Were it not for culinary keywords and cues, this place could be mistaken - in the best way possible - for a healing center. Clean decor, soft voices, and house kombucha greet you upon entering. The food is well done and not overpowering. When cooking with vegetables, I appreciate the use of key and often minimal ingredients that allow for a full flavor profile. With the potato cakes and pesto stack, it's as if you can taste everything that's listed in the menu description, and I imagine that extends to the rest of the menu. Rich's recommendation: kombucha, outdoor seating for more of a cafe feel, indoor seating to complete your zen experience.

I had a really mediocre experience at this restaurant. Came here on a date before heading back to Phoenix with the family. I asked to be seated on the roof patio because it was a really nice out! Server forgot us, we had to call the place to remind them that we were there and haven't ordered. We had a ginger drink, which was a beautiful orange citrus colour! It had a unique, spicy flavor. The restaurant is vegan/vegetarian and one of it a kind especially on 4th. I like the food, but not coming back.

I am thrilled by the number of vegan/vegetarian/locally sourced restaurant options popping up around Tucson! When I read about Food for Ascension Cafe, I was really intrigued. I finally made it to the breezy rooftop - wrapped in bougainvillea and overlooking Antigone Books at the corner or 7th St. and 4th Avenue - for lunch yesterday. Our server recommended a new menu favorite: the Beet Reuben Sandwich. I am still dreaming of the housemade sauerkraut - tart and crunchy, not at all stringy - bathed in a tasty Russian dressing and tucked alongside a fresh slab of beet between 2 thick slices of freshly baked bread. For dessert? A melt-on-your-tongue brownie with scoop of ginger ice cream on the side. Next time (and, of course, there WILL be a next time!), I may opt for the stylish dining room with its wall of windows and elegantly curved bar. Or the sunny Moroccan-style patio where there is a wonderful waterfall. What I love so much about this cafe is that every detail has been orchestrated to transport you to a healthy, relaxed place. It feels like a feast - an "ascension" - for all the senses.

Sorry about the closing: A river always changes, but memories have been made at the roof top tables. Always, they listened when something wasn't just right and it became better. I don't track what is happening at Avalon near Tubac, but if this group does another restaurant, I will try it out.

Food was amazing, so sad that it closed. I hope they can open up at least just the weekends for brunch or perhaps just for coffee and bakery!

Where to start.... Extremely friendly staff who greeted us before we even walked in the door! We were in (tasteful) workout gear because we chose to walk there rather than drive and were concerned we may be too casual but they assured us we were just fine. We elected to sit upstairs and it has the most gorgeous views. The entire restaurant is tastefully and nicely done, mixing wood and metal and water and plants... I loved it. The menu is great. My husband ordered a full order of the potato cakes (vegetarian, had eggs) and I had the pesto stack and spring rolls. The spring rolls were a nice appetizer. As soon as I tried the pesto stack, it was over! So delicious. The cornbread was the star of the dish. It was dense and sweet and completely satisfied my months-long craving for cornbread. I didn't have room for dessert, so I'll go back this evening! For real, super cool vibe, atmosphere, and phenomenal food! Wish it were closer to home!

What a lovely, lovely concept! Food for Ascension carries a food justice orientation and specializes in locally sourced vegan and vegetarian eats. For some strange reason, its mere existence must be justified, and I realize it is because the mainstream way of eating in the west serves as the antithesis to the amazing offering here. I got that very sense from just about every employee at the cafe. Everyone seemed eager to explain why the cafe was founded and its driving philosophy. Even slightly defensive. Weird. Rarely do you ever encounter such eager clarification at other establishments. Other establishments quite often stand as-is. But Food for Ascension is such a rarity that eager education seems the driving mode the moment you step foot in the establishment. All that to say: Don't be discouraged that you won't find a thick steak or stuffed salmon or cheesy potatoes on the menu. Food for Ascension offers an excellent divorce from normative western values in food consumption. So, here, you will find Komucha, locally grown fingerling potatoes, chai seed pudding, vegetarian soups and only regional beers and wines, among other wonderful offerings. The cafe works often with Menlo Farms, Barrio Bread, Dos Mangos Apiary and other local growers and farmers. Let that sink in. Merely by supporting this business, you are helping fuel the local economy. This is arguably an act of resistance in a world full of big box shops and chain restaurant (which often do not couch a majority of their incoming dollars in the local community and have little or no distinct personality -- and I know: I enjoy my Starbucks lattes). The space offers a wonderful mix of seating inside and on an adorable courtyard. There is also seating upstairs with lovely views of the Catalinas. I went for the seared potato cakes, which came with poaches eggs. The cakes were served with carmalized onions, a sampling of pico de gallo and a salad with light baby greens. We also received a lovely amuse-bouche: an onion and cumin-flavored dal, served with thin shavings of what tasted like an Italian-styled baguette. Everything was luscious on the flavor -- and served at sizable offerings. I had enough to take home. The menu has so much to offer -- so much to explore! I look forward to more visits here, and hopefully many lovely evenings on that lovely patio.

I was a little hesitant to try this place because of the controversy surrounding it. Articles I had read made it sound very strange and uncomfortable and that couldn't be further from the truth. When we walked in, I could see that it was spotlessly clean. The hostess asked us if we wanted indoor or outdoor...and then up or downstairs! That's right, they have a beautiful rooftop you can sit on to enjoy your meal. And you will enjoy it. The staff were very friendly and passionate about the food they were serving, and also very knowledgable. We were giving a plate with a mung bean dip before our meal that was delicious. My green tea had the option of sugar, agave or honey as a sweetener and it was sweetened to perfection! Everyone at my table loved what they ordered! All of the menu options are plant based, and options with eggs are clearly indicated. The produce used is mostly from within a 150 mile radius and all organic, non-gmo. I mean, I can't say anything bad about this place. The prices are on the higher side for lunch, but for the quality, it's well worth it. We will be going back again and again!

What a great selection of fresh and different selection of vegan/vegetarian. Even as a carnivore, I really enjoyed the bipinbop and truffles. I could eat a dozen of the truffles, they are so good! Their selection of options are vast and my dish delighted my taste buds! The atmosphere inside is relaxing. There is a small bar near the dessert area and tables. The price is on the high side, but nothing outrageous. The part that got one star less was that their hours of operation are not so frequent..at least right now. I think a fun excursion would be to visit the farm!

