Pains me to write a bad review, but it was not good. Try something else, anywhere else. We came for dinner, maybe try the buffet lunch, so you can try different things. We ordered our two favorite dishes, we eat Indian at least once a month for 20+ years. The two entrees we tried were sour tasting. We added sugar at the table. the naan bread was cold, and one piece for $2.95 - what a joke. The waitress - was the worst, like we were interrupting her day. There was an older gentleman, served the food - was trying to take care of things, it seams like a family run business, and it pains me to write a bad review - but the food, was not good.

The food is great, but every time I have been here the service is super slow. You will wait an hour after being seated to get your food. And more than once items ordered (bread, drinks) were never brought but showed up on our bill. Be aware that you pay only for what you received and prepare for a long mealtime.

Came in on a Tuesday. Vindaloo specials. All the food was wonderful! Spicy, flavorful yet subtle and not overwhelming. Everything was delicious. Had samosas, two vindaloo, lamb briyani, rice and naan breads. Great food across the board! The decor is nice, neat paintings in the dining room and washrooms. The washrooms are clean the service is great. I would recommend Delhi Palace for sure. Well priced. Check in and get 15% off!

I was disappointed with the food here. The chicken tikka masala was very bland and tasted like chicken with tomato soup. The service was good but not enough to overcome the food and bring me back.

The food is good but the entrees are way overpriced and the portions are tiny. You have to pay extra for everything (even the rice) and the service is just okay. Not worth it unless you have Groupon or other deal.

This has to be the best place for tandoori chicken dishes in Tucson. I've been coming here for about 15 years and while the ownership has changed hands a few times, the quality of their tandoori dishes has always remained great. I think they must have a genuine tandoor. Therefore, the chicken tikka masala and all other tandoor baked dishes are excellent.

This restaurant is the one I head to when I crave Indian food in Tucson. (Having lived in the Bay Area and being married to an Indian, I crave it often!) The food is mediocre and I wish the lunch buffet had more of a selection. The a la carte menu offers many good choices. One time, we did finish and were chatting. The woman serving us was basically running us out with her body language, if you get my drift. It wasn't even late or after closing time, but apparently she was in a hurry.

We went there with a Groupon, otherwise haven't been in years. The food was unremarkable at best. Service was good. Samosas were good, but I didn't find it as flavorful as my favorite Indian restaurant in town. Probably won't make the trip across town again anytime soon.

I was over on the east side of town with a friend and wanted to find a place for dinner. She is a vegetarian so I opened up my trusty Yelp app and let it do the work. We ended up picking New Delhi Palace because it was near had vegetarian options, and because I love Indian cuisine. I was also sold by the $10 for $20 deal they had available on Yelp. My experience here from the service to the food was great. The waiter was nice and attentive, while not being overbearing. They took the code for my Yelp deal right off my phone, which I liked and made my first experience using one of these online deals very simple. I think that their idea of sampling a different region of India on their specials menu every month is wonderful. It really gives them a chance to highlight a lot of subtle differences between dishes all over the enormous country that is India. It also made me very interested to come back next month and see what region they pick next. I ordered the lamb tikka masala, spicy, and it was quite tasty. Their garlic naan was also done very well, it wasn't over seasoned with garlic, and was also not too crispy which I don't like. My lamb was a little overcooked and tough, which can easily happen when you cook lamb in cubes, but the flavors of the sauce and spices was perfect. The big thing I did not like and do not like with any restaurant is the fact that I had to order rice separate from my main dish. For the price of my entree I expected it to come with sides. Overall a good dinner, and while this place is on the wrong side of town for me, if I'm ever in the neighborhood again I could see myself stopping by.

I'm a vegetarian Indian American visiting Tucson from LA for a licensing exam. Temper your expectations, and you won't be disappointed. I ordered a simple dinner of dal makhani (easy dish to make), medium spicy, with basmati rice and plain yogurt, all of which came out fine. I also had the samosa which was more like a Trader Joe's samosa than restaurant quality, but my expectations weren't high, so I wasn't disappointed. Service was welcoming, polite and expedient. Overall, I was happy to find a decent Indian restaurant near the exam location. Please note this review is oriented to visitors from LA. This restaurant could very well be the best Indian restaurant in Tucson; I just haven't been to any others in this area.

**********ADDENDUM*********** After my unfortunate experience with the surly employee and issues with the food delivery, I was contacted by the owner of New Delhi Palace who apologized profusely, let me know that the offending employee had been dealt with appropriately and that he wished for an opportunity to show me how my experience ought to have gone. I was very appreciative of his effort at contacting me and agreed. On the second attempt, everything was exactly as I would have normally expected. Both the food and service were quite good but I must say that I did especially the owner's effort to ensuring that his customer's experience was a positive one and for that I thank him.

New Delhi Palace was so so good. It was also completely empty. Weird for a Thursday at eight pm, I'd hope. We both had the Chicken Tikka Masala which was as good as I've had this side of the Atlantic. Naan was fresh and soft, and all of the chutneys were just right. I'm very surprised this place doesn't do more business, and I hope they stick around.

Not bad, but not the best indian in tucson by far. Unfortunately, it is the only indian place that I know of on the east side. I came here a few days ago for the lunch buffet and had I written the review immediately afterwards I might have given it 4 stars. Waiting a few days was a good call because I think I realize now that I was just excited to find an indian place sorta near where I live. The buffet looks really good. Several good choices to choose from, but not as many as one would find at sheri punjab, for example. The buffet includes iced tea, but be forewarned its the lipton premade crap. I was impressed to find one item in particular on the buffet line--the mango ice cream. "Interesting!" I thought...but that will have to wait for later... Got some palak, some mixed veggie something or other, some tandoori chicken, and some chicken curry with side of rice to get going. Despite being there only 15 minutes after opening, the rice was already dried out and not very good. It also had rather large pieces of bay leaf still in it, which is not very good eats if you ask me. Pass. The mixed veggies: pretty good. Ive had better, but not bad. The palak...i think some of the best ive had in tucson. Very tasty. Tandoori chicken: a bit dry, and though the flavor was good, it wasnt great. Nothing to write home about. The chicken curry I have to say looked so delicious...but WOW what a disappointment! There was literally almost NO flavor to this dish. I seriously dont know how they accomplished this feat of culinary disasters. I think if you were to boil chicken in water with no salt or anything, youd wind up with something more flavorful than this dish. The chicken in it was a mix of chunks of breast meat and some shredded chicken, it was overcooked and despite being submerged in sauce was actually quite dry. I don't recall any veggies in the dish, but it could have used some. Just odd... The Naan was very good, and the server brought it to the table at the start of the meal. Some people in past reviews have complained about it, but I dont know what they were talking about. It was good, solid naan. Im not a huge fan of the method of serving it though. I much prefer sheri punjab's approach of putting it ON the buffet so you can have as much as you want without having to ask the server over and over and feeling like a fattie :P The samosa's I think were the highlight of my meal. Much smaller than most buffets' versions, they were really quite delicious. The tamarind chutney for dipping was also very good. Definitely went back for seconds...and thirds...and I think fourths on these. So finally dessert time; I went for the gulab jamun and the mango ice cream. The gulab jamun was very good...some of the better Ive had around. The mango ice cream was...not ice cream. It was more like pudding, and it was remarkably sour. Really a huge let down. At the end of it all, the bill was about 10 bucks, which is not unreasonable, but is significantly higher priced than all the other indian buffets in town...its even more expensive than the buffet at saffron. Thats just unacceptable. Ive now eaten at (to the best of my knowledge) all the indian buffets in tucson, and this one ranks the lowest for me and has the highest price. I just can't justify that in any way. Id rather spend the money on gas and go to a better buffet than do that again. I dont want to make it sound like the food was bad--it wasnt--just completely not worth the price. Take that for what its worth, and maybe consider heading to sheri punjab or saffron instead.

