The food was good overall. The tacos were ok and worth the money, fish burrito was really good, and the bacon wrapped shrimp was above average. The staff was nice, but somewhat inefficient.

I have to say not such a bad spot but I was expecting more. I ordered a fish burrito and it was 80% rise ... No need for a big burrito if it's full of rise, just make it smaller but more flavorful it's not hard. Big isn't always better.

Unfathomably good. Grilled fish tacos are amazing, huge, and amazingly cheap. We came here last night for dinner and it was so good we had to return for lunch today. Skip the platter and just get 2 tacos-- the rice and beans are good, but I was full after the tacos and didn't end up eating them. If I were still hungry, I'd prefer a third taco. Also super inexpensive. Each taco is less than $3, which puts 2 tacos are well less than a chipotle burrito, while being 500 times better and at least as filling.

Absolutely loved the freshness of the food! We ordered the fish taco plate grilled and then a grilled shrimp taco and fried fish taco! The fried fish batter was light and not greasy. The grilled fish was moist and flavorable and the beans and rice were delicious. Really loved the simplicity of their rice. We will definitely be back! Eat and live well

Been waiting for this place to open. I thought I was going to be a fast food place but it's not. It's an actual sit down restaurant, but still has that feeling of a fast food joint. It's relatively clean inside, open kitchen, and decor is nice a clean. The menu is fairly simple, but wish it had a little more English. Was greeted and seated, and chips and salsa came right away ( bean dip and a pretty good salsa). I ordered fish taco (battered), and garlic shrimp plate. My girl friend also ordered a fish taco but also ordered shrimp chiviche. The fish taco is loaded!!! And very good. The garlic shrimp was a little bland but had a ton of garlic which I like. The plate came with rice and beans. The rice tasted like blancos rice, kinda milky goodness. My girlfriend said the chiviche was okay, bland. Knocked Off one star because things were kind of bland. But the fish taco has a ton of flavor and will be back more of them.

Seasoned grilled fish tacos is all I have to say! They also have a drive-thru window which might be awesome to take advantage of when I don't want to take my kid out to dine :)

I've been to this new place twice now and enjoyed it very much indeed. The first time I had a fish burrito, and the second, the Shrimp Culichi. The Culichi, especially, was amazing. The shrimp were perfectly done and the creamy green sauce is so good you want to savor every drop. The serving staff have been excellent and cheerful both times, and conscientiously clean up table and booth for the next person. You can see they take pride in the experience everyone has. I also love that you get salsa *and* beans with your chips.

What a pleasant surprise. Good value, and great food Mexican sea food eatery with table service in this former fast food building. I really enjoyed my meals here and can recommend others check out Mr Baja Fish.

This was our second visit to Mr. Baja fish. It is always very clean. The wait staff is very pleasant. I had the battered fish tacos. They were delicious. My friend had the grilled shrimp taco plate. He also said it was delicious. We shared some Flan for dessert. It was wonderful with a lovely presentation. My friend also loves the grilled peppers served as a garnish. He always eats mine too so I'm not sure what they taste like. We would definitely recommend this place.

I work near Mr. Baja Fish and we have slim pickins' in this 'hood when it comes to restaurants. I was so excited when they took over the building, and it doesn't disappoint. They have awesome grilled shrimp tacos. Battered fish and grilled chickens tacos are good too and reasonable. Chips are fresh. In fact all the food has been fresh. I've been 3x in 3 weeks and its now a new favorite!

Hands down the best fish tacos anywhere! I ordered mine grilled, you could taste the fish. The onions and other food items that were served with the fish did not overpower the taste of he fish We also ordered Shrimp Fajitas. Out of this world! The portions are very generous. The way the onions and peppers were prepared were so crave able, again preparation was exceptional. They serve a bean salsa that you will not find anywhere else! Shrimp Chiviche portion huge! Was a little dry to the taste. Like mine with more tomatoes a sauce. Don't think I'll order it again. We were greeted when came in the door, as well as other patrons that came in the door after us. This will be a place we return to many times. Loved it!

