Stunning. I have travelled in and lived close to Prescott for many years and never heard of this wonderful restaurant. It is one of those places, while not elegant, hits the mark in all the important areas for a restaurant. From the moment I sat down, I knew that the owners cared about their restaurant...and the customer. Prompt, friendly, service, clean restaurant, interesting theme, interesting offerings and reasonable prices started our experience. Sweet Potato, is not just the name, it is the base ingredient for amazing breads, pies, etc. We just had breakfast, and everything was prepared carefully and well. Delightful, just delightful. This will be a destination henceforth.

Great food, super fast service even over during peak breakfast time over Memorial Day weekend. Staff were really friendly and very informative about the area. Will be back.

Nice little surprise. Took my mom here for lunch. Seat yourself tables, quick service and good food! Only complaint would be parking. Will return in future

I don't like yams or sweet potatoes, so I never gave this place a chance until I realized my former favorite breakfast place in town just wasn't very good anymore and was showing no signs of getting better (I won't name names, but, you know who I'm talking about.) Service is friendly without being overbearing, food is great, and prices make sense. It's just a normal breakfast and lunch place, but they get it right.

We stopped here for breakfast on a day trip to Prescott. What a cute little place with delicious food. I ordered the garden omelet and it came with a sweet potato pancake. Both were very tasty and for the price they were very generous with their portions. If I lived in town this would be a favorite for sure.

Nothing completes my morning like the sweet potato cafe. Friendly staff, affordable American breakfast cuisine and an immaculate establishment make the sweet potato my destination of choice for am delights. The food comes quickly and your coffee remains full. Sweet potato knows what they are doing and how to keep it going.

Potatoes over cooked and dry, toast burnt on one side... Over light eggs were over cooked (hard yoke). What else could go wrong... oh... cash only. But the did put in an ATM...

Great food, great service, great proportions! You won't leave this place hungry or dissatisfied. The eggs benedict was one of the best I've had and the omelets were outstanding. I will definitely be returning to this place!

First time here. My wife and I decided to stop after reading local reviews. My wife had an omlet with bacon, chedder, tomato, green chillis and grilled onions...cooked to order. I had a french toast combo. Everything was fresh and we'll done and very tasty. My wife also had a piece of sweet potatoe bread with cinnimon butter...This is what you have to get here..be it the sweet potatoe pancakes or bread you have to have the cinnimon buttet. Great little hide a way. We highly recommend you give it a try

Stopped here based on the reviews and was very disappointed. Yes, the sweet potato pancakes and cinnamon-butter were amazing. So was the chicken fried steak, and the portion sizes were very large. The problem was that it smelled like they still allowed smoking in the restaurant, and the prices were very inflated.

Everything was perfect...service, cleanliness, flavor, & wait time. Sweet potatoe grilled toast.....amazing. Got some to go!

We found this place on yelp knowing we would be in Prescott for the day and not knowing the area very well. It's a quaint location though it's outdated decor-wise. I ordered the sweet potato cake with scrambled eggs and it was very tasty, my husband even liked them and he doesn't like sweet potatoes. He got the French toast and said they were very good as well. I'd say the only downside about this place is the fact that they don't take credit cards, but they do have an ATM. Which is no problem if you don't mind the fee or, like us, have a bank that reimburses you for it. Also, it could've just been me, but the dining room was quite warm.

First surprise was : It is "Cash Only". For a place associated with "Fast Service ", It was not. About 45 min after seating we got our meals. The hash browns were over cooked , dry, and COLD. Tasteless. First time I have ever used ketchup on hash browns. Eggs fared a little better they were still cold but not as dry as the hash browns. WHat was amazing is they even managed to serve biscuits and gravy and the gravy was cold.

Food: I had the sweet potato combo, which comes with sweet potato pancakes and scrambled eggs. The pancakes taste really good and you get to smother them with cinnamon butter, which just makes them better. If you come here you have to try the pancakes. Service: Really good service. Friendly and with a smile. This is a great little diner you will not be disappointed.

Love this place... one of the best breakfast restaurants I've ever been to!

