelmed by how good everything was. For dessert, we ordered the crepes with both strawberry and blueberry sauce, and they were both tasty. The decor inside the Polish cottage was cute and pleasing to look at, and the bathrooms were well-decorated as well and very clean. Also, since we came at a late lunch hour (around 3pm) and the restaurant was empty save for another table, the owner came out to talk to us and recommend some menu items. It's been a couple weeks since our visit, but I still fondly remember the food here and cannot wait to come back!

My husband and I took my mother in-law here for dinner on Saturday before we saw Beauty and the Beast. The food is really good. We all split the sampler and the potato pancakes. My mother in-law said the potato pancakes brought her back to when her grandmother would make potato pancakes for her when she was a little girl. The bigos is flavorful and only slightly sour. The pierogi are beautiful and flavorful. The kielbasa are gorgeous, and the golabki are perfect. The service could be a bit better, but it honestly is better than many establishments. We did not have any dessert, but we did bring home some of their homemade kolacky (I don't know if I spelled that correctly) and what my mother in-law called "angel wings." Both were fantastic and will be sure to please even the pickiest dessert eater.

Good food in a well cared for restaurant, and not at an unreasonable price. Both the beet soup, and the cabbage roll I got were well done. Wasn't a huge fan of the bread, but white bread is not something I approve of.

I've been back a couple of times, once with a friend who grew up in Poland and moved to Germany as a late teen. She said it was very authentic and equally delicious. On my most recent visit I had the pleasure of trying the updated combo plate which now includes stew. Everything was absolutely wonderful. I love the atmosphere in here - it feels very mom-and-pop and the food tastes like a really good version of someone's relatives cooking for you. I'll definitely be back!

Absolutely horrid decor, to begin with. Limited seating, so the place feels over crowded and uncomfortable. I came in with a group of 14. We waited forever as one waitress struggled to take drink orders, and then food orders, and then waited over an hour for our food to come out. Cold on the inside with a grayish mushy matter. Hot on the outside. Disgusting. Microwaved. Completely overpriced ESPECIALLY for the serving size. Tiny little doughy pita looking things with filling. Absolutely gave me the runs the entire evening. Tables were sat after we were and received their food and left before we even saw our drinks! Our group gets out on these luncheons quite a bit, but if anyone ever mentions this terrible establishment again, I would rather save my moneyand eat cat litter. It would be more filling and taste better.

We decided to try this place out with friends this evening. It's a little quaint place decorated in polish flair. There was about 14 tables available. I had the kielblasa with fried potatoes and my husband had the pickle soup and cheese and potato pierogies. The kielbasa was good meat but lacked spice, it was very bland. The fried potatoes were good. The pickle soup was interesting and the pierogies were good. Not the greatest polish restaurant we have been to, but not bad.

Fabulous food!I I had the sampler platter, and the cabbage roll was to die for. The pierogies and the hunter stew on the sampler platter were delicious too. My husband had the potato pancakes, and he thought they were fantastic. We finished off our meal with the fruit pierogies and really enjoyed them. We will return soon.

If you are looking for authentic Polish food, this is the place to go. I love polish food and it is very hard to find a restaurant that makes good polish food. I ordered the combo, so I was able to taste a couple items. The servings are on the larger side, so you might want to order one item and then see if you can finish the second item you were looking at. All of the food is hand made and taste great. The service is very friendly and willing to help you make your decision in case you are stuck on which of the many terrific items to order.

Great pierogi's but WAY overpriced for portions. I have to pay extra for sour cream? What the HECKKKKKK? That's like charging someone extra for jelly for their peanut butter sandwich. They just GO together. WEIRD.

This restaurant has delicious, authentic, made-from-scratch food, and probably the most adorable decor in Tucson! I've tried many of the menu items here, and everything has been wonderful. I always like to start my meal with a cup of soup. All three options are incredibly delicious. My favorite is the beet soup, but I definitely enjoyed both the zurek and the tangy pickle soup as well. I also like that you are allowed to choose as little or as much variety as you prefer when ordering pierogi. I wasn't a huge fan of the sweet cheese one, but the other three fillings were incredible! I highly recommend ordering them with the traditional caramelized onion topping. The sausage, sauerkraut, and bread are quite tasty as well. Last, but not least, the kolaczki and angel wings make an excellent light dessert. My only complaint about this place is that the food seems a bit pricey for what you get. Come warm yourself by the fireplace...or, if it's summertime, just allow the brightly-colored walls and paper cuttings to warm your heart. Either way, be prepared to have a great meal!

Great little Restaruant, nicely decorated, food tasty and hot. This is great find in a world of Mexican and American restaurants. Being German decent it's hard finding European food in Tucson good or bad. This is a good place to try different polish food.. Please support this place so it can survive! Only thing wish it stayed open later than 8pm..

Food was tasty fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Our party of three each had the sampler which was great- maybe a bit under salted. Service was polite and efficient. We'll be back for their tasty and hearty (not heavy) polish food!

Two words: apple cake. Also, while my dining companions and I were in, we were winked at by a man celebrating his 100th birthday with shots of vodka surrounded by his family. That should speak for itself.

Excellent place for slavic comfort food! I am Slovak in background and moving from the Great Lakes were such food is common place to S. NM has been a shock to my system. There is no eastern european food in Las Cruces or El Paso. I was in Tucson for a show and was looking for food I could not find easily and yelp brought up Polish cottage as a suggestion. I decided to go for it as I had been craving some sauerkraut pierogies. I had 6 sauerkraut and mushroom pierogies as well as two cabbage rolls. The pierogies were awesome! pan fried with onions and sour cream with them and so good. I think it would have been even better if they had plain sauerkraut ones but it really isn't a critique of the quality just that they don't have them. The cabbage rolls were great! The cabbage was soft and the filling was pork and rice. I liked how the rolls were more rolls like than the larger folded ones I have occasionally had. I grabbed some kolochy for the road a dozen all strawberry (I guessed they would be plum incorrectly). I will def go back the next time I am in Tucson. The food as delicious and affordable!