This was hands down the worst Indian food I've ever had in my life. I've been underwhelmed by the Indian food in Tucson, but compared to this place, they are essentially 5-star. To be fair, we only had the samosas, the palak paneer, and the mushroom bajhee with naan and rice. The samosas had a very light and lovely crust, perhaps one of the best shells/crusts on a samosa I've ever had. Too bad all they were filled with were potatoes and peas with some very hot and uninteresting unflavorful spices. They should call them potato and pea samosas and not vegetable ones. The entrees looked and smelled good--we were really excited to try them. Unfortunately the spinach in the palak paneer tasted like it was from a can. The paneer itself was very tasty and might be better in other relishes that they put it in, but not this one. I can honestly say that I've had better palak paneer from the frozen food section at Trader Joe's. The mushroom dish looked promising, but the onion sauce was essentially flavorless broth. And again, as with the samosas, there were so many peas... too many for someone who even likes peas on their own. Even the steamed basmati rice was lumpy. I don't know how an Indian restaurant messes up basmati rice, but they did... and they charge for it! The only reasons that this place gets two stars instead of one are: the naan was very light and tasty and the service was excellent. I only wish that I could report that the food was better.

  • Lisa L.

Way overpriced. If you order chicken tikka masala it does not come with rice or naan. You must order separately. The lunch buffet is low quality - poor meat, etc. The masala is good, not the best I've had, however all of the prices are way too high. If the entrees were $10 with rice it would be worth it but an entree with rice and bread is about $18!! That's an expensive lunch.

    Solid choice for Indian Cuisine!

  • Vlad C.

thie place is hit or miss, i would agree the food is overpriced which makes me not visit too often. However i found the staff courtious and helpful, depending on what you order the quality varies, for instance anything with lamb is not lamb but mutton, one can tell by the strong sour taste, but this is tucson, so take it as you wouldnt get lamb here, just mutton, even when you buy from sprouts is still mutton. I like the vindaloo with the lamb as it hides the taste and is just burning hot. portions are very small, vindaloo is about 4oz portion. naan is okay, and the curry lamb-meatballs are great, also like the aloo palik could be better, but for a buffet thats what u can expect.

I've been enjoying this lunch buffet for years, but it seems that it's had the same spread forever. I'd like to see a bit of variety. The lamb meatballs are delicious, and the garlic naan is amazing (brought to my table, scalding hot). The Tandoori chicken is usually dry and over-cooked, though. The veggie dishes are somewhat bland. The space is comfy and well-lit, and the Indian music is a pleasant touch. I like the painted mountain scenes on the wall. The service is fine, but what do you expect for a lunch buffet? Serve yourself, and thank-you-for-the-water. The tab: about $9 (before tip) for an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet.

Meh. A mixed bag. I've eaten here a number of times, both off the menu and the buffet. I think the buffet depends on when you get there. Sometimes it seems fresh, other times dried out. There is always something I want on it. The food is not bad, but probably not the best in town. Service is also a mixed bag. On our last visit, it was AWFUL. The restaurant was practically empty and we still had to wait forever to get the menus, get our drinks, etc. After we had finished, we waited almost half an hour to get the check, and we could see our waitress just chatting with someone at hte bar the whole time. We had a coupon, and she did not apply it to the bill when that came, so we had to wait another 10 minutes while she fixed it. I would understand on a crowded night, but this was not one. It's still tasty, and one bad customer service experience makes me wary, but doesn't keep me away for good. I would still eat here if I was in this part of town, especially if I wanted something fast. ETA: Apparently the owners read this review and offered me a free buffet to make up for the bad experience. I went and claimed it: same bag. The buffet was sort of dried out. It tasted OK but didn't look that great. Essentially, if I wanted Indian food fast and happened to be in the vicinity, I would eat at New Delhi, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

This is by far the best Indian Food in town! I eat here regularly, and the food is always consistent! When I ask for spicy, they deliver! I recommend the chicken Tika masala!!

I pretty much love all Indian food, seriously the spices and the cream sauces so delicious. We came here the other night I was craving Indian food like no other. So we ended up here. I ordered an appetizer mixer which included veggie samosa, veggie pakora, and some other things. The samosa was okay but not fabulous and the veggie pakora was soggy. Which is always icky. So then I ordered the entrees for all of us to share chicken korma, and chicken tikka masala. The korma was much better spiced and the chicken tikka masala was okay. You do have to pay extra for rice. Anyways it was awful but it wasn't fabulous. Just kind of in-between. Probably won't go back again the prices were high if we are going to spend money I would rather go to Saffron.

Yes, Indian food buffets are a requirement for any college town, and New Delhi does not disappoint. I love both eating and cooking Indian food, and the spices at New Delhi gave me pause to wonder what part of India the owners are from. They work the sweet and savory especially well in the samosas. The tandoori chicken has a very pleasant smoky flavor that is really unique. The naan is also different, very light and chewy. It's pretty difficult not to overeat at this buffet, I had saag up to my eyeballs. All in all, a very happy surprise!

So bad. We ate here for lunch .he food was uninspired, the vegetable curries mushy, and the seasoning was bland. We won't be back.