Locally sourced and always lovely, Food for Ascension is a wonderous adventure into veggie-licious, house-made-Kombucha delights. The menu at Food for Ascension Cafe (sounds downright celestial, doesn't it?) is entirely vegan, save the occasional egg dish. The menu also offers the option to add a poached Tuscan farm egg to any item for an extra kick of protein. That aside, there are only veggies 'round these parts. House millet bread, corn bread, and seed crackers are also available, as a shout-out to you gluten-free peeps out there. Food for Ascension will also kindly take note of any food allergies you may have, and will happily work around them. As previously mentioned, the kombucha is made in-house and it's majorly refreshing and crisp. Oh yeah, so is everything else here -- all homemade, all fresh, all kinds of healthy. It feels good to eat this food. For dinner, I have had the pan-seated potato and greens cakes, served with crisp garden greens, chili aioli, and a mild salsa. A seemingly simple dish, but delicately flavorful and comfortably filling. I also tried the house-made truffles, which were lavishly rich in chocolate and dark cocoas. Not bad. I also indulged in a freshly-baked baguette to-go. I thought it was very fine bread; although the loaf was rather dusty with flour and as a result, tasted somewhat dry. Dusty baguettes aside, I have only rave reviews for Food for Ascension Cafe. Try eating outside on the patio upstairs. It's very quaint and almost romantic feeling, with a birds-eye view of Fourth Avenue.

I love the green smoothie and kombucha on tap. I had the full size seared potato cakes with poached eggs and was stuffed. I also had a bite of the root and seed burger. I like the freshness of their food but the flavor is not my taste. They are definitely very healthy food.

Wow! Let me start off by saying that I'd expect this farm-to-table restaurant in a much larger city with a "foodie" culture. Food for Ascension is a great addition to Tucson's growing downtown scene. My lady friends and I came here for Galentine's Day and the food did not disappoint. After some complementary bruschetta and curried dal, we enjoyed the heck out of our mushroom gnocchi, pickled veggie bibimbap, and potato cakes. We ended the meal with their homemade truffles (how they pack so much flavor and richness into a tiny dessert is beyond me). Their kombuccha on tap is a must-have! I took away one star because we were seated on the rooftop with poor lighting (literally a standing floor lamp... Couldn't see what we were eating). Also the dinner music that they were playing might have been more suited for a yoga class (with the likes of Enya, Yanni, and Gregorian monks chanting! Lol!) $25 for my entire meal including tip. Very reasonably priced for the quality, quantity, and service that I received.

Can't speak highly enough about this place! No matter what your needs or preferences - gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian, vegan - they have you covered. And even if you're a meat eater like me, you won't miss the meat - promise. The staff is super friendly and very knowledgeable. The setting is lovely. I ordered gnocchi with a variety of veggies, my sister had a salad and my mom had a calzone. I also had a matcha latte. Everything was perfect. We skipped dessert, but the display case was tempting! Oh! And bonus points to the staffer who ran out and brought me my leftovers when I had accidentally left them on the table!

Ok, we are vegan, we liked it, we went 3 times in a week when we visited Tucson. Hubby said the Thai basil veggie soup was the best he ever had.. Nice people, good philosophy of farm to table, vegan, special.. And great desserts..

I didn't know this place existed! Tucked just off 4th Ave and right on 7th Street, this cafe offers a tranquil and relaxing atmosphere. Loved the service here---the server was super friendly and offered helpful menu suggestions. Since I was recovering from a hangover, I decided to order a curing elixir of homemade kombucha. My beverage was tasty and refreshing and totally cured me! For brunch, I ordered the Potato Rosti, which consisted of seared potato hash, green onion, sour cream, chili oil, and two poached eggs. The presentation was beautiful, but I think the dish needed a bit more flavor. The desserts here are off the hook! I've enjoyed two different gluten-free/dairy-free cakes that friends ordered for birthday parties, and was ah-mazed at how delicious and rich each dessert was. I'll definitely be coming back specifically for more kombucha and dessert!!!

This is the best 'slow food' restaurant with a lot of wonderful vegan/vegetarian foods. Great choices to be made when you're really hungry for. It's the best location to easy access to. We're very saddened this place is closed, BUT they said it will be open at different location in Tubac/Tumacacori. Please do go there and give them all your support to appreciate their effort for making splendid foods!

Realy, really good fresh food. Terrific service. A tad slow, so maybe not a lunch hour place, but a lovely place overall. 8?11/2015 update: I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY CLOSED!!!! WE ARE SO SAD.

Love this place! I am not vegan or vegetarian but I have obnoxious food allergies and they are incredibly accommodating which is refreshing! The food is very well done, creative- not "fickin" which scares me instead they make the vegetables, seeds, grains, etc shine. Their baked goods are to die for and are basically all gluten free and almost all egg free. They care about sustainability which is nice and organic farming. I am a big fan!

It's been interesting checking out fellow Yelpers' reviews. I was not aware of the ownership and community where most of the food comes from but am now grateful such a community exists so that we can benefit from their fresh and healthy offerings. Thank you! My partner and I enjoyed our meal and were very impressed with the entire setting. While we ate indoors, the outdoor patio and upstairs eating area were available. The architecture was gorgeous. We were greeted warmly by our servers and made to feel very welcome. I had the Warm Anazasi Heritage Beans with paprika roasted carrots, orange supreme, fresh dill, chili oil, cornbread croutons, and peppercorns. It sounded delicious but I must say I was a bit disappointed. It arrived only mildly warm and the food was rather bland. It really needs something else to spice it up. None of the favors popped out. Here's hoping they can redo this dish a little bit. My partner ordered Bibimbop Grits from Hayden Mills with black-eyed peas and she really liked it. I wound up eating more of her dish than mine. I LOVED the taste of those grits. Besides Avalon Gardens, some of the other local places they purchase their food from are Barrio Bread, Green Valley Pecan, Menlo Farms, River Road Gardens, Sleeping Frog Farms, Old Pueblo Mushroom Growers, Ramona Farms, and Patagonia Greens. It's a bit on the expensive side but worth it. After your meal, you can go visit Antigone Books right across the street. 4th Avenue World just keeps getting better and better.

I don't lead a vegan lifestyle but certainly not opposed to it. Food for Ascension does it right. I'm quite amazed at how much they do as an organization. For those that don't know, this restaurant is owned and operated by Avalon Slow Food Enterprises. Avalon Gardens was founded in Sedona but now operates in Tumacacori, about 30-40 minutes south of Tucson, as an Eco-village A fair amount of the produce served at the cafe comes from Avalon and they also have a CSA. It's quite remarkable! But back to the restaurant. It's beautiful and bright. The staff were friendly, knowledgable and so passionate about their food, it's endearing. We spent a fair amount of time chatting with our server and manager about the organization and learned so much from them. The entire menu is plant based cuisine with the exception of eggs. They truly serve good food. While on the expensive side (two cups of soup, one entree and tea came to about $30 with tip), I enjoyed everything I ate. They have lovely selection loose leaf tea and other beverages they refer to as "potions" on the menu. They even make their own kombucha! Served on tap. The black eyed pea soup was delicious. A ton of flavor and light broth. The calzone was ordered to share and I'm glad we did! It was a hearty portion served with a green salad. I was full and I ate half of my portion. I was too full to order dessert but it sure looked delicious! The peaceful surroundings, the lovely people working there, the clean food an their philosophy make for a five star experience. It turns out a portion of the Avalon gardens (situated on 185 acres) is on land that housed our family ranch. I couldn't feel happier to know that that particular piece of land is part of such a unique organization. I can't wait to visit the farm!