So I finally got a chance to review this place. I grew up in a very picky polish family who made many of these dishes for family dinners. Needlessly to say it is hard to compare a restaurant to home, however, this place was a home run! Authentic polish cuisine at what I would call moderate pricing. It has been going up lately and that might be a problem for future visits. So far I have not found a dish I hate. I like the sausage, cabbage rolls, hunter stew and pierogis. If you like something a little less "polish" try the breaded pork or chicken cutlets with some of the best pan fried potatoes in town. I should also mention that they make their own farmers cheese (sweet or tangy) and it is delicious. The sweet cheese is the filling for my favorite dessert in TOWN. It is the crepes with sweet farmers cheese topped with powdered sugar and sour cream. OMG - I could eat one every day. I would have given this place a 5 star rating if it were not for 2 things. One is the drink selection. I do not drink alcohol or soda so I always opt for tea. The only tea they have is gold peak which IS NOT TEA. I refuse to drink any tea that comes out of a box. I have tried the hot tea as an alternative but it takes too long to get to you and the selection feels like odds and ends someone brought in from home. A variety of brands that are never the same and once all I received was a selection of herbal teas. I wanted caffeine. I always just have water now. Lastly, the one thing this place does that I cannot stand is that they clean the glass table tops after people leave with really strong Windex. The smell ruins whatever you are eating several tables away. I have to pause for several minutes before I can continue my meal. They should find some cleaner/sanitizer that does not have that obnoxious ammonia smell.

Brings back childhood memories pierogi stuffed cabbage and potato pancakes. What a treat! Brought family and friends and they loved it. Don't have to be polish to enjoy!

I have been wanting to go here for months, and it did not disappoint! When you first walk in the place is absolutely charming. There is a nice little faux fireplace and a really cool "cottage" looking area where the bar and the servers station is located. Really quaint and homey feeling! The menu is one of those that you read over and then want more food than you are going to be able to eat. We had the cabbage rolls and every kind of pirogue they had to offer. Best cabbage rolls I have ever had and the all of the pirogues were great. The sweet cheese pirogue is almost like dessert. And the best part is damn near everything is made from scratch, right there at the restaurant. You can totally taste the difference. The servers were very friendly and attentive and the prices were so low I thought they forgot something on our bill. $25 for drinks and our food! I will be back and I will bring friends!

Good for of you're craving Polish food but it isn't anything spectacular. I've been here twice and ordered the pierogi and potato pancakes. Both were not fresh and the flavor was bland. Coming from Poland, I expected more from a restaurant run by Poles. Authentic polish good has much more flavor! On the plus side, they have a nice selection of Polish beers which are pretty difficult to find in Tucson. Must try one if you come here. Both times I was there the waitress was very sweet and attentive. Very good costumer service.

Hands down one of my absolute FAVORITE hole-in-the-wall restaurants in Tucson. Maybe because Polish food is so new to me. Who woulda thought that the first time I'd ever have Polish food would be out here in the desert? So many good dishes here, from appetizer, to main course, to dessert, I will just highlight my favorites: Appetizer: I technically would count the Pierogis as appetizers. The potato and cheese ones are must-haves if you've never had Polish style dumplings! Main Course: Stuffed cabbage with pork and rice is hands down melt-in-your-mouth. The pork is so tender and juicy it nearly reminds me of the Chinese style Lionhead dish, but again, done Polish style. Dessert: This is probably the best selling point. As you will have to try the Apple Cake. If you can take away ONE thing from this review, it is THIS. I won't even explain, you'll have to taste for yourself. :) And if you still can't get enough of their dessert, their fruit Pierogis are also creative and you won't find them anywhere else. :) The only downside is that they close the kitchen so damn early (8PM on most week nights), so be sure to get there well before then. A friend and I literally popped in at 8:02PM and they turned us away. What does that tell you? They must make good money/business and their food is a hot commodity. :D Eat it up!

This is a wonderful change of pace for me. I love Eastern European food (okay fine, I love every kind of food). Since I've moved to Tucson, I usually resort cooking my own when I have a craving. I was thrilled to find a highly recommended Polish restaurant. The menu is short, but somehow it is still hard to pick (they all sound so good). I went with the special of day, Bison Pierogi. It was meaty goodness wrapped in buttery dumpling served with sauteed asparagus. Everything from the butter, to the meat to the dumpling wrappers were all high quality. My companion got the bread pork cutlet. It was very well prepared with surprises. Our waiter was A+, very attentive, friendly and fielded lots of questions. My only regret was not getting a roll. Several of the patrons around me very specifically requested the rolls, which left me wondering what I was missing out on? Alas, next time.

This is the real deal with regard to ethnic food which in Tucson is with exception of Mexican food, hard to find.

This place has great food and unfortunately the two stars it's missing came from the service. Even though this is a tiny 12ish table restaurant and their was 2 servers our guy seemed over whelmed. We got the sampler entree which came with 3 perogies, sausage, hunters stew and stuffed cabbage. Everything but the perogies was excellent, it was supposed to have 3 different types and mine only had 2 beef and one potato and cheese. We also got an order of potato pancakes (our least favorite) and an order of 6 perogies, 3 potato and cheese and 3 of the sweet farmers cheese style (farmer cheese was our favorite!). To go we ordered the Crepes, one strawberry and one blueberry. They were unusually thick and bland, we were hoping they would have the same filling as the sweet perogies. All in all we will be back for the amazing food and hopefully our waiter will be on too of his game so we have a more pleasant overall experience. When that happens 5 stars all day!

My rating is for restaurants is a comparison based off other eateries with similar price/food/decor/etc. Thus, I'm not comparing a taco stand to a Michelin starred restaurant; I would compare it to another taco stand. With that in mind, I am updating my review to reflect five stars vs. four stars. Having gone there many more times since my review, the consistency and quality of the food, as well as the attentive service, have earned the fifth star. For real Bavarian/Central European food, this is a great restaurant in any market and definitely the best in Tucson.

Polish Cottage is located off Broadway Blvd between Swan Rd and Columbus Blvd in what has always, to me, been an appealing looking plaza. Serving up traditional Polish food of perogies (traditional varieties and a bison one too!), sausage plate (what most Americans seem to want when they think Polish food), breaded (meat of choice) cutlets, golombki (stuffed cabbage rolls), bigos (hunter's stew), and a few polish style soups. They also have mizeria (cucumbers in milk/sour cream), sounds odd but delicious! which I love although not well known among non Polish folks. It's a family owned establishment. Servers are mostly all Polish college aged kids also. I like the authenticity of that. Polish Cottage has a cute & casual vibe. Overall it was good but I've had better in Chicago and anyways, nothing will ever beat my grandma's meals.

We were there on Tuesday night we got there around 6:45 and there were two other tables. Cute restaurant very clean. We got the Veal meal with the mushroom gravy and the cucumber salad. I got the mash potatoes and my hubby got cube fries. It was good. We got strawberry crepes for dessert and I'm use to having them with fresh fruits and this was just a strawberry jelly. Not that good. But we will probably give it another try in the future.

