Yum! Was in town for a week from California, came here for my boyfriends birthday with his family... Sooo amazing! I got a half rack of ribs which the meat literally slipped off the bone as I picked it up...(: best ribs I've ever had! Mashed potatoes were eh. salad was bleh. The green chills with tortillas had shreddede m.. Pork? Or beef? I'm not sure but either way it was very dry and chewy :/ our waiter was Bart and he gives the restaurant a really great vibe! Strawberry lemonade is apparently not on the menu but he went ahead and made me one from the bar, very sweet! I definitely will be asking my bf to bring me here again when I'm back in town (: I can now only dream of such ribs until then.

Wear a tie! ...a cheap tie... Savers has them for $2! This is a run-down steak house with mediocre service, dull food, and not much else. AMBIENCE: 2.5 stars. OK, it is a bit cheesy, but you do sense the history of this place, with thousands of ties hanging on the wall from all over the world. It is like the set of a Rooster Cogburn movie came here to die--but I can live with that... SERVICE: 2.5 stars. Adequate, but they get quite busy, and when they are busy it is difficult to get someone's attention. We did not have enough silverware settings on the table, and it is not an exaggeration to say it took 5 minutes and 3 people to get the appropriate amount to our table. It IS really fun to wear ties and have the ceremony of getting them cut off, and they are really good at that presentation--it is super fun for the kids. FOOD: 1.5 stars. Ugh. Steaks are without seasoning or flavor, overcooked. Side dishes such as mashed potatoes or veggies are about what you would expect if you went to visit your great grandmother at her skilled nursing facility and you made the tactical error of dining with her so she could show you off to all of her friends there--and you realize that as you start to eat your food it is designed to be eaten by people without teeth and who cannot tolerate any amount of spice or flavor. ALCOHOL: 1.5 stars. Basic cowboy bar. VALUE: 2 stars. Fairly cheap, but I would not eat here again unless it was for an event. OVERALL: Not a place that I would recommend, to EAT at, but if you have out-of-town guests that really want an Old West experience then maybe I would take them there once...

Let me start by saying we came here for Mother's Day dinner. We waited over an hour (no big deal because there's a million things to do while you wait- and again it's Mother's Day). When we finally get seated at one half of a 16 person table (they later seated another party right there at the same table like right next to us?) 6 of us ordered either cowgirl or cowboy steaks. My sister ordered the filet. My cowboy came out well done around the edges and rare in the middle. The other steaks came out nearly perfect. Salads are very plain but not bad. The ranch dressing is pretty good. The beans have improved since the last time we came here, which is a relief. They passed around free desserts for Mother's Day which was adorable and very nice. No tie cutting, or balloon lady to be seen and those were my favorite as a kid. Our waiter Al was awesome. He's the reason I feel like it really deserves 4-5 stars. I don't know how a place with ok/decent food gets these amazing waiters but it works, we have NEVER had a bad experience with the staff here and even on a super busy night they go out of their way to make you feel like you're the only table they have

Food awful. Bread is thick, white and cold. My daughter and her boyfriend ordered the steak and corn salad. Corn salad was the worst. After adding a bit of mayonnaise it tasted a little better. My daughter sent hers back. I ordered the hamburger. The meat tasted ok but the bun was white and stale. Would not recommend this place at all. There are other steak places in Tucson much better than this. Also told them it was my daughters birthday, after taking all the info waiter forgot to sing her Happy Birthday. When I brought it to his attention he sId he would do it but still never did. After waiting to pay and her Birthday wishes we finally got up and said here is your money and left disappointed. We will never go back. Walking around the area was fun and they do have a shooting gallery which we enjoyed.

This restaurant used to be one of my favorites here in Tucson. With it's old western ambiance, quaint shops, rides for kids including a train, and a surprisingly entertaining gun show for all ages, it was a one stop spot for any family night or date night. But since my last visit two years ago, New Year's Eve, I have to say that this place has truly begun to hang itself, much like their collection of ties hanging on their ceilings and walls. The prices have really sky rocketed, especially on the "infamous" cowboy and cowgirl steaks. Service was really lacking this time as well with several mixes up and miscommunications with the server. This place used to be full every time we've gone but I'm not surprised now to see that business has slowed down.

not impressed the service was great but the quality of the food was lacking i asked for a done steak came out burnt the chef seams to be unable to cook a steak properly i have had a well done steak juicy and tender with out burning it the price were to much for what we get.

We arrived there kind of late but there were lots of people still eating. They didnt even bother to ask us if we wanted seat and completely ignored us. It was very loud in there with kids running around the restaurant. Went to a different steakhouse.

Was there tonight with friends from out of town. What an embarrassment! Ordered a big cowboy and it was full of grisel and no flavor at all! They had a women cutting ties who exhibited no enthusiasm at all. This used to be a fun place to take visitors but not anymore. Overpriced and awful!

RC PRODUCTS!?!? Usually I walk out at that point, but we had a sick baby with us. Very small menu. Your basic steak you can make at home. Salad from a bag. A loaf of generic white bread with butter. Nothing special.

Great service and a really great steak.

Worth the visit if you are in the Tucson area. As much for the experience as for the food. Like stepping back into the old west - well kinda. If you have old ties laying around, put one on to expand the experience even more. They make quite a spectacle as they cut off the ties and give you a card to fill out to be hung with it on the walls. For the food, it's a steak place. Go with it. Avoid the bread.

On this trip (6/30/13), I decided to try the Grilled Salmon Fillet instead of one of their mesquite grilled steaks. It came with the traditional salad, home made bread and their all you can eat cowboy beans. Everything was delish as usual. There were 7 in our group and no one complained about any of their orders but I did have a friend call me the next day, he had the same order I had, and ask if I had gotten sick. He apparently had something that did not agree with him, but I don't think it was from Pinnacle Peak, I was not sick and had no problems - I asked him what he had earlier and he said he had some burrito's so I am more inclined to think they were the contributor to his illness!!! The traditional tie cutting ceremonies were in play -- they cut about 5 ties (no one in our group wore ties) -- always a fun routine, especially for the kids that Mom and Dad put a tie on! It was about a year ago since we were here, I noticed a change in the "Gun Fight" show, they have put an enclosed tall fence and gate around the entrance along with a "ticket" booth. Entrance is now $2.00 per person instead of the previous donations they once collected at the end of the show -- guess donations were down too low!! I passed on watching the show this time!

Tourist trap but a fun experience for the kids. Get them to wear a tie and take a picture when they hear a cowbell coming towards them.

The burger was tremendous. We were there for a friend's 40th birthday party and the staff handled our party of 30 or so pretty well. The prices are exceptionally high, though, so it's not a place we go to often.

Huge gimmick! Yeah they are located in a small town within a large town... But so what? I ordered the Big Cowboy and the order came with a big disgrace for such a large restaurant. The first steak came dry and overcooked. The outer rim of the steak was "well done," and the center of the steak was "medium well." I called the staff over and he said, "Sorry, that certainly doesn't look like a Medium Rare. I will take it back and have the kitchen re-do your order. It will be quick!" Yup, certainly was very quick. The kitchen probably raise the temp to something outrageously high to rush the order of another Big Cowboy. This time the steak came burnt in many places. First slice on the outer edge gave me a bloody cut. As I work toward the center, it was like a rare! Basically, the center was bleeding and had a cold icy texture to the meat. Called the waiter over and told him to cancel my order as I didn't have the time to wait for another order. Mess up twice and you shattered your own name. Definitely not a steakhouse I will visit again!

