Like this place. Pretty good sushi, great location near campus.

If you're from out of town and looking for a place to have a nice family dinner I wouldn't recommend this place. It's not the cleanest and they're probably breaking a few health codes but you get over it after a Sake Bomb and good music. It's a sushi restaurant run by frat guys...so don't take yourself too seriously. For the price, the sushi could be better. I am a fan of the large Sake Bombs for $5 and they have the best noodles I have possibly ever eaten. I am obsessed with the Chicken Yakisoba, it's unhealthy what I would do for some of those noodles right now! They have Happy Hour every day 3pm-6pm and on Sundays all day! It's a perfect spot to watch sports as they have a few large flat screens. I wouldn't recommend delivery but instead do pick up, it's easier, cheaper and probably faster.

Sushi was on point and the Sushi chef was real friendly. The staff was real attentive and made sure I was enjoying my sushi and never had to worry about my hot tea or water ever being empty. I will definitely be back more when I'm in the area because of the great food and service. Great tip- the music and ambience was chill Or in better terms, suited for someone in my age range. They were playing Hip Hop, alternative rock and once they played Santeria by Sublime I felt like I was back home in So Cal! Keep up the great work!

Wanted to grab a quick lunch and sat at the sushi bar. Only 2-3 other tables were occupied and was super slow, but it took about 15 minutes to get a menu. Saw the chef wipe excess wasabi on the brim of the trash bin and then proceed to use the same knife on other things. She made crab mix by dumping a thawed bag of crab mix into a bucket. She then scooped her hand into a tub of mayo, mixed it with her hand, decided that that was not enough mayo, then scooped another glob of mayo with the same mixing hand into the tub. More than unappetizing, it was incredibly bizarre to watch. Better off with pre-made sushi from UA's deli.

I was in town for business and came here on two occasions. Both nights I was greeted by Katelyn(?). She was super awesome and had good energy. As some more regulars came in, I overheard them talking about new ownership that had happened not too long ago. I wouldn't know the difference cause I had a great time. I checked in both nights after my workout and received my free miso soup. (You can also opt in for edamame instead!) I would definitely pass on the teriyaki beef skewers. Too salty, too saucy and the meat was tough. However, everything else was awesome including the soup, seaweed salad and hand rolls. I felt invited and comfortable. The restaurant isn't big and I can see how it could get crazy during the school year. If I stay in this part of town again, i would definitely go again. The majority of the restaurant is taken up by the sushi bar. That's where I would recommend sitting!

I always have to wait extra long whenever I come here to get my food but at least the rolls were tasty enough to keep me coming back when I was craving sushi around that area of town and service was nice. I don't come out of my way to eat here ever since its usually filled with loud and obnoxious college students. However, last time I came with my boyfriend and waited for an hour on two rolls. They didn't even have all the ingredients listed and tasted terrible. Apparently the head sushi chef had to leave early and left the apprentice by himself. The manager seems annoyed when I complained. Never coming back.

The sushi is good, but the rest is not too impressive. However, the service is never bad and everyone is always nice. So, why not.

Came here for a friend for drinks. I ordered sake which was served in a plastic cup accompanied by a plastic shot glass. The shot glass was dirty and I had to ask for a new one. My friend ordered a bear down bomb which I have ordered before in the past and it is very tasty. However, my friends drink tasted like punch and the waiter served the drink with the bomb already in it, what's the point?????? The waiter also proceeded to tell us that the menu was incorrect and not to ask him about drink orders because he doesn't know anything. PASS!!!!

I like the beef, chicken, and shrimp tepenyaki or however you spell it. Service was amazing. I also had this salad with seaweed, fish, and other stuff that was great. They pack all the raw fish. Great protein. And free miso soup comes out in the beginning too!

  • Susy P.

They took 90 minutes to deliver and told me the food was ready at 60 minutes, which meant my food was sitting at sub-hot temperatures for 30 mins. It arrived and was cold... They didn't offer to discount or refund anything despite originally saying it would take 45 minutes to deliver. Womp womp

  • Kaori C.

Terrible service! Smallest portions. Had to wait an hour and a half for very small orders

Good service and awesome happy hour specials. Ordered the honor roll, animal style roll, spring rolls and miso soup. The soup was like warm but everything else was great.

Came here last night with my bf.. only because he has been convinced that there they have "revamped" it from before. Although the service was great I can't say the same for their food. I ordered the fuku bowl without poki sauce and substituted instead for gluten free soy sauce.. and for some reason the fish on the plate just wasn't that good. There also wasn't enough sushi rice on the bottom of the bowl, but no biggie. The biggest flaws were the quality of the fish and the "hardness" of the rice. I really wish Fuku would pick up its Sushi game, don't they know that their sushi just isn't that great? Don't they know if they were to step up their game more people would eat here? On the plus side, although I mentioned it already the service was great, and if you check in you get a free edamame or miso soup ;D

First off, I would like to say that I am a sushi lover and a very easy going customer. All I look for in a sushi restaurant is quality food and friendly staff which I do not believe if too much to ask for. I have been to FUKU sushi in the past and the food was great and the staff was fantastic, however in the past two weeks the quality seems to have decreased drastically. I am not sure what has exactly changed, but I am assuming the establishment is is under new management because the quality of food and service is no longer there. But, if you are interested in sloppy rolls, inconsistent food quality, lazy staff, dirty bathrooms and a loud college bar when enjoying sushi then this is the the place for you. I will no longer be eating at FUKU Sushi, there are nicer sushi restaurants in Tucson, AZ with better food and much better service.

Be haters all u want. We came in at 9:30 sushi bar we closed. I asked, They made us sushi! The sushi was legit (but a little sloppy- non asian chef to be expected) the taste was amazing. It's like unconventional sushi. This is a place to eat, drink and enjoy atmosphere... Maybe the haters were such bitches the waiter couldn't stand to come back to others.. Our service was great but unconventional!! Great place to have fun and eat.. Just don't expect 5 star service ... It is Tuscan

  • Korbyn K.

sushi was bad. service was whatever. BUT the garlic fried rice was bomb, and that's why they get one star.

My boyfriend and I were staying downtown and we're excited to see this sushi restaurant right by our hotel. We started with ordering the house red wine. After about 10 mins, the server returns to tell us the red wine was "left out" and is now hot. We also did not even have waters brought to us. The experience continued in the same manner. We ordered & the server returned to confirm what we ordered. Twice. When she returned again, she told us that they were out of salmon and did we want to substitute yellowtail. At this point we left. I will not be returning to this restaurant.

  • Anais Q.

I truly hate leaving negative reviews, but my experience at Fuku really left a bad taste in my mouth. My boyfriend and I are sushi lovers and went to Fuku to try a new place. Service started out great, our server was quick to greet us and get our drinks and appetizers. We finished our appetizers, which were good, and waited for our server to return and take our order. 35 minutes go by, and a different server stops by to refill our empty glasses. We put our order in with her and about 10 minutes later we see our original server walking around university with his backpack on. When our rolls finally arrive, we were a bit disappointed. Some are good, some are bad, all were sloppy and difficult to eat. I dont think we will be returning to Fuku sushi anytime soon.