Place is amazing.. I walked in for lunch and I was astonished on how beautiful and zenlike the restaurant was. I literally felt all my stress get washed over just being in such an amazing space. If anything come here for the ambiance because it will win you over. Now, onwards to the food.. when you walk in you immediately see pitchers of Kombacha and tons of desserts that look way more appetizing than any other conventional desserts I've ever seen. I ended up getting a big bowl of their green chile gazpacho.. but heres the real kicker.. I was shocked when they charged me $12 pre tip for a bowl of soup. Yes, I understand all the veggies are local and all that good stuff.. but its almost a crime to charge that much for a bowl of soup. Yes I enjoyed it.. but seriously no soup for me next time.. because had I known it was going to be that expensive I would have opted for something with more substance. I'll definitely be back though to try something else.. but like I said it won't be the $12 soup.

We have eaten here twice and for the most part, we like it. Each time we have ordered something that we did not care for but the other entrée was good. Both times the service was a bit slow on refilling drinks, bringing the check but the food came out promptly. The last time we were here, we had the blueberry pancakes and they were fantastic.

I love the whole concept behind Food for Ascension Cafe. Organically grown, sustainability practices, & a lot of love skill go into the preparation of every dish. We had the spring rolls wrapped in broccoli leaves, the wonderful hand made gnocchi, sesame broccoli appetizer, the biscuits and mushroom gravy and a handful of their vegan gluten free desserts. Ok, I have to rave about the smashed potatoes with tasty succulent vegetables. We also had them with pesto , YUM! I am in love with this restaurant and the entire staff! You must eat at this jewel of a restaurant.

Love, Love, Love this restaurant!!! The food and service was amazing!!! Everything was organic and tasted as if it had just been picked from the garden. I ordered the bean soup and the gnoochi.. I never tasted anything so good!! I was full but I was tempted to order more. I'm only visiting Tucson for two days, but I can assure you I will be back before I head back to NYC. Our waitress was so sweet and offered great suggestions for our main course. I highly recommend this restaurant for those who care what goes into their bodies.

This place is amazing. As someone who used to love PB&J sandwiches I couldn't wait to try their version. When I arrived I was greeted by the host, who was very friendly. Service here is impeccable. I ordered the cornbread PB&J with the Turmeric Lemon tonic. The tonic drink was so delicious and refreshing. While waiting for my meal I was given a small sample of one of their soups. It tasted like a squash soup and was delicious. It complemented the rest of the meal beautifully. My actual meal arrived with a side salad which was also very good. The cornbread used for the sandwich was so tasty, and the apple jam was amazing! Honestly, I loved this place and can't wait to return. It has such charm, great service, and amazing food. I just sat in the corner enjoyed my meal and read my book. I didn't want to leave, but after over an hour sitting I knew it was time. I could have stayed there all day. You have to try this place!!!

Everything about Food for Ascension was lovely. I don't use that word often, but it's fitting to describe this vegan-vegetarian haven. I'm not vegan or vegetarian, but remembering a recommendation, and craving a light, fresh brunch, we made the trip over to 4th Ave. We walked through the blaring classic rock music of the Hippie Gypsy and were transported into a completely different environment upon entering Food for Ascension. The hostess was warm and friendly. The space was nice, and felt open even though it wasn't huge. There was a case of pastries and counter for ordering coffee. A half circular bar was near the entryway with loaves of fresh bread just hanging out in a basket on the counter. The side door was open to let float in classical music from a string quartet in the courtyard that was playing that day. I had to remind myself that I was still on 4th Ave for a minute. I ordered a chai tea, and we started with the pesto stack. It had a fantastic pesto sauce. It tasted fresh and had a little more garlic than usual--which I liked. The bread was vegan, and of a different texture than I'm used to, but it was tasty and filling. My date ordered the Sonoran Toast, a recommendation from our attentive server, and I got the Grilled Potato Pancake. Again, so fresh. While my Grilled Potato Pancake was good, my date won the meal with the Sonoran Toast: grilled bread, topped with eggs, beans and pico de gallo. Oh, that grilled bread! I requested more than one bite. While we were full, I really wanted to try the chia seed parfait. Decadent coconut cream on top of layers of chia seeds and berry compote was a sweet ending to a lovely brunch that I didn't really want to end.

It's more like a 4.75... the music is the cause for the -.25. As someone who doesn't eat a lot of meat, it's great to have delicious vegetarian options. When suggesting a place like this, it must deliver or the carnivores mock. Luckily, this place secured my position that food can be good without meat. We came in for a late brunch. The vibe is New Agey but not hokey (except some of the songs on the playlist made it begin to feel a little bit). There is rooftop seating, but it was a little too chilly to sit out there. I plan on doing a dessert/wine evening there soon! All of the food and booze met my sensibilities-locally sourced when available, high quality, and nice flavors. The service was very nice. It was an overall exceptionally pleasant late morning. I have plans to take out-of-towners who have extremely high standards when it comes to eating, and I am not concerned in the least bit.

I am SO sad that this place has closed. It was my favorite place to go in town for vegan food, and had by far the best vegan & gluten free desserts of any restaurant I've ever been to, ever! I've been to all the other vegan places in town and while they all have decent and sometimes even pretty great food, I think they all pale in comparison to Food for Ascension. So disappointed that my favorite place to go is now closed :(

I first walked into Food for Ascension Cafe 9 months ago, not to eat but to meet the players to let them know of a class I was teaching down the street. When I walked in I felt immediately welcomed. The place itself is beautiful and elegant. The energy is pure. I do not lead a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle, but I'm not opposed to eating that way at all. I am really looking forward to this experience. Making a reservation online was very simple. At 5:30 on a Saturday night the place was packed. I noticed at once they had a house Chai. I love Chai. The waitress told me it was the best Chai she has ever had. So after ordering it, I was very disappointed to discover they had sold out. So I thought outside the box and ordered a half coffee, half hot chocolate with Rose Water flavor. It needed more Rose. I asked for a sample of the cream of broccoli soup. I was unimpressed as it was not very creamy. So I tried the southwest 3 bean. Bingo! It was fabulous. A perfect blend of spices. I also ordered a half order of egg on toast and substituted the salad with the soup. The toast was the seeded loaf. Perfection! Unfortunately I was brought a whole order but I was told they would adjust the bill. I was going to the theatre next door, and allowed myself plenty of time. I never felt rushed. The bread was so good, I purchased a loaf for home. I'm mostly on a low carb eating plan, so you know it's something special. Can't wait to try it with cream cheeee, or almond or peanut butter. It's amazing. At the end of my meal, a woman walked up to me and asked if all was good. I told her it was, and i was delighted except for the chai. I wasn't thrilled with my concoction. She traded it out fir the Old Pueblo hot chocolate. Very nice. All in all an excellent experience.