Great food and fantastic service to match! I've been coming back fairly often since may first visit and each experience has been very enjoyable. My one complaint is that their music selection seems a tad limited and I sometimes hear the music repeat before finishing my meal. All in all, still a "must try" for anyone looking to try some tasteful new foods!

I have had dinner twice at the Polish Cottage. Presently they are starting out, and our first dinner, things were a bit silly with two boys taking our orders and doing the best to wait on customers. The next visit was smoother. Both times the food was good. It's a casual fare and good prices. I enjoyed the food, and look forward to returning. The first time I went I ordered pork and potatoes with white borscht. My husband ordered hunter stew with red borscht. We ordered the apple cake for dessert. Overall, it was nice and not expensive. I had the cabbage rolls my second visit and they were great. I look forward to going again.

Our first time here and we loved the food and service. We shared the Polish combo plate and everything was delicious. Recommend it if you are a first time visitor. Next time I'm ordering the cheese and potato pierogi. Kelly is awesome at her job and she took care of us. We will be back!

Two words: Pickle Soup. Light and savory, served hot, with potatoes, meat, vegetables, and just a hint of pickle flavor. To be honest, if I returned, I might order this as my main course. Portions were a tad small if you get the pierogi, but the stuffed cabbage rolls were huge, and the kielbasa was solid. The apple vodka drink is AMAZING. Think apple pie. In a glass. That happens to be alcoholic. That's my kind of thing. The server was young and enthusiastic, though he seemed to forget to refill my water :( Cute decor, kitchy and homey.

The perogies were good, the cabbage rolls in my opinion, were waaaay too big, sauce was like, a roasted tomato, which I didn't like that much, my grandma was from the Ukraine she never made this stuff...I sure miss her food! Good value for the money, but as I was coming home I was feeling a bit sick...oh well. I wont go again. Service was friendly but lacked a personal touch/connection that you can get if you actually listen to the customer and not just walk away quickly after interaction.

    (2)
  • Amber B.

Service was not great food is soild minus the fact that they don't use real sour cream. I got dinner to go and they have me a very small amount of sour cream for the perogries. I asked for more and they said they'd have to charge me 75 cents. I don't care but I've already paid so it's an inconvenience. When i get home and eat i realize it's not real sour cream. Not creamy at all. Watered down and very bland. Disappointing.

The wife and I visit Tucson every year the for gem show, and this is one of the best restaurants that we have found. Absolutely amazing. We had Pierogies: beef and potato-cheese; we had the cucumber salad, and a roll. When I told the waitress how awesome the meal was, another first-time patron who claimed to be Polish proclaimed that she also makes the same dishes and that this place was absolutely authentic. We'll be here for another week, so will probably eat here again. Yes, it was that good.

The Polish Cottage is a very clean and cozy restaurant with delicious, authentic food. We ordered the sampler entrée for two- Best cabbage rolls I have ever had, and the all of the pirogues were great! The stew and the sausage were also very good. We ordered the potato pancakes to share with the kids (ages 2 & 4), but they wanted to eat all the cabbage rolls! (Did not expect that, ha.) Don't forget to order dessert.... the Apple Cake was great! We will definitely be back soon!

Adorable place, very clean, friendly staff and excellent food. I'm so glad I tried this place today. We ordered the stuffed cabbage and 6 pierogis and loved both dishes. They were flavorful and extremely filling. I look forward to visiting this restaurant again in the very near future!

Don't expect a normal American restaurant here. The food is classic Polish, the decor is classic polish, and the service is classic polish. It's probably more Polish than you can get anywhere else in Arizona. This is a good thing, because it is certainly reflected in the food. First, the food was excellent. We ordered a variety of different foods, and frankly everything tasted like it came right out of our homeland. Delicious. I doubt you can go wrong ordering really anything on the menu. For the picky eaters, try the pirogi. Soft drinks are served in cans, though you can get tea and coffee - I recommend getting coffee with dessert.. It's excellent. Service is like a traditional European restaurant. The waiters won't check on you - you have to signal that you need service. I wouldn't expect it any other way, and I hope you won't fault them for it either. They were otherwise very nice and accommodating. The young cute girl will help you if you have questions about the menu.

I was happy when I found the Polish Cottage about one year ago. The service has always been prompt, courteous and friendly. I LOVE the Zurek sour rye soup. This soup is probably my favorite soup I have ever had in my life. The sweet cheese pierogis are delicious, but I leave the sour cream off. They also have a good selection of imported beers. The pricing is pretty good, depending on what you order.

New menu options include BREAKFAST! I had buttermilk pancakes, pierogies, polish sausage and a potato pancake for breakfast the other day. Everything was really good! I'm so glad this restaurant is doing so well! The service, food and ambiance is wonderful!

I went here on my first meetup on meetup! Yeah me. Our group of 16 was large for the little place and we overwhelmed them a bit. However, the food was spot on! I was excited just walking up to the restaurant, as I could smell the aroma of Europe wafting through the air. I started my meal with a honey beer that was light, sweet and refreshing. I appreciated the frosty mug, since it was over 100 degrees outside. For dinner, I had the potato pancakes that were very authentic and dare I say perfection. Four decent size potato pancakes were served with sour cream, applesauce (I hate when you have to chose) and a sour slaw that was great! I also ordered the cucumber salad which was creamy, sweet, dill-icious and onion free. I would have liked a vat of it. Now. I also had a side of the pickled cucumbers, which was actually a plate of pickles, which was not what I was expecting. But they were great! I had two and the rest I shared. Everyone enjoyed them and I would order them again. I tried a few pierogies off my husband's combo platter and they were good. They added cinnamon to their farmer's cheese, which was a new twist to me. I finished my meal with some of Grandma's cherry liquor, which was goooood! Okrzyki! Everyone at our table were members of the clean plate club! It was so good, that I went home and purchased the Groupon to come back. Next time I am getting the same thing and trying the sour rye soup. Don't worry, I will be getting a doggy bag.

The food here is tasty and a great break from the ordinary; the servers are friendly; the decorating is adorable: if you've never been to Polish Cottage, you owe it to yourself to give it a try. I say these things with full honesty, and yet I also can't bring myself to go all the way up to four stars. I'm sorry, but it's true. Polish Cottage is a perfectly fine Polish food restaurant, with standard staples of the cuisine and a lot of different options that ensure that you'll have a lot of exploring to do before you know for certain what you like. Some of the dishes are actually really delicious; a lot of them are only fine. As long as you aren't averse to Polish food, you won't leave feeling like you had a bad meal, but unfortunately you also probably won't leave feeling blown away. Particular highlights, in my opinion, include the beet soup, the pickle soup, the stuffed cabbage, and the farmer's cheese pierogi (very sweet -- have them for dessert). It's also a lot of fun to get the combination platter and try a whole bunch of different stuff. Again, if you haven't tried this place, you should probably give it a shot. But just don't go in expecting to have an amazing culinary experience: it's simply a place to find some tasty regular Polish food, and that's nothing to be disappointed over.

