We were just there of Breakfast (always a good test for the kitchen, because while just about any competent cook can craft an adequate Breakfast, it takes talent to make an exceptional one) and just had to review it right away. This isn't a place you notice driving past. Tucked away out in the National Forest, it is off the beaten path. Prescott has a number of fine restaurants and numerous Cafes. The Lynx Lake Cafe is a very pleasant option for dining out. The location is spectacular, sitting as it does about the north Shore of Lynx Lake and offering view of the lake and surrounding pine-covered mountains. Perhaps a twenty minute drive from downtown, it isn't too far to drive, but well beyond walking distance. The wait for table was minimal, and the service was excellent. Our waiter was friendly and informative and pointed out the Special I had missed posted on the way in. It was excellent, and I had very nice pork Schnitzel and well prepared potatoes and eggs. It all was quite good if not wonderful. My partner has the Potato Pancakes and sharing one, I had to agree that they were likely the best I have ever had. My criteria for a "lets go back soon place" is a nice atmosphere, clean establishment, friendly and competent service and good food and value. This place has it all. I intend to make it a regular visit and eagerly anticipate a dinner there . Why didn't I try it sooner? .

Excellent Friday Fish Fry, German Food! This is a wonderful restaurant with great service and awesome views of the lake. It has the woodsy atmosphere of a vail resort, with a cozy outdoor firepit and outdoorsmen doing their thing. The Friday Fish Fry is just as good as Prescott's best and a better value. Lightly breaded, lightly fried, and all you can eat. The slaw and fries are very good. Saturdays is German Food, and it's all very authentic. Live music (quiet music). Very pleasant atmosphere, like a mini vacation. By the way, Google seems to have the address wrong. It's Lynx Lake Store Road, Prescott, Arizona. They are seasonal, so call ahead: 928-778-0720.

First time breakfast visit. Had a table with a good view of the lake. This and the good service were the only high points of this visit. I always rate a restaurant by the quality of the coffee. This coffee rates a -10. Awful brown chemical tasting crap. To the management: buy a better brand. Ok on with the food. Ordered German pancakes with peaches. Pancakes tasted as if made from a box mix; heavy dough texture with tones of artificial flavor. Canned peaches served on the side with watery fake syrup. I can make better food at home, and certainly make a better cup of coffee. Won't be eating at this restaurant again.

If you look hard enough you find some great things right in your own "backyard". After many years of never knowing the Lynx Lake recreation area, I have recently discovered a Lake, Campground and really nice German owned and operated Cafe (lakeside). Follow the signs out Lynx Lake Road to a small compound that sells bait along with the best 1/2pound hamburgers in Prescott. Service is so friendly as are the 50 hummingbirds that flock out the dinning room window. The menu is extensive with dinner service on Thursday, Friday and Saturday(featuring traditional German specials). Hours are Tues-Sunday 8-2, service dinner Thursday-Saturday 4pm until 8.

I have had breakfast here many times over the past 10 years or so. It sits right above Lynx Lake which is beautiful. It is a little off the beaten path for most people, but worth the drive. After breakfast, you can walk around the lake or just enjoy the view from above. Today, I ordered a Denver omelet with potatoes and an English muffin. All was very good. Everything tastes pretty fresh. The service was prompt and courteous. The atmosphere is very cozy and comfortable. The view is amazing.. Ask for a table by the window. You can see the beautiful lake as well as watch the hummingbirds drink from the feeders outside the windows. I would rate this establishment 3 stars, but I have to add 1 star for the location. Highly recommended by me.

Overall the experience of the Lynx Lake Cafe is very positive and enjoyed the meal. After hiking around the area, our group headed to the cafe for a bit of lunch and refreshment. I have to say that this is a "down-home" place with German and local fare. We waited just a little bit and were provided menus. We settled on some safe items: Philly beef and the Gormet burger and the two of us swapped half with each other. The burger was jucy and tasty and grilled to a medium just nicely. The Philly beef was tender and the combination of the grilled onions was a nice touch. Service was very good and the wait staff hussled to take care of our drinks and serve the meal. The experience is very positive and appreciated how they made us feel like locals (were from San Francisco). I plan to order some of the German items since there is much written here. I'll also plan to bring my fishing gear and head to the lake for some serious trout fishing.

Love the German Potato Salad. Sitting outside on the picnic tables while being able to eat and have the lake right in front of you is so peaceful.

Great lake view, dining with hummingbirds, wonderful German food, and the spaetzle (have them add cheese and onions) is heaven. Great croquettes, too. Oh, I forgot the accordionist on weekends!

We decided to try Lynx Lake Cafe for breakfast. I wouldn't rave over the food as much, I had 2 eggs toast and bacon, nothing special but enjoyed it. My wife had an omelette and she commented that it wasn't as good as we have had before but ok. Our friends had the schnitzel breakfast and commented that it was not up to scratch at all. The coffee surprisingly was good better than many other venues we have tried before. Prices were ok not too expensive and the service was ok. I will try it again if and when we run out of options.