After a day in Tombstone, the five of us went to Pinnacle Peak for dinner. It was busy, so our wait was about 40 minutes. The salad and bread served with our meals was very ordinary. However, when it came to the Cowboy Steak and the rack of Ribs, the rating began to move up. The steak was cooked medium exactly as ordered and was outstanding. It is the best steak that I have had recently. My brother in law had the ribs and he thought that they were the best that he has ever eaten. Our waiter was excellent!

  • Sue K.

So touristy! I only went because it was a social mixer for a work related conference. I read all the other reviews before going and ordered the ribs...they were excellent; but the salad was a little overdressed for my tastes and the bread lived up to all the other review comments: cold, dry and generally inedible. I ordered a baked potato and was underwhelmed...and it was a bit undercooked. The beans never made to my end of the table so I cannot comment on those other than to say "where's the beans?" I still don't get the cutting of the guys ties thing...but if you wear a tie, guys, they'll probably cut it and hang it on the wall or the ceiling with the thousands of others. This place is in a little fake western town. Very cute and great for kids, in fact they were doing a little wild west show when I arrived, and the kids watching were having a great time. Very touristy. Did I mention that the ribs were excellent? Order a full rack, enjoy and don't bother with the sides. That's what the colleague sitting next to me did and he left his plate empty, full tummy, and happy.

The food is simple and well-cooked, very believable as cowboy fare. Steaks are perfect to order. Service is excellent. Drinks are ice cold, a necessity in Arizona. Is it perfect? No. Boundary-pushing? Absolutely not. But kitsch is the name of the game here, not imagination. An absolute must-eat in Tucson. Oh yeah, and wear a tie! It's no fun if you don't.

I have always been a fan of Pinnacle Peak. My husband and I even got married at the gazebo! However the last couple of times I have eaten at the restaurant it has not been very yummy. I always order a filet and it has been just awful! I order that because I have a hard time chewing steak and filets are suppose to be tender but theirs is more like beef jerky. On our most recent visit two days before Christmas the place was packed (understandable) we waited roughly 40 minutes (no big deal) to be sat. As soon as we get to our table we are informed they are out of cowboy steaks and ribs (no mention of that while we were waiting). So we order, I had the filet my husband the cowgirl steak. We get our salads and the lettuce is all brown (huge pet peeve of mine) so I tell the waiter (who seems so surprised that brown lettuce would be bad) he gets me another salad. The ranch however is amazing! So eventually we get our steaks. I ordered mine medium it comes out extra well done the outside was literally burnt. I probably could have gotten past this if the steak was tender but it was so tough! Remember people this is a filet...tenderness is key. Again the waiter seems surprised this is an issue! So 20 minutes later after my husband is done eating and I have already finished my potato I get a new steak which is cooked a little better but is another toughy. I ask for a box and my husband agrees to eat it the following day for lunch. The waiter never even questions if it was okay. Which after being in food service myself if a customer doesn't eat their food after a mess up you should probably do a follow up. Overall I am not really impressed with Pinnacle Peak.

  • L P.

The three star rating is because the atmosphere is great. The food, however, is not. If what you are looking for is a steak only, you'll likely leave happy. If you're looking for the side salad, bread, and other sides to be other than limp and about to go bad, triple thick Wonder bread, and otherwise unappetizing, you'll likely leave an unsatisfied diner. They are also the only steakhouse I have ever been in that has tiny baked potatoes. Our server was friendly, but didn't offer to take my salad off the tab after he agreed with me that it didn't look good. The setting, though, seemed like it would be fun on a Friday or Saturday night. Over all, mixed bag and we'll try someplace else next time.

If you're foodie (or think you are)...don't bother...you can grill better steaks at home and bake better bread from your oven (they were white toast and cold, I hate eating cold white bread at the restaurant ...are you kidding me?) The reason I went just because I have to try it once and once is enough.

a fun place to visit. We had a great waiter so the food arrive on time and well made. The food is just okay, I like the room and the old wood planks more than the food.

I have been going to Pinnacle Peak for years and I highly recommend it to anyone who has never been there. The steaks are always perfectly cooked. The service is great and the food is to die for. In my opinion, its the best steakhouse in Tucson.

  • Megan B.

This is by far the best steak house in Tucson. They have a show you can go to before or after you eat and always entertaining. They have a no tie policy and cut your tie off if u wear it. Most people bring in a tie just for the fun!! They have shops you can look at and it's just a great place to go. The food and service is exceptional.

  • Ray C.

People would say that their steak was the BEST! Even though Outback has offered better sides than this place! The prices are reasonable and it was so COOL to see at the decoration inside. I liked their bathroom and it was like the "WESTERN style"! And I learned that men do not allow to wear their ties going to this place or their ties will be cut off... Cowboys are ALLOWED ;-)

  • Antonio G.

Great steak at great price , just remember ... Don't you dare to show there wearing a tie. I always go for the big cowboy, in my case I like my steak medium, but here I go medium well, the cut is a little too big for the time they take to cook it and it turns out to be medium rare. But overall great food

This is a staple for us and a great place to take visitors. Unfortunately, the wait staff has high turnover and quality of service suffers depending on who you get. Steaks are great and the menu is simple. Main problem is that prices were recently raised calling into question the value. The Ribeye used to be $14 a few years ago, but now $20. Since they farm their own stock, this is not a bad price, but could be better. You pay extra for a baked potato. A decent margarita is $6. Overall - still a great place to take visitors and family, worth the experience, but attention to detail is important.

Pinnacle Peak is an experience as much as it is a meal. There are cowboys dressed in Old West garb walking around and shootin' it out for a rootin' tootin' good time for adult and child alike. The saloon has a full bar, but not a lot of different beers or sarsaparilla. Most beers are bottled, but they do have Blue Moon on tap. But it's really about the ambiance. A cold mug and a frosty brew will do ya until you are seated. Your server will have a name like "Sadie Hawkins" and will tell you when the chef manning the grill is top shelf. Today was a top shelf day. Come here for steak, because that is what they know. I order the filet mignon, medium rare with no char, and that, is what I get. The baked potatoes are simple, but well done. The pinto beans come family style and are deliciously savory. Forget your fork, the Texas style bread and butter are the best implement to sop up the beans with. Take the family, but men, remember to dress formally. Wear a tie. You won't regret it, and you'll become a part of Old West history. ;)

  • Nappy H.

It's touristy...there I said it. Now the real deal...its FUN, the cowboy shows are free and the actors come into the steak house and interact with the patrons. There's small shops in the town square and a mini train that circles the outside perimeter. As of this writing there is some expansion and additions being added so bear with them. The steaks are mesquite grilled and perfect, the cowboy beans are tasty and the old school saloon bar is awesome. Wear a tie and become part of a Tucson tradition, you'll have fun, you know, unless you're an @$$.

doc holiday was our waiter. he was very attentive, friendly and quick with service!! my husband grew up here in tucson and hadn't been to this place. we walked in and were both amazed at how big the place was. i ordered the large filet mignon for $15!! least expensive filet i've EVER had. and boy, was it delicious. it was mesquite grilled, so it had lots of flavor. if you're looking for a fun night out with the family, i'd head over to trail dust town and pinnacle peak!

  • Ilysse M.

