I went into this burger place a couple of months ago when I first moved to Tucson. I liked it then and today, when I returned, i was impressed again. The quality of their customer service is excellent. There is no pretension in anybody there, it is a family owned business, and the people behind the counter treat everybody with a smile. As for the food, they gotta have the best burgers in town. The fries are what fries should be and there are a lot. What I really liked is the semi-outdoors sitting; It's still inside, but the windows are open. It's right across the street from the main library, near a couple of banks, near the courthouse, and close to the law library. You folks at the Mexican Consulate should take a trip to L&J and see what nice people they are. Are there any other consulates in the vicinity? Cement American relations with good ole American food. I have not tried the burgers, but this place makes an awesome Breakfast Burrito! Fresh tortillas, delicate potatoes, perfectly cooked eggs and a super tasty salsa. Today was my 2nd day in a row here for breakfast. They are that good.

Really tasty burgers and excellent hot dogs as well. While the fries are nothing to write home about, the o-rings are very tasty - not too greasy, not too crumbly, but just right. My only problems are the burger buns (which are very doughy and have a somewhat unusual mouth-feel) and the hot dog buns (which seem to be exactly the same kind I buy at the grocery store). Prices are quite reasonable for a downtown restaurant - I can usually get out for $8. I'd also HIGHLY recommend getting a milk shake on a hot afternoon. If you fancy chocolate, get one early - they often run out of chocolate syrup as the day goes on.

Burger was LOADED with salt and pepper - it was so strong it was almost not edible. Fries were undercooked and way over salted. Prices are high for what you get - sodas are very small (maybe 12 oz). A double burger with fries and drink will cost you $13-15. There are so many better burger choices in this area for the money. Will not return.