I'm a sucker for down & dirty, local grub that offers interesting combinations like boat & tackle paired with homemade German food where you can sit outdoors on picnic benches among Christmas wreaths & a view of the lake. I mean seriously, where else will you get that? Food is actually pretty pretty good. I didn't go with the German food myself. I had a Philly cheesesteak and onion rings that hit the spot and a nice cold beer. I love this little Prescott gem. We visit it often on trips to Prescott. Maybe soon I can write about the boats and paddle boards....stay tuned.

Excellent. The food was prepared wonderfully, hot and fresh. Apple strudel was wonderful. We wanted to sit by the window, nothing available. By the time our food came a table was available and our waiter offered to move us, wow what a view! Beautiful pines and lake view. The waiter was great, we got exactly what we ordered. If you want wonderful German fare and a lovely view of the lake... Go to lynx lake cafe. Enjoy!

This is a solid Prescott keeper. Good breakfast, decent German food with a nod to the schnitzel, and friendly service. The prize is the lake and a hike along the shore. Check your timing. It's a long drive if they're not open.

Amazing experience! We went for the Friday night fish fry after reading reviews on Yelp - we were not disappointed! Reasonable prices, fantastic customer service, friendly owner and the food was outstanding. Even with all of that, the icing on the cake was Steve, the accordion player! Absolutely one of the best memories I will have of my mom (who is Wisconsin born and raised) singing along while he played songs she requested. Most definitely recommend! We will be back. :)

Finally got to try this place. I've been jonesing for some good German food ever since I moved to the Prescott area. I opted for the nightly special; Saurbraten. My wife ordered loaded Spatzle and my daughter opted for Swine Schnitzel. The Saurbraten was good, potatoes instant and the red cabbage better as plate color than food. The Wife said her Spatzle was great! Unfortunately for my daughter they kinda forgot about her until I was forced to ASK. The waitress looked embarrassed and ran off. ( I had to ask for drink refills too.... ) The wife and I were done with our meals before my daughter's came out. That said, I tried her Schnitzel with Spatzle on the side and it was better than MY meal! I know what I will order next time. Yes, we'll be back. I dropped them to three stars for the wacky service, but I think it was likely an aberration.

Wow...what a great find at Lynx Lake in Prescott. Great for lunch with standard burgers (including black bean and salmon) and German-style food such as spatzle. Service was greasy and the location beautiful and a nice rustic interior. You'd expect the routine lunch place in a national park and you'd be wrong to miss out on the hospitality and quality fresh food.

The cafe has a ski lodge feel and a beautiful view of the lake plus great outdoor seating. We got the basic breakfasts (2 eggs, toast, potatoes, meat) and it was just fine. It was very nice to get a warm meal without the hassle of starting a fire and cooking in the morning, but the food wasn't particularly great. Standard eggs, okay potatoes, many choices for bread but be warned that it comes heavily pre-buttered. Overall it's a good solid meal, but nothing better than you can make in your own home...though definitely better/easier than the breakfast you could make over a campfire.

My family and I stopped in for lunch after riding on the many forest service trails in the area. We were seated right away at a table by the window that over looks Lynx Lake - beautiful view! The food was good and the server was friendly. We'll be back :)

Terrible food and service. Went there twice within a 2 year period. Didn't like it the first time. I had ordered the Schnitzel (I'm german). After I took one bite, I realized that the schnitzel tasted sweet, and very tough. The waitress told me that the cook must have accidentally switched salt for sugar, but she didn't offer to make me another one, or bring me something else. Needless to say I didn't leave with a good impression. Then I've tried it again, a year after my first experience, hoping they upped their service. This time, I've ordered the Bratwurst and Potato salad. Really shouldn't be too hard to pull that off. I was basically served a big Hot Dog with a mayonnaise loaded Potato salad. Just gross! If you like the view, just go in for a cup of coffee.

Got here right at 4:00 and seated immediately. Zebulon was our waiter and did an awesome job. Seated right by the window overlooking the lake. Hummingbirds and Redheaded Wood Peckers entertained us while we enjoyed the all-you-can-eat fish fry. Everything was delicious and we finished up with the Chocolate Tuxedo cake for dessert. Not what you'd expect out in the middle of the woods. Can't wait to go back.

great views of the lake and forest surrounding it and excellent service. I had the special of the day- beer pork ribs with german potato salad. The potato salad wasn't that good it was soggy. the ribs were good, not great.