Wow!! What a gem! We stumbled in here totally by accident and how wonderful it was! Good food, good prices, good service, and good ambiance. What more could you want? I love the interior with the vibrant blue and the cute little decorations everywhere. The first time we were in here the waitress was top notch-- excellent customer service, very nice and friendly. I was happy to be treated so well in a restaurant and made to feel so welcome. We went back a second time taking guests with us this time around, and once again we were not disappointed. Everybody loved the food. We'll definitely be visiting again! Highly recommend their perogies btw :-)

My word, this place was amazing! The decor is quite pretty, and the service is outstanding. The food itself is also spectacular. My fiance and I split the combo platter and ordered some drinks. We both thoroughly enjoyed the range of dishes offered in the combo platter, even though neither of us had tried Polish cuisine before. Don't be intimidated by all the cabbage and pickled veggies! All of the dishes offered in the combo platter balanced each other out beautifully. I had the honey wine with my meal, which was not only delicious, but a perfect match with the hearty fare. All in all, I was very impressed and happy with my meal, with the atmosphere, with the service and with the drinks. I'll definitely be stopping in again next time I'm in Tucson.

Cute decor but the food was incredibly expensive for what you're getting. The pierogis would've been $5 in Chicago. Stingy portions, no side items for a $13 meal and poor flavoring do not make for a good review.

As much as I liked Polish Cottage, I hadn't been back in an embarrassingly long time. That changed yesterday, I went with a friend after a day out. I had the pork cutlet/schnitzel, which came with some tasty potatoes and thin slices of cucumber in sour cream. Normally not a fan of cucumbers, but this was darn tasty and paired well with the potatoes and the pork. I also got a side of the mushroom sauce, which wasn't quite as saucy as I had hoped but was still very tasty. He got a plate of perogi, which he enjoyed. One of the big things I noticed was that they have started putting more effort into plating, which was one of my initial complaints, and that the plates weren't the cheapest slipcast thick gray plates that they had when I went before, they were nice, blue, textured things. I was thinking about it and the reason the first plates bothered me as much as they did was that they make a lot of their food in house, they've clearly put a lot of work into interior design, and to have tasty food come out on generic cafeteria plates was unexpected.

The service was excellent. The food was excellent. The ambience was excellent. I feel like we took a trip to Eastern Europe to have traditional home cooking. My boyfriend's family is Polish, and he was impressed with it's authenticity. We drove down from Phoenix, and will consider merely driving down for the food :)

Went here with some friends who "want to be Polish" and think they know all there is to know. Whether that is true or not, we enjoyed some good food and great service. We ordered the sampler of Peirogis. I liked them all, but my fave was the sauerkraut and mushrooms. Know that sourcream and other add-ons are extra, but not much. I had the polish sausage and it was tasty. I do wish there were some veggies or something on the side, but otherwise it wasenjoyable. In addition, we ended the meal with the Polish Apple cake. It was great. Not too sweet, not dry and just the right portion size. I did have a beer with my meal, and I cannot remember which is was but after telling our server what I enjoyed she had recommended this specific one to me, and it did not disappoint. The service was really good and the food came out pretty quickly. And though Polish is probably not a type of food I would crave, I would definitely come back.

My husband and I had dinner the other night and were pleasantly pleased with the food and the service. We had the two person combo which consisted of hunter's stew, cabbage rolls, smoked sausage, and a sampling of pieogies. Everything was absolutely delicious. The sausage is the best sausage I've had and my favorite pierogies is the potato and cheese. The young wait staff is very informative when my husband asked how the different entrees were prepared and recommended some delicious beer. Will definitely have dinner there again.

Wow, what a find! Even with a substantial Polish population back in my home state of Michigan, I don't recall ever seeing a Polish restaurant. We had lunch there on Christmas Eve. I had pierogies (8) stuffed with potato and cheese, topped with crumbled bacon. Delicious! Topped it off with the warm apple pie, served with a generous amount of whipped cream. My wife loved the stuffed cabbage rolls. Not only was the place nearly packed at lunchtime, people were coming in droves to pick up orders for Christmas. If you enjoy tasting new beers, they have an extensive selection of bottled beers, both Polish and Russian. I'm determined to return again for lunch before we head home to southern California after the first.

Sometimes little pockets of filled dough provide unspoken words of comfort to the soul. When I'm in need of said soul soothing I head to Polish Cottage for pierogies. A plate of potato/cheese and beefy goodness with the addition of caramelized onions and sour cream transports me to a place of tranquility. We've also enjoyed other food selections such as the sausage, Hunter's Stew and cucumber salad. I do wish for sausages made in-house, but maybe they can get there in the future. I can't vouch for authenticity in the food but to this non-Polish gal it tastes darn good. The decor has genuine appeal that contributes a relaxing feel to the overall dining experience. I love the attention to detail that was put into creating the atmosphere. The service is generally very friendly. On our last visit the waitress was new, but what she lacked in knowledge of the menu/drink selections, she made up for in personality and attentiveness. Even when we come in close to closing time we are made to feel welcome and appreciated.

This is the first Polish restaurant I've ever been to but it's one of my FAVORITE places to eat in Tucson. My girlfriend brought me here and she's a 1/4 Polish Chicago girl who thinks this place is pretty damn good too. Chicago Pole endorsed and 1st timer favorite, you won't be disappointed! Everything is good here! Make sure to have the farmers cheese blintzes for dessert, guaranteed foodgasm.

I visited Polish Cottage with my dad on September 21st. I had the sampler, similar to one I had at the other Polish restaurant in town, Amber Restaurant & Gallery . The Polish Cottage pierogies, sausage and hunter stew were all quite good, but not wonderful. I had forgotten that hunter stew is basically sauerkraut with bits of meat; here there was not much meat to distinguish it. The service was fast and friendly , the decor quaint and comfortable.