This is a very mediocre steakhouse. If you get the burger, its fine. Nothing special, but cooked as ordered which is worth a star in my book. I agree with past reviews, the baked potatoes are tiny-- a poor value for the additional 2.99 charged for it. The draw of this place is only that it is in the tourist trap cowboy village called Trail Dust Town, and that if you wear a cheap tie, they will cut it off and add it to their collection on the walls. Good for young kids who don't know the difference between ordering a steak at somewhere like Fridays, Longhorn or Applebee's and ordering one at Ruth Cris, Shulas. However, the prices are still a little high for the value as far as the steak portion of the menu goes. The other items such as their pulled beef, chicken and burgers are all reasonably priced. The service was good, the food served hot, and cooked to order.

This was my first time to the Trail Dust Town/Pinnacle Peak. Trail Dust Town was surprisingly cute and well maintained. Pinnacle was busy and the atmosphere was fine for a touristy steakhouse. Liked the ties. We were seated right away. Lots of families. The service was good. I ordered the sliced beef dinner plate. The others I was with ordered the ribs. It came with a salad - basic iceberg. Mine had a HUGE glob of dressing. The bread was surely bagged, thick-cut white bread. The food came out quickly. The flavors were good. Too bad mine was all cold. Not lukewarm. Cold. The cutting of ties was cute and the kids around us were having a great time. I'd say if you're a family with kids, this is a good place. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend.

This was my second visit to Pinnacle Peak and I'm glad I came by again. One more star was gained lol. I had remembered the bread they served last time, it was cold and tasted like grocery bought, in a bag Texas cut toast. This time, I'm not sure if they toasted it but it sure didnt taste like something I can get at Fry's. Their ribs were delicious just like before. I shared a full rack with my sis and we both had leftovers to take home. I love their bbq sauce so I asked for more on the side. All their steaks are huge as well and served with a baked potatoes. My first visit I got Filet Mignon, it was good nothing outstanding. I dont remember getting a potato tho... Everyone gets a dinner/starter salad and a family size bowl of beans set in the middle of the table to share. This restaurant is set in a little amusement park called Trail Dust Town; great for young kids to explore the old west. Its a very cute place and they really keep up with maintenance. They have a little choo-choo-train that goes around the place. I'm not sure what the cost is, been I've been wanting to do it :) Let it be WARNED FOR MEN: Tucson is a very casual town. You can probably dine in the fanciest place with cargo pants and a polo for men or shorts and a nice blouse for ladies. If you plan on going to Pinnacle Peak for dinner don't wear a tie!!!! Just saying....

  • Ron D.

Okay, I may be sentimental, but my grandfather took my family here when I was a kid ( lets just say that was a long time ago ). The original building has long burned down and the new Western themed shops that surround the restaurant are great fun. This is a MUST stop on any trip to Tucson. My rating of 5 Starts is based on the Mesquite grilled Steaks that are about the only thing on the menu :) and the excellent service I've always received there. I doubt there is anything here for my Vegan friends, so if that's your thing .... Oh, and while it's not required by any stretch of the imagination, you should always wear a cheap tie.

Hokey jokey Claim Jumper wanna-be. I fully expected the servers to break out into a forced line dancing. Our young college aged server kept calling us all "Hon'" and saying "Awesome!" at everything we said. Menu basically has steaks, chicken, fish & salads. Big bread basket to start and root beer floats available. Don't wear a tie or they will cut it off and hang it on the wall. Or if you like the idea of getting your tie cut, stop by the toy store and buy one to wear there. Aside from being a tourist trap, there isn't much validity to this place. It's centrally located in Trail Dust Town, a small strip mall made to look antique and western, which is also a nice place to walk around and waste some time. Great for out-of-towners. Most everything in Trail Dust Town opens at dusk, so if you go before then, you could be walking around a deserted western themed courtyard looking at debate-ably antique covered wagons and store windows while western music is piped in over loudspeakers. Go to the Dakota Cafe' & Catering instead or far, far away to Daisy Mae's which is a total landmark steakery.

My chemist and I like to lift weights when we travel on business together so we crave meat after our workouts. We love big giant porterhouses cooked charred rare. This place makes a great porterhouse and we love any place that cooks a tasty steak that we can barely finish.

Best ribs! Only thing that had changed is that they charge for the entertainment now.

  • Chris E.

Typical American garbage. The prices seem reasonable enough until you see what you actually get. The portions are decent but the accompanying sides leave alot to be desired. You can count on canned generic beans (which the table has to share even though you all get a side with your entree), generic white bread (why can't restaurants learn to give you decent bread?), and you have to put up with a low-budget "western" themed restaurant where your waiters have names like Doc Holliday and Jesse James. Unless you have to entertain a little one with a themed dinner experience, do yourself a favor and go to a real restaurant. There are several in town that deserve your business. This dump deserves to be relegated to the fast-food category, nothing more.

On our last night of vacation in Tucson, I chose to take my family out to Pinnacle Peak. For those folks who know Tucson, the mere mention of this place will bring smiles and some smirks. It is a place where a plain, old-fashioned steak restaurant and Old West tourist kitsch collide in an orgy of manly cuisine and severed neck-ties. The restaurant resides on the east side of Tucson off of Tanque Verde Road, in the middle of a relatively small Old West homage called Trail Dust Town. Getting over here was quite the chore, since we came from the northwest part of town and were driving during rush-hour. Businesses, both real and facades, make up this old tourist spot. For example, you might find a portrait studio in one of the buildings, but you will also find a candy shop and a shooting gallery arcade, with several photo-op spots around the town. They also run some "shoot-outs" and similar shows out in the town-circle area, and there is a kiddy-train that travels through the entire grounds. But the focal point is the restaurant that looks like an old West saloon/hotel from the outside: Pinnacle Peak. I suspect the Peak has been around for 40+ years, and with good reason. They cater to the tourist with everything you would expect a mock-up Old West town to have, and they do it in a tongue-in-cheek kind of way. For example, the waiters all have names of famous Old West persons. Ours was Bat Masterson. You'll find Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday and their compatriots waiting on tables, too. One of the more obvious items patrons will notice (at least if you look up) are the array of half-cut neck-ties that adorn the ceiling of the restaurant. One of the Peak's claims to fame (and an in-joke for the locals taking visitors there) are these symbols to American stuffiness. They pride themselves on being a laid-back kind of place, and so if you have not already read the other reviews that have warned you, here is one more: do NOT wear a tie here unless you are looking to get rid of it. They do not make exceptions, and not everyone has left with a laugh about it. The Peak serves basic, good meat-and-potatoes kind of food, with the high point being their steaks. They are a sister restaurant to El Corral, and since we had already eaten at the Corral earlier in our stay, I decided not to go for the recommended bone-in ribeye this time. Their featured steaks are the cowboy (1.5 lbs of T-bone), the cowgirl (1 lb. T-bone) and some kind of super-duper Big Cowboy steak that I didn't even want to hear described. My wife went for their big filet mignon, I chose the cowgirl (because I draw the line at 1 lb. of pure beef in one sitting), and our 4-year-old daughter got the hot dog. A couple things of which you should be aware: every table gets thick Texas bread slices with butter and the dinner comes with a big bowl of baked beans. The dinners also typically come with a baked potato or similar item, and a salad. The steaks are cooked on a grill using mesquite wood, which imparts a nice subtle smoky flavor. Well, by now you must realize that our entire dining experience here was simply awesome. The food was excellent, as was the service. The steaks were cooked just right. Bat kept coming to check on us, and even provided us with a free bowl of cooked mushrooms to try with our steaks. I must also add that I am not a baked beans fan, but the baked beans here were wonderful. I wish I had more room to eat them. The salad, bread and other accoutrements were fine but nothing special. And how about a balloon sculptor who can twist colored balloons into a turtle! Try finding that on your next trip to Chucky Cheese. I don't know what more I can say other than this was a great place to cap off our stay in Tucson. My family enjoyed it and it brought back some good memories for me from when I lived here 20 years ago. Even if you are not into Old West kitsch, I think you'll still enjoy Pinnacle Peak.