The service was great. I got the spicy omelette with green chile, jalapeno, etc. It had an excellent flavor but the chile's weren't drained enough so it was a bit watery at the bottom of my plate. My biggest complaint was the biscuits and gravy weren't good at all. The biscuit almost had a corn bread taste to it which was a little weird but worst of all the gravy was like a paste spread over the top. The prices were a little high i thought. I had coffee and omelette(which came with potatoes and biscuit and gravy) my bill was $12.20 and with tip that's $15 for one person. I will definitely try it again though because the omelette (besides being a little watery) and potatoes and coffee were good. I just won't get a biscuit and gravy with it. I was on the fence of giving this 3 or 4 stars i would give it 3.5 stars but i couldn't give it 4 with such horrible biscuits and gravy and watery omelette. Over all i would say give it a try.

I ate breakfast here three consecutive days when I was in Prescott. Dean, the owner, greets you when entering. The place is spotless and set up like a classic American diner, nice and comfortable without seeming formulaic. The food is the thing. All fresh ingredients and nothing we ate seemed like it was a left over or reheat. They cook everything fresh and from scratch. Prices are very fair and we'll return when in Prescott again. Wish this place was near where I live, we have nothing of this caliber-quality.

Love this place! My wife and I love to go out to breakfast. We get to Prescott 2 or 3 times a month and have another "favorite place". We tried the Sweet Potato Cafe because we just love sweet potato pancakes and they are not readily available. We were not disappointed. Not only were the cakes fabulous, but the omelet was wonderful. It was fluffy and served without being overcooked like so many places do. And there were many different options from which to choose. The home fries were memorable. The cook/owner came out to see how we liked the food and our server was the best ambassador a restaurant could have. She was friendly, helpful and provided excellent service. We even asked for and got a loaf of their sweet potato bread to take home. It was scrumptious as well. Just a perfect breakfast experience. We will still visit our old favorite, but it will be splitting our business with the Sweet Potato Cafe. Makes me wish we lived in Prescott so we could go more often. Treat yourself to great place.

Best pancakes I've had! Sweet potato with cinnamon butter are so good I didn't use a drop of syrup. Service was very friendly and the place has that warm and cozy feel. We'll be regulars here.

This is a little slow, but we've eaten here about ten times in the last six months. We usually come for the breakfast, but I know they have a lunch menu too. My wife loves their sweet potato pancakes. I've tried them, and will admit that they were good and I don't particularly care for sweet potatoes. They have wonderful omelets as well all the other normal breakfast items. The service is usually wonderful with quick and friendly servers. Once the server gets your order, the food does not take long to come out. I've wanted to try one of their homemade cinnamon rolls, they are huge. Every time a family member comes to town, we bring them here for breakfast. To clarify my answer below about accepting credit cards, I'm not sure anymore. I know when we discovered Sweet Potato Cafe that it was strictly a cash payment. They have a ATM machine inside the business. But a couple of months ago I thought I saw a handwritten sign that said they were accepting ATM cards. This place is not a fancy place, but serves up great food at a good price with friendly hometown service.

Although this venue is cash only and no credit card facility, that did not phase us in the least. The food here was outstanding. The portions a fair size and their sweet potato bread grilled is to die for. I had the 2 eggs fries to perfection, bacon and rye toast. My wife had the omelette which we were told were the best in town and my wife stands to testimony that it sure was the best omelette she had to date. Tasty and fluffy and certainly couldn't fault it. Being gluten and lactose intolerant that were most accommodating. The coffee was great and the service eye best we have experienced in the Prescott and PV area. Thy were friendly helpful and surely worth their salt. We will definitely go back to The Sweet Potato again for breakfast or lunch. One of the best surprises we discovered in Prescott. You should definitely try it out. But remember to take cash. Their prices are reasonable.

We visited the cafe after seeing the reviews on yelp. The place is a nicely appointed casual breakfast nook. The service very friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The food piping hot and delicious. I had the eggs scrambled with spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, peppers and chilies with home fries and sour dough toast. The kitchen graciously gave me whole eggs instead of the egg whites listed on the menu. Fantastic!! He had two biscuits with gravy, two eggs and sausage. Everything was perfectly made. We split a sweet potato pancake...great breakfast dessert. We are going back ...the lunch menu looks too good to miss.

Never had a bad meal here. Lots of menu items, breakfast and lunch, or as some call dinner. I've had sandwiches, omlets, mabye 10 times, no bad things to say. Party of five on a regular basis and never a complaint.

