We have been going here since it was Cafe Bonita. The food is good and wait service is just OK. We brought the whole family and everyone enjoyed their food. We were a little disappointed with the fired ice cream. This has been getting smaller and smaller every time we come.

The wife and I eat here at least once a week. We love the service, salsa, and enchiladas with green sauce. Excellent.

Do not waste ur time. The wait time is ridiculous! I have gone about 5 times in the last year and wait on average one hour for my entree. This is when the place still has plenty of open tables. I am not sure why it takes so long. Food is nothing special.

This place has the best salsa. The best steak picado The new chimichangas . Just visit it's worth it. This is the "sister" restaurant to one in Safford that has been open for ages.

This is a sweet little neighborhood Mexican restaurant with very friendly servers, a menu with good variety, and a comfortable setting. I loved the salsa. Everything going for it, nothing super special, just a nice little place to enjoy some good Mexican food. And that's a good thing.

Had Taco Tuesdays for the first time. Yum yum! They were fresh, homemade and what a deal at $1.25 each. We had RJ as our server and he was wonderful!

My coworkers and I love this place. You've got to try the green sauce on a chimi or ground beef burrito here. The waiters are always smiling and pleasant, the chips and salsa are perfect, and the food comes quickly at lunch time.

Nice little mexican restaurant in rita ranch. They even have a billiards table and a full bar. The prices are good and the food is consistently good. They close at 9.

Holy Crap! Never again! Server had absolutely no menu knowledge and served food with unwanted items. He had a pad and pencil but couldn't get orders right. Restaurant was about one third full and the food took forever!! It saddens me that this restaurant has given my family and I so many poor experiences. Especially with the limited choices in Rita Ranch. Go to Rancho Rustico. They have better food and service by far!!!

We visit here about once a week and never a disappointment! We love the enchilada platters. We take half home for lunch the next day. We mix the mild and hot salsa and its delicious. Great and speedy service. See you next week!

We hadn't been to this location since the former café bonita occupied the space. Decided to give it a try rather than drive all the way to macayos for an always decent meal. We arrived on a weeknight to a nearly empty restaurant and we had a nice booth rather quickly. The service was below average even for Tucson standards. Can you say SLOWWWW? Food was OK, arrived hot anyway. I always dislike being held hostage after finishing a meal and having to wait forever for the check especially when there are maybe two other tables. We gave it a try but the drive time saved was wasted waiting on a waiter.

I believe this placed has changed ownership a few times since opening in Rita Ranch approximately 5-6 years ago. Over those 5-6 years, I have tried it about 1 time year. Their best attempt was about 3 years ago, but now this place is just horrible. I thought I would keep it easy and just got some nachos and a quesadilla. The nachos were lower quality than Los Betos (see picture) and the quasadilla had too much cheese packed in and wasn't even melted properly due to this. I'm not sure what other people see in this place as I'm yet to have 1 thing taste good from here all of my attempts. I am now drawing the line and will not be back.

I go to a El Coronado a few times because it's good food and especially Tuesday ($1 tacos) but today's experience was truly horrific. The service was terribly slow, the wait staff would "check" on us, and if we paused to look to see if we needed anything they were gone. Not to mention only about 3 tables were full, we were the only large party there. An issue had also arisen based on miscommunication and mishearing from a close table. The owner could not mediate an issue and instead put the blame on our table and left. If a small business owner is that quick to blame and take another opinion over listening and mediating an issue, (Even if it was a difficult situation), there should be a little more effort in a solution, instead of direct blame and leaving. I will never step foot back in the restaurant, and I truly will dissuade any young person to go there to hang out with friends, we are all better off going to Chuy's or any other restaurant in the area.

This is an ok alternative when I don't feel like driving to the south side for good food.. The salsa is good... However the service is painfully slow.. I've never been in at a busy time, honestly don't know how they'd handle a crowd... So if your impatient skip this place... You WILL WAIT FOREVER for your food !!!!!!!!!!! There food I'd give maybe a 3 but there service and wait time is a -2.. Because there was a table of 6-7 there when we arrived at the otherwise empty restaurant we waited 45 minutes for our breakfast burritos..... This was by far the most unacceptable visit to date... I'll be willing to take a drive next time !!