We just had lunch there for the first time and everything was really good. I had shrimp tacos and my husband had fish tacos. Beans and rice are good too. Very clean and friendly. Glad to have something new in our neighborhood.

I have been craving the classic fried fish tacos. I have been searching for a good classic fish taco since Thursday. Mr. Baja Fish had the right name but the tacos were a letdown. I had a fried fish taco and a fried shrimp taco. The fish taco had two pieces of fish and two tortillas so I was able to make two tacos from one. However, they just weren't anything that great. If you have 'fish' in your name you should make great fish tacos. My taco today just wasn't very good. The shrimp taco was better but only had three shrimp, not really enough to split for a second taco. The other problem was the Jamaica water. It was from a mix/concentrate and not mixed correctly. It was way too strong. The place has an odd feel, restaurant but also fast food. There is a lot more space dedicated to the kitchen than the dinning room. The servers were all wearing headsets (like a drive through) but I couldn't figure out why. In my opinion the floor of the dinning room needed to be swept. Really, this isn't a restaurant I will be going back to.

First time here! Good service, good food and nice clean place. They did a excellent job converting a KFC into a baja style restaurant.

This is one of my new favorites and will definitely be back. The staff is friendly and the food is really good. I had the Culichi Shrimp and it was so good. I really like the bean salsa that came out with the chips too.

I didn't know what to think of this place upon driving by it, it kinda looks a little tacky, but after my friend told me how good it was, I gave it a try. I've tried their grilled and battered fish tacos, and their grilled shrimp tacos, all of which are very tasty! I love their chips and salsa, most of all the beans they give you with the chips. Service has always been excellent as well.

Went hoping for something comparable if not better than the local Mexican Seafood chain. Tried a shrimp taco and a shrimp ceviche tostada. Ceviche was meh, and better can be found around. The shrimp taco was extremely greasey and not edible. Paying over $10 for most entrees in a fast food building is ridiculous. Would never return, and I don't see this place being open long with better options nearby.

Great food . 7 mares soup is a winner . Very reasonable prices and nice staff . The next time I tried the fish taco plate and they were awesome . I am making this my regular stop for Mexican .

I've been 4 times now and the food is just great. Having been to Baja no less than 50 times and tasting many, many fresh fish tacos, I can tell you this is as good as the street cart in Ensenada that I've been going to since the 70's. Try this local place and get 2 fish tacos a la carte for $6 and you will be full. Try both the grilled and battered. You will not find a better place.

We both had the tacos, his were battered and fried and mine were grilled Basa. Both were delicious. Next time we will order takeout and head over to Dragoon brewery. We had just come from there.

Mr. Baja fish is a very good bargain! My husband and I are from out of town staying at the Hampton Inn down the street. Thought we would take a chance seeing the reviews and we both love Mexican food. I ordered the grilled fish taco plate and my husband ordered the grilled shrimp taco plate. We swapped so we had one of each. Both were delicious! A big piece of fish with grilled veggies folded inside a fresh corn tortilla. The grilled shrimp was just as yummy. Both came with beans and rice. All that for under $8. We both left very full. I can definitely recommend.

Wow, what a great little gem of a restaurant. We saw the restaurant change from a KFC, and thought that it would be a run down restaurant, but it was very clean and the food was terrific. My husband and I each split a crispy fish taco platter and a shrimp taco platter. They were very good. The tacos were great, the beans and rice were good, we were nicely surprised in the quality of the food. We got a lot of food and spent under $25 for both of us.

Great shrimp empanadas, and got battered fish and grilled shrimp tacos on the server's suggestion. Also got the culitchi shrimp too. Fresh made lemonade was actually better hit than horchata. Around our table there were some whole red snapper, tilapia, and also foiled wrapped fish and smile were all around. (even the fried fish kids meal). Helpful friendly staff to boot!

this place was recommended to me by a friend-----they have fresh items rather than frozen and the seafood and Mexican items on the menu are superb!