I have had the pleasure of dining at this spot a few times over my travels this past month and for anyone living in or visiting Tucson, it is a must! From the hustle of the street, this spot offers you zen. The atmosphere - from the exterior, to the main dining room, to the roof top deck- is welcoming and calming. Art and music from local talent sets the mood and let's you erase the day and take in the moment - either with your own thoughts or with whom your dining with. Every menu item feels as though it was hand picked and made that morning. Perhaps because it was! I learned the ingredients are sourced from local farms, with a large percentage coming from Avalon Organic Gardens, a stainable, organic farm located near Tubac, with national recognition for their agricultural practices. (They offer tours and educational classes for those interested.) Do not skip the biscuits and gravy! Order a half order (but add a poached egg) so you may save room for the arugula and beet salad, sweet potato gnocchi, the pesto cornbread, and of course dessert. All created in house and most gluten free. Your sweet tooth will be salivating :) I'd suggest a truffle (lavender is my favorite) and the vanilla trifle cake. Oh, and put the ginger ice cream on something - anything! You'll need the barista to craft you a cappuccino to balance your palate. As for the service, the smiling staff is warm, welcoming and genuinely happy you are there. From your initial greet to the dropping of the check, you will feel as though you dined with friends over a home grown, healthy, gourmet, soul satisfying meal.

The food is so fresh! I had hashbrowns with roasted apples...so yummy!!! I accompanied it with a glass of house brewed kombucha. I also recently tried the tumeric ginger concoction (it might be tea? But it tastes more like a juice). It has a nice little kick to it. If you feel like eating something healthy and don't mind splurging a little this little spot is definitely worth it. Plus, they use local ingredients so you're supporting a great cause. I recommend going during the day when you can appreciate the rooftop seating.

Oh Ascension, I apologize for being so late in providing you with the kudos you deserve. I have been here over a dozen times now and I am no where close to being vegan/vegetarian. I do eat gluten free and this place has, by far, the best GF baked goods I've ever had. Now this is the place you go to in order to sit and enjoy your meal, beverage and ambiance. They will give you a to go order too but try to stay if you can. There's something magical and spiritual about this place. Seriously. The people there are wonderful, caring people. They move on "spirit time" in there so it can be a little slow but in a good way. They look you in the eye, smile, get to know you and respect if you have come there to work. I have sat there for hours working on various work projects and the creativity has just flowed through me. I have arrived stressed and left calm. I have had meetings with colleagues where we have arrived at great breakthroughs and improved work dynamics. Oh and The food...The food is extremely fresh and delicious. Other reviews here describe it in more detail. The drinks are simple, tasty and often unique. The staff will explain to you the various healing properties and benefits of teas they have. AND they make coconut milk lattes!

I was plesantly surprised to find such a nice vegetarian place in Tucson. I had a veggie burger and my boyfriend had the hummus and pesto appetizer. The hummus had a fantastic curry flavor and it was absolutely divine. The veggie burger was not the best I've ever had but still really fresh and good. The atmosphere at this place is very tranquil and unique. I highly recommend the restaurant for vegetarians and carnivores alike.

I've been trying to eat here for weeks and I feel like it's always closed... I finally got the time right and had dessert here with a friend on a Saturday night. We shared one of the brownies (perfectly heated) with vanilla icecream (coconut based... so smooth!!!) and coffee (delicious enough to drink black!). They were super busy when we strolled by but our outside table was perfect for savoring our sweet treat and doing a little people watching - prom season? I'm excited to come back and explore more of the vegetarian-friendly menu!

We were hungry and didn't know what we wanted. Then I saw this restaurant and the name intrigued me. Menu is quite different and fun to read. Ask the server, you will have questions. All four of us got different items and we passed samples around to share flavors. Yum. It's that kind of place.

excellent preparation of delicious, local ingredients. Service was warm and attentive. This place had food that makes you feel alive and the ambience was clean and comfortable, even for an omnivore. A great yelp find!

I just can't believe this place isn't in San Francisco. I've been here about twenty times now and each time I'm totally impressed with the service, selection, presentation, and, of course, the food. We even got my birthday cake from here for all of the people with dietary restrictions at my big party, and it was a huge hit. No one could believe it was gluten-free, soy-free, and vegan, and it was way more popular than the "normal" cake, which was not a crappy cake by any means. I have yet to have a shingle negative experience. Well, there was that one time my vegan "ice cream" was slightly crystallized, but they gave it to me for free, so I can't complain about that. The staff here are so friendly it was actually a little off-putting at first, because it almost seemed like they were Stepford-Wife-nice, but now I know that it's basically run by a spiritual community, so they genuinely practice loving-kindness as a business model. (I know, another reason this place should be in the Bay Area.). Dietary restrictions? No problem. Have a meat-eater with you? They are sure to find something totally satisfying for the most robust appetite, and nobody here will judge them for their carnivorous desires (though they still won't get any meat). I've taken a bunch of guests, and they have all been very impressed, felt very welcome, and left totally satisfied. It has become one if my top-three choices for eating in Tucson, and because the menu changes based on what is seasonally and locally available, I can't imagine that I could ever grow tired of this place. Words can't really convey how much I adore this gem. And now to get real. I don't know if it's my timing, the location, a marketing issue, or if it's just ahead of its time, but I am genuinely worried that they won't stay afloat. Very seldom has there ever been a crowd, and I've never had to wait. Some lunch hours find the place almost desolate. This place is a true treasure, and if I were a millionaire philanthropist I would bankroll the whole operation as a vanity project. Come on, Tucson! This is the first restaurant, in my opinion, that actually rivals landmark destination eateries like Millennium and The Greens in San Francisco - and it's in freaking TUCSON!!! Ahem. Sorry if that sounds a little desperate, but there are a lot of really cool places, so Tucson is a competitive market at the moment. Would I grieve if we lost some of our great, new, trendy restaurants? Maybe a little. But I'm pretty sure I'd go into a long dark funk if this place doesn't thrive. The innovation, expertise, and quite frankly, the morals of this place need to be supported. Go there! NOW! And take all your friends. They will surely be impressed.