Just to be clear: come here for the Tandoor, and the man who cooks with it. This is, indeed, Northern Indian food, with much of the menu revolving around the Tandoor oven, a cylindrical clay oven. The entrees listed, the bread; much of it comes out of the Tandoor. The marinades are good, and the charcoal crisp on the roasted meats is pleasant. The meat was roasted to perfection in every trip we have taken here; moist and flavorful. It's also one of the few places in a 50 mile radius I'll recommend the shrimp. No grainy or fishy odor or taste: it was delightful. Just to avoid confusion: much of this type of food is marinades complimenting natural flavor, and this place does not pack on the spices on tandoori dishes. Compared to much Indian food served in Tucson, it is MILD, especially compared to southern Indian food. I enjoy both regions, personally. The bread is excellent, and a worthwhile compliment to any dish. The stews: we had the Tikka Masala, which is roasted chunks of chicken (Tikka) in a thick stew sauce (Masala). It was quite good, but mildly flavored compared to others I've had. The rice, which must be ordered separately, is a large dish affair: an almost curry based tossed dish with vegetables and a mildly spicy sauce. So, the food is good, focusing on mild or natural flavors, and will seem bland if you like very powerful southern Indian food. With the exception of the rice, much of it is not spicy hot at all. The rice is very mild to a chili head like myself, but my wife found it peppery hot. The ambiance is shy of formal dining. Woven chairs complement the aesthetic, The wall paintings are, in my opinion, a clash, and seem out of place. Our service in 5 visits has been mixed. Our first time, we had a gentleman server who seemed inappropriately aloof; almost rude. I believe he's the same one mentioned in other reviews. When taking our order, he recommended we get a bread, and continued to drone that the Garlic Naan was the most popular. We seemed to surprise him by instead ordering a flat wheat bread (Roti) which better complimented our meal. I must admit he thawed quite a bit at this (though I'm not sure why) and was pleasant during the rest of our stay. Total, we have had different servers for our 5 visits, who have been pleasant, but not as attentive as I would like. There have 3 times been mistakes made in our orders: one was caught by the kitchen who came out to double check first (thanks to the chefs!), and the other two issues were corrected promptly with apologies after we noticed the error. I give 3 stars because the service seems to depend on who you get (and the best lady admits she is temp, here helping family). The service does indeed improve if they recognize you from previous good encounters, something that in my opinion is not entirely professional. The food is well prepared, but mild: I enjoyed it for what it is. The food has been absolutely consistent as well. The prices are high for the quantity of food. Their tandoor has never disappointed me: I've had perfectly roasted meats every time. I have never sampled the lunch buffet.

disappointing. They have a very nice staff, and their mango shakes are top notch, but their food is just ok. If you are just trying Indian for the first time, this isn't a bad place to start, but if you are used to good Indian food, this place will disappoint you.

  • Julia R.

I'm a sucker for a good Indian buffet, especially when I can stuff myself with rice, sauce, and naan, yum! Unfortunately, my trip to the buffet today was pretty disappointing. The selection was about average: vegetable curry (mostly potatoes), a mushroom dish, lentils, chicken curry (on the bone), tandoori chicken, and lamb meatballs, plus rice, bread, salad, samosa, and dessert. I tried a little bit of everything, and wasn't impressed enough to try seconds of anything. I like my Indian food very spicy, and I know that buffets usually tend to go "mild" or "medium" at best, but the sauces were all quite bland and hard to distinguish from one another. The meatballs had an odd texture, and even after pulling meat off the bones in the chicken curry, I kept ending up with pieces of gristle. The bread was on the thin side, not nearly as thick and soft as I've had elsewhere. On the plus side, the samosas were excellent, and the service was very good; we were checked on often to see if we needed more bread or another pitcher of water. Their drink and dessert menu looked very good; if I end up coming back for dinner, I will definitely have to try something. Overall, I wasn't impressed with their lunch buffet, and I'm not sure if I'll be back to try them for dinner; if, as another reviewer noted, they charge for rice in addition to entrees, I'll probably just stick to making my own curry at home unless I'm off in another part of town.

The food was all delicious, service was great, and I left feeling happy and full. Based on the Yelp reviews, I went with relatively low expectations...but was blown away by the attentiveness of the staff and the quality of the meal. Support this little place, it's great.

My family has enjoyed New Delhi Palace for decades. Our usual order is Chicken Tikka (sizzling, fresh, delicious chicken with grilled onions), either Vegetable Korma or Subji Aam Mughlai (Vegetables in a succulent mango sauce), Nimmakaya Annam ("lemon rice"), Naan (freshly cooked bread, not unlike a good sopapilla), with mango chutney and Raita (a cooling sauce of yogurt and cucumbers). We aren't sure how they do it... but every time we go (nearly weekly), the food is better than the last time. Highly recommended. Service is friendly, respectful to our family elder, and formal enough to reflect a deep respect for their food. We have taken friends and family who never had Indian food and they LOVED IT.

Seriously, I've been eating here for years, and the food is always delicious. The service is usually pretty good, but the food never disappoints. The prices have gone up over the years, but they haven't gone too high. Fairly affordable and will definitely satisfy your craving for delicious Indian!

To be fair, I have gone to this restaurant for the past decade and a half and been content with it. The food is usually pretty good. However, we will not be going back. Last year we had some relatives visiting for thanksgiving, and we went here. That night, everyone who ate the lamb got the poops bad and started barfing. That was the only food in common that those who got food poisoning had eaten. Those of us who ate veggie had no problems. It took several days before everyone was better, and by that point my uncle had to go back home after spending his vacation on "the john."

My girlfriend and I ate here in July 2009. We were craving some Indian food, but the usual places in Tucson just didn't seem to catch our fancy. We got onto yelp and found that people had given generally positive reviews of New Delhi Palace, so we made the trek from central Tucson out to Kolb and Broadway to try it out. It was a Sunday night so there weren't many folks there (3 parties total in our time there besides our own) and only one hostess who was busy with the fun (they have takeout). We were sitted by a hostess who looked like she was going off duty. The place is well decorated compared to many of the Indian Cuisine places in Tucson and is very relaxing. The menu is varied and features a few different styles of cooking, but we chose to stick with our favorites for that visit and for comparison purposes. We ordered the veggie samosas for an appetizer, chicken curry, lamb vindaloo, some rice and naan. The veggie somosas came out very promptly along with a couple of truly flavorful and spicy chutneys. The samosas themselves were tasty, but the potato stuffing seemed a little underdone. I'm not picky, because they were still very good. The main course arrived shortly after that, and I can see where other reviewers felt a little rushed--the time between appetizer arriving and main course arriving was about enough for me to finish my samosa. Like most Indian places, we were served in a more family style with each of the entrees in their own bowls so we could share. The lamb vindaloo was my favorite from Tucson. Most places serve it mild (even if you ask for spicy) and with a sweet background flavor that I haven't had at the best Indian restaurants in other places. This was not the case for New Delhi. It came out very spicy, served hot, with a gravy tomato/onion base--fantastic, a real treat. The chicken curry also came out very flavorful with a slight bite to it. Though my taste buds were already pretty numb from eating a good portion of the vindaloo. The rice was standard fair, and the naan was a treat. The naan was particularly thin, but still soft and fluffy--for Tucson dwellers think a softer tortilla and your onto it. Other reviews have said that this place is cheap, but compared to Tucson Indian cuisine prices, I'd say it's average. We spent about $30.00 which is what we normally spend having a night out at an Indian place. Both the girl and I were really impressed with Palace, and I'm sure that we'll be back. I would say that there are very different moods, but Palace is right up there with Ghandi's as far as Indian cuisine in Tucson. Definitely compares to some of the better Indian I've had in other parts of the country (SanFran, Midwest, Boston).

Went here for lunch. Buffet Was small( I've been to smaller) but food was pretty tasty. Service was also very good. All in all I'd be back often if I lived in Tucson.