We were on our way to Jerome and needed a quick breakfast. Stumbled in here and we were so happy! For a diner, they have lots of veggie options. I had the warm veggie sandwich and was surprised at the amount of veggies they load it up with. Hubby had the Tuna Melt and enjoyed it because it wasn't drowning in mayo. Great morning/brunch atmosphere.

It was dirty today. But service was friendly and prompt as usual. I went a few months ago and the portions seemed bigger last time., It does offer sweet potato pancakes and other sweet potato options. Coffee is good and fresh and the window views are decent for the location of it being right on the street. it appears to be never packed in here, "the usuals" seem to keep it aloat. If your starving and anything will do this place will work. if you're in a rush best go somewhere else

We dropped into this place Sunday after church for breakfast. I had read some other reviews awhile back saying it was a good place to eat so we thought we would give it a try. I must say, it was a nice treat. No complaints. The service was prompt, efficient and friendly and the atmosphere was like a typical small somewhat dated breakfast/lunch diner. The food was tasty, cooked to order and pretty prompt. Our waitress was sweet, polite and kind. Despite all these good marks, I am not driven to write a rave review, after all, eggs, bacon, biscuit and sausage gravy are pretty standard stuff. We did try the sweet potato pancakes and though the size was disappointing, the cinnamon butter helped make up the difference. Pretty tasty stuff. So, if you are looking for a good traditional breakfast, kind service in a small diner atmosphere you should drop in this place. For the 2 of us we got out the door for $25 including a 20% tip.

I foolishly drove by this place a great many times in search of a good Breakfast and now I am kicking myself for not stopping there sooner! The Sweet Potato has it all; look no further! From the street-side it is small and unassuming with sort of a weird driveway shared with the adjacent oil-change shop. There seems to be adequate parking, however. Homemade Corned Beef Hash. Need I say more? No cans, not (ever) frozen, prepared by the talented and skilled hands of a real human being. With care. When I walked in and saw that posted as the daily special I knew I was home. We were seated in a sunny window on a cold Winter morning and the service was friendly, swift and pleasant. If you want me to start a great breakfast I got to have coffee. Good coffee; not too old, brewed recently. There is an art to an American-style Breakfast. This place has mastered it. I still can't prepare a breakfast as good as we can get eating out, despite my enthusiasm and diligent practice. The eggs were good and not overdone. (I'm still trying to figure out why two eggs at home and two eggs in a good Breakfast joint are not the same volume.) I'm a big guy and hate to be shortchanged on the serving size (even if I do have to run it off later!) Good portions. Great Toast and Biscuits. Good Hash Browns. The acid-test is always will I go back? Yes. Most definitely yes!

Awesome place for breakfast! Sweet potato pancakes with cinnamon butter are beyond amazing! My kids loved their waffles & French toast & the "Some like it hot" omelette was a hit with my husband. Fast, friendly service. A new fav for us in Prescott!

Without a doubt sweet potato cafe is the best place for breakfast in the Prescott area. I have been there twice now and both times I have had a wonderful experience. Their eggs are the best I have ever tasted, same goes for the Omelettes. Sometimes after I go out for breakfast I get a gross greasy feeling in my stomach, but I never get that from here. The food is delicious without being covered in fats, greases, and oils. Their fruit pancakes and waffles are made with fresh fruit, not that nasty canned ihop crap. I have nothing bad to say about this place! If you want a delicious home cooked style breakfast, go to sweet potato cafe!

Went there for brunch today after church and I have to say, the sweet potato pancakes with the cinnamon butter were quite simply THE BEST pancakes I have ever had. This is down-home cooking like I grew up with in rural Pennsylvania. Can't wait to try their biscuits & gravy next time :)

I too, have driven past this place many times without stopping and I could kick myself. We stopped for breakfast and were warmly greeted. I selected the too hot omelette, it was perfect and so tasty. It was great and so were the home fries and the coffee was excellent. My wife had the pecan waffle with bacon and it was huge. We took home a fantastic left over breakfast. We will be back again and again.

Our "regular" breakfast place. Simply the best. Great, friendly service. My favorite is the "some like it hot" omelet. Loaded with meat and jalapenos. Very good, homemade burgers! Hangover cure: Patty melt and fries from Sweet Potato!

just like most of them said I can't believe I passed this so many times and never stopped. this is the cleanest restaurant I have ever been in. all the food was great and you could tell it was fresh. the service was fast and very friendly. I am so glad I finally stopped there and I will stop again

  • Betty M.

