Possibly the world's grumpiest people work here. Not friendly and a little rude. The subs taste was not affected by their offensive personalities though.

I have been here several times during my 10 years of living here in Sedona. I have been in the Service industry for decades. I know what to look for, what to watch out for, appearance of employees % Food, How much eye contact between the Sandwich maker & the customer, how complaints are handled & how management deals with everything. Sadly I have been let down more times than I have been pleased. There have been often times where this subway have ran out ingredients & sometimes even bread. The apologies where their except for management. I have always been happy go lucky until their inferior manager steps up to the plate. Normally the Manager is the one who is in charge of Damage Control, resolves a customers concerns & sets the tone for his employees. There were 3 instances where the Store Manager was Rude, non apologetic, was not professional to me or my two boys whom were with me, But most importantly, he was like this in front of customers & his employees. Make sure they have ingredients before you waste your time on poor ordering. Please look through my reviews for other businesses, so you see that I am a generous reviewer when it's deserved. This is my first bad review, as it is deserved

We visited this location despite the bad reviews. Our experience was drastically different! Service was great! The employee that fixed our sandwiches was very sweet and friendly! She even apologized for having to heat the oven baked chicken for my spouse's sandwich. We said we'd rather wait 3 min for a fresh sandwich, so no problem! For the first time, I saw fresh baked cookies in the cookie bins! Whuuut!?? So we bought 3! Yummy! I got a Tuscan Chicken Melt on garlic bread and it was delicious. We visited on a lazy Wednesday afternoon.

Not sure why all the bad reviews. Maybe they are under new management, but the service was great today. Best of all the cookies were fresh and soft. Yummy!!

This place is fine. It is a little hidden if you've never been there. It is in that big shopping center sort of in a tangent lot. It is in a tangent lot furthest from coffee pot road closest to that main road (forgot name) if that makes sense. I went at about 8 on a Sunday night. Not many people there. Was not graciously welcomed as some complained about, but it's Subway, I can live with that. The place looked very clean. They weren't super skimpy with veggies. The woman who was acting as manager that night didn't have the friendliest/jolliest morale and I know that can be contagious. But overall, they were not rude, not especially friendly. It's Subway though, that's ok. If I had gone to this place without reading reviews first to scare me, I wouldn't have thought twice about the establishment.

Ok, Franchise fast food. But I always thought Subway was better than other grease burgers... I went there when I visited Sedona last week, and some of the things they were doing, made me wonder how this place hasn't been shut down by health department yet. If you have speed serve line with fresh vegetables, you should be extra careful, right? It started with my soup... I ordered soup, since it was cold outside. The "lady in charge" scraped crusted dried out bottom of the pan of what it used to be a soup, added tap water, and used same cup to pour chunky mix into and put it in a microwave. Then, she ordered another guy to bring a new pot. If it was me, I'd throw away the crusty and just gave me a new soup... But anyways, he brings out ice cold soup and put it in a warmer. Last time I checked, you're not supposed to reheat cold food in a steam table because it'll take forever and that is a potential hazard. So, she corrects him, which is a good thing, and tells him to run it in under a hot water to thaw them out. At this point, I was ready to walk out but my husband had a sub coming, so I kept my mouth shut. She then comes back from back area and started to prep his sub. That was when I had to say something. The whole time she was messing with soup, going back and forth from front to kitchen, she had the same gloves on. I don't know what she touched or did when she was back there. So I asked her to change her gloves. She gave me a dirty look and asked if we wanted new sub. I figured it wouldn't make any change anyway, so I said it's ok. At this time, she already forgot about the crusty soup in the microwave. I was going to tell her I didn't want it anyway, so I just walked out of the store. She's lucky Sedona is not in Maricopa county, otherwise I'd call health department on her...

My family and I are on vacation in Sedona for the week. After a morning of hiking we took our family, about 10 of us, to this location. While there ordering, the manager kept saying hurry up and get them out of here, we're busy. I was shocked at the lack of customer service at this location. Needless to say we won't be going back or recommend it to anyone else.