I'm a little surprised that this is the most popular restaurant in Tucson. I guess it must the the fun ambiance with the theme-park atmosphere. But as far as the food goes, it's nothing all that great. We waited for about an hour for our table, so I had some high expectations for this place since there were so many people waiting. I figured I should try their signature steak, so I shared the "Big Cowboy" steak which I ordered medium rare. It was cooked appropriately, but there was not much flavor. Good thing they had A1 Steak Sauce at the table. I happen to really like A1 sauce, but if I want to have a steak that needs steak sauce, then I can make that at home without the long wait. I wasn't too impressed with the beans and bread either. The water tasted kinda funny too. Service was fine, and the ties on the wall were a fun touch.

Fun atmosphere, good service, but the food was not good!! Maybe I'm spoiled coming from Chicago, but I went for the Cowgirl (I guess it is a 1lb T-bone, mesquite grilled) as this seemed to be the signature steak. It was fairly awful! Tasteless really. I had to smother it wtih steak sauce. It was also rather grisley (sp?). What a waste of money that was!! The salad was on it's last legs and the dressing was clearly foodservice grade. The beans were watery and non-descript. My son seemed to enjoy his 'big' burger, but that's not saying much as he normally orders from the kids menu so just the fact that I let him order the 'big' burger was enough to make him happy. And they were willing to sub mashed potatoes for his salad so that was good. The bathrooms were dirty and in dire need of both repair (door didn't lock) and updating. The cutting off of the ties and hanging them on the wall is cute but not enough to bring me back or recommend it to friends. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant except maybe for dessert. the area is very cute and we went and had our pics taken at the old-time photo shop, very fun and great souvenir of our visit to Tucson!

Those beans.. bread and butter... a perfectly cooked steak?? Sign me up. I've been going there since I can remember. I have never had a bad steak and I always stop by the Chocolate store outside and get the best freaking truffles ever made. This is great memory of mine as a kid and now im hoping to create the memories with my kids. Stay for a gun fight! And do forget to wear your tie!

This is an update after our November 2011 review. The good, same as before, is out-of-townees get a kick out of the place. The waitress was fine. The bad: the food was the same as before or slightly poorer. The bread is balloon bread at its worst; the pitcher of sangria couldn't have had one shot of alcohol...no buzz what so ever. My filet was cold and dry with absolutely no presentation. How about at least a sprig of green? The beans over salted. Where are the single bowls of the years past? The spouse's beef was dry, the salsa poor. The visitors had the old-standby, standard steak, which were passable. The menu looked bigger than ever. Why has this place sold its soul? Go back to just steaks and do them right. May not bring back visitors again.

It is what it is and always has been. Very good steak for a good price, so-so sides, very kid friendly. Still gets my vote!

When it comes to steak houses in Tucson Pinnacle Peak is a corner stone. Now I'm not saying it ranks with Flemming's or any other big name big dollar steak house. It has its own charm and flavor that will grow on you until you start to crave it like no other. I recommend the cowgirl mid-rare, baked potato fully loaded with a side of the green salsa for the potato. My mouth is watering right now just thinking about it! Now remember this place is known for its mesquite fired steaks. Don't be a mongoloid and order the chicken or ribs (even though the ribs are pretty bad ass) just order the steak and enjoy!

Great steaks and ribs, ranch beans cowboy bread and dinner salad. Baked potatoe is ala carte if you want one. Rootbeer delivered in frozen mug. I had two glasses of the pinot not bad. To full to try the homaid cobbler. Maybe next time we will go back.

Nothing I or anyone else says about this place will make any difference, so I might as well have a bit of fun with it. If this was a review of a tourist trap, it would get 4, maybe 5 stars. But it isn't. This is a tourist trap which happens to serve beef produced by the cattle company that owns it. You don't come here because you think this is actually a good place to eat steaks. If you do, I genuinely feel sorry for you. You come here for the touristy stuff, or because kids like it (this was my particular excuse this time). I could come up with a whole laundry list of reasons why you shouldn't come here. So what the hell, I'll give you a list: o Haphazard management of the waiting list. My small group was the only one waiting to eat the night we were there (highly rare occurrence). We were told it would be a "short wait". 15 minutes later, 2 groups of the same size came out of nowhere and were seated before us. It would have been nice if they told us a few groups of the same size were already on the list. But they didn't have buzzing coasters and we did... Conspiracy theory? There is always some problem with people waiting here though. o The place is huge, but even if there are a million empty tables, they won't seat you right away. I expect this is because they are pinching pennies and not bringing in enough servers. o The menu does not list the sizes (weights) of the steaks. So you have no idea what you're getting. This is an insult to you, the customer. They expect you to pay for whatever they give you. Fortunately, the price matches what they serve, but why force me to ask? o The steaks are just chunks of beef. There's nothing particularly redeeming about them other than they are cooked over real fire. But that's the way they are meant to be cooked in the Wild West. Do yourself a favor and get steaks from your local butcher, spend $30 on a cheap grill and some wood, and be happy with yourself for doing a better job than this. o The salad served in a big dish to make it look bigger than it is, and it's half filled with what I call "iceberg stumps". The stuff they don't use at their other restaurants maybe? o The bread. The only positive. Barely. o The beans. The beans are drowning in water, and no bowls to serve them in. I'm supposed to put them on top of my steak maybe? Or in my used salad bowl? How do beans and bleu cheese taste? I'll have to try that next time I have $40 burning a hole in my pocket. I can't think of any more right now. Maybe next time.

Ok... I love the Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse in San Dimas,Ca. This place is just as good. Steaks are fabulous. Beer is ice cold and recommend to all. Great place to take the kids and out of town guest.

Perfect place to get a steak. Prices are great. Good family place. Ha, they cut off your tie if you wear one. Been there many times, very consistent. You steak lovers, stop there and tear it up.

Pinnacle Place has been on the must-do list for visiting foreigners since putt-putt golf found a kitsch niche in pop culture. In a nutshell, while the pork ribs are undoubtedly some of the best in town, the steakhouse itself could use a major facelift. That might sound like throwing the baby out with the bathwater considering PPeak is a western ghost-town mockup and as such a rickety motif might add to its authenticity, but the dust is quite real both outside and, sadly, inside; also, the wait staff could use a major jump start, unless they are actually channeling the dead. After a 20-minute wait during which time our mouths filled with dust blowing in from the poorly insulated walls (they seem to be cardboard facades like the ones at Old Tucson - probably the same manufacturer) we flagged down a server and begged for sustenance. The place caters to large groups, and couples tend to get lost in the shuffle. When the pork racks came, though, they were sweet, juicy, and bone-sloughing tender. The beans were bland and non-descript, the cocktails were nothing to rave about (one gets the feeling that if a customer orders anything other than iced tea or beer, the staff goes into a frenzy) but those ribs almost made up for it. Finally, tangy barbeque sauce that has been insinuated into the meat instead of splashed on as an afterthought. The pork flavor popped through and man, delicious. On the other hand, the restroom was freezing cold and frighteningly dirty. I want to chalk it up to frozen pipes, but there is no excuse for napkins on the floor, and the color of the pool of water there...maybe a tour bus full of rowdy toddlers had just left, and we did see a limo full of prom teens outside, but still...