The food was great, and the service was friendly, with top notch coffee, which is a MUST with breakfast. I had the sweet potato combo: two huge sweet potato pancakes with scrambled eggs with ham and cheese. Delicious! My husband's omlette was fluffy, and the grilled sweet potato bread should not be missed. The only downside was having to defend my food from a particularly aggressive fly.

Good quality food, good & friendly service, a tad pricey depending on what you order. Oatmeal is $6.99. Grits are $6.99. Grits are usually a side dish for $1.99.

This place is great for breakfast, and you better come in hungry because the portions are huge! Great prices for what you get, average $10 per person on our visit today. Highly recommend getting sweet potato bread (fried) instead of toast or pancakes. That bread is crazy good!

  • Michelle D.

Do the come here too often since I don't normally have the time. But when I do I always leave with a full stomach and a smile on my face! The staff is friendly and I've never had an order wrong. I'm a picky ass eater so I'm always changing something lol.

Went for lunch, ordered chicken salad sandwich it was mostly apples and grapes hardly any chicken! Fries were greasy and soggy, server did not offer to bring something else when I complained about sandwich. Won't be going back!

This is our favorite breakfast spot in Prescott. The owner cooks in back and the waitresses are kind and thoughtful. The owner has gone out of his way to accommodate us as vegetarians. We order things without meat and substitute avocado. Good flavor, small town atmosphere. The food doesn't taste greasy. It tastes fresh. We love Sweet Potato!

  • J G.

Great food and fast service! We had a wonderful lunch and were served unrushed even though it was close to closing time. Thank you for a great salad, fresh bread and of course the sweet potato fries! Our server were great and she gladly took a picture of our party. Thank you for making this a great shopping day for us. I will definitely be back for breakfast to try the pancakes. I know we'll be back after another day of shopping.

  • Mike R.

Just returned from lunch here for the first time. Read lots of good things about the place on the local fb foodies site. Our server must have been having a bad day, as she was surly. The food was ok, nothing special. I had a burger and my wife had the grilled ham cheese and tomato (paradise grill?). The burger was ok, but my wife's was way too salty. I've heard great things about the breakfast here, but after today, I'll give it a pass.

Food was good my biskit and gravy was a bit on the cold side but overall good. Service was great always had my glass full. Great spot in the home town to eat breakfast

Breakfast was great! Sweet potato pancakes did not disappoint. Eggs and sausage cooked just right. Be careful for the add-ons. Your bill could get really high ordering toast on the side.

  • Theron W.

Compared to other breakfast spots in town, it's so-so. Service was good and the wait staff are good, but the food isn't that remarkable for the price. A cup of coffee is $2.20 and the food portions are on the light side. Plus, they only accept cash. I'm a gen "y"er, I don't carry cash. Oh good there's an ATM. What? $4 for a debit withdrawal? Laaaame.

I travel to prescott on business very often. Every trip, I make it a priority to stop for breakfast here. The omelets are to die for and the sweet potato pancakes are the best in the country.

Very fast, very friendly, very good food. A lot of positive energy here. Love it. By far the best breakfast place I've been to in Prescott. Had the "some like it hot" omelet with sweet potato bread and it was fantastic.

We've been here before, but for some reason it didn't make an impression one way or the other. Maybe a fuzzy Saturday morning while still trying to regain focus? In any case, we dropped in this Saturday morning. KT was in the mood for breakfast and got their homemade corned beef hash. Absolutely delicious, with nicely prepared home fries, toast, eggs. She's developed an egg yolk allrergy and they prepared her whites exactly to specifications. I opted for the BLT&A, their BLT with avocado, a favorite of mine, on toasted marble rye. Absolutely declicious! About as good as you can make that sandwich. The fries, ordered well done, were just that; crispy, flavorful. Again, I'm not sure why this place has been left out of our weekly game of "OK, where do you want to grab something to eat?", but it won't be omitted in the future. Good service, great food. Nicely done

Service was wonderful! Food was even better. The best burger of my life....the wild man burger. My daughter ate all of her food. Will be recommending to others and coming back next time we are in town.