This place is a trip, I love the fact that somebody finally did something with this sweet Moorish inspired building. The inside is done in refreshing simple colors and simple decor, a little hip meets earthyness. The service was friendly but not too, just about the right of service and leave ya alone. The real trip is that it is kind of a cult commune farm community down by Tumacacori run the restaurant with local ingredients from their farm and others, I love that! I had their pizza special that they made on a grill outside, the topping were fresh and vibrant, the crust was not. I had the Hibiscus tea, perfection. I will be back, and I am dieing to visit the farm.

Not really "plant-based" as they have eggs ... what! People are eating the menstruations of birds?! ... And calling it food for ascension. Also they serve some lacto milk cheese butter etc! Telling humans they go higher in vibration by stealing the precious life energy that was intended for the newborn animal yet unable to process it's food of instinctual design. Get the image aligned with the actions... Anyway they've got a lot of vegan options, and based on relativity, the place is quite good! When above matches the below, they will be actually great! instead of just relatively decent.

I've always had the best service when I went there. They always know what's want when I walk in, and they're all so friendly. Great food and drinks as well!

This restaurant is a treasure. It mixes the peacefulness of a yoga studio with the delectable smells and tastes of your mom's kitchen. Unless your mom made meatloaf. No meatloaf here. High ceilings and white light shining in through the windows gives you an impression of freedom and openness. The staff are always warm, competent, and engage with you to the level you seem comfortable with. Made with organic, local, and seasonable ingredients, the food is phenomenal. It warms my heart that this wonderful restaurant is a part of the Tucson community.

I've been in Tucson for a week, and this is hands down the meal I've had here. What a beautiful restaurant, amazing staff and food. Healthy and tasty vegetarian and vegan fare with local farmers and foods featured. Super fresh and delicious. I will definitely be back on my next business trip!

Great place, I go there often for a healthy lunch. Nice place for meetings and working lunch. The food is always amazing. I do wish they'd lighten up on the "have you heard about Avalon?" schtick. I am there for the food and lovely ambiance. Take my money and do whatever you want with it, but I am not interested in the creepy commune part.

I'm really impressed by this restaurant, and I can't wait to return. Vegetarian restaurants can be very hit or miss, but this is a real gem. First, the building itself is beautiful and peaceful, with an abundance of natural light, tastefully decorated. Second, the staff is delightful. Third, the food is all locally sourced, and you might even meet the farmer(s) like I did. I ordered three things: a soup, salad, and cornbread pesto stack. The salad tasted fresh-picked, and it was. Nothing complex with the salad, but salad that fresh doesn't need much: balsamic, pepper, and a little oil. The soup was a chilled collard soup, with other goodies mixed in: awesome! Last, a cornbread with a pesto topping, then locally-grown beans. Again, awesome. This is an excellent choice for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike, and I will not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to friends.

I have been vegan for 5 years and vegetarian for 8. So when I heard that there was a new plant based restaurant in town I had to check it out. The pricing for dinner was a little much for me at the time so I opted for the CB&J sandwich. If I wasn't limited by money then I would have tried the roasted mashed potatoes and creamed spinach, but I will have to write another review later about that dish when I try it. I chose the CB&J sandwich. It is a grilled cashew coconut butter and homemade jam. It was a super rich and tasty dish! I would say it was more of a kind of dessert because of how sweet it was. It was delicious! One thing that didn't exactly fit well with the dish was the fresh greens salad. I would like to have a side that is healthy and green but also compliments the main dish. The combo of the coarse fibrous greens with balsamic vinaigrette was like night and day. I could not eat both within a succession of the other. I like a dish that has a side that compliments and supports the main entree. Overall, I am super happy with my experience and look forward to trying more dishes on the menu! I am thankful we have such a special restaurant in the vegetarian/plant based food community.

I wish I could transplant this place in Phoenix! I simply love this restaurant from the amazing atmosphere to the heartfelt staff and the DELICIOUS food! My favorite dish is the seed burger. I love the complexity of the patty paired with the simplicity of the side salad. Greens have never tasted so good before I found Food For Ascension Cafe! The desserts are exquisite and one cannot go wrong with their choice! I promise that this restaurant satisfies the palette! I can't wait to go back again!!

My fiancé had been wanting to come here for quite some time and we finally made it here this past weekend. We sat on their rooftop patio, per my request, even though it was a little hot, I couldn't pass up the fun views and whimsy the patio had to offer. When our server came to the table, I was pretty shocked this was a vegetarian/vegan restaurant since, like I said, my fiancé was the one who suggested this place and he is quite the carnivore. However, clearly he wasn't opposed and neither was I! I started with a delicious and refreshing iced soy chai and chose the white and black chia seed pudding for my breakfast. Erik had the pan-seared potato-and-greens cake with poached eggs. Our entire experience here was so enjoyable-from the atmosphere to the service to the food; we will definitely be back for more.

Friendly staff, beautiful location but I think I must have ordered wrong. I got the biscuits and gravy and couldn't finish my meal. Not hearty enough to be either appetizing or delicious, which is a necessity for vegan/vegetarian food. The fresh steamed greens both smelled and tasted like pool noodle. Like inflatable pool toys. My boyfriend got the bean burger and I tasted that and it seamed much better although a bit dry. He let me finish his provincial bean soup, bless his heart. The biscuits in my opinion were trying too hard- dry and too many flavors. They would have been much better if it was a vegan version of a homestyle biscuit. However our appetizer of the sweet potato medallions was delicious! I will definitely try this place out again but I will go for something fool proof like Pesto or something. How can you mess that up?

I'm so excited Tucson is Waking Up to plant based nutrition!! Plant based foods, empower, nourish, cleanse and are delicious! It's just a shame there's not more healthy options for good high quality, fresh local foods. Ascension Cafe is a positive step forward!! The chefs and the people working here really care about people and offering good to elevate others & consciousness. The menu changes daily, sometimes multiple times a day!! They prepare food by season based on what they get from local farms a d growers. What a blessing! A restaurant that is feeding people how they are supposed to eat, by season, fresh, and local. They are supporting the community & I support them. Thank you thank you thank you. Oh yeah, the food rocks to. The creations here are world of art and simply amazing.