First time there after numerous referrals from friends. Went on a Friday night 6:30 pm. Place was almost empty and waitstaff stood around watching every move. Quick service, and reasonable prices. Salad came out with old iceberg lettuce, and runny blue cheese dressing. Sent it back for another just the same. Bone in rib eye came out little past medium rare but close enough to eat. Wasn't thrilled with cut of meat. Long story short , not a good experience and will not be going back.

Ok,we always go here and have always loved it,are they under new mgt? Got our steak and sadly enough i was embarassed for the restaurant because that was all that was on the large plate was the meat.It use to come with vegetables but the guy said no one ate them..Really? The use to be large bowl of beans is not just a small bowl...everything is extra from the potatoe to a very very tiny side salsa for 1.00.Super dissapointed. We use to love going there, but i wont spend that kind of money.Friday night and no wait at 6:00 that outta tell you something.

I was invited out to this restaurant and I think I would have given it two and a half stars but I gave it three since our waitress was so prompt and kind. The place has the feel of an overcrowded honky tonk barn with cheap picnic table cloths where the staff must wear ranch apparel. (Snowbirds and foreign visitors would love this place.) The prices are a bit inflated. For example, we paid $8.00 dollars for six shrimp prawns and $2.50 for iced tea. The meat selection isn't too bad but be prepared for a shocking bill if you invite a party. I would want a calmer and less hokey environment if I'm paying good money for a steak or a shrimp cocktail. It was over crowded last night which means people will pay for the performance and food which consists of a tiny teacup sized lettuce salad, some sandwich white bread with margarine, and a "run of the mill" steak. Meh. We were seated at a tiny table facing a wooden wall. We had no view of the place from our seat nor room to move our chair. It felt like we were shoved in a corner like horses in a stall. No thanks. The food was OK but not fantastic. If you are all about the southwest, love lots of meat, need crazy loud country ambiance, and are willing to dish out the cash for it then stop by Pinnacle Peak.

So what's a guy supposed to do when his buddy's fiance is in town? You take her out for steak dinner in a restaurant themed after the wild west of course. After taking her to the upscale and date-like Pizzeria Vivace (awkward?) the night before, this sounded like a perfectly un-romantic place to go. Dinner at Pinnacle Peak was definitely a memorable one, it was casual enough to keep things platonic and also interesting enough to ensure a good time. The whole plaza is built to look like an old western town/fort which definitely got me into the cowboy mood. Before we even entered the restaurant, we were immediately greeted by gunshots. Pupils dilated, adrenaline pumping, muscles tensed, I was ready to do whatever it took to hide behind the human shield that was my friend's fiance. Luckily, it was just their nightly stunt show and I wouldn't have to call my buddy up with some bad news. After having my life flash before my eyes, we entered the restaurant and were seated immediately. The ambiance of the restaurant is definitely one of its finer points. It conveys a very casual and friendly atmosphere. In fact, it's so casual that if you are caught wearing a tie, it is cut from you and hung up on the wall as a warning to all other ties who may dare enter. With hundreds of cut ties hanging from the walls, you can be sure they follow through on their promises. I had their signature cowboy steak and my companion had their filet mignon. Overall the food was good. Not terrible, not great, but good. I felt that my steak was a bit on the dry side, but definitely still edible by my standards. My friend felt similar sentiments in regards to her filet. Along with their meals they also include a side of beans which were quite good. I'm not particular fond of beans, but my stomach enjoyed the flavors of the beans at dinner and then my nose enjoyed them a few hours later. Mission success. Me and my buddy's fiance were fed and had a good time feeding. Pinnacle Peak's food isn't great, but it is a different and unique experience I would recommend everyone to visit at least once if in Tucson. So I'm not saying that Pinnacle Peak isn't a great place to take a date for dinner, I'm just saying that gunfire doesn't always get me into the mood (sometimes it does). That's why it was such a great place to take my friend's fiance. We had a platonic dinner and to top off the un-romantic night, we ended up watching the highly sexually-charged movie: Black Swan. (awkward.)

We went to Pinnacle Peaks for my 9 y/o daughter's birthday. I told her about the no tie policy. If you wear a tie they will ring an alarm, cut it off and hang it on the wall. She thought this would be fun, we bought a tie, which she decorated. As my husband, daughters and I were being seated i told the hostess that we were celebrating my daughter's 9th birthday, she said we should let our server know, which we did. The birthday girl had a kids ribs and I had the full rack of ribs, they were tender, but I thought were too salty. My husband and older daughter had the slow roasted beef, one with gravy and one with bbq sauce, which they both enjoyed. The birthday girl had the kids ribs, and made a happy plate. Kids had 2 Root beers and we had 2 iced teas. Our bill was $70 and change. Throughout dinner my daughter waited with anticipation for the tie cutting, even laying her tie on the table for the waiter to see. Half way through, I took her to the restroom so my husband could remind the waiter about her birthday and tie. After finishing our dinner and sitting with dirty dishes for 10 minutes, we received the bill. I gave him my debit card thinking while he is running the card they will come and cut my daughters tie and hang it with the others and at least wish her happy birthday. Nope. Nothing. We left with a very disappointed 9 year old, who wished we had gone to The Melting Pot, where we ate the previous years.

Ok- first of all I've not been here in years, so I cannot honestly comment on a recent visit. But all the times (20-30 or more) than I've gone there, I've gotten one of the best steaks for the price I've ever eaten. The Big Cowboy, which is a 2 ! pound steak is cooked over a Mesquite wood fire, and to me it's a bargain at $ 26.99. Every dinner is served with salad and bread and cowboy beans which are beans in a jalapeno type sauce. This place isn't fancy-it's loud and fun and of course the thing about ties. Prices have gone up because prices have gone up everywhere, yet $ 26.99 for a 2 pound steak and fixins is very reasonable to me. Even the one pound Cowboy is reasonable at $21.99..... Ma Barker ALWAYS waited on me as she was one of the sweetest and kindest people there. It's set in a wild west "trail dust" town with shops and gazebos and just a nice place to walk around on a warm summer Tucson night.

The "cowboy" steak i ordered was amazing!!!! It was the most flavorful steak i've ever had!!! They also have a gunfight show outside of the restaurant nightly. It's a good place to visit if you're in Tucson.

Loved this place! I am not a steak person, so I ordered the chicken - very nicely seasoned. Great atmosphere - I don't agree that they are trying to be the Claim Jumper. This place is the original, and having been to the Claim Jumper a number of times, I can tell you CJ is monstrously huge with portions to match (doing their part to keep the obesity epidemic going strong), and the CJ restaurants look like they were put together out of a box. Only with that Trail Dust Town would get its act together. We only heard of the place because we were looking for a leather shop (which no longer exists).

Nice decor...cut ties were a novelty. Food was ok but nothing to write home about. Ordered the cowboy and while it was tasty and well seasoned it was overcooked and a little on the dry side. Bread was thick slices of white bread, salad was nondescript, and the beans uninspiring. Service was good but I felt a little bad for the waiters and waitresses as it seemed like they had to make the rounds singing happy birthday to table after table....they seemed to hate doing it. I know I hated listening to it. Overall, worth going once but you can get more food better for your dollar at a dozen other steakhouses in town.

It's a nice western steakhouse with corky decoration. It's a fun place for tourist. Service was friendly and fast. Food came out within minutes of ordering. Had the cow girl steak, which is smaller than the cow boy steak. Portion was plentiful. The steak came in its own plate, no garnish or anything. It's a bit tough for medium rare. There is a side plate with beans and soup. The bread was outstanding. It was warm, soft and thick and delicious with butter. The bread was 5 star and the rest of the meal was 3 star. For the reasonable price, location being in the center of Trail Dust Town, and décor, this is a good choice for tourist or anyone wants that western experience.