The. Worst. Restaurant. Period. The menu reads beautifully. The sushi is inexcusable. We ordered several delicious sounding rolls. We also ordered a chicken rice bowl for our son. We requested brown rice, for a dollar more, for our son's meal. The rice he received was white rice that had been stirred in soy or teriyaki sauce so it appeared somewhat brown in color, but was so obviously NOT brown rice. Why not just tell us they were out? Our rolls, which were to be drizzled with scrumptious sounding sauces, were bare. The promised sautéed onions for the animal roll, the waiter pronounced, were no longer being served with that roll. I could have made the rolls that we were presented with, stripped as they were of any of the promised fruits, sauces, and assorted goodies. Needless to say, there is no chance we will be returning. I am amazed, AMAZED that this place is in business.

  • Yuwei C.

Sub-par sushi and the worst bento box I've ever had. Incredibly watered down saki to top off the meal. Service wasn't horribly slow, but the waiters weren't friendly. Overall, lots of room to improve. Plenty of other places in Tucson to enjoy Japanese cuisine.

    (2)
  • Erik J.

Ahhh Fuku always seems to disappoint me. Service was lousy - every time I go here there seems to be a whole new staff of servers who have no idea what's going on. Most of them are somewhat visually appealing (the girls) which I am pretty sure is the only reason they were hired. Sake bombs used to be good here but now they literally serve their sake bombs AND sake in clear plastic Solo cups. WTF. I will say that this place does get really rowdy especially on the weekends. I will continue to go here just because it's fun if you go with a big group or for some moderately overpriced sushi.

    (2)
  • Camille F.

Great sushi, the red ninja roll was delicious! The yakisoba chicken noodle dish was also flavorful and a good portion for the price. The server we had, John, was attentive and super nice! If you love sushi and good deals, this is a great place to come.

  • TDawg T.

There was very little salmon in my salmon roll and what was in there was not fresh. The tuna was disgusting. In addition, the rolls fell apart when I tried to pick them up. This place sucks.

    (1)
  • Tom W.

We arrived under the new management. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had the ghost pepper roll and it was the hottest roll I have ever had - it had a ghost pepper paste holy smokes - we immediately ordered rice!! Enjoyable experience and good food located less that a block from the University.

    (4)
  • Moe G.

Most of my frustration and dislike for this restaurant comes from the staff. The food and prices are ok to begin with, but the rude and un-knowledgable staff just take the place down from ok, to pretty awful. This hasn't changed since I started living in Tucson four years ago, so it's safe to say this place is persistently bad.

    (1)
  • Stephanie A.

I wish there was a good sushi place near the university! But Fuku is about all we get. I actually don't think I've ever tried the sushi here, but the appetizers are great for hangovers (very greasy) and they deliver. Saki bombs are the best thing at Fuku. I'm surprised this place has lasted this long, to be honest!

  • Nick B.

This place is the biggest joke in Tucson. If I could give it negative five stars, I would. This review is based off of four years worth of experiences coming to this place (why I chose to keep coming back when my friends wanted to go here is beyond me). The sushi is nauseatingly bad, and the beer tastes like the draught lines haven't been cleaned since the Reagan Administration. The management is terrible, a sad reality reflected in the abysmal level of service provided. It must be a requirement to have serious attitude issues in order to work at this place. You basically have to kidnap a waiter to get them to take your order, let lone bring you what you ordered. What is most annoying about this place is that they refuse to do separate checks, despite being a college bar only a few steps away from campus. This is probably so they can add extra unlabeled items on to the bill in an attempt to rip them off, something I've caught them doing repeatedly. Do yourself a favor and avoid Fuku like the bubonic plague. The faster this establishment goes out of business the better Tucson, and indeed the world, will be.

How can I give a place less than 1 star because this place hasn't even earned 1. A little background, I used to work right around the corner and ate here frequently. The sushi was always decent and the service was always terrible. A bunch of college kids who have little to no work ethic. But it was cheap and close. I ordered take out sushi from them 4 days ago. When i got home one of the rolls in my order wasn't anything i ordered it was all thrown together and looked awful on top of being the wrong order anyways. Upon further inspection my Vegas roll only consisted of cream cheese and salmon... The unknown roll was topped with salmon that looked more like plastic and tasted accordingly and smelled like old fish. I ate one piece from each roll called and asked to talk to a manager so that i could return there poor excuse for sushi and get my $40 back. I was told a manager would call me back... they never did. The next day i called back 3 times 1 hour apart each time and spoke with associates who just said hello and what do you want when they answered the phone. They took down my information and told me a manager would call me back in about an hour.... each time. again no call back. Yesterday i called again 3 times with no answer at all. today its 635. i have now called them 2 times with no answer again. By far the worst customer service i have ever experienced anywhere. I still have their terrible excuse for sushi in my fridge in case they decide to call me so i can exchange it for the money i wasted on an incorrect and awfully prepared order.

horrible. service has been bad and slow every time I've been there. sushi isn't good enough to be worth it

People leaving two star reviews are straight up hatin. Dropped in from so cal and this place was pretty bomb. Loved the happy hour deals. Awesome sauce 200% check this place out

  • David A.

Oh my lord this place is disgusting. You don't come here for the food. It's repulsive and will give you stomach issues. The only reason it is still in business is because the sake is good. Other than that, don't come here period.

    (1)
  • Ryan M.

Bad sushi. College staff doesn't really care for their jobs but rather finishing their conversations about non-work related business seems to be the key priority Also the miso soup is overly salty and if you order takeout I can guarantee they will mess up your order.

    (1)
  • Jason C.

The waiters and waitresses are texting instate of helping. The food is absolutely terrible. 1/3 of the sushi falls apart before I start eating. The worst restaurant of all time. Good place to waste your money. Keep texting and stop helping your costumer.

    (1)
  • Michael W.

The only reason I came here is because it is close to University of Arizona campus. The quality of sushi is the worst that I've had in a long time. I had cheaper sushi for much higher quality. Only come here if you need to fill your stomach and you can only eat sushi. There are far far far better options near by.

  • Jim S.

Been her several times. It is located right off of campus so there is always activity going on. Well except this weekend, Black Friday. All the students must be doing Turkey Day at home or at least not school. The sushi is always fresh and the hand rolls, my favorite, are HUGE. They really stuff them. They can even be hard to hold/eat but I managed. Normally the salads sushi joints have are good but sad looking. At Fuku the salad was fresh, tasty, and attractive. They don't just use that crappy iceberg lettuce. Make sure to order it too.

    (4)
  • E P.

Zach was our waiter and really made the experience much better. Don't expect much from this dining experience though. They have good deals on Sundays which is what brought us in. All day happy hour pricing for food and drinks was a very good deal. All in all it's not a restaurant I would make a trip to downtown for.

  • Ryan F.

I had not eaten at Fuku before, and I ordered takeout tonight (bad decision) and when I got it, the boxes had been thrown together so that all the food had rolled over onto one side. My sashimi was covered in wasabi as a result. I got the veggie spring rolls as well, which might as well be called veggie grease rolls because the box had a layer of grease. One of the rolls was completely demolished like it had been sat on or something. I had one of my sashimi rolls and two bites of a spring roll before I dumped the rest in the trash. I am so saddened that I spend the money on what I bought. Definitely not going to eat or recommend this place again. A gigantic waste of time and money.

    (1)
  • Grace B.