Tonight I have ingested the most delicious rueben and butternut bisque....I joined yelp simply to say thank you Food For Ascension Cafe. I enjoyed yoga next store and our class was invited to venture into a lemon tumeric land of plant based intention. My God how can words express the magic. Let me put it to you like this...I'm a carnivore and this meal nourishing my body as I write is one of the top five meals of my life and I got it to go! Everyone please eat here and experience exactly what it is: food for ascension. I can't wait for an east side location! May this local business flourish beyond their wildest dreams. The atmosphere is divine as well, please all enjoy.

Beautifully decorated, new, vegetable-forward eatery that will not disappoint you! I promise. I had the Broccoli and Pine Nut Grilled Pizza with roasted garlic, soft mustard cream, caramelized onions, lemon and balsamic reduction. I loved this dish, it was flavorful, filling and just right. My parents were very pleased with their dishes as well; Dad had the broccoli soup and wedge salad and Mom had the frittata and sweet potato biscuits. They both cleaned their plates & chatted about what they were going to order next time! This little place is super!!

Came to Ascension while visiting from Los Angeles and just had to stop in. Great atmosphere with a beautiful little outdoor courtyard and rooftop. The food was fresh, healthy, and delicious, with the artisan pizza and turmeric house fries being some of our favorite Nosh Time (happy hour) picks. The lemon butterscotch pudding with candied walnuts was a fantastic finish to our meal. Very friendly service and a lovely experience that rivals any veg spot in LA. Can't wait to come back!

Have intended to check out this performing arts venue and café for sometime. Was in the area around suppertime and stopped in. First impression of the Café is impressive- stylish and welcoming. Hostess, and server Jasmine were very gracious and welcoming. Interesting menu....I ordered the Lentil Veg Soup which came with a lovely artisan bake lavash type cracker. First spoonful revealed the fresh ingredients and that the soup had been made by chefs who cared about their recipe and those who would enjoy it. It was a food experience I've never had! The complimentary "amuse" was appreciated- creamy, handmade hummus with crackers and handcrafted carrots and mandolin sliced turnips. For my entrée I chose a cup of polenta...it was the absolute best polenta I've ever enjoyed with local, fresh artisanal mushrooms.....topped with a balsamic glaze. It melted in my mouth- an incredibly balanced flavor profile..... Reasonable prices; superb service. A great place to take someone to lunch and spend time perusing the unique menu. If you eat Vegan or Gluten Free- I'd imagine you'd think you'd hit the jackpot! Can't wait to return and enjoy some of the performing arts programs. Congrats for creating this wonderful culinary concept and making it's home in Tucson! Chef Jo

When visiting Tucson last week, I stumbled upon this restaurant after already having dinner. Although I was full, I had to go inside because the ambiance just seemed so beautiful, colorful, and inviting. I sat at the bar and ordered a cup of hot herbal tea. Enya-esque music played and I immediately felt more relaxed. It was like being at a spa- restaurant where the decor and food all seemed to be artfully crafted and well thought out, flowing harmoniously. The herbal tea had all these edible herbs and flowers inside which was tasty and exciting. I vowed to myself I would return the next day for their Sunday brunch. And so I did. This time I sat in a corner table and took in all the beautiful art, relaxing music, and friendly local folks. I ordered the deconstructed rosti, along with a decaf coffee and lemon turmeric tonic, all delicious! I was blown away by how many of the ingredients were sourced locally which shifted my thinking that eating in the middle of the desert, everything must be brought in from some place else. Although I live far away, if I was a Tucson local, I would be a regular at this unique, creative, warm and friendly, delicious spot.

Great food all around, even with 4 kids in our party! We tried the tomato small plate, the calzone, lentil soup, burger, roasted smashed potato, pan seared potato and greens with poached eggs - BIG flavor and no leftovers, except for the pudding ! Sat upstairs on the roof top patio and the view of the mountains during sunset was amazing. Great experience, except our dessert to go. The chocolate pudding was not kid friendly which nobody mentioned - it is a large portion and tastes like cinnamon and cayenne. The adults could not eat it either. :( That's the reason I took the 5th star away.

Just moved to Tucson and had seen a lot about this new vegan-friendly restaurant. So far I've visited 3 times, twice just to get grab and go treats, once for a sit down. I have been raw-vegan for 6 years and hoped that they would have something to enjoy. The food: The fig almond truffle with rum: needed more dates or oil. The rum was pretty faint and the almonds were on the chunky side. Kombucha: the tea they use is actually quite nice; for a house (homemade-style) kombucha was the vinegary type. A cup was pretty steep though-$5 for just plain. Sunday Brunch: the service was really quite lovely and the waitress was sweet, and very knowledgeable of the menu. I mentioned that I eat only raw, and was SUPER grateful that she knew what that meant. When I ordered a chia coconut pudding, she let the chef know; she came back to let me know it was cooked. I was bummed about the not-raw part, but very impressed that it was communicated. To some people I'm sure it doesn't matter, but it does to me so BIG KUDOS for that! The chef (I'm assuming it was Rani) offered a banana and honey shake instead. It was quite lovely, but pretty simple as far as smoothies go. The added citrus zest on top was lovely. Atmosphere: SUPER clean, thank you whoever designed it! The decor is pristine-lovely and the walls are well dressed. I sat at the cloth booth which was quite comfortable. Recycled wine bottles for glasses was fun, linens were upper crust, and fresh custom-bouquets were a nice touch. It won't be a regular stop for me, but I'm grateful that there is a place that has garden salads fresh from the farm, kombucha, and a staff that knows about vegan/raw/gluten free and is willing to happily dish up something that works for my diet. This could easily become the next place I have regular biz meetings.

Farm-to-table, vegan, organic...wow, that's impressive! Positives: The food was great! The ginger tea was delicious and tasted like a meal by itself. My husband loved his pizza, my meat-eating friend got the biscuits and gravy and was satisfied, I got the creamy polenta which had some great greens and pesto on the top, my other friend got the burger. We all liked our dishes a lot. There are loaves of bread that you can buy and take home--they look fantastic. Their desserts look good, but we didn't have any. The decor was awesome. It was trendy but not showy. I was impressed. Negatives: the servers were awkward. Another Yelper mentioned this, and I concur. It was just a little bit off and made me a little uncomfortable. Occasionally our server showed up with another girl behind her but never said why this second girl was there looking at us. I'm not clear on the actual story behind this place. I've read some things that say it's run by a cult, and that gives me pause. I'd eat here again once I resolve the 'is it a cult or not' question. If it is run by a cult, there are other places in Tucson that I will patronize instead of this one.

