We live in town and had not been to this restaurant yet so we thought we would give it a try. The margarita that my companion ordered was amazing (so she said, I don't drink tequila) and the wine recommended by the waitress was quite good (thanks Mary!) The service was excellent. The food while good, was nothing that blew me away. They start you out with some salsa and a small (more like miniature) little roll type thing, it was really good, the salsa was amazing, but you wanted more of the chip/roll whatever it was. We had an appy of Southwest Shrimp which was tasty and a good size but at the end of the day it was $13 for 6 shrimp, it comes in a bed of lemon grits, which frankly was just odd. My companion ordered the citrus swordfish ($28), which was not the steak type, and she proclaimed it very good, I took a bite and it didn't do much for me. I had the NY strip ($30), it was cooked properly and tender, the demi-glace sauce was nice. It was quite a large piece for an upscale restaurant, which was good because that's what you get. Your entree period, no sides, no salad, nothing. Yes, the steak did come with a few peppers slices and some onion slices but that was it. The swordfish was the same in a puree but nothing else. There is not even an option to order any sides (how about some fresh stuff like carrots, asparagus or something?) I understand the entree is the main thing in the chef's mind, but really...NO sides offered? All in all the atmosphere and the service were the stars, the food was certainly good, but I didn't put it in my mouth and so, oh wow! Which at these prices (2 dinners, 1 margarita, 2 glasses of wine for me, one for my companion $125) I would have expected. If we had had nothing to drink the two dinners (protein only remember) and 6 shrimp appy would have been $71, so for that I want to at least say...mmmmm that was really good! There are lots of very good choices in Sedona and the VOC, (Lisa Dahl's many restaurants, Andrea DiLuca has a new place, the Schoolhouse is open now in VOC) so I doubt that we would come back here.

HiA wonderful mix of Southwest flavors, Saltrock was a delightful and delicious experience. My husband and I enjoyed both lunch and dinner there while staying at the Amara Resort and Spa in which Saltrock is located. The handcrafted cocktails were unique and what you would expect from a trendy mixology bar in an upscale city. I especially enjoyed the guava ginger. The food at both lunch and dinner was both well prepared and had unique Southwest flare. For dinner we enjoyed the corn soup and fried yucca to start, followed by the beef barbacoa tamale and the New York Striploin and enjoyed every last bite. We look forward to returning to the Amara Resort and Spa and enjoying the food at Saltrock in our next trip to Sedona.

Disappointing all around: Service-at dinner refused outdoor seating as there were earlier showers and it might rain again. Is that being cautious or just being lazy? No one ever came to wait on the table for breakfast so went elsewhere. Food-dinner entree, barbacoa tamale was tasteless mush. Ambiance-terrace lovely, but inside lunchroom like.

We were looking for South West local fair that didn't have Jalapeño poppers on the menu served by college kids. The food here represented Sedona and the staff was passionate, knowledgeable, and very nice. I had a better time here than L'auberge.

Awesome restaurant. I think it's still pretty new so it was a nice quiet option for lunch on the patio. Guacamole was amazing and I split a chicken bacon avocado sandwich with my husband and it was the best chicken sandwich of my life. Perfect avocado and juicy tomatoes and perfect bacon. I can't say in words how good it was. My mother in law had the arugula bacon salad and it was delicious. It wasn't very big and there were no carbs offered with the salad itself so I recommend sharing an appetizer or the guac if you get a salad. Burger and turkey wrap are also good!! This will be my new go to restaurant in sedona.

Incredible food and service! Our server, Mary, was a total pro and really enhanced our dining experience! The food was so, so delicious. Healthy, refreshing, and incredibly unique and delicious combinations of ingredients and flavors. And a beautiful evening view. I HIGHLY recommend. And if you can ask for Mary as your server, you'll be delighted.

Had an interesting experience here. We ordered ceviche and yucca with two drinks (a beer and a margarita). The apps came out BEFORE the drinks. And when I mean before, I mean that I could have eaten all of the apps before the drinks arrived, but we literally waited for the drinks to show up. After that, drinks were quicker, but that's the first time that may have ever happened to me. Service was inept all night, down to swiping our cards for the wrong bill. We tried to find the waiter for over five minutes to no avail. So we left. A testament to the service. Food was decent, though.

We had a great Southwestern inspired dinner at SALTROCK. Our waiter was named Wade and he was great, very knowledgeable and really conveyed the Chef's vision well. You receive complimentary Yucca Bread and house made salsa. It was delicious, but very small and left us wanting more. We really enjoyed the Deviled Eggs with Pasilla Maple Syrup, Bacon Onion Marmalade and Grain Mustard. Really nice use of textures and flavors. My beautiful wife enjoyed her Beef Barbacoa Tamale and I loved my Achiote Chicken Breast with a spinach, cilantro and jalapeño risotto and grilled asparagus. Once again great uses of different flavors and textures. For dessert we shared the flourless chile chocolate torte with peanut butter sauce. A great finish to a wonderful evening. We would highly recommend.

The service is fantastic. Very attentive and welcoming. Guacamole to your taste have nice touch to it and everything we ordered was super delicious and good amount. The Chile Chocolate Flourless Cake is not to be missed.