Pinnacle Peak is as good as it gets. Even after being to the top steak places in the US, this is my favorite. Definitely go for the Cowboy. You get a 20 oz T-Bone, bowl of ranch beans, salad, and texas toast style bread all for a staggering $18.99. How good a deal is that? Yes, this is a Tucson landmark. Yes, it is an Old West themed restaurant. Yes, there is a small Old West town outside and you can see a fake gun fight before eating. It is what it is. For anyone thinking this is trying to be the Claim Jumper, you are missing the boat. Claim Jumper is into mostly tasteless food that they try to make up for quantity. They are more interested in having a huge menu and selling their frozen dinners at the grocery store. There is no place ilke Pinnacle Peak. Simply put: great steak, cold beer, fun atmosphere, and a great price.

More on the 3 1/2 stars side. The whole Old West yee-ha feeling was there, unfortunately it was night time and unsure of how to feel. Before entering the venue, a lady was yelling to come watch the Stunt show. Wow, a stunt show. We checked the time and saw that there was a show at 730. We had an hour to eat. So, to be continued... I ordered the Cowboy and really enjoyed it. It wasn't too fatty, but the fat on it made the steak tasty. Although...uh oh...when the steak starts to cool off, the steak gets really blah. Should I have ate the steak really fast from writing what I just did, NEVER. You must savor your steak. And if it starts to go under, then you know that maybe it doesn't deserve the fourth star. On the upside, they make this big deal about customers wearing ties, so someone will shake a cowbell in one hand, and hold scissors in the other. She'll make her speech and start cutting the ties off. But I'm not trying to spoil the surprise. I just thought it was silly. Who wears ties!? Funny though how we sat next to Brett Favre's cut tie. AWESOME! Almost forgot about the stunt show. It was really tacky, yet entertaining. Dry humor, but if you know me, I laugh at almost anything...even wet humor. Har har har har har.

Steak and Ribs with that Western Flare you'd expect from the Ol' West! YaaaHoooo! This is THE PLACE for steak! or Ribs! The prices are unbelievably moderate for what you get, and the atmosphere---Well, let's put it like this----True Western Style To-A-Tee! There is a western town (Trail Dust Town), that surrounds the restaurant. There's a people carrying locomotive train to trip around the property, and there is an honest to goodness Western Stunt Show! Take the kids, the Grandparents, the whole Tribe! and have yourself a kickin' time and great western fare for a terrific price. You will not regret it in their worst day or yours! They can accommodate parties from one person, up to approximately 600 people! WoooHooo! There is the Silver Dollar Saloon serving beer or cocktails and NO TIES ALLOWED in the restaurant! The stunt shows are on Sunday through Thursday evenings 6:30 & 7:30, Fri-Sat @6:30, 7:30 & 8:30. (No Admission Charge) The Steak House is open: Mon-Thur 5pm to 9pm, Fri-Sat 4:30pm to 10pm, Sunday 4:30pm to 9pm. I would say "Bone That's Petite!" but there is nothing petite about this place, or what they serve. So Five Stars! Straight up!

If you're looking for some goofy place to take your kids so that they'll be entertained and exhausted when you get back home, then this is a good option. Pinnacle Peak is not only inside of Trail Dust Town, but they also have entertainers walking around most nights. The night I was there, it was a balloon guy. So, obviously, this is not one of those hoity-toity steak places, where a guy comes by to fold your napkin on your chair when you leave. This is a down-home sort of steak place. But those can still be just as good as the fancy spots. But this one isn't. In fact, the food is just awful. I mean, everything about it is just bad. You have choices between what you can get, as far as chicken, steak, fish, etc., but the steak, although bad, is still the best option, because the other stuff is just disgusting. The worst part of it is that it sucks but it's also not cheap. The "cowgirl" (the smaller steak) runs a little under $20 while the "cowboy" runs closer to $25. You'll probably go home with leftovers with the cowboy, but not much. Tucson steak, in general, sucks, but this is probably the worst one of the steak places in the city. The 2* is mainly for the kids thing. If I had kids, I would probably be at this place a few times per year, just for them. The atmosphere is well-done and the service is good. But all that really just doesn't make up for that awful, awful food.

Been coming here since I was a little girl. I love the food here. Texas toast with butter while waiting for the food...YUM. I love the shredded pork dinner and my fiance loves the steaks. Once though I did have to send my food back because it was cold. Never happened again though. We like walking around the little shops and going on the train ride. Western gun fight is always the same they really need to switch that up more. Chocolate strawberries at the chocolate depot are to die for!! Still after many years I love that they still cut off ties! Like looking at all the different ones. Servers are always friendly and I have never waiting to be seated.

Old West Theme Park? Pretty well done with a running train, stunt show, shooting arcade, old west tchotchke shop, etc. As a place to eat? All around pretty poor. The upside: a server that really committed to her "Dead-eye Daisy" persona and "camp beans" that were pretty tasty. But everything else was on the downside. The tourists really pack this place, so the waiting area was overflowing. We were seated a bit later than our reservation (or was it call-ahead?) would have suggested. The Cowboy steak was overdone, dry, and not very good overall. The salad was tired iceberg lettuce. The beans, while tasty, were served family style, which was a bit odd given that everything else was served individually. The dessert (a cobbler) was pretty ordinary. The server was friendly and really stuck to her guns about being in-character, even in the face of some mild (but good-natured) ribbing from my dining companions. But as a server, she was a bit slow and hard to flag down. If you like Old West kitsch, come walk around the place for a while. Then go somewhere else for dinner.

I hated coming here as a teenager with my family. I thought it was cheesy and stupid and I didn't care for the food either. Now that I'm an adult and enjoy spending time with my grandparents and younger relatives, I can see the appeal of this place. My grandparents love it and my younger cousins really like it as well. It's still kind of cheesy, and make sure you don't wear a tie (or do if you want it cut off), but it's a good family place.

Very Fun steak house in a fake old fashioned town. Food isn't that great and the prices are a little high, but you are not really going there for the best food in the world. I would def recommend going to it at least once if you are stopping by T town for a few days.

Don't waste your money going to Old Tucson Studios. Save your money and get a great steak at Pinnacle Peak. Then enjoy the free shoot-out old west show right outside. These guys put on a way better show with special effects for only a pass-the-hat donation afterward. For extra fun while in the restaurant, have your male guests wear a tie. (Pick them up at the 99 cent store.) The sherriff will make a big deal of cutting off the tie and putting it on the ceiling with all the others. My grandson loved it.

So. After the 'loaks told me about this place and I did my research I was quite surprised to find that it's very similar to the Trail Dust Steakhouse in Denver and Dallas. Look at the two's menus, they're IDENTICAL, all the way down to the "Cowboy and Cowgirl" steak names. My steak (The Cowgirl) was fantastic, and reminded me of days of growing up back in the Rockies, the Ranch on the salad was awesome too (not too thick and just a tad runny with that oh so awesome tart flavor). I didn't like though how bread was served un-toasted as the TrailDust serves theirs though. The "TrailDust Town" was cute, however it's very touristy.