Yum Yum Yum! I am so happy this beautiful setting has creative people feeding Tucson! This is a jewel in the desert that deserves to be visited again and again. I have been there for lunch several times, always greeted by shiny, happy people who obviously love the idea of good and healthy restaurant food. The music also was well-selected; I heard selections of Singh Kaur's, a dear friend. My only wish....that there were more options to choose from. The menu seems a bit short and I hope there is an expansion of entrees in the future. We have never had room for dessert, so I suppose we could do that next time. :)

When I heard that another vegan restaurant had opened in Tucson I was very pleased. It has always been a puzzle to me why we don't have more plant-based restaurants like this. The food was deceptively simple tasty vegan dishes presented in an elegant fashion. My dish was a vegan take on biscuits and gravy substituting locally-sourced oyster mushrooms for the meat. I admit that I was tempted to pick up my plate to lick the remnants of the delicious gravy. It came with sauteed spinach that was prepared perfectly. Another plus was the delicious kombucha on tap. Although I brew my own I often like to see how other efforts compare and I was not disappointed. Decor was charming. Service was a tad slow but that was a function of the fact that my party had other plans for the evening.

3 stars because the food is great! But the service is so bad. They're definitely nice people but just totally spacey and not on top of the service side of the business. Very slow. Also we ordered a cup of soup and salad as an appetizer and all the sudden our entrees come out. We said great, but we ordered starters. And they said oh we are out of the soup. Well.... someone could have come over to let us know. Really??? Maybe if we just ignore them they'll forget about it. Ends up the kitchen had it all plated and waiting for us, but they're so spacey it just never got to us.

Absolutely amazing and truly inspired. Down to the smallest detail i observed careful planning. There was an orange rind frozen into the singular icecube in the drink. The plates and glasses were elegant and beautiful. The drinks were delicious, i got the coconut lime. The soup i started with was perfect and the pesto potato inspired me to create a bunch of pesto potato variations at home. This is my new favorite place to eat in Tucson. Many thanks to the crew there for your preperations, i definitely noticed.

This was a truly wholesome experience. From the moment you walk in the door you are transported to a zen oasis. Let your eyes feast on the beautifully designed, modern yet eclectic decor. The music and fresh flowers on the table really add to the serene ambience. The service was exceptional and the food carefully prepared. I loved everything this restaurant stands for. They are genuinely committed to the overall wellbeing of the world.

Don't be shocked, but everything about lunch at this cafe was PERFECT! The concept of healthy, locally sourced food is right on target. The decor, the service, the awesome tastes in our dishes - hummus, beet Reuben, potato cakes with poached egg, heavenly lemon pudding and excellent coffee - unsurpassed. Our servers were efficient, helpful and fun - thank you, Jesse and Jazz! We're in love with this place and so proud to have it here in Tucson.

I applaud them for trying to source their products locally, but unfortunately I found the food extremely bland and almost tasteless which was unexpected given what I felt were very high prices. The most outrageous was $9 for watery, flavorless potato soup. The service was also extremely slow. There were about 5 awkward waitresses standing around the register and everything was moving really slow. Slow would have been fine if they were actually spending some time to make something tasty, but unfortunately not.

My first visit to a vegan restaurant and I was impressed. All four of us enjoyed our meals. Mine was delicious! Gnocchi with mushrooms! Service was tremendous. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Refilled water glasses without request is such a pleasure. The complimentary radish and carrot plate was a nice touch and so fresh and flavorful. Well done!

Once I heard about this place and it's concept, I made immediate plans to have a solo dinner there. I was cheerfully greeted by the wait staff and was impressed w the pastry and fresh teas in the glass display case, the second I walked in. Because it was already evening and dark outside, the lighting set the entire mood. The decor is Tucson/Sonoran rustic with a touch of contemporary. It was classy. The menu was pleasantly simple, because the food is simple; a huge plus! I ordered the raisin rose tea (to die for) and the slider trio. Toasted open-faced rolls w butternut squash, grilled eggplant and marinated oyster mushrooms, along w a delicate bed of greens. I loved my waitress, she was happy, pretty and helpful. I can't wait to go back and try the pumpkin doughnuts and chai pudding. They are even in the works of brewing and tapping their own kombucha. Dang!

This really is as good as it gets. In a quick visit from veggie-friendly Seattle, we went for breakfast -- chia seed pudding and fingerling potatoes with pesto, out of this world -- and loved it so much that we went back a couple days later for dinner (cheeseless pizza, seed burgers and blossoming calzone, all delicious). The turmeric lemon tonic, raisin rose water and rum raisin coconut ice cream were excellent, too. The owners' back story is interesting: gvnews.com/news/local/co… .

THE SOUP....lots of veggies, but heated to the point of no return. No delicate tastes left. The Grits and Sauerkraut...no sour kraut...no warning. it was ok... If food has the life cooked out of it, then this is a regular restaurant, with alot of healthy marketing.

Outstanding, organic, local food. This is the type of restaurant where I want to spend my money. This is not a "head 'em up, move 'em out" type of restaurant. This is a place where you can feel the passion that has gone into to preparing the meals, a place where you can sit down, relax and feel at peace. Everything we had from drinks to dessert was incredible. I had a fresh and delicious salad of arugula, spinach, beets, onions and walnuts that came with homemade seed crackers and a vegan cream cheese with cranberries to spread on the crackers. Everything was perfect, and I'm inspired to make those seed crackers at home now. My husband had the luscious and thick potato cakes with poached egg, pico de gallo, and sautéed onions on top, and a beautiful bed of fresh greens was also included. He loved it, and his meal was enough for two people. Daughter had the sautéed mushroom, spinach and yellow bell pepper hoagie and salad special. The bread on which the sandwich was made was sublime and hearty. Absolutely tasty. My picky son had fried egg over toast with a side of fresh greens, and he really like it. My kids each had dessert, the heart-shaped, frosted cookie and the vegan and gluten free chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. Both desserts were phenomenal. This cafe carries wine, local beer, tea, coffee and myriad other creative beverages. What I thought was unique was that they had Kombucha on-tap. And, it was wonderfully refreshing. The ambience is tranquil and inviting and the outside patio, which has an upper deck, is beautiful. Food for Ascension Cafe is vegetarian and also has many, many vegan and gluten-free choices. The quality and care that goes into the food is obvious. As I began my review, when I go out to eat I am looking for quality, organic, as-local-as-possible food that is made with love. I want to eat food that is ethically and sustainably raised and also nourishes me. This restaurant meets all my requirements and I will definitely return.

Amazing vegan and gluten-free deserts. My favorite is the chocolate walnut date tart. Truly delectable! Also, for you pasta fans now offer a wonderful homemade egg-noodle pasta with locally-grown Sonoran White Wheat, no GMOs in that! How cool is that!