Went here for dinner the other night. Was really suprised by how good the food was. It was definately slightly lighter than other indian restaurants I've been too before. The naan was thinner and lighter. The chicken tikki masala wasn't too rich, it had a little less cream. The flavors were delicious. We had vegetable pakoras that were fried to seeming perfection. I haven't tried their buffet here but their food was great. The service was a little slow at times. It's a family owned, local place. It seems to take them a while to get everything going for the customer. Still, this is a minor deterrant given the food. I will be returning soon for a lunch buffet.

Today was my first and LAST visit to Cuisine of India. I went with a friend to try the lunch buffet today. The service was terrible. No one offered us a drink; my friend had to ask for it. The waiters were busy getting drinks for other tables, but completely ignored us. Thankfully, there was a pitcher of water on the table for us to help ourselves to. My friend finally had to ask for an iced tea. After serving myself from the lunch buffet and taking a few bites, I noticed that the bite I was about to take had a vegetable sticker on it. Mmm...extra fiber. I got up to get some dessert and my friend mentioned to my server that there was a sticker in my food. The server replied, "I'm sorry about that, you won't be charged." I thought, awesome. At least we won't be charged for the extra fiber. My friend goes to check out, the lady apologizes for the sticker again and then charges my friend full price for both meals! WTF? Needless to say, the service is enough to make me never want to go there again!

I thought this place wasn't going to be good after the last review but I was suprised. The service was excellent. The food, though not the best, was much bettr than I'd thought it would be. It's not as heavy as other Indian places. I has the shrimp kharai. Ask for their chili paste. Holy! That stuff is awesome (but be careful or your now runny nose can leak all over your food). The chili paste is whatade the food from okay to great

I was lucky enough to have New Delhi Palace in my neighborhood when I lived in Tucson and it was such a great place to pop into for lunch or to catch dinner with my husband for date night. I have frequented this restaurant many, many times and my experience has been quite consistent. The serving staff was accommodating, attentive, and professional. Another atmospheric aspect of this restaurant I enjoy is its draw on a diverse crowd of people. I was amused when coming in for lunches to see a great variety of people: young families with children, older couples meeting with their friends, college and high school aged kids, and people of all races. While Indian restaurants can have hit-or-miss records with lunch buffets, New Delhi Palace was consistently good and fresh. I am vegetarian and found that there were always several entree choices (usually 4) available as well as naan, vegetable samosas, and gulab jamun and rice pudding for dessert. It is quite a deal for so much food and for the variety. For dinner, NDP has a large selection of entrees, including their interpretations of Northern Indian cuisine typically seen in American Indian restaurants. In addition to this, they specialize in tandoor dishes and a good variety of other dishes not typically seen in American Indian restaurants. They offer a good amount of vegetarian fare, which is fresh, hearty, and served in good portion.

Ate here after not having been in probably a year. A Groupon brought us back. Have to say the flavor has gone downhill. I want spices, variety of flavors, dynamic stuff when it comes to Indian food. We ordered Chicken Tika Masala, Chicken Biryani, and Chicken Tandoor. All were "ehh". Nothing to bring me back. This visit left much to be desided. Also the service was so-so. The woman seemed new or not well trained.

New Delhi Palace has been a favorite of mine for years. Even though I no longer live in Tucson, when I'm back in town New Delhi Palace is high on my list of places to dine. The service is always very solicitous without having someone hover over the table. Though I am very familiar with the menu and Indian food, I have dined at this restaurant with people who aren't. The staff is very willing to assist with the menu and choices. I always have to order the Chicken Korma. It has large pieces of oh-so-tender chicken and the savory sauce is to die for. I also love their Palak Paneer even though normally I would never eat spinach. My boyfriend ordered the Fraizee Lamb which had great flavor, though the meat was not as tender as I would have liked. Still the fabulous sauces they create at New Delhi Palace make all the difference. The naan is tender but still has that little punch of charred crispiness that makes it so good. I can't get enough of their wonderful iced tea either. All in all I was so glad to be back in Tucson and having yet another great meal at this fine establishment..

I've had better. I ordered the Palak Paneer and they REALLY skimped on the goat cheese. There were only about 4 cubes in the entire dish and the flavor was bland. I've had better out of a Trader Joe's microwaveable dinner! The service was horrible. The waiters were unkempt and sloppy and had very poor manners. They were also terribly slow. We waited nearly half an hour to get out check after asking for it! The vegetable Pakoras were pretty good, but that was the only good experience of the whole night.

went for dinner, we usually do indian food lunch buffets, i like that variety. portions small giving poor price to value. we ordered different things but too little to really share. disappointing. food was ok, just ok, not spicy or exotic or even interesting. i think i'll stick to lunch buffets at other places. don't plan on returning.

I have eaten here twice now. Each time I have had exceptional service. Friendly, fast, and accomidating. Fresh and delicious food in a very clean environment. I even bring my 10 month old son and they have high chairs and are very child friendly. I love this place and reccomend it to everyone. It is so good. I always get the buffet and I am vegetarian and leave stuffed. The waiters never let my drink get half empty!

This used to be my favorite Indian place in Tucson. It is still pretty good, but be warned...although they 'close' at 10, the restaurant closes at 9:15, and after that they only do take out and only with a more limited menu of what is not cooked on the tandoor. So, if you come for a nice dinner at 9:21 (as I did), it will be too late for you. I certainly understand the employees wanting to close early and get out of there, but it seems like if that is the case maybe the restaurant should close earlier too. It is kind of a waste of time to drive out there and not be able to enjoy the wonderful food.

Absolute perfection. Indian does not get much better than this!!! Serivce ***** Food***** Price CHEAP! for Indian. FAST! FRIENDLY! Couldn't ask for more really...full bar...BIG selection of beers served with ICE cold mug...decidedly NOT oily rice and Samosa's.

How ironic that the only passable Indian restaurant in Tucson hasn't even been reviewed before. Delhi Palace is nothing special, I assure you. But it can at least provide you with the basics without disgusting, horrifying, or angering you. I've found the service to be above average over time. The chicken tikka masala is my normal order, and it is decent.

If you're looking for reviews for this place, it's also under New Deli Palace. I believe they are now going by this title. Anyway, the service here is a @#$%shoot. I actually stopped going for a few years because of a bad service experience. Returned and the service was better for awhile. Went back again and it was terrible. No one checking in. The dining room was empty. There was an annoying fly that would not leave us alone. The food is very small portions and now they raised the prices. I was embarrassed because I recommended the place. I won't make that mistake again. I will say the Indian food is pretty decent. If you want good Indian food and service, check out Ghandi's.

Man O man. Tucson is making it really difficult for me to get my fill of tasty ethnic food. The meat was gummy/chewy? Why! The naan was naan that good! Save the money and get some curry and naan at trader joe's, go home and do it yourself! Just not good!

A 5-star indian. Amazing inidian food. I had the lamb madras with rice and garlic nan. The mango kulfi is a must for dessert too. Will definitely return when in Tucson. Not tried the lunch buffet (yet) but definitely a good choice for dinner if you like Indian food.