Loved the sushi. No matter what we ordered it was still very good. The waiter accidentally added another roll to our bill but gave us a complimentary roll to make up for it. Nice (and attractive) guys! It's a win win

I went to U of A briefly in the fall of 2009, and Fuku was one of my favorite places to eat. It had a friendly, laid-back atmosphere, and I have Fuku to thank for first exposing me to the delight that is Teriyaki chicken. The service wasn't great, but the food made up for it. Fast forward to 2014. My girlfriend and I were looking for an apartment in Tucson, and I suggested that we go to Fuku for lunch - nostalgia is a powerful thing. To put it simply, it was awful. It took forever to get a waiter to take our order (we were the only customers in the place, it wasn't as if he was busy), the food took far longer than it had any right to arrive, and when it finally appeared, the chicken was cold and tasted... Off, somehow. I wound up giving up on it and devouring all the sweet potato fries instead. The food is terrible (low end of tolerable if you get lucky), the staff are too busy socializing to actually do their jobs, and it's just overall a tremendous disappointment. I heard that they changed management sometime between 2009 and 2014, and if that's true, whoever's in charge now needs to get out of the restaurant business.

  • Leslie P.

What can you really expect from a restaurant with sushi "chefs" barely old enough to shave? This is really a college bar, disguised as a restaurant. Not only is the sushi almost inedible, but it's fairly expensive as well. The only reason to go here is for the cheap sake bombs. Do yourself a favor and go to Azian if you are on a budget, or nearby Yamatos if you want the best tasting and most authentic sushi in Tucson.

    (2)
  • Wei L.

Mediocre sushi with terrible service. They have happy hour specials that are reasonably priced but there are better places to go. The servers are college kids that could not care less about the service they provide. This place is viewed as trendy but like most trends, it's not worth it.

    (2)
  • Dave K.

So here I am finishing my meal as my girlfriend waits for her simple sushi rolls. Well simple if you are at Forrest Gump's level of intelligence. Sadly the staff at Fuku are below that level of intelligence. 30 minutes has gone by in this empty restaurant and the simple order has no sign of even beginning to be made. I won't be back here. If they can't produce food when it's empty imagine what the service is like at 25% capacity. I think the city of Tucson should lobotomize all the employees for the well being of the city. Ohhh they just finished her order. It's wrong.

    (1)
  • Christopher P.

Decent sushi with fair prices. The true appeal of this venue has to be the location and cheap Saki bombs (5 dollars). Fridays are always a blast and can get very packed so seating is limited Unfortunately university has been closed due to construction so foot traffic has decreased and parking is a nightmare. Hopefully Tucson can get it together by the school year and complete the trolly project on time.

Pathetically worst sushi and Japanese food I've ever had. Even worse than RA and Sushi Garden, worse than anywhere I've been in AZ, CA, HI, and Japan. A sorry excuse for "Sushi" and anything Japanese. McDonald's could do better. Both times I was dragged here I got sick. Truly, horribly physically ill. Their sushi is sloppy and flavorless and everything else I've sampled there off of my friend's plates tasted far worse than anything out of a box from a low-end supermarket. A friend of mine went there and had such a horrible experience with the food that he refused to pay and the sympathetic server said, "yeah, I understand." I'm guessing they are still in business only because they target consumers who are too inexperienced with Japanese food to recognize how nasty their "cuisine" is -and consumers who want cheap alcohol. You can get amazing Japanese food, sake, and sushi from a Japanese-American chef, trained in Japan, for the same price, just a mile north in a funky strip mall. Go there and impress your palate and friends and your hot date who you just might marry some day.

  • Gloria V.

I would leave zero stars if possible. I've given this place two chances because the sushi is great! However it takes an hour to get to you, servers are rude, and hopefully you don't need any refills the entire night. The second time I went at 545pm and their sign said open until 7pm. The guy inside sees us making our way toward the door and takes the sign down and locks the doors as me and two of my friends stood awkwardly outside double checking the hours. Crap service.

  • Roland W.

Okay, my review may be different because I ordered sushi to go, but I have to be honest. I placed my order on grubhub and got it within 35 minutes. I ordered the fried california roll and the eel roll. Both were tasty, and my only regret is that I didn't order more. I can't speak for the service in the restaurant, but I was very satisfied with my delivery order, and will definitely order from them again.

    (4)
  • Hannah W.

DONT GO IF YOURE IN A RUSH! The food is yummy but the service is slow. The waiters are mostly college students or recent graduates. They're all very nice but with a limited staff it really is slow! Complaining about it won't make it any faster either. they do the best they can!

  • Ricky V.

Reason to go: 1. Your too lazy to go anywhere further than walking Distance from the UofA for Sushi. 2. You secretly hate yourself and want bowel explosions to due you in. 3. There's no need to talk with friends when the DJ at the place is riding the volume knob around 11. 4. You enjoy the fact that they would rather clean cutting surfaces with Windex rather than Simply Green. 5. If you want to see lots of University Kids who "really like" authentic Sushi 6. Because who wants Sushi after 10pm anyways? that's right Nobody. 7. Because the sushi is OK but after all that, why bother?

Went here years ago when they first opened.. They had some decent happy our menu items the best one being the coconut shrimp. Went by recently because I remember them having a pretty good selection of sake, but that has now since shrunk to only one type of sake. They only serve sake warm and it's basically warmed up in a huge coffee percolator. Not ideal... I didn't eat this time around so can't attest to whether the sushi has gotten any better, however, previously the sushi I had was horrible. That may have changed because it seemed like they have new chefs that take pride in their work and actually know how to make sushi. So chef's seem to be good. Service is kind of horrible. I went in during happy hour and there were only 6 people in the restaurant total. I was the only non white person there. It could be possible that the server I had, and that everyone had, was just having an off day or maybe I was an asshole, however, Tiernany, provided horrible service. Cold, rude, and maybe racist. Provided much better service to the white tables and was cold and inattentive to non white customers. She might have just had an off day, I'll give her that, and Spring Break is this weekend so possible that mid-term and the like are causing her stress, but from my experience rude, cold, and inattentive. I definitely wouldn't want to come back or recommend that any non white people go from this experience. I'll give it another shot and see if it was just a bad day. I don't think I was an asshole, I was pretty friendly and gave a $4 tip on a $7 bill... However from the experience I had this trip doesn't even warrant a tip. Oh yeah... Sake sucks, poor quality and I guess we'll have to wait and see next time I go. Hoping that not everyone there is rude and racist... But we'll see.

Not very good, have gotten sushi that didn't smell fresh a few times as well. Go to Sushi Cho (Broadway and Campell), cheaper, fresher, more authentic Japanese.

Worst service ever. Charged me 60 dollars for 2 sushi rolls. Did not accept their own coupon. They never have basic ingredients found in most rolls and are always rude.

  • Sonia R.

My office got together and ordered lunch for admin professionals day and it was sorely disappointing. First off, the sushi did not come with any wasabi or ginger at all. We called the restaurant back to see if they would bring some back, because seriously, what's sushi without wasabi? They said they would send someone right over and this phantom person never showed up. One of my coworkers was actually waiting for the guy to return with the wasabi and finally gave up. We thought after ordering $250.00 worth of sushi they at least would have returned with the necessary condiments. I had the shrimp yakitori with fried rice tossed with large burnt egg cakes. I've had far better fried rice at panda express. We chose Fuku because they deliver but next time will go with Yoshimatsu. There were no complaints regarding the sushi but the lack of condiments pretty much put a damper on the luncheon.