Lol :) The other reviews about this restaurant are spot on...! Basically, the staff would prefer not to even be working, so that is perfectly reflected in the appearance of the restaurant, the attitudes of the workers, and the sandwiches they make. My recommendation would be this: If you are craving a good subway-style sandwich, take 20 minutes to drive to Cottonwood and go to Blimpie. The Blimpie in Cottonwood is fabulous. MY EDIT:: I forgot to mention, the Subway in Village of Oak Creek, in my experience, has always been a world apart from the Sedona store, for whatever reason. The restaurant is clean, the staff friendly, the sandwiches good... Just what you should be able to expect at the Sedona Subway, but alas, will never experience in this lifetime. That's all.

Service was fine - courteous and professional. Fresh ingredients. Modest cost. Been here several times when all I wanted was a quick, tasty and inexpensive sandwich, and I am sure I will be back.

Absolutely horrible experience. Rude staff, slowest service I have ever see, Horribly rude manager. SHe was yelling at an employee when I walked in, and later barked at me. I left before they even finished my sandwich. I will never go here again.

I should have listened to the other reviews. The customer service was so bad here, it was unreal. They obviously did not want to be at work. One of the girls kept rolling her eyes and checking the clock. Neither ever smiled and they were not friendly. If you can't handle working with people, please avoid working in customer service.

Came in because we didn't feel like spending an arm and a leg for a simple dinner since we weren't too hungry, and we know exactly what to expect at Subways! There was a rowdy family before us which the 2 sandwich artists :) were handling very well. I have to say, the service was a bit slow but we noticed that the gentleman helping us may have had a disability and we're on vacation, what's the rush. He made a mistake w/ ringing us up but the girl that worked w/ him was very patient and helped him resolve the issue. Our sandwich was made just the way we like it and tasted great! We'll be back the next time we're in town! :)

The service was not up to par, the organization was completely lacking and the cashier needs a HUGE amount of training! The two employees working there looked lost the entire time! Customers were waiting to order and they had to wait while we picked our toppings and [paid for our meal. The girl working there seemed to be unable to make sandwiches and the guy making sandwiches seemed to be unable to do anything other than that! The ingredients were fresh and the bread was good, but this is the first time I have seen someone cut the sandwich, then move each half to the paper and roll it up without the preparation sheet. Either way, we got what we wanted and didn't have anyone in front of us, so it wasn't a big inconvenience to us, but I wouldn't recommend waiting in line, if you are low on patience or time. And check your receipt!! She charged us for an extra drink and then recharged us the correct price before we had to ask her to refund the first sale. Ugh!

I never expect anything great when eating at a subway. However, the service was extremely slow and the vegetables in the case looked very old and withered. All flavors o iced tea were empty and the soda didn't taste right. Subway is a good cheap Sandwich shop, but I wouldn't recommend this location.

This Subway was filthy!! Every table was covered with trash and food. Floor was also filthy. The sandwiches barely had anything on them! We had to take our food back home to eat it was to dirty to eat there.

My family and arrived here at 9am inthe morning to pick up sandwhiches for a road trip/ pic nic in Grand Canyon. The staff is friendly. Food is fresh. Remember your on vacation and its a relaxed atmosphere. I am from the San Jose, CA and used to FAST service, busy and crowds. so it was nice to have a change in fast paced life. Over all we loved our sandwhiches

This is the worst run Subway I've visited in the past 20 years. Incompetent, poorly trained, unfriendly staff and no manager on duty to address these problems. Problems during my visit started with the surly greeting. There was no "Hi, welcome to Subway!" or "How may I serve you?" like I'd expect. Instead, the lead sandwich maker glared at me and rasped, "You wanna order or keep standing there?" Next, they were out of my choice, meatballs. "You can wait 30 minutes for us to cook them," the grumpy woman said as if she were offering me a genuine choice. In a well run Subway the staff would have noticed they were running low on meatballs earlier in the shift and started preparing another batch ahead of time. The final proof that this is a lame restaurant came after the cashier made a mistake in totalling up the order and couldn't fix it. Why? Because it'd take a manager to fix it and there was NO MANAGER ON DUTY. "You can come back tomorrow, when the manager's here, and get a refund," the cashier offered, again as if she were presenting me a real choice. Note, it was only 1pm at this point. How can there be no MOD? When I worked in restaurants it was always a strict rule that a manager be present when the store's open. There was ONCE I saw a MOD leave the store for a 30 minute break. He was FIRED for that. The manager here needs to be fired, too, and replaced with someone who bothers to show up for work and can take responsibility for re-training or firing incompetent staff.