We arrived on a Friday at 5 pm to a nearly empty restaurant. The hostess pointed us to a table. We asked for a booth instead. She rudely told us she could not give us a booth on Friday night because it was for 5 people. The place was darned near empty. Because of her attitude we turned and left and will never return. Why do businesses let kids ruin their reputation? Seems to be a theme in Rita Ranch.

This is my go to place on the south east side. The food is good, not great, but always good. My favorites are the fish tacos and the green enchiladas, the chicken is quite good here. The real star of this restaurant is the salsa though. We mostly go for that. Plus they have a mild "kiddie" salsa that my nine year old loves. When I have a get together at my house I almost always call in am order for chips and salsa from El Coronado to pick up and people always love it! They have recently expanded and have more seating and a pool take, dart board, juke box and Mrs. Pacman game, so it's a nice place to bring kids. Also the service is always friendly.

This place is delicious. I try to come here as much as possible. The staff is very kind and friendly and the food is great while still staying at a decent price. I especially love coming here with the family after a hard days work. It is quiet plus the sangria is awesome.

My husband and I enjoyed the margaritas and I really enjoyed my food! The service was great, the food was inexpensive, and they had a really great variety for those who don't like Mexican food (kids and adults). The only thing my husband didn't like about the place was his taco salad. He said it was very bland, not much flavor and they should have used shredded beef or chicken instead of ground beef. However we went with a few other people and heard nothing but good things about their meals. I think this place is definitely worth a shot and I know we'll be going there again!

Salsa was flavorful and different, but should be served room temp for more flavor. It was very cold and the flavors didn't really pop in your mouth until it warmed up. The green chile chicken enchiladas were just ok. Nothing special about the chicken, but the green chile sauce was different...and not in a good way. It was very creamy and white with little flecks of green (parsley?) it sure didn't seem like chiles. The side of rice tasted more like Uncle Ben's Mexican rice than real, authentic Mexican rice. All in all, the service was great and the food wasn't bad, just not really that great either.

Reviewer RR must be the owner or an employee because this place has mediocre food at best! I only gave it two stars because the service is better than the food. I have eaten in once - meh on the food, good service Take out once - food was again sub-par, 10 minute wait - acceptable RANT: I don't know what the people that have opened the last two Mexican restaurants in this location think, but they must think people that live in Rita Ranch are idiots about their Mexican food or that we won't drive 20 miles to get a decent meal! If the owners read this: You are fooling yourself if you think you can stand up against the REAL players in the Mexican food biz in Tucson. Go eat at El Merendero, Mi Nidito, & El Minuto.....heck, try Los Betos. Their food is all better than yours and people will leave the area to eat it! I may give you another chance, but you may go out of business first.

I wanted to try this place because its close to our house and they advertise cheap margaritas. (Ok I know I am pregnant, but I am putting together a list of places to go post baby.) We got the standard chips and salsa on the table which I thought was decent. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and my husband ordered the chicken chimi. When the food arrived there weren't any sides like rice and beans but it was enough food for us. My husband said that it was the most chicken he had ever seen in a chimi but the food lacked flavor. The chicken wasn't seasoned and it wasn't anything special. The prices were incredible which is the only reason I can give this place 3 stars. Our bill was $16 for both of us.

A tale of two dinners. A couple weeks ago we stopped by and ordered take out. It was ready pretty quickly, tasted good and we enjoyed it. So we didn't think twice about going back in. Last night we went back to eat in. BAD IDEA. First, we were told we could sit any where. Well, there were no clean tables. We really should have walked out then, but we didn't. We pointed out the table we wanted to sit at and one server said go ahead, but we then pointed out it needed wiped off. Oh...I'll get it, he said, but then he didn't. The busboy did come out and wipe it off. So we sat down and were given menus. About 10 minutes later, the busboy came back and took our drink order and got us a couple beers. Well, it took about 20 minutes before the busboy came back to take our orders. The busboy hadn't gotten the order right so the server came over to ask hubby about his. The server was rude to hubby which didn't make matters any better. Now it wasn't that busy. There were about 8 tables in the 2 rooms with guests and 2 servers. The servers were running around looking busy, but not really achieving anything. Our food took another 20 minutes. It tasted fine and it was hot so the cooks are doing a good job. I wish we had tipped the busboy directly because he did a good job. We might do take out again, but I'm not sure.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