Really horrible sushi. Seriously gross. If you LIKE the sushi here then you must be 1. Drunk 2. A College kid 3. 2 and 1 4. Never had sushi before, or never had GOOD sushi before. 5. Into the party scene, and having a great time that, hell, everything is good 6. a guy too busy staring at the cute coeds, and thus can't judge sushi right. 7. A girl on a date, Faking how much you like it, so as to not hurt any feelings 8. the owner or friend of the owner 9. not giving a damn about taste, just trying to fill your tummy 10. Reading this a year later, and they finally improved upon their sushi. It would be one star... but I gave it one more because of the fun party atmosphere. It is too crowded and too loud on weekends, which is probably the point of the place. Okay, you guys probably don't realize this...but the Sake Sucks too. Sake is Cold, Beer is Warm, its suppose to be the other way around!! But who cares when its cheap and your drunk! I get it. But this place is located within walking distance of the university, and is right smack near all the other party places, so I understand why you all come here. I get it. Its not for the sushi. Location can make a lousy sushi restaurant thrive.

The only reason they are getting two stars is the bartender was awesome and made some potent drinks! My tuna roll is the reason for the missing stars. It tasted like metal. I had two pieces of the roll before I decided that this was going to end with me feeling Ill. Loved the drinks, don't eat the sushi.

The sushi is okay, but I tend to go to Fuku on Friday nights because it caters to a big college crowd. The atmosphere on Friday nights is fun and it's a great place to start the night. The staff is really friendly as well. If you are going for sushi though there are several other places in the area that are better.

Mediocre food. I go to Fuku, because I work in Maingate Square. I am a regular customer. Today I got charged $3 extra on a $5 dish, for extra lettuce. I asked both of the servers, "what The dealhole?!? an extra $3 for lettuce and Siracha! Are you serious?!?" I am sad...one of the few places I will eat at in Maingate, is losing it. @NEW OWNERS@ don't blow it with petty charges that will cost YOU in the end! My rating is not reflecting today's experience. This is a 3 star establishment today, yesterday, and most likely tomorrow!

  • Kessa S.

This place is a hit or miss. Usually more of a miss. I only get the Las Vegas roll, and usually I get it delivered. I've been ordering from this place for almost two years now, and I noticed the quality slowly depleting. The rolls used to arrive warm, and very well made....almost melting in my mouth. Now, they are stingy on their eel sauce (usually the best part of the LV roll) and they are cold, and poorly made. I would even say disproportionate. If you just want sushi that is relatively good but cheap, I would go to How Do You Roll. Otherwise....sushi garden is way better than this place. Save yourself the money, even if you are near campus, and find another place.

Disgusting, reasonably priced sushi. The fuku fries saved them from a one star. So a friend of mine who goes to the university in Tucson recommended this place to me a while back. I was intrigued. So much so that when I finally had the opportunity to visit, Fuku was close to the top of my list. We decided to share an order of Fuku Fries (shoe string fries that had a hint of wasabi and sriachi ketchup). We also shared the las vegas roll (imitation crab meat, salmon, cream cheese that is deep fried and drizzled with ell sauce), fried california roll, spicy tuna roll (spicy tuna with cucumber), and the spider roll (cucumber, avocado, crab mix, lettuce, and soft shell crab). We also ordered the green tea. The tea was nice and fragrant. Then apparently the order came with a bowl of miso soup and a salad with some type of thick and tart homemade dressing. Both were ok and the fries came soon after. We barely tasted the wasabi on the fries but we definitely tasted the sriachi. This was possibly the best thing we ordered. Then the food arrived. Every roll was pleasing to the eye and smelled just as good...and every bite was just as gross. First, fuku doesn't know how to prepare proper sushi rice. It was too soggy and not very flavorful which confused the hell out of me. The las vegas roll was unappealing but then again I don't normally enjoy cream cheese in my sushi. The spicy tuna didn't taste very fresh. Furthermore, the deep fried california left an aftertaste that aroused a desire to brush my teeth. The spider roll was the best roll of the night. The atmosphere was great. The black and white interior translated to an elegant yet modern vibe. I love the shirts that they have too. The service was ok. The food either arrived quickly or rather slowly. In short: The sushi was beyond disappointing, the fries are a must, the service and atmosphere were great, The price would have been reasonable had the sushi been decent, I'm not going to return and advise that you do likewise.

It's really cool place to chill and $5 sake with Kirin beer and really good food. Full bar with all the favs.

The food was great the staff was awesome but my favorite was the drinks. First time is had a sake bomb, and even though I don't like beer or sake really it was actually pretty good. Fun place and not too expensive down by the university so parking's not so great, but still worth it!

I realize that Tucson sushi restaurants are...different from the ones in SF and LA, but then again, this is not a sushi restaurant. It's more like a bar that serves kinda-Japanese food. Good for getting wasted, not really swell for anything else.

Last year right after thanksgiving I go very sick from there fried rice and veggie dish. I spent all night throwing up and felling terrible. Nice to have food poisoning right after your thanks giving break. In other words don't go to this restaurant! It started at 11:00pm to 4:00am :-(

This place is gross. We went on a Monday night for their 'wing special'. Terrible idea. The wings were horrible. Imagine wings from like Papa John's or something, soggy, not flavorful or spicy, just plain bad. Appetizers? Yeah, just as bad. We got some fried thing, I don't even want to remember what it was, because it was TERRIBLE. Sushi was bad. No other way to explain it. Service is probably worse than the food. Hostess ignored my party for 10 minutes while she seated her friends who came in after us. That's just plainly BAD service. Our party sizes were similar, so table issues could not have caused this. If you're friends are dumb enough to go there, please politely decline. I don't know why, but this place seems to be popular amongst frat/sorority groups. Please, DECLINE. There are about 10 other restaurants in the area that will be much better for the money.

I had high hopes for this place. I have been nearly one dozen times but have decided it is simply not worth holding out anymore that this place will actually improve. Yes, given the University Boulevard location, the prices are reasonable. Yes, Fuku has great happy hour specials. Yes, the staff is -- for the most part -- cordial. But the sushi is, frankly, not very good. On my last visit, my salmon was lanky and slightly discolored. I had ordered the nigiri and instead of sitting firmly adopt the rice, it lay limp across it. The server must have noticed this, but brought it to me instead. That's almost insulting. Ah well. It's just unfortunate.

It is a decent place to eat. At times it can be very loud and busy, so not the greatest place if you wish to actually have a conversation with someone. Also note that if you are under 21, they start carding at the door at 10 and won't let you in if you are under 21... a weird practice but I guess they don't want to lose their license. Service is OK but nothing to brag about. If you want a sushi bar/ club environment, it is a good place. If not, try another sushi place nearby.

BEST SUSHI IN TUCSON BAR NONE!!! After living in Southern California and NYC i have very high expectations when it comes to Sushi and Fuku Sushi met them and then some!!! Such warm, welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable employees, amazing sushi (I really recommend the Red Ninja Roll) and a great atmosphere! The prices were very reasonable especially during happy hour. Cant wait to go back!!! Our absolute favorite Sushi place out there by far!!!

