Editting my review, because another employee called back, was super nice, offered a couple extra sodas to make up for the hassle. Way to go! Also, will note that the delivery girl is super nice. Good recovery guys! Decent subs, but took over an hour for delivery and, literally had whoever answered the phone when I called to have them fix my Grubhub delivery that they messed up speak to me in such an abrupt and curt manner, I was shocked. If he's upset at Grubhub, who he blamed for the mistake, the customer should never be the one to be the victim of his frustration. I literally had to just interrupt him as he went on and on to ask for my order to just be fixed. Even when I noted that we ordered the same thing through Grubhub, they didn't get it wrong. Just another time in this day and age where people would rather place blame instead of recognizing an issue and doing what they can to fix it, and instead, treating the customer as if they did something wrong. Dudes, if Grubhub is confusing for you, stop using it or figure out how it works even if you're not used to it. Handling issues, no matter how good your food is, is a HUGE factor in how reviews turn out. Relax dude and know when and who to take your frustration out on.

Finally had a chance to try this place after wanting to for a couple of years. Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for take out, after being ignored at East Coast Subs because they were massively understaffed. PJ Subs is more of a bar with sandwiches, but they do have take out. I entered and was immediately greeted by the very friendly and outgoing bartender Patrick There were a few other patrons at the bar, all very friendly. I got an Italian sub to go, which was really good. Next time I'll get a beer or two, seems like a nice place to hang out and watch the game.

It was good. I'm still searching for the same type of Hoagie I would get in Pennsylvania. Shredded lettuce, toasted bread, oil and vinegar.. Nothing compares to it.. So yes, it was good, but I wont rush back.

I found this palce on Yelp and decided to stop and try it out. I enjoyed a sandwich, I think it was called 'The Pizza'. Roast beef, with marinara sauce and melted mozzarella and french fries.... It was a great sandwich and a couple of beers with my lunch. It is a great spot, look forward to taking my family there.... I think the neigborhood (area) is worth exploring.

Excellent French dip and came before the time expected. Sandwich was very good and came with everything expected and was hot, not a ice cold delivery of a hot sandwich like some places (silver mine subs).

The BEST sandwiches EVER. I've had the Chizzo, the cheesesteak, and the Bully sandwiches, and they were all sooooo tasty. The curly fries are also perfection. Docked a star just because service is painfully slow- for sure not the place to stop by if you're in a hurry. If you've got time to spare though, great place to grab a bite, beer, and chill for a game.

Great service and great food! I've ordered delivery from PJ's several times during my stay in Tuscon and I'm always impressed with their customer service. Twice the manger went out of his way to call me when me when the delivery time was going to be longer than expected (usually it's super quick and on time). They don't skimp on the meat either! This is my go to place in Tuscon for a reliable quick sandwich fix!

3 blocks from home, a definite advantage. Ordered online. How convenient! Tasty eggplant parmigiana...a bit too much mozzarella (?...it might be some other cheese) then I prefer but many would feel all that cheese was a plus. The cheese was removable. Tasty, toasted sub roll. Didn't realize the inside had a bar setup, so while you're waiting for your food to go, you can refresh yourself with the beverage of your choice.

Pj's makes a MIGHTY fine tuna sub! It is becoming my go-to sammich when I order, followed closely by the Chizzo (Italian sauage with peppers and onions). We recently discovered that they deliver to my home, which is awesome for when I'm studying and have no food in the house. The people who take my order are always courteous, and the people who deliver are very kind and are quick to crack jokes with you. The delivery service here is awesome! I never have to wait too long, and everything makes it to my front door before the bread gets soggy and gross. So, as mentioned previously, the tuna is where it's at. There is no relish in their tuna, thank goodness, it's just delicious. No nonsense, just tuna the way the tuna gods intended. The Chizzo is really good, but there are sometimes when it's just too spicy for me (keep in mind, I'm a big wimp...so it's probably fine for any normal person). The husband gets the meat ball sub, which I normally do not care for, but this one is incredible! The bread is perfect, the sauce is tangy, the cheese is all melty, the balls are all meaty....yum... And the sides! Let me tell you! The fried zucchini are something to behold. They are crispy, and they aren't all breading with a tiny sliver of zucchini. In fact, they are just the opposite! The mushroom are the same, though they can be a little hit or miss....sometimes they have been left out for too long and are squishy, sometimes they weren't in the fryer for long enough and are almost all raw, and sometimes they are the picture of the perfect fried shroom. Their ranch...dear lord...their ranch...it is delicious and the perfect consistency...yes, their ranch is some of the best I've had. The good news is, I don't live particularly close, and they still deliver in a reasonable time and for a very reasonable price. I will order them again. And again. And again.