Thoroughly impressed by this place. The food alone is worth five stars. The people are equally spectacular. I think everyone I spoke with was the nicest person I've ever met. Well thought out menu. Not cheap but worth it if you care about where your food comes from.

When my husband tells me I need to write a yelp review about how good this place is, you know it has to be really something! The ambience is totally relaxing - visually beautiful with the choice of materials and art work, soft colors, calming eclectic mix of music in the background. We were seated fairly quickly although the place was jammed for lunch. Only two tables left, and we got the last one. A server came quickly to take our order, although we later learned she was not assigned to our area and thought we had been waiting too long. She continued to serve us through lunch, and was attentive, very friendly, and helpful - without at all being intrusive. The Hubs ordered their house made kombucha (he said it was incredible, tasting like a cross between a hard cider and a beer) and their root and seed burger. He loved the flavor of the burger -- very rich, with more flavor than other vegan burgers we've had elsewhere, but it was just a little dry. I had a mug of fresh ginger tea - and that's exactly what it was. About a spoonful of chopped fresh ginger in the bottom of a see-through mug with hot water poured on top. The ginger opened up over just a couple of minutes and the flavor was pure and just right. I had a half-order of biscuits and gravy. It was perfect for the first chilly, wintry day of the season. Total (vegan) comfort food, perfectly executed. The oyster mushroom sauce was thick, rich and peppery. The herbed vegan biscuit was flaky and flavorful. There were many other selections on the menu that were tempting, so we'll have plenty more to choose from on future visits. This alone would have made our lunch noteworthy. But we were blown away when our server came back to tell us that our lunch was being comped because the manager felt our wait had been unacceptably long. We hadn't even noticed, the wait -- such as it was -- was no more than we would've had in any other similarly busy restaurant. But they hold themselves to a higher standard, and try to make it right with the customer when they fall short. As you can imagine, we are now total fans. We will be back - and soon. And this review was approved by the Hubs. ;-)

Delicious food and great service. It;'s not cheap but about the same as other fancier places downtown. The food is organic, farm fresh and they manage to make vegan dishes so, so tasty which most places cannot. I really like the vibe in this place, the people who work there are really nice and go out of their way to make sure you are taken care of. This is going to be a regular place for me when I am in town.

SOOOOO delicious! The second we walked in the 'ascension' began. Embracing ambience, tantalizing aromas, very welcoming staff..a delight from the get go. It was a sunny fresh day so we went for rooftop dining complete with views, sunshine, shade and heaters. They served a special complimentary homegrown hummus appetizer and we ordered the bean burger. The food truly is out of this world and I highly recommend it for everything!

Adorable place, great healthy food and friendly service. I like kombucha and having it on tap was fun and refreshing. Certainly a welcoming vibe here, I would recommend a try!

Had time before my acupuncture appointment and was pleasantly surprised by a light but satisfying meal of root/seed burger & guava almond tart. Drinking silver dragon tea actually made me think of "eating" tea leaves on a tour of Hangzhou and Suzhou. The host at the door had told me about the art gallery, and so I went to check it out afterward. Even the architecture is impressive. Best part was my server Nicholas came up as I was crossing the street and presented my hat. That would have been the third one I've lost. Thank the universe for attentive staff.

This restaurant was a delightful find near downtown Central Tucson. The atmosphere and pleasant and relaxing, lovely waterfall outside with Buddha statue nearby the waterfall. The food was well-presented, the freshness of the ingredients was rejuvenating. I had the polenta with the fresh greens and my husband and I shared an apple crisp which was put together with all natural ingredients. While the menu may not be extensive, I recommend it for those who enjoy a break from beef and fastfood. The restaurant itself is affiliated with communal organic and so the products served in the restaurants, are mostly, if not all, organic.

I went to this cafe to get a cup of coffee and I was surprised to see how fancy the place was. The ambiance is really great and their staff is extremely friendly and made some really good recommendations. Their kamboucha (hopefully that is spelled right) is pretty interesting, they brew it themselves and have it on tap. This place is moderately expensive which is okay considering the service and the food is pretty good.

This is strictly a review of their food and not their broader organization. The food was wonderfully clean and fresh. Everything I ordered tasted like it was made on site or very close. So many restaurants assemble their meals from pre-packaged items. That absolutely doesn't appear to be the case. The restaurant claims that their food is locally grown and it sure tastes like it. I had the biscuit with jam and vegan butter spread as well as a sandwich made from artisan bread and fresh veggies. I also had a matcha latte with coconut milk. It was all great. Unfortunately they didn't have the vegan biscuits and gravy advertised on their website menu which is what I had my heart set on. It would be nice if they kept their website menu up to date but hopefully as they grow, this will be something they do. Their vegan food is awesome ]. The prices are high enough that it may keep some people away which is unfortunate.

The food was excellent! We appreciate the holistic approach of your community and the higher consciousness we all need to reach. Congratulations! Our concern with our visit to your Cafe is customer relations; we were not greeted when we entered nor did anyone say goodbye. The waitstaff have to be trained. To experience good service, go around the corner to the Goodwill Store; they have it down. Others on Yelp have also critiqued your service. Your excellent food and forward thinking beliefs are not enough to carry you. Customers must be attended to. Good luck. We will return. Thank you.

I dined here last evening to try the organic fare and and to listen to a lovely string quartet I knew would be playing. Both were exceptional. Can't wait to go back!

Yay! A new vegan/veg place in Tucson! And its so good! I had the biscuits and oyster mushroom gravy with greens today and it blew my mind! SO GOOD! They even make their own hot sauce which goes perfectly with this meal. A little pricey but that is understandable considering their ingredients are sourced primarily from local farms. I love this place and will be back soon!

I've eaten here twice, and the place is solid. The calling card is very very fresh, local ingredients. As one might expect, this results in a smallish menu. The food is good. It's not heavily spiced, and relies on the quality of the ingredients. Which works for me, but might not for the average yelper. Definitely vegan, hippie-style (veggie burgers, sprouts etc)--so be warned. If you like mainstream style of food this isn't your place. Decor is a little fancier than you'd expect, and the prices are reasonable for the quality. There are some interesting drinks like lemonade with turmeric and house made kombucha. The cafe is owned by a Gabrielian sect, but there's only a tad of cult atmosphere.

My partner and I ate here after a recommendation from someone working in a nearby store. It was absolutely wonderful. Great tea, great food and wonderful atmosphere. We shared a pesto pizza and a seed burger. The pizza is on the most divine crust. Everything is vegan with the option of adding an egg. I live in Phoenix but will visit this lovely restaurant every time I am in Tucson. Do your heart and mind a favor. Eat here!!!