Good and reasonably priced lunch buffet, but I wish they would change up the selection more often so I could try more things from their menu. The owner and his wife are very nice and always remember us. I've always been a happy and full customer when I leave New Delhi Palace.

These guys really pissed me off last night. I was ordering takeout during a time when there was a glut of staff and a dearth of customers. The food still took close to an hour, the staff was surly and lazy - most were hanging around, texting/talking on the phone/shooting the breeze. Service to the people who were eating looked god awful. They also refused to honor a perfectly good coupon that was both legit and not expired. The staff was rude and just plain nasty. It turns out that the owner was out of town, so it was a "dog's away, cats will play" type of situation. That goodness the food was still superlative, or I probably would have bailed for good.

Place was great. I had the Karhai vegetables dish (which I've never had before) and it was good. Really friendly service, good mango lassi. The naan was average not great, but good. I would definitely eat here again and recommend it to others.

I've eaten at only one other Indian restaurant (also in Tucson) and think this one is just about as good. They had many servers, compared to the other one, and the food--my daughter and I both ordered the chicken tikka masala--was fine. I ordered a salad as well, and that was my only disappointment: large slices of lettuce, carrot, and tomato piled on a plate. I intend to go back, as it's closer to my house than others and can easily satisfy my craving for Indian cuisine.

The New Delhi Palace, Cuisine of India, is my favorite Indian restaurant in town. It is located in a strip mall on Broadway between a Walgreen's and a boot store. The interior walls are painted with scenes from India. The service is generally friendly and helpful; they are happy to make suggestions and often recommend the specials which highlight the cuisines of various regions of India. Weekdays, there is a lunch buffet. On Tuesdays, most of the menu items are discounted which can lead to a crowded restaurant and a long wait for food. To start, I recommend samosas which are flaky pastries filled with either vegetables or lamb. The entrees (which are served family style in pots or on platters) include chicken, shrimp or lamb cooked in a Tandoori oven. These come sizzling to the table. You can, by the way, order everything "mild, medium or hot". Also, coming from the oven are the flat breads which you must not miss. Then, there are curries and kormas. These can be ordered with the protein of your choice or with a vegetable mix. There are many satisfying vegetarian entrees and, also, flavorful rice dishes. Finally, there are interesting drinks for a hot summer's day. Enjoy!

Stumbled upon this place after purchasing a Groupon. Was very quiet on a weekday evening. The service was disappointing. Perhaps I'm just being picky, but it would be nice to have at least the first glass of water filled instead of just setting down a pitcher of water and some empty cups. The palak paneer and chicken korma dishes were okay and slightly on the cold side. The paneer was cut in the tiniest of cubes. Should also note that the entrees do not come with rice or naan -- either or both must be ordered separately. To me, it seems analogous to a burger joint charging separately for the bun. But maybe that's just me. The mango lassi was pretty good, but really the only thing that I found enjoyable.

Food was AWSOME!!!!! First time eating Indian food. Was a little scared. Didn't know what to expect but boy I was surprised. Didn't expect food to be this good. To be honest I grew up in Tucson. Of course Mexican food has always been my favorite. However, I think after eating Indian food I found a new love. Don't know if all Indian restaurants serve food as good as this place but if not, let's just say I will be back. Many times

Came here on a Groupon: 3-course meal for two.... but they cheated us. The Groupon says it is good for $52 (purchase price was $26) and comes with an appetizer; 2 entrees; 2 drinks; and a rice dish. When you look at the menu, there is a clear, separate section entitled "Rice Dishes." Beneath that heading are about a half-dozen different kinds (Biryani, Vindaloo, etc.) with your choice of protien (chicken, lamb, shrimp). These run about $10-12. At the end of the list are the two plain rices, including basmati, and these two options run $2-3. When we tried to order one of the meat-rice dishes, the waiter said that only the $2-3 side of rice qualifies under the Groupon. We've used this exact same Groupon before (when the elderly couple basically ran the restaurant for years, prior to this summer) and they always honored all of the "rice dishes." Here's the proof that this isn't right. Even if you order the most expensive 2 entrees and drinks you only hit $40 total. In other words, there is NO way to reach the stated value of $52. Our average/typical assortment of appetizer, drink and entree resulted in a total bill of $33... a $4 saving over the Groupon. The (new) staff have essentially devalued the purchase price of the groupon, so be warned. As for our food, we had chicken korma and lamb pashanda. While the serving sizes are modest/average, both dishes were quite good. As so many others have noted, however, it is odd and disappointing that these sauce-heavy dishes do not come with any kind of rice (in all of my Indian-loving restaurant treks I have never seen this). So, while these entrees hover around $10-12, you must also buy your rice on top of that, effectively making each entree $13-15 apiece (hence the $$ rating). The mango lassis were our drink of choice... tangy, thick and pretty high on the sugar content, but delicious. Aside from the sudden depreciation of our Groupon, the only other disappointing thing were the three little bowls of sauces that are delivered with your appetizers/entrees. Again, when the older couple seemed to run the floor, the first glass of water was poured before the pitcher was left at the table (I do like having the pitcher at my own disposal though). In addition, the tray with the three sauces was spic-n-span clean. What comes out instead now are three little sauce pans (same as before) but these have dried crud around the edges and sometimes spilling over the edge... as if this had been used by other patrons and simply recycled (this was the case both times that we went in July/August). It is so gross. But it portends of a new management that is bent on cost-cutting, even to the detriment of their customers and their own integrity as a restaurant. Other than these critical defficiencies, things were quite decent: Ample parking; attentive wait staff; relatively short wait-times for appetizer and entrees; and a simple-but-comfortable interior. In sum, the food in this competitive east/far-east genre, actually gets 3-1/2 stars, but the suspect business practices are alarming and result in demerits down to 2-stars over all... sorry.

We'd been here for the lunch buffet before and I was less than blown away then. This time we came with a groupon, which they had no trouble honoring. We decided to order off the menu this time. The vegetable samosas we ordered were good. The three chutneys that were served with them were all very different. I couldn't put my finger on the flavor of the most liquidy one (not so much a chutney but a sauce) until I read Christy F.'s review. The mint chutney, though, hit me over the head. Not in a spicy sense, but the flavors were very apparent. The onion/tomato chutney was my favorite - perfectly flavored and spicy. We probably bastardized it by ordering the Chicken Tikka Masala extra spicy, but I have had better Tikka Masala. I commented to my buddy that maybe they make it spicy to begin with and cool that down by adding cream. This lacked the pink color and creaminess of others I've had. I think the flavor of the dish suffered from that. The Chicken Vindaloo we ordered medium (I'm not a wimp but this was lunch and I didn't want to suffer the rest of the day) and was flavorful and spicy, but I have nothing else to compare it to, so I'll leave it at that. Having to pay extra for the basmati rice ($3.95) and garlic naan ($2.50) we ordered annoyed me just a little, especially because the garlic naan was $.25 more than the regular naan and I tasted no garlic. Charging extra for these things may be standard in Indian cuisine, but I can still whine about it. In my not-so-expert-but-I-know-what-I-like opinion, the food here is middle of the road, so I'd say the three star overall rating is about right.

