Great Food, quick service, very nice owners and stuff! Their "Russian" bread, baked to order is very authentic and delicious. Try "to go" new addition of homemade foods, such as "pirozki" with cabage/beef , lagman -soup. Cold cuts are the best "New York style" quality. Very charming hidden gem.

I don't know what was going on when I came in....I've driven by here a ton of times and wanted to use them for a catering order rather than going to the big chains that I usually use.. The sign on the door said they open at 6..this was 9. I walked into a really dim shop with only a few lights on. The lights behind the counter were completely off as were the ones in the back portion of the shop. Really odd. The displays were a mess and I couldn't tell if they were even open or not- there was another couple already inside and I asked them if the shop was maybe closed...they said they had no idea. I waited for a while and no one came to serve us. I left and took my business elsewhere...

Last time I ate here I think it was a Quiznos, but saw the fresh ingredients sign, thought maybe I got Lucky... not so much. Menu is confusing, a lot going on and hard to read. I ordered the special- Pastrami w/ potato salad, drink is extra, my son got a baquette sandwich w/ pot salad and a strawberry smoothie (lg)... total was $27. I know right :( The order comes and they gave me coleslaw instead of potato salad, I was alright with that... the staff is helpful and tried to replace it. After trying it I thought I had made the wrong decision to keep it, but the potato salad was as bland as the coleslaw, no seasoning at all. Sandwiches were the same way, nothing special. The pastrami was watery, along with the sauerkraut the sandwich was soggy. My son can eat anything but was disappointed, his bread was borderline burned and hard to eat and said the sandwich was bland. As we waited for our food we tried to figure out the menu on the wall... the only thing we decided was that it needed cleaned, there are hand marks all over it. Another customer approached the counter and was greeted by a person out of uniform (we suspect it was the owner) she asked can I help you, the customer asked for a glass of milk, the owner said somebody will be with shortly and left the building, both our table and the guy next to us thought she should have served the lady before leaving or not have asked to help her. The lady had to wait awhile before another employee made themselves available to her. At those prices I will not return to try again.

This was one of my worst experiences in Tucson. The guy behind the counter obviously had no interest in food or service. The soup was microwaved out of a can. The bread bowl was ok, but the soup ruined them. Why would anyone stop here? For coffee and a bagel? I won't go back to experience such amateur food service. There are so many places with folks who enjoy and take interest in their work.

Breakfast near the airport. Espresso machine. The best you will get nearby.

I call this a work in progress. The bagels were not fresh actually. Tasted like the came from a wholesale bagel place that serves a lot of mom and pop places. The toaster must be defective. I got mine toasted and was not even warm. Coffee is average. But for cool Russian food market items this is the place. I wil try these folks again (been there 3 times for bagel in the morning)

Do not go here for food. A soup is $7 bucks? like who would pay $7 bucks for a soup. It is at least not worth the price, awful tasting soup. Had I known this I would never have paid, guess look up the prices before you buy. Coffee is ok here. Ridiculously high priced for such small place. They should not be cheating people in the name of small business.

The Eggplant panini with pesto, roasted peppers, eggplant and provolone was delicious. The side of cole slaw gets a solid "B".

I went to caffe nation on Valencia 3191 E Valencia #111 I ordered the chicken pesto panini. The employees were very friendly being my first time here I wanted to examine the menu and they were very patient. My sandwich was great and very fresh and filling. I will be back soon!

I went to Caffe Nation (Palo Verde/Valencia) and fell in love. When I found out that there was a sister location, I was very happy. This place is so good and the employees are usually about as friendly as they come. I personally cannot get away from ordering my usual ham, pineapple, and havarti panini with sun dried tomato spread on ciabatta because I can't fathom anything being as tasty. I have no regrets. The spring salad with passion fruit is a good side, as is the potato salad and the butternut squash soup (according to my girlfriend). The only down side is that, for the price I pay, I wish it'd be a bit more filling. Not everywhere is perfect. Also, the mango smoothies are worth having. Give this place a shot! Just don't come while starving...

It's a cute shop, but they screwed up my simple order. Soda was flat - bottled soda. Bag of chips was tiny. Sandwich didn't taste great, but I ate most of it. The staff didn't seem to have much of a clue what was going on and the owner was kinda surly. I probably won't be back... especially since every other place I went to in Tucson was amazing. This place was near my hotel and I drove by it multiple times a day every day for a week. It wasn't ever busy. That's usually a bad sign.

Great place if you're looking for Russian or Ukrainian snacks. Cozy seating with two televisions, Sirius radio, and various magazines available. Staff were very helpful and didn't try to BS when I asked questions about different flavors of Russian sodas. They allowed me to sample the caviar they had, and offered a lot of good advice as I haven't had much experience with Russian food. I ordered the beef and cabbage pierogis with a cup of Ukrainian borscht and enjoyed everything immensely.