We road-trip to Tucson area and dined in Pinnacle Peak in 2007. On the same trip we also dined in Pinnacle Peal Patio in Phoenix area. The difference between these two restaurants were HUGE !! The steaks and ribs from PPP/Phoenix were very tasty with nice smoky flavor and tenderness. But the steaks from PP/Tucson was really bland and without any smoky flavor at all. The ribs from PP/Tucson was a big disaster. It's very dry, and 50% of the meat was inedible. The waiter disappeared after the food was served and never came back to check on our food, otherwise we would return the ribs. The food is unacceptable as per any restaurant STD.

I was very disappointed in this Tucson "must try." My girlfriend and I were craving a steak by the time we walked up and smelled the lingering smoke. First the salad was medicore. No tomatoes and the lettuce was just at expiration date. The bread was not even toasted and took no thought to throw in a basket. The chips and salsa were decent. My steak was too rare and my gf's steak was too done. We sent them back. Mine came back good but my gf's was still too done. So she sent it back a second time. Finally, the third steak was cooked right. The beans tasted like they came straight from the can. My gf's crown and coke was a bit strong, but who complains about that? The decor and atmosphere was interesting, but it didn't make up for the food. I guess I'm just not into cowboy food. Or Pinnacle Peak.

Went here with my buddies way back. The place is super fun, especially the cut ties all over the walls. The steak is really good, nothing like a good rib-eye. It was huge, juicy and dripping. A tourist trap, but still fun place to check out once.

Pinnacle Peaks is a really cool restaurant. I believe it's owned by the same person as El Corral. They have a very similar feel between each other. I was confronted by a very rude man from UCLA who decided to gawk at my friend for wearing a USC sweatshirt. Very inappropriate in a restaurant setting. Anyhow, here the food is fun. They give you large portions and you kind of get the feeling of the old west in ya. Their meat is really fresh and I believe is local too. If you have never had a cowboy steak I highly recommend Pinnacle.

Used to go here all the time before the military stationed us abroad. Came back after 10 years to find that it had changed drastically and it was awful. They took so many choices OFF the menu that they used to have and the kids menu is terrible. My kids actually got a bag of Frito's w/ their meal. We won't go to Pinnacle Peak anymore. If you're looking for JUST A STEAK to eat and nothing else, then it's good but god help you if you want a decent side dish to go w/ it or something for your kids to enjoy.

I hadn't been here for a long time. I had the cowboy steak (14.95), didn't remember the food being much better than so-so here, but man, it was great! Slightly charred on the outside and pink/reddish in the middle... so good. Take people from out of town here and have them wear an old tie, they do the thing where they make a big deal out of it and cut it off.

While in Trail Dust Town, you need to come to this establishment as it has that steak and meat type food that goes with the theme of the old west. The tie bit is pretty fun although I don't particularly enjoy being the center of attention, it was fun to see others get their ties cut off. If in Tucson, try to make some time to visit this place one night.

It's fun, great family place, service was outstanding, steaks were about average cooked correctly which seems to be a hard thing to achieve at steak places these days, the cowboys was OK tough on the strip side, the filet side was tender and juicy. The cobbler was FANTASTIC, best thing on the menu. Beans were less than stellar, and the salad was worthless. Again, in agreement with other reviews, seems like this is more about the "place" than the food. I thought we might find both at Pinnacle Peak, but I am still looking for the great American steakhouse that won't cost me a months pay.

Pinnacle Peak (and surrounding Trail Dust Town) it a kitschy place that's fun for the flare - remember, it's about the experience, not the food. The cowboy flare on the inside is reminiscent of 80s-90s western style - red-checkered table cloths, pictures of cowboys on the wall, lots of wood paneling, fireplaces in some rooms, an open kitchen to watch them BBQ ... and then there are the ties hanging from the ceiling. Most meals are choice of meat + basic salad + cowboy beans + texas style bread (would be texas toast if it were actually toasted). The half chicken was excellent and the ribs were quite good as well. I took a pass on the beans and ate the iceberg lettuce salad just to add a little "health" to the meal. As Paul C mentioned, "remember: it's a nice restaurant, but not very nice; so wear a tie, but not a very nice tie." Outside the restaurant is a full town of cowboy flare from a magic shop, saloon, train ride for kids, panning for gold, general store and art shop to entertain the family before or after.

Sage advice: If this is your first time here, you must wear a tie. I've been coming here since I was in a high chair (I'm 41), and for years it was our weekly go-to... THIS USED TO BE AN EASY FIVE STARS. But the last few times we've eaten here I've had grizzly steak, so bad that every bite has a thick white tendon looking thing running through it. I always order the Big Cowboy - rare. And for whatever reason, last time my steak was returned twice and I ended up not eating because the rest of our group of 9 people were done by the time I got a steak that could be cut and chewed (even though it still had this tendon thing, only smaller and cuttable). GMO feed maybe? I just don't get it. And it's sad. It's really, really sad. I used to look forward to coming back home to Tucson purely for the food, this being one of the places we always make a point to visit. But I think that won't be happening anymore. My husband was so thoroughly unhappy with his food the last several times, he swears we're not returning again. I hope we do. I hope that something changes. But it's already happened a few times too many, so I'm not holding my breath. Sorry Pinnacle Peak, but you just lost 40+ year regular. Let me know if you decide to fix this. Because I will miss you. This is so sad.

This review is long overdue since Pinnacle Peak (and its surrounding Trail Dust Town) is one of the best experiences in Tucson, and is definitely a place to take your tourist friends and relatives. But it's all about the experience here; the food is only mediocre. The interior of the restaurant is build and decorated in the old-west style, and the food is cowboy fare. It comes with thick, bland slices of white bread. The salad is also completely tasteless. The cowboy beans are served in a bowl for the table and depending on what you order, you may not have a good place to serve them. Luckily, the meat is better. Pinnacle Peak's steaks are always perfect. It's also worth trying the pit beef, slow-cooked beef they advertise as "so tender you can cut it work a fork, but we give you a knife anyway." Which isn't actually true, it does require the knife. But it tastes great. There was a time when I thought Pinnacle Peak was the best place on the East side for a steak. Now, though, it's better better as a place to take your out of town guests. And remember: it's a nice restaurant, but not very nice; so wear a tie, but not a very nice tie.

Awesome service! My husband and I brought my parents here and they loved the ambiance. My mom couldn't get over how "cute" it was. We had some complications(2 of our steaks were overlooked, then undercooked) with our orders and our server (Cisco Kid) handled it very professionally. The manager came over and offered to get us something else but we had a fussy kiddo and didn't have time. He comp'ed our steaks and hooked my dad up with a brownie sundae dessert. Dad said he's take that over steak anyway. Overall, we would gladly come here again despite the steak fiasco.

Well, came from out of town to take my daughter out for her birthday. This was not a good choice. When you spend $23.00 for a steak, there should be no problems. Mine was the toughest premium steak I have ever had. Daughters was tough too. Ribs tough and dry. Would not go here again.

This place used to be a fun experience for the family that was worth the money. Our last few trips have been increasingly worse with reduced food quality and poorly trained staff. My last visit was the last straw and I don't think I will return. The staff didn't want us there, we had to continually remind them to bring basic items that came with our meal like forks, knives, drinks, and ketchup for kids meals. Finally our steaks came out ordered medium rare but the top 50% was burned to a crisp and the bottom 50% was raw as if it were thrown on the grill on one side and never turned. We sent everything back, the manager said something like, it's a common problem with that steak you should have gotten a different one. I emailed the gm and her response was basically "sorry". She didn't even ask us to give them another chance, I guess she knows she couldn't actually improve anything.