I have eaten at Polish Cottage three times with my husband, and the food and service are consistently good. The decor is very Old World Polish, cozy, and authentic. My grandmother was Hungarian and Polish cuisine is very similar, so I was in my comfort zone here! We have been happy with everything we've ordered. I have tried three of the four types of pierogi and all are best with caramelized onion. I love these pierogis so much that I have a hard time ordering another entree. The potato and cheese is the best I've had, the mushroom & sauerkraut was interesting, and the beef was tender and delicious. Some people say the serving is too small, but this is stick-to-your-ribs food so for me 8 pierogi with salad and dessert left me full. The stuffed cabbage was as good as Grandma made and the portion was appropriate to generous. What I loved was that everything was not over salted, which is so common in restaurants today. You can always add, but you can't take away salt. The cucumber salad is similar to what Grandma made and I inhaled it. The side salads are okay, nothing special. The desserts are to die for. The Apple Cake is fantastically good. The Cheesecake is NOT traditional cheesecake, but oh so tasty. The kolache was okay, but I am comparing it to Grandma's and she was a master baker, so to someone else the kolache will be great. This is a new go-to place for us and we'll definitely return.

I enjoyed the cabbage rolls, it was my 1st time there. nice presentation. I tried the beet soup, nice flavor but would prefer it to have more texture and not be so watery. A thicker consistency same with the pickle soup.

First time there. We had a great time and was impressed with the waitress Sharon who knew the menu, the beers, the history...it enhanced our experience. My fav was the potato n cheese pierogi with bacon on top. Everyone liked their meals --will go again.

Fabulous little gem serving very authentic Polish dishes! Being from northern Germany where the cuisine overlaps with many of the Polish specialties, I was impressed. The stuffed cabbage tasted like it should, flavorful and tender. The Hunter's Stew was delicious as well, as were the pierogis. We had the combination plate which had all of these items. Topped off with a polish honey beer, very tasty! The service was very friendly and attentive, the serving sizes generous but not too large. We will definitely return! But next time we'll make reservations....

Darling little place! I took my Polish papa to have a late lunch at the Polish Cottage today. My dad had been several times and it met his "Polish food should taste like this" expectations. We were greeted and seated immediately. We scanned the menu and decided right away what we were in the mood for. I am always in the mood for pierogies! Loved how I could mix and match and took full advantage of that. I tried all of them and am prepared with my order for next time. I liked them all but LOVED the potato and cheese. Next time I am going to have four potato and cheese, one beef and one sweet farmer's cheese. My dad ordered the stuffed cabbage and was one happy Polish Prince, as he used to be known in NY. It was a nice portion of food but no to-go box was required for him as he ate every last bite! I am so very pleased that T-town now has two great Polish restaurants to have my pierogi fix.

The pierogi, both the potato and cheese and the beef were very good though would have been better if they were a bit more hot. The sour cream was really nice and if it isn't homemade you would never be able to tell. The Reuben sandwich was terrific. The quality of the corned beef was better than most I have had in Tucson. Also tried the cheesecake. It wasn't very sweet but creamy and rich. Additionally, the service was impeccable and the decor delightful. Visited because I had a Livingsocial voucher, will return to try the cabbage rolls and Hunters stew.

You'd think a restaurant founded and run by a Pole from Warsaw would, of course, be authentic. The food is indeed tasty, but it's not the best representation of Polish food I've had ... even in Phoenix. I had the sampler platter. Quantity of food was reasonable; but me and my partner, big eaters both (thank God for gyms) had to go out later on to get Quiznos. What does THAT tell you? The pierogies were more like thin ravioli, which is absolutely NOT typical for Polish pierogi; the cabbage roll was good, but the meat and rice filling was so compact, I was convinced I was having meatloaf covered in a cabbage blanket (even the typical meat loaf tomato sauce was draped over it); the sausage was OK, but hey: for $20, can I have more than a snausage-sized piece? The "bowl" of soup was good (Zurek), but the bowl was rather small ... I thought it might have been the optionally priced "cup". The roll that went along with dinner was nice, I'll give them that. The decor was mainly southern Polish and charming and the service was above average. Given the prices, I'm going to guess you guys in Tucson are paying for the privilege of having "exotic" Polish food. But don't feel bad: in Phoenix, we pay through the nose at the one Polish restaurant we have. Overall, the food is worth the trip, if you're there. Pick up your fork, say "smacznego" (bon appetit) to the person joining you and wonder not whether cheaper and better food from Poland is available nearby (it isn't). TIP OF THE DAY: Yes, the Polish pop music in the background is authentic, but as welcome to the dining experience as an oom-pah band in an upscale German restaurant or a Mariachi band in a small and tightly packed Mexican Restaurant. Seriously: lose the music!

This place is adorable. The decor is quaint, clean and very very cute. Sharon, our server was a doll, polite, friendly and incredibly helpful. As far as the food, I personally chose the breaded cutlet with the diced potatoes (amazing!) Im kind of picky with food and don't eat sausage let alone Sauerkraut. I loved loved loved the food. My boyfriend raves about the place every time he's in Tuscon and their authentic Polish beers. Definitely worth a try for everyone!

The Polish Cottage really captures home cooked Polish food and feel. I can not believe how well they replicate traditional Polish home-style cooking. I miss my grandmothers so much after this meal. I felt like my grandmother who was an amazing cook must have been in thee kitchen cooking. The Pierogi's are fresh and handmade with lots of different options for toppings and insides. The vegetable salad and fish is just like home to me. It is important to note that this is traditional cooking so if you are looking for something Americanized and more trendy this may not be the place to go. Polish food and preparation has a specific feel and taste that is different than other cultures and you can tell this chef and staff know all about it. The service is fabulous and the prices fantastic. There are so many other things to try and I am excited to go back to try the imported beers!

Okay, this place is still consistently good. I'm not going to say it's perfect, but I've been really pleased after every meal. Kind of becoming my go-to spot after seeing a movie at El Con. Can't go wrong with the combo plate. I wish they'd get different chairs, because they take away a bit from the charming decor but maybe that's something they'll be able to do eventually. Overall it's just a great comfort food kind of place. Low-key atmosphere and smiling staff every single time I've been in.

I would definitely use the word "like" not "love" with this place. Did I enjoy my dinner? Yes. Would I come back? Maybe. I definitely loved trying polish food out for the first time (however, I can't say I know what authentic polish food tastes like) but I can't deny that I felt slightly underwhelmed. Let's start with the pros: the service was extremely friendly and timely. Our server managed to stay cheery and nice even though she was the only server on a Friday evening. Another plus was the fact that they serve purely polish food and beverages. While we didn't try the polish beer, it was fun to see on the menu. On the other hand, I have mixed feelings about the food. I found the Peirgois to be tasty, but nothing to write home about. The chicken was also well cooked and good, but, again, nothing out of the ordinary. All in all, I really enjoyed my experience here, and would recommend this place to something looking to try something new.