My vegetarian sandwich had two small leaves of spinach and one slice of tomato on a stale (yes, stale) roll. That, and poorly staffed by folks who don't have a clue what to do. Long, confused wait. Limited selection (they didn't bother to fill the containers and bake fresh bread, or were out). Has to be the worst in the West, if not the country. Don't suspect they have ever been inspected by the franchise. Horrific does not describe the place. Avoid

He service here was a pure disgrace. I was not expecting eye rolls and employees that viewed me and everyone else in line as a hassle instead of a customer. The girl working here was very rude to me. tYe older man working with her was pleasant and did his job, but the service was quite slow and the system they have set up was not working well here. I have never been to any Subway that was this slow or treated the customers so horribly.

  • J W.

Ridiculous. The person making a sandwich didn't listen well at all. I was perfectly willing to ignore that, but her snide remarks caused me to cancel my order. I don't expect a person that is proud of making sandwiches for 8 years to realize that stating it excuses nothing.

  • Elaine S.

Although some other reviewers have commented on unfriendly staff here, I wouldn't say the service is unfriendly so much as it is slow. We came on a weekday evening and chose Subway for dinner because we were rather in a hurry, and there were two guys behind the counter, but only one making sandwiches at any given time, despite the fact that there were several customers waiting in line. Our sandwich artist was friendly but trying to make sandwiches for different customers at the same time and multitasking in a way that was not helping him get people out. Well, you could tell he was trying. And our sandwiches came out just fine.

I don't know why this Subway has bad reviews. I was greeted very kindly, had a young lady who was very nice to me, and they made the sandwiches very fast! The service and food service was amazing!