Atmosphere here is a bit strange, because there was a fair amount of people in the restaurant coming and going, but because the dining area is large, it seemed like a tumbleweed was going to pass by any minute. Service was borderline obnoxious; my meal/conversation was interrupted multiple times by the servers (we had more than one) just to ask if everything is OK. It made me think that maybe majority of the customers have complaints if they feel the need to continuously probe me. To be fair, many restaurants are guilty of this, and this is usually due to poor training. Some etiquette flaws -- server asked if I was still "working" on my meal, as if there was a rush to get us out, although only 20% of the dining floor was occupied (at best). The meals are almost family style, which is a nice touch, and makes it easy to share. The downside is that it isn't clear that the orders don't come with "carbs" -- rice or naan is ordered separately. The food, however, was much better than the service. Lots of spice and flavor, just as Indian food should be. It didn't taste as good as some Punjabi homemade food that I've had, but it certainly hit the spot. Overall, this review was probably more a rant than an objective description of the restaurant. It's the first Indian food that I tried in Tucson, and I'll be checking out other places before I come back.

Bought a groupon for $26 for two drinks, an app, two entrees and some rice. I showed the waitress my groupon prior to ordering and she didnt mention any restrictions. We ordered some naan so when a bill came at the end of the meal i wasnt surprised as that wasnt covered in the groupon. But i WAS surprised when the bill was for the total a la carte items just minus the $26 we paid for the groupon. My husband hates to make a fuss so wouldnt let me question it but ive never had that happen. Food and service was ok.

We should have walked out when we walked in at 1 pm and noted not mouth-watering aromas, but a cloying odor of bathroom air freshener. Or, perhaps we should have bailed after sitting down and feeling the tell-tale baked on lumps of ??? on the back of the dinner plates. As noted by others, we also came in on a Groupon, 2-drink, 1 appetizer, 2 entree dinner for 2 "valued" at $52. Site imposed "restrictions" --which menu items were included/which were not--came across as a bait-and-switch deal and made it impossible to attain anywhere near the stated value. This is bad and the quality / taste of the food does not make up for it. Based on positive review comments, for appetizers we went for the keema samosas--light and flaky they were not. The pastry was flat and tough. The lamb filling was dry and reminiscent of the lamb and rice kibble we feed our dogs. For entrees we chose the Delhi Mixed Grill, and sampler plate of tandoor specials suggested to be "Where All The Natural Flavors & Juices Are Sealed In" and a vindaloo. Overall the tandoor selections were dry and rather tasteless. I love lamb and even enjoy good mutton, but this was definitely lacking in taste and texture; the bone-in chicken pieces were somewhat better. We've had better vindaloo from Costco pre-packaged meals. Portions are adequate, but on the small side. I expect a change of plates between appetizer and main course, but the same plate functions for both. (I also expect the plates to be clean!) Overall the experience was disappointing and definitely not up to good solid economy restaurant standards. What was good? The Mango Lassi was delicious, thick and smooth and well-priced. Servers were attentive (there was only one other couple dining at the time).

First off I love this place , unfortunately my deli mix that I always get when I come in has been horrible the last month or so that I've been in ...The chicken is burnt and bitter ,the lamb is so dry and burnt it was awful ..my nann was also over cooked it came out very crunchy and burnt.. Organic tea always great though!!!!! service was good just complaining about my meal.....please fix issue thanks.....

My company ordered online from Delicious Deliveries and there is no indication on the menu or on their website that rice is not included - not New Delhi's fault other than trying to slide an extra $2.95 under the radar of customers, but why wouldn't you include rice in a $13 small bowl of curry? Like other reviews mentioned, the vindaloo has no spice. This dish is supposed to be spicy, and this is the southwest, what happened? Quite honestly the frozen chicken tikka masala from Trader Joe's has a richer and better tasting sauce. I feel like they go heavy on the tomato paste and light on the yoghurt. I found the garlic naan to be overpriced as well. $2.95 for what is basically one large tortilla? Regarding the plates - I'm not sure if the paper plates are provided by DD or by New Delhi, but 6" plates are difficult to eat on if you're not a child or an oompaloompah. I love Indian food and I wanted to like this place, but I'm very unsatisfied overall with quality and cost. Except for the rice! The rice was pretty good.

I attended a Meetup event at this restaurant last night, and the company and conversation were great! The food and service...not so much. I understand that having a group of 20+ can put some stress on a small restaurant like this, which is the reason I am giving them two stars. The "benefit of the doubt," if you will. My meal started with a soup that was on the specials menu. It was very tasty, but it took it over an hour to make its way to me from the kitchen! Don't restaurants have soups made already, and just ladle them into bowls? Anyway, the delay was surprising and disappointing. For an entree, I chose the vegetable curry. Unfortunately, there were a few notable issues with the entree. First, I was asked if I wanted rice with it. Of course - isn't that what curry is typically served with? They had several varieties of rice, which is nice, but they charge for all of them separately - and they aren't inexpensive. I was a bit shocked that rice wasn't included with the meal. I've never seen that before, in an Indian restaurant. Second, I ordered my curry hot, in terms of spice level. It was the mildest Indian entree I've ever tried - no spice at all. (And when she delivered it, she said "vegetable curry, hot," so I don't think it was a mistake?!?!) Finally, there were very few veggies in the VEGETABLE curry. It contained a couple of carrot slices, and a few green peas. Otherwise, it was all huge chunks of white potato. If I had to use one word to sum it up: bland. I'd like to say I'll give them a second chance...but I probably won't. There are plenty of Indian places in Tucson, and many of them have higher ratings on Yelp than this place. I trust my fellow Yelp reviewers, so I will most likely bid adieu to New Delhi Palace.

Not impressed. The chicken tikki masala was horrible. Tasted like chicken in tomato soup. No Spice or flavor My sister ordered the chicken mahkani (butter chicken) and it looked and tasted exactly like the tikki masala. The Dal wasn't much better. lentils and beans were not cooked enough. they were out of ice tea. hmm with a walgreens a few steps away.... why not go get tea bags. Anyway, worst Indian food I've ever had. oh and the Groupon they tried to cheat us. we ordered extra side dishes outside groupon and told waiter such but they tried to claim they have to use the least expensive items ordered as our 4 entrées. we stood our ground and they finally make the check right.

First time here, I wasn't sure what to expect. Granted it was a Thursday evening. The parking lot was empty and there was only one other couple here with me. At first glance the menu had lots of options. From organic teas to dozens of vegetarian options this place had me at Hello. The food was delicious and the tea soothing. If your looking for some quality Indian food on the east side, look no further!

We were in the mood for Indian, we were close by, they had a buffet - we dived in. the sauces/curries were quite watered down. The tandoori chicken was good, not too dry. However we got there early during lunch hour and I suspect that over time it would have become quite dry. Overall there were barely 8 items on the buffet. The staff was pleasant enough, atmosphere fine. Just average to below average bland indian food.