I called to place an order for delivery, i work right next door to this place. I was never told there was a minimum order, so i asked for a bagel and cream cheese. This lady on the phone with a very thick accent basically snarled at me: "sorry, we do not deliver a bagel and cream cheese," and promptly hung up on me! I just could not believe it! Not very good customer service at all!

I am going right in the middle on this one... 2 1/2 stars. I round to three for the simple reason that the bread on my Reuben was toasted but not buttered so it was not overly greasy. Here's the rundown: Reuben - The thick sliced bread was toasted well, but not buttered. Works for me. Not greasy. The corned beef was kind of overpowered by the sauerkraut and the 1000 Island, which was kind of tart. It was just an OK sandwich. Ham and Havarti Panini - OK, so it's ham and havarti between two slices of bread with some grill marks. No style points. Red Skin Potato Salad - I was disappointed to find no skins in my red skin potato salad. The flavor was kind of sweet. I don't care for this type of potato salad. Ten bucks for the combo with sandwich, side and drink. A little pricey even if it's high quality Boar's Head meat. I think I'll pick up some Boar's Head and bread at the grocery store and and make my sandwich at home.

Eventually, I will have tried every reuben in Tucson, but here you'll find a contender for top honors. Lots of very lean corned beef, the right amount of cheese, sauerkraut and russian dressing, on bullseye rye. It may not be Nate 'n' Al's, but it's darn good! Pleasant folks behind the counter and an amazing array of strange, eastern bloc prepared foods on shelves, in coolers and a freezer case. A very pleasant surprise today was borscht. This was the classic version, served with a dollop of sour cream and some nice Russian rye. So good, your (babushka) would approve!

Opened a couple of weeks ago, so we tried it for lunch on Friday. Not good... I got a Greek sandwich: the blandest sandwich I've ever had. The chicken literally tasted like nothing and the texture was tough. The hummus on the bread made the texture a little bit better, but also had no flavor. There were a few olives, maybe 3 chunks of feta, and two pickles on the side, which were the only components with flavor. Service was good. The sandwiches were more than 7$ each, WAAAAY overpriced. We might give this place another try, since it's new and so close to work, but we'll see... So far, not impressed.

We didnt have a chance to order: the waiter/cashier seemed really unhappy to be working there on Labor Day weekend. After my gf placed her drink order, he ran up the total. When she told him we wanted to order food, he rolled his eyes! We told him we were probably going elsewhere. He shrugged and walked back into the kitchen. Aside from a couple sitting outside, the place was empty. Judging by some of the other reviews, it seems like this is a consistent theme for service.

Yummy! Coffee is awesome here smooth and not over roasted! I had the bread bowl today and the bread was divine. Before I had the #30 sandwich again bread was ah-mazing. I love the fact that they make recommendations. My husband and I are super pleased with this joint the food is great! I am dying to try the bagels but every time I go they are sold out. Don't worry though I am going to get one. This is definitely a good sandwich place with great ingredients and great coffee!

I love this place and come often. Irina (the owner) is a sweetheart. The rest of the staff is usually on point, sometimes not so much. Seems to be a lot of turnover, but the ones who stick around are nice. Foodwise, they have the best veggie sandwiches around. The portabella mushroom and eggplant sandwiches can't be missed. The breakfast sandwiches are also awesome and reasonably priced - they don't even charge us extra for adding avocado! Bagels are awesome, banana cream cheese is my favorite. Coffee is good, mochas are good. The only bad thing I've had is the tomato and red pepper soup, which I'll echo another review to say it tastes undeniably store bought. And the music...the music is terrible. Like, muzak versions of Billy Joel songs. Literally probably the worst music ever made.

If you want true NY style bagels, they have them here! They are fresh and delicious! The cream cheese is whipped and fluffy too...just like a NY deli! I love the breakfast sandwich on a bagel. Eggs scrambled, tomatoes and a choice of breakfast meat. made fresh when you order. There is also a deli counter to get Boar's Head meat. A nice addition and very high quality deli meats. The coffee drink and iced tea selection is extensive and delicious! I have yet to have a drink that I did not like. The blended coffee drinks are especially delicious! We do sometimes have a decent wait because there is usually only one person working. Of course it is worth it to me, since the food is so yummy!

This place is horrible! The lady behind the counter, offered up the soups they had, but mentioned that she was taking the chili home so that wouldn't be available. I ordered the chicken courdon bleu panini, and the beef barley soup. I only went with the beef and barley because she kinda steered me clear of the clam chowder. Not sure what that was about. I'm not really sure how the courdon blue is supposed to come because I had never had one before, but mine was toasted on the outside, with a sad excuse for cold ham and chicken sliver, and come to think of it no cheese. If there was sour cream this one missed it. The only thing that this dish had going for it was the dijon mustard. It was nasty! The beef and barley that I got ended up being the chili that the lady wanted to take home, so not sure there either. My friend got a chicken pesto sandwich, and roasted red pepper and tomato soup. The sandwich didn't look that bad and she said it tasted ok, but the soup was nasty, not to mention barely warm. The portions were ridiculous for the $5.99 they wanted for this sad meal. I would say steer clear of this place. Its also worth mentioning that the music was obnoxiously loud & HORRIBLE, and since the TV's were on I was watching the people move their lips because they had the volume off and no sub titles. This was a poor experience, and thats too bad for a first time one.