We had a relentlessly good meal at this restaurant. On their patio, with a stunning view of Sedona's famous red rock formations, we were served course after course of creative, luciously fresh-tasting, surprising, subtle, and masterfully flavored dishes. We shared four small plates, a bottle of wine, an entree, a dessert, and espresso, and every component was perfection itself. I don't usually mention service in reviews, but we experienced service so exceptional as to be worth mentioning. In addition to the attentive and helpful wait staff who helped make our experience so memorable, the the executive and sous chefs came to our table to chat and ask for our impressions of the food. I can't wait to come back!

We stayed at Amara, home of Saltrock. In our one week stay we ordered several meals and drinks from the Saltrock. I'd like to say we stayed to the menu, but my girls can be a bit high maintenance and as a result I would have to say that few of our requests were actually on the menu, or offered at the time of request. Yet, at no time did the staff of Saltrock ever say anything other than: "Yes, of course." or something of that variation. I did not hear "no" once. We asked for drinks to be delivered to the pool: "Yes, of course." We asked for a table at a booth: "Yes, of course." We asked for a pot of hot water to take to our room: "Yes, of course. Would you like lemon and honey with that?" We later asked for a meal to be delivered to the pool: "Yes, of course." We asked for a BLT without the T, and countless other variations on otherwise normal meals: "Yes, of course." Get the picture? Do you have any idea how hard it is to train people how to be comfortable not just saying: "Yes, of course," but pulling it off? I do, I have tried. I did not succeed as well as the manager of Saltrock. Oh, and they take care of our daughter. She could order anything and we knew the staff would just settle up later. How many places take care of your kid? That's worth something right there. If they have a downside, it is that they do not handle crowds well, at least not during our visit. The staff remains polite and apologetic, though, which puts them head and shoulders above their Sedona brethren. Stay at Amara, eat and drink at Saltrock. It's expensive, but worth it.

Excellent food and nice atmosphere. Get here early and sit by fire pit with great view. I had the duck tacos and grilled corn soup, both very tasty!

I really liked my salmon entree -- cooked perfectly with a nice crunch finish. The salsa fresca provided gratis with the little Yukon bread bite was worth licking out of the little container. Hubbie's swordfish was overpriced for 7-8oz (before cooking) for $28. I downed my ginger infused straight up margarita in a few sips. Agree with other review that you don't get a lot of value here but I enjoyed my meal. Bottom line: recommended

Superb restaurant. First-rate service and atmosphere. Creative menu, brilliantly executed. If the King Oyster Mushroom appetizer is on the menu, don't miss it.

Food was delicious. Service excellent. And given our surroundings fairly priced. We had the guacamole, swordfish and the chicken. The margaritas are great, mocktails too.

The good: terrific food, phenomenal view, great service. The bad: value for the money. If it had better price/value, this place would be 5-star. We shared a bowl of the roasted corn soup. A solid starter. The corn (?) muffin/bread was also nice. Entrees were delicious. My wife's bass was a decent size portion for the price ($29), served over a small bed of braised kale and carrots. Lovely. My achiote chicken ($21) was delicious, but extremely small (not even a full breast fillet). It was served on a delicious but woefully small portion of risotto and 4-6 asparagus spears. Delicious, but not a lot of food, even for Sedona. All in all, a great experience, though. Amazing view from the patio, and service was very attentive & friendly without being overbearing. Good stuff.

We are on the back end of a four city trip. we've eaten at the finest restaurants in New York, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, and now Sedona. As soon as we walked in, the personal detail and attention to service was second to none. I'm not saying it is as fancy as a jean Georges or a Daniel Boulud restaurant , but from the hostess to the waiter to the chef who came out and generally thanked us for our patronage, we felt welcomed and appreciated. We were celebrating a special occasion, and at the end of the evening they actually presented us with a handwritten card signed by everyone on the staff, joining in our celebration. The food was excellent, the waiter's suggestions we're on point, and the overall evening was perfect. I highly recommend if you are in Sedona that you visit this fine restaurant.

Beautiful setting with a view of the Red Rocks (make sure to sit on the patio). The mushroom appetizer is incredible, drinks are great and the pork tamale entree delicious!

Really looked forward to coming here but was sorely disappointed and I'm not even half way through my appetizer. I'm I town for business and staying at the hotel and tried to get a table by myself but was refused and made to sit at the bar by the manager. After being sat I overheard the bartender telling her he can't attend to me and she walked away then leisurely made me wait before she eventually came over to me. She took my order, I ordered appetizer and entree and they both came out together before my drink and the ceviche had no chips or anything accompanying it, I asked and it seemed to confuse them. I proceeded to order a michelada and the manager says what's that then says to the bartender do you know what a michelada is and he responds we don't have a blender....what???? For people living in Sedona, AZ and working at a mexican place I'm kind of let down they've never even heard of the word michelada. All together horrible experience, the food has potential but prices and service are not up to par and will never return all though I'm in the hotel2 more nights

Yelp got me here and it was great. From the food to the service to the view. If you walk in it is a steep down hill walk but the valet will drive you back up.

Good ambience, service, so so and probably not her fault. I grew a beard waiting for our drinks. Food - very dry and over cooked bass. My wife had pork tomales- pretty average. Comped us a desert for the fish. Wish we would have left prior to.... Not much of a crowd, maybe everybody knew but us tired travelers looking for a good meal at the place we we're bunked. A 4 star in the making-maybe.

We sat on the patio to eat great view. The servings are extremely small for price. There was only one waitress for 10 or 15 tables and she appeared to have a hearing problem. Management and hostess weren't helping the poor women another waiter showed up an hour and a half later. This was a Saturday night.