The management needs to take charge of their staff, last night I witnessed the bartender throwing a drink on a girl because she was taking too long to pay. Who does this? If the staff cannot handle the drinking promotion they have on Friday's then maybe they should rethink it.

Loud, usually crowded, and sushi is meh. But it is the only place by campus for Sushi. The name is clever, the decor trendy, and the serving staff undeniably gorgeous. The food is so-so but not good in terms of sushi, so the only time I would go is during Happy Hour (3-6pm or all day Sunday). There are always sports games on and so it's always loud and busy. In short: Loud, but OK if you need your sushi fix.

I have only been here one time but I think it will be my last. I came here for a good night out with my friends one Thursday night and was terribly disappointed. We started by ordering Sake bombs which somehow managed to taste horrible. The sake tasted like it was made in a prison toilet or maybe out of gasoline. It smelled horrendous but I decided to brave it out and the taste did not deviate from the smell. So to get the smell out of my mouth I ordered a roll of sushi which in itself was a task. Once receiving my avocado roll I could not believe my eyes. This was the most pathetic roll I have ever seen. It was incredibly small, expensive, and was literally a small piece of avocado wrapped in a small portion of rice. Oh and it didn't taste good either. Ugh, just thinking about it makes me upset to my stomach. After my experience I will likely not go here again.

I literally just got back to my office from a quick lunch at Fuku Sushi and had to write about it immediately because it was hands down my WORST experience in a sushi restaurant EVER. My girlfriend and I stopped in for a quick roll because we were craving sushi and Fuku is, sadly, the only sushi near campus where I work. I had been once before and had sworn I would try Fuku again to give them the benefit of the doubt. However, they proved they do not deserve my or your business yet again. First off, the prices are high, too high considering the measly size of their rolls. They do not specify how many pieces you will get because some rolls, like my Go Green roll, come with only four pieces for a 9 dollar price tag. My girlfriend got her roll quickly, an okay looking Philly roll, small for its 7.50 price tag. My roll did not come out for almost ten more minutes. The restaurant was basically empty and they could not sync the arrival of two rolls for a couple. My roll arrived and was very poorly rolled. One of the pieces was sealed, but the rest fell apart upon me trying to pick them up. I left them all on the plate, but our server failed to notice that neither of us had eaten even half of our food. Mind you, we each only ordered one roll for lunch. Having worked in food service, I know that good servers should notice when someone has not eaten their food and ask why, if they can bring something instead, or if they can take it off the bill. Our server seemed oblivious to the food still remaining on our plates. The bill came to 18 dollars and I tipped the appropriate amount because I would rather be nice to a server who, while failing to see the obviously dismal rolls, works for a restaurant which is responsible for the problems he then has to manage. Instead, I will happily never go back and make sure that my co-workers and friends who ask about Fuku get an honest review of a place which, frankly, is a downright insult to most sushi restaurants.

Avoid this place like the plague. If you want decent sushi, forget this place and go to Yoshimatsu. The sushi is TINY baby-size, this miso soup tasted like nothing more than salt water. I'm not a big eater and I left hungry. It hurt to spend money here. The rice was tough, the fish was flavorless, the place itself looks nice on the outside but the tables were dirty and the menus were sticky. The servers' uniforms don't look very hygienic either. Go to any other sushi place but this one. There, I just saved you money! :) lol

Food was of REALLY low quality. the service was atrocious. When we were paying for our takeout, one cashier made fun of the new cashier, who was clueless and snapped back "I hate you." The people working there were oblivious and forgot to give us what we ordered, so we had to come back a second time to claim the missing appetizers. The spicy salmon box I got had a smattering of unfresh raw fish on a disproportionately large bed of rice. It was tasteless and I had to add soy sauce to give it some flavor. It was also VERY loud @ night. I can't believe the price they charge for such unpleasant food and service. I told my fiance that he should NEVER bring me back to this place again. There are so many decent eateries on the University. I would give 0 star if I can. Don't waste your money there.

I've never been to Fuku for dinner or happy hour so I can't comment on those aspects but I heard it's a pretty big party scene at night. The food is mediocre, with mushy rice and old fish. The rice or noodle bowls are bland and disappointing. Their fuku fries are pretty good but it's pretty hard to mess up deep fried fries. I hear it's a great place to go for drinks and a fun atmosphere on the weekends, but don't expect good food with your drinks.

It pays to locate within a stone's throw of UA's main gate. The sushi here is nothing short of okay, although our rolls seemed a little too warm. The dragon was decent and the spicy crab was "meh." Edamame are jazzed up with rock salt and steamy crisp, but really our rolls were just too small to make much of an impact. We were hunkered down at the bar, but still had to shout to be heard over feverish undergrad sports fans. The service is attentive and professional despite being overwhelmingly busy. Their T-shirts are hilarious but Fuku needs to get off the coattails of being a concept and schedule a field trip to check out Yamimoto to observe how a yellowtail roll is done.

I think my review is going to be the odd one out since I'm one of the few not giving a one star review. Let me preface this by saying: I have never tried their sushi, and every time I go, it's late afternoon on a weekday, so most students aren't out drinking at that time. I ordered one of their sandwiches. Seemed weird to have sandwiches at a sushi place, but I'm not a huge sushi fan so I thought I'd try it. It came with a cucumber salad that I found oddly delicious. (I've also had their seaweed salad, which isn't the best I've had, but still pretty good. It's a little more oily than usual.) The sandwich -- can't remember which one, but I think it was called something like The California? -- was also very nice. I'd go back to have it again, but I definitely wouldn't risk going on a weekend.

Stopped here for some sushi after a concert at Centennial Hall. The sushi bar is also the drinks bar, and the restaurant is probably a typical college scene plus the sushi. Although I sat at the sushi bar, I had a waiter, too, who was prompt to take my order and bring me my green tea et al. I had shrimp tempura sushi, sans cucumber; and it was good. It took a while to get a second cup of tea. No alcoholic beverage. I have one complaint : My bill total was $6.55, and I gave the waiter a $10 bill in cash - he gave me $3 back in change. I asked him where the rest of the change was, and he told me that the register doesn't keep coins, just bills. I'd originally planned to leave a $1 tip and only had a single quarter in coins. So, I ended up leaving him the quarter figuring that he'd add it to the 45 cents I didn't get back - a tip of 70 cents rather than $1 because there was no way I was leaving a $1.45 tip. I don't appreciate this kind of practice, and I suppose, had I paid with a credit card, it wouldn't have been an issue. The charge for the sushi was reasonable, while the tea was $2, which seems to be a common charge for green tea, which I think is overpriced.

The Sushi isn't the best in town, but what they lack in food they make up in drinks and prices. You can't really beat a $5 sake bomb. The atmosphere usually makes for a good time. The best part about Fuku is that they're not trying to a pretentious sushi place, they just wanna make some rolls and get some people drunk

Average food but we had attentive service. Our party of five had the calamari and spring rolls appetizers which were both good. The sauce for the calamari was spicy hot and delicious. The rice in the bowl dishes is not sushi rice and the tuna in the tuna bowl was akin to poo-pu. The Sappharo beer on tap was great. We were there on a Tuesday evening and the place was quiet. I am told that on the weekends the place is elbow to elbow and the music is frying the shrimp. In spite of its cleaver name, Fuku it seems to be in search of an Identity... is it a cool bar with loud music with Japanese bar food or is it a Japanese restaurant? The men's room needed attention.

