I just had to check out this institution of Tucson since I am here so often, it almost seems a crime I have not done so. The chicken pieces themselves are on the small side, but I am willing to accept a condensed version of deliciousness! I don't claim to know the secret to how they get their chicken so crispy, it just is. Double fried, cornstarch, baking powder? Either way, it is perfectly seasoned and crispity, crunchity! I expected the sides to be a *yawn* afterthought, but the toast was so buttery and amazing, the fries were extremely crispy and salty. The shrimp cocktail was fresh, firm, and the cocktail sauce was spicy enough with horseradish. This place is a must if you are looking for a simple, good fry-up.

Stopped in for my first time based on reviews of friends. Gotta say I don't get the hype. I ordered a chicken meal, and boy the chicken pieces are sure small! The leg was probably the smallest I've seen anywhere, and the "breasts" have most of the actual breast removed, so all you're really getting is the tenderloin and bones. Not great. Also, I was really looking forward to their special cocktail sauce, which I thought was included with the meals, but apparently not because my meal didn't have any! I'm not sure if they just forgot or if that needs to be ordered separate, but either i'm quite disappointed!

This is not a place to go to if your watching your figure! The food is great I've been eating for years. I love the shrimp. I finally tried the fried gizzards and they're great as well. Great place for lunch

Another Tucson staple. I've had the fried chicken, chicken fingers, steak fingers and fried shrimp and they're all good. This location offers burgers and surprisingly they do a good burger. I recommend either the burger or the thigh chicken dinner, but get some of the hot sauce to put on the chicken.

For what they are, I'll give them 5 stars. You want a box of fried food? They'll serve it right. The fries are the typical frozen fries, but cooked just long enough and salty enough. I had shrimp and it was full of flavor. There is nothing worse when eating fried shrimp than only tasting the breaking, so this was great! My bf had the steak fingers. As much as I love seafood, those were so much better! If we ever make it back, I'd like my own box. That or gizzards... Yes, they have gizzards here... And yes, I'm one of those who loves them lol. Okay, so I won't go out of my way to drive to Tucson for this, but if I'd definitely go back.

Despite being a Tucson native, I had sorely neglected Lucky Wishbone for many years. Then, one fateful night, a friend happened to bring some over for dinner. It was like LOVE exploded. Straight into my mouth. Err... that sounds dirty. Love exploded in my stomach? Well, in any event, I had the "WhereHaveYouBeenAllMyLife??" moment with the chicken fingers, the fries, and the garlic toast. Since then, it's been every little excuse I could find to make it a Lucky Wishbone night. "The Bachelor is on! Let's get some Luckys!" or "It turns out I just have a sinus infection and NOT ebola! Let's get some Luckys!" You know, those everyday special occasions. On Sunday, it was Superbowl and we were going to a friend's house. Not wanting to show up empty handed, and wanting to bring something I knew my 1 year old would eat, I begged my husband to swing by the Lucky's on 22nd. The staff there seemed slightly downtrodden, realizing they couldn't get the Superbowl channel on their TV. An understandable frustration! But they were kind and friendly to me. I got a Family Meal, a Mom Meal, and some onion rings. The chicken fingers were delicious, fries crispy, toast buttery, and onion rings tasty. Love, love, love. Well, my cholesterol may not love, but it's Superbowl Sunday people! This is American, dammit! And we were a big hit at the party too... you walk in carrying that white box with the red lettering, and we were getting mad love from Patriots and Giants fans alike.

I had to try the Lucky Wishbone. Too much history to ignore. I had the toasted cheese sandwich, which I must say was very, very tasty. Completely evil with melted cheese and butter and I loved it. I got a side order of onion rings and they were pretty greasy but true to form. My partner got the fish fingers with Texas toast and fries. She said it tasted pretty doggone good. The restaurant was immaculate and the menus are offered in Spanish and English. The prices are very fair. We'd sure go back again but won't be frequent visitors as it caters more to meat eaters. I'm glad we checked them out.

There are a few places that just scream Tucson to me and where I like to go when I am back in town. Those places include Eegees, Bob Dobbs, Sausage Deli, Blue Willow and, of course, Lucky Wishbone. We were in town visiting my parents for the 4th of July weekend when I had a craving for steakfingers. Although I'm used to going to the Lucky Wishbone at Swan and Broadway or when in high school, to the one near Salpointe on Campbell, my father mentioned that a new location is now open just on the other side of Reid Park from my parent's house. We ordered some steakfingers, fish sticks, chicken fingers and some fried shrimp. My father picked it up and said the store was clean and service was prompt. The food was as good as ever with good entrees, french fries and texas toast soaked in butter. It certainly fulfilled my craving for Lucky Wishbone and I enjoyed sharing part of my Tucson childhood with my Phoenix-raised wife and our small children.

Lucky Wishbone started off as a mom and pop and have been expanding quite nicely. I kept seeing it on my way to the eastside of town so i decided i need to stop and try it out. (West on 22nd st and Tucson blvd, the south side of 22nd, if you go east past country club you went too far) This is an under-rated KFC, Church's Chicken type restaurant. It is fastfood style food but since it is made fresh for you upon order it takes a little while for you to get it. This place is my favorite place to go now when heading out to the eastside. I usually get the steak fingers cause they are soo good! Their chicken though...is soo fresh and delicious, no overly sized steroid chicken here so if you want an american style meal then order a little more. Their fries are Delicious shoe lace style, if only they had sweet potato fries i would love them more! For those who aren't down with the fried chicken, shrimp, steak fingers, chicken fingers, fish fingers, liver or gizzards, then they have burgers for you or grilled chicken, fish and GRILLED CHEESE! I haven't tried the burger yet but when i do i will edit this post. They have extra's galore (fries, onion rings...etc), THEY CATER!! If you are in a rush and want some good fried food call your order in and pick it up on the way. GREAT FOOD!! go there now!