Miserable fucking place. I generally like Subway, but this Subway sucks ass. I stopped there yesterday afternoon with my baby daughter, eight year old son and husband. We were gonna get three subs to-go and go picnic over in Oak Creek Canyon. Sounds pleasant, right? Too bad it was anything BUT pleasant. As soon as we walked in I noticed that it was SWELTERING in there. The AC was obviously out and I understand that kind of thing happens, so I'm not deducting any stars for that at all, in fact I felt bad for the employees because of it. It was the rude female employee who set the tone for our whole shitty visit, and who cost this Subway ALL the stars on this review. For starters, she refused to utter more than ONE word to us when we placed our order, and that one word was: "Bread???" That was it. She gave us a sweaty glare, clearly angry because the demands of her bread getting responsibilities were obviously too much for her in the sweltering heat. Seriously, that was all she had to do; GET.OUR.BREAD. It was a more aggreeable heavyset younger guy that asked what kind of sandwich it was supposed to be and who put the appropriate toppings on our sandwiches. He seemed pleasant enough, even trying to make lighthearted jokes about the God awful heat. (Too bad he has to work with such a hateful woman.) There was also a managerial looking guy in a button up shirt that was also behind the counter, running the register, but he seemed worthless because if he actually was a Manager, he should have yanked Ms. Bitter Silence into the back and told her to lose her fucking attitude PRONTO. So between telling Ms. Bitter Silence what kind of bread my son and I each wanted for our sandwiches (6", white...pretty straightforward) and turning to my husband who was standing RIGHT NEXT TO ME, she somehow managed to screw it up and skip over my husband and directed her 'bread specification demand' at the first person in the family of 8 that had walked in right behind us....!?!? So not only was she rude, but she was incompetent too! Anyway, because my husband is far too polite to speak up or risk making a scene by pointing out what she did he ended up walking to the back of the line (again) behind the huge family and waiting all over (again) to get his food. So now I have already paid for my sub and my son's sub, and gotten a fountain drink, and scooped up the baby in her carrier, and I still had to stand there, in the sweltering heat balancing my 25 lb. daughter in her carrier (HEAVY!), and a large fountain drink and a bag with two subs, and my purse...waiting because my husband STILL hadn't been served. Fucking annoying. So then as my son is taking a drink of the fountain drink he manages to spill it all over the table next to us. I'm not a screaming doucheweasle who leaves a mess where I make it, so I decided to clean up the mess he made (although ALL of the tabletops were already dirty so I could have walked away with a clean consience) I decided to look for a napkin to clean up the mess anyway. Hmmmmm...none in the bag with our subs (that's curious), no napkin dispenser at the drink station, or at the straw and drink lid area, or in front of the cash register. In fact there were NO napkins or napkin dispensers to be had anywhere! So I tell my husband who's now standing back in front of Ms. Bitter Silence that we needed napkins and he asks her for some, and in reply she snaps at him "They're in front of the register!" O_o Really bitch??? At this point I don't care if they are 4" from my fingertips, you are being PAID to provide customer service and you've failed miserably already in three or four different ways; now you can't even HAND us some napkins?!? So I snapped back directly at her that there weren't any napkins at the register and she stomps over there to prove to me that I am wrong, only to discover that SHE was wrong, so she grabbed a handful of napkins from somewhere in the back and shoves them at me without muttering a single word. But wait! There's more!! Within 1 minute the mom for the family of eight has to do the same thing when they sat down to discover that they too didn't get a single napkin in all of their bags either. (WTF? Is the Subway doing napkin rationing or something?) So that mom also gets the 'handful of napkins angrilly shoved at her in stony silence' drill too. I overheard her turn and comment to her teenage daughter that this employee"...wasn't a very happy camper". Ummm, yeah THAT'S what I meant too when I summarized her into one word: BITCH. So, Subway franchise owners this woman you've got working there is a real customer service disaster. I suggest you fire her ass before you lose anymore customers. I will definitely NEVER be back. And if (God forbid) she *is* one of the owners then good luck with your dwindling business traffic because of your shitty attitude, bitch.

One of the worst, perhaps THE worst Subway I've ever patronized. Our last visit which was last month put the death knell in our desire to continue as customers. My wife and I have noticed that they were getting skimpier and skimpier on their ingredients. Their finished sandwiches are a far cry from the advertising posters plastered all over the place. I'd like to tear one of the wall and say "I would like my sandwich to look like this one!" but they would probably charge for extra meat, cheese and vegies. Overall I like Subway for their healthier options than most fast food places but this one, which happens to be in my hometown, is deplorable. Gladly they finally remodeled it so it's a little nicer. The employees are forcefully "friendly" with their obligatory "Welcome to Subway" greeting. I would much prefer a sincere smile with some semblance of joy for having a job, albeit not the best one. My wife and I prefer the store in the Village of Oak Creek for the personnel but even they're going light on the ingredients. If you want an excellent sub while visiting Sedona go to either Basha's or Safeway deli counters. They're not much more than Subway, offer a much broader variety and use superior quality cold cuts and cheeses..

I've been eating subway for years, and I don't think I can ever eat at another one. My experience here has ruined every other subway for me. I've gotten used to the ones in VOC and Cottonwood with their sub-par service and rock hard bread. I didn't even know it was there as it was skillfully hiding behind the Indian restaurant like a ninja. I walked in and received a friendly greeting from a lone worker who was already doing 3 other sandwiches. I thought for a moment about walking away, but I figured that I had an extra 15 minutes and I really wanted my meatball sub. I watched in awe as the lone sandwich artist speedily, skillfully, and neatly prepared the sandwiches of the people in front of me. He even putt veggies on two different subs at the same time ambidextrously with each hand topping a different sub with fluid grace. (I think he was showing off) Before I knew it it was my turn. He had my sub made, and wrapped in under 4 minutes from when I first walked in. If that wasn't enough when I took my first bite it was heaven. The bread was so soft, and meatballs didn't have that scorched taste that I had become accustomed to over the last few years. I'll never go to another subway again unless it's this one.