Very overpriced and flavorless food. Should definitely look into free delivery to the Univ of A dorms since it is just a street over. Only reason this place gets business is because it's open late.

If you're looking for a cheaper replacement for RA, this is the place to go. Yes, it appears that it's run by students, and can be loud inside at times, but the deals are worth it. I've been here a few times and have had great experiences with their sushi. Happy hour is 3-6pm and all day Sunday. Sunday is the day to go. Try a mango mojito for $3 and a Coleman Roll for $5. Luckily, I've had fast service the few times I've been there. But I could see how they could easily get too busy with not enough servers and be a little slow. I like the modern setting, much better than the cafeteria-like setting of some traditional sushi restaurants.

I love sushi. I do NOT love Fuku sushi. We went in around lunch time, the place was empty. Should have known better... There was no drink list, just a food menu & a sushi menu. I asked for green tea... they were out. We ordered the Spring Rolls & the squid salad to start. The Spring rolls, priced right at $4, were dripping with grease, though they did come with a yummy orange marmalade sauce. The squid salad was a baby handful of overcooked, rubbery squid, sans flavor that we paid $7 for. I know that dishes are up for interpretation at every restaurant but this plate in front of me was not a squid salad. Next, I ordered the Honor Roll. The server, who was a nice guy, offered miso soup & a house salad for just a dollar! I accepted. The miso was the worst I have ever had. Tasted like liquid cardboard & the "salad" was a spring mix from Fry's with nasty dressing. As far as the roll, rice was not sushi grade, avocado was missing, & it was just a big disappointment. I didn't even finish it & I can put down some sushi. Do yourself a huge favor & just go the extra mile to On a Roll on Congress Street. Their sushi is AMAZING, ambiance is awesome, service rocks, & their happy hour is a good deal.

The last time I was here with about 30 collegues attending a conference at U of A. We had a total blast here! The place is smack dab in the middle of U of A, and it was kinda crazy inside this tiny joint on a Tuesday. After a day of meetings and boring business, we drank as many sake bombers as we could, and ate whatever was laid out in front of us (which all tasted pretty damn good at the time). Not the type of place I would go for a quiet evening with the wife. The type of place I would go if I was at a conference, and this was one of the few places open late. Anyway, with about 30 people at an average age of 37 years old, we rocked this place like pros-- chugging beers with a neighboring table of sorority girls (that I'm sure thought it was funny that a bunch of old people wearing matching polo shirts were keeping up with them on a Tuesday). A vendor payed the bill, so I have no clue if it was expensive, but I have to say to whoever paid, it was worth every penny.

Fuku is not the place to go for a great meal. It's the place to go on University to get a good sake bomb and hang out with good looking people. It's a college town... expect the unexpected. Fuku has $5 sake bombs and a great happy hour. Sushi sucks- but you only go to Fuku for drinks and a good time. If you are a freshman in college you shouldn't be eating anyway... stay away from that freshman 15 and have another sake bomb.

Oooof. My first one-star review. It's painful, but I have to say that Fuku Sushi truly deserves it. It was my first time dining there, and that was because one of my girlfriends was having a birthday dinner. I didn't have high hopes, but I certainly wasn't ready for the utter disappointment either. I walk into the place, and it's full of frat boys and sorority girls. Okay, that's fine. No biggie. It's the weekend before the undergrads start. But then, I realized that this place had a bit of an identity crisis. Are you a restaurant? Or are you a club? The music was blasting, and the lights were dimmed down. The token creepy older men were there to check out girls who were barely of age. I had to scream to talk to people sitting across from me. Okay, fine. Well maybe the food is half-decent. So, my fiance and I ordered six pieces of nigiri: salmon, yellowtail, and red snapper. We also ordered a yellowtail scallion roll. Not a big order. I know they were busy. I saw that they were pretty much packed. But at the same time, it's a tiny place, and I expected them to be fully staffed for a Friday night before the undergrad school year starts. Anyway, we waited about an hour for our sushi. Plus, our yellowtail scallion roll was plated on someone else's plate. Luckily that person was our friend and just sitting across from us, but still! I took one look at that roll, and it literally was just yellowtail and green onions, with rice, wrapped in seaweed. No pizzazz. The roll was poorly made, with some pieces having little to no fish, just green onion. To add insult to injury, the nigiri was bad. The fish wasn't fresh. My fiance LOVES salmon, and he said that it was the worst he's ever had. He said that this place is 3x worse than Ra, and that is saying a lot. We quickly learned that this place was NOT a place for sushi. Well, the drink situation wasn't much better. We ordered sake bombs for almost all 15 of us because it was my girlfriend's birthday, and we were in a drinking mood. The Asahi beer came in large bottles, and the warm sake was on the side. The beer wasn't cold. It was only chilled. We dealt with it. Then, when a couple of boys started to just sip the sake, they said that it tasted watered down. I took a sip myself, and I had to agree. Either it was watered down or they just buy the cheapest sake they could find. I was saddened that they couldn't even get that part right. Lastly, they didn't keep the women's restroom fully stocked with disposable sanitary seat covers or toilet paper. So I had to wait a few minutes for the employee to put in more toilet paper, and the sanitary seat cover holder remained empty. Also, the men's restroom lock doesn't work. In conclusion, I will not be returning. I'm also not sure what kind of demographic this restaurant-club is trying to appeal to...undergrads that don't know what sushi is? Or undergrads who just don't care? Either way, for a business to be successful, they need to uphold good quality product no matter who they are planning to serve, and if they don't, more people are going to take their money elsewhere.

PROS: Walking distance from campus & stadium. Good music. Flat screen TVs. $5 sake bombs. Nice servers. Clean bathroom. Cheap for sushi. CONS: Slow, slow, slow. It took about 1/2 hr to get 3 sushi rolls. Sushi rolls were TINY. Good music is TOO loud. No chance conversations can be heard across the table. Bill: 3 sake bombs, 1 hot sake, 3 sushi rolls, edamame, miso soup, and a yakisoba for a GRAND TOTAL of $67 before tax! Coming from SoCal - I'd call that a good value!

Terrible Service!! I could get past the mediocre food and be happy there is a sushi place on campus, but the manager and waiters are just AWFUL! DO NOT GO HERE (unless you like being treated like dirt if you're not "greek")

Sat at the sushi bar the other afternoon and chatted with the sushi chef while I ate, college guy, sushi was decent, a bit expensive even considering the location, but I would go again. It seems that with some insightful management this place could be so much more though, whenever I walk buy it is empty, even, especially when other businesses are booming. It seems that this place hasn't decided what it is yet, a club a bar, or a Sushi Restaurant. With this location I would honestly copy the Ra style and make sushi secondary to a Club / Bar venue, I think it would work here.

I only came in for drinks but the overall ambiance of this place was pretty poor. It's sort of swanky-sports-bar-meets-sushi joint. There were so many TV's we couldn't hear each other talk. I was sitting at the bar and I saw the server set down two plates of food - an app and a roll. They sat there for about 25 minutes before he finally took them to the table where I am sure the guests were growing impatient. If it was my food I would not have been pissed. I guess this place might alright for a college crowd, but I would recommend going somewhere else if you are looking for good sushi.