I went here for lunch on a weekday, but decided to order off of the menu instead of trying the lunch buffet. The restaurant is charming and has gorgeous full wall murals that give it a unique Indian atmosphere. There was only one other seated table for most of my visit, and they were eating the buffet. I ordered a lamb dish off of the specialty menu, and picked "spicy" when asked if I wanted mild, medium, or spicy. I also ordered a piece of naan. I felt like the service was slow considering the restaurant wasn't busy. I wasn't watching the clock, but it felt like a long wait. When my lamb turned out to be overcooked, it made me less forgiving of this wait. The lamb dish looked rather small for a $12 item, but the bowl was deceiving and the portion size seemed good for one person. The dish had the sweet, warm flavors of exotic spices, but had just a hint of actual heat -- I wouldn't call it "spicy" by any stretch of the imagination. The biggest issue was that the lamb was very very tough. I thought they overcooked it. The naan bread was delicious and went well with the lamb, but I was surprised at the cost. It was more than $2 to add a single piece of bread to the meal? The waitress didn't mention that when she asked me if I'd like bread with my order, and I think that's a high price for what it is.

Below average Indian food. Everything is pretty bland and uninteresting. I have been coming here for years, and it never gets any better. We had the lunch buffet today and it was not worth the $8.95. We also had a chicken tikka masala, and it was below average. The lemonade was good but had no ice in it. They would not honor their Yelp 15% off discount for the buffet, and they are not particularly friendly here. There is better Indian food in Tucson, and better service elsewhere.

Lots of vegan offerings, with a nice range of spiciness. Foods are fresh and colorful. Atmosphere is lovely with painted murals on every wall, Indian music overhead, an incense hinted in the air, and the friendliest staff I've met anywhere. Even the bathrooms are quaint. I always enjoy coming here.

Comfortable ambiance with suiting music. Dim natural and artificial lighting. Tabletops are neatly decorated and chairs are comfortable. Staff was polite but not very knowledgable of the dish intricacies. We ordered Karhai lamb and Makhani with a side of pulao rice. The dishes came out quickly and were very flavorful. The Karhai was scented with various spices and had a mild kick to it, while the makhani was sweet and creamy. Pricing was on the low to moderate end. Would recommend, but only because we are in tucson and are limited in ethnic cuisine. TB

Great murals on the wall. No tv showing Bollywood is a bonus. The water tastes bad. I asked the waitress if they had chicken chili and she said she knows they have lentils. Two very different things. I was confused at first but then figured she must have thought I was asking about chili. Like red beans and ground beef chili and thought the next best thing to chili is lentils?? Or lentils are legumes and so are chili beans?? The pakoras are the size of big meatballs. They taste pretty good.

Ran in to get the lunch buffet. The murals around the restaurant are amazing! Tables were clean, the chairs were plush, even the salt and pepper shakers were interesting touches. I also liked that the waiter left the water pitcher on the table allowing me to not have to wait for refills. The restaurant was pretty empty, but it was very early in the lunch time and a holiday so that didn't surprise me. What did surprise me was the food in the buffet was cold. Lunch service had only started 15 minutes prior to my arrival and the food on the buffet was already lukewarm at best. I tried the Bombay Potatoes and found the large chunks of potato were under cooked and the large chunks of zucchini were mushy. Good flavor, but the texture was backward. The rice was also slightly under cooked, I found several grains of rice that still had hard centers. The meats were the best dishes by far; lamb meatballs, and the chicken curry. The lamb meatballs were a touch dry and the gravy they were in was a little heavy handed with the red bell pepper. I also had a piece of tandoori chicken which I found to be bland and chewy. That leaves the chicken curry. The flavor was wonderful. Savory. Not spicy, not sweet, and excellent balance of seasoning. Tasted great even lukewarm. One problem. The chicken still had bones in it. This is a major hazard! I was picking splinters of chicken bone out of my mouth and setting them back on the plate. I had no idea to expect bones in the dish at all, and I count my lucky stars that I didn't get any caught in my throat. All in all, it was pretty disappointing. I don't think I'll be stopping by there again.

Tonight we had another delicious dinner at this family owned restaurant where we come every time we're in Tucson. The chicken tikka masala is especially wonderful as was the kootu, a veggie entree with a lentil sauce. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The walls are painted with lovely murals which add to the ambiance. We can't wait to come back!

I absolutely love this place and I eat here often. The ambiance in the restaurant is very relaxing and they have pretty hand painted murals on the walls. I'm assuming a family owns this restaurant because I always see the same people there and they are friendly and helpful. They have a special menu on the table that they change out. It highlights a different region of India and the choices are dishes from that region. I like to pick off that menu so I can try a variety of stuff, and every time the food has been great! Sometimes the service can be a little slow. I think it's because they take time with their food so I don't mind the wait at all because it has always been worth it!

For an Indian restaurant located in Tucson, I say this place is pretty good. Although the portion size (sit-in and take-out) could be a little bit bigger for the prices they charge compared to other similar restaurants I've been to in the past. This place is definitely worth to check out if you have cravings for Indian food and if you live near by. If you live near the north side/on Oracle I would prefer to stick to Saffron Indian Bistro (in my opinion is the best in Tucson)! Some of my favorite items at New Delhi Palace are the vindaloo chicken, biryani rice dishes, chicken tikka masala, and chicken fraizee! I would pass on the naan at this place, as well as the samosas as they are a bit tasteless and dry, respectively.

Nice flavors. Would give 3 1/2 stars. Traditional Indian selections. None of the super fancy Indian dishes one might have tried in many other cities. This particular trip tho we tried the Mixed Indian Tandori grill. That dish I would not recommend. 3 pieces of meat were too tough and dried out to eat. The Tandori chicken was very good. We had a lamb spinach dish that was very good. I particular love their hot tea selections. Fabulous!

We had a coupon for a free entree so we thought we would give New Delhi a try. Everything we ordered tasted excellent including my cocktail. It was called a Wizard. It was not on the menu, my server recommended it after I told her I preferred vodka over rum or tequila. We ordered two lamb dishes, the rice with onions and peas and of course, naan. We also had an appetizer; no room for dessert. We arrived late, we were one of the last tables. Our food came out fast and everyone was friendly and welcoming.

First visit, very happy w ala carte ordering. Tikki Marsala, curry , nann, and rice.Had an Entertainment coupon or we would have had the buffet for under $10.00. Sunday about 1pm. Live about 15 mi away but will return if opportunity arises. Noticed only meats offered were chicken, shrimp and lamb. Chicken was excellent in both dishes .

I recommend coming for dinner instead of the lunch buffet. Some of the best Indian food Tucson has to offer. They always have an interesting seasonal menu and a very nice wait staff. This is one of those places where you can randomly order anything on the menu and expect to be delighted :)

You guys need to stop playing with us and actually get some spice in the food. The vindaloo is as plain as it gets and I am glad I didn't ask for the chicken madras to be spicy enough to be the ceylon. I'm eating the leftovers and reliving how incredibly not spicy it is. This is coming from an American white girl. Yes, I have experienced child birth and pain is subjective, but your spice level needs to go up quite a bit. You guys need to take it to a real level and not be afraid of spice. The Indian food I had in England didn't play around but you do here. Spicy is a concept I don't find in existence here and until you actually make your spicy food spicy I will go elsewhere.