Heaven! Mr. Baja Fish is exactly what I had hoped it would be. The grilled fish and shrimp tacos were perfect. The service was excellent. The place is super clean. My husband and I both loved this restaurant and will be eat here many more times.

I have just eaten here for the first time. I ordered two grilled fish tacos. They were superb; the best I've had anywhere. Warm chips are complimentary and served with delicious homemade sauces--one a hot sauce and the other a bean sauce. Mix them together for a true treat.

Fast, friendly and tasty food. They bring out chips to your table to start which are nice. Quick drink refills too. I had the mixed fajitas and it was filling and hot. Not enough tortillas to use all the serving though.

Had a fish taco and carne asada taco. Both were some of the best I've had in town. The fish was excellent and the carne seemed very good quality meat. Would definitely go back. It is a bit more of a sit down restaurant with a server, so you'll be in for a tip. Looks like you could order to go as well.

We continue to come here every other week. One thing we love is the generous portions. (We love it because we always have our two toddlers with us and love the fact that they can eat off our plate) The calamari was delicious the first time we got it a few months ago but yesterday it wasn't as great. Still really good and a big serving but I wasn't a fan of the batter used to fry it. It wasn't as crispy as it used to be. It was almost soft with very little crunch. The fish tacos are still as good as they were the first time we came here. I absolutely love the way they cook the rice. It tastes so buttery. Whatever it is the owner is doing, he's doing it right. We've met him a couple times at the restaurant and he seems really nice and knowledgable in the food business. All of the staff has always been friendly and accommodating to our two two year olds.

So, my frequent dining partner suggested the other night that we find some tacos. We typically bemoan the fact that authentic street tacos are hard to come by in quality form throughout most of Tucson, but we decided to peruse the listing of recent entries on yelp to see if we couldn't find something to pique our interests. I saw a ridiculous name -- Mr. Baja Fish. I skimmed through the pictures, looked at the star ratings, and decided we might as well try it. Mr. Baja Fish resides on the west side of the I-10 freeway down on Grant, an area I rarely have cause to visit. That may no longer be the case. What looks like a small former fastfood location opens into a rather large seating area and a gigantic kitchen with a small bar off opposite the entrance. Again, my picky nature almost got the better of me as I glanced over the menu, noticing that a lot of the tacos came with vegetables or pico de gallo on them -- I'm not the biggest fan of peppers and tomatoes, but I thought hey, I want some fried and grilled fish, I'll ask for one of each, what could possibly go wrong. Nothing. Nothing went wrong. They were both incredibly delicious, especially the grilled fish offering that was topped with grilled peppers and onions, both of which danced playfully off my tastebuds with some background heat and char inherent in the grilled mahi. The chips were excellent, the bean "salsa" or dip on the side even better. Their regular salsa was definitely spicy enough for the heat enthusiasts. I really, really enjoyed the beans topped with what I'll guess was cotija cheese and the rice that was buttery and filled with corn kernels. My dining companion of course tried the fried fish tacos, but seemed much more intrigued by the carne asada taco she had with it. We would definitely go back, not only for the great food, but the clean atmosphere and the kind and expedient service. We ended the night not with what we expected, but perhaps something...more? Hoo-rah!

I work in this neighborhood and have ordered the fish tacos several times...I crave them as they made with very fresh ingredients. Delicious! I look forward to dining in the restaurant and trying more of their yummy options. The combo comes with 2 fish tacos with rice and beans. The beans are REALLY good and the rice has fresh corn kernels in it...good also. It is a big filling meal...wish they had a combo with one taco! Tried to order this once but they seemed to tell me it wasn't possible and that I would have to pay for the two taco meal to get one taco! Some more ala cart ordering would be good. Go try this place!

This place looks like a fast food joint when you drive by but when you walk in its a sit down. They have 2 tvs with sports on and booths. Lots of space. The amount of food they give for price is amazing. The chips and salsa was great, they also give beans Price very affordable. You will most likely have left over. Friendly service Only con was margarita, tasted like it didn't have alcohol in it.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