In all honesty, I think this place is just right... We stumbled into this place during UA's spring semester on a Thursday night. There was a DJ spinning in the corner of the restaurant near the bathroom. The lights were dimmed pretty low. The sushi wasn't amazing, but it really wasn't terrible. We also ordered 2 sake bombs. For all the food and drinks we ordered, I believe my tab was under $30. The service was pretty bad, but I have never received exceptional service on University Blvd. I think our server was either high, or drunk. And she pretty much neglected us after we got our food. I had to go up to her and ask her for our bill while she was chatting with the other servers near the register. So why do I think this place is just right? I think University Blvd. has been calling out for a place like this for a long time. It tries to be hip, and cool, and the owner gets some points for trying. I really don't think he'll need to try THAT hard to be successful here.

So I still don't like It here but I thought I would share another experience. So me and some friends meet up for saki bombs (the ONLY thing I order from here now). And we commence bombing, some friends get hungry and so we place at least 3 orders of 'fuku fries' (shoestring fries with wasabi ketchup). They bring them (after they grew the potatoes) and there is no wasabi ketchup, or ketchup at all. One of my friends who doesn't mind speaking up calls the waiter over and asks why there is no ketchup, 'they ran out' but didn't bother to tell the table that ordered nothing but fries before we ordered. My friend rides his bike home, gets his own ketchup and comes back so we could enjoy our fries. We are ready to go table gets cleared, pay our checks and are heading out the door when my friend realizes he doesn't have his ketchup bottle and asks a server to get it. They say they don't have it, the manager gets involved but only to yells at us. Finally we said that if there is a bottle in the ketchen it has to be my friends because they had said they were all out. Anyway he got his ketchup back and I avoid this place like the plague.

The guy with a backwards cap is competent but the other servers I have had have hardly paid attention. The rolls are loose, not fresh-tasting, and over-priced. Happy hour is only worth it because of its convenient location. The interior is sleek, I'll give it that much credit.

In the words of Lil Wayne...Purple Drank! You can't have more than one but delicious and creative cocktail with a catchy name. Smart marketing right near the U. I do like this place but I just don't LOVE it. The sushi is good the service is friendly and the atmosphere is hip.

Fuku is really a pretty average sushi place. Nothing really stood out here. the lunch specials were reasonable and the sushi bowls were a great idea but really seemed to be missing something that could have made it great. if I am in the mood for sushi and I am in the area I will eat here again, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

The food was actually the most pleasant part about this place. I wasn't expecting much, because well... it's sushi... in Tuscon... but we ordered two rolls and they were actually pretty decent. The service, however, was horrific. Upon entering there was no one at the front so we sat ourselves at the sushi bar. After sitting there for almost 10 minutes the chef behind the sushi bar asked if he could get us anything to drink. In what restaurant are the servers so inept that the chef has to take drink orders? Ridiculous. After we got our drinks we continued to wait. We had not been offered menus yet or had yet to have a server talk to us. Finally the chef asked what we'd like to order and we told him we didn't have menus yet. He had to leave the sushi bar and flag down a server to bring us menus. After sitting for a while (and still no server) we ordered directly through the only person who seemed to acknowledge our presence- the chef. Throughout the meal it was much the same- no recognition from the wait staff- everything from drink refills to the check had to be done through the chef. When it came time to pay (after the chef had to flag someone down and print our our bill), I tried to break a large bill at the register but was informed that didn't have change- only 20s. Seriously? How does the one register in a restaurant and bar only have 20s? How could somebody pay in cash or leave a tip with no change? Unbelievable. Finally I walked around and talked to several servers and found one who finally traded me a 20 for change from his tip money. With that we paid our bill (on debit card, since they're apparently not equipped for customers who pay cash) and gave our tip directly to the sushi chef, since he was the only one who bothered to serve us. Despite the decent food, this place would not be one I would recommend or visit again. No $5 saki bomb is worth it.

Probably my new favorite sushi place, though when I say "sushi" I really mean the fancy rolls with sauces and not the real raw pieces of fish by themselves. I'm not at all a sushi purist, so I go for a place with lots of fancy rolls on the menu, plus a great drink menu. Throw in good deals, and I'm won over! I was here on the Saturday night before U of A started, early enough that it wasn't too crowded and there wasn't a dj or any loud music. My husband and I had the honey fries (fantastic sweet potato fries), 3 fancy rolls, and 3 drink between the two of us, and go out for under $50, which is pretty good for sushi and drinks. The drink menu has great martinis and mixed drinks, all for about $5-$6, a couple dollars less than I'm used to paying. I'm going back on a Sunday, when the martinis are $3 and there are sushi specials. Why not 5 stars? The hostess was dressed in what my husband was convinced was a swimsuit and the timing of the service wasn't perfect, though the guy did a pretty good job. I would have just wanted more time to finish the appetizer before he came asking to take it away.

Warning!!! SERIOUSLY, stay clear of Fuku sushi, I got food poisoning. I ordered Spicy Tuna rolls, they tasted okay while I was eating them but the whole next day I threw up ALL DAY LONG. There was something very wrong with the sushi. I will never come back to this place, if you don't want to be hugging a toilet the whole next day feeling like your insides are coming out- stay clear of fuku sushi.

this place is only okay if i have pre-gamed or if i plan on drinking a couple of $5 sake bombs before my meal. ughh. this place is nasty. one star for convenience... it's so close to campus. & for... the $5 sake bombs. our waiter was M.I.A. most of the time... which i can deal with. my friend's underage so she chose to drink green tea. it unfortunately smelled like sewage water which made me nervous... maybe their own special blend? my friend ordered the spicy tuna roll and i picked the wildcat roll. these rolls were messy and fell apart instantly. fine. by this point, i'm a little tipsy and don't care. we order nigiri to finish the night- salmon roe and tamago. it was decent but that could just be the booze talking. thirty minutes after dinner, my friend became seriously sick. and was in the bathroom for the rest of the night. i really won't go back, unless i'm dragged there. avoid it if you can.

Loved it! Yes there are a lot of beautiful girls in Fuku, and the wait staff looks like they could be GQ models. The service is good for a college restaurant. I don't expect fine dining from college students. I love the laid back feel of the place, and the fact I can have sushi while my boyfriend can watch any sport event on their TV's. I don't get the complaints...I can go to Mr. Ahn's and spend an easy $100.00 for hot food, sushi and drinks or I can go to Fuku enjoy the atmosphere (people watching is great) for $25. Mr. Ahn's should be better at $100 per couple. Fuku is great for exactly what it is...A place for college students, and families to enjoy sushi and a Japanese/American cuisine for a modest price. The service has improved a lot this past year, and with a new chef in the kitchen the food is definately worth trying again if you had a bad experience. I for one have not. My girlfriends and I celebrated a promotion at Fuku. The waiter gladly gave us individual checks and their was 21 of us without adding gratuity. Where can you go with a party of 21, get seperate checks with no automatically added tip? If you want 4 or 5 star dining, quiet, intimate, or upscale Fuku is not your place. If you enjoy reasonably priced food, great tasting sushi, in a fun vibrant atmosphere that keeps me young stop by Fuku Sushi and have a Sake bomb with some college students. It's a good time! Plus it is locally owned!