I stumbled in here yesterday as I was riding my bike to work, wanted a quick bite to eat, and I was famished. I have rode or driven by here a million times. It's right next to my barber and I frequent Seven Cups a lot as well, so I thought I would give it a try. PJ Subs is, well...leaves much to be desired. The club sub was edible, though the chopped meats tasted freezer burnt and/or old. The bar area that I ate in was very run down and dirty as if it had not been deep cleaned for a year or two and the stools were beat up (could use some refreshing). I did not expect a lot from this establishment and was not surprised by anything. However, what really become bothersome and annoying was the constant ringing of a buzzer going off from what sounded like the kitchen area. On top of this, they let the phone ring and go unanswered several times. I understand staff may be preoccupied with other tasks, but please just answer the phone and turn off your timers. No one wants to dine with obnoxious noise distractions as those, even if it is just a sub and beer place.

The first time I ordered here I was quite impressed with how good their French Dip was and their fries were salty perfection! The online ordering went smooth, although their website is not up to date & as basic as you can get. Delivery was within 30 minutes so I was happy with that. The reason I am only giving one stars is because the second time I ordered, I ordered the same thing except when I got it my fries were ice cold not just room temperature but ice cold, and my sandwich was covered with Swiss cheese. Everybody knows a French dip does not have cheese on it nor did it have it on it just two days ago when I ordered from this place for the first time. So I called to let them know that they gave me the wrong sandwich and a lady proceeded to argue with me and tell me all their French dips come with Swiss cheese. I told her that they didn't in the past and if she would take a moment and look on her website that it does not say Swiss cheese. She proceeded to raise her voice and argue with me, then finally said "what do you want me to do about it?" All snotty. When I told her well obviously I would like the sandwiches that I paid for I do not like Swiss cheese I do not want any cheese I want what I ordered, she hung up on me. So I called the delivery driver and let them know I want the sandwich that I ordered. An hour later the very nice delivery driver delivered my sandwich with many apologies. She really was so nice at that point I had forgiven everything and we just wanted to eat I was absolutely ravenous and took a big bite out of my sandwich almost inhaling it. There was something crunchy in it which I thought a bit odd but figured maybe it was an onion that didn't cook all the way and at that point I didn't care I was starving but by the time I finished chewing and swallowed it my mouth was on absolute fire and I could feel a slow burn in the pit of my stomach. Within seconds I could taste jalapeno. So I called back after searching through the rest of the sandwich and finding One very small piece of jalapeno left. It was pretty obvious to me that the girl who is pissy on the phone thought she'd be cute by sticking a jalapeno in my sandwich. There was only one in the whole sandwich unfortunately I got most of it in the first bite. The manager proceeded to tell me his employees wouldn't give me something like that and that his sandwiches are quality check before going out. Hmm really??? Then how did the first sandwich get out of the place wrong? And how come my stomach is still burning it now or later? (I can't eat jalapenos anymore due to an ulcer) so basically my stomach is in pain and I can't eat. He then proceeded to tell me how he's been in business 10 years and he knows what he's doing... Yada yada yada. I am really disappointed as this was going to be one of my favorite lunch places as I eat out quite often for lunch and I really try to support local businesses but there is no way I will ever order from here again. $15 per sandwich, small fry and a 12 ounce soda is ridiculous to have to throw away. I would've been quite willing to try the place again and was quite willing to leave a good review as mistakes happen but the attitude by the employee, hanging up on me, and the managers total indifference to his customers has left more than just A bad taste and burn in my mouth.... Obviously he's not looking to stay in business as he does not care about his customers. Go to Choice greens instead. You will spend less, eat healthier, and everybody has an awesome, positive attitude!

Love the food, especially the Fina. It's a small operation so if you're in a big rush, maybe not your best bet to eat in but calling ahead 15 min or so works fine. The staff is very nice and accommodating.

Good grub. I love that you can order online and I tend to take advantage when I've done a little too much imbibing the night before. Consistently good food and very fast delivery keeps me coming back to them time and again. I've had their 'best damn turkey sandwich period', the Italian, curly fries, fried shrooms, fried zucchini, wings, tenders with buffalo sauce, cheese sticks and ceasar with chicken. I have always been satisfied, definitely a lot of food for your buck, well worth it.

Wings are great, restaurant is dirty, run down and the owner creeps out my female friends. Being so close to the U of A campus, this place needs to embrace students and let them take home the wings they don't finish, I mean who doesn't let you take your left overs home? Owner spent time complaining why he doesn't have any business, maybe he should have taken that time to clean the place up instead of sit at the bar playing video games. Where's John Taffer when you need him? If it weren't for the wings, would never grace this establishment with my time / money.