I ordered take out. The containers were in a bag leaking and sloppy. When I got the food home, it was barely luke warm, the flavors were way off, and everything was just coated in oil. Really not great, not even mediocre. I've had way better indian food. Expensive for the portion size too. I won't be back.

Had Delhi Palace cater a party for our newborn son. They took care of everything, including table setup, burners for food, and a comprehensive and affordable menu. Helped us with food selection, and suggestions were perfect. More than enough quantity for a party of 50. Couldn't be happier!!

We eat here pretty often because their food is fantastic! I'm stuck on 3 items that work to make 1 perfect dish: basmati rice, chicken tikka masala and raita. I love it. And I add naan to eat it with. Hubby loves the lamb curry, medium heat. The mild heat is good too with chutney. He also likes anything from the tandoori menu. He gets chai made in traditional Indian style with cream. I'm not a fan of tea with cream. They offer a variety of sodas, teas, smoothies and other beverages. It's a soothing place to eat, but it's not too quiet either. Try it if you're looking for something a little different.

Second visit to this wonderful place. Food is good. The service is good they even leave a pitcher of water at the table. Brought rest of the family who enjoyed the food also. Quiet little place clean and even seemed happy to have us on the holiday. Though it isn't one their religion celebrates I think. Non the less a Sunday night and so happy to see me and my family for diner.

I've been here a few time now, and while the meal hasn't been anything thrilling, it's not disappointing either. The restaurant is a bit of a trek for me, but it's better than any Indian I've found in the central section of town. The service was quick and friendly, with constant water refills and our food coming out quickly, but not too quickly. I've tried the samosas (pretty standard,) vegetable biryani (flavorful, but lacking the golden raisins and cashews the menu states,) and vegetable curry (good, but nothing to rave about.)

Disclaimer: I'm not Indian. I have no idea what authentic Indian food should actually taste like. I'm not even a talented foodie like Anthony Bourdain so, I can't describe techniques, regions, spices & history of my favorite dish here. But, I can tell you this: +The chicken tikka masala was good and my kids ordered a second tandoori chicken after they finished the first order. +The have a rather extensive "mocktail" menu full of fruity, colorful refreshing non-alcoholic drinks. +Samosas here are tasty. +Skip the lunch buffet in lieu of the regular menu. The buffet is sub-par and while you may pay a little more for the smaller portions of the a la carte layout of the dinner menu, you will most likely agree it is better & fresher. I'm glad my faith in this little establishment located between Boot Barn & Walgreen's was restored this time around. So good to have good Indian fare in my neighborhood!

Buffet is small but there is a good selection of basic Indian food that is nicely spiced at a fair price.

New Delhi Palace was my first Indian meal in Tucson. I adore Indian food from the North to the South, esp. the South. This is a Northern Indian cuisine. The restaurant was nicely air conditioned, fairly busy-but not packed (steady business means good food movement/freshness), well lit...tables or booths. Takeout menus and the Tucson Weekly available by the door. Bathrooms were clean and a bonus candy quarter vending machine in the back. Walls are painted in murals of India, think taj mahal at dusk. They took our order via i phone/i pad POS (point of sales). The order goes directly into the kitchen. It has been so successful for them, that they have begun selling the system. A pitcher of water was brought to our table, nice touch when eating so many flavorful items as Indian cuisine roasts, toasts, grinds in a morter all of their spices until they are combined into an exotic take you away flavor journey! We started with the assorted snacks: three mixed pakoras, one vegetable samosas (they do have keema/meat samosas on the menu), one lamb sheesh kabab, and one papadum (crisp lentil wafer with spice, think Indian tostada). It was served with an onion chutney, mint chutney and tamrind chutney-which they kept on the table the entire meal -which I adore. $5.95 We split the chicken Tikka Masala. Tender small but plentiful chucks of skewered tandoori chicken nesteled in a creamy tomoato sauce which is slowly simmered. You could taste the ginger, garam masala, and lovely addition of cilantro in the sauce. Presented in a lovely copper pot. We ordered it hot...due to the cream it is not known as a spicy dish...hot came out perfectly....a little heat, but not overpowering the flavors. $9.95 You must order the rice separatly. Rumor has it that years back in the 1960s, a British gentleman stepped into an Indian restaurant and returned his order of chicken tikka complaining that it was undercooked. Tired of his customer's rants, the chef opened a can of tomato soup, threw in some cream and cooked the tikka in the sauce. Ironically, the dish became so popular in England that in 2001, it was declared as England's national dish. Some Indian critics claim that it was born in the early 1500s when Babar, a Mughal emperor sick of choking on the bones of his tandoori chicken asked his Punjabi cooks to remove all the bones. Cooks terrified of the angry emperor chopped off all the bones before throwing the chicken into the tandoor (clay oven). They cooked the chicken in spices and served it to the emperor. Either way I love ordering this! We also spilt the naan- few things beat bubbly bread fresh out of the tandoor. It was not greasy and it was one large piece in a bread basket. $2.25 I can rarely resist Kheer (rice pudding with cardamom) or Gulub Jamun. I had the Gulub. Flour and cheese balls float ontop on heavely rose syrup.....it was presented cold, I am used to is being warm...either way perfect end to a meal $2.75 Everything came out fast but fresh! When you are done they bring you the bill and some Mukhwas, saunf, or basically "mouth freshener". Cardamon, betel nut (suparee), anise seeds, fennel, sugar, and even little bits of silver freshenyour breath and aide in digestion. Full bar is avilable and tons of aurevedic teas (wish I paid more attention...also chais, and lassis. They are running a special on some south Indian cuisine from Karnataka, sadly no dosas, chili chicken, chicken 65 or chaat. Buffet is available for lunch...only one hot food line. They also have facebook.

My wife just brought me here for my birthday tonight. There are many lovely points to be made about our experience. The ambience is clean and quaint. It is obviously private/family owned which I prefer over chains any day. It is simple. The emphasis is on the food over any frills. It took a while to be acknowledged at the door which was disappointing, especially since it wasn't busy. Once we were seated, it took at least 5 mins for a server to bring menus. After looking the menus over, the server was short with us, not unfriendly, but not especially welcoming. After we placed our orders, our drinks came but the water did not until I asked for it. All of this is a bit nit-picky in my opinion but still is the reason I redact one star. Once the food came, I understood the recommendations for this place. In one word, magnificent. The appetizer sampler we ordered was delicious from first bits to last. The main course took a long time after the apps but once we got it, it's was some if the best Indian food I have ever eaten. Overall, the only thing that wasn't on point was the service. It was slow and lacked energy or personality and for a night that wasn't exceptionally busy, they could have been warmer. The food was top-notch and I have no problem recommending this restaurant to anyone that has the time to enjoy a long, but incredible, Indian meal.