Terrible. The sushi was an utter disappointment. Yakisoba was also terrible. Not one Japanese person in the joint. I will not return.

Meh. I came here with a friend in between classes and tried to catch a decent lunch. Unfortunately the food was tasteless and slow. The fish itself wasn't bad but the flavor was definitely lacking. Our server forgot about us twice and literally took about 15 minutes to ring us up. I know they are aiming to fill a much needed market for UA students and faculty but I dont think the quality is what we were all looking forward to. I hope they can improve soon, but I don't think I'll be going there again.

Can you award zero stars?!!!Absolutely the rudest, pushiest hostess/ manager, named Cassie Huerta, that I have ever had the displeasure to encounter. I sat down at the sushi bar, asked for a take out menu and was told I would have to get up and wait at the front if I wanted to order takeout. I guess at Fukuu you cannot both order at the sushi bar and look at the menu. I will never go back. Thanks Cassie, I'll never patronize your bosses restaurant again!

I use to go to Fuku Sushi quite often. We liked the drink specials and the sushi was alright, not the best, but convenient. The location was also very convenient since its located on University blvd. I never really had any complains about it until recently. I went to Fuku Sushi last week and met up with some friends for sushi and drinks. We were a group of 10 and 7 people ordered one drink per person. When the bill came, the waitress claimed we had bought 14 drinks! I told her there had to be a mistake since I was in the table and i clearly kept track of who ordered what.. The waitress claimed she was 100% positive she had served us 14 drinks. We talked to the manager since this was an obvious mistake to us. The manager backed the waitress and we were shocked they wanted to charge us 45 dollars more! It was just a terrible experience and I was really upset with the service. That night Fuku lost 10 customers who used to go there frequently. What a shame.

Good sushi and a welcome addition to the Main Gate Sq. Fuku is a stylish sushi bar with solid selections. We particularly enjoyed the Wildcat roll and the sashimi salad bowls.Service was fine during a slow (election day)Tuesday lunch.

Terrible service...I will not be back any time soon. Sushi rolls are tiny, expensive and took FOREVER to receive. Don't waste your money here.

The food in this place is under-whelming and over-priced. I think it really just functions as a place for UA students to get their drink on; sushi is kind of a peripheral thing. Greeted by waiter who acted a little irritated by all the tourists gathering outside for Tucson's Birthday cake giveaway and seemed to take it out on us. Asked if they had Soju on the drink menu. He had no idea what I was talking about. OK, it's a Korean vodka, so I'll give him a pass. Takamatsu had it?? Well, Sushi is a Japanese thing so I shouldn't expect a plethora of Asian liquors. He then said, how about just a couple of waters for you both? Nice...So, got the food and the sushi is probably something I could have made myself with a 5 minute lesson. The rice bowl was something like you'd get in a Lean Cuisine package. Save your money, stay away, unless you are a co-ed looking for cheap Saki Bombers. I don't care if this place gives military discounts and either should you. Hell probably gives discounts on brisket, too, but that doesn't mean you should go there for a BBQ dinner. Any ROTC cadets who are carless, I'll pick you up and drop you off at a real sushi joint anywhere else around town. You can catch your own cab ride back, though.

How would you feel if you enter a place and first thing you hear is not "Have a seat." but "You guys better not be loud or I will kick you out." No kidding. I don't know if the guy (who was the manager I suppose because most of the servers here are really nice, and this guy was dressed up fancier than the servers.).. yeah, so I don't know if the manager mistook us for someone else or what, but I do not think this is the way to talk to the customers. What bugged me and my friends more was the fact that at the same time there was a group of 15-20 girls on a huge table who were really really loud. Loud enough that customers at the near by Hookah place (Espresso) were getting annoyed. Nothing was being told to those girls!! I still do not get why the manager would say so, I hate to conclude but what else could be the reason, if race has nothing to do with it. Some people get suspicious of a group of jsut guys, but I was in a group of 6-7 people - equal guys and girls. All I know is that the place where I used to go quite a lot, I am not going there any more! They are ruining a good place because of that ONE guy. I wish I had read his name, but I was so bummed with his remark that I decided to leave, and so did my friends.

PASS!!!!

I like the beef, chicken, and shrimp tepenyaki or however you spell it. Service was amazing. I also had this salad with seaweed, fish, and other stuff that was great. They pack all the raw fish. Great protein. And free miso soup comes out in the beginning too!

They took 90 minutes to deliver and told me the food was ready at 60 minutes, which meant my food was sitting at sub-hot temperatures for 30 mins. It arrived and was cold... They didn't offer to discount or refund anything despite originally saying it would take 45 minutes to deliver. Womp womp

There was very little salmon in my salmon roll and what was in there was not fresh. The tuna was disgusting. In addition, the rolls fell apart when I tried to pick them up. This place sucks.

Great sushi, the red ninja roll was delicious! The yakisoba chicken noodle dish was also flavorful and a good portion for the price. The server we had, John, was attentive and super nice! If you love sushi and good deals, this is a great place to come.

We arrived under the new management. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had the ghost pepper roll and it was the hottest roll I have ever had - it had a ghost pepper paste holy smokes - we immediately ordered rice!! Enjoyable experience and good food located less that a block from the University.

DONT GO IF YOURE IN A RUSH! The food is yummy but the service is slow. The waiters are mostly college students or recent graduates. They're all very nice but with a limited staff it really is slow! Complaining about it won't make it any faster either. they do the best they can!

The waiters and waitresses are texting instate of helping. The food is absolutely terrible. 1/3 of the sushi falls apart before I start eating. The worst restaurant of all time. Good place to waste your money. Keep texting and stop helping your costumer.

Zach was our waiter and really made the experience much better. Don't expect much from this dining experience though. They have good deals on Sundays which is what brought us in. All day happy hour pricing for food and drinks was a very good deal. All in all it's not a restaurant I would make a trip to downtown for.

It's wrong.

The management needs to take charge of their staff, last night I witnessed the bartender throwing a drink on a girl because she was taking too long to pay. Who does this? If the staff cannot handle the drinking promotion they have on Friday's then maybe they should rethink it.

I am NOT a fan. Sushi was ehh..and service was two thumbs WAY down. It can get pretty loud in there too since it's on University and draws in the college crowd.

I would have just wanted more time to finish the appetizer before he came asking to take it away.

this place is only okay if i have pre-gamed or if i plan on drinking a couple of $5 sake bombs before my meal. ughh. this place is nasty. one star for convenience... it's so close to campus. & for... the $5 sake bombs. our waiter was M.I.A. most of the time... which i can deal with. my friend's underage so she chose to drink green tea. it unfortunately smelled like sewage water which made me nervous... maybe their own special blend? my friend ordered the spicy tuna roll and i picked the wildcat roll. these rolls were messy and fell apart instantly. fine. by this point, i'm a little tipsy and don't care. we order nigiri to finish the night- salmon roe and tamago. it was decent but that could just be the booze talking. thirty minutes after dinner, my friend became seriously sick. and was in the bathroom for the rest of the night. i really won't go back, unless i'm dragged there. avoid it if you can.

Terrible. The sushi was an utter disappointment. Yakisoba was also terrible. Not one Japanese person in the joint. I will not return.