This place is friendly and warm. It's just very tacky menu wise the un toasted white bread and ice berg salad. For 17.99 I expected more with my steak. The steak itself was excellent. Hate the sides but love the meat and the tie filled atmosphere.

Ribs are good. Their signature t bones lack flavor and quality. Service was good.

This place is adorable. It really makes you feel like you're in an old Western town. The surrounding shops and props are great photo opportunities, and there are even rides for the little ones. Also, the restaurant's tie-cutting tradition is very endearing, especially when you see all the cut ties hanging from the ceiling with their corresponding labels. It's funny to see people come in with a tie and watch them get it cut. So the atmosphere gets a definite 5 stars. However, the food is seriously nothing special. It's not bad, but it's just not good either. My steak was pretty good, but the mashed potatoes and beans tasted like they could have come from a can or package. So food gets a neutral 3 star score. The service is always friendly and fast. And although the waiters claim their names are not made up, they totally are. All in all, this is a place you definitely have to come to, but don't expect great food.

LOVE trail dust town and Pinnacle Peak.. the steaks have gone up in price the last couple of years, but the food and service is still top notch. I love getting the ribs here and it's always so much fun to ask someone to wear a tie right before dinner to see the reaction when the server/host comes around! After dinner I love walking around and going into the stores or even taking the train around just for the fun of it!

When u hear the waiter says 1,2,3 and everyone shout 'Yee-Haw', u will understand the enjoyment I'm talking about. No matter where you come from, when u leave, u would know, there will be half of ur tie that will always be there! Awesome steak always!

As much as I wanted to like this place, I gotta say it was a bit disappointing. The Cowboy Steak was a bit tough without much flavor. Still a nice place to go one time, but probably not a second time.

They wear cowboy hats, Texas road house does that too. They cut off your tie if you are wearing one and put it on the wall. Very limited menu and a 3.50 share fee if you want to split dinner. The kids we were with didn't seem to like the food they got. From what I saw, I don't blame them because it looked like high school cafeteria food that you get if you made the lunch lady mad. The green chili appetizer is ok. Meat was a little dry, like it was microwaved. Potato skins are potato skins, nothing out standing pops out there. My dinner tasted fine. Waiting staff was friendly. If it wasn't for the dusty trail town attraction, I don't think this restaurant would have lasted this long.

Took friends there this past Friday night, and they loved the ambience, fun, ceilings, walls, food, shops nearby, and we had a great time. Highly recommended.

Wow. How do I review this one? While in town with another east-coaster (Macon) we decided to try what was described to us as "a really good steak house". We went and the adventure began. As we pulled up it became apparent that there was some sort of cowboy theme going on. We probably would have drove on if not for that amazing smell... The smell of red meat heaven... A dude ranch olfactory siren's call... As we walked in to a tiny old western town we crossed the tracks of a tiny train ride, passed a merri-go-round, and a western themed Ferris wheel. We'd bought the ticket and we were taking the ride... Hunter S. Thompson would have been proud. I mentioned the siren's call right? Cowboys in spurs greeted us and made sure we were aware of the 7 PM cowboy stunt show. "Only $2!" We were quickly seated. There were a large number of reasonably sized dining rooms allowing for a large number of patrons to have a normal restaurant experience in what is a massive building. The walls were covered in cut ties as they are not allowed. They sell them "in town" if you're the sort that wants to me confronted with scissors by your waitress. So how was my amusement park steak? I ordered the "cowboy steak - 20 oz t-bone". I worry that I risk all of my Yelp reputation, but it was in my top three steaks ever. A perfect t-bone beyond any I've ever had. My dining companion begrudgingly agreed. How was this possible?!?! Be warned your sides consist of sliced white bread and boiled (not baked) beans. They're meant to make you feel like you're eating on the trail after they rang the dinner bell. They're only a distraction. Ignore them and zero in on that steak! After dinner we wandered around a cute family friendly facsimile of an old western town. We came for dinner, but also got a show and a tale. Highly recommended - only detracted by its "unique" atmosphere and weak side dishes. Also check out the general store. The owners are friendly collector/picker sorts who'll tell you some fun stories if you have the time.

I have been coming here since I was a kid. This place is like a trip to the old wild west. The atmosphere is like a trip into a time machine. This place is great for a mesquite grilled steak. The price is anywhere from 20 to 30 bucks per plate. That is for steak. One doesn't come here for anything else. Although they do have chicken and fish but if you come here you gotta have steak. Overall I give it 4 outa 5 only because the price is a little high but for a special occasion its good. If you're in vacation or want to entertain out of town guests this is a great place to go. They do not have vegan options, for those of you vegans. Pretty much everything is gluten free. I've been coming here for years abd I will continue to return time and time again.

Everything you could say is wrong in a steak place. hokie, hokie, and hokie. If you grew up in central Florida in the 60's and 70's you remember SIX GUN TERRITORY! Imagine that and a steakhouse together. But the steaks are surprisingly really good..

Let me preface this by stating that the 2 stars is primarily for the food. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very unique and reminded me of a movie set. I loved the fact that everyone working there wore cowboy outfits and even had cowboy names...please sit in Blackjack Ketchum's section. He was very pleasant and proactively offered a discount on my meal when the portion came out smaller than normal. Now, the food. Ummmm, I was prepared to be wow'd and sadly I was not. The salad was good, but then, who can mess up salad? Well...actually...but that's neither here nor there. There were 3 of us dining and we shared the Green Chilies appetizer. While the app had very nice flavor and was actually pretty good, it was described slightly different from what we received. The meat was very tender, but the dish was mostly meat, not chilies. It is served with 2 large soft tortillas which you must tear in order to eat them with the dish. I ordered the salmon, which was ok, but it lacked salt and flavor. The salmon was smoked which gave it a nice texture and was cooked perfectly, but it could have used something. One of the ladies ordered the filet and while it was cooked correctly, for some odd reason it was tough. My baked potato was not quite cooked all the way through. So, overall, don't think the next time I'm in Tucson, this will be on my list of must haves. Sorry.

I LOVE THIS PLACE SO MUCH I WANT TO WRITE THIS ENTIRE REVIEW ON CAPS. But I won't, went in this week with my coworkers. We are in Tuscon for work and though we got there very late, they were still so friendly to us. I looove bbq but I knew I had to try the steaks! I had the bone-in ribeye steak and that was easily a mouthgasm holy cow that was great! Medium rare and just freaking right, so moist and smokey! My dish came with their garden salad and "French" dressing. Oui oui, it was delicious! They had ties all on the ceilings (because if you wear a tie in they will automatically cut it up and put it up on the ceiling.. It's so awesome). The western feel of the entire place is just so welcoming. I love the ambience, guest services and everything about here. I don't know when next, I'll ever be in Tuscon Arizona but for sure I will never forget Pinnacle Peak Steaks.

This will be a quick one and probably put into the "not posted" section. In a cowboy theme park, "best steakhouse in Tucson"; if true then poor Tucson. Unidentifiable cuts of beef, roasted corn salad out of a can, mushy overcooked baby backs, etc. Your kids will love it. If you've ever cooked a good steak on your grill you won't ! Service was excellent.

Just a cowboy themed tourist trap steakhouse that's unique to Tucson. Nothin' fancy and definitely not gourmet dining. It is what it is and they keep doin' it they way they always have been. However it's a fun environment and out of towners might enjoy the experience.

Steak was cooked perfectly and very tender, but filet didn't have much flavor. The beans they bring to your table are great, but you have to pay extra for other sides with your steak. You get texas toast brought to your table, it's not grilled or anything.