Ah, Yelp's International Supper Club has introduced me to yet another little Tucson gem. Everything from my the delightful manager Sharron who assisted me with my reservation and selecting some appetizers in advance for our group, to the setting to the food was fantastic. This is one darling little place that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside...or could it be their unique vodka selection? (The brave Dawn K took a shot of Vodka with raspberry and tabasco sauce before our dinner arrived....her response? "It was quite tasty."). Being that this was my first ever Polish dinner, I had no expectations of what the food was supposed to taste like. Thankfully, we had a couple veterans in our group. I quickly learned that there's no better way to start a Polish meal than with a variety of Pierogi! We started things off right with a potato and cheese Pierogi and the sauerkraut. We also had the potato pancakes, which were my least favorites, mostly because they got cold really fast! I looooved the cheese and potato Pierogi topped with caramelized onion, bacon and sour cream. My only regret is not ordering the beef pierogi too! Since I have a hard time committing to one dish, the combo platter was perfect for me. And quite generous too. Two cabbage rolls, hunters stew, your choice of three Pierogi and a Polish Sausage. This was the perfect introduction to Polish food so the next time I come back I'll start my meal with an order of beef pierogies and cabbage rolls for my entree. If they serve the Polish sausage on the side I'll have that too! Highlights were the beef pierogie, stuffed cabbage roll and the sausage. The sausage was smokey and robust. I'm a little confused about the Hunters Stew, since it was served on the platter with everything else. I imagined it would come in a bowl? I forgot to ask our server about it, so I'll have to follow up on my next visit. Also worth noting is their beer and vodka selection. They serve at least 10 Polish beers with no translation on the menu, so you'll have to ask your server, but my choice was a lot like a Pilsner. It was nutty and crisp. I did not drink vodka, but our server did tell us about their extensive vodka selection that is worth coming back to try out. I'm a officially a fan!

What a great little place. Small and adorably decorated, the atmosphere is quiet and quaint and the waitstaff is always pleasant and eager to please. The food is delicious--my personal favorites are the kielbasa (I'm not a huge sausage fan but it's really outstanding), the pierogis (especially the beef, saurkraut/mushroom, and the oddly tasty sweet farmer's cheese), and the beet soup. The only items we haven't loved have been the potato pancake (basically greasy hashbrowns rather than a typical pancake) and the vegetable salad (mayonnaise-based, like a potato salad), which tasted fine but were too rich for us.

It's great to see a restaurant that serves food from eastern Europe. the pierogis were good. The pickle soup (I know, I know "pickle soup?") and white borscht were great. Service was friendly and attentive. can't wait to go back for some more pierogis.

Today I stopped in for lunch. It was my first visit. First of all, the decor is adorable! The waitress was pleasant and prompt (although my order was messed up). Food was hot and fast, and portions were large. There were some problems, though... I asked about lunch specials. There were NONE. The waitress did get my attention when she told me about the breaded veal cutlet (which I LOVE!). My mouth watered in anticipation. Alas, it was disappointing. It came with mushroom sauce/gravy on top, so I specifically requested that it be served on the side (not only because I'm not crazy about 'shrooms, but I also didn't want the breading on the veal to get all soggy). The waitress forgot to put down my request. She did apologize and offered to send it back to the kitchen, but I decided to forge ahead anyway (in the interest of time and also because she was the ONLY wait staff in the dining room during the lunch-hour rush so such an error was understandable; clearly she was overwhelmed). Sure enough, the breading became soggy from the mushroom stuff. That said, I'm glad that the cutlet was accompanied by the mushroom melange because that was the ONLY flavor to the whole dish!! There were NO seasonings whatsoever in the breading, only bread crumbs. The cucumber salad was nothing but cucumber slices immersed in a watered-down sour cream "sauce." There were no herbs, onions, or any type of flavoring whatsoever. I read online that mizeria is supposed to contain DILL, but there was no dill in mine at all. The pan-fried potatoes weren't much better. NO flavor at all, and not much texture there either -- the wonderful crispy brown bits that usually accompany REAL pan-fried taters were not there. In fact, in the huge pile of potato squares on the plate I counted three pieces that were a little bit tan, indicating that they had seen the inside of a pan. This was the most BLAND, BORING food I have ever eaten in my life! It was COMPLETELY devoid of flavor and like eating cardboard. EVERY dish that I had DESPERATELY needed SALT. Yes, that's right folks -- the chef didn't even S&P these dishes, that's how BLAND and TASTELESS they all were. I have a few other complaints about this place: (1) There are NO lunch specials! My entree was the only size available -- the dinner portion -- and it went for $17.95. That's pricey for a lunch. (2) There was NO bread on the table. I noticed that some folks did have bread served with their meals. Perhaps mine didn't come with bread because it came with potatoes? At any rate, at these prices one would expect some fresh bread on the table with butter or other condiments. Some superb bread MIGHT have helped make up for the other disappointing fare. This food struck me as completely uninspired. Since this was my foray into eating Polish cuisine, I am trying not to let it taint my perception of that country's fare. Because of the food, I have no choice but to give Polish Cottage a one-star rating. I note that most ratings here are fairly good, which makes me wonder if I went there on an "off" day. For what it's worth, there were two women dining beside me who looked -- and sounded -- less than thrilled with their lunch.

Since my husband is Polish descent & myself by 47 years of marriage were pleased to discover the Polish Cottage. The service was friendly & fast. The food was very good, some slightly diffferent than my mother-in-law (who taught me)produced. I got the combination plate (yum) and my husband got the stuffed cabbage. We decided right then & there that we would return.

  • Annette S.

The perogis and the soup were very good, but the breaded chicken was dry. Depending on what entree you want, your experience may be better or worse than ours was. We had reservations on Valentines Day, they called us and told us our table would not be ready in time, we were seated about 15 minutes later. The people working there was pleasant, but I'm not sure they can handle the rush of a lot of people. We are going to go back and give them another try. Their strengths seemed to be their perogis and there are still more items to try. The decor was colorful and authentically Polish and the seating was comfortable, but not intimate. There are no booths in the restaurant. Best seats are near the window for couples, there are only two seats by the window actually. It is easy to get to if you take the bus, it's right on Broadway, but be aware that the transit system in Tucson is very poor.

Such a sweet place. It's brand-newness shows through. I like the decor. Warm genuine service. Ate with a party of eight and food came out slightly erratically. Pork cutlet was a little dry. "Fried" potatoes were a little boiled. Mustard was excellent. Sausage was good. Would love them to make their own. Best part was an authentic, Eastern European/Russian, beer and vodka list (I didn't try any wine). Great beer! Fascinating vodka. They didn't feel pressure to include any cheap domestics in their quality list. Seems like as Polish Cottage is broken in, it will get better and better.