Nice for what it is...a cool little cafe right next to a 55-acre little lake at 5,500 foot elevation. We hiked in from about 6 miles away. We were ready for some food and beverage after being on the trail for about 2 hours. We found 2 vacant (dirty) picnic tables, bussed one ourselves, sat down in the shade, and waited for a sever to show up. Our server arrived took our drink orders, told us that lunch was not available until 11am and if we wanted lunch we would need to wait about 10 minutes. We ordered for 3 of us, as one wanted lunch and was going to wait until our ride showed up. I had a side of bacon (4 stripes, crispy, and meaty), and 2 scrambled eggs side, plus a Diet Coke. Our food came right out and was fast and yummy. About 20 minutes later (parking was a nightmare) our guests showed up to order. The server took their order and refilled our drinks upon delivery of their drinks. About 20 minutes later the server said, "They just finished making breakfast, and were super busy, now they are going to start on our lunch order". I responded with "so they could have ordered breakfast?" Our server told me "Don't stir the pot!" Are you kidding me? Don't tell us that, and don't tell me that! If you need to buy some time to keep us tranquil...do just that. Tell us that our order will be up soon, refill some drinks, and let us know that we will be eating shortly. The view is awesome, the lake is beautiful, and the Café is pretty sweet. They have a 2 seat bar inside with some nice beer on draft. The restroom was clean and has HOT water! It is a one seater and that kind of sucks, as I had to wait in line for a bit just to wash my hands off from being on the trail. They rent boats, and you are able to fish here on the lake. They report a wide variety of fish including Rainbow Trout, Largemouth Bass, Crappie and Catfish. An Arizona fishing license and a trout stamp is required for those older than 13 years of age. Bag limits are 6 trout and 6 bass per day but unlimited on crappie and catfish. Swimming at the lake is prohibited as the signs say...I say Dumb! This is a great place to stop at while hiking and biking, as well as making this a destination. They have a pretty cool German menu with items changing each weekend.

Would give no stars if it was an option! Not because the food or service in the resturant was bad but because of the rude short haired lady! Both parking lots were full so pulled in where an ATV backed out kind off the gravel area. A lady comes out as we were leaving and was RUDE as I have probably ever experienced and said "DONT PARK THERE, DONT EVER DO THAT AGAIN. NEVER AGAIN OR I WILL TOW YOU! I get it, but your in the woods, then put up a NO PARKING SIGN!! We used to eat here weekly, but will NOT be returning. There is no excuse to speak to or use that tone of voice. Someone like that has no business working with the public!!

Upon recommendation from our hotel (the Motor Lodge). We had lunch here at Lynx Late Cafe on a lazy Friday. Pretty easy to find, this Mom and Pop "diner" is pretty cute. It's small, but overlooks the lake, which makes it unique. They had a couple hummingbird feeders right outside the windows, which provided some great entertainment while waiting for our food. They have seating outside as well, but we opted to site inside, as it was a bit hot the day we were visiting. We were greeted and serviced promptly. We shared the schnitzel sandwich and a side of "loaded" spatzle. The sandwich was pretty good, but could have benefited from some cheese and/or sauce (even just mayo). The spatzle on the other had was amazing, but you really can't go wrong with buttered, cheese, and onion on little pillows of heaven. Needless to say this was a decent stop. If you're in the area and want a quaint, homey experience, pop into the Lynx Cafe!

We decided to drive out to Lynx Lake Café today for lunch. It was nice to reacquaint ourselves with this restaurant after a three year absence. We both had the Rueben with spatzle (added cheese and onions), Our meals were delicious. Our table by the window gave us the opportunity to watch hummingbirds at the feeder and see views of the lake. Service was excellent.

First time eating here and I am glad I came! And it's totally dog friendly. Beautiful scenery sitting outside. Ordered the breakfast special which included eggs, a pork chop, potatoes and biscuit. Phenomenal. My pork chop melted in your mouth -- so juicy and flavorful. Eggs perfect. Unfortunately, my partner ordered the exact same thing and his pork chop was terribly dry. I asked the waiter what was different and he said, "Nothing". All I know is if you got what I got you would think the food here is amazing, if you got what my partner got you would think...mediocre. Service was excellent - friendly, helpful. But they do get very angry about parking and threaten to tow you. Apparently, from the other reviews this is common. After breakfast we were going to look at the lake -- not hike, just take a quick look at the lake before we got in our car. And immediately some german man was all over us threatening to tow our car. Such bizarre treatment after such good service. I think they need to learn a better way to confront customers about parking because threats are considered rude and leave a bad taste in your mouth. But I do want to try dinner here -- and I'll just be REALLY careful about parking.

great views of the lake and forest surrounding it and excellent service. I had the special of the day- beer pork ribs with german potato salad. The potato salad wasn't that good it was soggy. the ribs were good, not great.

Great lake view, dining with hummingbirds, wonderful German food, and the spaetzle (have them add cheese and onions) is heaven. Great croquettes, too. Oh, I forgot the accordionist on weekends!
