if you're a fan of the original el sur on 22nd and craycroft, you will not be disappointed by el sur asadero! this location is at swan and 29th. the same yellow coats the outside of the building, so it's hard to miss. they have a larger parking lot, which is good. they have a patio outside, right before walking in. they give you the option to sit inside or outside. we opted for outside! it was a nice spring morning and it was cool in the shade. the service is just as good as their original location, and the menu is exactly the same. they bring out their delicious salsas (red: hot yellow: mild (seriously the best salsa i've ever had. ever.)) and chips for you to munch on before you order. before you know it, the food is out and you've got a little bit of heaven in your mouth. i love all of their dishes, you really can't order anything wrong. if the original el sur is too busy, come check out el sur asadero! can't wait to go back next time i'm in tucson!

El Sur Asadero appears to be "El Sur 2." There is a great place on 22nd called El Sur; this is an extension. I wasn't able to find much on the Internet about it, but it has the same menu and prices as El Sur, and best of all, the food is the same or better! I came in on a weekday around 1 pm when it was pretty slow, and the waitress was totally awesome and nice. She even introduced herself and asked for me and my dad's names. Very personal service. I had a pork chop special (not like any pork chop I have ever tried.. it looked breaded. Delicious!) Came with the same awesome rice and beans I get at El Sur, and flour tortillas. My dad had a chicken fajita mix, which he devoured. There were free bowls of (out of the oven) chips and hot and mild salsa, and they also brought us optional onions and hot pepper. The ice tea was fresh brewed. After my 3 superb experiences at El Sur, this did not disappoint at all. I was surprised to find it listed on Yelp. To locate this El Sur Asadero, you just need to travel on 29th and keep an eye out for it. And oh, the lunch specials? $4.99 each. Unreal. One of the best lunch deals I have experienced in Tucson for large quantity and yummy food. I'll be going here again and again, if my waist line can contain it all!

The best part was the salsa, and the sour cream.. The waitress was slow and did not bring silverware or ask if we needed anything else. The food was cold. The rice had hard pieces. The tortilla was also hard. The food tasted decent, it just seemed like it had been sitting or something. Maybe it would be better for lunch. At least the prices were cheap.

We are Friday regulars at the first location on 22nd but that one is wildly popular and always packed so we tried the new location. LOVE! This is truly a gem. My favorite AUTHENTIC Mexican joint here! And don't get me started with the price. We leave this place spending 30 bucks for myself and my man with a big full belly and a buzz! Go here! Do it! That are both consistently amazing but this one is bigger and the ambiance is nicer!

El Sur numero dos. The menu is exactly the same as their home location. I am a little surprised how close they opened up this location to their original one. If you have an eye for colorful building, you can't miss the restaurant, which is located on 29th street west of Swan. Food here is very, very, (and one more) very good. They have many $4.99 daily specials to choose from, and they are available for both lunch and dinner! Not a fan of alcohol, but for those wanting a cold one after a day of hard work, they have nice happy hour options. Are you a fan of grilled onions and peppers and can only get it when ordering fajitas? Don't worry, El Sur will take care of your crave. After you get your plate, your server will come out with hot and fresh onions and peppers. If you want some, they'll put it on your plate. Totally delicious! A few minor things to note: chips were a little bland, but can be overlooked if you get generous with the salsas that are in the bottles. It's a little dark inside, and they can probably use a few more decorations to make the empty walls appear less empty. All that said, El Sur is a place for cheap and delicious Mexican food. Another great hole-in-the-wall joint in Tucson!

When you see a sign advertising $4.99 fajitas, what do you think? You should be thinking, "WOOHOO!!" or "Hell yeh!!". Cheap food and cheap drinks that taste good? Sign me up. Sure, the portions could be bigger, but it is really the right amount of food. The food isn't the most delicious that I have ever had, but come on... it is very good and VERY well priced. Update - I can't remember when it happened, but a year or so ago they bumped the fajitas up to $5.99. It is still a great deal though.

The menu and prices are the same as the mothership restaurant on 22nd. The exterior is brightly colored, just like the other one. The interior of this one is less crowded than that one. There is actually room to walk around. That being said, they have (just like the original location) what it likely the best lunch deal around. For $4.99 you can get a plateful of fajitas with rice, beans and tortillas. Their salsa is some of the best around. Top off your fajitas, tacos or burrito with that and you are sure to leave with a full wallet AND a full belly.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