I love Polish food and the Cottage has a handle on authenticity. The decor would be kitsch if you don't know Polish folk, but the spic and span little gingerbread cottage is a breath of Warsaw. We were greeted by three staff members, the first of whom spoke with a heavy Polish accent. All were knowledgeable and warm. The hungry, handsome fellow I was lucky enough to be dining with ordered the pierogies and got to mix and match: four mushroom-sauerkraut and four potato-cheese. Topped with thick sour cream, these were yummy, although they could have been warmer. My kielbasa (smoked) had been grilled and was juicy, although not spectacular. The accompanying roll was dry and inedible. The coffee here is strong, and the selection of Polish beer is impressive. We had a dark ale that was sweet and tangy. Polish food is simple in nature, but a few side selections would round out the menu

I aboslutely loved this place! Their farmers cheese pierogis were made fresh and were delightfully tasty. Be warned it is a sweeter cheese and maybe thought of more as a dessert. The kielbasa sausage came with sauted onions and a great big bun that left me wanting more. Only downside is they ran out of my polish beer before I could have a sip! Excellent service! Price was great! Definitely worth the 5 stars.

I am from Russia and finding good, authentic eastern-European food in Tucson is absolutely impossible - until now. We stumbled on the place completely by chance. The interior is really cute, blue walls with small traditional objects on wooden shelves. There was no server to sit us down, but that's okay; we just took one of the available tables. The food really made me reminisce about my time in Russia and my grandma's cooking - the meat and the cheese pirogis were particularly delicious. The Golubzy were also quite good and exactly as I remembered them. Overall a great experience with good, filling food, coupled with a nice atmosphere. I definitely want to go there again. The only negative point is the wait. There was only one person cooking that day and the food took a while to appear, as well as the servers in general (everything took forever). It's okay if you are with friends and you don't mind spending quite a while there, but it is definitely not the place to go if you are in a rush. I understand that it is a new place and that they have not figured it all out yet, and that hopefully they will hire more personnel in the future.

  • Kyleen S.

I want to give Polish Cottage 5 stars - I really do! They have delicious hand-made pierogies (hard to find unless we make them ourselves) and their sausage is phenomenal. The Golombki lacks a little in texture compared to what I'm used to, but the taste makes up for it. Served with just the right amount of sauce, too. The hunter's stew is rich and meaty and the perfect hearty compliment to the other dishes. The atmosphere is quaint and cozy - Feels like a nice warm home. We love stopping by here when we're in town. The servers have been very friendly and efficient, and the manger is genuinely proud to be serving people this delicious food. They are knowledgeable on their alcohol selections, as well as the process of making each dish and where all the ingredients come from (impressive to find staff that truly are this invested in the food they serve). So why only four stars? The price for the amount of food. It's a little on the pricier end of the spectrum for casual dining, and the portions are a bit small. I understand that these foods are authentic and time-intensive (my husband is Ukrainian so I know all about what goes into making pierogies and golombki by hand) but I have been disappointed each time that it takes ordering more than one plate to leave satisfied. That said - I recommend this place to anyone who wants to try some true Polish food. Delicious!

Went Sunday with V. I was feeing like the hyena's in Lion King.....no food in my tummy all day....just coffee and water....not smart. We arrived about 3pm, very empty. I ordered the combo plate, since clearly it was the most food they offered. The Pierogi were awesome as usual, the sausage was dang good too. The hunters stew and stuffed cabbage kinda got mixed together though.....neither stood out...I want to go back for the cabbage...and eat it on its own...I owe the cabbage that. Please patronize this place...and others like it. Not much culture in Tucson....need to keep the mom and pop places going...or it will be only OG's, Applebees, and Burger joints left....

I have to agree The Polish Cottage is a charming and clean place with a friendly and attentive staff. The food is reasonably priced and certainly authentic enough for this Polish reviewer originally from Chicago. The menu is small, but there is a decent sampling of Polish dishes. I particularly enjoyed the breaded cutlet and Julie is hooked on the stuffed cabbage. At my last visit I noticed they were offering mushroom sauce as a side and tried it out. It was a welcome topping to the cutlet but be prepared that you get a bowl full for an extra $3.50. I would've preferred half of that amount for a lesser price but that's quibbling. The pirogi is very good. Not like Mom's but that is a bar way too high! Great selection of Polish beers. The portions are decent but not gargantuan as many restaurants serve. We always finish our plates and there are no doggie bags but the reasonable prices reflect the portion size. I've dined there a number of times and The Polish Cottage is in our rotation. Oh, Mom gave it a thumbs up when in Tucson for her last visit!

I tried this little place for a late lunch and I'm glad I did. The food was delicious and they had a unique selection of yummy polish beers that were all very reasonably priced. I ordered the Potato and Cheese Pierogis and the White Borsch. Everything was very tasty and freshly made. I have to give warning though the beers are large, tasty and very strong, one of the best values I've seen anywhere. Finally the service was very friendly and attentive. The waitress was happy to be working there and really cared about what she was doing. Definitely worth going back.

Update & Downgrade: My fifth time at Polish Cottage may be my last... they got greedy. Downgraded from 4 stars to 2. How increasing the price for the cabbage rolls to $10 goes hand in hand with decreasing their quality is beyond me. From pricey to expensive and from yummy to bland... perfect recipe for disaster. Good riddance, Polish Cottage, I am sure that you will be able to survive on the damaged taste buds of the average eaters that will fall for you nice paper garlands and your waitress' exquisite manners. Previous Review: Decor somewhat surreal - but their stuffed cabbage has me return... to the rhythm of once a month. And the rolls are just as they are back in the old country. Though the waiter didn't know compote - but maybe the kid waiter was just too young and grew up on sodas... Or that's only available in Greenpoint - where the girls address me in Polish when I come up the subway stairs. (Even though I am not Polish nor of Polish descent...) But I digress: other dishes mostly mediocre - but the cabbage rolls have me come back. And their pickle soup is quite decent, too. Go try it out. Oh,did I mention that my friends (German, Chinese, Japanese) really liked it, too?

I love this place. I've had the pierogies, red borscht, pickle soup, Polish beer, and apple cake on my various visits. I love that I can walk there, and it is also a great place to bring my mom, who is addicted to the stuffed cabbage.

3.5! I brought my mother in law here who is of polish heritage and she loved it! The food was tasty, the staff was welcoming, friendly and very helpful. I thought the portions were a bit small and the plates lacked a little something, vegetables maybe? But everything was flavorful and made with love. Parking was a little trouble though, it's a tight squeeze.