Super friendly staff, great customer service. The croissant sandwich I had was good and the coffee I drank was also delish. I work nearby and its a great place to stop for an afternoon pick me up!

I went to this place since it was new and seemed like a local business and had to do my part to help local businesses. I believe the lady's name was Nora, she suggested the BLT and I must say that I had one of the best BLT's in Tucson. The bacon was thick and crispy, and the veggies were crisp and fresh. The potato salad was good and smoothies are not bad at all, best part was they were not too busy since they were new so I was in and out. I'm looking forward to going back again!

I ended up going here because the line at another place indicated a very long wait. CaffeNation (which now appears to be signed as CN Bistro) was almost empty. The service was prompt and polite, and the food was ok. The coffee was ok. The menu was very large, printed with small print, and moderately confusing. I would go back again if I were in a similar situation, but It's not somewhere I'd take out of towners to impress them.

Service with a sneer So many things are on the border of being right with this place, but it just doesn't make it. They have lots of locally made products, like the bagels. There is a huge selection of items, and they had outdoor seating, which I always see as a plus. They also have Boar's head deli meats which are pretty good. the flavor profiles are fine, but the counter person was just down right pissy. He was obviously dismayed that we came in and ruined his afternoon by, God forbid, wanting a sandwich. After we spent 10 full minutes behind the only other customer who was getting a coffee drink and was obviously a buddy of his he finally deigned to wait on us. When I commented that I believed that he had put the wrong kind of salami on my sandwich he was an...well not nice person who had to try and show me how wrong I was. If this business wants to succeed they have to fire this kid. He's awful. (If he is related to the owner he needs to be disowned. ) The food flavors were fine, but the portions were minuscule for the price. I have seen school lunch programs that put more meat on a sandwich. It is hard to order because the signage is completely convoluted. You can honestly spend 30 minutes reading the menu board and signs. It is overwhelming. The lighting is sepulchral, which is good because the entire experience made me want to curl up into a ball and die.

I can't say that I'll be back any time soon. My "homemade" roasted red pepper and tomato soup tasted just like the kind you buy in the box at the store. Maybe it is homemade and they just try really hard to make it taste like it came from a box? The bread bowl, made of plain boring white bread, wasn't toasted so it just soaked up the soup and became a soggy mess. I could have had the same effect by pouring the soup over a couple of slices of Wonder Bread. My dining companion's sandwich bread was crusty and dry though she did say the other ingredients were good. The service was moderately friendly - just enough not to be rude. Overall the food and service was below par on my scorecard.

My friend and I had lunch at the new location on Grant & Swan yesterday. Pretty sure I ate the most delicious BLT of my life. Thick bacon, fresh tomatoes with a flavored mayo, soooo yummy. It was so good I'm thinking about going back again today :) The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was delightful. My friend and I really enjoyed it.

I think my review is about 2.5 stars actually. I have been there several times in the last month and each time I have had a few positives and a few negatives. My last visit, however, involved a negative customer service experience (which I have not had before) and I feel it will affect my returning to the bistro for awhile. Here is what I can tell you from these visits: The food is ok to good. I would give it 3 to 3.5 stars. Overall the sandwiches are tasty and fresh but nothing to write home about. The bagels are real good - the fresh veggie cream cheese was yummy. I am an ice tea drinker and they serve brewed Arbuckles tea (brewed is always a plus for me). They have several flavors each day but the taste is inconsistent. Some are great and others seem very weak. I cant determine if it is the tea they use or the preparation. My lower overall score came from the service. The first few times it was the waits - I felt like I waited forever several times and they were really not that busy. They seem to have trouble handling multiple orders at a time. If I am the only customer - everything is fine. Finally, the last time I was there they had a girl on register who really gave me a negative vibe. She seemed unhappy to be working period. I placed my order - sat down with my tea which was all ice (I hate that) and waited for my to go order to be made. I waited and waited (which I expected) and then when the order was ready went to her for a tea refill. She promptly told me that they do not give refills on the tea (which the past 3 times I was there I always got refills and no one said anything) but she would do it this one time. She made a very big deal of topping off my glass of ice and handed it to me rudely. Waits I can handle - this I cannot. When I leave a restaurant like this - I never want to return unless the food is exceptional. Caffe Nation is not that exceptional so I doubt I will go back. Time to try the Korean BBQ next door.