Sandwiches are great, I had the Best damned Turkey 6" with a small fry and a pint of IPa, - without checking price on the beer...the waitress, while efficient and pleasant suggested another beer. Sure I said. So $15.00 worth of beer later I was presented with a $24.00 bill - before tip. $28.00 and change for lunch? Good food, but this is Not the place you want to come for beers!

This is our go to sandwich place. They have excellent eggplant or chicken Parmesan sandwiches! The marinara sauce is authentic and very tasty. Meat is always fresh and fat free and service is fast. They offer delivery and on-line ordering, too. Try it!

I have to say that I am impressed. I tried PJs for the first time tonight and it was delish! I had the Best Damn Turkey and some fried Zucchini The sandwich is a warm one with melted cheese, turkey (duh), mayo, and tomatoes/lettuce. I ordered it through the Eat24 app and delivery so I was floored that not only did they deliver it in the time allotted but they guy that delivered it was friendly (sorry, anger due to hunger had set in by the time I had even ordered so I don't remember his name) and mentioned that they were super busy tonight. So, I was even more surprised that my sandwich was still warm and exactly what I ordered. The fried Zucchini was super yummy (with Ranch, of course)! The complaint I usually have about getting zucchini through delivery or even take out is that it's usually soggy and cold by the time you get it. That is not the case with PJs! They were crispy and delicious! PJs would have gotten 5Stars but they spaced napkins. (Understandable but 5 is reserved for perfect and I am sure they will hit the mark next time!!)

This place is great. I've never had anything here that I didn't like. I would give them 5 stars but the speed of service is spotty. If you're looking for a quick bite for lunch during the workweek, look elsewhere. But if you want to come for happy hour or for a couple of drinks with a weeknight dinner then this is your place. The fact that they deliver makes this a wonderful hangover option as well. The owner is there most of the time too and he is a great guy! My two favorite items on the menu are the Ragin Cajun and the mozzarella sticks.

Tough to give a rating here because the food was excellent. The lower stars were 100% due to the speed of service. It took over 90 minutes for our party of 6 to complete the meal. Every step where we had to involve the waiter was excruciatingly slow. I don't know if he was the only guy working in the whole place, but a lunchtime meal on a Friday should not take that long. Can't say that I'd go back.

We used to go to PJ's all the time when they were located on Speedway. When they moved, we stopped going. They're farther from our house, and their new location is in a weird little hut-looking bar type of place. We've passed it dozens of times, but never really wanted to go in there. I don't particularly care to go to a bar to get a sandwich. Lately, though, I've been craving the sandwiches we used to enjoy so much. So we decided to suck it up and head into PJ's. Upon entering, you notice a cramped little space full of tables. No menus. There's a sign saying to order at the bar. We decided to sit down for a second and consider our options, if we really wanted to eat here or not. Not a minute later, a girl came up to us, handed us menus, and took our drink order. We were a little bit shocked, since a giant sign said to order at the bar. We weren't expecting to have a sit down restaurant just for sandwiches (even though that's how the Speedway location ran, the sign threw us off). Regardless, we took a look at the menu, which was basically standard sandwiches. My husband got a steak sandwich, and I had a turkey and provolone sandwich. One thing I really liked about PJ's, and still do, is that they use oil and vinegar on their subs. That's actually unique here in Tucson. I find that when I ask for oil and vinegar, I end up with some sort of Italian dressing blend on my sandwich, which is totally not the same. Two of the most simple ingredients are so hard to find in this town, but PJ's does not disappoint. The sandwiches arrived promptly. Even though they said they were 6 inch sandwiches, they appeared to be a little larger, which was awesome! The bread was soft, fresh, and tasty. The meats weren't the highest of quality, but they were still good and flavorful. And plentiful. It was not skimpy on the meat. On my sandwich, I feel like there could have been maybe a slice more cheese on it, but overall it was ok. I didn't taste my husband's sandwich, but he enjoyed it. We also shared an order of small fries. The portion was plenty for two people. I do suspect, however, that they were just frozen Ore-Ida fries. I don't personally mind them at home, but in a restaurant, I hope for something homemade and fresh. Either way, they were fried well and they were cheap, so I didn't actually feel ripped off. The prices in general are pretty good, but they even out when you consider the fact that you have to add a tip to your bill. The sandwiches are much better than most of the chain sub shops though, so I'd gladly give PJ's my business over them any day if I'm in the area and looking for a sub. The service was also very friendly and attentive. All-in-all, I'm glad we decided to give PJ's another try. We'll be back for sure.

I always order for delivery so I can't really say anything about the actual place but the guy on the phone is always super welcoming and warm!!! Hands down best eggplant parmesan sandwich in Tucson. The mixed cheese is good too but they skimp on the lettuce and tomato. I usually try to order somewhere else each time but there are just a few yummy places that deliver so u dont mind being a valued customer here. I just wish the sandwiches were a tad cheaper but other than that, no complaints!