This is the coolest restaurant I've been to in a long time. The decor is beautiful and welcoming. Even the flooring makes you feel comfortable, as strange as that sounds! My husband's family is Polish, and my father's family is Polish, so we really appreciate traditional food. I had the sweet farmer's cheese pierogi, and my husband had a mix of beef pierogi and potato/cheese pierogi. We both also ordered a roll. The pierogi were SO GOOD! Sweet and chewy and flavorful...it was amazing. Neither of us could stop raving about how good they were. The roll was huge...and so delicious. Our waiter was very attentive and kept our drinks filled. We looked at the dessert menu, and next time we will definitely save room, the apple cake sounds amazing! For both of us, the bill came to $20. Can't beat that. We will be back many many times :-)

My husband, son, and I came here today. I had been wanting to come here since seeing on yelp that they had just opened. We often make pierogis so we were quite excited to get some. My husband ordered the six pierogis with potato and cheese stuffing with sour cream, caramelized onions, and bacon on top. My son ordered the same but with only bacon on top. I ordered the hunters stew which came with a medium sized piece of kielbasa with it. Here's the deal I think the place is adorable it's small and charming. Also it was quite busy today which is always a good sign. A small group came in after us speaking polish to the staff and that just made the experience even more fun. As for the food I was pleased with my meal I did have to salt my hunter's stew quite a bit more but what can I say I like salt. My son loved his food and as for my husband he was pleased with his food too. He also loved the caramelized onions. The only downfall the menu is small and our waiter seemed like this may be his first time waiting. However, we will definitely be back. This place is adorable and affordable!

Saw a review on Yelp about this Restaurant and like a good food guru I had to try it. Being from Ashkenazi roots I thought it might be Shtetl (Yiddish) food that I still can smell from my mother-in-laws kitchen. She made a Beet Borsht that was amazing. I had it the night before I gave birth to my daughter 49 years ago that sent me into raging labor by morning. They had Beet Borscht on the menu but it lacked the fat, sweet and sour taste and the flanken that was in my mother-in-laws Borscht soup. Never mind the clogging of your arteries. Only kidding, Their Borsht was tasty with spinach, egg whites and certainly a healthy version of Beet Borscht I remember. The restaurant was not what I would have dreamed about. It is just wonderful traditional Polish food. The pierogi are simply delicious. Several different kinds of fillings in the pierogi with some awesome toppings. I had cheese and potatoes, mushrooms and sauerkraut with caramelized onions on top. Hubby had the Hunters Stew which was equally as good. I guess whatever they shot the day before they threw in the stew with sauerkraut and a grilled sausage. Sure was tasty. The staff is friendly and the owner came out and chatted with us. He and his wife I believe are the cooks. Everything is made from scratch so being a food purist that is a plus. We were there about 5.00 PM and the place was continually having customers march in. It's a new place and worthy of coming back. Prices are very reasonable. Nothing over $10.00. The ambience is that of a cottage with a hearth and gives the feeling that you are in someone's home.

Thank goodness 4 the Polish Cottage - my heritage is Slovack/Russian: this is the only restaurant in Tucson that serves the food of my childhood: borsht, pierogis, kolbasy & stuffed cabbage. All items, except the smoked kolbasy, is home-made & almost as delicious as my mother & grandmother's! Small, but cozy, decorated like someone's Polish cottage. Ample portions, reasonable prices & friendly service make for a pleasant dining experience - ck it out. please

I wanted to like this place, I really did. I've been dying for a good polish place in Tucson and Amber Restaurant is just too pricey. So I had high hopes. But, sadly, I have to say it fails on most every account. First, the good, the ambiance is nice. The decoration matches the "cottage" name well. The place is colorful and inventive. The service, however, was horrible. We came in and there was no hostess or no sign telling us to sit ourselves, so we had to figure it out. No biggee, though. It's a causal atmosphere. Then, we waited over ten minutes before anyone came to wait on us, with the server passing by several times without so much as dropping off water or menus. Finally, when she did come, she had no menus and we had to ask for them. During our time there, two people got up and left from frustration and two more were turned away after waiting for several minutes because there was no seating and no one bothered to help them. When we got our food it was, in a word, "meh." We got pierogi, bigos and potato pancakes. The pancakes were tasty enough but the pierogi was served lukewarm and, well, boring. We got the sauerkraut and mushroom ones and they just were nothing worth noting. The bigos was good, but also not very warm and lacking in general. Overall, the food was okay, but completely unspectacular and overpriced (even if much cheaper than Amber.) Six pierogi with sour cream were six dollars. That's sushi prices for mushroom-stuffed noodles. Our total bill came to $24 without drinks and I was still a little hungry after. I'm really hoping this place turns it around, and I know restaurants have growing pains but, right now, I have to say its overpriced, mediocre and has the worst service I've seen in years. Not worth going back.

I saw this place on my drive home to work one night and decided to give it a try a day or two later. I am not that familiar with Polish food but wanted to broaden my palate. Anyway, my husband and I met for lunch here today and it was wonderful! The waitress was one of the most polite waitresses I have ever had in this kind of a place ( especially in Tucson) and the food was great! My husband had the Hunter's Stew and I had 6 pierogies and was able to try every type. I cannot pick a favorite, and I enjoyed every single one. We asked for the apple dessert that everyone on here was raving about but apparently it was in the oven for at least another hour. the waitress explained that the baker is very careful when making this dessert which made us want it even more. She suggested we come back later that evening for a glass of wine and dessert! Anyhow, I will definitely be back to try other menu options!

Mixed review. Food was excellent. Nothing fancy, just good "from scratch" basic polish cusine at a reasonable price. But, in its first week, terrible service. There were three front-of-the-house staff, and between them all they simply couldn't manage like twelve tables! Our order had to be taken twice by two waitresses; there seemed to be no system for even knowing if orders had been taken. Let's see if service improves... The food itself was as good if not better than the more expensive competitor on Tanque Verde.

Walking in to this place, the decor and smells takes me back to my grandmother's kitchen. And oh do they do it right! While there is another Polish place in town, its a bit out of my price point for visiting on a frequent basis - but the Polish Cottage is fairly inexpensive and has all my old favorites. My favorites are the Gobki and the perogi with farmers cheese - so tasty!

Awesome food at a great mom and pop place. Ask for Sharon, she was a great server with fabulous recommendations!

Tragic service and mediocre food. I too wanted to love it but left disappointed. I don't think Polish Cottage will be around for long.

Very cute, good service. Terrible background music, but ignorable. The food is inexpensive and very reminiscent of my childhood family dinners! Yummy bigos, good pierogi, excellent soups. The pork cutlet with potatoes and mizeria is particularly nostagia-inducing for me. I have eaten here several times and plan to continue!
